You look over at the clock with dread. Tonight, you will once again be meeting Mary Jane Watson. In your history with the girl, she is the ultimate bully. She beat you up, took your lunch money, kiked sand in your face, you name it. There was also the spaghetti incident…

You shake your head and let out a sigh.

It does help that you had trouble sleeping last night, so worried over Gwen’s utter block out of you for the past few days. Was it because she saw you with Black Cat? Is she upset because her dad was made to look bad in the papers? Maybe its just becasue she can't talk to you after you confessed to her?

Man, can things get any worse?

Today you…

Wipe our minds a bit. Maybe watch some bad sci-fi movies or something to get ideas for gadgets. Working on things clearly isn't helping us take our minds off things and it's leading to wasted materials.

And we need to call Eddie because... well I've just got a bad feeling.

After reading the massive argument over the future use of Spectacular points and what looked like a consensus to only use them to counteract Parker Luck. I feel I have to point something out.

Right now, Parker Luck doesn't do anything. It only applies to Major Enemies, and we don't have any, and there are long term goals in making sure some of our more dangerous rogues don't even exist. More importantly, Parker Luck doesn't give villains a general buff. As per the example, Parker Luck only seems to increase a villain's capacity to intrude on our life as Peter Parker. So while we should work on keeping Parker Luck low, there is currently no reason to keep pushing PL to 0 at every opportunity. Especially with the rolling system we use.

A 1-2 bonus on rolls for finding out our secret identity and intruding on our non superhero life isn't really that significant, yeah it's 10% statistically, but if they had enough bonuses for that 1-2 bonus to make that much of a difference, then it being at 0 is not going to represent that much of a safety net to make the cost of a Spectacular point worth it. The only time it's worth it is if at 0 it is impossible for a villain to find us, and that's not been proven (again, no major villains). Outside of that, working on keeping it less than 5 and holding on to Spectacular points for meeting goals, or once we start seeing heavy combat for the potential "dodge fate" power, is a better move in terms of play.

It just seems both boring and lazy to use this resource to just ignore the system's risk.

One thing we can do to lessen our Rogues gallery is have a Frank and Adult conversation with our symbiont when we find out it's piloting us, instead of freaking it out and ripping it off.
>>

>>
>>27034915
Yeah, I can agree with this sentiment. Besides, the watcher knows we're still going to screw up and put our Parker Luck to the test at some point.
>>
>>27035031
Because our dad made it.
>>
>>27034993
Yes, that was exactly what I was talking about. Planning on befriending the Symbiote will take Venom out of the equation, and Venom is a powerhouse as far as my understanding of Spidey's rogues go. I'm also pretty sure that taking Venom out takes out most of the other symbiotes in the canon which shrinks the pool further.

>>27035052
Wait did Cos state this last time right before the thread was purged? Because I can't recall anywhere Cos made a definitive statement about the Symbiote's origins.
>>
>>27035052
Dude if that's the case then no-go.

Ultimate Symbiote is evil as shit.
>>
>>27035083
He hasn't. The only question he has really answered was that most people do not believe mutants do not exist and even Charles Xavier states, and I am paraphrasing here, he was so hopped up on acid it being the 60s and all that him stating there are mutants was just drug induced craziness. The drug part maybe my own head canon, but he did say the 60s were a crazy time.
>>
>>27035136
He said that the idea that mutants exist is as absurd as the idea that there was a real Captain America, and not just propaganda for the allies.

So... take what you will from that.
>>
>>27035052
If thats true, here are some wise words from the internet. "KILL IT WITH FIRE!"
>>
>>27035126
And Ultimate is sort of the same.

The implication so far is that supers haven't really hit public awareness level.

>>
>>27035230
Arguably we already have. People don't know our web-slingers are technological after all.

Since we and the mutants are still in school......there is a possiblity that we might bump into them "aciddently" during a fieldtrip or something like that.

I'm thinking this, but maybe a bit brighter?

Why not start at the top.
>>
>>27035600
Could Gwen be Black Cat? It would explain knowing the situation with JJJ, and the disguise quality. She's also been hiding her real physical build and is a talented costume maker. It explains the wig, and the whole thing can be either teenage rebellion or an attempt to get press for the cops (even if they fail to catch her).

Just a thought. Possibly nonsense, but so was Keigo!Aizen.
>>

...Black Cat's been operating long before the spider-bite.
>>
>>27035698

Black cat is probably felix. Not too sure. But it fits. The nandages could be from cybernetic surgery.

>>27035752
I was thinking the bandages were just a convenient way of hiding the results of certain hormonal treatments.
>>
Well I'm going to bed for tonight. I;ll read up on everything in the morning. Keep our loved ones save from the Carnage /tg/.
>>
>>27035698

But wouldn't she not been surprised to see us?
>>
>>27035712
Via superpowers or inside knowledge?

Reverse trap is fine too, but my spider sense is tingling. Especially considering Peter's fear that Gwen found out about the kiss. Irony setup.
>>
>>27035686
Also something may need to be done about the shoes.

I mean we can spider-grip things through our gloves, but if it's shoes we just... really keep those shoes on our feet.

Maybe if we really thin the soles out, until they're about as thick as our gloves?

Not much point to wearing shoes, but walking on walls is more important that arch support.
>>
>>27035778
The real question is what is she up to that requires her to spend most of her time disguised as an infirm boy?

>>
>>27035843

>Felix's Hot Older Sister.
...
HEY. Let's call our buddy Felix and see if he's doing any better, and if not wish him well
>>
>>27035864
I think his dad said he'd call us.
>>
>>27035813
>via superpowers or inside knowledge?
Both I'd expect. The black cat already had established a solid reputation for doing the impossible long before we got bit. As for Peter fear, I'm pretty sure it got pulled from the paranoid speculation of /tg/. Not saying you're wrong (I'd certainly be amused if Cosgrove's planning something along the lines your thinking), just that you migh twang to temper those hopes.
>>
>>27035843
Ou forgot galactus, Aunt May, reverse gender parker clone, future badend timeline mary jane, wolverine in somone elses body, and the psychic projection of professor x.
>>
>>27035829

She doesn't. It's just her cover she uses when not stealing shit. Very useful when needing to lay low after a heist.
>>
>>27035864
Didn't his dad basically say "Felix is really sick right now, I'll call you when he's stable enough for visitors"? I think we might want to give Fefe a bit of room to recover and get his feet back under him before we try to make contact.
>>
>>27035933
What, you think those notes we looked through were just forged?

That's a bold assumption.

Especially since A: no one really knows Felix Hardy exists, and B: due to his apparent reclusive nature, he's rubbish as an alibi.
>>
>>27035843
Pretty sure we established that the Black Cat steals thinks because she loves making a living that way, not because she's in desperate need of cash. Given all the pageantry she sets up around a heist I don't think that should be particularly surprising.
>>
>>27035994
And yet it is corroborated by medical and academic records. There is no way Mr. hardy is physically capable for performing any of the rigorous activities associated with the black cat. Not the worst cover as these things go.
>>
>>27035813
Ya that would be kind of funny...
>>
>>27035994
Felix isnt an alibi because black cat doesn't need an alibi.
Shes in a kind of disguise on the job.
The only way to link her to a crime would be to catch her or obtain hard evidence.
Felix being a recluce actually works in her advantage because noone ever notices if he's not there or is acting suspicious. Plus he has an excellent excuse for leaving for long stretches of time.
>>
>>27036121
Plus the whole felix the cat pun.
I'd wager the reason we don't have a study session with felix is because felicia is trying to find spiderman.
Which is really ironic when you think about it.
Too bad she rolled so poorly, we might have woken up with a cat in our lap.

>[ ]Talked with Eddie

You talked with Eddie Brock, your old friend you reconnected with recently. He’s a reporter for the Daily Bugle. Last you saw him, he took a picture of you during your Capture of the Black Cat as ‘Spider-man.’ As he promised, he called you today and you ended up talking with him for a little while.

Seems like his church just got a new member to it, a man named Cletus Cassidy, though Eddie has yet to meet him. Could he be that man you met yesterday?

Regardless, though he couldn’t talk about it he’s currently investigating three different cases, one just given to him by his boss, J Jonah Jameson. Seems like he’s keeping busy, though it seemed like he was a bit under the weather.

Still, it had been a nice distraction talking to him, all things considered. Talking with an old friend seems to brighten his mood as the two of you talked about the past and he laughed at the fact Mary Jane Watson was returning to town. He jokingly promised to speak of how terribly you went out in her hands at your funeral and that the secrets of that incident would never be repeated to another person, so long as he lived.

Eventually he had to go as his girlfriend was calling and your talk with him came to an end. You spent the rest of the day adjusting Felix’s tutoring schedule and keeping up to date on your schoolwork, with some studying in the meantime.

But, as always, all good things must come to an end. Its approaching evening and you promised Aunt May that you’d spend some time with Mary Jane Watson tonight.

…Joy.

Still, you should probably get ready.

>[ ]Eh, what I’ve got on is good.

You look at what you’re wearing. You’ve got on loose jeans and a long sleeved shirt. You get up and freshened yourself up a bit, but what you’ve got on is good. You weren’t told to dress nicely and you really don’t want to dress up for Mary Jane Watson, either. Furthermore, if you dressed up weird to freak her out, she might try to beat you up.

Not likely, but y’know… past history.

You head downstairs and nod at Aunt May, who raises an eyebrow at your apparel as you shrug. She lets out a sigh and shakes her head as the two of your go over to Anna Watson’s house. Minutes later, you’re let into the house. Anna Watson looks a bit disheveled as she tries to look cheerful.

“Ah, May, Peter. Sorry, Mary Jane’s being a bit… difficult.”

She looks at you and gives a weak smile. “Peter, you’re an old friend of hers, right? Maybe she’d relax at a familiar face. Would you mind going to get her?”

They want you to go to the pit that keeps the beast of hell contained and bring it out?

"You know what, sure"

Screw being afraid. There is nothing this girl can do to us that we can't dodge...and it's incredibly unlikely that she'll pull Black Cat's tactics against us. We go in there, and be confident and I afraid of our old tormentor. If we need to be verbally adversarial if she snaps at us first, then so be it. We all but blackmailed the stingiest newspaper man in manhattan into giving us our promised cut. We've for this and won't let this black hearted fiend intimidate us!

(We are not braced for her to be crying or "hey there, tiger". We go in ready for war, and get blindsided by charm or emotions)

We can use our own face as a mask and still be confident. And it's not like we have any interest in her anyway. We can totally blow her off. Besides, we've got the Cat to think about. What does some bitchy chick we don't even like have that can compare with her?

You know what? You aren’t going to be afraid of a childhood bully. If she tries to reestablish that status quo, she’s got another thing coming. He pulled one over on old soupuss Jameson and got your money and she’s no Black Cat. So, really, what do you have to be afraid of?

Nothing.

You nod at Anna Watson and start walking towards the stairs before pausing and looking back. “…Which room was she?”

“Top of the stairs, second door on the left, dear.”

You nod and continue on forward, spider sense tingling. Mary Jane wants to be the end of you happy world? Well, tonight you are canceling the apocalypse!

The voice is feminine and sounds annoyed. There’s no light coming from beneath the door at a glance.

>Morse code

You frown at her tone. What a brat! How old is she again? Shrugging, you begin to knock on the door again, this time using Morse code.

----”What a brat.”----

There’s silence on the other end as your spider sense continues to tingle. Maybe its just nervousness ingrained into you. But after a few seconds, the door cracks open.

The room’s dark ,except for the illumination from a screen either a tv or computer- you can’t tell from here. At the door is a mess of unkept red hair- unlike Gwen’s intent messiness, this looks failty- the result of someone who does not take care of themselves, it looks darker and dirty, greasy. A green eyes stares at you, ringed with dark circles, it looks both nervous and indignant- like the person is judging you.

As she stares at you, you feel your spider sense still go off, this girl bothers you.

The girl looks at you with the same look before recognition seems to set in her eyes seconds later, her mouth open as if she was going to say something until before it slams shut, just like she plans to do to her door.

>[ ]Put your foot in, stop her from closing the door

You put your foot into the doorway, frowning. The door slams into your foot, again and again, but it only hurts a little bit as she stares at you with that you think might be horror. “Hey, this is really rude behaviour, you know? After all, our Aunts put a lot of effort into things, so the least you can do is make an appearance, alright?”

Her stares at you before looking at your foot, uncrushed by the door’s dark and terrible powers, before looking at you again. As you stare at her, your spider-sense undoubtedly responding to your years of trauma and not the reality. After all, looking at this girl… she’s defiantly unnerving, but she doesn’t seem all that threatening.

“…fne”

She nudges your foot out of the door and closes it. You see the light turn on from the door and the sounds of movement. A few minutes later, the door opens and, her head covered by a the hood of her sweatshirt, she gives you a look with her one visible eye and starts making her way downstairs, a gaming device in her hands.

As you follow her downstairs, you can’t help but wonder. The girl who tormented you-the demon who tormented you for all those years- turned into this. It’s almost… disappointing?

You shrug and when you reach the living room, both of yours aunts smile at the both of you. “Well, isn’t that lovely? Peter, would you mind showing Mary Jane around the neighborhood and treating her to dinner?”

You Spider Sense is still bothering you.

“This is starting to sound like you’re setting us up on a date or something.”

Aunt May and Anna Watson give you a too-innocent look as they exchange glances, trying to look skeptical before looking back at the both of you. “Wellllll, I suppose it /could/ be seen like that, Peter.”

Your look becomes more deadpan and she lets out a sigh, looking at you sadly.

“Alright, fine. That’s exactly what it was, Peter.

“Still, you can’t help it if your Aunt worries bout you, can you? I’ve seen you moping around recently, like a heartbroken teenager and I thought that from what I remember you always did spend time with Mary Jane when you were younger, even if you two did… roughhouse a bit. Even if you didn't work out, it'd be nice to see you have another friend, you always spend your time worknig or studying- never out enjoying yourself.

“Still, I won’t force you to take Mary Jane out if you don’t want to Peter. I didn’t mean to upset you.”

Your Aunt gives you a sad, apologetic look.

We take her to the arcade where we're meeting Harry at, explain the bullshit situation we've been pulled into, and salvage our night as best we can.

Then we abuse our Spider Powers a little and trounce MJ at some of the arcade game we challenge her to. Lose here and there to help make the act convincing; we don't want her to think we have some kind of unfair advantage, like limited precognition or something.

That's only possible when you're showing obvious signs of being physically assaulted. Taking someone's lunch money or calling them a fag doesn't leave a bruise, dude. There's no way for parents to find out about that sort of shit if the kid doesn't tell them anything.

As someone who was bullied verbally for quite a few of my teenage years, I can honestly say that my parents barely noticed any of it because I simply didn't fucking tell them anything.

You glance over at Mary Jane, who seems to be about as miserable as you are by the glance she shoots you. You look over at your Aunt and Anna Watson before letting out a sigh.

“…Fine. But it is /not/ a date.”

You emphasize the fact and then look over at the game Mary Jane is holding onto. “I’ll show her around. You ready?”

Mary Jane gives you a long look before shrugging, the look over indifference and spite which you think might be her normal look, on her face.

You head out the door, waving to your aunt.

Online gaming became more popular. You could play against others without having to leave the comfort of your stench-hole of a room.

See, while Japan does do online gaming, they're very social creatures, so online gaming isn't as widespread as it is in America. Arcades thrive in Japan because there are plenty of people that WANT to get out of the house, and play some games with or against some people they may or may not know.

There’s that arcade you visited yesterday with Harry not far from your house. Even if you’d rather not spend time with this girl, it’d be better to do something you both might enjoy than be abjectly miserable.

Even if her very presence is oppressive to you, your spider sense at a low hum.

You arrive at Dillon’s Arcade, the arcade you’ve gone to for years. It’s been on the decline lately, but that’s just how things go, you guess. Hell, they don’t even have that Virtual-On machine anymore.

You walk in and look around. It seems a bit busy today, but there’s a few machines free.

>Opposed roll! MJ-9, you-…natural one!
>AUTOMATIC FAILURE
>PARKER LUCK INCREASES BY ONE

You challenge her to the new DC vs. CAPCOM- FATE OF FIFTY TWO WORLDS that Dillon’s Arcade just got in. You managed to school Harry at it, so hopefully things should go well.

You pick a good character- Superman and she picks… Doomsday. You put your gaming mettle to the test…

And you are defeated. Again and again. No matter the character choice- she’s better. When, at last, you admit defeat, you look over at her to see her look amused for a moment before it’s gone, back under the indifference and scorn. Then again, having that damned sixth sense continuously go off didn’t help any.

“…..lsr…..”

You give her a look ,as you swore she said something.

Your eyebrow twitches in annoyance. “Well, how about we try Dance, Dance Revolution, then? You up for it?”

She gives you the neutral shrug as she has been doing and approaches the machine, taking the left spot on the machine while you take the right. You start off terribly, but very quickly find your tempo and start doing well. The song is hard, fast and difficult, but when the score totals come up at the end….

You won.

YOU WON!

You look over at Mary Jane who seems to be glaring at you, her eye narrowing before she mutters something so quietly you can’t hear her. She then turns around and walks off.

You watch her storm off. As she walks away, your Spider-sense’s buzzing goes away. When she’s gone, its quiet. Well, she can cool off for a few minutes, you can get yourself something to eat.

You buy a hotdog and some fries and munch on them, scanning the area. By the time you’re done, you don’t spot anyone you know- including Mary Jane.

You take a quick look around the arcade, but she’s nowhere to be found. Maybe she’s in the bathroom? You wait around for a few more minutes, but still nothing. You go and ask the proprietor, Maxwell, is he’d seen Mary Jane.

The man, in his thirties pauses and nods. “Yeah, she left a little while ago.”

Well, crap.

It's an unrealistic and unhealthy fantasy that, while an understandable variation on men's natural instincts to protect women, is absolutely fucking retarded and shouldn't be indulged. You take out your phone and call Anna Watson’s house. After a few rings, the phone picks up with Ana Watson’s tone. “Hello?”

“Hi, Ms Watson, did Mary Jane make it home? She kinda stormed out.”

“No, she hasn’t.”

You let out a sigh at Anna Watson’s worried tone. “…I’ll go look for her, alright?”

After a few more moments, you end the call.

Time to go look for a shut-in girl who has issues. Who also was the girl who tormented you growing up.

>>
>>27050018
This sounds fairly like Oglaf
>>
>>27049941
Doing what is logical all the time makes for a boring story. Going after MJ gives us conflict within the story, and potentially puts us in a position to discover the serial killer that just showed up.

Or do you think Carnage showing up when he did was a red herring?
>>
>>27050044
And acting like we have to save the world from itself all the time is going to get annoying, qick.

But I know we're going to go and search for her anyways, because she's a GURL, and thus, totally useless without a man to keep her safe.

I'd laugh if it turned out she just decided to go to McDonalds and our help was totally unneeded.
>>
>>27050040
No, the closest Oglaf has is the guy going to rescue the girl, then leaving her to her fate because she wasn't a princess.

I got it, it's one if the ongoings from Titty Time on slipshine, several known webcomic artists have erotic/sexpositive comics on there, but if memory serves its a subscription site.
>>
>>27050021
Oh no, I'm just saying that she's carrying a load of anger you wouldn't believe and doesn't necessarily want to think right now. Not justifying her being a bitch, she's old enough to be able to suppress that shit in public. Just providing context for bad decisions on her part.
>>
>>27050103
Titty Time! Yes, the princess turned out to be a little cunt and said she was going to turn the dragon into a pair of boots. So the knight slipped out while she was bitching and pretty much said 'uuuh, wanna get out of here?'

They rode off into the sunset.
>>
>>27049941
If nothing happens, then the worst we've done is made someone who clearly doesn't like us dislike us a little more, no skin off our back, and we've got a pair of old ladies back home who will be nervous if MJ is out wandering alone in any case.

If something DOES happen, it'll be a damn good thing your friendly neighborhood totally-just-a-regular-highschool-student-and-not-Spiderman was there to help. Sure nobody would really blame us, but just because nobody blames you doesn't make inaction the right choice.

If we don't look for her at all and something happens, then GUILT LEVELS MAXIMUM because we could have stopped it and chose not to.

Ms Watson and Aunt May implicitly entrusted her to us. The least we can do is see her safely home before washing our hands of the matter.
>>
>>27050098
The only one making this about gender is you. Might want to check your own privilege.

>DC15, result 11- Failure

>Ask people to see if they’ve seen her
>DC16, result 19 - Success

You try looking around for her, but considering her hood was up and she was generally pretty quiet- it might be a bit hard to find her.

And it is- you don’t see her anywhere. You look around, but it doesn’t seem like she stopped in any of the shops or restaurants. However, you aren’t an idiot- you also decided to ask around and- finally- you get someone who mentions that they saw her looking around nervously and slipping into an alley- after that, the shop owner declared- it wasn’t his business to keep paying attention- kids can take care of themselves at that age.

You look down the alley that she allegedly went down.

That leads to a neighborhood you don’t want to be after night falls- and its late evening.
