The year is 2043, and the world is privatized. Companies own armies, countries, and have privileges far beyond any government. Unbound by constitutions and human rights, they wield immense power, able to do as they please. They play shadow games with each other, hiring operatives to steal and sabotage. These operatives are wide and varied. To kill a man, some would stab him in the night, while others would poison him as he ate. Others would shoot him in his sleep, or erase him so he never existed at all.

You're a little different.

Gunning your motorcycle across the roof of a skyscraper, you launch yourself into the air, and crash it into the windows of the tower adjacent. Revving the handle, you gun it across the office floor, and barrel it right into the door that says “General Manager.” Your speed carries you right through, and you nimbly roll off of it, letting the motorcycle's momentum take care of the rest.

The last thing that manager sees before he dies is a motorcycle being launched right at him, knocking him out the window and to the streets far below.

As you look out, admiring your handiwork, your commlink rings with a call. It's the man who hired you. Answering it, a voice yells at you.

“What the hell was that?”

>Snarky. ”That's how I roll.”
>Honest. “You didn't tell me how to kill him.”
>Play dumb. “Traffic accident.”
>Other.

Your client groans.

“I pay you a fortune to kill my opposition, and that's the best you come up with? How long did you take to plan this out?”

“Plan? I don't know what you're talking about. I was driving along, when I suddenly hit a wet patch in the road, and skidded off the highway, onto a roof, into another building, and accidentally hit this dude.” You look out the window to the ground below, where you can see the wreckage.

“It's a real shame too. I had just gotten a new engine for the bike, and was already to take it on a cross-country trip. You'll compensate me for my loss, right?”

“Compensate? Your face is going to be on national news within the hour! I blind cop could follow the trail to you and me! I could be arrested and sent to jail just for talking to you!”

“Details, details. You already wired over the cash, so I think we're done here.” You wave at the office employees staring at you, and turn back to the commlink.

“Seriously though, that bike wasn't cheap....”

His only response is to hang up.

You look at the cameras, and shrug. Time to get out of this place, and spend your paycheck.

What was the plan?

>draw your gun, take a hostage, and escape into the underbelly of the city.
>Switch clothes in a blind spot, and escape with the rest of the office employees.
>Use a parachute and jump out of the now-open window into the streets, and get into a nearby getaway van.

You pull up commlines to your teammates.

“Face, you got that van ready?”

“Yessir. Corner of 122 and Wheaton.”

“Good. Twitch, get ready. I want all traces of my face wiped from the databanks.”

“Already on it. Of course, video feeds on someone on the motorcycle will still be there, but all identifying characteristics.”

You grin. “Sweet. Maybe I will make national news.”

Ending the call, you flex your shoulders, and run towards the open window and jump.

As you exit the air-conditioned office, you pull the parachute handle, and it flies out of your backpack, catching the wind. Settling it into a smooth glide, you leave the tower far behind you, gently landing in some back alley. Throwing the chute into a garbage bin, you change into street clothes, and walk out, slipping into the confines of the city.

Heading to the location of the getaway van, you step in.

“How's it going in here?”

Face turns to you and points out a giant video screen on the side of a tower. “You've made national news. People are wondering who this guy is.”

Looking up, you can see a patchy video of you riding off the skyscraper, knocking the guy out, and parachuting into the city.

Twitch frowns. “I don't like this. Everybody's going to be looking for us. We should take that money we got, and lay low.”

“Nah, we can't do that.” Face says. “One of our regular clients has a job for us. Paying well, too. What do you think, boss?”

Face looks at you, and you:

“I'm ready for another job.”

Face nods, but Twitch shakes her head.

“Fine. But I'm operating remotely.”

You wave her off.

“Face, stop by a pizza place first. I'm hungry.”

Face nods, and you all drive around the city, stopping for some food. Finally one of you contacts your client, and get an address. Driving to it, you arrive at a small bar, nearly empty. Stepping in, you see your client. He's a average, unassuming man, with nothing of note. Shaking his hand, you start talking.

“Heard you have a job for us. I'd like to hear details before I decide on taking it.”

The man nods.

“Certainly. Amptech is unveiling a new product tomorrow at the Future Technology Convention. I don't know what it is. It's been locked down tight. But I need you to steal it, and return it to me.”

“Where is this convention?”

“Beijing. You'll be a long way from home, and you'll need to get the Tianjin, on the coast of China, where I can smuggle you out.”

“And how is this job going to go?”

The man clasps his hands, and muses for a bit. “It will be difficult, I won't lie. But that's why I came to you.”

You think about what he said, and he speaks again.

-The Next Day-

As the plane pulls into Beijing, you find yourself in awe of the Celestial City. Modern architecture blends perfectly with ancient buildings, creating a city unlike any other. China maybe long gone, but the culture still stays strong.

As the plane touches down and you exit, one of the attendants hands you two keys.

“Please go to parking stall 672H, sir. Your vehicles are waiting for you.”

Following her directions to the parking garage, you turn to the stall, and see something beautiful.

“Fuck yes.”

a sleek motorcycle sits in front of you, chrome freshly shined, paint unmarred, and surrounded by that new leather smell. Hopping into the seat, you look over at Face and Twitch.

“Well?”

Face gives you the thumbs up, but Twitch frowns.

“What about us?”

You look in the stall, and see a modern convertible tucked in the back.

“You two ride that. But this cycle's mine.”

With that, you rev the engine and dive into the city. The motorcycle glides across the roads, smoothly responding to your every move. You starting to enjoy the ride, when you remember that you have a job to do.

Pulling up to the convention center, you notice the place is packed. Moving through the crowds is exceptionally difficult, and you feel tightly squeezed on all sides. Wading through, you manage to push yourself to a bench.

You open up a call to your teammates.

“Alright, what's the plan? The car is filled with all sorts of guns and gadgets. I guess h knows how we operate.” Face says.

You think about it, and decide on:
>Scout out doors and entryways, and try and steal the object before Amptech presents it.
>Steal the object in right in the middle of the presentation. Go in guns blazing, and get out.
>take the object after the presentation ends. Follow whoever's carrying it around, and take it when they least expect it.

“Alright, here's what we'll do....”

You lay out the plan to your compatriots, and the planning begins.

Working your way through the crowd, it's easy to spot the backdoors to the presentation area. People are milling about, and the guards don't look too professional.

“Twitch, on you.”

“I hate you for this.” She grumbles, but as you watch her move across the floor, you notice plenty of eyes turning in her direction as she moves in a low-cut dresses. If you hadn't heard her earlier, you could swear she's enjoying herself. Whistles abound in the air as she walks by, and you wait for the distraction.

She suddenly missteps, and starts to tumble. Immediately, the crowd rushes her way in attempt to catch her, and you pocket one of the guard's IDs as they walk past. Swiping it on the lock, you step into the back area. Assistants and stagehands move about, none too concerned about your presence.

“Face, I'm in. Do you have the explosives planted?”

“Yes, I do. Ready at your signal.”

You nod, and cut communications. You need to find Amptech's prep area. Walking around, you notice their logo on one of the doors.

“that was easy.” You say to no one in particular.

Peering in, you see your target. A small cylinder with a screen on it and input ports on it, about as big as a football. A few guards stand around it, guns holstered, and you see some presenter fretting over his speech.

Hand on your gun, you're about to barge in, when-

“Ethan?”

Oh shit.

You turn around to see your ex. The last few times you met, it didn't go so well. It didn't help that you always stole her vehicles for jobs of yours. And now, she's here?

You need to do something. You:

>hit her with a taser, and dump her in a storage closet.
>talk to her, and when those guards leave with the device, grab it and run.
>tell her she must have the wrong person.

>Chinese Impression

Immediately, you squint your eyes and do your best chinese-speaking-english impression you can.

“Me no...speak..English. Me...Bruce-”

“Ethan, I know it's you. It's not hard to-”

“Me no Ethan. Me...Bru-”

She groans. “Will you stop it? Look. We need to talk-”

As she drones on and on about relationship issues, you hear the speakers.

“Amptech speaker is on in 5 minutes. Please report backstage.”

You look back at her, but she seems oblivious. “-and if we just sit down, I'm sure we can-”

“Hey, come here.”

As the guards walk out carrying the device, you pull her close.

“I just wanted to tell you...” they're a few steps away now. That device is so close you could just-grab it!

Tearing away from you, you shoot the man holding it, and yell at the top of your lungs “RUN FOR IT!”

Hoping your statement makes the guard confused, you dash into the hallways.

“Ethan!”

What? You turn around to see her following you. Flashing her a quick smile, you say, “Sorry, I was on the job. Want to tag along? There has to be some good restaurant around here.”

As her face turns red, you turn around, and shoot the man following you. He drops unceremoniously, and you slam into a set of doors, into the crowded concourse.

Stepping into the crowd, they surge along, and you hide in that anonymity. You're safe, for now.

Then someone taps you.

It's your ex.

You decide to:

You turn to her with a grin.

“So...come here often?”

She rolls her eyes. “you've done this before, Ethan. It won't work now. What are you doing with that, anyway?”

She points to the cylinder, and you shrug. Continuing to walk in the crowd, you tell her the little stuff. You're on a job, need this and you just have to deliver it to someone.

“Maybe we can watch some chinese opera or something afterwards.” You say.

She pauses, and for a moment, you see the hints of a smile.

Then she frowns.

“so, you just need the cylinder, right? What about the data on it?”

“What-”

Before you can say anything further, the crowd screams, and you hear a gunshot. Ducking for cover, you dive for a booth, bringing your ex along with you.

“What's happening?” You open up a comm channel to twitch and start talking.

“I don't know! Security is pulling up in droves, and it's not just Amptech. We have operatives coming in. Whatever that cylinder is, everyone wants it!”

“Shit. Face! Can you-”

“Ethan. Your ex speaks to you, and she seems unusually calm.

“Give me the data, and I can help you.”

You:

Right on time, a barrage of explosion ring through the air, and the area is filled with thermal smoke. Grabbing her hand, you pull her through the crowd firing potshots behind you. Dashing to the parking garage, you jump onto the motorcycle.

“Ready?” before she can reply, you rev the handle, and speed towards the highway. As you board the onramp, you turn back to her.

“So, mind telling me how you became come sort of corporate operative?”

“Because of you.”

“You got tired of your boring life, and needed some fun?”

“No, because some fat, corporate bigwig started hitting on me the way you do, and I was so angry I socked him right in the jaw.” You turn to look at her incredulously, but her face is buried in your back.

“It was so embarrassing, and by the time I went to apologize, I was fired. So I-”

“Hey, sorry to interrupt the bonding moment, but we've got company.”

She turns and glares at you, then looks back.

She looks at you in surprise, then nods. “I'm a decent shot. It was required for some of my jobs.”

“Well then, you better become a good one.” As you pass her you handgun. You squeeze the brakes, sliding on the road. Twisting the handles, you narrowly avoid one of the vehicles rushing at you, and your ex shoots out the wheel. As the car swerves off the overpass, you let let loose a grin, and give pursuit to the four remaining cars.

One of them opens up the back window, and you swerve wildly, barely avoiding gunfire. Twisting the handle, you catch up between the cars, and hold your position. As guns come out, you suddenly brake again, and the two cars cut each other down.

Two left.

Pulling ahead, you find yourself at the lead, and suddenly, you switch gears, throwing the bike into reverse. As she takes the car out, you switch back into first, and charge at the last car.

It's a game of chicken, but there's only going to be one winner.

You.

Leaning back, the front wheel lifts slightly, and you ramp up and over the car, leaving it to crash in the wreckage ahead.

None left.

As you drive away from the wreckage, you turn back to her.

“Nice shooting.”

She shrugs, and you pull off into the city to hide once more. Meeting up with Face and Twitch, you bring along your ex.

“I see you brought along a familiar face.” Face says, looking over her.

She gives Twitch and Face a small wave, and both nod.

You decide to spill the beans.

“She wants the data on the cylinder.” as both of them look at you, questioningly, you shrug.

“I did promise.”

“But what about our client?” Twitch asks.

You look at her disapprovingly. “If he didn't want us giving away the data, he would have told us. He know how we work.”

“Still-”

“alright, I'll contact him!” you throw your hands up, and send your client a message. His answer his two words.

“Go ahead, he says. See, I told you he wouldn't mind.” You hand her the cylinder, and look at Face and Twitch.

“Now, we need to get to the coast. How do we do it?”

“Twitch is right, Face. We need to lay low.”

As Twitch throws up her hands in celebration, you turn to your ex.

“Got that data pulled?”

She nods. “Yes. It was weird. No encryption or anything.”

She taps a virtual screen, looks at the results, and smiles. “Phew. Job done.”

“In that case, you want to come with me, and grab dinner for everyone? They're a little busy at the moment.”

You point at Face and Twitch, who are looking at screens and talking with each other. They're deeply engrossed in their work, and won't be going outside anytime soon.

“Sure.” She slips her arm into yours, and together, you walk into the city.

Beijing at night is a wonderful experience. The sights, the smells, create a city more lively than New York. As the two of you walk around, you ask her to elaborate on how she got into this type of business. Picking up where she left off, she talks about how some people from the company approached her and asked for her to drive.

“I was surprised at first, and a nervous wreck that entire mission. But then, I just thought what you would do, and-”

“And you dropkicked someone out a window?”

>>
>>27223603
“No.” She punches you playfuly. “I calmed down, and it was the best I've ever piloted something. From that point on, I knew what I wanted to do.”

“So how did you get into this mission?”

“I was working with another person. She needed someone to sneak in with her, and would steal the data while setting the machine up. I was there to try and distract the guards. Of course, you just had to come along...”

You smile, and she does to. Then, a voice interrupts you.

“We have just received a visual ID on the two people responsible for the bombing of the FT Convention, just this afternoon. They are as follows-”

Following the voice, you look at a giant vidscreen.

And there's the two of you, riding the motorcycle.

“The culprits are Adam Rand and Samantha Hawkes-”

Fuck.

You open up a comm channel.

“Twitch, I need our faces erased. Now.”

“Are you kidding me? We'd need to sneak into the media servers ad get rid of every single file, as well as the files saved by every person who cared to!” She says incredulously, and you groan.

You look over at Samatha and she's mouthing one word at you.

“Adam?”

“We'll talk about this later.” You say, but before you can duck away, you notice two cops headed right for you.

You:
>Run for it.
>leave her behind.
>Start shooting.

You grab her hand, and take off into the night. While the cops have reservation about bowling over citizens, you don't. Pushing and shoving, you dodge a taser shot at you, and run across the road, grasping her hand tightly. As cars screech and halt, upsetting the cops, the two of you manage to duck into a mall, breaking the line of sight.

You look around, and motion towards the stairs.

“What about you?” She asks.

“I'll head another way, and lose them somehow.”

She nods and takes off towards the stairs, and you plunge through the crowds. The cops follow after you, and you take the chase to the upper levels of the mall, Leaping onto an elevator as it ascends to the highest levels. Diving through the crowd, you nimbly sidestep the people, gaining time. A door is ahead of you. With the time distance you've gained, if you could just slip through-you reach for it-only for another cop to charge in, forcing you to turn. With the numbers on their side, the cops slowly fence you in, leaving nothing but a nearby balcony.

No time to think about it.
>>
>>27224052

Charging right forward, you hop over a cop who tries to slide for your legs, press your legs against the railing and jump.

Soaring through the air, you tuck and roll as you hit the floor across and below. Without a moment to lose, you weave into another crowd, and slow your pace. Acting casual and moving with he crowd, you watch as the cops pass by.

You message Samantha, and she gives you a message back.

You meet in a clothing store having some big sale to another, and flash her a grin.

“Told you I could do it.”

She doesn't do likewise. “You also told me your name was Ethan.”

You just look at her and shake your head, when a call comes in. It's Face.

“Where are you? We saw your faces on the news, and there's been evidence of a chase at the mall. What do you need us to do?”

You consider your options and say:

>”Go on without us. With security focused here, We'll distract them while you complete the job.”
>”Get us. We're busting out of this town, now.”

”Go on without us. With security focused here, We'll distract them while you complete the job.”

there's some silence on the other end, and sounds like Twitch and Face are arguing. Finally, you hear a short buzz, and Twitch speaks.

“Alright. We'll get going. I had to taze Face, though. He wanted to stay and help. I hope you understand.”

“I do. Now, get going. I send you a pineapple once I'm in the clear.”

“Roger. I'll leave the safehouse here with everything we can spare. Good luck.”

As Twitch terminates communications, you look over at Samantha. She looks nervous, and you sit down next to her.

There's really only one thing you have to say.

“So, you come here often?”

She rolls her eyes, and looks at you.

“I should have known. You look to shifty to be an Ethan.”

“Shifty? That's not what you said on all those dates we went on!”

“That's all you remember? Is it all about you?”

“All about me? I just said to my teammates, go on, I'll hold them off. That's like a death sentence for me!”

The arguments come from nowhere, but it's okay. Neither of you really care, you both just want to yell. No hard feelings, no grudges, just being able to communicate is enough. Finally, you grin.

“Feel better?”

“Yep.” She says

“You could always go with Twitch and Face. I won't mind.”

“Let's talk about that after we escape, shall we?”

She points with your finger, and you notice guards at every entrances, checking faces.

“How are we going to get out of this one?”

“Like this.”

Drawing your pistol, you wing one of the guards, and the crowd screams

Running with the crowd you slip away from their prying eyes, and manage to go out the backdoor of one of the shops. Stepping onto the street, it's a harsh contrast from just a few minutes ago. Corpsec vehicles abound, and you can see drones scanning the faces of passerby. Fortunately, as the crowd staggers out of the mall, screaming you watch as the vehicles and drones rush inside, attempting to find you.

Grabing Samantha's hand, the two of you turn and enter the alleyways of the city, staying out of the public eye. Making your way back to the safehouse, you find it undisturbed. Weapons lie neatly on the table, with magazines set next to them. Everything in nice and stacked, and there's more then enough bullets and grenades here for a solid resistance. Wordlessly, the two of you start packing weapon cases and boxes.

As you check a rifle slide, Samantha talks to you.

“So, where are we going?”

You consider your options:

>Kowloon Walled Nest: Akin to a hive, this part of the city is the dirtiest and dangerous. Criminals of all sorts go here, and the cramped quarters make it tough to attack, but easy to defend.

>River Ports: Located near all the shipping facilities, this area is filled with cover, and the river may make for a good getaway spot.

>Amptech Tower: Located in the heart of Beijing, it'll be the toughest spot to tackle. But if you can claw you way to the top, the valuable hostages you find may be essential.

“We're going to Kowloon.”

Pointing it out on the map, you grab a case of weapons, get into the car and drive into the night.

Walking into the city, no one bats an eye at your weapon cases. Some people eye the two of you, but the handguns at your hips dissuade anyone from trying anything. Entering the nest proper, you cannot help but feel a sense of dread.

Into the viper's nest you go.
“Are you sure they'll follow us?” Samantha says, looking back at the streets.

“Pretty sure. I sent a few messages to goad them here.” You look around, and crane your neck, trying to hear any signs, of a chase, but nothing. The two of you sit, and talk idly about the weapons, when you notice something.

Silence.

At first, there's nothing.

Then you hear the sounds of choppers, cars and plenty of people yelling. You look over at Samantha, and nod. Grabbing rifles from the boxes, you sling the rest on your shoulder, and dive into the darkness of the city. Doors slam shut as you pass by, and together the two of you rush down the tunnels, with the sounds of footsteps getting closer and closer.

Then, the guards arrive.

You open fire, targeting quickly and efficiently, covering Samantha's less steady aim. Throwing grenades, you clear corners, and the game continues as the two of you move about the nest, trying to avoid getting circled.

Are the the two of you move around, weaving in and out of cover, knocking through weakened walls, something feels wrong.

It's all too easy.
>>
>>27225615
Security shouldn't be going down this fast...unless...

As you turn the next hallway, it becomes apparent.

You find yourself in an open space, with nothing but a few large pillars for cover.

And a score of guards against you.

Diving for cover, the two of you narrowly avoid getting hit.

Leaning in and out of cover, you fire quick shots, taking down a few.

Samantha does the same...then the unthinkable happens.

She gets shot.

A spray of ruby erupts from her arm, and you grit your teeth. Swinging out of cover, you fire in an arc, duck, and toss a grenade. As it goes off, your rifle clicks, dry, and you throw it away, grabbing your pistols.

Standing up, you spin your arms, taking potshots at those around you. You almost don't notice the cops approaching her.

Running at them, you fire your pistols, taking down a few but one remains as the click dry. You drop them, pick up your pace, and launch a dropkick at the last man, and launch him back with enough force to impale him on some exposed rebar.

You look at Samantha, who''s cradling her wound.

“You alright...”

“No..I think the bone's shattered...” She gasps.

You don't have anything on hand that could fix that.

Turning around, you notice a lull in the gunfire.

“We got her, Adam. Surrender, and both of you will be taken in for treatment and will go to court.” A voice speaks over a Megaphone, and you crouch and listen, holding Samantha.

“How can I trust you?” You reply.

“Because I want to see you go away for this for a long time. Shooting you's too good.”

It sounds like he's telling the truth.

But if you get caught...you probably won't escape.

But it's the only way to save her.

“Well, what's your response?” The loudspeaker demands.

Your response?

You step out of cover, carrying Samantha in your arms.

The man grins, and weapons are lowered.

Then you kick a block of C4 at him, flip him the bird, and whirl back into cover.

As the explosion goes off, you brace yourself for the wave of heat that washes over you. It passes, and you stand up.

There's a few left standing, but they're disoriented.
And the way is clear.

Across the path you can see a Security VTOL on the ground, rear ramp open. Immediately, you dash for it with reckless abandon, uncaring of the bullets flying by. As you get closer, you drop Samantha in and slide, turning around and firing with your handgun at those giving chase. As they drop, you hop into the pilot's seat, and take off into the air.

You don't care where you go. You just need to get away from here. As the autopilot takes over, you hop to the back. Samantha is groaning in pain, and you scavenge around the VTOL for a medkit. When you find one, you rip it open, searching for something, anything. You find a painkiller patch, wound sealer, and an arm sling.

That will have to do. As you get her arm with the patch and put it in the sling, you gently tug her up. The pain's knocked her unconscious, but she's still alive, and stable.

A message comes in over your commlink.

“Boss, am I glad to see you!” Face says, and you wearily grin at him.

“It's been a long day. Get the job done?”

“Of course. Where are you, right now?”

You take a look outside, and see the river below.

“Out by the shipping facilities by the river. Can our client do anything to get us?”

You watch as Face makes another call. He looks at you and frowns.

“he can either get a small team of three or four men out there, or a getaway team. Which one do you want?”

“Alright, he says they'll be there in 900 seconds. Find a safe spot to hole up and-”

Whatever Face was about to say, it gets cut off as a rocket hits the side of the VTOL. As it starts to turn, you tug hard on the controls, trying to avoid crashing into a building. As the VTOL drops in the air, you realize only one thing is going to happen.

You're about to crash into that cargo ship.

Popping open the back hatch, you pick on Samantha on your back, and run for the hatch. Right as the plane hits, you jump out, and skid across the deck.

You look back at the VTOL, lying in a wrecked ruin, and then you see more in the sky.

You have company.

“What's happening?”

It's Samantha, blearily rubbing her eyes.

“You got shot. Now, we're running from half the cops in this city. Can you handle a gun?”

she nods, and you give her the other pistol. Together, the two of you descend downwards, into the cargo bays. You can hear footsteps on the deck above, and the two of you stand back to back.

“We're surrounded.” she says, matter-of-factly.

You look around for some advantage, any advantage...and you see it. Fuel tanks on the other side of the ship.

“Not for long.” You squeeze the trigger, and pull Samantha into cover.
>>
>>27226795
BOOM.

As the gas tanks go off, you hear groan of steel as the ship breaks apart. With the back of the ship gone, the cargo starts, moving, tilting the ship as troops descend. Clinging to the side of a crate, you use it as cover, sliding along the ship floor as you take out the security forces. As troops slide as well, you push off the crate, sliding along to another and using it for cover as well.

“We're about to hit the water!” Samantha yells, and you hop to the top of the crate.

It hits the water, and bobs along, momentum carrying it downstream. Up on the top of the deck, you can see forces moving...and an unexploded VTOL.

You know what to do. Raising your, gun, you fire, and the deck erupts in flames as the VTOL explodes.

“Just like old times, eh?”

You turn to Samantha, but she's not responding. You feel a chill, and check her pulse.

She's alive, but unconscious. As you shake her, however, she wakes back up.

"What..happened?"

You point towards the VTOL, and she shakes her head.

'that always happens."

You smile inwardly, and together, the two of you step off the crate, onto one of the docks, and reenter the city.

You need a place to hide, and several options are nearby.

>Bar. Odd people go in and out of bars all the time. No one should notice you.
>Hotel. Only an idiot would stay in a hotel. That's why you're going there right now.

You barely get her into the room before she faints again. Immediately, you call up Face.

“Face, where is that attack team? I need some medical supplies, now!”

“They're coming. Where's your location?”

You send it over to him, and within minutes, you hear a polite knock on your door. Peering through the eyehole, you see a bunch of men, standing about. One of them speaks.

“Face gave us the directions.”

Holding your gun, you open the door, and three men move in. Quiet, sleek, and professional, one of them immediately walks over to Samantha and starts treating her wounds, while the the other looks outside the window. The third looks at you with appraising eyes, and finally, sticks out his hand.

“Calvin Kirv. Our mutual client sent us over. What did you have in mind for us?”

>attack with Kirv

“Kirv? I may have heard something about you. Here's what we need to do. Take your men and....” As you lay out idea, the shape of a plan comes to mind. Kirv makes his suggestions and ideas, but for the most art, the plan is all yours. As the two of you look at blueprints of Amptech Tower, you look occasionally over at Sam, who hasn't woken up yet.

Two men, against an entire corporation.

Can you really pull this off?

The next day, you watch as the men put Sam into the back of a private ambulance and drive off into the distance. After they 're out of sight, you settle in with Kirv in his car.

He speaks, his voice calculating and calm.“So. You know what we need to do. Get the Amptech Servers on floor 96, and trash them.”

“Yes. Did you bring what we needed?” You say.

After all, you wanted:

>Uniforms. You're going to sneak, upload a virus, and sneak out.
>Explosives. You're destroying everything, including that back-up data, and you're forgetting that the word subtlety exists
>Rappel gear. You're going to the top of the tower, rappel down, and hold that CEO hostage until he voluntarily wipes those servers.
>Other.

>other
All of the above,
Rappel down, blow up everything, sneak out using the uniforms during the ensuing chaos, and finally ride away on a bitchin' motorbike

Get some guns as well. Also, if Twitch is around, see if we can have a remote hacking tool so that we can steal all Amptech data and sell it on the black market later on. We're going to remove these guys from the face of the planet.

>Kill Everything.

You grab the bag Kirv brought, and check it. Yep, everything's there. As the car pulls up to Amptech tower, you look at Kirv.

“Ready?”

“Ready.”

As the two of you walk into Amptech, a guard walks up.

“You're not on staff-”

You punch him out, grab his ID Card, and scribble your name on it.

“Am now.”

An Alarm rings, and you and kirv go for your guns.

Guards start running into the lobby, and you pull out your handgun and unload into the crowd. You and Kirv strafe around each other, dropping bodies like flies, guns spitting fire.

As the two of you make it to the elevator, Kirv turns around and rolls a grenade out the doors right before they close. As they close shut, you hit the elevator button.

BOOM.
>>
>>27228644

A muffled explosion rings in the air, and the elevator begins its descent up. The floor sign slowly counts up, and it seems like things are going according to plan.

Then the elevator shuts down.

Kirv immediately snaps open the roof, and jumps up, grabbing the ledge. You do likewise, but up a head, you can see doors closing off the elevator shaft.

“Grab the cable.” You say, and Kirv, does so, right as you shoot out the elevator below. As it drops, you and Kirv are speedily reeled upwards, barely avoiding the closing doors in the elevator shaft. As each one closes behind you, the time gets smaller and smaller, until the last one grazes your skin.

“We're almost there! Kirv, do you have a grenade launcher?” As he tosses one to you, you take it and fire upwards, blowing the last door off its mountings. The door above snaps shut, cutting the cable, and you and Kirv lunge for the ledge.

Both of you slam onto it, and slowly, the two of you pry the door open-and gunfire cuts through, passing your fingers. You let go, and the door slams shut.

“Got any grenades?” He passes you a few, and you count down. On zero, the two of you pull open the doors, and roll grenades down the halls. As they explode, you open them again and rush downwards, assault rifles blazing. With Kirv at the rear and you at the front, you round the corner, surprising two more guards.

Dropping your rifle, you spin around one , grab his neck and crack it, and pull the knife from his sheath, in order to whirl around and slice the other guard's throat.

As the two of them drop, Kirv points ahead.

“Servers are in there.”

the two of you rush through, shooting out the lock, and find yourself in a room filled with computers. Rushing over to a terminal, you plug a router in, open it on the desktop, and let the hacker on the other side do her work. As she hacks through the files, extracting everything of note, you and Kirv plant explosives all over the server floor.

This place is going down.

As Twitch sends you a message that's she's all done, you and Kirv slip into uniforms, and head down the stairs. You exit, walk outside, and turn.

BOOM.

A magnificent explosion rings out in the air, blowing out the servers, and taking out the floor right above them.

Job complete.

You look over at Kirv, and say.

>”Nice work.”
>”I think I killed more people than you.”
>other.

>"Nice Work."

Kirv says, “Yes, you too.”

With that, the two of you part, As you walk away, you receive a message from your client.

“Job done. Payment sent.”

Well, that's it, isn't it. Getting on your motorcycle, you ride out of Beijing. You've had enough of the Celestial City for a while. You drive away, leaving the smoking city far behind you.

-A few days later-

a lady wakes up in a hospital. To her surprise, no one is waiting for her. She feels disappointed, but at the same time, shakes her head.

What did she expect?

He is a jerk, after all.

Forms are signed, treatments remembered, bills paid. She walks out, back to a lonely life. She waves for a taxi, when she sees it.

Him on a motorcycle. He waves at her, and she smiles and waves, her face full of joy.

Then she spots it.

He's brought friends.

The road behind is filled with cars, helipcopters, and VTOLS, and as he passes by, he throws out something, and speeds along his merry way.

She picks it up, and her face contorts in rage.

A pineapple.

He's a the biggest jerk of the centery, but he doesn't care. Consequences are beyond him.

He's just an asshole in the future.

-Quest End-

Well, that's that. Sorry if the ending seems abrupt, but I couldn't quite figure out a way to throw in a big boss fight without throwing in someone else at the last minute. Hopefully though, you enjoyed the rest. Comments? Questions? Criticisms? lay them on me!

Awesome as always.

Seconded.

These threads are always amazingly enjoyable to participate in and to read again later! Keep them sporadic though, it adds to the allure.

Nailed it in one.

I like your one-shot format more than some longer going quests, honestly.

I would like to see Twitch and Face get some more screentime, honestly.

Twitch seems like she has the heart of the smoothest operator inside her, waiting to get out, and hangs out with Adam Jerk because they pay is good and the work is never boring.
She and samantha need to have some rookie runner girl time.

And face? What the heck does he do when he's not on a mission?

I mean, they are wonderful support, but they could use a little more .... something, i think.
