Hey everyone! It’s Crosswire here. I don't have the next part planned out yet and I won't have time to do it this week due to me working double shifts. However I thought I'd do something fun today so I decided to set up a Discussion thread for Gundam AGE Quest. Anyone participating, following, or interested in Gundam AGE Quest can come here to plot, conspire, and talk over aspects of the Quest, the Mobile Suits, the Plot, and its characters. I will be posting EXA-DB Datalogs of the many suits that have shown up during the Quest, filling everyone in on the details that you may not know.

The first datalog will be up in a bit, until then, chat away!
>>
So, we're going to Solon City.
What are the chances of Admiral Flit arriving there to perform an investigation into suspicious activities as well as find out who put Scarlet into the position of a Commanding Officer?
>>
>>26899716
Why the Meta?
>>
>>26899964
Oh I was just messing around. I didn't mean to do the whole dimensional traveling thing, but after I did I got to thinking about Meta Quest and I was like "This will drive them crazy".

So it was just a joke, don't worry about it. I won't get AGE Quest involved with Meta Quest.

Optional Equipment:

Bio: After the battle of Ambat and the growing number of losses at the hands of the Vagan, the Earth Federation government became concerned of the threat that “X-Rounders” posed. Dr. Daniel Spriggans, head of the Earth Federations X-Rounder research institute, proposed the formation of the X-Rounder Special Forces and the development of a suit for their sole use. After locating candidates, the Earth Federation set out to develop their first X-Rounder use mobile suit. Using the frame of the G-Bouncer as a base, it was modified to be used by X-Rounders utilizing data from the PMS-001P G-Exes High Performance Custom, AGE-1BA Gundam AGE-1 Badlan, xvv-xc Zedas, and xvb-xd Farsia.

Thanks to the Vagan mobile suits recovered by Jake Crocker and the data from Mellis, Spriggan Labs were able to create a balanced, high performance X-Rounder use mobile suit with an experimental X-Transmitter and Funnels. Initial tests went off without a hitch and it was cleared for limited mass production, given the model number and name RGE-1300XR Pioneer α. It was called the Pioneer since it was the Earth Federations first step into X-Rounder technology.

The Magnificent 7 utilized the Pioneer Alpha to great effect against the Vagan. The Pioneer Alpha had high mobility, response, and speed on top of a balanced weapons load out. However the T-Funnels gave them an edge against Vagan X-Rounders. Functioning as DODS Beam Cannons and Anti-MS Drills, the T-Funnels were able to overwhelm and destroy targets at both long and close range. The Pioneer Alpha’s success became cemented after the Magnificent 7 shot down and destroyed 10 Zedas and 5 Farsia mobile suits during a Vagan attack on a manufacturing colony.
3 years later and the Pioneer Alpha is still regarded as cutting edge, but there has been talk of a possible upgrade once more X-Rounders became available to the Federation Forces.

Pilot Accommodations: Pilot only, in cockpit in torso

Fixed Armaments:
Shoulder Beam Emitter x2
Knee Beam Emitter x2
Knuckle Beam Emitter x2
Foot Beam Emitter x2
Forehead Beam Emitter x1

Optional Equipment: Anti-Beam Cloak

Bio: Before the Battle of Ambat, the pilots of the Diva and the Schoolbus journeyed to Madorna in search of customized mobile suits. After trading in their Genoaces, Woolf Enneacle, Arnold Perlstein, Tim Black, Carlos Ramon, and Ralphie Tennelli each received a customized mobile suit based on their specifications.
One of these mobile suits was the CMS-RHC/67 Shaldoll Melee Type Custom. Using a Shaldoll as a frame, and utilizing data from both the AGE-1 Titus and Brocka wears, this Shaldoll was customized specifically for close quarters combat. Featuring heavy armor and enhanced servo motors, this Shaldoll had tremendous defensive and offensive capabilities. The additional of beam emitters on shoulders, knees, knuckles, feet, and forehead gave this Shaldoll the ability to fight even if its arms were destroyed.

Coupled with Ralphie Tennelli’s knack for fighting enemies up close and personal, this suit destroyed all enemies that foolishly came within arm’s reach of it. Despite its inability to use handheld weapons due to its larger hands this suit this suit claimed 40 kills at the Battle of Ambat, striking terror into the Vagan menace and launching its pilot into the status of Ace Pilot.

200mm Recoilless Launcher

Optional Equipment:

Bio: After seeing the success of the AGE-1 in combat and realizing the inferiority of the Genoace, the Earth Federation began to work to improve the Genoace so as to better combat the growing Vagan threat. While plans were in motion for a new Genoace, the Earth Federation also started a project to refit all of the old Genoaces.

This upgrade package turned the standard RGE-B790 Genoace, into the RGE-C790 Genoace Kai, featuring additional armor, improved thrusters, additional vierners, reinforced components, longer sensor range, hard points for storing ammo equipment, and improved generator output. On top of that the Genoace Kai upgraded the useless beam spray guns the standard Genoaces used into regular DODS Rifles. This upgrade package also included a 200mm Recoilless Launcher, which fired explosive EM propelled projectiles.

Only a single Genoace Kai was ever made as the upgrade program was dumped all together in favor of speeding up the development and production of the Genoace II. Many Genoaces were stuffed into the reserves or sold off to civilian and criminal organizations.

Recently however Flit Asuno came across the data for the Genoace Kai, and while he doesn’t intend to endorse it now that the Genoace II is fully fielded, he has reconsidered OKing a Genoace I upgrade program.

Bio: Pirates were notorious for harassing unprotected colonies and Earth Federation installations. They used stolen Genoaces for a while, but soon after the Madorna Workshop opened they began to buy modified Shaldolls and use them for raids and thievery. The modifications to the Pirate Shaldoll were a silver paint job, enhanced optic sensors, additional vieners, and increased thruster output for faster get-aways.

While the Pirate Shaldolls were quite effective at pissing off Federation Troops, they were no match against the superior mobile suits of the Vagans, as seen when the pirates attempting to steal the AGE-X were slaughtered by a single Vagan mobile suit. Equipped with DODS Rifles and Beam Sabers, they participating in the Battle of Ambat after Jake Crocker convinced Captain Blackmarsh to help them.

After the introduction of DODS and enhanced beam weapons, the Pirate Shaldoll saw many variants and modifications before being passed up for the Rogue Shaldoll in A.G 139. The Pirate Shaldoll is still in use by some poorer pirates and by backwater thugs on Earth.

Bio: After the Success of the AGE-1 and Flit Asuno’s rise through the military ranks, Flit began to influence the Federation to be more lenient when it came to the cost of mobile suits. Eventually he was able to convince them for the need for a Mass Produced Gundam. Initially he had some resistance due to the cost of the AGE-1, but after tweaking the aesthetic designs of it and making some minor cost cutting measures he produced the Proto Adele and used it in a tech demonstration to seal the deal with Federation bigwigs.

Spec wise the Adele shares a 75% part similarity between the AGE-1. If one was to take away the optical safeguard of the Adele they would find a set up similar to the AGE-1 Gundam. The Adele is essentially a cost reduced, mass produced version of the AGE-1. It’s overall abilities are slightly less than the original AGE-1 but it’s capable of using all the same wears and equipment as the original.

The Prototype Adele is closer to the original AGE-1 with a 80% parts similarity. It was given to LEVIATHAN for testing and experimentation. It was abandoned on the Zarth colony after tests were concluded and all important data was wiped from its drive. It was repaired by Dirk Crocker and given to Asemu Enneacle as a birthday present. It was used to defend the Zarth colony twice and is currently a reserve unit at the disposal of Commander Scarlet Crocker.

So it's possible to upgrade the mass produced Adeles using some schematics from the prototype suit, if only for something like 5%.
Good, we could use the Prototype Adele then as a base for the Adeles we should make for the Colony Defense mission. Combine it with some data from the Merlin to get hardpoints and you've got a pretty decent suit.

Model Number/Name: xvx-oo Aurantiaco

Manufacturer: Vagan

Operator: Vagan

Known Pilots: Zeek

Overall Height: 12.0 meters

Standard Weight: 200.0 metric tons

Pilot Accommodations: Cockpit in body with 360° monitor display, pilot only.

Armaments
Mega Beam Scatter Cannon
2 x Beam Vulcan/Beam Saber

Optional Equipment
Booster Unit

Bio: Before the assault on Ambat, Jake Crocker and the pilots aboard the Magic Schoolbus had to take care of a Vagan facility to prevent them from alerting Ambat. During their attack on the facility, young researcher Zeek launched in his prototype Mobile Armor to protect the facility and buy time for the other researchers and personnel to escape.

The xvx-oo Aurantiaco was a large spherical mobile armor, with large light propulsion thrusters at the back, two large arms slapped onto the front and dozens of Gafran heads attached to the front, arranged to form a mouth and eyes as well as hiding a large scattering beam cannon. The Aurantiaco was painted and orange color to indicate it was a test unit. The Mobile Armor was never intended to be taken into combat, but it performed admirably, damaging several suits and allowing most of the researchers to escape before it was disabled and later destroyed by Zeek after he ejected. Jake dubbed it the "Space Orange" due to it's round shape and orange color.

Despite its destruction, the data on the suit was taken with fleeing researchers to Ambat. From there it was transported to a safe facility where the data was used to fabricate two more Aurantiaco’s for testing and combat. These two units combated Flit Asuno and Jake Crocker during the First Battle of Luna in A.G. 116. One unit was destroyed and the other managed to flee.

Vagan researchers realized the severe flaws of the design, but recognized the potential of the unit. The data gained from the “Space Orange” is being used to develop other Vagan Mobile Armors.

Bio: Jack Crocker turned in his custom Genoace for a heavily customized mobile suit, both to ensure his survival at the upcoming battle at Ambat and to keep up with his rival Woolf. The suit he received was the JMS-001 J-Exes. Based off the G-Exes design, the J-Exes boosted enhanced maneuverability and dozens of hardpoints and slots for ‘trick’ grenades and missiles.
While near identical to the G-Exes, Jack requested it be called the J-Exes so Woolf couldn’t tease him about being a copycat.

Despite being very similar to the G-Exes, the J-Exes was tuned and customized towards Jack Crockers fighting style, allowing him to more easily confuse his enemies and hit them with his many trick grenades which included goo grenades, electrified nets, flash bangs, sensor destroying flechette missiles, and more.

To this day Jack Crocker still uses his J-Exes, even after retirement as he bravely works to defend Zarth alongside his granddaughter Scarlet Crocker. The J-Exes puts the fear in many the heart of trainees who know the name “Jack of Pumpkins”

Arnold, favoring long range combat and sniping once again customized his mobile suit to be a sniper suit. Featuring enhanced long range sensors, decreased armor, enhanced thrusters, and a upgraded generator the G-Bouncer Sniper Custom was a mean sniper machine. Equipped with a Radome and a powerful DODS Sniper Rifle, Arnold could attack Vagan suits far outside of their counter attack range, allowing him to pick off whole squads from the safety of a nearby asteroid.

Bio: The Shaldoll is favored by the Federation for its ease of production, maintenance, and modifiability. While the Adele can utilize wears for different combat situations and the Genoace is good for general situation, the Shaldoll can be customized for specialized tasks. Once of these specialized tasks was the defense of the Luna Base on the Moon.

Thirty CMS-D/70 Shaldoll Luna Defense Customs were commissioned by the Earth Federation and assigned to the Luna base for defense against Vagan assaults. Featuring heavier armor, better sensors, and a stronger reactor, the Luna Defense Shaldolls were equipped with two DODS Gatling Cannons mounted on their shoulders. Thanks to the stronger reactor, the DODS Gatling Cannons could be used without an external generator pack and left room for a booster pack.

During the Second Assault on Luna, these brave Shaldolls and their pilots valiantly defended the base against swarms of Vagan mobile suits. Only 7 units survived the assault thanks to the partial recovery of the defense systems by Dirk Crocker. They left with the evacuated personel and are currently aboard the Leviathan Flagship DAGON.

Should we flesh out the characters' histories a bit?
We know that Jake and his family lived on Minsry for a while, possibly because of Dirk's condition as a powerful X-Rounder, before they moved back to Zarth. During their stay on Minsry, the Crocker kids hang around mostly with the Asuno twins - Dirk with Akito and Scarlet with Yurika. The Crockers eventually moved back to Zarth, and the next encounter with the Asunos was a couple of years later. Dirk couldn't recognize his former friend, who turned from a pleasant and friendly guy into a bitter and insecure ass, while Scarlet and Yurika got along splendidly. Yurika used to drag Dirk around, convincing him to join various clubs, eventually introducing him to Asemu Enneacle and convincing him to join the Mobile Suit Club. Later on, Asemu and his childhood friend Romary Stone introduced a transfer student Zeheart Galette to the rest of the club.

Pilot Accommodations: Pilot only, torso in cockpit

Armaments: Rod Lance

Optional Equipment:

Bio: The Magina wear was developed before the First Battle of Luna by Flit Asuno. Flit wanted a wear that could deal light and heavy attacks while only needing a single weapon to do so. His solution was the Magina wear. Based off the magicians of old, the Magina wear features modified legs and arms and skirt armor. In these armor segments were large batteries and capacitors that would store up energy for the Magina’s main weapon, the Rod Lance or as Jake came to call it “The Magic Wand”.

The Rod Lance was a variable beam rifle/saber that could adjust its strength and rate of fire very easily, allowing Flit to switch from rapid fire DODS shots to slow and powerful DODS blasts. This constant change in the beam’s strength was demanding in terms of power, but thanks to the capacitors and batteries in the Magina’s armor, the Rod Lance had all the extra power it needed to switch between fire settings.

Flit used the Magina wear to defend Luna against a large Vagan assult with the help of Jake Crocker. Using the Magina wear he managed to destroy a Vagan mobile armor and take down numerous Vagan mobile suits. After the battle the Magina saw very little action as Flit worked to produce better and more powerful wears.

It was originally turned down for mass production due to its cost, but as the Battle of Big Ring grew more and more important, it was reanalyzed and OKed for mass production for the RGE-G1100 Adele.

Bio:
After Jake Crocker left the Earth Federation military to start a family, Flit was left alone to work on developing more wears for the AGE-1. After a nasty run in with a group of Zedas, and the destruction of the AGE-1’s Spallow Wear, he came to realize the need for a proper defense against beam weapons. Using data from the Anti-Beam Cowl and Anti-Beam Coating he had collected, he developed a special type of plating that would absorb beam weapon fire and store it as energy.

He used this material to make the AGE-1W Warzes wear and tested it in battle against a group of Zedas. The Warzes proved powerful in melee with its specialized striking arms or “War Knuckles” and was safe from ranged attacks thanks to the “Mirror Shield”. Flit found that after a certain amount of energy had been collected, the armor had to expel it. Thankfully this worked to Flit’s advantage as the energy release served as a powerful area attack.
Despite the wear’s immediate success over time Flit realized the plating was vulnerable to powerful beam attacks and the Warzes wear required a ridiculous amount of maintenance. While it served him well during his military career, Flit didn’t use it anymore then he had too.

Like many of the AGE-1’s misc wears, it was turned down for mass production before being given the green stamp months before the battle of Big Ring to help bolster the RGE-G1100 Adeles strength and combat capabilities.
>>
>>26903257
Imagine all the snickering around that thing.

But seriously, it has a couple of good points. All those capacitors and batteries could be used to fuel some powerful stuff, and having a weapon that can switch between light and heavy fire is pretty useful.

Flit Asuno was one of these soldiers. This was one of the first times the AGE-1 had ever been used on Earth, so taking advantage of the situation he developed a wear specifically for combat on Earth. The AGE-1A Arias was a wear that allowed the AGE-1 Gundam to fly in atmosphere for long periods of time. Utilizing six powerful thrusters for lift and flight control, Flit installed them in large blades to both protect the thrusters and give the Gundam a powerful weapon.

The AGE-1A Airias proved to be a very useful and powerful wear, able to dive down and slice enemies to ribbons, before flying off and coming back around for a strafe attack. It was an excellent wear that gave Flit his first instance of air combat on Earth as well as plenty of melee combat data that was later used to make the AGE-1R Razor wear in A.G. 123.

However the Airias wear saw very little use after the operation, as most of the fighting was in Space. While denied for mass production even after the battle of Big Ring loomed in the distance, the data was sampled by the Federation to make a atmospheric flight platform or “Wayboard” for use on Earth by non-flight capable mobile suits.

It's a high maintenance unit that's focused on absorbing damage, but can't take stronger shots. I don't think it's going to be of much use against the new Vagan weapons, so we should upgrade that thing, mostly because that Mirror Shield would be awesome to separate from the wear and use on its own.

Bio: Developed aboard the Diva shortly before the Battle of Ambat along with the Brocka and Gundead wears, Flit Asuno didn't really get to try these wears out until later in his military career. Designed for closer quarters combat were ranged weapons weren't viable, the Beelzerga sported a heavy armor, bladed feet, powerful arm servo motors, and a large staffed weapon developed from the “Pizza Cutter” beam staff Flit used a while back. The Beam Disk Rod featured enhanced cutting power and longer reach, giving the Beelzerga advantage over a beam saber user.

Flit used this during operations in retaking important bases and armories, were a lot of munitions were stored and stray shots could mean the difference between blowing up an enemy and blowing the whole base up. The Beelzerga proved useful, if rather specific in its uses. Still it was a valuble source of melee data and was later accepted for mass production and use by the Adele a few months before the battle of Big Ring.

DODS Rifle

Bio: The Gundead was developed alongside the Brocka and Beelzerga before the battle of Ambat, but never saw use until later in Flit’s career. The Gundead was meant to be a ranged weapon wear for the AGE-1, giving the Gundam access to stronger, longer ranged beam weapons then the DODS Rifle.

The DODS Bazooka was an arm mounted; slow firing, but powerful weapon that drew power directly from the AGE-1’s reactor. It could easily punch through a mobile suit in a single shot, even from a great distance; it suffered in the charge time between shots however.

To make up for this Flit added the Gigant Blaster, a more rapid fire and scatter shot beam weapon that kept penetration and strength while keeping rate of fire thanks to a miniaturized energy accelerator on the Gundead’s left shoulder. Using these two weapons, Flit could easily assult enemies from afar and keep them at bay while the DODS Bazooka charged.

To add to the Gundeads capabilities, Flit could form a “Hyper DODS Cannon” connecting the Gigant Blaster to the energy accelerator installed on its left arm, achieving power output equivalent to the main gun of a battleship, allowing Flit to take on and deal damage to Vagan ship and base emplacements. This however proved dangerous as the Energy Accelerator overheated after a single shot and put incredible strain on the AGE-1’s reactor.

The Gundead’s data proved vital in creating the Hyper DODS Rifle years later and was scheduled for mass production a few months before the battle of Big Ring.

Oh well. The thing about Editors doing nasty things has been reflected in Yellowman Quest too!

Bio: The Beaks wear was developed later in Flit’s career as he began to focus on experimenting with the limitations of Vagan’s technology. Designing a fast moving wear using insect flight data and creating a pair of shields with built in Spread Machineguns, Flit launched in several missions in an attempt to overwhelm a Vagan suit’s EM Armor.

Flit eventually succeeded, finding that EM armor was unable to stop every shot from a rapid fire beam weapon which allowed for Flit to slowly wear down his enemy by raining beam shots down at them faster than any DODS Rifle would allow.

This wear was merely experimental, but was found to serve as a good defensive/suppression wear and was green lighted for mass production upon re-evaluation.

After Flit Asuno met Jake Crocker, he took a keen interest in the AGE-X Crusader Gundam. After making a deal with Jake and finally getting to look it over, he collected data on it and used it to make a wear based off of it. This wear was the AGE-1SW Swordia.

The Swordia was the first dedicated blade wielding wear he had developed for the AGE-1. Using data from the AGE-X he developed a powerful sword called the “Liberta” Sword and a shield based off the AGE-X’s Arthurian shield.

Flit mostly did this as an experiment to test the AGE-1’s evolutionary capabilities and only used it a few times in combat. He later used it in his career in a few friendly matches against Jake Crocker and the AGE-1.

It was recently greenlit for mass production shortly before the predicted battle of Big Ring and is intended to be used by Adele pilots in the upcoming fight.

Bio: The Gradas wear was one of the last wears Flit made before climbing the ladder into the higher echelons of the Earth Federation forces. It was intended to see if the AGE-1 could be disguised given the proper wear and aesthetic chages.

Using bits and pieces of data recovered on Pre-Colony Nation Wars Mobile suits, Flit designed a wear to limit the AGE-1’s capabilities so it could infiltrate pirate groups. After equipping the wear, Flit would attack a kind of ‘Flak Vest’ to the AGE-1 to disguise it’s torso and would then attach a kind of helmet over the AGE-1’s head, making it look like a mono-eyed mobile suit.

The Gardas did its job and proved how versatile the AGE-1 could be, however Flit only used it once and admitted its combat performance wasn’t anything special. Still, the data ended up going missing and helped the Zalam/Euba faction produce Zila and Xeno Kai’s.

Later on the wear was considered for limited mass production to help the Earth Federation forces infiltrate pirate groups and destroy them, but the idea was scrapped in favor of producing more combat effective wears for the Adele.

Or just to deny the Vagans a Forward base.
>>
>>26904467
It could be something much simpler than that. Helium-3 is the best known fusion fuel. There is very little of it on Earth. In the UC timeline, it is supplied by the Jovian Energy Fleet extracting it from Jupiter's atmosphere. That obviously does not exist in this timeline, as Vagan is the only known colony in deep space. But there is a fairly large amount of He-3 trapped in the lunar regolith. The moon bases could just have been mining operations. Eliminating those would greatly disrupt Federation military operations. Dueterium-burning reactors would produce a lot more radiation, greatly increasing the amount of maintenance and expense needed to keep mobile suits running. Maybe we should work on some new energy systems. With nanomachines, the maintenance for deuterium reactors would be a lot easier to do, and some energy-inefficient deuterium designs produce He-3 as a byproduct. We could build a bunch of factories set up on a comet or just on Earth and have them produce fuel for us.

Alternatively, one of the potential uses of nano-scale electrostatic devices is antimatter confinement. We throw some Von Neumann devices at Mercury, they create an enormous laser array that uses the Auger effect to produce positrons. Then we encapsulate them and bring them back for the ultimate generator. The safety mechanisms to prevent sympathetic detonation upon destruction would be a bitch to deal with, though. Ships could probably use them safely, at least.

Bio:
Using data from the recovered Farsia, Flit developed the Badlan wear shortly before the battle of Ambat as a backup in case his “Giant Wear” was destroyed or malfunctioned. Half-way through the battle he was forced to abandon the giant wear and switched to the Badlan. His first time using Funnels was disorienting, however they proved to be powerful weapons and allowed him to destroy whole groups of enemies with ease.

The Badlan was Flit’s wear of choice for quite a while, but he realized the Funnels themselves were designed improperly and the X-Transmitter he was using was rather weak, making the funnels difficult to control even with practice and focus. Even though the Badlan was a temporary success, it was a major stepping stone for Federation X-Rounder technology and helped develop the Pioneer Alpha.

Due to the Badlan’s X-Rounder nature and the difficulty in using its Funnels, the Badlan was not considered for Mass Production but a few models are kept around at X-Rounder Research facilities like Dr. Spriggans for reference and experimentation.

Speaking of funnel systems, I'm thinking experimenting with funnels on the Merlin is a bad idea. Dirk might be able to use them safely with proper equipment, but he's never shown any sign of the extrasensory abilities that make remote weapons so powerful. Well, he has, but they are paralyzingly painful and disorienting, so we can't count on them. Also, we let Yurika build them. There's no sign she's the traitor, aside from her connection to Zeheart, but I don't think it's wise to let ANYONE else modify our machine for the time being. At the very least we should take apart her miniaturized designs to look at them ourselves. It would let us check for any back doors and maybe we can find ways to improve them even further with nanotech capabilities. I'm sure she'd accept an explanation that we were just taking them apart out of engineer curiosity. That's something Dirk does enough that it wouldn't be suspicious if she is the spy.

Fair point, maybe I am overthinking this. It was supposed to serve as a shelter for the people whose colonies got wrecked, no need to assume something dark and sinister is hiding there. Maybe it even pulled double duty as a refueling and repair station. Now, with it gone, the Vagan can move around more freely while the Feds have to plan new routes for their ships.

>>26904717
Actually, we don't even have to go that far. Just upgrade the existing solar panels with nanotech and use them as new fuel sources. The problem with those things was that they have to be enormous to capture all the energy, and even then a lot of it went to waste. With our new technology, we should be able to create solar panels efficient enough to fuel the ships, while being small enough not to encumber them.
>>
>>26904957
True, we should be careful now that we know that there's a traitor on the ship.

Speaking of Dirk's X-Rounder powers, they didn't work on Zeheart. Maybe Zeheart's new helm-thing prevents mind rape? And even worse, Dirk's premonition sense didn't warn him that he's about to get shot - so either Zeheart found a way to become unreadable to X-Rounders, or Dirk's power have some sort of boot time.
>>
>>26905125
Dirk has never had reliable precognition, same with the spatial awareness. That's why I don't think he should have funnels. Those take ridiculous reaction time to use, so even if you can transmit your thoughts to them with X-waves that doesn't mean you can use them effectively. He wouldn't be able to coordinate them properly at range. Though I suppose close-in uses could be useful. Beam shields mounted on funnels could distribute the generation, like the fin funnel barrier or planet defensers. Or we could put beam blades on them and use them as a backup melee weapon if we didn't have time to draw a saber.

Overall Height: 19.0 Meters

Standard Weight: 45.8 Metric Tons

Pilot Accommodations: Pilot only, 360 cockpit in torso

Armaments:
DODS Vulcans/Beam Sabers x2 in forearms
Shiguru Sword x1
Funnels x12
Shield Binder x2

Optional Equipment:
DODS Rifle

Bio: After Mellis and Jake married, and Jake decided he wanted to rejoin the military, Mellis insisted that she join him. Not wishing his wife to get stuck with a stock mobile suit he scrapped Mellis’s Farsia and reworked it into a new mobile suit. However this suit proved too Vagan like and he was forced to modify it using a Pioneer Alpha Frame.

The Gwenvere is a X-Rounder use mobile suit featuring built in beam sabers/DODS
Vulcans in the forearms, a Shiguru Sword (based off the Spallows Shiguru blade), 12 DODS blasted Funnels, and four shoulder binders providing 360 degrees worth of protection, additional thrusters, and a safe place to store the funnels.

Mellis led the Camelot’s Round Table test team to victory many times using the Gwenvere and it has proved to be a very useful, if somewhat peaky mobile suit. Being a mash up of Vagan and Federation technology things don’t always work well on it. Despite its technical issues, Mellis will always prefer to pilot it.
>>
>>26905317
X-Rounder controlled beam shields do sound nice. As do beam blades. Maybe a combination of both, like the close-combat version of the C-Funnels from the AGE-FX.

As for his X-Rounder powers, it's also the lack of training that's in the way. And those glasses of his probably screwed with his powers - the moment he takes the glasses off, he takes the full burn of all his power being unleashed at once. Now that we have MID integrated with them, we could try to lower the inhibition a bit - see how we fare with 10% unlocked. Only to watch as Dirk enters X-Rounder frenzy like Girard did in Gen-3 and begins fucking shit up left and right.
>>
>>26905412
Actually, the King Arthur wear had something like that. And it was left behind on Ambat, possibly captured and examined by the Vagan later on.
So yeah, the Downes is going to be packing a Cyclops System besides a ridiculously powerful beam shield that can block a photon blast.
>>
>>26905748
We should have done more with microwave weapon tech. Sure, it's sort of a war crime, but if you focused the beam tight enough it would be like any other energy blast in how swiftly it killed you. That would remove the ethical constraints. And since it uses a magnetron instead of a lasing chamber, the same magnetic field technology developed for next gen beam blades and shields could enhance its power, too. A tight-beam microwave blaster would ignore EM Armor and even if the enemy was armored enough to take the hit would cause an electrical surge. Also, it's non-visible range. Sure, lasers somehow are visible in vacuum in Gundam, but the King Arthur's microwave cannon was invisible. So it would be really effective against X-Rounders. No ability to sense it ahead of time, because any premonition they got of it would just be them exploding without any perceivable reason.
>>
>>26905876
Yeah, it would have lots of uses. I think we used it for anti-X-Rounder tech, though - that's why it's lethal to the pilot whose MS is equipped with it. A blast from one of those things could probably avoid the Vagan EM armor completely, screw with their electronics and maybe even confuse or negate X-Rounder powers nearby. Combine it with the XCOM system, and you have something really deadly.
>>
>>26905985
I think that we need to take all the anti-X-Rounder concepts we can think of and combine them into one wear, because a fight with the Ghirarga is inevitable sooner or later. The main focus would have to be on unexpected and unconventional attacks so that precognition and clairvoyance don't matter as much. Microwave weapons with X-Coms are a good start. I think the nanotech would be a big help, as we could integrate secondary devices into everything we have. Like putting fullerene muscle fibers in the Scissor Anchors' cables, so that if the target tries to get out by cutting the line they could still coil around them and entangle them. Or making the EM Vulcan's bullets out of folded graphene sheets that can inflate to turn missed shots into decoy balloons. The original design document for the Merlin was that it had endless tricks up its sleeves. Let's go with that.
>>
>>26906138
Since when did the Ghirarga kill all the Fed X-Rounders? Gen 2?
>>
>>26906138
>Like putting fullerene muscle fibers in the Scissor Anchors' cables, so that if the target tries to get out by cutting the line they could still coil around them and entangle them.
Gundam Belphegor time?
>>
>>26906169
I believe that happened in the Novelization, which isn't tied to this quest. I don't think there were all that many X-Rounders in the actual animated series, besides Spriggan in Gen 3 I don't think we see all that many Federation X-Rounders besides the main characters.

I'm not saying you can get away with too much stuff, but combining what you have into a single wear would be useful and make sense for what you guys intended for the Merlin. Lots-o-tricks.

>>26906138
I endorse this line of thought. I mean you ARE fighting the Ghirarga, if you're caught with your pants down Zeheart's just going to use it to his advantage.
>>
>>26906169
Gen 3, since it normally wouldn't exist until then. Worryingly, it's specifically referenced as fighting a team of six X-Rounder pilots in Pioneer Alphas during an assault on Big Ring. Add Desil as an extra member because of timeline changes and you have the Magnificent 7. So...things could go badly for them. Maybe when we meet up with them we should upgrade the T-Bits to HY-DODS level of firepower. Might give them a better shot.
>>
>>26906235
Another reason why we should dock with Zarth and exchange all the data we have available eventually. Upgrade all the suits, Jake gets nanotech, we save Desil's parents and upgrade those wears we got from Solon (who I imagine have some sort of rivalry with Zarth over who makes better stuff in the Federation). Unlikely we'd have time for that, but it could be interesting. Bonus points for Flit coming over to oversee the project only to be stuck on the Diva with an angry Asemu and an even angrier Akito.

Also, didn't we have some giant chest cannon for this thing?
>>
>>26906233
Okay, here's a few ideas for anti-X-Rounder tech:

Beam smartguns. A gun that doesn't have to be aimed at the target is a good gun. X-Wave precognition don't accompany every dodged shot, a lot of them are just the spatial awareness powers. We have the extender rails on our HY-DODS, we can probably modify them to deflect the beam from the axis of the barrel. Much harder to deal with fire from it.

A melee equivalent of beam smartguns. Call them beam smartsabers or something, I don't know. Beam blades that automatically reshape themselves to adjust to dodging and parrying. The enemy dodges back from a slash? Beam blade extends midway into the swing so it still hits. Enemy dodges to the side from a thrust? Perpendicular extensions at the tip to catch them while retracting the sword. Target parries? Beam blade flickers off briefly to slip past and turns back on before connecting.

Anti-sensor lasers. Full laser weaponry is probably out for this generation, but low-powered blinding lasers should be possible. Make them a part of the lidar, shoots a short pulse of higher power when it paints the other suit's optics. Fully automatic, so it blinds everything that comes near us unless it has a friendly ID code. X-Rounder abilities can only do so much when you can't see.

Tesla cloak. A weak magnetic field holds a sphere of low-temperature plasma around us. The plasma serves as a medium to conduct powerful electrical shocks at anything that gets within ten meters or so. It wouldn't be strong enough to damage or even stun mobile suits, but anything human-sized is going down. Both Anansi drones, and particle bits would be susceptible.

Sensor motes, an application of nanotech. Basically just miniaturized cameras about the size of a mite, networked together. Spread them around like anti-beam chaff (they could probably work as that, too) and you've got a distributed network that should be able to compensate for stealth suits.

Anyone else got any ideas?

>>26906612
Speaking of Anansi, we should probably invest into something like an ark cannon or at least electrified nets. Both can also be useful against enemy suits. The ark cannon will fire electricity that's (I assume) going to be attracted to the enemy EM armor, frying it and the suit's systems in the process, or it will bounce from one suit / Anansi to another. As for the electrified net, it could both entangle the foe or outright shut it down.

Also, since we're going down nanotech route, have the nanobots replicate the quantum processors. Add multiple of those to a suit, and let it calculate enemy movements and priority. You get smart weapons that can coordinate with each other to trap or track the enemy down. You can even get automated turrets everywhere on the suit, like the AGE-FX funnel has, just without the X-Rounder dickery required.
>>
>>26906971
AGE-FX A-Funnel would be really nice to have. It doesn't actually need an X-Rounder, those funnels are completely automatic AI-controlled weapons. The only advantage to having an X-Rounder pilot it is that X-Waves let the pilot continue to give orders after they detach from the suit. Otherwise, remote applications are more like pressing the "attack here" button for party members in shooter games. Much less control, but they're still oldtype-usable funnels. Or whatever non-X-Rounders are called. X-Flatters? Whatever, point is they're really nice weapons. Strong enough to take down SID, too, so that's pretty awesome.
>>
>>26907078
X-Flatters? That sounds kind of neat to be honest.
>>
>>26907078
Yeah, but we have X-Com tech. Use that stuff on the funnels and they become capable of working on their own, and with some smaller AIs installed in them, they can even function independently of an X-Rounder pilot. Kinda like the Geth - a collection of smaller AIs coordinating and exchanging data to get maximum results.

And because each one is an independent unit, the enemy X-Rounder won't have to deal with one thing he has to concentrate on, but several. He dodges from one shot, but he can't dodge the other 16 the AIs have perfectly coordinated.
>>
>>26907098
Gundam demands silly names for its concepts. This was the problem with SEED and 00. Coordinator and Innovator are too plausible as names for a superhuman being. Likewise, the suits had too logical names. CE suits were all either evocative titles or just serial numbers, and AD suits have metaphors or allusions for names. Those are just boring. Where are the Ga-Zowmnns, the Hamma Hammas, the Bolinoak Samhains? That's what's fun about AGE. The Vagan suits have weird names, and the AGE Builder generates names randomly and ridiculously. Really, we're the odd man out by giving our Gundams an Arthurian naming scheme. At the very least we should use names of characters from French versions of the legend. The Gen 3 Gundam shouldn't be the Lancelot or anything like that. It should be Bedeviere or Bagdemagus.
>>
>>26907270
Considering how we'll have several new Gundams in Gen-3, we probably will have to dip into Welsh and French names as well.
>>
>>26907408
Well, we're going back to one protagonist, so we really only need two. One for the one we start with, one for the upgraded AGE-FX equivalent. Since the psychoframe/EXAM technology Jake's developing is called Grail, may I suggest Galahad and Sangraal? Galahad, who quested for and found the grail (well, in earlier legends it was Percival, but it was rewritten to Galahad because his youth and innocence made him a Christ analogue) would be the first suit, a prototype model designed to test the Grail system that gets pushed into actual battle when Vagan forces attack our Gen 3 character's home. The finished version, developed from its combat data, fully incorporates Grail technology into its design and is named after the Sangraal, a formal name often used to describe the holy grail.
>>
>>26907493
Fine by me. I guess Flit's grandkids are each going to get an AGE-3, so Jake's grandkids get an unique Gundam each.
>>

You say that as if Flit and Jake will not have grandchildren in common. I'm still hoping for AsemuxScarlet good end for this generation. And as Flit is somewhat less insane in this timeline, he probably won't brainwash Yurika or Akito's kids into being child soldiers. Though Kio can get an AGE-3. Maybe LEVIATHAN steals the blueprints or something.

Well it's getting late guys. This was really fun. Hearing your thoughts makes me very, VERY excited for Gen 3, but I don't want to rush things. Oh the things I have in store for you guys...

I've already archived this for later, so I'll see you guys next week. I'm probably going to have the next quest on Labor day, since that's when I have a day off.

Until then, keep on thinking!

Well, yeah, they will have some grandchildren in common.
And AsemuxScarlet is so far the best option. I'd like to see some more interaction between Asemu and Scarlet, instead of just mentioning it in the epilogue. Maybe they go to Zarth, or she comes to Solon, whatever. Jake gets to be commander of the Zarth defense force, Scarlet gets demoted because holy shit having a 17 year old civilian turned into a commander is a serious breach of procedure, and they all finally meet so we have one POV.
As for Dirk, no idea. Yurika is the childhood friend he hasn't realized he likes, and who has dragged him around everywhere and introduced him to all his friends, so I guess she's in the lead so far.

Sure thing man. See you next time.

Have a nice night, Crosswire. See you Labor Day. Fun as always, even if we were just brainstorming instead of questing.

Well, Rena's not far behind. Cute, smart girl who shares his interests and has a plot hook for intrigue with her arranged marriage to Olfenoa's kid. With her being at Big Ring at the same time as Dirk, we can get more interaction between them. And yeah, Scarlet being made commander really should get someone's attention, but given what we've seen the Federation military allow before, she'll probably stay in place. That would still give reason for her to go to Solon or Big Ring or whatever, though, so we can still unite the plot threads.

>yet another shitty metathread devoted to quests
This should really be a bannable offense.

Well, if Flit goes to Solon to investigate the rumors of a possible traitorous colony, he could start an investigation into who set Scarlet up for becoming a commander. Possibly even investigate what happened to Abis or why he entrusted her with the entire colony defense. They get the suits, go to Zarth to grab all the AGE builders so they can upgrade whatever they can, and from there all the plot threads are united.
