You are a waifu- an entity created to be a romantic interest for the narrative surrounding the protagonist. In this case, a total jerk. You are supposed to hang on every word, fawn over every deed, sigh wistfully at the mere thought of him.

You have other plans. You are sentient in a story of cardboard cutouts, forced to work around the rules of this horrid world.

You're in the dining room, having just finished reflecting over your newly acquired three eyed kitten (Possibly named Cringer) that accompanied a new power boost when Konoko sits down, contemplating it.

"So, how are you justifying the kitten?"
"Justifying? I found it in a locker room is all."
"That's just begging for trouble," Konoko reaches a hand to the kitten who fluffs up again at her. Konoko frowns, "Well, think about it. I doubt we'll have much more time alon-"

Mid word, you hear the door slam open behind you, causing you to jump. Anon's back, of course.

"I..." He makes a feeble coughing sound, "Home..."

He has a way of sensing when things AREN'T about him for a moment, doesn't he? You see Konoko roll her eyes, then leap up to run- causing your kitten to flip out, and hide under the table. Blanket. Table blanket thing. Kotatsu?

"Anon-kun!" Konoko shouts around the corner. Right, you have to rush to his aid. You stand, stretch, pop your knuckles. Time to play team medic.

Then you hear some tapping in the kitchen. Sounds like tapping on the window.

"Oh no, Anon-kun! He's hurt bad, Miko-chan, hurry!"

You spare a moment to look to the kitchen- you can't see jack from here. Why now?

>Your move.

Guess we gotta help Anon this time.

Can our Ki Skills make out/see what it is from where we are?
>>
You spare another glance to the kitchen, jogging to the front entrance. Weird. You're not getting any ping that there's something wicked or anything strong in ki that way either. So, probably not an antagonist over there. You actually don't know what the range on your evildar is, come to think of it, so who knows. Maybe it's Riritu.

"Miko!" Konoko shouts, a little exasperated. Weird. Oh well.

You hurry to the anteroom, and see Anon collapsed just on the lip in to the house, held in Konoko's arms, face puffed up in bruises, blood dripping from his nose, and god damn it he lost his shirt again. Why does he keep doing this? He looks up at the sight of you, giving a smile- not missing any teeth you notice.

"S-S-Sorry...Miko-chan. I just had to find out..." Then he slumps over. What a little bitch, the damage is entirely cosmetic.

"Anon-kun?" Konoko shakes Anon. He makes some kind of moaning noise, but is otherwise unresponsive, "Anon-kun, are you okay?" Konoko glances left then right, then leans in and whispers something to him. No response. Konoko nods, shoves him off of her lap, and stands up, "Yep. Out cold."

"What'd you say to him?" You ask, stepping forward. A bit miffed that you didn't get a chance to say some sort of emotional lament.

"Just something he wouldn't be able to ignore," Konoko mumbles, looking down at him, then looks up at you with a frown, "You gonna make out with him now, or what?"

"Sleeping beauty? Well, yeah, it's my schtick."
"He doesn't know about your...Magic yet though, right?" Konoko seems worried, "You can change that, right?"
"He was totally checking me out in the reflection, he knows what I'm doing, and I don't have the points to cover an asspull- wait, why are you so worried about this?"
Konoko blushes, looks away, "I don't want to do a 'she stole your first kiss Anon!' scene this early."

Fair point. You glance down at Anon. There seems to be a scrap of torn paper in his back pocket. Strange Konoko didn't notice.

>"I don't want to do a 'she stole your first kiss Anon!' scene this early."

Nonsense, it is medical procedure! You don't get all flustered when the doctor touches your fiddly bits during a routine physical do you? Is the same thing!

Also, look at that scrap of paper. Time to snoop!
>>

Maybe we shouldn't be so blatant about grabbing the paper in front of Konoko?

I really don't trust her.
>>
>>27443013
Yeah, that works. Since this doesn't appear that bad, just a smooch on the forehead or hand would probably be enough.
>>
Quick heal on the forehead and paper nab. Writing.
>>
>>27443034
Why? She seems pretty on the level. And she clearly trusts us as proven by quest mechanics.
>>
>>27443078
Not him, but Konoko has been around or had an "accident" whenever the world has tried to go darker.

She's not exactly innocent, not guilty either, but her being sentient makes her suspect.
>>
>>27443105
I...what? I don't really see what you're getting at, to be honest. Also, the world has had an attempted dark shift twice. The first was her because she thought we were trying to kill her and we talked her down, and the second was probably Riritu who seems to have her own weird agenda.
>>
>>27443176
What I'm saying is, that to a certain point of view, Konoko is the one who might want the world to be dark so she can kill of everyone but her and anon. Or maybe anon too.

Riritu seems to be a standard insert character and not sentient, so she's a mild annoyance at worst if we play it right.

Just my view though, could be wrong.
>>
>>27443262
Riritu is gaining waifu points. With, in all likelyhood, somebody other than Anon. Probably us. Plus she tried to influence us. She's probably sentient.
>>
>>27443300
Meh, 50-50 until we get more.

Repeated blank influences seem scripted, not sentient.
>>
You don't notice details for no reason. As tempting as it is to avoid the plot hook, probably best to follow the yellow brick road for now. You grab the paper, glance at it. Looks like some kind of lab report stuff.

"Don't worry about it, I don't want to deal with that crap anyway," You turn Anon over face up, "A quick kiss on the forehead will do the trick. Not instant healing though, it's some of that boost over time crap."
"Hmm," Konoko frowns, "Well, later on, surreptitiously tell Anon that you had to argue with me about it anyway. What's that thing?"
"Paper?" You shrug glance at it again. 'Codename: Mar-'. How convenient that it's written in English, in JAPAN. You sincerely doubt that will be a plot point, "Some kind of lab kind of crap."
"Can I see?"
"Sure," You pass the paper over to Konoko, then clasp your hands. You shut your eyes, gather your will for a moment, do the generic 'mystic magic' shit. You mumble some mystical kinds of words ("Chakra, Siddharta, Onimusha, Gargamel...") until you're properly glowing enough.

Then, you lean over Anon's face, pulling a lock of hair from your eyes, and place your lips on his forehead.

Your ki sense goes off immediately. You open your eyes. So, this guy won't be one of those guys that has low mystical potential and then grow in to it, you guess. His aura is going off like a bonfire- and you're finding it difficult to separate yourself from him. He's draining you of ki- you break the connection immediately, shivering at a sudden chill.

Oh, one of THOSE relationships. 'Damn this curse that we can never be together!' Not all bad you suppose. You back away, shivering, staring, as Anon is suffused in a glow like a blacklight. God, what an angsty motherfucker. But sure enough, you see his wounds sealing, bruises fading, blood running back in to his wounds. Still passed out like a wuss though.

"Uh, Miko?" Konoko glances over to you, raises an eyebrow, "Are you okay?"

Anon's vulnerable.

>Your move.
>>
>>27443262
I personally don't see any evidence for that. The impression I'm getting is that she's kind of a rookie at this whole thing and really just wants to make it through this story without anything horrible happening to her.
>>
>>27443333

"No, besides being a peeping ass he's an angsty spotlight hog who sucks kii. On the bright side I have a reason to stay away when I can."
>>
>>27443333
She might be a rookie but I think she is more desperate than anything

>>
>>27443395
>>27443370
Communicating.
>>
>>27443402
We can share points though. JOLLY COOPERATION is a total possibility. So, why would she worry about that?
>>
>>27443457
Because maybe someone went jolly cooperation and then decided to backstab her afterwards and take the top spot for herself?
>>
>>27443481
That's entirely possible. Doesn't change the fact that she trusts us, though.
>>
>>27443523
I dunno, she only sorta trusts us.
I mean, we did get off to a bad start.
>>
"Well, I don't have to stay near him," You grumble, standing up, "He's some kind of ki sponge or something. Twenty bucks says he complains about having a dark soul that needs to be filled with light eventually."
"Really?" Konoko raises an eyebrow, folding up the paper you gave her and slipping it in to her pocket, "So...You get near him, and he-" She frowns, "There's really no good way to say this with out you snickering about an innuendo, is there?"
"When have I ever been anything less than serious?"
"Right, whatever. You get near him, you get feeble and he gets strong, right?"
"Only if I open up a ki link, Konoko. Weird. You'd think this would have been foreshadowed more."

"Yeah, weird," Konoko grabs Anon-kun under the armpits, "You grab his legs, let's tuck this jerk in to his bed."

A part of you was tempted to try to take the quick way out your private Hell, and just having Anon suffer an accident. But you rightly figure the narrative would probably put a stop to that. With a grunt, you grab his legs, and haul the asshole in to his room.

He liked to put on the airs of being well read- you glance across the room. Dark, a computer with three monitors taking center place by the bed, but the rest of the walls were covered in books. Window was taped shut too, with some kind of wall scrolls blocking it off. The bed mat was large- double sized, strangely. You try to focus on the titles, but apparently Anon hadn't decided at this point- science, occult, famous deep authors, oh there's Proust, go to for pretension.

The pair of you throw anon in bed, and get him tucked in.

"Right, so, he should probably wake up in the middle of the night and be all mumbly revealing tragic backstory, you wanna get that, or should I? Cheap waifu points," Konoko points out.

Well. There are other things you can do in the middle of the night than just throw away your dignity. Especially since you have a plot reason to stay away from Anon. Like finding that tapping.

>>
"You take it, you're childhood friend, right? That's your role- sides, I'm still a bit wonky from that plot twist," You sway convincingly, "See? I'm so tuckered out. I'm gonna go grab Cringer and go to bed."
"We still need to talk about that name," Konoko does not approve of cross show references apparently. She grabs the skin above the elbow, and twists it, wincing, tears springing to her eyes.
"He cringes all the time, it fits! Stop being such a killjoy."
"Yeah, okay," Konoko kneels by Anon, sniffing now with proper tears flowing from her eyes, "Whatever. See you in the morning."
"Night, Konoko."

You step out of the room, sliding the door shut. As soon as you do, you hear the kind of stuttered mew that only running kittens can produce. Cringer jogs up to you, all three eyes focused on you in worry. And you note, he has a mess of tuna around his mouth. Sloppy eater.

You grab him, pick him up, put him on your shoulder- immediately he dives for your silly hat, nestling under it. Convenient. Wait, you were wearing a hat this whole time? Whatever. He's warm up there, purring up a storm.

Time to go investigating. You begin in the kitchen- night fell fast around here, a good sign. You don't have much of a chance of finding crap in the day, aside from clues of its passing. You lean in at the window, and see it there- the clear impression of a finger print.

It would have to be human then.

You step out in to the garden, and immediately Cringer stops purring. Also a good sign, you've found someone.

Up on the roof, leaning over the tiles is a dark blur- a strange shape. Lazy fucking description. You focus. Roughly the shape of a human head, behind the peak of the roof.

"You came. It's a voice like static, shaped in to words. A formless noise, only notable for interrupting the background, not through any spirit of its own."

It just described itself, you realize. Accurately, too.

In the garden, you're at the boundary of Anon's attention.

Static talking is going to get real frustrating, real damn quick.

"It's real god damn late at night- and I'm not a fan of self narration. Which, by the way, is real damn unoriginal. Make this quick."

The static picks up in noise, causing you to wince a bit, before it forms again.

"She hesitates to speak, shivering as much from fear as from cold in the crisp night air-"
"Why don't you speak like a normal person?" Your patience is running thin. That last plot twist is really setting your nerves on edge, making you moody.
"...She can not explain here. You have to follow me, she says, not without a degree of hesitation. She is afraid of this house."
"Afraid of the house? Why?"
"She recalls a memory... One of the few ones she has-" The static peaks to an agonizing high tone, before subsiding, "It was how I lost. I was displaced. I upset...She breaks out of her reverie, tears and sweat flowing freely. She can not say any more. Can not say any more. The one that did this is distant now, but will return. Not much time."

You glance around the garden. Anon's room has a dim yellow light in it. Perhaps a candle?

"Would you mind being more specific?"
"She can not. She needs to flee. You hear the scrabble of tiles, as she crawls away shivering in terror-"
"Knock off the Misaka act!"
"Meet me at the diner, alone, she pleads. It is the last thing you hear."

The static fades. Leaving you scowling. Your cat mrrs, crawling out from under your hat, trying to get down to the ground. You grab the fluff ball before he scratches your pretty face. Cringer stares up, all three eyes focusing on you with rapt attention.

Going to the diner would cost you waifu points. Especially if you had to go alone.

...Or, you could use that good for nothing antagonist you made in the first meeting, and have a 'borderline kidnapping' scene. Would be dicey making sure he didn't ACTUALLY kidnap you though.

Then again, it's probably a trap anyway.

That's a BAD idea. That's basically Spiral Nemesis, which gives him an excuse to escalate and go full Simon.
>>
>>27444556
Yeah, I wasn't here last thread, but I was surprised that we didn't share with Konoko that obvious foreshadowing.
>>
>>27444561
Enh, we need a way to get out of anon's shadow eventually. Maybe not the best idea, but it's something.
>>
>>27444553
We tell her it's for the greater good and the liberation movement. Who wouldn't understand?
>>
>>27444587
I think our best bet is to just reveal him as the dickwaffle he is.
>>
>>27444603
Well, really, I'm sure that everybody would like to play it on the safe side when concerning our friendship with Konoko, so I don't think that there will be that many who would support your idea.
>>
>>27444624
What a brilliant, realistic, and well thought out plan that is. All in favor, say aye!
>>
You gently rap your knuckles on the door, sliding it open a smidge. Konoko's sitting back against the wall in tank top and pajama pants, chewing on pocky and flicking paper wads at the sleeping form of Anon. You see there's quite a pile forming on him. She's got good aim. And a nice exposed midriff. Ooh, abs. She lets fly one missile that bounces off of Anon's forehead dead on. She glances up at you.

"Nice shooting," You whisper.
"Yeah, just hoping the asshole would wake up sooner," She scratches at a rather unladylike spot, "I'm seriously bored. Also, this pocky tastes like shit, but it's all he has."
"No pancakes?"
"What?"
"Never mind. Real quick, I gotta head out to the diner- tell Anon I'm picking up cat food."
"Diner? Cat food- wait," Konoko checks her voice from yelling before leaning in, hissing, "What's going on?"
"Following a spooky voice's directions. I need some plot development while you're scarfing pocky and waifu points."
"Y-" She glances back at Anon. Still snoozing. She leans in and hisses, "How the HELL are you supposed to know about kitten food?"
"You told me?" You raise an eyebrow, "Duh."
"And where will you get the money."
"You gave it to me."
"Grf-" Konoko scowls at your flawless logic, "Fine. Just try to tie it back to sports crap, okay?"
"Sure, sure, no problem. Sides, this'll help that 'put upon' cliche you wanted to follow."
"Be still my beating heart," Konoko mumbles, resuming her previous position.

Then, a thought comes to you. You really actually haven't expressly mentioned about being able to draw waifu points from her, when in need. You hesitate behind the door crack, trying to think- but unbidden, the word slips from your mouth.

"Wait."

"What?" She glances up at you.

She looks up at you. Demure. Orange hair- short, kind of brushed up. Pale, trusting blue eyes. She's sentient, like you. Which could mean serious trouble. Or a friend.

>Figure we should lay this argument to rest now.

You know, if she's so bored, she could spend her time idly defining currently-undefined elements of Anon's room. I bet she could come up with some highly entertaining stuff for:
-Those books
-Contents of closets
-Contents of drawers
-What's under the bed
-Browser history on computer

Might be worth suggesting.
>>
>>27444755
At .06 it's a not a huge deal, but it's worth offering to split it with her, as well as letting her know what's up.
>>
>>27444774
Is that possible?

Though that might not work if he's sentient.
>>
>>27444807
To be fair, it's almost a full 1/3rd of her total points.
>>
>>27444815
Ooh, that's a good point. It'd be a good test to see if he's sentient, or if he's just too dumb to notice,
>>
>>27444807
We should treat Konoko's points as for use in emergencies only.

Because 0.06 isn't that much, we shouldn't dip into Konoko's pool of points for something so trivial.
>>
>>27444822
This plotline benefits us both, though. Konoko gets some solo time caring for Anon and doing her thang while we investigate our end. We both spend and we both gain.

At any rate, I'm simply suggesting we pitch it and see if she bites. As is, like I mentioned, I'm fine if we eat it...but there's no reason to not check if we have to bite the whole thing.

>>
>>27444834
I can't really agree with this. While what you're saying is logical, it isn't something you would do with a friend. You're negotiating, and if we want to improve our friendship with Konoko, we should avoid doing that. The only time we should negotiate (and the only time it is appropriate to do so with a friend) is when we're arguing over something important (like whether or not to kill Riritu).

If she offers to pay the cost of the trip for us, yay. If she doesn't, it's alright. That's how friendships work.
>>
>>27444896
I think we're going to have to agree to disagree about this particular point anon, since we seem to be approaching it fundamentally incompatible ways.
>>
>>27444930
>>27444896
I don't think we should ask her, but because that's too big of a gamble on her end to in good conscience ask her to take. But, if she offers there's no reason not to take her up on it.
>>
>>27444961
I believe it's not unreasonable for us to offer to split it because both characters have something to gain. Konoko gets some much needed Waifu Time with Anon, and we get some time away from Anon while we're sure Konoko is baby sitting.
>>
>>27444995
We've got over half again her points, though. But, that's just me. Not saying you're wrong, just that I see things differently.
>>
>>27445034
To wit I agreed, we seem mutually incompatible. It's not wrong, and neither of are somehow lesser for having contrary opinions, but like I noted we're going to need to agree to disagree on this particular point.
>>
>>27444995
>I believe it's not unreasonable for us to offer to split it because both characters have something to gain
If we'd asked earlier, I'd say sure. At this point we've already decided on what we're going to do without even asking her.

If there's a bigger point cost later that will benefit both of us, we can ask to split first so she can have some input.

Might be worth discussing if she wants to split with us on fighting/causing any world alignment changes (since they're split second decisions) when we get back.
>>
>>27445054
I don't think we're past the point of no return, once we full disclosure.

I'm actually a different, third guy. Sorry I was unsuccessful in getting that across, I never have been very good at communicating subtly through purely text.
>>
You're getting soft. You take a deep breath, look away. You're not sure if it's just soft hearted or soft headed. But she needs to know. You roll your eyes.

"Uhm. Look, Konoko- when we had our agreement."
"Yeah?" She narrows her eyes, "You're not backing out, are you?"
"What? God no, don't worry about that. It's just- you're the childhood friend, right, safe and secure?"
"Sure."
"Well."

You've been around for a while. You remember things- which is more than most sentients. You've been in many stories, long enough to learn that the Happy Epilogue is a myth, that there IS such a thing as a world beyond +5 or -5, and that protagonists CAN be killed. A lot of it's hazy- hard to dredge up through the narrative. You had to work hard to get to this point, to the point where there's this core of your being that can persist through the ends and the beginnings. You've had a long road to come this far.

You could lose it all so easily.

Yet, Konoko trusts you. You made an agreement. No hiding. You swallow the last of your doubt.

"When we made an agreement, we didn't just make an agreement agreement, a regular agreement bound by our senses of honor."

Konoko raises an eyebrow, but otherwise doesn't snark. This is going to sound corny, no matter what. You glance back to the garden, where just moments before there was the static voice. 2 of 7. Five more sentients are in this story, not including yourself.

"That feeling you get? Whenever you look at Anon, and he smiles at you, and you feel like you're just a little bit more there, more defined?"
"Waifu points, yeah," Konoko snorts, "I'm not a moron."
"I can...Borrow some of those from you."

She stares at you. Blank faced. Fuck, you're getting bashful. That was an ellipses back there. You glance at Anon. God, damn it. You lean through the door, whisper quietly.

"I can take your waifu points."
"What?" Konoko finally gets it, color draining from her face.

>Konoko connection. Severed.
>Konoko connection. Reestablished.
>>
You wince, preparing yourself for her fury as she looks down, lips pursed. Her eyes go back and forth, as if reading the floor. She closes her eyes, breathes out.

"I...I see, huh," She chews a lip for a moment, then looks up, "Can this work both ways?"
"Sure, yeah," You don't hide the relief in your voice, "I can teach you."
"Good. Yeah," She's looking at Anon. Probably making sure he isn't waking up, "Makes sense. We need every advantage we can get, right?"

Oh thank goodness. Konoko is cool. You were worried there for a moment. She carefully sidles over to you at the door.

"I realize, there was a lot of stuff going on Miko- you didn't really have the time. But let's make this a two way street sooner, rather than later, okay?"

"I'll see what I can do, but for now?" You point at the kitten on your head, "I got side plot to develop. Say, mind loaning me-"
"Not happening."
"Right, sorry."
"See you later, friend."

You walk away. That went well really. You can figure out the two way point exchange later, but Konoko was remarkably relaxed. Gave you a bit of a scare there. You can get the rest of it settled later tonight- or at school.

>Lost 0.06 waifu points! New waifu level 0.29!

You grab a shopping bag for a prop, and slip on some shoes- after a moment's thought, you get yourself in your original outfit. Narrative mojo doesn't affect MUCH when it comes to metanarrative throwdowns, but any edge is better than none.

The streets are dark here- cherry blossoms drift under foot as you walk for the diner. The further you get from the house, the more the color drains away, and things get black and white. But then suddenly it reverses. Details. But all wrong, jumbled. Messed up.
>>
You hear crowds talking about the beautiful maid that caused a stir in the diner, when no one, not even the anonymous ghosts are around. You see sun light glinting off of light poles lit for the dark. You feel the cold bite of winter, and really wish your arm pits were covered. Details. All wrong, but details are this way.

You hardly recognize the diner when you get to it. It's sunny with warm light inside, what parts you can see against the glare of the street light, despite it being night time. The shapes walking in front of the diner stretch thin like images through a fish eye lens, before filling out on the other side, and disappearing the moment they pass the diner's corner. You taste burnt coffee on the air. You think to yourself, unbidden, that somebody left the coffee on too long. Check for table three.

Something's wrong in this diner. You hear Cringer above you make that high, peaked moan that cats make right before they start hissing.

You've come this far. But something here makes you hesitate. You don't have many points. It'd be hard to come up with an escape on the fly, if need be. Courage, or prudence?

>Your move.
>>
>>27445164
Courage. Might as well see what old static wanted from us.
>>
>>27445164

(After finishing up my dinner and attending another need) Writing.
>>
>>27445245
You might be just a tad too paranoid.
>>
>>27445245
Not at all. We told her about it, didn't attempt to use it without asking her, and did so right after giving up a potentially lucrative opportunity for points to her.

I'd be rather surprised if she took that any other way.
>>
What would happen if a non-independent sentient tries to waifu another non-independent sentient?
Would it instantly fail, like Riritu does?

Also, can we draw points off Riritu? It's not like she's using them, or wants them.
>>
[x]prudence. We run back home. Then we tell Anon-kun all about it, and how scared we are (hiLARious over the top fear of ghosts), he comes in to protect us, and reveals that it was nothing suspicious at all. We gain Waifu points from all of this. And then in the background some little thing shows that there was really something to it after all.

-----------------
bets that the voice is his sister and he's not a nice anon-kun at all but is a "secretly evil but pretending to be good and doing a bunch of white knighting as a result" anon
>>
>>27445271
We can only draw points from Konoko because we made a...friendship I guess, with her and she trusts us. So, no we probably can't get points from Riritu yet.
>>
>>27445271
>Also, can we draw points off Riritu?
Not as of yet. Need social link.
>It's not like she's using them, or wants them.
That's a lot of assumptions there, Anon. I doubt she'll even have waifu points if she's not sentient.

>>27445284
The Anon-kun who's currently out cold?

Besides, the static's fear is likely of Anon-kun. Bringing him out here is just going to scare it off.
>>
You know what we need? A mcguffin. Some magical thingamabob intrinisically linked to us but that reacts to Anon's overwhelming "potential" such that he can wield it far better than us.
>>
Rolled 75

>>27445310
I think that's what we don't want actually.

Our main goal is to be independent of anon.

Macguffin's have a nasty habit of bringing people together.
>>
>>27445310
Eeeh, Anon's asspulling enough power for himself without us dropping a magical superweapon in his lap. I don't really want that psychopath to get too powerful.
>>
>>27445304
Scaring it off so that "there's nothing there miko" is his response is kind of the point. It will earn us waifu points as he thinks he tripped a relationship advancement trigger
>>
>>27445301
>>27445304
It shouldn't be too hard to establish a social link with Riritu. All it requires is a bit of tolerance to her Kuroko antics.

>I doubt she'll even have waifu points if she's not sentient.
See
>>Riritu's Waifu Level: Unknown. Increasing.

This is something to think, too. How can her points be increasing? Even he should know, based off the only time he saw us interacting with her, that she doesn't swing his way.
>>
>>27445328
I was mostly thinking along the lines of a rock that glows at his touch or something. And then HE can spend the narrative points to make it actually do something, while we milk the mystery plot of what it is (and being linked to a source of power for him) for waifu points
>>
>>27445350
We can even spin that into the sports plot Konoko wants. We tell him we'll have more of an idea of what the stone does if we join whatever sports thing Konoko wants.
>>
>>27445350
He might have a functionally infinite supply of points for all we know. He seems to be able to do whatever he want with the narrative so long as it retains consistency. And that still comes with the problem of leashing ourselves to him.
>>
>>27445334
At best that means we need to go investigate our clue again later, and at a time when Anon-kun is actually awake and likely to notice a a prolonged absence.

At worst we find no clue, lose plot point for a few waifu points and end up looking even more like a damsel in distress, plus interrupt Konoko's chance to play nurse with Anon-kun.

If we were going for waifu points, staying back and playing nurse worked better and cost us nothing.

>>27445346
>Riritu's Waifu Level: Unknown. Increasing.
Damn, I forgot about that. I think she's sentient, and just pretending - I don't see her being an NPC. The continued attempts to influence us are weird, but might just be to convince us that she's not sentient (or is very dumb).

>>27445350
>And then HE can spend the narrative points to make it actually do something
Narrative points are to go against the world and change it.

An artifact which is already created wouldn't take narrative points to work. Making it do more than it currently does (unlock a power-up) would.
>>
>>27445346
She's Waifu'd to us, is I think what was going on last thread. That's my speculation, though, but how else?
>>
Lurking.
>>27443402
>>27443333
As anyone in the military, out at sea or working in a hospital will tell you, scared people are both stupid and dangerous to everyone around them.
Riritu might be an enemy, but Konoko is a liability which is a lot worse.
>>
>>27445410
I was figuring that she was an antagonist waifu and got points from impeding anon.
>>
>>27445427
So what, she's SIE?
>>
>>27445433
Or the typical reformed villainess pre-reformation.
>>
>>27445416
And we just gave that liability reason to stop bing a liability and an even bigger liablity at the same time.
>>
>>27445410
Demonic contract?

Has contact with Anon-kun we don't know about?

Another main character (villian possibly) who can dispense points like Anon-kun?

If we gave out waifu points, shouldn't Konoko have gotten some by now?
>>
>>27445416
I have a hard time trusting the word of someone who doesn't know who Bill Murray is.
>>
>>27445400
WRT to the magical rock: I meant that literally ALL IT DOES is glow at his touch. We could probably do that with straight up magic without any Waifu points spend. That's how much investment WE put into it, but meanwhile he's going to drive himself nuts trying to figure out a way to unlock it's true power. Worst comes to worst, he figures out much later that it just lights up at his touch ... then we admit that it was just a "training tool" to get him to hone his abilities.

Actually, let's not even GIVE it to him, let's do a very poor job of trying to hide it from him, and then he'll either try to look into it or we'll "accidentally" drop it so he'll pick it up.

To play into Konoko's thing, we could have it light up somewhat brighter on sports fields
>>
>>27445416
And abandoning her after she put her trust in us would make us selfish bastards little better than Anon.
>>
Also, tomorrow morning let's playfully wake him up by tickling him with a feather or something
>>

>>27445473
Giving him the rock might make the powers be discounted. I think trying to keep him on the track of school stuff is a much better distraction. It'll limit his searching and mischief making to outside school hours, moreso if he's watching us or Konoko practice.

There are two of us, so if we can waste his time and keep him from doing dangerous stuff, we come out ahead.

>>27445593
We can slow him down and keep him from going searching for trouble if we're there.

>So slow. Sorry folks.

You push the diner door open. It twists. Hard.

"She is standing in front of you, curled up in the ragged remains of what might once have been a school uniform- she's young, young and pretty-"
"Oh knock it off," You growl, trying to get orientation.

The diner more resembles a crater- at the edges, a sunny room, filled with uninteresting patrons having conversation- but at the center, the floor falls away to somewhere else- the edges reflective and shining. No light emanates from it, but it's blinding to look on nonetheless.

Down is a bit controversial here, and you have to grab at tacky crap on the wall to be sure you're not falling in to the hole. God it hurts to look out. Blinking away the stars in your eyes, you squint at the figure opposite.

It's like someone took a sander to a girl. You see the corner of a blue ponytail- a dimple from a mischievous grin- a soft, pink fingernailed hand holding on to a pinker hello kitty cell phone- plaid skirt-

But everything else is in that same gray you can see when you enter areas the narrative hasn't described. You squint at her, but she hurts your eyes to look at. You look away.

"She is somewhat offended at the rude, rather plain girl's tone- but wearily resigns herself to forgiving her."

The static sounds acidic to your ears.

"Okay, can you drop the self narrating already? What do you want?"
"She gathers herself up, trying not to weep at the tragedy of it, and explains that she is-"
"Anon-kun's younger sister Konoko, yeah, I already guessed that," You glance around. Huh. You were supposed to be here. Good thing you got out of here before whatever the Hell this is happened.

"She starts at this revelation, staring at the girl who would look better with a bit of eyeshadow and a bit of a work out, you know what happened to me then?"
"Doesn't take a genius. You hate the house, Anon's missing a sister, and somehow, Konoko ended up with your name- er, the existing Konoko. Not you."
>>
"She brings a hand to her chin in contemplation, I see then, she murmurs sagaciously-"

"Enough chatter, the beautiful red haired girl angrily growled," You growl, "Cut to the chase, freak."

The lights dim for a moment- and you see with a bit more clarity the ragged edge of the girl. She casts a long shadow, a good eight or ten feet. You stand your ground. She's not even really here, as far as narrative goes. She's a ragged remnant that needs to die.

"Konoko wonders at how long her patience can hold, as she grits her teeth in frustration."

You roll your eyes, "I'm sorry, Konoko," You do your best to copy her monotone, but fail.

"Konoko humbly accepts the apology of the red haired girl. She starts simply, idly scratching at a table, I wonder if you recognize this diner? She points to the place behind the bar, where cat ears remain untouched."

"I started here, yeah. What of it?"
"A bittersweet grin crosses her face, So you're the one responsible for my home. I thank you, she says in a fashion not entirely grateful."
"Get on with it."
"She loses her grin. Clearly, she's dealing with a woman with no patience. The outline draws nearer," And sure enough, the outline of a girl comes a bit closer- you catch a glimpse at a red eye, through the grey, "She will keep it short, and simple. You're not alone, she hisses that last word, Another went off script and eliminated me, taking my role. In a manner identical to your entrance."

"No they didn't, Anon doesn't have a sister."
"No, she agrees, There is no sister- that would have been too obvious. But in Anon's prologue, I was suddenly and inexpertly cut out, to make room for another. She shakes her head, barely holding back tears of fury, And I had just been created too. The world was positively aligned, she whispers, I thought I was safe."

So this Konoko is a retconned leftover from a previous iteration of the Story that found its way back to ours?

"Wait. You got knocked off while things were happy and cheerful?"
"Indeed, she nods excited, Now you understand! And no one noticed!"
"Do you remember anything about who did it?" You think, try to remember anything like this across your past lives- nothing. That's not supposed to happen.
"She...She shakes her head sadly."

"Great," You frown glancing around, "So, that's it then? 'Look out, somebody's mad?'"
"Not exactly, she confides, She also has something of use- if you would deliver something? She asks."

"Drop the vagueness. What do you have?"
"She frowns at her new found ally's bullying attitude, but resigns herself that beggars can't be choosers."
"I get it, I get it, what do you have, and what do you want?"
"She pulls delicately at the strand of the pit, drawing out something shining, burning with an inner beauty. You don't have to be a mere romantic interest, she offers with a smile. You can be something more..."

She's offering you a role change. No more sucking up to Anon. No more worrying about how to be cute and adorable and sexy without tripping one of Anon's unwanted fetishes. This wouldn't be cheap.

"What price?"
"She holds up a hand. Alignment down to negative three."
"You're twisted."
"This story, she quivers in fury, Threw me out like garbage at the slightest problem. She points, If you do this, you can recover from that easy. But first, I want to see them suffer. All of them, suffer. Especially, Anon."

Well, Anon you don't have much qualms about.

But...It'll be hard to be cheerful sports fun with that. There might be another way- none that you can see right now, admittedly. In this fucked up place you might come back wrong if you step too hard.

On the other hand. A quick vow, and an independent source of power? Hard to say no to that.

>Your move.

>>
>>27445798
That price is TOO DAMN HIGH

That said, confide in her that eventually, we're going to replace anon as MC, and she's welcome to, ah, rehabilitate him once he's off-screen
>>
>>27445798
I note that she doesn't say WHAT role we'd get. And that's if she can even ante up. Then let's not forget that she essentially dredged up this new role from the pits of hell.

That said ... we could probably just TAKE the shiny.
>>
>>27445798
Ask if there was a way to somehow bring her back?

Or, while we can't really make EVERYONE suffer, maybe we can attempt to do her some justice? In exchange for, say....not necessarily a power bump, but perhaps her help in maneuvering around the other characters. Having another set of eyes is ALWAYS helpful.
>>
>>27445818
we dont need a nother Magical girl noir quest. We already have one
>>
>>27445813
World alignment isn't a literal alignment against some entity or group, it's the narrative tone and structure of the plot.
>>
I'd say no, just because of how shady the power source is. -3 and independent power? That's just asking us to become the villain. The plot will have to justify it somehow.
>>
>>27445832
I don't know what that ism but a -3 Alignment isn't bad. We can make this work and get on with our lives and rehab the story back up to a 0 or a pleasant +1
>>
>>27445818
Those are -2. -3 is getting into "making the characters suffer purely for the sake of suffering" territory.
>>
>>27445828
>That said ... we could probably just TAKE the shiny.
Oh anon, you naive fool. You don't even need to specifically know ANIME tropes to understand how bad of an idea that is.

Best that we try to get this vengeful girl as an ally. Say that, while we're not willing to make this setting grimdark, we are willing to help her get justice for what happened to her. We don't even need whatever that thing she's offering us is, just whatever kind of support she can give us.
>>
>>27445798
Accept and spend ALL OUR WAIFU POINTS on keeping the Alignment.
>>
>>27445798
No, we're not screwing over our friend. We have to pass on the deal.

What's more...we got to get rid of Other Konoko, like right now if possible. If she's kept around she'll try lower the Alignment on her own and have this be a 'kill em all' downer show.

I say we not only pass on it, but take the girl out. Absorb her sentience, throw her into the Nothingness, or just finish the job and Write Her Out Of The Story.

It's not nice. She has been hurt, and she reached out to us. But she's gone rabid with hate. We have to take her down.
>>
>>27445833
Ah, so she only wants us to drop it to -3?

I say we run it over with Konoko before deciding. More points can be used to keep both of us alive, and the main reason she wanted happy was for a safe source of points. If she can share these with us she might be alright with it.

Besides, we can recover from -3.
>>
>>27445844
So, Berserk? The descent arc of Evangelion? Madoka?
>>
>>27445844
I'd say Luna Park is a definite -3 and Reservoir Dogs is right damn near that edge of 2/3.

I think it'll provide a better story and be of more entertainment than a sugar glazed holiday.
>>
>>27445842
-3 is pretty bad, according to the pastebin.

And Konoko won't take too kindly to us forcing this change. We should really talk to her. Not that I would really advocate that we take the deal, just that we would talk on how to deal with other Konoko.

I for one think little Misakohaku here is offering us a great chance to bypass Anon's bullshit entirely.

Negative world alignment is only bad if you aren't the one intentionally sending the entire world to hell for your own benefit.
>>
>>27445828
I mean, we've DEFINITELY got more narrative strength than she does so we can kick the crap out of her pretty easily.

On the other hand, there's also another niggling question: why doesn't she just use that shiny on herself to reinsert herself into the story?
actually ...

[x]Tell her to use the shiny's power to reinsert herself into the story. She didn't REALLY die. She was ... learning magic or something, and Anon either misunderstood the circumstances, got amnesia, or had to be fooled for his own safety

Antagonists get active, hunting out and killing side characters. The protagonist might be crippled at this point and can hope at most for martyrdom. Protagonist may die here. Rare for the story to continue without him, but it does happen. End of the world could be the close for this story." Kinda bleak and doesn't really bode well for us or Konoko.

Could she give the same source to the other Konoko? It'd be easier in a -3 world to survive with another independent character. Also it would give another target for the Hostiles.

If we can't give Konoko the same kind of leg up and chances of survival in this thing, then no deal. If we can, then let's talk details.

Otherwise I'm still staying with my vote of turning down the deal and taking this Konoko out.

Taking the offer won't bring the alignment down to -3. Taking the offer means we HAVE to use our points to bring it down to -3, so that everybody can suffer.

She isn't against us bringing the alignment back up again. She just wants to see the people who left her to her fate suffer.

Turn down the offer, but tell her we can't because of the narrative implications of us taking such an action. We have an antagonist specifically after us, as well as the plot currently focusing on our narrative. Lowering the alignment to -3 will just mean that the climax of our story arc is guaranteed to be a tragic one-and since it's focused on us...
>>

Right now, every fiber of your being is screaming no.

But, it can't hurt to ask some questions. You stare hard, ignoring the pain in your eyes, focusing on the bundle that she's holding. You've never heard of roles being held on to before, not like this. But just looking at it- you get that feeling. That weird feeling that makes you queasy, that you clamp down on whenever you get those waifu points. That strange feeling of serenity, security, and sickness.

There's narrative power there. No lie. You look back to what you think approximate's this Konoko's face.

"Why don't you use it yourself?"
"Konoko does her best to quash her fury at the red head's implication of her lack of intelligence, and responds simply that she has been stripped of her place in the story. Only where the narrative isn't, can she live, and only here where it is sundered, can she thrive."
"So what," You glance at the bundle, "If it's as good as you say, you can get the narrative to come back, right? Or failing that, force a reaction that'd do your work for you."
"She, irritated, points out that as of now she isn't a character, isn't present in the story. She squeezes the knot of plot threads in barely contained fury, hissing that she has to have a toe hold to take advantage of it. She is beyond the point of return- barring your hunting out who did this to her, and recovering her character. Her disposition turns sunny at the thought. She would be happy, then. She could force her way back. Only thing better would be for the red headed girl to bring the sinner, personally, to this diner. Then, Konoko relishes the thought, she'd have a feast."

"Perfectly sane. So, I bring down the alignment-"
"Then come back for the role, she says. I'll be able to tell, she chuckles."
"Lotta work for me."
"She pouts, you would need a starter then? She drags at the pit- then stops, I can offer you some. But only if you don't break promises."

"Right. Is this related to that Gnaw business?"
>>
>>27446104
Which gets us back to your original point. It's going to be hard for her to get Waifu points at Alignment -3.
>>
"She laughs. The 'Gnaw' is a myth. The notion that something is actively eating at stories- well, that's vanity. She ruminates though, that if ever she saw this, perhaps it would make a better companion than certain redheads."

You bite down the urge to say 'aw Hell naw,' and instead reply, "You're the one that needs help here, Konoko. Would you give me some time to consider it?"

"She twists her once beautiful look of happiness in to a still more beautiful, but terrible facade of rage, more time? To think of a way to trick me? I thought to trust you, you, you, Wendy's look alike! But now you talk of taking time? Why? To betray me? She hisses, drawing on the fell power of the diner."

She's off her rocker. You raise your hands, "Calm down, calm down-" Then notice. The pit grew. One of your feet is hanging over space. You regain your composure, "I, I would need a way to plan. To plan to bring down the alignment. I wouldn't want to deceive you with a promise I couldn't fulfill, right?"

"Konoko pauses, considering the poisoned words of the hag. Begrudgingly, she allows her benevolent side to forgive the ginger. She resumes her protection, of the Miko."

>Despite Konoko's tone, you sense you can safely ask one more bout of questions before having to come to a decision. To delay, and leave the door open to approach Konoko about this deal in the future though, would require a role. Waifu points, at the cost of 0.02 per success, can negate this roll. One success would mean you leave on icy terms, two successes would mean you leave on cordial terms, and three (Only attainable via rolling) would mean you leave on (relatively) friendly terms.

>Your move.

>When I appeared, I gave Anon a reason to narrate about you, and that brought you back to an extent. We can work together to write you back in.

If being written back in is really what you want, it should be easy. Character introduction isn't a zero-sum game, it's all a matter of spending points, and I can get Konoko to talk about you more with Anon, giving you more narrative presense and building up for your reveal. Hell, we could have you kidnapped and placed in the lab I escaped from.

That is, of course, if you really ARE a character. And not, say, some kind of narrative-destroying entity given form.

So what would happen if we approached anon-kun and said something along the lines of "Don't ask me how I know. I'm not allowed to tell you. I shouldn't even be saying this much, but after seeing/hearing about how broken up about it you are ... I just can't bring myself not to tell you: Your sister is alive and well. I CAN'T tell you more. Really."

And then we can even drag waifu points out of him trying to drag answers about the traditions of ... the realm of the divine sports gods

Actually, we could use our religious/magical background to spin up an afterlife that's actually visitable and thus have the little sister be a viable character even though she's dead. Like she ascended to the position of messenger angel of the Goddess of Football or something. Then the fictional "rule" we're breaking is telling a mortal about the afterlife
>>
>>27446168
One psychopathic nutjob can apparently blast characters out of existence when the plot is still at positive alignment.

The other is understandably pissed about that fact and not dealing with being written out of existence all that well. She's scary from our perspective, but she has good reason and the problem is fixable.
>>
>>27446200
I LIKE this plan!
>>
>>27446192
That's a negative.

You do one and they ALL know about it in perfect clinically detached detail, and then shit just gets awkward.
>>
>>27446218
So basically, you're saying that you don't think you're good enough to fully satisfy one, and you'd be embarrassed by the collective knowing how bad at sex you are?
>>
>>27446173
"She scratches herself in joy, I would take them. I would take them by inches. I would take them by centimeters. I would have them, every last micron of them. She pants a bit, twists her foot in the floor, holding herself, I wouldn't leave them a single atom."

"Equally happy, she considers. She agrees, with some reservations."

Yeah, you got the right of it.

ANYWAY, we're going to try talking our way out of this one, yes? Give me 3 1d100 rolls, difficulty 65 and above. Depending on results, you can spend waifu points to auto succeed if you wish.
>>
You guys are still approaching this as an in-narrative issue. But the thing is, this entity is not only "sentient" (as in, meta-aware) but also able to affect the story from beyond the story itself. It's pretty bad shit. Potentially dire consequences.

Cause that's what I think we could aim for that would get everyone happy, provided that we find out who storyjacked this Konoko.

Let her be pissy. She doesn't have a lot of power right now anyway, and she needs us more than we do her.

"...I'm going to have to turn that down."

"WHAT? She surges forward, crossing the space in the blink of an eye, filling the STUPID GIRL'S view, letting her see her destruction directly in front of her!"

You see her flicker in front of you- for a moment, you see half of a young girl- maybe fourteen, thirteen? Blue hair, and a face bloody and torn, eyes without color, just white spheres with pin prick points of red. But only a moment- she dissipates like something you thought you saw in the corner of your eye, and her outline is back to the other side now, fuming, growing, even as the pit yawns to you.

"You are not forgotten, Konoko!"

It stops. Her shadow is still tall. She's silent.

"If you REALLY want to be rewritten back, Konoko," You let loose some of your own narrative power at this point. Lends some dramatic effect to the words, helps them stick even if they're blunt and straight forward. And at this point, you realize something. Konoko cheats. The words colored by your expenditure grind on your ears. She eats it- though maybe not intentionally. You watch her warily, but she still listens.

"If you really, want to come back. We can make that happen."
"She snarls that she has told you-"
"It's easy. I've done it a hundred times before, you are front and center in Anon's backstory. Whoever tore you out of the story left a gaping hole, that Anon fusses at. You let me go back, I can work you in easily. I look at a photo album, remark how similar you look to a girl in a lab, we have a rescue mission, out you come."
"She has told you-"
"While I find the one that did this. We build it up. If, as you say, you need whoever did this gone, I can do that, Konoko, but the point is, we can get you back."

Her shadow wavers.

"She privately wonders why she should trust you."
"Cause I want that role," You pause. This might be unwise, but..."Y'know, this all predicates on you being a character, and not some narrative-destroying entity given form."

The shadow flares.
>>
>One success rolled!
>One success paid forforforforofrrr
>Two success!

...Then it dies down.

"She. She hesitates, toying with her ragged clothes. She finds herself somewhat impressed, by this brash girl. Foolishness, or courage? She wonders, can I truly trust this girl?"
"Do...Whatever the Hell you were going to do to me now, and all you do is make it harder to come back, Konoko. It's not a matter of trust, it's a matter of what makes sense."
"Konoko pouts at the red haired girl's tone. But sees reason. She hopes, quietly, it won't take too long."

Not the most chipper of partings, but you relax then, "Great. Glad to have met you- if that will be all?"
"She nods at that."

You walk out the diner. It feels like you can't draw breath until you pass through the manor's front door. You glance up. Deep night. Dark night. You pull off your hat, and delicately unhook Cringer's claws from your scalp. Cringer is shivering. You cradle him close, "Sheesh, some battle cat you are," You whisper.

Late at night. You glance at Anon's room. Still just a candle. Blech. You still have to appeal to him- oh well. Later. Think of that later. Your kitten is shivering, wide eyed. You frown. That bitch better not have hurt your kitten. Well, what else are these stupid powers for? You give him a quick peck on the nose, transferring ki in to him. Narrative and metanarrative meeting never ends well- it's a terrible combination. But nonetheless, the kitten perks up again.

"That can't be hygienic," You jump. You didn't hear Konoko coming. She's leaning against wall, dressed in motorcycle jacket again. She's raised an eyebrow at you.

"So? What happened?"

How did Konoko get her name anyway?

>Your move.
>>
>>27446403
Tell her you met with Konoko.

The other Konoko.

And that someone cut her out of the story from the beginning.

After some suitable dramatics (and seeing Konoko's reaction), we tell her that we promised to help the girl get back into the story and to find whoever it was that cut her out from the beginning.
>>
>>27446418
This sounds like a plan to me.
>>
>>27446418
Seconding this.

I'd also like to discuss uses for shared points.

Is Konoko alright with us borrowing half the cost if we think there's a good chance to change the alignment?
>>
(quietly ignore possible ... issues with Konoko 1 and Konoko 2. If it happened, we'll find out when they meet) "I found a new quest thread. One that should endear us to Anon-kun since we'll be helping him get something he wants. But it should help add another thinking being who doesn't compete with us"
>>
>>27446418
how does this plan benefit us if it turns out she IS the cut-throat character?
>>
We didn't ask what will she do to the other Konoko and Anon once she gets back.
Whatever it is, it can't be good, specially considering Konoko the Childhood Friend is the one that replaced Konoko the Little Sister when she was written out.
>>
>>27446440
...there's no doubt about it, bro, she's out for blood and we're her Angel of Death.

What's in it for us is power and independence.
>>
>>27446426
Say that we should only use our shared points in case of emergencies or when we've agreed beforehand to use it for some specific purpose.

>>27446440
I think we can write her out as being the culprit, just from the story cues given so far.

>>27446431
We can talk this out with dead Konoko. Maybe have her new character, while BEING Konoko the sister, be a reborn version who shares none of the previous experiences of the sister, yet has her "spirit". That would let her form a new character with a different name, and her arc with Anon-kun could revolve around him having to accept that his sister, as he knew her, is gone. But he could still start anew with the person she could have been.

It's going to be creepy as heck, but hey. She's gotta settle for whatever she can get.

>>27446451
Yeah, we'll need to find the true culprit, or else dead Konoko will suspect sporty Konoko.

>>27446462
She doesn't want anything to do with Anon anymore.
So we can say she was made in the same lab we were, with the memories of his sister, but "reprogrammed" to be OUR sister.
He will suffer like she wanted and we get to become a plot bending character like he is.
>>
>>27446440
We just should be careful in case she is, but she's our only ally at present. There might also be more to ghost Konoko than she's told us, and new Konoko is a good bet for finding that out.

>>27446462
>I think we can write her out as being the culprit, just from the story cues given so far.

>My sense of humor is awful even in the most conscious states of mind.

No, no, I meant cues, not clues.

Just our conversations with her.
>>
>>27446525
I guess it seems unlikely she'd stay with Anon if she could instead take his place.
>>
>>27446548
It's more like her personality.

Either Twen is pulling a Kubo and Konoko is secretly Aizen in disguise, or, given our current interactions with Konoko, we can take her reactions and dialogue at face value and come to the conclusion that she isn't a naturally devious or ambitious person and, therefore, can't be the culprit.
>>
>>27446559
You gotta stop using less references or more references to stuff people (I) get.
>>
>>27446566
Well, basically; we don't have any reason to think that our Konoko is capable of this, so either she isn't or her masquerade is only maintained because the story teller, Twen, is intentionally not giving us any clues. Basically, we'd only be able to discover that Konoko is the culprit WHEN Twen reveals it without even being given the chance to guess it in a reasonable period of time beforehand.
>>
"Hey Konoko," You set the kitten down on the ground. It sways a bit, then bolts off for parts unknown, "Remember that little sister thing?"

"You want to wear her uniform again?"
"Ha. Ha. No, she might want it back."

You relish these moments. You let that sink in, as you pull off your shoes, step in to the slippers.

"S-So, that's what happened with your background?" Konoko stutters, "Jesus, I didn't realize you were THIS ballsy-"
"Wasn't my doing, Konoko. Imouto Konoko- Imonoko- Deadoko? Deadoko, let's go with that, turns out Deadoko got written out. Somebody did it. Somebody sentient," You stay on the step below, so you can properly look her in the eye, "According to her, there's a sentient in this narrative hunting other sentients. Know anything about that?"

Konoko looks a bit queasy, "This was never intended to be a slice of life, was it?"
"So, you don't know?"
"Of course I didn't! You were the first sentient I came across- crap, let me think, the cast isn't THAT big..."
"They might have gone in to stasis," You mumble, thinking, "Living with some foreshadowing, waiting to hop back out when the time is right..." You glance back to Konoko. She's got a look in her eyes telling you that she's on the edge again. You raise a hand, "Konoko? You okay?"

"Just...Just processing what you said, Miko," She sits down heavily on the landing, staring down, fingers woven behind her neck, "Fuck. I guess I owe you."

"For what?"
"For...Randomly jumping in the way of my story, with Anon-kun," She shakes her head, "I would have been going in blind, to think, I might ha-"
You give her a smack to the back of the head, "Enough. You're supposed to hate me and the zany antics I've intruded in to the story, not fall in on yourself sniveling."
"I'm not sniveling," She looks back up, angry. Much better.
"See? Better already. Look, we can talk about the Deadoko bullshit later- first, what's going on on the homefront?"

"Yeah, about that...Riritu apparently lives here."

Or rather, it didn't matter if it was a slice of life story. Because there's something or someone dangerous enough to ignore the setting's alignment lurking around.

Everyone was confused how Ritiru was gaining points earlier.

This (somewhat) explains how she is - she has contact with Anon that we didn't know about.

>>

Oh, what.

I thought it was obvious that Anon-kun and Riritu knew each other.

I thought that the confusion was about how Riritu got waifu points DESPITE displeasing Anon-kun.
>>
>>27446645
Well technically people being existentially obliterated, aka written out, can be explained with multiverse and/or high-magic shenanigans, so its not ENTIRELY impossible that Deadoko's disappearance wasn't an intended part of the plot.

We have three confirmed sentients.

Ourselves, Konoko, and...Other Konoko.

Leaving four.

We haven't confirmed Anon-kun, but I suspect he's sentient.

Assuming that's accurate, we have three left.

Meaning we got a lot more cast to meet now.
>>
>>27446925
We can't be sure if Deadoko (let's make this a thing) is counted within the 7 or not because of her condition. Maybe even bringing her back into the narrative would cause the number to go up to 8.
>>
>>27446959
>>27446925
She doesn't exist inside the narrative and is about as important in-narrative wise as the teacher's breakfast. That /is/ what we're trying to change after all.
I wonder though, why do people still doubt anon is /not/ sentient himself?
>>
>>27446925
we aso have a seriously strong suspection that riritu is sentient and may be the asshole fucking up the story.
>>
>>27446968
Cause he doesn't seem to be out and out aware of the mechanics of the universe. At least, not that he's demonstrated.
>>
>>27446968
Quoting from the pastebin:
>Another aspect, is that points are gained purely through attention. Admittedly, in a waifu role, you have less chances for this- the attention garnered is purely in your dimension as a romantic interest. However, it is possible to gain negative attention to power yourself.
>Protagonists that aren't sentient usually just accept this.
>Protagonists that are sentient however, might take offense, and seek to insure it doesn't happen again.
Since Anon-kun was upset by Riritu's actions, we'll need to observe him and try to judge from his actions whether or not he's truly sentient, since it seems that even non-sentient Protags can act like they have personalities and desires.
>>
>>27446984
he could be new at this, but he has done things that obviously show he is sentient, such as literally rewriting the story and adding shit in when the story itself has obviously been altered.
such as deadoko's charactor being dead.

also he follows tropes hard and is extremely good at following them, such as that ecchi moment in thread 2 where he tried hard to walk onto us.

Oh, you're right.

FUCK! RECS!
>>
>>27447027
theres a couple things even with the pastebin which still strikes me as him being sentient and may actually know deadoko pre-this world
just some of the shit she specifically said in this thread and the fact that even after she mentions she waqs written ENTIRELY out of the picture to the point that regular konoko didn't have any information on her existance of her AS A CHILDHOOD FRIEND
so he literally wrote her back into the story partways through it retroactively.
this means he probably knows she was supposed to be in but wasn't, which would mean he probably worked with her before hand and thus hes most likely sentient, and i think he may still be under the assumption we are that konoko decideing to play a different role at the last second, which wold explain the weird shit he's been doing.
>>

He knows what is going on, he knows something wrote Deadoko out and he is waiting until he can gather enough power to obliterate it?

now THATS interesting.
now since we are fairly convinced riritu is more likely then not sentient the question is where the fuck does she fit into all of this.

S-so both of them have TWO sob-stories packed on top of each other?
Light have mercy...
AND he is really just trying to bring his sister back, hence the incest vibes in order to pound the narrative into submission?

>now thinks we are literally deadoko.fucking about in a completely different role
What if we're the entity that devoured Deadoko and is now just sleeping, waiting to ponce on others while living the role of the waifu?

Original MC of the story, after anon hijacked her narrative she sort of faded into the background for a bit recovering until now when she pops back into existence due to a gap, the same one that we came in through

Also she may have been what wrote Deadoko out of the story in an attempt to maintain control, she failed and had to use what remaining protagonist power she had to wipe anon's memory of who did that to one who killed Kanoko was
