You are Christopher Phillips, previously just another teenage nerd living in a small English town, and a lot of things have changed in your life since you died.

You’ve kept control over a lot of those changes. Some of them have gained you things, more friends and allies and more strength with which to defend them and yourself from the things lurking in the shadows of this quiet little town. Some of them have been challenges to overcome, or opportunities to take advantage of. Many of them have been dangerous. Many have been enjoyable. But you’ve always focused on gaining, and keeping, control.

Right now, you are not in control, and it feels distinctly uncomfortable. Ajani and his group of amateur monster-hunters are sitting on one side of their usual table, lined up much more neatly than usual. They’re all staring at you, and the atmosphere is solemn - like a funeral. Or a trial.

Ajani has seated himself in the centre, with Gloria at his right hand and James at his left. Esther is sitting on the far side of James, and looks almost bored with the whole show. Louie is at the other end, trying not to look nervous. Ajani, Gloria and James are all trying to keep their faces as stoic as possible, but James still manages to look smug.

A single chair has been placed on the other side of the table, opposite Ajani. He gestures brusquely to it, and says "We've been waiting for you, Chris. Take a chair. Let's talk.”

You sit slowly - you don’t really have much of a choice in the matter - and wait for him to continue.

“I had a little talk with Zack yesterday, and while I’m reassured that he’s not a deliberate murderer, there’s still a long way to go before he’s safe to be around other people. But that’s a matter for later. First, I want to discuss the other interesting things that he mentioned, about you and your friends. Actually...” He pauses for dramatic effect. “Why don’t you just start from the beginning, and tell us everything?”
>>

[]Deny having any idea what he’s talking about. You’re a perfectly ordinary person who wants to help him out, and there’s nothing unusual about any of your friends.
[]Give him as edited a version of the truth as you think you can get away with. Just talk about your meetings with Zack, and maybe Jill’s powers.
[]Start with your death, three and a half weeks ago, and tell him everything.

Though Zack shouldn't know anything about me, and adding to that how his attitude changed just the day he was coming to see you, i am starting to believe a certain bitch-queen got to him despite my efforts. But that is beside the point for now, since you obviously want to talk about me."

After this conversation, I really think we should put together a testimony that Ajani and his friends are out to kill us and our friends, that they've subtly threatened us because we're "different", and have the thing signed and publicly notarized, and ready to go to the police. Or maybe even report them to the police now, so that a file gets started.

Oh, no no no. You are not putting up with this. Ajani's obviously gone to a fair bit of effort to be dramatic and imposing, but you're not interested in playing the part he's written for you in his head.

"You haven't told me anything about what Zack supposedly said, you know. If you've got questions, why don't you ask them? In fact, why don't all of *you* start from the beginning, and tell me all about yourselves instead?"

Ajani visibly falters. "Well, uh... hang on, I asked first."

Gloria sighs and nudges Ajani hard in the ribs with her elbow, and he winces.

"Uh, that is, what I meant to say was that some doubts have been raised about how... loyal to the cause you are. Zack was very complimentary about you, and he's still kind of suspicious."

"Hold on a second," you reply, scowling briefly at Gloria. "Raised by who? And what's all this 'loyal to the cause' business? I thought we were a bunch of people who hung out because we all liked to help people, not a revolutionary movement. Zack was nice about me because I'm a nice person, and not someone who treats him as 'suspicious' just because he's got a disease."

Gloria splutters, talking over Ajani as he starts to reply. "A nice person? You're not a person at all! You're an abomination against the holy order!"

Ajani turns to her, frowning. "Dammit, Gloria, we talked about this- "

"Hold on," James cuts in, "shouldn't we be talking about this whole 'cause' thing? I didn't sign up to sacrifice myself for some intangible 'cause'."

"Nor I," adds Esther, sliding her chair back from the table a little.

Ajani and Gloria start talking over each other in a very agitated fashion, James occasionally butting in to stir things up even more. He's visibly grinning, although Ajani and Gloria are paying too much attention to each other to notice. Esther takes Louie by the arm and pulls him away from the table.

>[x]Go talk to Esther and Louie
Esther and Louie are the researchers for this group; while having front-line hitters is important, when fighting magical threats it can be just as important, if not more, to know the strengths and weaknesses of our enemies.
Especially weaknesses.
>>
>>27045244
>You're an abomination against the holy order!
I'd like to say, "And is that a crime in a court of English Law? Because we're not in the Dark Ages anymore where an accusation of being a witch is enough to get a person burned at a stake, or tortured by the Spanish Inquisition."
But I don't think that interfering when James is already helping along the deterioration of the relationship between Ajani and Gloria would be too effective.
>>
>>27045452
>>27045557

((Okay, writing now.))
>>
>>27045635
You decide to leave Gloria and Ajani to their little squabble, and walk over to the bookshelves. Esther is skimming book titles, her hand resting on Louie's shoulder. As you walk up behind them you can see that she's actually gripping his shoulder fairly tightly, holding him in place. You clear your throat ostentatiously. Louie nearly jumps out of his skin, but Esther lets go of his shoulder and turns to face you, apparently unruffled.

"I do hope you're not going to bother us like your friend James tends to," she says. Her face and her tone of voice stay fairly flat, but there's something threatening lurking in her eyes. "He's awfully uncouth, and he only gets away with it because of Ajani's favour. You appear to have no such favour."

"I wouldn't dream of bothering you like that. I just wanted to talk. And maybe to ask an impartial party what on earth Gloria's deal is."

Esther sniffs, glancing over at Gloria with an annoyed expression. "I suspect 'on earth' is precisely the deal. Gloria refuses to talk about why she is on Earth rather than in Heaven. She occasionally speaks about having a mission or a quest of some sort to fulfil before she is permitted to return, but her claims are unconvincing. Ajani finds her an effective fighter, and I suspect also a pleasurable companion, but her temper and her egoism are ultimately detrimental to the efficiency of our team. If she does not..." Esther pauses, rolling her tongue around in her mouth for a moment. "If she does not 'grow up'," she continues, with a careful pause around the phrase, "then ultimately she will become a liability. We will be forced to cut her loose."

Louie nervously moves closer to Esther, his eyes slightly wide. "But, I mean, we can't abandon her, surely? She's our friend. I can't go out there and fight the monsters instead of her. I wouldn't dare..."

Esther grins. "Ah, but we have a solution to that now, don't we, Chris? What do you think?"
>>
>>27046022
"Perhaps, if our goals and methods align. I'm all for mutual protection, and helping out people when we can. Just so long as we're not rushing headlong into something that could get us hurt or killed without exploring alternatives.
"So, why did you join the group, Esther, and what do you want from it?"
>>
>>27046022
have you brought it up with her that shes such a *cough*CUNT*cough* nuisance to the group and that she could be kicked out if she doesnt grow up or does Ajani think her fighting ability outweighs is
>>
>>27046022

>>
>>27046372
"So, have you brought it up with Gloria that if she doesn't grow up, she might end up kicked out?"

Esther just raises an eyebrow. "You've interacted with Gloria previously, yes? Do you judge her as the sort of person inclined to listen to criticism or alter her actions based on what other people think of her?"

"Okay, fair point. Still, encouraging her to grow up might be a good idea. I'm not really much of a fighter myself. I'm all for mutual protection and helping people out, but I wouldn't bet on me taking Gloria's place in hunting."

Esther grins back at you. "You held your own against a werewolf that was a challenging opponent for Gloria and Ajani together, and even subdued it when they were both injured. Perhaps your fighting abilities are more substantial than you perceive them to be."

You shrug. "He was pretty badly hurt already by that time. And besides, I don't want to end up rushing headlong into battle generally. I'd like to find out more about the things around us. And speaking of finding out more, why don't you tell me about yourself? Why did you join this group, and what do you want from it?"

"I joined for much the same reason the other members did - Ajani suggested it would be a good idea, and we listened. He is the linchpin of our collaborative. Each of our members, apart from you, is someone who knew Ajani before he formed the group, and who he believed would be an asset. We..." She pauses, again seeming like she's picking her words very carefully. "We trust him, all of us. And he trusts us in return. That is valuable, but it also allows situations like those of James or Gloria to grow beyond the point where another leader would have, ah, cut out the problematic elements."

"Interesting, but you didn't quite answer my question. You didn't mention what it is that you want from this group."

Esther simply grins at you, then nudges Louie forward. "Why don't you tell the nice man about your own history with Ajani, Louie?"

((Cont.))
>>
>>27046851
Louie looks very nervous, and he stammers out a beginning and abandons it a few times before he finally gathers enough confidence to speak. His voice is quite feminine, and he speaks fairly quietly, so that you have to strain a little to make him out.

“W-well, Ajani was always really nice to me in class, he looked out for me when other guys would try and pick on me, and I guess he figured I was really good with books, so when he had this idea a few weeks back about getting everyone together and working to make things better, he said I should join, and then James said I should join too, and I just couldn’t really say no to them both, so, uh, I just sort of joined, and I met Gloria, who was really scary, and Esther, who’s always really nice, even if she does use lots of long words all the time.”

Esther sighs, and adds, “Elocution is of paramount importance, Louie. It demonstrates one’s capabilities as a linguist and a conversationalist.”

“L-like that, yeah. It’s not like I don’t know what the words mean, but if I try and use lots of them I just end up stuttering more. Anyway, I just kind of let Ajani and Esther look after me, and I know that I’m helping Ajani out and doing useful things for him, and... I guess that’s all I really want out of the group. Uh, was that everything you wanted? I-I’m sorry if I wasn’t helpful enough...” Louie suddenly looks like he’s about to cry.
>>
>>27046865
"No, no, that's quite alright, Louie.
"And...I think I understand, Esther, your reasons for staying with the group.
"Though...well, I don't mean to be insulting, but Ajani hasn't really thought this through, has he? I mean, we're in England, and the 21st Century. It's one thing to be taking down undead husks who aren't in the system anymore, but what happens if the police get wind of a fight, or someone takes video from their phone and uploads it to YouTube? Even worse if he hurts or kills someone still on the books as an upstanding citizen, like Zack. Do you guys have any plans for how to not get questioned by police?"

I have a question for anyone living in the UK: how's surveillance like? Are there cameras on every corner, like what we see in London? Or is that only the major cities? And what about our town?
>>
>>27046865
Guess that idea of getting Masami to ask Louie out for the Dance is a bust; we don't want to get Esther into conflict with Masami.
Especially if Esther has powers of her own.
>>
>>27047046
((I saw a statistic a while back stating that the UK has the most surveillance cameras per head of population of any country in the world. It's a somewhat misleading figure, though, because big cities like London throw the figures off, as do big banks and so on. Where an American business would hire an armed security firm, a British business plasters every available surface in CCTV, and in Inner London I suspect one could probably walk for miles without ever being out of view of a camera. Outside of those two situations, there's no more CCTV than most other countries, and generally a small, quiet town that doesn't have any significant crime problems will be pretty lacking in CCTV. British police tend to be a lot less militarised than American police, so there's not so much of the 'small-town sheriff' stereotype. Well, not *so* much.))
>>
>>27047046
i dont live in england but i know its one of the countries public surveillance is most widely used.
for our town in this game, i think there shouldnt be much surveillance. it is a small town, so a few traffic cameras around town center, and regular security cameras for atm's and shops and such.

>>27047405
"No, no, that's all right, Louie. That was fine. You did very well." He smiles at the praise, and seems to calm down a little bit.

"I think I understand, Esther. I did have one question, though. Has Ajani thought through the issue of stuff like CCTV or camera-phones? It's one thing to take down walking corpses that are already listed as dead, but what if someone calls the police or uploads something to YouTube? What if he hurts someone like Zack, who's just another person - does he have any plans for dealing with the police?"

Esther blinks for a moment, then starts talking slightly slower. "Chris, think for a moment. The police do nothing about fraud by bankers, the lies of the rich or famous or connected. The recent arrests of actors? Nothing was done for decades until the papers started publishing, and what paper is going to run a story on vampires and werewolves? You already know one werewolf attack was deemed an animal attack, and you have seen the wounds a werewolf can cause. Do you think they are easily mistaken for wounds caused by wild dogs? And there have been enough walking corpses for the police to have noticed them by now. They do nothing, and they will continue to do nothing. There are too many competing factions at work locally for them to be bribed or pushed into acting in any specific direction, and they will certainly not act out of any particular principle. Besides, what would they report? The walking dead? Vampires and werewolves?"

"Okay, but what about Zack? If Ajani does end up killing him, won't there be consequences?"

Esther frowns. "It will not come to such measures. But if it did... yes, there would be complications. I would doubtless end up being required to pull in favours with some unpleasant people to make the whole business go away. It is one of the reasons I have been attempting to advise Ajani towards caution."

((Cont.))
>>
>>27048092
“Well, I guess that’s everything I wanted to ask you about right now. Uh, if I have any other questions, is there anywhere I can find you?”

Esther rummages through her pockets, eventually handing you something that looks very much like a business card. “My email and mobile, should you need to contact me further. Try not to lose the card. Now, I recommend you leave before Ajani and Gloria begin shouting, at which point those remaining will probably be ejected. Also, it is nearly time for your next lesson.”

You check your watch – she’s right, lunch is virtually over already. You hurry over to R.E., which is currently being taught by one of the other History teachers, Mr Roberts, while Mr Miller is still ill. Sit next to Masami, say hello to Isabella, but do not talk about any of our plans or friends while there. It's probably too late to change seats if half the class is already here.

Also, Esther just said that the police covered up Zack's attack as done by wild dogs. If Ajani was caught on-camera assaulting zombies or vampires, the police would arrest him as 'a teenage hoodlum beating innocent citizens'. It helps the police force's numbers that way. None of the reports would mention vampires, zombies, or werewolves to still end up with Ajani arrested.
She even goes on to say that killing someone who is still in the system, a werewolf like Zack, would have consequences. So why wouldn't the same apply to vampires and ghouls who are also still in the system?

Well, Isabella did move across almost the entire classroom to sit next to you today. You might as well at least talk to her. You sit down in your usual seat, giving Isabella a nod as you do. "Afternoon, Belle. It's been a while since we last had a chat, hasn't it?"

On closer inspection, she looks... odd. Not like her normal self. Isabella has always tried to cultivate an airbrushed look, lathering on make-up and chemicals to match the photoshopped girls in the magazines, but now she looks almost like a normal person. She's visibly tired - there are bags under her eyes. And her skin is pale enough that it's slightly palllid.

Her personality is apparently just as healthy as ever, though (assuming 'healthy' was ever a word that could be applied to Isabella's personality). She gives you a sickly sweet and obviously artificial smile. Her pale cheeks make it look even more disturbing than usual.

"Far too long, Christopher dear. And don't call me Belle. I understand you've been having such a busy few weeks. I do hope that won't turn out to have affected our project, yes?"

"You don't need to worry about that. My grades are depending on that project just as much as yours, and I can't rely on seducing a teacher to bump them up."

Isabella's face wrinkles up in digust. "Seduce Mr Coombs? You must be joking. Unlike certain persons I could mention, I have standards."

She leans in, grinning. "Besides, a little bird tells me that option isn't as far out of your reach as you claim."

You try your best to keep your face flat and impassive, and she scowls. "Yes, yes, be that way. In the end, we're both devoted to joy and pleasure. The difference is that I'm not a hypocrite about it."

"And all your followers and hangers-on? Did they choose that pleasure, too? They didn't seem to have much free will."

"Every one of them got exactly what they wanted," Isabella snarls. "It's not my problem if they didn't think things through."

Anything else you want to say to Isabella?

"Well, I guess I pity them. And this argument is something of a pity, too - you're right, we do have quite a bit in common. And yet we can't manage to see eye to eye at all."

Isabella turns her head carefully, staring straight into your eyes. You blink first - for a moment, you almost thought that... no, that would be ridiculous, even for the weird things you've seen so far. Isabella *must* have eyes. You'd be able to tell if she didn't.

"We could be perfectly capable of seeing eye to eye," she finally responds. There's almost a note of sadness in her voice. "A little help from me is worth quite a lot to you, and my prices are very much negotiable. We could get along so much better than we do, and yet you insist on these jibes, these self-centred attempts at 'morals'. The gap between us is not of my making."

This is very much unlike Isabella. "Are you sure you're feeling all right? You sound odd, and you're not looking too well. Is something wrong?"

Quick as a flash, Isabella is back to her old self, giggling and waving her hand in a coy manner. "Oh, Chris, don't be silly. The au natural look is coming back in, and I simply have to be a trendsetter. It's simply a case of the sacrifices one makes for fashion." She giggles again.

"Trendsetter, huh? I guess you're getting bored of your followers, too. Is that why you're exploring tentacle sex now?"

As Isabella's expression suddenly changes drastically, you reflect that you don't think you've ever seen her truly angry before. Annoyed, acting offended, tearing down a victim, sure. But none of them compare to the dark, brutal anger that flashes across her features. Her coy mannerisms are completely gone, and she glares straight at you, her voice flat and hard. "You have no idea what you're talking about. You have no idea what's coming. Wise up fast. You always were an immature idiot, but the time for that is rapidly disappearing."

Guys, is it just me or is this implying that she had like a crush, or something [like her considering us her friend], on us and was waiting for us to grow up/approach her?

Certainly otherwise I think she may be subtly trying to tell us to stop whatever is coming.

"Well, I did sort of plan to hang out with a few friends of mine, but-"

Masami's face instantly falls. "W-well, that's fine, you don't have to-"

"No, wait, let me finish. I'd love to come and watch some shows with you, but would it be okay if a few other friends came along as well?"

Masami blushes. "I-it wasn't meant to be a date or anything. Just as long as you're coming around to see me, and not just so you have somewhere to hang out with your friends..."

"No, I mean it, I'd love to watch some cartoons with you. What sort of shows were you thinking of?"

Masami looks off into the distance, checking things off on her fingers. "Well, you don't have time to marathon one of my longer shows, and that one and that one aren't really good introductions... there's... oh, wait." She blushes suddenly, turning to you. "I might have to check which of my shows I actually have an English version of. But there's a few manga I've been reading that have nice adaptations, there's classics like Baccano!, if you like big action sequences and mecha I've got Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Big O and FMP, there's always Evangelion if you don't mind the blood... it depends what you want to watch, really. I don't mind watching boys' shows if I'm watching them with friends."

You smile, gently touching Masami's hands. "It sounds like you've got quite a lot of shows. Is it all action stuff, then?"

"Oh, no, but, well, I figured you wouldn't be interested in my silly romance stuff..."

"I'm probably going to be bringing Jill and Avril along tonight, okay? We'll all have a look together and see what we can find. Although for now, we should probably focus on the lesson."

Once the lesson's done, you pack up quickly, telling Masami that you'll need to go find Jill and Avril and talk to them before you can come see her. Isabella's waiting by the door as you file out. She waves briefly to you and says "So long, Chris", then turns and leaves.

Well, that wasn’t ominous at all. You’re starting to doubt Avril’s prediction. Still, you find the two of them easily enough.

“So, uh, Masami has a massive collection of anime and she’d like us to come round and watch some shows with her. Does that sound like a nice way to spend an evening?”

Avril looks curiously at you. “I know you wanted me to get on better with Masami, but... what’s ‘anime’?”

You and Jill both goggle at her, then each take one arm and lift her to her feet. “Right,” says Jill, “you’re definitely coming with us. What sort of shows does she have, Chris?”

“Uh, she mostly mentioned mecha stuff to me, but she reckoned her romantic stuff wouldn’t be interesting to me. And it’ll probably all be in Japanese with subtitles.”

Avril blinks. “Japanese with... are these those Japanese cartoon things with the robots and the weird hair colours?”

Jill lifts one finger to prod Avril’s bright green hair, and keeps dragging her along. Masami is waiting by one of the school gates, and gives the three of you an enthusiastic hug as soon as you reach her. Her place turns out to be a small flat about ten minutes’ walk from the school - it’s quite spartan inside, except for the computer, the television and DVD player, and the several shelves of DVDs next to them. Jill and Masami start looking through them. “No, maybe, yes, I don’t even know this one, no, yes...” Jill methodically scans through the titles, picking out anything of interest, while Masami carefully selects a small stack.

Avril glances over the shelves, goes straight for the ones at the very top, and Masami suddenly goes pale.

“Uh, no, you don’t want any of those. Very boring, all in Japanese, nothing interesting there. Really, uh, just... leave those. Please?”

Avril sighs. “Fine, no porn. Spoilsport. Chris, you’re probably going to end up as the tiebreaker, so what sort of thing do you want to watch?”

[]Action. Explosions, fighting, robots, the works.
[]Something romantic. Young love, school drama – a bit close to home, but relatable.
[]Plot over genre. Pick something classic with a story, something to persuade Avril that these aren’t just cartoons.
[]Embarrass Masami and grab something from the top shelf

Avril's right - Jill and Masami quickly begin bickering over the respective merits of various series. You scan your eyes over the shelves, then reach past them both and pluck a small box set of white DVD cases with multicoloured titles off the nearest shelf.

"How about this one? Romance, action, drama, plot. It ought to cover all the bases, right?" Jill takes the box from you, glancing curiously over the description. "Huh. I don't know why I haven't heard of this before. Masami, what do you think of it?"

"Uh..." Masami blushes. "I really like the romance parts, and the sword fights are really dramatic and well-drawn. It kind of, um..." She glances at Jill and Avril, thinks for a moment, and shakes her head. "Never mind. It'll be fine."

You all settle down, Avril somehow managing to manuveur things so that you and Jill are on either side of her, with Masami on your other side.

Avril watches the first couple of episodes with growing interest, while Jill happily snuggles down against her. She does eventually raise one complaint, though.

"Shouldn't there be a few more teachers at this school? I mean, the lessons may be boring compared to the duels, but it still seems odd."

"No, no," Masami sighs. "It's not like real life. You only have room to describe the people who're important. There are other teachers, but you can't see them."

"Oh, okay," Avril shrugs, pulling Jill in a little closer. "I wonder if any of the invisible teachers are hot."

"Oh, um, that reminds me - Chris, what did Isabella mean?"

You try not to freeze. "Uh - what? I mean -"

"About sleeping with teachers. She said something about you sleeping with teachers, but I didn't understand what she meant."

The temperature in the room metaphorically drops several degrees, and on the other side of Avril you can hear Jill get to her feet.

"Chris", she asks in a dangerous tone. "Why don't you tell me some more about what you and Avril have been doing with my aunt in those private lessons?"

Christ, we walked into that one. I picture you cackling quietly to yourself, MH, and I know in my gut that we deserved it.

We can't flat out deny it, Avril will have to tell the truth. I doubt we can spin it, and frankly we are kind of in the wrong. Our best argument, I feel, is that while Miranda is fun, Jill is our romantic interest: we aren't asking Miranda to the dance, after all. Also, there's the fact that Jill got involved with Avril and us knowing that we were fine with seeing other people. Not that I expect any of that to help right now- this is an emotional thing, and I doubt even convincing arguments will have much sway. I only hope we don't get Carrie'd to death before Jill calms down- if she ever calms dow

"Jill, I'm not going to make excuses. You know that Avril and you and I, we're in an open relationship, a romantic one, I'm hoping. And we make a distinction between romance, and pleasure.

Well you see, Jill...Have you ever met a girl that you tried to date, But a year to make love she wanted you to wait
Let me tell ya a story of my situation
I was talkin' to this girl from the U.S. nation
The way that I met her was on tour at a concert
She had long hair and a short miniskirt
I just got onstage drippin', pourin' with sweat
I was walkin' through the crowd and gues who I met
I whispered in her ear, "Come to the picture booth
So I can ask you some questions to see if you are a hundred proof"
I asked her her name, she said blah-blah-blah
She had 9/10 pants and a very big bra
I took a couple of flicks and she was enthused
I said, "How do you like the show?"
She said, "I was very amused"
I started throwin' bass, she started throwin' back mid-range
But when I sprung the question, she acted kind of strange
Then when I asked, "Do ya have a man," she tried to pretend
She said, "No I don't, I only have a friend"
Come on, I'm not even goin' for it
This is what I'm goin' sing

"Okay, I'll tell you everything." You glance over at Masami. "Should Masami stay, or do you want this private between the three of us?"

Jill growls. "Well, apparently she already knows more than I do. So make with the telling already. Avril, what's been going on?"

Avril glances between you and Jill, clearly terrified. "Well, um... you see, the thing is..." She stammers for a little, and you step forward.

"Jill, I'm not going to try and make excuses. You know that Avril and you and I are in an open relationship, and that's a romantic relationship. But, well, the Fae make a distinction between romance and pleasure."

"So..." You take a deep breath. "Yes, we had sex with your aunt. No magic or mind control involved, just two consenting adults sharing some pleasure. But I don't consider her a romantic partner, not like you or Avril. I like your aunt, but I love you and Avril."

You slowly take a step forward, and wrap your arms around Jill. Avril follows suit, and Jill begins to sob slowly into your arms, clutching the two of you tightly.

Jill stays like that, hugging you both and crying, for quite a while. You and Avril hold her quietly, stroking her hair and trying to reassure her. After about half an hour she finally stops clinging to you, and takes a step back. Her eyes are still damp, but the tears have stopped flowing, and she manages to croak out words.

"You... you really love me?"

"Of course," you reply, opening your arms and offering her another hug. Jill practically throws herself into your arms, hugging you tight again, and Avril comes round to hug her from behind, kissing her hair and whispering that she loves Jill too.

"I - I - Okay. I still don't like it, but... this is just how Fae are, isn't it? It's always going to be like this." She sobs a little more. "I don't like it, but I suppose I have to accept it."

Avril keeps stroking Jill's hair. "Sweetie, don't worry. We love you. We would never leave you. It was just some sex, that's all. It didn't mean anything."

Jill stiffens a little. "And what about me? Does sex with me not mean anything either?"

"Of course it means something, sweetie, but it means something *because* we love you."

Jill sighs, nuzzling your chest. "But I... I just..."

She sighs, clutching you against her again. "Okay. Prove it. Right now. All of us, together."

Masami shrinks into a corner of the room and tries to stay very quiet as Jill starts to undo her blouse. "Come on. Don't I mean more to you than she does? Don't you want me?" She grabs you by the hair and kisses you forcefully, but when she breaks away, she doesn't meet your eyes. "F.... fuck me, damn it."

Avril is already starting to undress, but stops when she notices the conflicted expression on your face. "Uh, Chris? Is something wrong? What do you think?"

See, I can understand the White Knighting reasoning, and it makes sense. Jill IS emotionally vulnerable right now, it's not fitting with most Human standards of morality (Fae morality that Avril operates under say she gave verbal consent and that's all that's needed).

However, I also understand the other side. Jill is emotionally vulnerable, and she wants reassurance that we will put our money where our mouth is by having sex with her just like we did with Miranda. We JUST said that sex with Miranda is because it's fun while sex with Jill is because we love her, and she wants us to prove it. Not doing it means that we're full of shit.

It's a very difficult decision because it really could go either way.

HO-

okay that was bad, but yea, I can see both arguments, but right now?
