You are Ssen, a Lamia raised by a human Paladin who adopted you after killing the ones who birthed you. You are grown now, and Father has passed on. After a great deal of work, you have become a Paladin like your Father, and now take up his duties.

You are accompanied by your best friend from childhood, the insect druid Tricia; Mage, a magic user who ran away from his family of cannibal raiders known as the Ghouls (Yes, his name is Mage. It was his idea); Persephone, a 22-year old thief/ex-guerllia fighter (She goes by Peri), and Mari, a 13-year old prodigy scholar/now sniper, who has her mind and soul trapped within Peri's body; and Lea, a deeply religious musician/martial artist, trained by her father, a famous trainer for arena fighters, she's covered from her mouth down in bandages to hide the horrific state her body has become thanks to the 'cures' that saved her from cancer.

Your journey continues...

This is it, the end of Citadel...you hope. The plan is to leak the location of the Heart to Kingfisher, and follow him to it. Then jump him, create the Grand Seal using the Lantern Mirrors, which will allow you take control of Citadel and all its power. Then, as a group (To help fight off any temptation that kind of power would give) ease Citadel, and all of its people, back into the real world, while releasing the souls trapped within it.

Shadow Company will be your back up, incase you need an instant army. The Rouge Birds, defected spies from Kingfisher's camp, will be your back-up to help neutralize Kingfisher and his loyal flunkies.

This plan has so many things that can go wrong you're not sure to start the list alphabetically, chronologically, or by severity. Still, it's the best Dawnchaser plan you can come up with that can (hopefully) prevent any more lives from being lost.

{Alright,} Sun says. {The Freed say that Kingfisher and his people have regrouped in the Feast of Fall. The Newgate there isn't in the castle, the place is passive, and the lure of food is easy enough to dodge. They'll enter the Castle there.}

"I want to know more about Wakari, real quick." Lea says. "Teo-Has has no bones, or close enough to it, what can he do? What's more, how's Kingfisher in a fight?"

"What, you don't think they'll just surrender?" Cai says. "Wakari's got this trick he does with numbers, area attacks are your best bet. I've seen the guy dodge crossbow bolts, and nearly every combat form. That or make it so he can't see, feel, smell, or hear your attacks. He dodges almost everything, he barely needs to think about it now. Oh, he'll also wield this dinky looking dagger, not even poisoned, but he does that trick with numbers again, and if he hits, he'll hit an artery or that one gap in your armor."

{Kingfisher...never seen him in a fight.} Sun says. {Though I know he can use magic. I think. Dao?}

She nods. {He can tap into magic reserves. But I've never seen him do anything with it, not even the basic trick of a static electricity generated bolt.}

"So we have no idea what he can do." Cai says. "We always did his fighting for him."

"Do you want us to take Fall over?" Janos asks. "Or should we just move in and try to hide?"

- Stay in Past and wait for Freed to open passage? - Odette writes.

"I thought you couldn't reach the Silver City." Mari says.

Odette reaches underneath her blindfold, and pulls something out. She hands you a white marble. - Follow that, you go, I can follow, keep way open. -

"That safe?" Tricia asks.

- No. -

How is this a bad thing?
>>
Oh man time for LlllAMIAQUEST.

Loose ends which I feel -need- to be dealt with:

Old one's hoard of souls
slavery in orc town
the potential extinction of all nonhumans

The only thing I feel okay asking about using citadel for, though, is freeing the old one's hoard. Soul freeing is soul freeing, right?
>>
>>27049700
>avoid the potential extinction of all nonhumans
This is what I'd use Citadel for.

Old One needs to start his own megacorp. The fantasy version of Standard Oil and later the Shadowrun version of Weyland Yutani.

As for the orcs, perhaps time will change their culture.
>>
>>27049665
"Making an open offensive with the Shadow Company will only alert Kingfisher even faster. I can handle Kingfisher but the other two should non-fatally dealt with. I can coat weapons in black for whomever wants to face Teo and Wakari as I suspect the latter would especially need slowing down."

Try arguably cheating. That bastard will ignore our success rolls.
>>
>>27049665
okay, time for first dialogue. Let's rumble.

"Well, I guess now isn't the time to be worrying so much about personal safety. Wait, is it not safe for us, or for YOU? Because if it's the former, then sure, we'll use this instead of having the shadow company follow directly."

"Anyway, hopefully we'll avoid fighting with kingfisher's people, but thanks for the tips. Never know when they might try for some combat. It will be a shame if we ruin the food in the process. Man, I hope they just have gross desserts and things, or the feast is gonna be a tricky one."

I agree. Slavery is an institution, and institutions arise out of cultural doctrine and necessity, neither of which can be removed quickly. The best way to have the orcs abandon slavery is to make the slaves unnecessary. And that will take a while.

As for Old One...well...pic related?
>>
Throwing this out there so it's not a big surprise later:

How about we just tell kingfisher of our plan of letting him go in first and then beating him there? It's still advantageous for him to do it, since he'll get his shot at the heart, and it's still advantageous for us, since we'll get to stop him and have our own shot at stopping citadel.

Also, it's just sportsmanlike to give him a chance to get traps and such ready.
>>
>>27049860
Exactly what I had in mind.
And, in centuries prior, he sat in a gigantic office that rivaled Gendo's sporting an oddly undersized top hat.
He killed you if you made fun of the hat.
>>
>>27049860
>>27049778
I'm fine with old one owning a megacorp, but what about his ETERNALLY TORMENTED SOUL PILE?

Maybe we can barter him out of it or something. Maybe he likes gambling.
>>
>>27049888
Trade him soma for the soul rock He gets to play with some gods until they decide to do their damn job/pass on and we get to release some puny mortals.
>>27049778
>>27049860
Old One was planning on taking over the Orcs anyways, I say tell him to employ them on commission. They seem to like that idea and everyone wins
>>
>>27049940
I think he was actually just planning on robbing the orks territory blind of gold deposits. I mean, he literally rips gold out of the ground.

Oh, and we DON'T want the rock the souls are stored in. Since that rock is gold. It would make the trade a LOT pricier for us, and we'd get a lot of worthless gold along with the souls, when really all we need is freed souls.
>>
I'd suggest trying to convince him to interact more with the rest of the world, starting the megacorp and all, but it doesn't really matter as that's going to be offscreen.
>>
>>27049986
Use the rock to fund something. Besides, we are trading gods and godlings, one of whom is one of the people Old One really hates and is the leader of them.
>>
>>27049869
He'd probably assume he's being used as bait.

The real test will be tricking him into thinking we aren't.

We hear his plan for a good ten minutes before offering a brief critique or editing, he counters, and then we act like we were convinced and will let him go through with it.
He's going to be mad when he finds out we don't support the entire idea of having some kind of artificial god deciding what's just and what's unjust.

The genetics thing I'm willing to cave for. That doesn't establish a god, it's just a one time change. If it uses souls to do it, then no.
>>
oh, and one more issue:
We need to get married with tricia once this is done. Real married, not fake dragon married. With a wedding dress and everything.

I propose tricia be the one wearing the suit, because we can't wear pants.

"Well, I guess now isn't the time to be worrying so much about personal safety. Wait, is it not safe for us, or for YOU?" You ask.

Odette nods.

"I hate it when people do that." Mage says. "It's not as clever you think it is."

- You willing to risk life. So am I. Still Paladin. My duty. My choice. Aware of danger, still doing it. -

"Alright, making an open offensive with the Shadow Company will only alert Kingfisher even faster. So, go with that plan." You say as you pocket the marble. "But be CAREFUL, for His Light's sake. Ideally, we'll avoid fighting with kingfisher's people, but thanks for the tips. I can coat weapons in black for whomever wants to face Teo and Wakari as I suspect the latter would especially need slowing down."

"He's not really fast, but he moves just enough so that he's not there when you stab at him." Cai says.

>using Citadel more than strictly necessary.

Bad idea. Very bad idea. Using Citadel to fix anything in the outside world would pretty much make us no better than Kingfisher. We start down that road and I very doubt we'd be able to stop.

Besides, even if we are retiring after this (Ssah and Ssai need us, after all), there will be other heroes. We can leave things to the next generation and help guide them just like Granny helped guide us.
>>
>>27050582
maybe we'll tell Isen to fix the old one thing and the slavery thing. See how he deals with a pali-crisis.
>>
>>27050582
Kingfisher wants to establish a divine karma system to fix social problems.
We wouldn't be doing that if we fixed the genetics problem. We'd already be using Citadel to ensure no casualties. Saying "we shouldn't use it at all" is automatically hypocritical.
>>
>>27050424
Right, so Wakari can manipulate probability?

Makes you wonder why he didn't use it on us in the courtroom. I think that we naturally screw probability enough that his power is negated.
>>
>>27050636
actually, I think we'd be using it specifically for in-citadel actions, nothing in the outside world.

Just enough to reverse the wall-procedure without collapsing it.

There -will- be casualties. Have you forgotten the sheer population of citadel? Starvation is immediately a problem.

IT. IS. POWERED. BY. SOULS!

Do you WANT to us to become the new Dramatae? Because using Citadel to mess with nature and prevent any change that would make the world less interesting to us sure seems like a Dramatae thing to do. Add in the fact that we aren't sure if doing so would permanently destroy multiple souls; the fact that Robin, Ryan, Jesse, Odette, and mom are among those souls; and our debts to the aforementioned. Still think using Citadel to fix what we don't like about the world is a good idea?
>>
>>27050834
We don't know if that uses souls. Kingfisher's plan allegedly doesn't.

However, if it does use souls, then I agree completely.
>>
>>27050834
>>27050853
even if it doesn't use souls, I'm of the mind that we only use it for the intended use of shutting down citadel. I want to minimize all possibilities of neo-dramatae.

we're going to be fighting them eventually, according to both plans. It's going to be interesting, to say the least.

Odette shrugs. - Didn't want to poke too deeply. Might lose self. Go back to being Worker. -

"Well, we should probably have some food first, just to make sure we aren't tempted." You sigh. "Going to be weird fighting without Clang."

"We have other shields that are the same size as your old one." Janos says. "One or two have a little quicksilver as well...but I get it. Wouldn't be the same, would it?"

You nod. "But is there anything you need to do? Maybe we need explosiv-"

"NO." Tricia says.

"They'll know. You can count on it." You say as you tuck the note into the inside of your armor.

She nods.

You head through the door into the Fall.

The smell is the first thing that hits you, and you can't help but drool.

"Oh, we should have swung by here first." You hear Tricia say. "That or I think Odette is teasing us."

This place is either a butchers or a smoke house, or some other place that cures meats, because there's tables that are FILLED with prime meats. Steaks, sausages, flanks, and roasts. There's even a mountain of honey glazed hams. Glistening and pink and lovely.

You and Tricia stare at them longingly for a moment. The lunch you had before you left of bread and jerky is all but forgotten.

You even see fresh tongue!

Mage and Lea thankfully drag the pair of you away from the feast.

Oh the smell is even better (or worse, depending on your viewpoint) from outside. There's the sound of drinking songs and sounds of glasses clinking and general mirth.

There are fountains in the street that are pouring wine, mead, and honey-milk into pools.

"We have to destroy all of THIS?" Tricia moans as she sees a Worker push a wheelbarrow filled with fresh, slightly oozing, sticky-buns past you. "We truly ARE monsters!"
>>
>>27054147

Okay, you can do this. Ignore the food. Don't look at it, don't think about it, don't stop. Just keep going forward and you'll make it to the castle.

The others have the same idea, curse their human bodies and how they don't have tongues and noses that can taste every little thing in the air, and how they can so EASILY just deny thmselves things when every instinct in you is begging you to start eating and gorging yourself until you've become so long that your tail will wind through ever Citadel street...the idea just causes shudders to go though your body. Oh this place is evil.

His assistants are haxor. I'd rather use him as bait, as planned.

We listened to what he has to say, off some minor critiques after his rant (and say nothing during), then we listen to his retorts and act as if we were convinced.
Then tell him how to get to the Citadel heart, while leaving out a very important piece of information (the meditation room).

While he and his ninjas are fighting, sneak by his dumb ass. If he spots us, run, with a cloud of poison covering our retreat.

there's always the alternate plan I proposed earlier. TELL him we're going to go in after him and get to the heart before him, but that he should probably try anyway, since he might beat us there after all.

This would make him knowingly make himself into bait to get there before us, or hold up somewhere in the castle to try to trap us. Either way, we gain advantage.
>>
>>27055537
Hey, the plan was to tell him the location of the heart. He'd get suspicious if we just gave it to him randomly and use us as the bait.

We need to give critique that sounds like we're on the verge of agreeing with him. Nothing along the lines of "well you can't just use Citadel because you'd be no better than the Fifth," but rather things like whether he thinks the past iterations of the PE are more or less legitimate than the current one he is trying to preserve and if he has a right to deny a future iteration from existing. He'd have an answer to this, which we act like we believed.

No matter how well spoken his responses, we disagree on a fundamental level. Which he doesn't know about yet because he broke us off earlier.

>>27055559

Teo-Has winces in a clear 'You've got to be fucking shitting me' look of exasperation. "Master, the Snake is here." She says.

"Of course she is." Kingfisher says, not turning around. "Miss Patrick, please inform my ex-employees that I thank them for their years of service and dismiss them from my employ. >>
>>27056263
"Well, I was going to ask you to finish that rant from earlier, maybe without being interrupted this time. After that, we'll maybe talk some business. How do my usual debates go?"

Since that's one of the major points of talking to kingfisher- making sure it's not an incredibly dumb risk to have him get into the castle for us. At least if his vision isn't SO terrible, us dying wouldn't be the end of the world.

"Oh? This? This keeps me sane. You sure picked a good location for this talk."
>>
"Depends. Are you going to be a pompous ass, or are you going to be reasonable?" You say.

"I am not one who enjoys long speeches. Be blunt and be quick, people who talk for talking's sake is something I equate to masturbation. Fun for the individual involved, but not something other people what sprayed all over them."

"Fine. You know...I don't actually know your name. I've always been calling you Kingfisher. What is your name?"

He pauses and looks over his shoulder with a smile.

"I thank you for your politeness. Kingfisher will do, my given name in the Empire is the equivalent of your 'Jack' or 'John.' A common name held by countless. But thank you for asking."

"Alright, with all the power you will take from citadel, without harming the citizens inside..what will you do?" You ask.

"Work." Kingfisher says. "I don't see that position as one where a person can take a sabbatical, or go around indulging in vices. I will remain in the Heart, and I will serve the world. The wicked will be punished, the good will be rewarded, bad concepts like slavery will be eroded away, and good concepts like your Free Kingdom...albeit integrated into the Empire...will be preserved." He adjusts his shoulders. "Sun, Cai, and the others will be allowed to be as they will, and as for you Paladins. Since there will be friction inherent in the system, or later usurpers to my place, and you all have an astounding talent in upsetting plots and conspiracies, you will be allowed to continue as well." He says. "I will end Orc slavery, help restore the decent parts of the Crafter civilization and their knowledge, heal diseases, and make life as it should be." He smiles. "It will be far from perfect, like this parody, a man will have to work for a living, but any man who is willing to sweat, or dedicate himself, will succeed. No need for chance or lucky breaks. Life will be equal and fair, and good."

"And the people inside Citadel? The dome?" Mage asks.

"They will all be safely taken out of the dome and placed out in the wastelands, from that point, their lives will be their own." He says.

"And you want people to worship you then?" Tricia asks.

"Not at all. I will ask for no temples, and demand no abasement." Kingfisher says. "Worship your Light, or the Phoenix, or whatever makes you feel safer at night. I will be the true God, that will be enough."

"And the souls that are currently within here?" Lea asks.

Kingfisher sighs. "An unpleasant sacrifice, and the one thing that makes this bitter and no real victory...but to do ANYTHING the Heart MUST expend the souls."

"Sacrifice? Expend? Wait, you mean you aren't going to just keep them locked in here?" Mari asks.

"I'm sorry, but yes. Citadel can keep a soul in itself, and use it to grow...but to change things...to fix things...to alter the world? The souls here will be..." He shakes his head. "No. I will not use flowery language to hide. They will be ripped apart and obliterated. Consumed by the Void. It is a horrible horrible thing, and there is no other way. That is why I will remain within the Heart, upon that throne, and spend the rest of eternity helping the world...to make up for that sin."
>>
>>27056813
Sigh.
"That's what I was afraid of. Tell me, how would those souls fair if the wall was taken down? Or holes simply made for long enough to evacuate, and then turned off entirely?
I value those souls quite highly, you know. I even know some. "
Then think on it a while. Are we going to give this guy the location and risk him doing this? I mean, we're planning on stopping him, but he might win.

Worth the risk?

That's a bit too blunt for my tastes.

"How can you speak of the obliteration of souls so casually? And when the Citadel runs out... what will you do then?"

This is going to turn into a fight I don't goddamn want. Maybe it will be so spectacular that the Citadel will take notice and we can split in the chaos. A sudden poison strike against Kingfisher wouldn't be amiss. His servants are useless without their master.

Again, I don't want this fight. That probability guy scares me.

The Fifth and the Dark Cold Man are cruel beings, and Peace was the controler of the Citadel before I stuck her down and all three very much wish for my death. "And..is that..everything then?" You ask.

"Yes." He says. "I could go into finer details and case by case examples of my plans, but you know how I feel about talking and not doing.

"I do plan on restoring the Freed to flesh. They deserve another chance at life for what they've overcome."

"But they've opposed you." Mage says. "Stolen from you."

Kingfisher shrugs. "The moon opposes the sun, and steals its light. The sun seems to be alright with it."

"What will you do when Citadel runs out of souls?" You ask.

"There are seven ages worth of souls within this city. Some have been here for so long that they have forgotten what sentience is, who they were, and anything other than the fact that they're a cobblestone or a tile. I will end their pain.

"Also, I do plan to have people work on that solution for me. Another power source, or method would be very welcome. I'd immediately start using it, and release all the remaining souls." He smiles at you. "I suppose you'd be the first digging through the libraries to help with that."

His smiles fades. "Or maybe not." He pauses.

Wakari and Teo-Has shift their stances.

"So, Lady Paladin Ssen Patrick...what happens now?"

You pause and flick your tongue out in annoyance.

"Fine. As much as I hate to admit it, Kingfisher, the Citadel's heart is almost impossible to breach. I'll need your help on the matter.

>>
>>27057518
Fuck "saving" him. He's beyond rational thought. The only valid reason to leave him alive is so that his soul won't get into Citadel and cause unpredictable side effects, and I'm not even convinced that's a serious threat.

Oh, and if we get a charge on Beacon, we have to save it for just the right moment of the Kingfisher fight.

Maybe a Morningstar at the beginning. Probability might dodge it, but it'll be too many success rolls at once for Kingfisher and No-Bones. Hell, why go after Probability? One person attacks No-Bones and everyone else attacks Kingfisher.
>>
>>27057603
This isn't how we treated Peace, Comedy, or Tragedy. Kingfisher is a dramatae, no, a Citadel in infancy.
>>
>>27057542
Oh. One last, last, thing before I punch out. Going to try something new here. The 'sequel' if you can call it that is going to be a bit more episodic than this. Think along the lines of Tales from Wells Fargo, or The Virginian.
Only with magic and monsterfolk.
>>
>>27057585
To call Kingfisher "rational" implies that he is capable of assessing new information and changing his goals and practices accordingly. He refuses to even entertain the fact that he might be fallible, and that his position may not be morally justifiable, which makes him an ideologue. A zealot. A fundamentally irrational person.

and Liam. And I consider each a black mark against us. Not this time. This time we do it right. We stop him to keep him from becoming the next Dramatae, the Next Citadel.

We will fight him and we may even kill him. But by the Light we will not do it out of hate. We will do it out of love, compassion and mercy.

Because for all the atrocities he's about to commit, Kingfisher is a good man, or is doing his damnedest to be one, misguided as it is.
>>
>>27057603
Quit being so fucking melodramatic. He's the villain, he won't change his mind, and if we stop him we only validate his twisted view that he's some kind of goddamn hero.

We're not playing a pacifist, and you need to accept the fact that sometimes we're going to have to kill a bitch.
>>
>>27057563
Kingfisher pauses as he stands before the door. He frowns and shakes his head and then shrugs. "Their loss." He mutters.

Then he opens the door. The glare of Silver and Diamonds blinds you for a moment, but you follow Kingfisher and the two followers.

The silver floor is warmer than you'd thought it would be. Also, Citadel decided to go with stark simplicity within the Castle. Just silver and diamonds, and a sense of peace and silence that's instantly calming to the mind. Even though you're inside a mountain, the place is filled with light. If His Light, or the Phoenix, or whomever, was one to keep palaces, this would be it. The Castle of Paradise itself.

It is also completely empty. No Workers, no Paladins, no sign of any Citadel sentience.

{The throne rooms are three floors above us. That large staircase goes up two floors, and then we walk around to one more staircase, and we'll be in the Throne of the Sun.} Wakari says.

{Very well.} Kingfisher says.

{Master...are they really not coming?} Teo-Has says. {Not even Memai?} She sounds hurt.

{No. I offered, and they made their choice. I respect free will.} Kingfisher says as he starts up the staircase. {Even when it's wrong.}

{Must he die?} Teo-Has asks.

{It's possible Memai will survive, and I will rescue him with the others.} Kingfisher says. {Otherwise, I am sorry.}

{I understand. You will make it so I will love another, and forget him.} She says. {All will be better.}

{Good girl. Wakari? Feelings?} He asks.

The man who looks like an slobby, spectacled, Conclave teacher in Empire robes shrugs. {It is your will.}

{I am humbled to have such friends as you two.} Kingfisher says.

You reach the top of the first flight of stairs. Still, no Workers, no Paladins, no nothing. Just the echos of your group's movement.

"Ssen...something's wrong." Tricia says. "What are they talking about?"

>>27057781
Fuck it, we'll deal with whatever it is later.

I'm tired of letting this asshole continually fuck us over because some of us refuse to recognize that he doesn't WANT to be "saved", and we can't MAKE him.
>>
>>27057791

She still has nerves, right?
She might wind up being the only survivor by sheer virtue of not having bones.
>>
>>27057791
We are NOT going to ignore the guy who can bullshit around with probabilit-This asshole is the guy who keeps fucking with our dice.

...All this time, I thought it was Citadel.
>>
>>27057808
She might have some bullshit immunity to paralytics too.

Throw a grenade in there? Two grenades?
I'm tired and want to get to the Heart already. I want to get off Kingfisher's wild ride.
>>
Also:

we have the note from odette in our armor. We should probably take it out if we're going to be going fullacid at any point.

Also, the poor, poor leather and cloth components of our armor.

Revision: Probability: Shout leviathan joke at him to confuse his math skills
>>
>>27057815
We ignore him in the first strike and make him focus on protecting Kingfisher. That's when we kill No Bones. She's our main target. Not expecting that, right?
>>
>>27057824
attempt this. Math jokes are the obvious solution to probability man.
>>
>>27057791
Not having bones doesn't save you from being beheaded or having your brain skewered. There goes Teo. Use an improbable attack on Probability Man for SUPER-EFFECTIVE.

I like fireballs on Kingfisher. Area attacks DO work on his bodyguards: best case scenario all three get blasted.
>>
>>27057815
He's not fucking around with luck you asshole. Haven't you seen Equilibrium?
>>
I'm getting tired of fucking Kingfisher, I just want to wrap his ass and yell at him so god damn much. Fuck him and his I don't want to listen to speeches, he is afraid of what me might say..
>>
You pull out you whisper flute and contact Sideways. "GOT OUT OF THERE!"

/Ssen! Too late! Citadel's throwing EVERYTHING at us! They're attacking Past with giant Worker-Things that are made out of...out of Workers! You need to HURRY! JANOS!!! LOOK OU-/

The connection ends.

You reached the top of the last staircase and are in the Throne of the Sun. The throne is made of gold and has a large sunburst at the top of it's back, the hall way that leads to the Fount is behind the throne hidden behind a lovely tapestry that's of a skyline of Citadel.

"I have a talent for mimicry." Kingfisher says. "It's a useful talent, especially when I can use magic to enhance it. It's gotten to the point where I can mimic nearly anything I see. I can't change my form like a fleshcrafter, but that kind of mimicry I feel shows a lack of imagination. In this case, I can mimic the speech, magical signature, and thaumic res...well I believe you prefer the term 'Magic Babble' to skip over the technical parts?" He smiles. "So I copied the alarm signal that Citadel uses when it notices 'deviance' as well as the spells that the Freed use to open connections between the different Citadels." He nods. "It's helpful that I can use the information my followers gather for me...even if their loyalty is less than I like.

"After that, it was rather simple to send the Deviance Signal throughout all Citadels, and open up every passway to Past that I could." He gestures to the empty throne room. "Elegant...although I hope you're satisfied. Sun, Cai, Dao, and Memai chose to stay and fight with Shadow Company." He shrugs.

"I hope they die well. Now...if you want to save them, you'll tell me what's the secret about the throne rooms that leads to the heart. The longer you dither, the more people die, are consumed by Citadel, and then reanimated as workers to fight against them."

Grab one of those molotovs and fiddle about lighting it. Fuck. Shit. Stupid steelflint.

I find it is like 90% less angering if you have gunkata going in the background.

We tried talking. It failed. Now is the time to bring in the criminals.
>>
>>27057844
"It's like you people never learn that hostage situations never end well for you."

Time to attack. The time for talk is over.
>>
Okay, we throw a grenade or two at Kingfisher to start with, then go all out on No Bones.

With her down, we focus on confusing Probability, possibly with math jokes (though he might be too disciplined for that), by making him chose between defending Kingfisher and himself.

Kingfisher will be their fucking mage, so gank him and then let Probability die a lonely death.
>>
>>27057844

"Countless hostages and all your magic yet you are still stuck asking me? You would make a poor god and only betray what you wish most for."

No, you idiot, that wastes time. We kill Kingfisher then go for the heart immediately.

Hell, I'm wondering if we shouldn't just bolt for the heart and risk going mad trying to control it on our own.
>>
>>27057895
Dumbass, thats what he wants. The time for talking is long past over.
>>
The surest way to bypass the paladin mercy code, it seems, is to hold a hostage or attack a cart full of civilians.
And while I'm happy we all agree to go for these guys, we need to decide on what way we're going to do it. Quick quick charge seems nice, but we should call for mage to burn everything after we do it. Everything.
>>
>>27057900
>>27057897
What i wanted to do was wrap him before he even got in the fucking building. Nobody fucking listened

>>27057949
All the more reason to end it quickly in a ball of flaming angry spines covered in BEES and FISTS, so we can get to the Heart.

I mean, he just drew down an attack on innocent people as a bargaining chip, so if ever there was a time to SMITE AND TEAR it's now.
>>
>>27057967
That's not true Echo, is it?
>>
>>27057959
I'm getting them. They range from sad things to angry things.

Gonna be so glad when this whole citadel thing is over. I know a year and a half isn't that long to be a paladin, but retirement sounds sweet.

Maybe with a bi-yearly trip up to the old one to gamble more souls out of his soul pile. We should teach him card games.
>>
>>27057954
That was supposed to be another 'you are THE Serpent' thing. Heaven is sometimes described as being a Silver City, a place of perfect meditative silence.

the wording isn't so ominous.

>>

I say we basically do a hypervelocity beacon charge, slam those guys to the ground, and have mage call down fire on our position.

Because we're in too much of a hurry to deal with friendly fire.
>>
>>27057983
And the birds that are with us are the fallen angels and Kingfisher is basically God who isn't listening to our advice at all.

I hate you so god damn much.

Yup. We are enraged like no other lamia has ever been enraged, before or since. We've never been truly angry up until this point. Bloodthirsty? Sure. But absolutely batshit "how dare you launch an all out assault against my horde" angry?
Never.

We strike Kingfisher down.
>>
Also, I'm sort of hoping to get in there with the claws. Tear things apart some. Maybe acid claws, we never use those, but it's bound to be more dangerous than normal ones.
>>27058012
goddamnit stop noticing things that prove we're satan

Really too bad about not having him to run the southern colony.

We usually stick some high profile guy in charge of the place, like Isen. We don't have anyone for the colony.

Maybe we'll have to nurture that communist government.
>>
>>27058045

Kingfisher knew how to push our buttons. That's a simple fact.
>>
>>27058040
don't get mad at the echo. After all, he chose your speeches as the one Ssen was most likely going for.

I'm just hoping kingfisher's folk put up a good fight at this point. I'm expecting some serious kata shit, and some SWEET REVERSAL countergrapples from the boneless girl on our wraps.
>>
>>27058058
The longer the fight, the more side characters die. Hopefully we take somebody down before they're able to slow us down too much.

"To hold hostages against a lamia."

eh, she's probably going to be super mad at us for killing kingfisher.

>>27058071
When someone takes a part of your hoard, and threatens to destroy it if you don't give him what he wants, what's to stop him from doing it again? Or asking for the rest of your hoard? It just doesn't make sense.
>>
>>27058089
>>27058096
I'm down with ramming our claw through his sternum and yanking out his spine.
>>
>>27058089
I'm more of the mind of sticking him REAL good with beacon, so much so it gets stuck.

Then we can go nuts with claws VS knife on the equilibrium dude, and it will be the best knife fight ever.

>>27058111
I'll repost this, but here's the Boss Music for this fight:

Enough talk of killing kingfisher's folks.
More worry about the heart of citadel. We never did find out if just turning it off would burn souls.
Also, more considering lamiaweddinggowns. And possibly removing that rock from our head.
>>
>>27058100
Try and find a way to attract the things to us instead of the Shadow Company. If that proves unfeasible, kill Kingfisher dead, and do it quick. No monkeying around. Don't split the party.

ah, marvelous. It would have been silly to just leave it there. Well, I'm sort of zazzed right now, so no bedtime for me yet. Maybe I'll give forewarning on folk I'm gonna ask about for the epilogue.

The members of the snake trail.
Tallow.
The folk running bronze peak
The harpies.
Tricia's parents
The general fate of river's cross
what happened to them orphans when the white tree magic place shut down
Adahn and Ava, along with the general fate of the new caligo clarus.

Probably a bunch of other stuff, too. Like "make sure Ssen's statue has at least one piece of tail balled up just right so that you can coil up and bask on it"
