Recap: You are ANON, the RED JOKER. In our last instalment, you engaged ENFER and ASURA in combat - A battle interrupted by the sudden appearance of the CORRECTOR, MEGAERA.

Through accelerated senses, the world unfolds in slow motion.

The fizzing *hiss* of the tachyon arrow impaling your chest - Particles of light fuming from the seething length - the balletic spiral of your three remaining Interceptors, circling you in defensive velocities, the micro-fractures skittering over your armour, the grind of Enfer's servoes beneath his brass armour...

All that, eclipsed in an instant by the Corrector that just fell out of the sky. This close, Megaera's shard-wings *shriek* in fractal disarray, like a chorus of the damned: The vaguely canine head twisting in silent fury, molten spittle drooling from a shark's maw of ragged teeth. It reminds you, vaguely, of a flayed manticore - Something taken apart and hammered back together, metal plates were skin should be.

Behind you, Asura struggles to his feet - The crushing field of your Graviton Cannon dissipating, slowly, the line of light from his last shot still fading. The ground is cracked and buckled beneath the grinding impact of your heavy weapon's blast - So is his armour, contorted by the terrible pressure.

In front of you -

Wisps of distortion boil away from the Crisis Arm, as Enfer sprawls in the vertical crater you've made in the onyx facade of a building - His hands gripping the edges, wrenching himself forward and upright. His jaw is mangled, half-crushed from your punch: Fragments of ceramic and metal shards flaking away. You hear the hum of rising power, red light flooding through the seams of his superheavy armour...

Megaera snarls, as the black chain around it's neck rattles, dragging it to face Enfer - You sense seething fury, predatory hunger, torment, as it crouches to spring. The Sinistral's pane of force crackles, the surface of the shield blazing with captured fires - Tongues of fire coiling and writhing in a scarlet inferno.

Cobalt boost the Tempest Scrander to get close to Asura and slice and dice him with flaming Sinistral before he can recover, while Megaera hopefully keeps Enfer busy. We can deal with Enfer's fire, but not Asura's arrows.
>>

Well, fuck. Close in on the archer, and blast him with vulcans and rifle bits until we can cut his head off with our shield.

We can't take too many more hits from that bow of his.

'lo OP. Enjoy your weekend? Mine featured a pub crawl where I was designated driver.

Punch Asura with the Crisis Arm (paying with meter). Don't want to get shot in the back again.
>>

Go for Asura. Focus on smashing that bow of his.
>>
>>26834587

"Don't you look at me like that or I'll get a bigger bug zapper next time you ugly mutt. Get that bastard."

Our Crisis is up and our shield is super charged from chowing down on Enfer's flames, blast Asura once more with the Gravity Gun and bumrush with our Sanic speed from the Carnifex and give 'em a wallop the same we did to Enfer.

Maggie should hopefully keep Enfer occupied while we deal with Asura. Hopefully.
>>
>>26834587
Launch our remaining Bits. Hit Asura with the Graviton Cannon again, it should have charged I think?
>>
>>26834662
Dude, don't tease the corrector that already hates us. It looks like Hellebore is having a hard enough time keeping it on task.
>>
>>26834684

Well, we could strip it down and sell the copper and brass that it is made of if we do end up eventually killing it. Make a pretty penny too considering how much copper goes for now.

Just a friendly reminder the OP had to save our ass. Again. Because we decided to try our luck fighting two extremely dangerous adversaries without backup.

Not like he could really fuck us over too badly now even with a bit of ripping at Maggie and electrocuting 'em again.

The Tempest Scrander at your back *flames* - Kicking you forward, a horizontal rush that's half-flight, half-running. You're a flaming bullet, the world blurring at it whips pasts you - Your Interceptors somehow managing to keep up, stitching the air with three intersecting particle rays...

The forearm sheath on your right arm retracts; Your Plasma Vulcan roaring to life, spitting green bolts across the distance - The streaking blasts seem slow, almost lazy, drifting through the air in pulses of strobing light...

Asura's hit once, in the shoulder. He's hit again, in the leg, as your gunfire cuts across him - Rifle Bits carving a slashing, molten furrow up and across his torso armour, searing through it into the myomer fibres below...

He fires anyway. Three tachyon arrows zip away from his bow, so *fast* they become laser-flashes. Rattled by the constant impact of your shots, he misses high - With the first one. It slashes past your helmet, so *close* your sensors momentarily blur to static; Sparks crackling and dancing across cohered red plate.

The second shot takes out two Interceptors. At once.

One moment, they're there, spitting their steady rays of spite - The next, they're reduced to expanding clouds of sharpnel and focusing lens.

The third one hits your Cobalt Booster, and explodes it in your chest.

(Gentlemen, I'm terribly sorry. He rolled a natural crit.)

There's a flash of pellucid blue flame, and you feel every breath you've ever breathed explode from your lungs. It's too sudden, too abrupt, for you to feel pain - There's just the sensation of a tremendous impact, a *shattering*, then a gout of searing heat roiling out from you...

If your Cobalt Booster wasn't already mostly exhausted - The channelled force would've turned you into an roiling fireball, fragments of crystal and buzzing circuitry erupting outwards from the explosion; The Tempest Scrander fizzes with sudden sparks, a long, awful *groan* as it nearly cuts out in the fitful eruption, warning telltales jagging red and awful across your HUD-

ERROR

ERROR

The pressure is *immense*, crushing. You can actually *feel* it punch through you - In one terrible heartbeat - as the tachyon arrow shatters through your Tempest Scrander, crunching it upon itself in a violent electronic squeal-

You don't slow. You don't stop.

Your armoured legs snap like shears, as you lunge - Stagger and stumble and almost fall, carried by your own momentum -

>>26834660

Asura's fighting to bring his bow up, to reorientate on you. You get the feeling, dimly, he's trying to strike at you with the bladed inserts on the 'arms' of his weapon...

-But he's just too slow.

You you bring the Sinistral around in an unstoppable flaming arc, and slash Asura's bow in two. You can hear metal *scream*, as the flaming edge carves through endosteel like a hot knife through butter - Coils of hungry fire clawing at him, as you complete the swing. That one violent swing comes close to cleaving Asura in half...

He flinches back.

You take his right arm off just beneath the shoulder, instead.

We still do have Carnifex speed.

Also, we can use the nihl sphere to power codebursts.

We *may* want to use it to power consume, since we're really, really low on hp

He's caught completely off-guard, as you smash your crested helm into his. The sound is a merciless metal-on-metal CLANG; It's utterly unexpected, Asura's less-resilient faceplate actually *crumpling* beneath the blow - Asura's backward-jointed legs contort weirdly as he tries to keep his footing...

And then the Sinistral erupts in his face. The energy field comes to pieces, a directed concussive charge; Flaming hard-light sharpnel, incendiary shards that embed themselves in his armour like a dozen tiny throwing knives.

He fires, anyway. The shot goes wild - The pulse burst slashing skywards, erupting in a brief flash as it decoheres; Smoke rising from the barrel in his arm, as it fights to cycle-

You don't give it the chance.

> "Who would benefit from your death?"

"W-"

>>26835050
>>26835090

The Nihl Sphere's awful light cuts out his last words. The talons of the Helix Gauntlet bite through that death's-head helm: Jagged tendrils of violet electricity coursing up your arm - And *into* you, the Sphere glowing like a baleful eye -

His head *crunches* inwards beneath the merciless, mutilating pressure. Green motes of light surge outwards, swirling lines of them drawn through the cracks in Asura's lightweight carapace; Your HUD registering the slow renewal of your own form, myomer fibre spontaneously regenerating, the charred crater in your chest glowing with burning schematic lines that sketch themselves into reality...

The Carnifex only affects RJ's physical abilities, not cooldown times on his gear. It doesn't matter if we get an extra turn if the time it takes the emitters to drop and recharge stays the same.

>>26835202
Oh awesome. Who says using your head never works? Let's see if we can get seconds.
>>

Ah, I had always pictured it as a bastardized Move-By-Wire when turned on. The stats and extra initiative passes.
>>
>>26835236
Good way of thinking about it. Except, even in Shadowrun you don't get all your initiative passes at once. Normal turn order happens, then the extra turns resolve.
>>
>>26835236

Asura's form actually withers, in your grasp. Entropy takes an immediate toll, as if his armour has lost all impelling force in mere moments: There's the sensation of resistance, a shrieking electronic whine that dissolves into white noise...And then his form simply falls apart, greying as the husk smashes into the ground - Like a hollow shell, crumbling into a swirling cloud of ash as the last, dissipating motes of Essence whirl around you like a cluster of radioactive fireflies.

Behind you, you hear the shriek of white-hot claws against brass armour, a cacophony of spitting snarls and howls - enough that you can't tell *who* they're coming from.

Megarea's great, flayed weight has come smashing down on Enfer - Those hideous jaws wrenching at his arm, as Enfer's free hand (The little you can see of him) slams repeatedly into the side of it's head.

It's pinning him, his armour beginning to glow with sullen heat as they fight to pierce through...The whirring blurs of Megaera's shard-wings grinding away at his form, with a dull sound that reminds you of an industrial belt-sander.

The seconds seem to stretch on forever, as the Longinus Railgun sketches itself into being: The long-barreled rail rifle's brace linking to your sensors, targeting data sketching itself across your HUD as a pair of crosshairs overlap-

It's a tough shot, even from this range - Made so by the way both combatants simply refuse to *stop* moving. You're not sure if someone, somewhere, has heard you - Because suddenly, Megaera's feral growls change in note and pitch; Sounding almost distressed, muzzle wrenching from side-to-side...

-And then the percussive *bang* of a detonation. It's not especially large, compared to the explosions you've already heard today - But the Corrector's canine form reels back violently, thrown back onto it's hind legs-

It goes over, with the *crash* of an tree falling in a storm. For a moment, all you can see is the smoke coiling upwards - Then the sickly, ropy tendrils of gore and oozing flesh coming from where the Corrector's lower jaw *should* be.

"Bad *dog*," Enfer growls, his words near unintelligible through his mangled jaw. His armour glows with red heat, deep gashes in the surface - But he's still in one piece, as he propels himself to his feet...

And clears the shot.

>How long has it been since we've been able to use the railgun at optimal range?

Once we started getting alternate weaponry, and the meter power that lets our special weapons gain us meter(this defraying their cost), we changed our playstyle up to rely on that, instead of vulcanning ALL the time, building/saving meter, firing guns at choice moments...
If anything, we lost a bit of our mad skills in the rush to try out new guns

I have a newfound respect for melee. It builds meter -fast- and doesn't take any.

Your first hypervelocity slug smashes into his oversized left arm, at several times the speed of sound. It almost - *almost* - wrenches it entirely off, as the impact turns him brutally to the side; You can hear metal structure snapping, then an electronic *squeal* as the generator-orb goes dead, bracelets of shattered armour rattling against his ravaged limb-

Your Longinus Rifle cycles. The charging coils cycle up, as another gauss slug snaps into the breech.

This time, you aim for center mass - Right at the glowing target over his heart. The Argus System takes a moment, processing data; Then the electronic handshake with your sensors, the golden chime of a good lock. In the split-second before your finger tightens on the trigger, Enfer finds his footing, half-torqued by your maiming shot...

His eyes narrow, the molten slash of his scar glowing with the same awful light.

When you fire, your aim is dead-on. A heart shot, going for the kill.

But your hypervelocity slug - At the last, impossible moment - slams into something. *Through* something. Into a fizzing, transparent-to-translucent wall of interlocking hexagons, overlapped and stacked and shuffled like card sleighs, splintering one after another like sheet glass...

-Before it stops.

You've seen this before.

"Joker-" Enfer's voice is raspy, the emerald light of his chest reactor giving a ghoulish cast to his features. "...You don't have the balls."

His right hand comes up - You hear the clunk-clunk-clunk of revolving chambers cycling - and spinning black shapes tumble across the distance, whirling on their own axis. Four at once, rotating serenely as they're lobbed high; Beginning to iris open, like the petals of a flower-

The Argus System's milimeter-wave sweep picks out the quad targets, against the sullen red sky - Each one registers as the beginnings of a gravimetric reaction, a hyperdense mass that smells of dead suns...

The Plasma Caster roars, and you blast the first spinning shape from the air - The Tau Gun's targeting laser highlights the second, before a pinpoint shot annhilates it. In the same smooth motion, you sweep the Caster across, the barrel still glowing red-hot: Your Rifle Bit lances an ice-blue particle stream at the projectile, playing the seething ray across it's surface-

It's not an explosion.

Instead, you're wrenched violently off your feet - Pulled into the air, hurled into a head-over-heels tumble: As a vortex whirls around you, a powerful suction field that drags everything towards itself. Your repaired Tempest Scrander sizzles to life; Fighting to break you free from your mad tumble, as sharpnel and loose debris is drawn into the reverse typhoon, your last remaining Interceptor hurled into the hungry abyss-

The double-implosion is a kind of anti-noise: A momentary dark, throbbing glow that expands into a matter-annhilating flare. Somehow, your fingers dig into the ground - You hang on, for dear life, Tempest Scrander firing fitfully as great craters are chewed into the ground by the screaming nothing...

The pressure stops, without warning. The air is clear, still and dead.

In the narrowing space between you and Enfer, two perfect half-circles have been scooped from the ground; The building bordering the street now looking distinctly worse for wear, curving scars in their structure.

"Still with us, friend?" Enfer's rasping voice breaks the sudden, unnatural silence. "-Give me an excuse: I'll burn it all down and *choke you with i-*"

The Argus System chimes. Target lock.

You interrupt him with a pair of missiles. They lift from the Triskelion launchers on your back, burning towards him on the first and final flight: Panels on his shoulders ratchet open, filling the air with countless flechettes the size and shape of tiny ball-bearings...

-Not ball-bearings. Micromunitions.

The incendiary pellets erupt in a wash of flame. They touch off your missiles, scarlet fire and blue napalm making for an eye-searing mid-air inferno. Through the heat-haze, you see Enfer take a knee: Bracing himself, his eyes glowing as he cycles through his arsenal...

You reach behind you - The Graviton Cannon disengaging, as you wrench it free. The weapon swings around to target him as you level the oversized gun-

You wrench the triggers.

WHAM. You actually *hear* it from here: Like the fist of an angry god, crushing down from above. The invisible gravimetric force slams down on Enfer, curling him onto himself...

And you let fly with the Chain Mine.

(Continued)

>>26835828

The one-shot launcher lips smoke and flame, the honeycombed cluster projectile streaking across the distance: Mid-flight, it break aparts, scattering proximity-fused magnetic explosives - Homing in on Enfer, they slam into his shield, in dozens of tiny fireballs, chewing ragged holes through the remaining hard-light hexagons that rotate desperately to shield him...

He fires back.

With a mortar.

The shell loops towards you on a parabolic arc - Plunging down from above, on the heels of the shot's hollow BANG; You get the Sinistral up, but it's a premature motion - It falls short, slamming into ground...

-The ground begins to rumble. Cracks skitter across the devastated street, as the bottom drops out of your stomach; You hear the great, tortured groan as the buildings begin to shudder - A spontaneous earthquake, as the solid ground beneath your feet begins to shift.

"What th-" Enfer's attention wavers from you, just for an instant - He has his head up, as if scenting the wind - something uncertain in his stance, tendrils of smoke coiling up from the launcher in his knee-

I'd say hit him into the ground this time, instead of off into space.

Something tells me he made more boom than he intended to.

Activate Tempest Scrander to get us off the ground so the earthquake doesn't shake up our aim. Follow up with more missiles or another chain mine.

This started as a 2 vs ohfuck match.

Enfer and Asura vs us.
>>
>>26835902

With it's jaw blown off, the warped creature's thrashing has stopped - The chain collar at it's throat drawing *taut*, pulling relentlessly; It twitches, like a dog with nightmares, ropy gore pooling around it as that awful, flayed form bleeds molten metal.

>>26835894

...It's not just him.

You feel it too - Something in the air. Your Argus sensors whirr and click in their arcing sweep...

-Movement. Lots of movement. From all around...But mostly from beneath the earth. The Longinus Railgun materalizes in your fist, as the Graviton Cannon clamps to your back-

Your Tempest Scrander coughs sparks, as you trigger it; Throwing a judder into your flight pattern, as you aim down at the sights at Enfer's motionless form. Too late, his attention snaps back to you - The accelerated slug splinters through the last of his defensive barriers, the impact swatting him flat on his back-

He's still in the process of hauling himself upright, when you blast him with the Tau Gun.

Whether by accident or by design, Enfer turns - His oversized left arm hit dead-on, the limb twisted, swelling within it's remaining shreds of armour; And then, without warning, it *bursts*, in a smoky explosion that nearly flings him from his feet.

"ENOUGH with the ARM!"

You can hear the frustration in his rasping *roar*, wrenched from deep in his chest. Enfer's shoulder binders spit forward a storm of micro-munitions, and the world around you vanishes in racing blossoms of flame. Smoking, charred, your Scrander's blurts coming in irregular spasms of thrust, the blast hurls you from the air-

>>26835887

And you turn your fall into a lunge, and smash Enfer from his feet with the Crisis Arm.

The impact sends a shockwave up your arm, as it piledrives him into the ground - The street splinters beneath his weight-

...And everything goes *downwards*. You don't know what it was - The implosion devices, the chain mine or any of the highly destructive attacks you've traded - but the crushing weight of Enfer's form slamming down one final time...

...Well, it's the last straw.

Down.

There's a vicious jerk, and you're wrenched forward - With your armour shed in one ablative burst, flames chewing at the exposed myomer fibres, you're lighter than Enfer is. Your Tempest Scrander struggles to adjust to his sheer weight; His flailing fingers sinking into your arm, and *hanging on*-

His helmet smashes into yours, in an ironic echo of the headbutt you used on Asura. You're not braced for this one, and the blow actually shorts-out your HUD for a moment, scrambling your sensors - Then there's only the disorientating plummet, Enfer's unyielding weight wrenching at you, the jarring impacts of debris slamming into your back -

Down.

Then the ground rushes up beneath you, and the force is so total, so all-consuming, you actually black out.

...

The fuzzing snow fades from your vision.

It's dark.

You're in...a vast space. That's the first impression your sensors give you - You're sprawled on the circular floor of a chamber; Deep lines etched into white marble, forming concentric rings. A crack skitters across your ocular sensor, as you look up-
>>
>>26836211
There's a obelisk before you - Rising from the innermost ring, coming to a spiked point. The surface looks smooth and unmarred, in the uneven light that fills the chamber. Far, far above, you can make out the ragged hole that must've been the street above...

You try to push yourself to your feet -

Your left arm's missing. There's a ragged stump where it ends, sparks flickering weakly from the exposed myomer fibre. You feel oddly unbalanced - From the knee down, your right leg ends the same way.

Close by, your hear the *clunk* of pistons, the grind of servoes -

"Aaagk." Enfer's voice is a low rasp. He's just a dark silhouette somewhere in front of you - The orb in his chest cracked, pawing at the ground with his remaining arm. He seems hunched over, as he gets to an elbow - He's turning his head, as if there's something wrong with his vision.

"Gkkkkk-" There must be something wrong with his voxponder, too, because he's only making those hideous, crackling noises.

So... Is this thread supposed to be bumped until OP returns or will he make a new one?
>>

Exec_Consume yields essence for both us and the Sphere, on top of providing healing. Given that the Booster's at twenty, it benefits us to get Enfer as well.

>Exec_Consume yields essence for both us and the Sphere
I just went to the pastebin.
It doesn't say anything about us getting Essence.

>As long as physical contact is maintained with a target, the Gauntlet begins to absorb the subject's Essence, functioning as a channel for the Nihl Sphere.

>A portion of the siphoned Essence is converted into vital energies - Gradually replenishing the user's HP and Meter.

It only talks about charging NIHL and healing us.

Regardless, we're on 14% HP.

We sorta need to eat Enfer. Also, the Joker is turning into more of a boogeyman by the second

>>"Wait, now he can also turn our soul into clothes?"
Wait, can we even use NIHL essence to get upgrades? Or do we use EXP essence exclusively?

Fuck, I want to finally get us a new upgrade.
Did we even decide on a progression path? I know that we speculated on getting essence boost twice.
