"Your partner mentioned a missing person case, but not much more. I was kinda curious about that, and a bit worried too." You say, shrugging.

"Ah, that. Yeah, the announcer woman involved in that whole Namatame scandal went missing a couple of days ago." The man pauses, probably figuring out his own wording to keep from saying things he shouldn't. "Normally, we'd write that off as her trying to get out of the public eye for some time, but since she had requested some police presence to discourage the worst of the media... Well, we suspect foul play."

"Wouldn't there have been an officer there with her, then?" You ask.

"There WOULD have, if there hadn't been the car wreck nearby. Since there hadn't been much going on there, the officer assigned wound up being called in to help with that mess, leaving her alone. I guess that's when whatever it was happened..." He trails off, looking into his drink somberly. "Well, no point dwelling on it. It'd be best if you get to bed. You had a long trip here, and have school in the morning."

You nod, getting up.

"Well then, good night." You say, heading upstairs quietly, preparing to unpack what you can...

Flipping through the channels, you pass several that seem uninteresting- a news report, some special on Japanese mythology, and some new harem anime among them. Eventually, you come to something that catches your eye...


A rerun of an old Pheonix Ranger Featherman episode, of who knows which season.

The episode is nearing the end, where the heroes have summoned their robot to do battle with the enlarged monster of the week.

As expected, the battle is going poorly until the robot draws its sword, slashing through the monster with one hit and looking away as its fallen foe explodes.

The show drifts back to the moral of the episode, and the ending theme plays shortly after.

As the clock ticks to midnight, though...

The TV shuts off, and static fills the screen, before it slowly resolves to a blurry view.

A woman, running for her life as a number of shadowy monsters with white masks chase her. The area around her seems similar to the shopping district that you were in earlier, though twisted horribly...

The chase continues, until the woman trips, and the monsters begin to descend...

Suddenly, the screen goes blank, leaving the room quiet.

He seems to concentrate for a moment, before a pillar of TV sets falls from the ceiling, somehow, and slams into the floor.
