Predator Quest: Episode 51

You are Three-Claw, a Yautja hunter of the Cloud Viper clan. You have been tasked by your clan Matriarch to investigate breaches of forbidden knowledge by clan Weyland on the planet Fey'lenn, or Pandora, as it is known in the human tongue. Your investigations have ultimately led you to Earth - where you will strike out at Weyland-Yutani's headquarters.

You quickly backtrack your way towards the cargo lift, from where you entered, and reach the surface. With most of the personnel still scrambling to contain the leak, you easily slip past the few still active guards and return to your ship.

You lift off in the Wind-Adder, and dock with the human cruiser "Peregrine Celeste". You brief them on what transpired on your short away mission.

With the approach hopefully cleared, you maneuver your ship and place it on an intercept course for the planet Earth.

As you near Earth orbit, you receive a transmission from a nearby station, asking you to identify yourself.

Mickey responds with the ship's name and registry. The station takes a moment to verify this, and responds:

"Weyland-Yutani vessel 'Peregrin Celeste', your identity has been verified and you are cleared to approach. However, the landing window is only reserved for priority ships. You'll need to maintain orbit and wait in line. Waiting time is estimated to be about 16 hours."

Mickey looks at you.

Do you:

A. Affirm the request, and maintain you position in high orbit.
B. Bluff, and tell him you've got high value cargo bound for Dubai, and Weyland-Yutani will have his head if he doesn't clear a spot for you.
C. See if you can reason with him, and tell him you'll share the profit of your cargo with him if he lets you in.

"We should hurry," you tell Mickey. "See if you can reason with him. Bribery, perhaps."

Mickey nods, and re-opens the comm channel.

"Station oh-five, understood, but listen, I've got eight thousand tons of shellfish in the cryo hold that I need to offload immediately. I've already been delayed once, crossing through Sirius, and my cargo is close to spoiling.

"Tell you what, look the other way just this once, and when I collect my pay, I'll split it with you. What do you say?"

The comm goes silent for a moment. Then, after some thought, the station traffic director whispers, "How much are we talking about?"

"Eight thousand tons of seafood. At market price, it'll be at least 60 mil. You get 15, I get the rest. How does that sound? Come on, that's gotta be more than you make in a year!"

Another pause. "Alright. Tell you what, see that Star Cruise passenger liner making its de-orbiting burn? Follow him in. I'll pretend to not notice. Sort out your business, and pay me. If you don't, I'll report you, and I'll make sure they hunt you down for smuggling. Got it?"

"Yeah, thanks boss."

Mickey flips off the comms. He looks at his crew. "Let's go. Follow that passenger liner. By the way, any one of you got fifteen million credits? No? Didn't think so. We'll need to do some fast talking to get out of this one."

You slowly slip behind the large cruise ship, and begin your descent towards the surface. You hold your course steady for Dubai spaceport, hanging from a tethered space elevator far above the surface in low Earth orbit. You notice a lane specifically marked for Weyland Yutani ships, which leads you away from the main spaceport towards a private landing zone. Do you:

A. Divert and head for the Weyland-Yutani only lane.
B. Continue following the passenger liner and land at the public port.
C. Forego the landing and put your ship in a holding pattern near the space port.

>>B. Continue following the passenger liner and land at the public port.

You dutifully follow behind the passenger liner towards the floating spaceport.

Another transmission once again challenges you. "Peregrin-Celeste, this is Dubai port authority. Welcome to Earth. Your ship has been registered. State your business here on Earth so we can direct you to the appropriate docking pad."

You should respond:

A. "Dropping off cargo."
B. "Dropping off a few passengers."
C. "Coming in for scheduled maintenance."
D. "Official corporate business, so none of yours."
>>
>>26852437
C. Doesn't require us to drop off cargo, which we have none of.

We've already lied once about that. May as well keep our lies straight.
>>

>D.

You have a whispered discussion with Mickey, and come to a consensus.

He responds over comms, "Official corporate business, so mind your own."

"Ah... understood, Celeste. Usually, you corporates have your own pads, so I just assumed..."

"Yeah, well, don't assume anything. Just give me a pad somewhere, preferably away from traffic."

"Understood. Loud and clear. Pad D-6 is clear. Just follow the guide drones in. Should I inform Corporate and have them send a reception team?"

"Negative. We'll take care of it ourselves. Out."

With that, Mickey shuts off the comms and guides your ship towards the assigned landing pad. The ship shudders as docking clamps engage, and you're secured fully to the platform.

Mickey hooks the ship into the station's information network, and begins to sift through a variety of data.

"This is bad," he mutters. "Several more attacks on Colonial outposts." He turns to you. "Looks like Weyland-Yutani is putting the blame on you guys. They're demanding action from the armed forces to retaliate."

You gesture to your team, and motion for them to gear up.

"Mission first, " you tell Mickey. "Let's make it fast."

"Right. Two ways down to the city. You can ride the space elevator down, or take your ship."

You say:

A. "We'll take the space elevator down."
B. "We'll take our ships."
C. "Let's split up. Half of us will take the elevator, half of us will be take the ships, for cover."

B. "We'll take our ships," you tell him.

"Right. We'll keep an eye out from up here."

You look outside. It is night time. The darkness provides perfect cover for your approach.

You motion Sharp-Strike and Burning-Scythe to follow you to your ship, while Ashen-Blade and Seeking-Eye rides with Steel-Arrow's ship.

You engage the stealth systems and slip out of the Peregrine Celeste's hangar and drop towards the planet's surface below.

The city looms before you as you approach, and you're greeted by a vista of a sprawling urban hive. Tall, neon buildings separated by dark, claustrophobic streets.

The tall, dark, featureless spike jutting forth from the dead center of the city is your target. It's surrounded by hundreds of shorter but no less austere towers sporting a variety of logos.

As the city spills forth from the center, you notice more and more clumps of slums ringing the outskirts, where buildings become significantly less sterile in design.

You'll need to find a place to land.

Do you:

A. Head for the outskirts of the city, towards the slums.
B. Head straight towards the center of the city.
C. Head straight for the WY headquarters tower, and recon its roof close up.

You direct your ship towards the mass of office towers, broadcasting their logos in bright neon.

As you descend, you begin to notice millions of hover cars zipping across the skyline, like swarms of bees. You carefully guide your ship to thread between the lanes of high speed vehicles, still undetected.

Do you:

A. Take your ship downwards to the ground level, where traffic is thinner, and find a place to land.
B. Look around you, and find a tower with a convenient roof upon which you can safely land.
C. Cruise between the towers, hiding among the hover-cars, and head for the Weyland tower.

You angle your ship downward, past the bulk of traffic, and survey the city at the ground level.

You find several gardens flanked by buildings, and well decorated walkways which thread through them. Most of the major towers also sport small plazas in front of their ground level entrances.

You also notice a variety of entrances to access the underground. A cursory scan with your vision confirms large parking structures underneath the city.

Do you:

A. Set down on top of a garden.
B. Head inside one of the underground car parks.
C. Hug the ground and head closer towards the Weyland tower.

>>

>>
>>26853169

>>
>>26853169
That's probably one of the plans since Ashen-Blade and Mickey told us that investigators from the CM side are also being targeted by Wey-Yu. They could definitely use the info.

>>26853190
Am I the only one getting a feeling that the operation would get busted because of a dog barking or some garden sprinklers activating?
>>
>>26853252
I think C was a better option just because it would save time. Once the guy realizes he's not getting 15mil credits things are going to get nasty.
>>
>>26853252
I'm more worried about getting to close to the Weyland building in our ships. If I remember correctly they can see through our cloaks easier now because of the stolen tech. I have a hunch that they would probably install some sort of scanner for cloaks since they know we are coming for them.
>>
>>26853190
>>A. Set down on top of a garden.

You perform a quick thermal scan, and detecting no human signatures, you begin to look for an appropriate landing spot.

You choose a dense, artificial glade next to a tall bank of hedges and set your ship down underneath its foliage. You keep the stealth drive running, and carefully step out.

You survey your surroundings. The city is quiet, though you notice flurries of movement from within the massive towers surrounding you. It seems very few humans prefer to be outdoors at this hour.

You gather your team, and carefully move out towards the tower.

Suddenly, Seeking-Eye pulls you towards the ground, and directs your attention to several figures far ahead. They seem to be standing guard. You carefully circle around them, but as you approach the Weyland HQ, you notice the synthetic patrols get denser and denser.

You also notice several large, hovering spherical drones, similar to the floating mines you encountered in the upper Fey'lenn orbit, flying around above you.

Seeking-Eye points towards the ground.

Do you:

A. Proceed on foot, and avoid the patrols to the best of your abilities.
B. Find an entrance and head underground.
C. Climb to the top of a nearby tower and observe the patrol patterns.
>>
>>26853272

>> A. Proceed on foot, and avoid the patrols to the best of your abilities.

You continue pushing forward on foot, preferring to thread through narrow alley ways rather than head for open ground.

As you carefully walk through a narrow alley flanked by a business bar and a penthouse, you suddenly hear a loud shout nearby. You quickly signal your team to halt and press your back against the wall.

You peek your head out of the corner and watch a human male stumbles out of the nearby bar, arches over, and begins to vomit.

Several synthetic guards quickly rush over, and upon identifying the man, begins to question him. You notice a small card on the floor, a few meters from the scene, likely inadvertently dropped by the man, which has a Weyland-Yutani holo-logo embedded upon it.

Do you:

A. Attempt to sneak over and grab the card. (DC: Medium-Hard)
B. Wait until the synthetics escort the man away.

You remain still. A further round of questioning later, the man begins to grow restless. He starts shouting wildly, which attracts the attention of several more synthetic guards. Together, the synthetics begin to restrain the man and escort him away from the premise. One of them notices the card on the ground, picks it up, and follows his comrades out.

With a large number of synthetic guards in the area distracted, you signal your team and press forward.

The Weyland building is now within sight. You crouch next to an adjacent tower, and observe carefully.

You notice several things. First, there are five large spherical drones constantly circling around the HQ. They occasionally pause to spray something into the air. Second, the main entrance leading to the lobby is heavily guarded by no less than twenty synthetics, with six of them toting heavy mini-guns.

Do you:

A. Find a good vantage point and get a better look at the HQ.
B. Sneak around to the other side of the HQ and see if you can spot any secondary entrances.

>>B. Sneak around to the other side of the HQ and see if you can spot any secondary entrances.

You carefully circle around the building, and survey the entire structure. There doesn't seem to be any other entrances - at least none that are easily visible. You thumb over your utility belt and run your fingers over the breaching sheet.

If you want to enter, it looks like you'll either have to knock down the front door or make a hole in the wall. You look up, and spot several balconies jutting out on the 10th and 15th floors.

You hear a mechanical whirring sound approaching you, and motion for your team to hug the ground.

You carefully observe as one of those large spherical drones fly past you, and come to a stop a ways in front of you. It hovers, emits a loud hiss, accompanied by a mist of strange fog.

It hovers in place, spins a few times, and resumes its flight.

Burning-Scythe tunes his visor and begins to study the mist up close.

"Organic micro-chaff. Safe to ingest, but specifically designed to counteract our stealth systems," he tells you. "The whole building is probably filled with it."

He studies your armor. "You might have a chance to compensate with your advanced cloaking systems, but our cloaks will be compromised the moment we touch the gas. If you get me in there, I might be able to find a way to dilute the mist."

You acknowledge.

Do you:

A. Tell your team to cover you outside while you scout solo.
B. Take Burning-Scythe with you and have the rest of the team cover.

You motion for your team to wait for your signal as you quickly sprint from cover towards the Weyland tower.

As you pass through a cloud of mist, you notice your cloak drop momentarily. Your skin begins to shimmer and arcs of lightning leap from point to point. Then, as your advanced stealth system begins to compensate, the shimmering dies down.

Your cloak re-engages, but you find it to be somewhat more visible as you move.

You quickly check around you to make sure no eyes are on you, and begin to clamber up the wall. Ten stories later, you grip the balcony railings and pull yourself up.

You scurry over to a tall, sliding, transparent door and press yourself next to it. Inside seems to be a large, empty office.

Knowing what to look for now, you turn your vision to tech model and quickly peek inside.

There doesn't seem to be any trace of the microchaff gas inside.

You check the door. It seems to be locked solidly shut.

Do you:

A. Breach it.

Your team acknowledges. Quick-Shadow unloads the two heavy caliber spear guns from his back and hands one to Ashen-Blade. Together, the duo slinks off into the darkness, looking for a vantage point.

The rest of your team carefully crosses over to your position, careful to avoid patrols, and join you on top of the balcony.

With the team in place, you focus on creating the entrance.
