By now, most of the crew has assembled around Black Jack- Patrick and Richard are working on retensioning the loose track while Rose has the engine compartment opened and is checking oil. "Where's Roy?" You ask, crawling up to the engine deck with Rose.

"Late night." Rose says shortly. "Said he'd be late, didn't think it would be this late though..."

You sigh. "Give him a call and tell him to get his ass down here." You're going to be going toe-to-toe with a goddamned Centurion and your loader is unrested and not even here. "Darjeeling wants a match..."

"Yeah, with a Centurion." She says, pulling out the dipstick to check the oil level. "We're a few quarts low- want me to top it off?"

"Wait how did-?" You say, mouth making many superfluous movements.

"Anzu texted me last night. Said you'd already agreed." She shrugs. "Should be fun. Seven'o'clock." She says quickly and quietly- you turn your head and see Miho approaching.

"Was I the only one not informed ahead of time?" You growl. You make a mental note to get back at Anzu.

"Sorry..." Miho says. "Thought she'd told you-" She straightens a bit before smiling. "Actually, I was wondering if I could ride along? From what I understand this will be just like American senshado- I want to see what it's like!"

Well, it's only on the AC1 hulls. AC 3 and up hulls replaced the whole front glacis with thicker armour at an absurd slope. Something like ~150mm equivalent thickness. Fucking nuts.

Once they added the 17pdr, they got rid of the hull gun and the radio operator's station in order to put ammo there. They moved the radio into the turret and the loader became the radio operator.

Also, it was 60mm of armour at 24 degree slope.

Forty-five minutes later, Black Jack is cruising along the road towards Old Town. The 17pdr gun was deadly effective at distance- its high velocity shells had a travel time of half a second over a thousand yards. So you were going to bring the fight to where they'd lose that advantage- a short range urban fight.

You hadn't gotten a chance to meet Nilgiri before the match- but going off what Darjeeling had said she had only recently been made a commander- any one can sit on a hill and take potshots from a quarter mile away, but there's an artform to urban tanking that could only be taught by experience- another card in your favor.

"Hey Commander!" Patrick calls up over the comms. "Since we're alone in this, want some tunes?"

"Radio or iPod?" You ask.

"iPod- patched straight into the radio- I could blast it wideband if you want." You can practically feel his wicked grin.
