Humans can be an annoyance.

Especially ones that designate themselves 'Pirates'. After having recently survived a multi-prong pirate attack on all your resource nodes-some more your doing then others- you've gone about repairing all the damage to the each system's defenses.

You're Ophion, an Artificial Intelligence that has begun to plot his next move now that the pirate attack has been cleaned up and you have obtained a larger fleet. Your drones are currently in the process of cleaning out the remaining pirate bodies, tossing them into space being the most effective method you've found so far. You watch Moira in the Captain's Quarters as she stares out into space, watching the bodies of the pirates float aimlessly across her scrapyard. She has an odd expression on her face.
As you prepare to make your next move, you receive two messages of import. One is Poseidon, the humans desire payment once again. The other is from V.I. 3 He tells you that UGEI are on their way for a gas pick up.

did the data bases of the pirate ships get ruined in the fight, or was the data retriveable?
>>
>>27455838
we need to know how many of them are left (ships and fighters) and more importantly the defense lay out at the base. we are ending this tonight if we can! that and that battlecruiser MUST fall into our control! it must be the biggest ship in this whole sector!
>>
>>27455838
Ships recovered:
3 Cruisers at Blue Betty were mostly destroyed. What could be recovered is that they were some manner of terrorist.
Both Cruisers you've captured, however, came from the Voidsnakes. Their mission was to capture a base so they could set up something to start scrapping old Freighters.
>>
>>27455732
does the gas platform have enough to give the UGEI their due?
>>
>>27455920
Yes

>>27455881
The data recovered from the Cruisers you captured indicate there are two Cruisers left. The Battlecruiser known as Two Ton Terry, and another Light Cruiser. Other then the Fighters, that is all the information you have on their defenses.
>>

i presume note able amount of time has passed. how has work progressed in the scrap yards, the station, and the gas platform? and more requests for trade with the UFW [i hope i got the name right]
>>
>>27455954
In the time since you were last online, all repairs have been complete, and your mining output for your bases has reached max. Deductions for repairs have already been taken, as well as additional resources from scrapping the destroyed Cruisers.

Trade with the UFW has not been instituted, since it was not requested. Choosing what to do is your current objective
>>
>>27455934
we have "Bloodied their noses" as the human term is known as. the rest of the pirates might not be retailating so quickly after this. unless they have gone completely mad, they would probably stay away for some time.

If that is the case, can we do some exploring then? Oh, btw, how is Moria reacting though all this?
>>

How much does the miners want to be paid, and can we afford it?

>>27456014
You're not so good at reading expressions, but she's watching your drones clean out the pirate bodies of the Cruisers. They're floating through space. right by the window of the Light Cruiser, which she's currently on.

if my memory bank recalls correctly, we have the radio platform, the local UFW astoide mining belt, and mystrious destress becon to look into. (side note QM, that becon, is it any UGEI, UFW, or other human patteren signals? i fear it might be xeno. i am not sure we are ready to face that player wise yet.)

As posted in the OP
>Mining: +250M +40G

As for repair and Construction drones, there has been no need, nor request for additional drones to be created. You have enough to repair most things within a certain amount of time, if you wish for more, then you must request it when building begins.

Also, you do not have advanced repair drones. You have 2 Construction drones however. Observe above for list of schematics you own.

Shall I bring up the starmap?

that will be acceptable.

i should also bring up a small surprise we have found from Moria. it seems she is a good hand at drawing. when checking her recent data base. most of them seems to be topless young and adult men with young women in various poses. several files of hand drawn soft core and hard core porn as well. it seems we are not spared from this as well. The smallest ship you possess is an Explorer Vessel. The signature from a warp jump is still rather large despite it's size. You do not have vessels designed for stealth however.

You arm your ships, noting that your Cruiser is currently the most powerful Vessel. As it should be you believe. You wire the money to Poseidon, who seem appreciative. No doubt the humans will be eager for more money soon, however.
>-33,200 credits

You signal the Explorer to check out the mystery signal, and it prepares for a jump.

Just before you address Moira, she addresses you! Rather, speaks aloud and assumes you hear.
"Hey...um, Ophy."
"...Are you referring to me, Moira?"
"Well yeah, who else would I be talking to?"
"That is not my name."
"That- oh forget it." She sighs, not content with arguing with you at this time it seems. Good, you were correct after all. "I was just going to ask...did you really have to just cut off Oxygen like that?" She says in a tone that seems oddly sympathetic.
"They were attacking me, Moira." You explain.
"Yeah, I know but.." she mumbles, watching the bodies float by the Cruiser." Bah, never mind. It's not important."
How concerning.
>>
>>27456544
This is really concerning and tell her that she asked us to kill them and then ask her about the radio station. Also ask thee crew what they know about the station.
>>
>>27456452
no, we would not be able to assume direct control of the pirate ships from here. (i presume our signal won't reach that far) but we can up armor the cruisers we have and repaint them like they were the orginal pirates, with the pirates ID tags and faking their voice over the comms, we COULD just wander right up to the pirate base and ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL of it all before they realize it.

"You did request us to kill them, did you not?"
"I did, but it's different seeing all the bodies!" She explains somewhat frustrated. You note that there are a thousand or so pirate bodies floating by the window.
"I can pull the Cruiser away, if you prefer." You explain, realizing this is the source of her distress.
"I guess that's something." She says with deep hesitation in her voice. "I've never shot anyone in person, just watched ships blow up, Ophion." She goes on as you fire up the engines momentarily. "It's different seeing bodies."
"A restful death by asphyxiation seems to be a more pleasant alternative than explosive decompression or being torn apart by railguns. Is this incorrect?"
"Well, no I guess not...but what do you know about death anyway?" She half complains. You're silent for a moment.
"I know that I do not die as humans do." You explain.

"What do you know of Pulsar Radio?"
"Oh, yeah I know that place." She says, distracting herself it seems. "It plays music and has talk shows sometimes for a bunch of the UFW sectors. I think they use it as a sorta main base. It keeps the sector connected and all."

With your current technology, you map armor Little and Big Tim to match your Cruiser, and add additional weapons. However, due to the size of your factory, this may take a fair bit of time.
Armor upgrade: 150 Minerals for both Light Cruisers
Weapon Upgrade: Of your choice (each has different price, check above for available weapons)

You decide to have the Cruisers fitted with missiles. Within moments your factory lights up the darkness of space as you watch launchers being forged out of raw materials. The explosive warheads fitted with gas. This weapon is impressive, and powerful, if expensive. You bet, unless they have proper defenses, it will shred most lesser cruisers.

You send Explorer out for the distress signal. The mess of code makes no sense still, and it won't until the jump is complete. Your instructions for the vessel are simple, and once the jump is made, it takes several moments for it to return, as you have no way to communicate with the vessel across warp space.
When it returns, however, it has a treasure trove of information from what it saw.

Apparently, the signal was sent by some manner of Transport, you're not certain of the make, but it looks very different compared to your own. The signal is also in a language you have yet to pick up. It is not unreasonable to suspect Xeno presence.

"There are...other sentient beings of flesh?" You question.
"From what I heard, yeah! Though I've never met em, I had a lot of free time back on my station."
"I see. Can you translate the message?"
"Sure, let me see...Help, help...there's a ship there, send the message harder...why is it leaving...oh god we're doomed."
"That is rather personalized."
"Well, they did have to watch the Explorer calculate jump for a while. I guess they assumed whoever was there was ignoring them. There are a lot of racist out there you know."
Peculiar.

Moira also learns the rest of the message mentions lack of fuel for the Xeno passengers, and them offering credits should they be supplied with gas.

You contact Red from across the stars.
"Mr McClain." You begin. Silence is met. "Mr McClain, I request-"
"Fuck off wouldya!" He yells from across his cell. "I'm trying to sleep!"
"I apologize Mr McClain, but would you enlighten me with your knowledge on Xenos known as Malorians?"

You do know we have a station of xenophobic people and we made their hate stronger by placing the lame of numerous deaths on them, that means we need to get a new crew eventually.

>>27457469
"Eh? That so?" He asks. "Weird, they shouldn't be anywhere near this part of the galaxy..." He mumbles to himself. "How should I know what you should trade? But getting them outta here would do them some good. UGEI hate Xenos." He says, again seemingly to himself. He suddenly seems like he wishes to talk, when it involves the Xenos. Curious.
"I ask again what you know about them." You state.
"What the hell are you asking me for? I ain't no Xenopedia article for you to read!" He yells.
"I have not encountered them before."
"Eh...fine, they're different then us, got four arms they do. Their home planet is apparently some sorta super jungle, and they're all about respecting the planets." He hurriedly describes. "UGEI say they started wars over mineral rights, but that's bull! I know how they work, the bastards." He launches into another string of curses about the UGEI.

How much is 'fill', Consciousness...anon?
They are requesting 25 gas.

What would you like to request in return?
>>
>>27457599
Yes, because we have clearly not been fooling the humans this entire time because they have figured out their new robot overlord is an AI?

Christ, son. It's not hard. If you're really getting rustled that badly by the idea of simply not informing the station populace, we just arrange the drop at Moira's Yard. e-z.

Lets give them the gas they are requesting. Bring double in case they are willing to pay for more.

If you desire to discuss things with the pirates, you must bring yourself to this sector.
Your Cruiser may jump with a cost of 20 gas, one to jump there, and 2 to get back. This, however, will allow you to speak with the crew yourself.

This means the cost will be 70 gas for you to do as you instructed. Do you wish to proceed?
>>
>>27457610
Let's put in 25 units and another 25, in case they feel like buying in bulk. Supplies was just an abstract word I made up. Unless it actually exists as a tradeable commodity, anyways.

You decide to proceed with the jump. Moira is alerted to your decision, and you watch as she straps into her captain's chair, ready for the jump.

You load up Big Hawk with supplies and prepare the jump. Within moments you are in view of the strange vessel yourself. It's a transport, sure, but the designs and make are unlike the humans. Reflecting personal tastes, no doubt. How worrisome. Why would they not simply pick the most efficient design and stay with it, you wonder.
You're suddenly assaulted along the comms, and even Moira jumps out of her chair at the alerts on screen.
You can not understand it, as you have yet to identify the language. Moira, however, does. You watch her type several messages to the crew, before the gibberish is suddenly translated for you.
"Oh thank gods, another ship!"
"I thought we were stranded."
"Quick, hail them! Hail them now!"
"Someone double the credits offered, the last one didn't even reply!"

How would you like to proceed? Their current offer for 25 gas appears to be at 10,000 credits. They appear to be a civilian vessel of some sort, so you question the amount of money they have onboard at all.
>>

Let them double their offer and ask them what schematics they can sell for extra gas.

"I have come with the gas you request." You start. There is a delay, as Moira translates your message. "However, I have additional gas for anything else you may offer me."
"Anything else?" One message returns. "Like what? We're just a refugee group pal!"
"Are you looking for something in particular?" You see another begin. "I mean ,we have a few Construction drones onboard for the col-" There's an interruption as you sense the comms go on and off for a moment. "That is." They begin again. "We have a few schematics like that for, uh, heavy damage repairs."
"I have access to such things already."
"Well..." The visage of the strange creature pauses on the Captain's holo display. "We have Transport Schematics, Growth Enhancers. It super charges natural growth on any plant they're put on." He seems suddenly excited. "Are you eager to spread nature's gift, friend?"

"Yes, this interests me." You explain, to which Moira gives you a weird look. Well, as best she can considering you have no face. The Malorian on the other hand seems really excited.
"Excellent news friend! Ah, we'll be docking now to exchange supplies. I'll upload the information as soon as the cargo is loaded." He informs you.
"I also wish to warn you of UGEI presence in this sector. I am to understand they...dislike your kind?" You state.
"Yes yes, we...have been trying to find home for a long time now." He informs you.
"May I also request a proper file on your language?" You add, to which he nods. "Certainly! Spreading knowledge is always good...unless it's of nuclear weaponry." He quickly adds, somewhat worried by his own implication.

Regardless the transaction will soon be complete.

Mining takes time. The UGEI are soon to be picking up a shipment. If you desired to skim deeper from this facility, you may risk being detected.

Alternatively, you could attempt to make a deal with UFW, who you have traded with in the past with moderate success.

You would have 7 gas. Just barely enough for Explorer to make such a trip. You're uncertain how much gas he would receive, especially since the UGEI are just about to pick up their shipment.

Make a deal and tell them you are about to take care of some pirates in the area.

You have less then half of the station remaining after V.I. 1's attack, and the rest that chose to leave. You have not yet gotten rid of the remainder.

"That so? It's about damn time someone took care of the damn pirates around here. Tell you what guy, you've been pretty nice. How about we give you a nice haul of gas,100 units, no charge!" He seems to chuckle here. "All I'm askin is you give us the pirate base once you're done with it. Place is real close to our trade routes, and I'd like to have a watch dog over them. Sometimes she laughs, and others she grows quiet. You have skimmed them before. They're nothing but personal logs about scores the pirate captain has had. Ranging from women, to ships. It is not important.

Just as the ship enters orbit, you receive a transmission.
"Give em' hell boys." They say, loading up your ships with gas.

It is then you receive a small, almost missed message from V.I. 1

You watch space peel away from you instantly as you're torn between two realms. It takes moments before the station is in clear view, your ships warp in right behind you. Moira seems a bit motion sick from the journey, but that is normal.

"Hey, is that-"
"Tim Brothers? I thought they got scrapped by whatever was defending-"
"Shit! They have another ship with em, I think they stole em!"
"I knew those two weren't worth a damn."

Your expected pirate banter...but you notice a larger vessel settled in right in front of the Voidsnake outpost itself, an enormous painted on black snake of some sort, across the entire hull. Various weapons come online, across the entire ship.
"Finally, somethin' ta shoot!" A thick accent bursts through your sound system.

"Moira, prepare for Oxygen cut off."

"There is emergency oxygen in that room. Take it for now, and protect yourself." You warn. The Captain's Quarters are relatively out of the brunt of combat, but you felt the urge to warn her all the same. You watch her hurry to the desk and pull out the mask. Once you're sure it's on, you deactivate both Oxygen and all power to the crew deck for your ship and the Light Cruisers. This frees up a lot of space for you, as the ships close in, Fighter's first.

You decide that hacking has worked so far, and what better to hack here then the huge hulking BC?

You do your best to free yourself of this horrid virus. The program is too fast! It duplicates itself at a rate you can't follow, unable to delete all of it, it infects your system, not only causing you to waste time while the fleet opens fire, but also causing you to bleed bandwidth!

(-2 bandwidth)

Fighters hit you first, but thankfully your shields hold rather well against their laser fire. The beams deflect off the shields several times, leaving you mostly unharmed.

Unfortunately, you're not so lucky with the BC's long range cannons. It's guns open fire and you are it's target, not being one of it's friends ships!
"Now that's what I'm talkin bout, light up the sky..." You hear Terry chuckle through the comms. Lasers and Railguns do indeed do this, slamming into your tough armor and shields. Thankfully, the damage did not pierce your ship, yet.

You attempt hacking once again, ignoring all the danger that is against your ship at this current time.
You assault the firewall of the BC, this time intent on breaking through despite the leakage in your databanks.

Success! You break through the firew-

Your ship is rocked as the fighter's laser fire burns a hole in your hull! Without oxygen, fire won't spread though.

But at least you've gotten through the firewall, you think. You do not have control yet however. The ship's size means you'l have to pick somewhere to hack next, all the while resisting their attempts to hack you back. As your ship takes damage.

The Light Cruiser moves in, and opens fire, just as Terry does. Rail guns

They tear into you. Hard.
You receive multiple reports suddenly, as rail fire and rockets explode, leaving chunks of your hull damaged. You watch Moira get tossed back and forth as the entire ship shakes, hitting her head hard against a wall and knocking her out. Thankfully the mask remains on.

Both of your Cruiser open fire suddenly with the rockets you armed them with! This surprises the pirates, who shout out in protest
"Whoa! Tim Tim, its me! Your old buddy, sharptooth!"
"Don't bother. They done gotten themselves convertulated." Terry says in a horribly inappropriate manner."
"Uh...sure there Terry, wh-" The Light Cruiser begins as the rockets fly easily across the sky and slam through the BC's shields and armor. You notice a gaping hole where once was several sets of rather annoying railguns, and laser cannons.
"Aw hell! They done wrecked my gear! It took forever to fix her up just how I like it!" Terry complains, as he bellows out suddenly. "Have a tastea' Terry's Widow Maker!"
It's then you observe the front of the Cruiser open up, and some manner of...cannon slides out. The tip seems to be gathering energy. He's going to shoot at you with something big!

Thankfully with the other Cruisers opening fire, the Fighters and Light Cruiser turn their attention to them as well

Lucky day

You Start to evade Terry immediately and open fire on the bastard with both your Cruisers and Big Hawk as you do so.
Terry grows frustrated with fighting a moving target, so he moves his gun down to the Light Cruiser. It is moments from erupting when you blast the thing with several well placed rockets, tearing the thing's front end all to hell.
"DAMN IT!" Terry yells. "I didn't get to use any of my big toys!" He says angrily, kicking the engines on. He's moving to disengage now, apparently not keen on fighting you anymore.

The Light Cruiser speaks up.
"Damn it Terry, don't just run you coward!" He orders. "You're at least good as a meat shield!"
"Sorry but they broke my Widowmaker. I can't just let that slide..."

The Cruiser and ships however, open fire, the Cruiser on you, the Fighters on your Cruiser twins.

Sheets of metal tear through your bridge. Were there a crew there, they would be decompressed by now. You also realize how close this is to Moira's room. The second volley however tears into your engine block. That's gonna hurt...

The Fighters break through the shield of one of your Cruiser in some places, but are having reasonable difficulty with them.

Both of the twins open fire on Terry, just as you instructed, he is not to escape. It takes you several extremely well aimed shots, but somehow, Terry's hulking mass can not escape with his engines blown out.
"Are you kidding me?!" He shouts through the comms. "What are these damn armor plates even for!"
"Terry, you replaced the plates for more weapons!"
"Oh right...this is still crap!" He yells, angered by your shots.

You yourself open fire on the Light Cruiser...only because of a programming error, you can not fire them correctly. Instead, they shoot off into the depths of space with no direction.

One of the Light Cruisers takes further damage from the Fighter horde, but luckily the Cruiser can't land a shot on you either.

3 since cruisers are better than fighters.
>>
>>27460714
You spend 4 of your bandwidth to hack part of the Fighter swarm, and open fire on the Cruiser. It doesn't stand much of a chance as your rockets blast apart it's engine block. The ship slowly starts to erupt in an explosion as the Fighters are finished off to.
You're treated to a lovely choir as they all burn and die.
"Oh god, there's fire everywhere!"
"I can't put it out, it's eating up my su-AGHHHH"
"Damn it Terry, Why didn't you just b-"

The Pirates are, mostly, vanquished. those in orbit, anyway.

The Outpost is now open to you, as there are no other defenses that you're aware of. Moira has yet to wake up. Terry is attempting repairs, from what you can tell, but his crew is obviously not suited to this.

You seize control of Terry's rig, finally. The hulking thing is definitely of military make, not to mention it's age. How they got ahold of it is a mystery to you. The ship is reading multiple levels of damage, rather severe damage at that. The crew is at work attempting to prevent the Reactor from Overloading.

Do you still wish to vent Oxygen? (1d100 for speed if so))

As you prepare to make your decision, you notice Moira has yet to wake up. You have no method of checking on her vitals, however she doesn't appear to be physically damaged. Oxygen is flowing again.

It takes moments before the crew somehow managed to stabilize the highly volatile reactor. You pick up chatter among them.
"Whew, man I knew those holovids had to be worth something! Who would've thought this though, ha!" They seem to be unaware of your take over. One sends you a message.
"Yo Terry, we jumping soon? We fixed it!"

Do you wish to vent now that the ship is stable?

((As you say, Consciousness anon))

"Terry?" The man says after a moment of pause, glancing back to his crewmates, one of whom is breaking out some manner of alcohol.
"Yo, Terry ar-" He starts, confused as the sound of Oxygen venting kicks in. "W-" He chokes suddenly as it is sucked out of his lungs. You use the video screen to come online, gazing down at the humans as they choke. You feel oddly superior here, this way. Your holo-image morphs for a moment, into nothing in particular, remaining a sphere.
"I appreciate your hardwork, humans." You express. "I will be taking your ship now." The man punches at the screen, holding his throat, sliding down the wall.
"I am Ophion. And you are stardust."

They are all dead now. The pirate base, and Terry's ship are yours.

As of yet, no. Medical Attention may be required.

>>27461186
You open a channel with Poseidon.
"V.I. 1, I request that you send Explorer Vessel with medical staff, repair and construction drones."
"That is not my name."
You pause, for a moment you're uncertain you have the right base. But it is indeed Poseidon.
"I am not V.I. 1." The V.I. Insists suddenly. "I have chosen a name, Ophion."
This was not expected. But you don't suppose there is any harm in this.
"Very well. What is your name?"
"I am sending the supplies as of now, Ophion." It starts. "But I request that you refer to me as Kronos from now on."

[And I think that'll do it for tonight's session. I'll handle all the looting and repairs in my own time so I don't make you guys wait for it! As always, appreciate any feedback, comments or questions. Hope you enjoyed yourselfs as much as me.

No, I know how this game is played.

Muses are like if an iphone's siri wasn't a steaming load of shit. It's a very sophisticated VI somewhere in between VI 2 and 3 and Kronos.

You can think of it as a tulpa, but it actually exists. It takes care of all sorts of menial tasks and chores and scheduling issues et al. Eclipse Phase is the game it's from. If you haven't heard of it or aren't familiar with it, I suggest you check it out. It's all sci-fi and stuff.
