Hey guys, serious discussion time.

Do you guys play the "Hidefinder" variant in which anyone who is hidden and found helps the seeker? Or do you prefer sitting around with the seeker mercilessly mocking him when he can't find anyone?

Or there's always the infamous tag-or-no-tag debate. Can someone run away if they are found and hide again? Or does just seeing them automatically make them lose?

The Seeker must count at the "base".
They that are found must be tagged.
They that are found may flee to the "base."
Those who reach the base without being tagged are safe.
He who is found and tagged first becomes the new seeker after all have been found or are safe.
They that hide are not bound to their hiding place.
Sex is permitted only by the hidden.

It's like you never read the core book.

The way we played hide and seek was this (I have no idea what the "proper" terms are as I am not an Anglophone) was pretty /tg/ now that I remember it.

Randomly determine the seeker and whether he will count to a hundred by fives or tens, as well as how many times. He then counts at the 'base' while everybody hides. The seeker then goes about to the various hiding spots in order to spot someone. As soon as he does, he and the player he spotted race back to the base. The winner is said to have "spat" the other person (direct translation). This repeats until the last hider is either spit, in which case the seeker wins and the first person to be spit becomes the seeker, or until the last hider spits the seeker, in which case the hiders win and the seeker remains as is.

We also had rules against "castling" (seeker remaining very close to the base), "eyeing" (being a cheating bastard), as well as hiding too close to the base ("burnt" and you had to be the seeker). The seeker normally didn't care about spitting any more than two hiders (because that's how many you needed to stop being seeker), but how many hiders you did spit was considered your score (or how many hiders spat the seeker if the hiders won).
>>
>>26904508
Well, shit, this long exposition has been more concisely stated by >>26904430

good to know that other kids played it like that though
>>
>>26904430
We also have the "rambo" expansion. Hiders move from one end of town to a designated point on the other, avoiding any seekers and the cops.
>>26904447
It's a tool to keep the game flowing, you tool. It keeps the hiders engaged and prevents the hiders from using all their condoms in one go.

Me and my buddies play "the most dangerous game" I have a collection of airsoft guns and one person gets 10 minuets to run into the forest that surrounds my property, the rest of us all arm ourselves with one of my guns and a walkie talkie, the person hiding gets a can of spray paint, if they get close enough to spray without getting shot you have to sit down right where you "died" and give them your walkie talkie and gun. Sometimes we catch them quick and easy other times it becomes a really fun/scary game of cat and mouse.

>tfw once I went full Rambo and "killed" an entire team of six people with nothing but my can of spray paint.
>>
>>26904306
Pffft, I once hid in a closet for 7 years.
>>
>>26904183
No, but I have played the Sardines variant.
Go out into the woods at night and choose one person to be the hider, the rest of the group are seekers. Count to 100 then split up and search individually. A seekers search around until they find the hider and, rather than announce it, stealthily join him in his hiding spot. This continues until the hider and seekers are all packed into one hiding spot and are found by the last seeker.
Great night time fun. Especially if you're playing with other kids that get spooked easily.
>>
>>26904473

Go on then... COME and FIND me.
>>
>>26904581
That one's pretty good. The paranoia ramps up as Seekers notice more and more players go missing.

I pissed off my friend during a hide and seek game while camping once because after bragging about his spot nobody had found him in, on my turn I spotted him easily - he was hiding up in a tree. I didn't ACTUALLY see him is the trick, though - I just saw a dark spot in the tree and called his name out, and like a fool he admitted I'd caught him.
>>
>>26904581
Oh, that's an interesting variant.
>>
I terrorized my players with a game of hide and seek once.

They were heroic mortals, destined to Exalt some day. The group thaumaturge was trying to summon a blood ape to negotiate it's service as a bodyguard during diplomatic talks with a untrustworthy beastman tribe. Thaumaturge had done this trick before, but this time around the player was over confident and rolled without channeling Willpower.

Naturally, she botched and I decided that instead of a blood ape, she summoned up Roanoke, Dog of Dark Days, Seeking Soul of the Ebon Dragon. Just to make matters worse, she failed a basic Occult roll to identify what she had summoned, knowing nothing but what the demon itself volunteered. They never saw it manifested, only saw it as a canine shadow on the wall with too many limbs and a mouth that seemed to split it's head in half. The demon told them it would count down a week of seconds in which they had to run and hide, then it would come for them.

The group diplomat managed to negotiate the count up to a year (which I nearly Exalted him for on the spot) and they got the hell out of there. The game went on, There were diplomatic missions and a war to fight and the first Exaltation with others soon to follow. The players eventually forgot the whole thing.

But I hadn't. I was counting the days.

It finally happened at the moment of their greatest triumph. They'd united and lead rival groups into a stand that had checked an advance by the Ten Thousand in their small corner of the world. There was more fighting to be done, but for now they had assembled in the throne room of the kingdom who had first enlisted their aid as heroic mortals. Now they were Exalted, lords of Creation, praised and worshiped. The Eclipse had even been named heir to the throne.

They were just settling in for a nice relaxing scene of diplomacy and seduction and honor duels, when a voice echoed through the throne room.

>"Ready or not, here I come."

They were not ready.

this doesn't make sense, what is the incentive in hiding or seeking after the first person has already been tagged? dumb kids.
>>
>>26905140
The only time I've played with bases was in manhunt variants in which there's a team of seekers against a team of hiders. How could one seeker search people out without leaving the base open?
>>
>>26905326
>leaving the base open?
that's the point I guess.
>>
>>26904821
Amazing.
How did it end?
>>
>>26905377
That sucks though, the hiders just have to wait til he's all the way on the other side of the play field and has no chance of tagging them, or he'd be forced to adopt "puppygaurding" tactics.
>>
>>26905425
They defeated it, eventually, but not before it had nearly killed them several times over.

The players didn't realize what was going on initially or even ask me questions (their mistake), they just thought it was something to do with the Ten Thousand plot line. So, after the party they did what had become routine and split up to deal with different situations, which meant none of them had the support of the others when the demon "found" them. They'd all gotten cocky after they Exalted and were able to easily defeat a lot of enemies who had once been a dire challenge, so it was nice to put them up against something that tore them to shreds and sent them fleeing. It ambushed them so consistently and hurt them so badly in every fight, they started traveling in pairs and eventually as a group.

The trouble was that none of them bothered to take spirit-fighting Charms till long after this, so Roanoke became this incomprehensable horror who would crawl out of the shadows, whispering

>"Found you."

before it set about destroying them, as they were helpless to retaliate. They finally had the bright idea to actually play the game and hide and cut a deal with a somewhat-friendly fair folk court to hide in a wyld-tainted demanse and leave a trail of breadcrumbs for the demon to follow. Once it was there, of course, the situation shouldn't have changed all that much for them, but I took pity and set it up so the fair folk shaped their little pocket of insanity so that the rules of the game changed and Roanoke hide while they sought.

He hid well, but they found him and once they found him, they found him wanting.

Check this strat:

Walk directly behind the seeker at all times. He will never be able to spot you then.
