You are Percius Aurex, Captain of a raider-class pirate vessel. Formerly the 14th son of a noble family, you fled that life in search of adventure and to escape your status as a political pawn. Having volunteered to return to your home sector, Paxia, in order to secure information about a supposed gateway into the unexplored sector Corgus. A choke point of goods flowing into and out of the frontier sector, ripe for Lord Wilson's wolf pack to plunder. If you don't get caught and killed for being a pirate, that is. Your journey from Deus to Paxia encountered a small hitch, however, and the fickle nature of warp travel has cast your vessel and, thankfully, your partner's vessel into the year 340.M41. Undaunted, Captain Morix and yourself began your infiltration mission by visiting your home world, Garenthis.

Returning home under the name of the man you cut down to capture your vessel, Captain Menexel, you found that old enemies and old friends still thrived. Your family, not so much. Shortly after your escape from this forsaken world, your father and several siblings were assassinated. Assuming control of your noble family, your step-mother bled the family nearly to destruction until your eldest brother exposed her and her son as heretic cultists. Mortally wounded, your family name hangs upon the edge of oblivion, the various siblings left mostly to fend for themselves. Finding it impossible to not contact your younger sister Synne, you ended up adding both her and your older sister Alica to your crew before departing home once again.

Heading toward the Imperial Navy stronghold of Steward's Gate, you set out to further your mission upon a civilian station. Finding an information broker that wanted a massive sum of wealth for the information he claimed was what you desired, you departed his company under the guise of consulting with your partner, the obscene offer standing. Visiting a bar with Tes acting as your bodyguard, you eyed a few Imperial Navy officers as possible alternative sources of information. Choosing to engage the older man with a scarred face, bionic eye and an unmistakable air of authority, you ordered a pair of glasses with a good scotch.

"Excuse me, sir. Mind if I join you?" Sliding a glass of scotch before the older man, along with a third glass filled with ice and a pair of tongs, you occupy the seat beside him.

"Never turn down a free drink, son. Might be your last." Your new friend's voice is harsh and graveled, likely from the same wounds that scarred his face. "Lord Commissar Edward Hugh." Extending his hand toward you, the man smiles. "Don't worry, I can't execute civilian captains in a bar." As you politely accept his offered hand with a firm shake, his eye turns deadly. "Unless you're a pirate or heretic, Captain...?"

"Menexel. Dorn Menexel." You let a small bit of surprise show upon your face, but remain undaunted by the 'Lord Commissar'

"Dorn? A good, strong name there, Captain." Releasing your hand, the man's features soften. "Heading to Corgus then, Captain Menexel?"

"Once I find the way, Commissar Hugh. Bit of trouble finding the right information, though. I've faith that the Emperor will guide me toward the correct information, though I'll have to pay the fees to get it. I must ask, however, what a Lord Commissar is doing upon a civilian station in a bar." You weather the man's sour glance, though it is thankfully short.

"Quite a rude inquiry, Captain, but it has merit. You seem to have some knowledge of the Navy, then?"

"I served as a junior officer during the third Ionian Crusade before earning my own ship, Lord Commissar."

The Lord Commissar eyes you with a bit of new found respect and you soon find yourself parroting some of Captain Menexel's more exciting stories, thankful that you'd kept and read his journals. In little time, the conversation shifts to Commissar Hugh, and you discover that his mentor used to bring all of his cadets to this bar after deployments to celebrate the fallen and those left to do the Emperor's work. "To the fallen, Captain Menexel. May they serve the Emperor well at his side."

Raising your glass and doing your best to suppress a swelling feeling of guilt, you toast Captain Menexel's wife. "To Eril, Folkvangr hold her body and the Emperor her soul." Finishing your drinks, the Lord Commissar places a firm hand upon your shoulder. "You'll see her again, Captain. But not today." You give a weak smile, wondering if Menexel and his wife really are together at the Emperor's side. "I must depart, friend, but should you require assistance in your Emperor-given task, contact Steward's Anchor and ask if they've any work available. Mention me if needed, at times the junior officers need a good scare."
>>
>>26862132

"Emperor protects, Lord Commissar."

"That he does, Captain."

The Lord Commissar's departure finds you with an empty glass and two Imperial Navy officers remaining in the bar. The sullen looking officer seems well on his way to drinking himself into a stupor, his junior officers still rattling on about something. From the intense drawing upon pict slates, it seems to be a debate at this point. The female officer's little pack of women seems to have scattered about the bar, though you note that the entire group seems to be prowling for partners rather than real conversation.

One could possibly start by asking what brings a navy girl to a civi bar like this, feign feigning disinterest in the details to the extent of subtly encouraging her into explaining it further...

However, I would suggest talking with the drunk officer. hopefully he is on the fine line between loose lips and drunken slur... Opening with an offering of drink followed by an inquiring as to the toast...

Shaking off the lingering feelings from your conversation with the Commissar, you decide to indulge in a bit of female company. The officer is clearly aware of you, smiling as she puts away a hand fan emblazoned with an aquila and engages you first. "First Lieutenant Rebin Periun" extending her hand politely, she clearly studies you. "And who might you be, dashing sir?" Unphased by such things after the Lord Commissar, you take her hand and plant a respectful kiss upon it before introducing yourself and asking if the lovely lady would be interested in a drink. In little time the lieutenant is flushing red, her eyes predatory as her fingers play upon the moisture collecting upon her drink. You're certain that Tes has shot several very pointed looks toward your table, though she has clearly captured the bartender's attention and a seemingly free drink. Unless she's running a tab up on you out of spite. Did you pay for your drinks with the Commissar and this woman? Emperor, if Tes is running a tab on you... With a charming smile, you begin leading the Lieutenant toward giving you information about herself...

>First Lieutenant Rebin Periun
>Serves upon the Sword-Class Frigate 'Xiliam Sente' as one of the ranking gunnery officers
>Her vessel departs for sector Corgus in 12 hours as part of patrol group 'Torchbearer'
>She doesn't have to report to the shuttle back to her ship for another four hours
>She is enraptured by the fact you command a Partisan-Class Merchant Raider
>She hates returning home, and loathes her family's petty nature
>She's amazed by your Garenthian accent
>'There is something familiar about you' that she enjoys
>>
>>26864145

As her foot slowly begins tracing the side of your calve, she seems to tire of your conversations. "So, Captain. Will you be showing me to your ship or," her hand comes up and slowly opens, a key swinging from a small chain held within her fingers "perhaps my place?" In the edge of your vision, you notice that Tes is blatantly interested in your conversation.

>Her place

That'll give us an excellent reason to be skulking around the Navy's sector of the station afterwards.
>>
>>26864506

You're currently upon a purely civilian station. It seems that naval personnel visit via shuttle during their time off. The Navy maintains a separate anchorage known as Steward's Gate. [giving name to the system]
>>
>>26864651
Ah right, well that'd put us in a dicey situation. I'll change my vote to this then:

>Tour of the ship, then Captain's Quarters
Pour her another drink there and slip a mild drug in it, anything too hard and she'll notice the next day. Then I think we'll go pleasure before business.
>>
>>26864704
We should use her drug-induced stupor to learn as much about the Periun family as possible, they are enemies of the Aurex family. We can also ascertain whether she really does dislike her family or not.

THEN we can fuck her.
>>
>>26864206
>>26864704
>>26864753

Some part of you raises an alarm at the idea of bringing an Imperial Navy officer, even a drunk one, upon a pirate vessel.

Please confirm orders.
>>
>>26864806
Just sex her on her own ship then gently turn post-coital conversation in the direction of information on her family, who are enemies of the Aurex family.
>>
>>26864806
How drunk is she right now?
>>
>>26865037

Difficult to tell, though she is not slurring her speech and her foot seems to be stroking against your leg with a decent level of skill.

Of course, she could also have high quality augments that are hiding the effects of her drunkenness or the flushing of her face could be due to your presence.
>>
>>26865142
Can't risk it then, if we get marked as a pirate vessel we're fucked. To hers!
>>
"Yours, I think. My vessel is not docked, and it would eat into the time you have before you must report."

Her smile clearly agrees with your logic, her eyes quickly looking to the bar. "I believe we have tabs to settle, Captain. Business before pleasure."

You silently curse at the tab Tes' expensive taste in alcohol has run up, though it is well within your means to pay without notice to your personal funds. As the Lieutenant leads you to a rented quarters across the way, she motions to your bodyguard. "So do I get two for one, or are you two strictly professional?" Tes huffs, much to your arm-candy's amusement, stating that she'll just be reopening your tab. "I'll come interrupt you two if you take too long. Wouldn't want your new friend to miss her shuttle and be absent without leave." The two women exchange a sour look before you're practically dragged into the quarters.

Smooth skin presses down against your own, your exhausted lover's breathing heavy in your ear. Her arms slowly work their way around and under you as her body occasionally twitches in the aftermath of repeated intercourse. Your own chest presses up against her perky breasts as you inhale, perspiration upon both of your forms as the room's environmental systems turn over and blow cooler air upon your partner's nude form. Always the gentleman, you assist her in kicking and pulling a thin, soft sheet over her form as it shivers against you.

The small, analog chronometer on the side table reads '17:41'. "You're going to be late, Lieutenant Periun." A soft, disgruntled moan is her only reply. Strength returning to your body, you decide to take matters into your own hands before her absence brings unwanted attention from more Naval officers your way. "Lord Commissar Hugh noticed you looking our way, he might be looking for an excuse."

By 17:43 you're both stepping out into the station proper, the warmth of Lieutenant Periun's lips again pressed against your own. "I'll have the transponder and visual identification information of my patrol group sent to your ship, Captain. Emperor willing, we'll cross paths in the Galian Salient or when we return to Paxia." Blushing, she offers you her hat. "You mentioned being a fan of Millinery earlier, and a token seems fitting right about now, and I'll not be troubled for losing a hat that isn't part of my duty uniform."

Her words barely seem to register between the combination of exhaustion wracking your body and the thought that you just bedded Kerit Periun's younger sister after killing four of his men.

>Naval Officer's Peaked Cap offered!

Accept the offered hat, ensuring to suitably thank her. Have the hat checked for any form of bug, a cautious pirate is a surviving pirate...
Then see if we have a reply from Lord Wilson. If not, investigate the Navy Jobs. Might be a good way to get 'free' Intel, not to mention the chance to get some rep with some of the captains... Lord Wilson would probably like to know either how to avoid the patrols or who needs their palms greased to let our fleet slide on though...

>>

You're more than happy to add your conquest's hat to your collection, thanking her in a gentlemanly fashion. The woman's blush deepens, and you quickly find yourself in a lingering 'parting' kiss before she whispers into your ear. "I'll remember you, Captain." As she departs, you lament the presence of her greatcoat hiding her form from your view, though you're sure the image of her atop you will suffice for a dozen void trips. You probably shouldn't think that about a Periun.

Collecting an oddly happy Tes from a disheveled barman and mysterious lack of a tab to pay, you return to your vessel. There is a striking beauty to your ship as it hovers in orbit of the station, or maybe you're just in a really good mood after recent events. Entrusting your new hat to your hat skull for a more detailed search than your own, you instruct it to deliver the hat to Orsola or Advinessa for a final search for any sort of spying device. Elise seems to have your sister Synne hovering about as you reach the bridge, requesting a status update from your XO. "We've received a response from Lord Wilson, Captain. It seems that they too have encountered time displacement during warp travel. Worse news, however. They seem to have been scattered by a warp storm, and they've already found one of the rookie captain's ships. Poor bastards ended up in a system filled with orks. They don't seem to have warp-capable vessels, thank the Emperor, but Captain Hariso was forced to destroy the transport before he was chased out of the system. Only most of the wolfpack to go." Your XO rubs her head a bit. "One big damned adventure for them, though we have a much lesser worry of running out of food or fuel, here."

"How long do messages take to get to Lord Wilson?"
>>
>>26868133

"We're not exactly sure, but it is likely taking longer than it should due to Corgus' warp storms. The... astropath says it should take only two weeks or so for such distances. The sooner that psyker is off the ship, the better, Captain."

"Noted, Elise. For now, contact Steward's Gate and inform them we're looking for some leads on jobs to fund our Corgus expedition. If anyone asks questions, tell them Captain Menexel was instructed by Lord Commissar Hugh there would be jobs available." The attention of the bridge suddenly turns to you, mostly in the form of wide-eyed shock. "Anyone care to question my instructions?" Even more quickly, the bridge's attention turns away.

"Aye, Captain Aurex." snaps Synne, her face then turning concerned. "You look tired, Per-" Elise gently nudges your sister's ribs with her elbow "Captain. You could probably use some sleep."

>Calling it here for the night. I've acquired a bit of yet another job over the next two days that require fairly early mornings.
>If the thread survives the night I'll try to get a quick post done in the morning.
>Requests for specific mission types/ideas are very much welcome and will be considered, just remember the Navy is offering them.

Partial list of missions available from the Imperial Navy:
>Anti-Ork patrol
With Battlefleet Paxia's strength being extended into the Galian Salient of Corgus, the Imperial Navy is looking for privateer vessels to assist in patrolling uninhabited systems known to sometimes host lone orknoid ships. Fuel and Supplies are the main reward, in addition to bounty for vessels destroyed.

>Escort Duties
Both Navy and privately owned convoys seek additional ships to help deter pirate raids. While private convoys pay better, the Navy missions are more of a vetting process...

>Pirate Bounties
Several pirate vessels in Paxia are considered to be within your weight class, and at least one of them has overlapping Imperial and Private bounties. Though morale may suffer from the idea of doing such work, in the end you're eliminating future competition...

>Supply & Demand
Using the Commissar's name has given you a bit of useful information in the form of a short list of the most commonly requested goods for Corgus expeditions. Unsurprisingly, food is constantly on the top of the list. Though your ships aren't configured for such tasks, you could easily make a bit of profit from legitimate trade...

I'll be back around 4-5 pm EST
>>
The job itself isn't very relevant, it is more important that the reward somehow results in us figuring out how to get to Corgus.
We should inquire with that in mind.
>>
>>26875227
This is what I get for leaving the tab open for an hour and responding before refreshing the page

>Supply & Demand
>Escort Duties

Seems to me like a good way to get some trust from the Navy which will in turn get us closer to the information we want.
I'm in favor of doing this.

>Using the Commissar's name has given you a bit of useful information in the form of a short list of the most commonly requested goods for Corgus expeditions. We should notify our brother about that. Hopefully, he can make some dosh off of it.
>>
>>26875044
I'm interested in the Anti-Ork patrol mission as we have two ships that would be suited to the job and once we have made enough from blowing Orks up we can buy our information and try to do a Supply & Demand mission as our cover for going into the Corgus Sector where we will meet up with our merry band of outlaws.

>>
>>26876883

>>
>>26875266

Mayhap we could set up a supply station in Corgus which could sell the high demand goods... maybe even make an arrangement with Lord Wilson in regards to raiding to the extent that our station is one of the more 'reliable' places to resupply... also offers the potential to identify good marks for raiding... possibly allowing for some goods to be resold...
>>
finally back from work. Gonna take a bit to unwind and come up with a few specific missions.

Seems that most people are in favor of anti-ork patrol.

For clarification, most of the Supply/Demand info is based on what is being sold on the civilian stations at Steward's Gate. Most suppliers don't travel to Corgus due to lack of reliable information or not wishing to deal with the dangers involved.
>>
A short nap does you wonders, the fatigue of your earlier encounter reduced to a dull ache around your pelvis. Stepping from your quarters and no longer reeking of your encounter, you find that your hat has easily passed muster and your hat skull is carefully tending to the delicate hand stitching. Elise and Synne are still seemingly tied together, your sister's voice filling the plotting chamber. "I'm certain! That world has been plagued by ork pirates for nearly a decade!" The conversation quickly fades as you are noticed. "Do continue, but give me some context."

>Ork Patrol Missions:

Mission 1: 'Ferinox Patrol'
Projected time: 8 Months of Travel, 3 Months of Patrol [3.5 Months of supplies consumed]
Estimated Threat: lone, escort class orknoid ships.
Reward: Full ship resupply. 10 wealth per operation site visited. 10+ wealth per orknoid ship confirmed killed, depending on class.
Description: Patrol the uninhabited systems surrounding the world of Ferinox. Engage or report any orknoid vessels detected. 4 Civilian operations are located along the patrol route, and the Navy would appreciate hard copies of their traffic and Auger logs.

Mission 2: 'Barivia Patrol'
Projected time: 6 Months of Travel, 2 Months of Patrol [2.5 Months of supplies consumed]
Estimated Threat: lone, escort class orknoid ships. Larger vessels or squadrons have been encountered.
Reward: Full ship resupply. 20+ wealth per orknoid ship confirmed killed, depending on class. Bounty/Reward for rescue of Imperial ships in distress is likely.
Description: Patrol the uninhabited systems surrounding the world of Ferinox. Engage or report any orknoid vessels detected. You are cleared to destroy or attempt to reclaim any Imperial vessels that have been captured or boarded by orknoid raiders. Do not allow warp drives to fall into xenos hands!
>>
>>26884732

Mission 3: 'Recon Hert's Folly'
Projected time: 7 Months of Travel, 2 weeks of Patrol [1 Month of supplies consumed]
Estimated Threat: Unknown.
Reward: Full ship resupply. 200+ Wealth, depending upon local situation.
Description: Hert's Folly has been out of contact with the Imperial Navy for nearly two years. Recon the system and make contact with the mining operation or orbital station. Bounty offered for orknoid vessels confirmed destroyed, but this mission's main goal is establishing contact with the operation. If the system has fallen to invaders, obtain the best information you are able to.

"Your sister says Barivia has recently been plagued by ork assaults, including a massive rok that destroyed a Navy patrol group before being stopped. I wouldn't mind seeing home again, Captain." Elise eyes your sister with a hint of jealousy.

>>
I'm sorry, but cleaning houses all day has kicked my ass and my brain is dead tonight. Hopefully tomorrow's lighter load will let me run in the afternoon and get a post in before I vanish to work.

If you guys would like to debate your mission choice and discuss what other things you'd like to get done in Steward's Gate [you have a Captain to meet that should be back in a few days, and an information broker waiting for you to return.]

Assume 4-7 days of time to kill.

>>26885748
Well, our arm candy is gone right? So no fun there. Umm... We should probably take our sisters shopping at some point, which will undoubtedly be painful. Maybe train something if that's possible. Otherwise we'll just socialize with our people and take care of our business.
>>
>>26885865

could always use their shopping spree to train up our Barter skill... possibly also get a basic level in appraisal... Also spending time in bars practicing listening in on others conversations to make intel gathering easier on subsequent ventures...
