The system:
http://pastebin.com/e3q4q0MP

Basic rules still apply (Grey Box): Roll d20: Highest dice roll out of the first three rolls is used for the Dice Check (DC), while all three rolls are averaged to determine other internal factors, if applicable. Natural 20’s and Critical Failures (1) supersede all other rolls made.

Roll d100: d100’s are used for different factors, the most applicable of which will be listed at the call for the roll. High is always better.

Rolling for Time: When asked to roll for time, the first roll response will be used, with additional rolls used as necessary. This is the only time low rolls are desired.

NewType powers, since they are plot breaking, will be based on a point system.
For every natural 20 you roll, you'll get .5 NTP. If you roll an 11 on a d20, it will be worth .25 of a NTP. Double rolls on a D100 will also garner .25 NTP.

You can exchange 1 NTP for an automatic critical success / plot breaking idea. You can also exchange 1 NTP to reduce an opposing main character's plot armor by 1/4 or 1/2 on any actions you take against them - the amount reduced will be situational, and depend on what you're planning on doing.

----------------
Current NTP Tally:

Bright Noah (Casval Rem Daikun) has 10.25 NTP!
Char Aznable has 13.5 NTP!
Amuro Ray has 3.5 NTP!

-------------------

Another hour passed, before Mohai called him up to report the Mobile Suits had returned from their training exercises. "Both Jean and Lourie report no issues with the machines, and that the group training went well. Ezra surprised Lourie a few times, and managed to paint the Triple twice. Jean requested further training tomorrow, before we pull out of Loum. Which brings up the issue of who's being left in charge while we're on the fake 'Nero'," Mohai said, evidence of some trepidation in his tone.
>>
>>26957859

"I've given some thought on that," Bright informed him.

"And? Who do I break the good news too?" Mohai asked.

>>Sensors Operator (Martha Vist Carbine)

"Considering the importance the communications blackout is going to be for a successful infiltration, I was planning to put Warrant Officer Carbine on as CO," Bright said, leaning back in his chair.

Mohai thought it over carefully, his hand straying to tug at the long hair he had since cut before he placed it back on the desk with an annoyed scowl. "Martha ought to do just fine, sir. She definitely has the experience necessary to keep the M particle density at peak levels. What about her XO?"

>>Navigator (Kayne Manning)

"Manning, I think."

Mohai nodded. "Solid choice. Pilots?"

"Leaning towards Seabooke, Hatzenbuehler, Olenius, and Pheonix. That will give us five pilots while still keeping a good home guard, as it were," Bright said, idly swirling the whisky in his glass.

"I'd recommend Tavolacci and Retersdorf for interim CO and XO of the Mobile Suit wings," Mohai said.

Bright chuckled. "That depends on my meeting with Ezra tomorrow morning. If Aron were a bit more responsible, I'd put him up for the XO slot. I'll let Chance decide if it becomes necessary."

"Very good sir. Shall I inform them now, or would you like it to be a surprise?"

"I'll surprise them," Bright said with a wry smile. "It keeps them on their toes."

They chatted for a few more moments before Mohai signed off, leaving Bright to his thoughts. He sipped at his drink, the watered down liquor surprisingly chill despite his neglect. Two small dots of ice were all that remained.

Bright set it aside again, and opened a note file. He typed the mission highlights and saved the file, forwarding a copy to the CIC computer for the briefing at 1000 hours tomorrow morning.

>Finish the Whisky?
[x] No

Bright moved to stand and dispose of the drink, but stumbled as a brief feeling of disorientation and nausea overtook him. He grabbed the desk and steadied himself, wondering what was wrong. Overwork? The lack of sleep finally catching up to him? Bright shook it off and made way to the head, pouring the remainder of the drink down the drain before stumbling back to his bunk, falling into bed still dressed as a heavy drowsiness dragged at him.

Vaguely, as if in a dream, he heard his door open. Foot falls, approaching. He fought against the feeling of drowsiness and managed to push himself up on one elbow, facing the door, and blearily called out "Who'z zhere?"

A soft tsk of annoyance was his only answer as the footsteps moved away from him, the door swishing closed. Bright's eyes came open, his vision unnaturally blurry, revealing an empty room. Had he forgotten to lock the door? Focusing on it, he saw the amber light that denoted the door lock was engaged. Huh. He collapsed back into bed, letting sleep overtake his senses.

Dreams plagued him, images of some past event forgotten, snippets of pain and terror:

By Zum Daikun's beard! It's Zum Daikun's beard.

>[X] Bright Noa
You think a little thing like being drugged is going to make Casval drop his act? Hell no. He's not even going to forget such minor details as whether there's an "h" in his cover's last name. He knows Bright's life as well as he knows his own, he's never going to slip up.

>[X] Justice
Once, when Casval was still just a scared little boy, he swore bloody vengeance on every last member of the Zabi line. He's matured since then, realized that walking that path would consume his soul. But that doesn't mean he'll let them get away with what they've done to his father's country. Garma and Dozle have somehow escaped the misfortune of their birth, but the rest of the Zabi clan have committed crimes too heinous to forgive. They transformed an egalitarian republic into a neo-feudal aristocracy, and twisted Zeon's philosophy to justify their actions. They need to be cast down so that the true vision of Spacenoid independence can be allowed to flourish.

>{X} THE ZEONIC WAY

A sudden memory of Zeon Daikun, his father, looming over him to sever his bonds and helping him out of the hard metal chair bolted to the center of the small room's floor. He was laid gently in a bed set off to the side, and his father reached for a first aide kit to tend his wounds, the smell of blood and chemicals tearing at his nose. "I'm sorry, son, for doing this. But you needed to know how these things work, or you could never defend against it. They can never know who you truly are. Always remember, I have faith in you..."

His door chimed, startling Bright awake. The sudden shift from sleep was jarring, his brain felt like it was in sideways. The door chimed again, the loud sound causing him to grimace, and he ran a hand over his face before slapping himself in the cheek a few times to force his brain into gear. At the third chime, he felt able enough to say "I'm awake, give me a minute," before climbing out of his bunk. His mouth felt like something had died in it.

He stumbled to the door and unlocked it, letting it open to reveal a surprised Ezra Retersdorf. "Yeah?" Bright managed.

"Sir, Corporal Retersdorf reporting. It's oh eight hundred, sir. I'm here for my 'dressing down'," She said quietly.

Bright nodded, beckoning her to enter. "Take a seat, and give me a minute," he said.

"Rough night, sir?"

Bright ran the cold tap in the head, splashing cold water on his face before answering, "Something like that." He toweled off, rinsed the empty glass on the sink, filled it with water and drank it quickly. Filling it again, he returned to the main room and sat behind his desk.

"Permission to speak freely, sir?"

Bright nodded.

She eyed him, noting the crumpled uniform and the haggard expression before saying, "You look like hell."
>>
>>26958400

Bright nodded again, before sipping at his water as a cover to put his thoughts in order. Ezra had fired a warning shot at Professor Felix Ceff of the Pezun Project in order to convince the man to keep his hands off her sister's recently recovered Zaku I Airborne. This was the same scientist who had saddled him with the possibility of exploding Zudahs and a Prototype Musai with no manual, and Bright had to admit he'd been tempted to shoot the man himself on more than one occasion. Ceff wasn't hit, and didn't seem to care one way or the other about the incident. However, this was a time of war, and proper discipline must be maintained.

>{X} Ask About Elsa Before Coming To Your Decision

"Tell me about your sister," Bright asked.

Ezra blinked. "What?" After enduring Bright's stare for a moment, she elaborated. "She's my sister. In Law. Or was." Ezra shifted in her seat, crossing her arms. "She was my brother's wife, and I loved her like the big sister I never had. How is this relevant?"

"You fired a warning shot at a man who is rated to do whatever he damn well pleases to any machine in any location he's in, for wanting to inspect her Zaku. I think it's incredibly relevant."

Ezra muttered something to herself before saying, "Like I said, she was my brother's wife. And after he died? She was mine."

"You married her?" Bright inferred.

"Yes. After Max died, I didn't want to lose my family to someone else. Didn't want to lose her to someone else. So I took a knee. And she accepted. And then we were drafted, and I lost her anyway," She said, pressing herself into the chair. "This damn war's taken everything from me. If I'm going to die, I'll do it in her Zak, in the way she left it. Sir."

Bright finished his water and set the glass on the table. "Thank you for telling me, Corporal."

She nodded. "Thanks for not making it an order. Not a lot of people approved of it, but in all due respect sir? Fuck them."

"I have one problem, however: That Zaku needs to be maintained." He held up a hand to forestall her as she moved to argue. "I'm not taking no for an answer. I understand your circumstances, and I will order the techs to leave the cockpit, and any individual markings or unit designations alone. We have to add the Blaze Falcon unit insignia, you realize, so find a spot to put it when you place it in on the maintenance slab."

She didn't look happy, but nodded.

"It is also my understanding, under the 'Spoils of War' articles, any material appropriated on the field can either be awarded to the finder, distributed amongst the unit, or otherwise allocated as the commanding officer sees fit," Bright said. He could see Ezra's interest being piqued despite her best efforts as he continued, "I was intending to place that unit under your sole command to begin with. Now, I'm going to give you a direct order."

"Sir?"

"Survive this damn war, and take that Zaku with you when you retire. You understand me?"

Ezra nodded, her lips pressed to a fine line. After a long moment, she managed to choke out, "I understand you, sir."

"Good. Now, I am appointing you as XO for the Siegfried's remaining pilot team, with Sergeant Tavolacci as your CO. Your punishment for discharging a weapon aboard ship is as follows: Pilot the Balls from the captured Salamis over to the Siegfried's repair bay and assist in their maintenance. Afterwards, return to your CO and get squared away with your new duties. Dismissed."
>>
Holy crap. Actually caught one of these in progress.

>other

"Since you've shown a lack of discipline in a combat zone that very well could have cost us a valuable personal asset. I must think of a suitable punishment now...

A beat.

"This is as hard as it is for me as it is for you.. three days designated to maintaining your Zaku. Any objections?

"Be sure not to miss next time.. "
>>
>>26959293

Ezra stood to attention, and snapped him the sharpest salute he had ever seen from the woman. Offering "Sir! Thank you, Sir!" before she turned about and left his office.

Considering that a job well done, Bright eyed the clock. 0835. He had enough time for a long shower and a change of clothes before the mission briefing scheduled at 1000 hours, and set about to do just that.
>>
>>26959305

Coming out of the shower feeling more alive than he had going in, Bright dressed in a fresh uniform and headed to the CIC. It was 0945, and Jane, Mohai, and surprisingly Jean were already in attendance. Seeing Bright enter, Jean immediately headed over, hand raised. "Yo, Cap'n!"

He seems intent on giving Bright a 'high five'.

Bright briefly considered letting him pinwheel in place by holing his hand low and letting pulling away, but decided not too, meeting his hand up to instead. The resulting crack seemed to satisfy the younger man, who then clasped Bright's hand in a Bro-Shake. "You Are. The Best. Commanding Officer. Ever."

"Things went well with Lourie, I take it?" Bright asked.

Jean nodded, smiling like an idiot. "EVER."

Bright chuckled. "I take it I can count on your vote once the war is over?" He asked as Jean let go.

"Vote? For what? Going to run for President after the Diet is reinstated?" Jean asked.

Jane looked at him as Bright answered, "It's a Tough job. Someone's got to do it."

"Then YES," Jean said, bumping Bright's fist with his own. "All of my votes, you have them."

"Mine too, sir. Assuming we come out of this alive," Mohai offered from the side.

"Thank you, gentlemen," Bright said as the rest of the relevant personnel came in, filing around the interactive table. Once they were situated, Bright began the briefing.

Operation Midnight Insertion

Objectives;
1 - Infiltrate Side 7, V Project Facility
2 - Capture/Destroy all Project resources

Second Objective becomes active at the same time Operation Doublefox and Meteor Shower Commence. Upon Capture of V-Project materials, use any available heavy movers to advance on the Hanger Access Elevator. This should coincide with Operation Doublefox as Access to the Hanger bay should be available. Load all captured resources and the infiltration team onto the Transport secured by Doublefox.
>>
>>26959899
(Above should be marked as
>[X] Up Top
>└>{X} Fist Bump)

Operation Doublefox

Objectives;
1 - Provide Communications Link
2 - Ex-filtrate Operation Midnight Insertion
3 - Capture/Destroy Federation Warships
4 - Cripple Side 7 Military Plausibility

Once in place, two commandos and three technician crews trained in portable laser comm. will set up and man said laser comm., providing unbroken lines of communications between operation teams.
Prior to Operation Meteor Shower commencing, the Moon Breaker Commando Unit is to infiltrate Side 7's Hanger Bay through the use of Maintenance Airlocks, and prepare to seize control of both Hanger Door Control and the Heavy Loading Elevator Controls. Upon commencing of Operation Meteor Shower, both the Hammer Slammers and Burst Falcon Squad assault the Hanger Bay through the Doors which should rest in our control. At least one Federation Warship must be captured in order to assist with the Ex-filtration. Upon Departure, Moon Breakers are to detonate Explosives to either Destroy or Cripple the Hanger. All forces with then rendezvous with the Siegfried to return to Zeon Controlled Space.

After informing Martha Vist-Carbine of her role as CO of the Sigfried, she opted to enact the mock battle with the Nero II during the final approach to Side Seven, finializing the plans for Operation Shieldmaiden.

Operation Shieldmaiden

Objectives:
1 - Disable enemy communications
2 - Patrol S7 Area of Influence
3 - Act as Decoy

Shieldmaiden assets can arrive in tandem with Midnight Insertion assets, performing a mock battle scenario between the ships in an attempt to provide a proper cover.
>>
>>26959942

Once in S7's Area of Influence, Operation Shieldmaiden will be responsible for maintaining High Density Minovsky Particle Distribution in and around S7's AoI, for the purpose of denying S7 radio communications.
Shieldmaiden assets shall maintain a patrol circuit around the colony, ensuring both proper M-Particle dispersion and advance notice of any incoming EFF vessels.
Sheildmaiden should be as visible as possible throughout the operation, thereby drawing some attention from the infiltration teams.

Operation Meteor Shower

Objectives:
1 - Take Command of Fleet Assets
2 - Act as Distraction and Decoy
3 - Assist Exfiltration

Upon arrival at S7, Char Aznable will assume command of all Zeon fleet assets in the area. Expanding upon Operation Shieldmaiden, Meteor Shower will continue to run interference using High Density Minovsky Particle Dispersion to block EFF transmissions. An attempt should be made to block laser comm. access to Luna II.
Once in place, it is up to Major Aznable's discretion to infiltrate the colony via Zaku II in ways that will not unduly compromise the previously detailed operations.
Major Aznable will also coordinate Zaku and Zudah teams for successful exfiltration of captured EFF materals and Zeon personnel.
>>
>>26959955

Bright finished his briefing and asked, "Any questions?"

Lieutenant Lannie Kissick, CO of the Hammer Slammer's stood. "Concerning the tanks, sir, are all four to be deployed with the Nero, to cover or capture this speculated carrier ship?

>Are they? Or keep 2 in reserve?
>Also, any other questions?
>>
>>26960017

"Take all four. The Feds are liable to have their own armor units stationed there so be prepared for Anti-armor combat as well as Anti-infantry, and at worst, Anti-MS..."

Also, a run down of who is being assigned to which operation team, which teams get which support packages, key personal assigned to certain objectives (Such as Mohai as the 'Commanding Officer', Ceff as the 'egg head'... also who gets assigned to operate the Zudah...)

Ideally Midnight Insertion should get 'caught' in the attack and use the chaos to orchestrate the EFF in loading the project onto a ship for us, then we 'escort' the ship (being the veteran EFF commando team) and clean up the ship once we have our forces dispersed though out the ship...
Alternatively, try and get the commandos onto the ship before the attack, that way, when it begins, they can take the ship and secure it, possibly preparing for departure/reading the manual...

Also, Ceff should try to get as much data from the EFF network as he can before we leave... After all, If the EFF have Minovski, then they might have some prototype designs from him...

>Welcome aboard, >>26961360 . Glad to have you.

>I realize I made an error. Jean's unit is the 'Star Hunter's, not the 'Blaze Falcon's. Moreover, it's 'Burst', not 'Blaze'. Bah.

>Take all four tanks.

Bright turned to Ceff. "Did you manage to disguise all four?"

"Bit of a materials procurement problem, so two are disguised as crawler excavators, while the other two are disguised as lifters - but yes," the professor said, holding up his hands to ward off Bright's demand to get to the point, "All of them are disguised."

"Transfer all four to the captured salamis, hereby named 'Nero II'. Midnight Insertion team, keep in mind that for the duration of the operation, Mohai Brett will be your CO, in his disguise as 'Brutus Sharp'. I will be his XO, in my disguise of 'Edward Mass'," Jane rolled her eyes at that, but Bright continued on. "Command of the pilot team of the Nero II, hereby dubbed 'Burst Falcons', will go to Captain Seabooke with Lieutenant Hatzenbuehler as her XO. PFC Olenius and Pheonix will round them off. Major Conty and Professor Ceff will be aboard the Nero II, as will the Hammer Slammer and Moon Breaker commando teams."

"As I stated previously, Warrent Officer Vist-Carbine will be the CO of the 'Siegfried' while Mohai and I are on the 'Nero II'. I made this choice based on her extensive experience and knowledge of Minovsky particle density and the effects on sensor range. Her XO will be Sergeant Kayne Manning. Leading the Star Hunters during Jean's absence will be Sergeant Chance Tavolacci, with Corporal Ezra Retersdorf as his XO. Privates Handwerker and Stuessy will be under their orders. Chance, once Sergant Councilman returns, you may allocate him as you see fit. You may also decide on which MS units to use, although using the Zudahs might lend to the stolen MS cover," there was a brief chuckle from the pilots.

"Ceff, wait, what is your actual rank anyway?" Bright asked.

"Me?" The old man asked. "Oh, I'm a..." he checked the inside of his lab coat's sleeve, before replaying, "Major General."

Bright stared at him.

"Technical division. All I know is that I know nothing about commanding. But I do know Science!"

"Right. Ceff, when we get to Side Seven, assuming our ruse plays off, get into their science department and do what you can. Chistine? Leave the repair of the Zudah to the rest of your team. I want you to go with Ceff, and try to hack into every database, server, and network you safely can."

"You want their files, sir?" The Technical Sergeant asked.

"After the last file we found? Yes. I want all of them," Bright replied.

"Will do, sir."

"If you find any manuals, training material, or anything related to their prototype MS, forward it to me, Captain Seabooke, or Lieutenant Hatzenbuehler by encrypted SD card as soon as you can. Lourie, Jean, I want one of you two in a position to pilot their MS when we steal it, if possible," Bright finished. Lourie gave him a smirk as Jean nodded.

Please don't let this turn into some oblivion-style level scaling, having the EF match us no matter what we do removes all sense of accomplishment, since no matter how well we do, it'll be worthless.

I mean I don't mind if us doing shit like stealing the Gundam manages to actually get their asses in gear, and ramp up the GM production line (albiet without all the sweet data from the Gundam learning computer), but having them constantly scale to make everything a challenge is just horrible.

Being successful should make things easier, and failing things should make things harder, having the enemy always scale to present the right level of challenge reeks of DBZ power levels.

>>
>>26962259
No questions from me. Let's move on.
>>
>>26962259
Actually, I'm just waiting for the EFF to start the mass production of GM's and bend Zeon over the table. Rather than the amount of troops Zeon lost had against the Gundam, I always thought that Zeon really screwed themselves by diverting so much attention *away* from other areas to focus on the Gundam, as well as giving the Gundam a huge amound of experience for its learning computer, which it then transferred into all the GM's.

IIRC, Zeon lost because the EFF just spammed GM's and Zeon couldn't keep up.

I always pictured the GM as the OYW's analogue to the T-34. Sure, later vehicles would out preform it, but the sheer amount of numbers meant that it didn't matter.
>>
>>26962405

but Anon, EFF cannot mass produce GMs if Jaburo is in our possession... Just imagine, Gelgoogs with the Learning Computer upgraded software... Panoramic Cockpits on all units... Lunar Titanium plating on the MA's furthing increasing their already formidiable defences... MA's being used in the correct MS Support roles that they were meant to do...
>>
>>26962542
The EFF still has Luna 2, and Ghiren is still very much in play and can fuck up Zeon's war effort with one of his war crimes-addled operations.
>>
Even if Zeon wins, there's the whole Deikun vs Zabi (vs Zabi?) thing
>>
>>26962405
The biggest advantages to capturing the Gundam seem to be in technology and morale, really. This isn't a huge game changer, since IIRC, Zeon lost because the EF's production vastly exceeded Zeon.

Getting our hands on the Gundam puts us on an even field, tech-wise, but does nothing to help us with keeping up numbers while we could have access to better reactors and beam weaponry, the EF has the same stuff, as well as access to Dr. Minovsky, the guy who pretty much created the entire field of research.

Getting our hands on the Gundarium (shut up, Luna Titanium sounds stupid as hell) doesn't help up with our lack of infastruction to produce it. We'd have to reverse engineer its production process with only the final result, as well as set up the infastructure to do so.

>>26962542
Analyzing and reproducing the tech, as well as putting it into production takes time. Finding out that Zeon stole their wonder weapon and now know all of its secrets might just lead them to scrap the Gundam project entirely and focus all of its resources on spamming GM's. The GM might not be as powerful as the Gundam, or later Zeon suits, but it's vastly eaiser to produce. The lack of Gundarium in the suit, as well as having *all* of their MS production on one suit and its varients, means it's vastly superior logistically.

To put it into perspective, since the EF only really uses one MS, the Earth Federation *starts* with a superior version of the United Maintenence Plan.

>The GM might not be as powerful as the Gundam, or later Zeon suits, but it's vastly eaiser to produce
This is true, however, the Gundam's Learning Computer is what made the GM such a threat. Without it, the EFF pilots would have fared much more poorly against Zeon pilots, and if we pull this off, the GM's that Zeon pilots go up against will move slower, react slower, and simply be more awkward in their movements.
>>
>>26962840
That actually might be rectified if we can steal the Gundam, since that gives us access to a Core Fighter. With our hands on some aircraft that aren't complete shit, Revil might not have such an uncontested air superiority.

(Well at least until the EF develops Core Boosters anyways, Zeon aircraft designers are absolute shit.)
>>

>>26963006
No, it's not. Everything is shit but weaponry. Beam Spray Guns which tears through armor like rice paper, millions of GMs to hold them, plus macros of Amuro equals gg for Zeon.
>>
>>26963006

>The GM was a threat because it was specifically built for Anti-MS combat, high armor and a particle beam shotgun, with the capability of downloading combat data from any unit with the proper recoding technologies, and incorporate said data into refined movement and firing algorithms.

>It's a self-evolving system.
>>
>>26963031
I doubt that, it's basically a scaled down, sure the Pilots aren't now mini-Amuro's but that doesn't actually lower the suits specs.

I mean one of the reasons the Gelgoog preformed sub-par was because it had so many rookie pilots, but that didn't mean that the Gelgoog itself wasn't a extremely powerful suit.
>>
The things with the EFF Suits is that their pilots usually came from Saber fish, Fly Manta and Ball pilots. The Learning Computer was used to pre-load the GMs with auto-routines for combat actions, such as how to dodge, All based on the experience Amuro obtained during the trip from Side 7 to Jaburo. This meant that EFF MSs started with a Handicap that put them on par with generic Zeon Aces. In one manga Char even states that they are just copying Amuros combat maneuvers allowing him to attack the place where it will dodge to...

Basically, removing the Gundam means that EFF MSs will have rookie pilots, meaning that there is a possibility that Zeon Veterans can get to grips with Anti MS combat by the time the EFF have trained pilots. thusly negating the initial shock bonus the EFF GM Spam had...

But this is all speculation. We will not see the changes that removing the Gundam from the EFFs MS Development program prior to it's activation will have until we reach the end of the bridge...

Despite that, it's got a power output of only slightly less than that of a Dom, 1250 vs 1269

Considering that it was basically designed to be an mass produced version of the Gundam, I'd expect many of the basic designes like frame and such, to be based directly on the Gundam.

With everyone seemly content for now, Bright dismissed them. As the troops filed out of the CIC to resume their duties and prepare to move their gear, again, Jane moved to stand by Bright. "Do you just like hitting all of my buttons, or is the universe really this cruel?"

"I'm sorry?" Bright asked.

"Concerning the questions I asked you last night? Edward Mass is a suspected alias," Jane said softly.

"Really? I had no idea. It's just a name of a guy I was friends with in High School on Earth. He was a blonde, so I thought it fit," Bright said, shrugging.

"Um humn," she said, eyeing him. "You look like hell."

"Bad dreams," he said, yawning. "Slept past my alarm, for what little good it did me."

She nodded, turning to go. "Be sure to take care of yourself, 'Edward'. Things would fall apart without you."

"Sure thing, Major."

The next few days went by in a blur, Bright's nights still fraught with the occasional nightmare from which he would awaken. He still didn't know if the dream he had with his father had been a real even or not. He and Mohai settled themselves into their respective suites, Ezra completed her maintenance duty and continued running Zudah training drills with the Airborne, burning into Wyatt and Aron's minds to never underestimate any mobile suit, regardless of age or looks. Chance, for his part, let Ezra boss the FNG's around, stepping in only when he felt was necessary, and taking part in the flying lessons as well.

Jean and Lourie had a brief row over the Balls, but Jean managed to convince her to fly one 'for the good of the mission', without getting Ceff to add more thrusters to it. With the commando teams doubling as crew members, the Nero II and the Siegfried made their way out of the Loum Shoal Field at 2300 hours, August 03rd, 0079. Mohai immediately ordered the Nero II to set out at full speed as the Siegfried remained behind to rendezvous with the Komusai that had been sent to Pezun.

What about copying motion data from Zanny and captured Zakus? You're assuming GMs will just move like Battlemechs without all the Learning Comp. data.
>>
>>26963180
Losing the Gundam also costs the EFF all the performance data from its use. That could set GM production back months. Not only will the EFF lose Amuro's piloting data, they won't know how well the Gundam compares to Zeon tech. Lab tests and trials can only do so much. Without combat data, it will be more difficult and time-consuming to pare down the Gundam for mass-production. It may not cost them the war, but it will even the scales out later.

That's my point exactly, the GM's is a solid suit with a computer that turned its pilot into an instant vetran. Now though, it's going to be a unit piloted like rookies, instead of having a suit that overpreforms, thanks to its Learning Computer, it's not a suit that underpreforms thanks to inexperienced pilots, much like the Gelgoog did.

However, after awhile, that lack of skill is going to rapidly vanish, as the EF pilots hone their skills in battle. They might not start off as good, hell their skills might not even reach that high of Amuro's built-in skills, but the EF can just dogpile us with them.

>>26963453
I'm not saying it is, I'm saying that the EF's going to take the Gundam, take out everything that makes it harder to produce (Core Block system, I'm looking at you.) And try to get it as easy to produce as possible, while still maintaining as much preformance as possible.

>>26963466
I'm still of the belief that it's because the EF simply procuded too many of them, and the only unit that could keep up, numbers-wise, was absolute shit.
>>
I'm still standing by my 0079/WWII analogy, with the Germans/Zeons spending too much time and effort into producting stupid wonder weapons that never took off, compared to the allies who just beat them with sheer numbers. A t-34 might underpreform when piloted by rookies, but when you're willing to throw a few million men at the problem, that starts to diminish rapidly.

>Rolled 1.

An hour after they had set out the communications officer called, “Sir? Incoming communication from the Sie... err, the Zeon ship.”

Mohai raised an eyebrow and glanced at Bright, who shrugged. “Open comm.s, let’s see what they have to say.”

“Aye, sir,” was the prompt reply. A moment later, the main screen changed from the gently expanding curve of the Earth to the stern, scowling visage of Martha Vist-Carbine.

“Stand to and surrender, Federation Dogs!” She snapped.

Bright covered his face with the bill of his captured EFF officer's cap, trying to keep from laughing as Mohai rose from the Captain's seat and clasped his hands behind his back. “What... is the meaning of this?”

“You have invaded Zeon territory, stolen one of our prototypes, and are fleeing for your lives. The meaning of ‘surrender’ should be obvious!" Martha said. Sergeant manning leaned into fram and whispered something into Martha's ear. She nodded and continued, "We have sent you our terms, you have one hour to decide your fate,” Martha said before making a chopping motion with her hand at neck level, cutting the transmission off.

Mohai held his position for a long moment before turning to the communications officer. “No. Seriously. What the hell was that?”

The man on comm.s shrugged. “They sent us some data over burst transmission, sir. Should I bring it up?”

“Yes,” Bright said. He stood and joined Mohai at the comm. console as the relevant data was translated. The first segment was a copy of the same terms of surrender Bright had sent Brutus Sharp five days prior. The second segment, however, caught their attention: reports on a battle that occurred at Riah four days ago, a brief inventory on captured material, a Message from Char Aznable stating he would be slightly delayed by some minor repairs to the Falmel but would make the Rendezvous, and a video message from Sergeant Councilman.

“Ah, I see,” Moahi said. “They must have met up with our returning Musai, and felt this information needed to be forwarded on. Clever.”

“Bring up that video, would you?” Bright asked. The comms man decompressed the file and it began to play.

Kareem sat on a bed facing the camera, his duty jacket draped over his shoulders. He was otherwise adorned in an open front hospital gown; tightly wound bandages were evident on his chest, as was the sling on his arm and the outline of a cast on his left leg under the blue sheet. He offered the camera a wan smile before speaking. “Sergeant Councilman reporting, sir. After conveying the data to Pezun, I took it upon myself to join the forces defending Riah, and have been injured due this. I accept full responsibility for exceeding my given orders, for commanding the men under me into a combat mission without the knowledge or authority given by my commanding officer to do so, and for placing the men and material entrusted to me at risk. It is my duty to report that due to the aforementioned combat, I have incurred injuries. I have been informed by the chief medical officer of the Pezun project that I am no longer fit to return to duty, and will be required to undergo extensive hospitalization and physical therapy ‘until my condition improves’.”

After quoting the last line, his face turned sour. “I have been informed to not expect improvement, and have been removed from combat duty. Pending your approval, I will be transferred as an instructor for Riah’s MS training facility. Should you disprove, I will be medically discharged and sent home.” His face twitched, as if he wanted to say something more, but could not bring himself to do so. “Sergeant Councilman, signing off,” he finished, offering a crisp salute before the scene went dark.

The comm. officer moved to cut the video feed, but Bright stopped him, noticing the shuttle wasn’t at the end of the video yet. A few seconds passed before the video started up again showing the desk of a Musai pattern cruiser’s captain’s quarter’s, while a blonde man wearing a visor sat on one corner of the desk looking over a written report. Off camera, a man’s voice stated, “Its recording, sir.”

Char Aznable looked up from the report in his hand and smiled. “Thank you, Royal. Bright, if you’re watching this, you should know your man’s actions helped save the day. I’m not going to gush, but we were facing a severe disadvantage in force composition before Sergeant Councilman showed up. According to this report,” Char tapped the papers with the back of his free hand, “We were up against two Magellan’s, eight Salamis’, and more Saberfish and Balls than I care to list. They came in with half their force as a diversion first, and even with what little Riah had to offer as support, it wasn’t going to come out in our favor after the second element was detected. That’s when your man showed up in a Mobie Armor, towing the god damn Black Tri Stars, five additional Zaku’s, and more cracker grenades than we knew what to do with. He had already sustained his injuries when he transferred command of the armor to me, and then sortied in a machine that the Pezun techs swear should have blown up.” Char set his papers down, and stood. “I don’t do commendations often, Bright, but if you don’t sign off on his transfer, I will. Crazy bastard deserves the damn Iron Cross.”

He picked up his iconic white helmet from the desk and donned it. “All right, that's all I had to say. See you at Side Seven, Major.”

Fact number 2: all of the super weapons tended to be aimed down at earth or at long range fleet assets.
