Predator Quest: Episode 50

You are Three-Claw, a Yautja hunter of the Cloud Viper clan. You have been tasked by your clan Matriarch to investigate breaches of forbidden knowledge by clan Weyland on the planet Fey'lenn, or Pandora, as it is known in the human tongue. Your investigations have ultimately led you to Earth - where you will strike out at Weyland-Yutani's headquarters.

You carefully survey the installation from up on high as you slowly descend. You see what looks to be a cargo platform to load and unload cargo, and a massive series of hangars holding ground side transports.

Many large antenna arrays of varying sizes litter the premise, with the largest being at least one kilometer tall.

The installation is heavily guarded - you see dozens of synthetics patrolling the premise.

Where would you like to set down?

A. Near the largest and tallest antenna array.
B. Follow the cargo haulers to the cargo platform.

>>C. Behind the series of hangars.

You carefully evade a series of shuttles awaiting lift off and set your craft down behind the array of hangars, and exit the craft.

You make your way behind one of the larger hangars, and take stock of your surroundings. The base is rife with activity. Ships continuously take off and land. Several synthetics patrol near your location, but you're able to evade them with little difficulty.

You tune your visor towards the various antennae around the facility. The only one that seems to be active is the largest, central array. The signal itself, however, is unfamiliar to you.

Do you:

A. Climb to the top of the hangar and get a better view of the facility.
B. Sneak inside the hangar and see what's inside.

You climb up the side of the hangar and make your way to its top. You look out across the base premises. You notice several lifts surrounding the the central antenna. They seem to lead underground. Likewise, you notice several cargo lifts also shuttling supplies and personnel below ground. Of the two, the cargo lifts seem to be more lightly guarded.

You tune your visor and focus on the area near the central antenna. You discover a sprawling facility underneath. What's more, the signal broadcast by the antenna seems to be directed only at Earth.

It's clear the control facilities for the antenna must be located underground.

A. Head towards the lifts near the central antenna.

You dismount from the hangar roof and make your way towards the cargo lifts. You carefully avoid several synthetic patrols along the way.

You take cover near a few crates, and take a moment to survey the activity around the cargo unloading area.

You notice three different routes cargo is being shifted to the facility beneath, corresponding to three different lifts, presumably heading to different areas. One is for weapons and munitions, another is for food and general supplies, and the third is for personnel, including guards, synthetics, and technicians.

That means Three-Claw is in his element.

>>B. Supplies

You head towards the cargo list used for supplies. You notice several synthetic guards directing a large cargo container recently unloaded from a cargo ship towards the the lift.

You carefully maneuver yourself to use the bulky container as cover, and reach the lift without being detected.

The lift engines begin to whine as you descend into the facility underground. It takes several minutes before you reach the bottom, and the instruments on your visor tells you you're more than one and a half kilometers underground.

The lift doors open a few moments after the lift stops. You see six or seven Weyland-Yutani workers lining up to unload the cargo.

Do you:

A. Climb to the top of the cargo container and flatten yourself.
B. Press your back against the lift wall and wait until they unload the cargo container from the lift.

You quickly and silently leap to the top of the cargo container, and wait.

Several workers work quickly to secure the container to a pallet, while another worker piloting a large loader mech grips the pallet with the container on top and raises it into the air.

As the loader mech carries the container away from the lift and towards an empty section of the storage facility, you silently roll off and hit the ground.

You sneak your way towards a nearby door and enter a long corridor. You track the source of the signal, and find it to be quite a distance away from your current location, on the other side of the facility. Though the storage area, here, is lightly guarded, you expect patrols to increase as you head further towards the heart of the facility.

As you proceed along the corridor, you notice a tram service connecting various portions of the base. But from the looks of it, it's generally crowded and in heavy use by the local personnel.

Do you:

A. Look for a way to board the tram.
B. Continue progressing on foot.

Deciding not to risk the tram, you proceed forward on foot.

You carefully avoid several roaming patrols until you come to a central hub, connecting the storage wing to the rest of the facility.

Here, you meet your first obstacle. To enter the hub, you must pass a checkpoint. The checkpoints is guarded by two synthetic guards, and each person passing through receives a thorough identity check. The walls of the checkpoint also host a series of high powered scanners.

You'll need to get past it somehow.

Do you:

A. Blitz the guards, kill them, and rush past the check point.

>>B. Use your holo-emitter to lure the guards around a corner and dispatch them silently. (Pass, vs. DC 15)

You secure yourself around a nearby corner with your back to the wall, and aim the holo-emitter at a patch of ground near you. You project a series of moving shadows along the far wall resembling a Weyland-Yutani technician holding what looks to be a gun.

The two synthetic guards shout a warning and quickly rush over to investigate.

You unsheathe two of your disruptor knives and hold one in each hand. Once the synthetic guards are close enough, you leap from cover and quickly bury one blade into the chest of each synthetic.

You twist your hands and activate the shock blades. The two synthetics are suddenly encased by arcs of electricity, and launch into uncontrolled convulsions. Milky white liquid begins to spew forth from their mouths, and a moment later, they're silent. You quickly drag them behind a nearby crate, out of sight.

With the guards gone, you quickly slide underneath the wall mounted scanners and into the hub.

There are three sections which will lead to central communications.

>>C. Go through the engineering and maintenance section.

You carefully make your way towards the engineering section. As you perform a cursory scan of the area, you are able to pin point a large fusion reactor, which likely supplies the power to this facility. Passing through it is the fastest way towards your goal, but it's heavily guarded by synthetic patrols.

You also notice a large series of shafts and maintenance tunnels running beneath the facility. However, you notice several small, light drones patrolling those tunnels and shafts. A large pipe runs through the entire section, carrying inside chemical waste. If you can crack the pipe, you'll be able to flood the entire engineering section with caustic chemical waste, making for a nice distraction.

Do you:

A. Make your way towards the reactor and attempt to sneak by the guards.
B. Drop into one of the many maintenance tunnels and attempt to sneak your way past.
C. Put a hole in the drainage pipe and use the ensuing chaos to sprint through.

>>C. Put a hole in the drainage pipe and use the ensuing chaos to sprint through.

You carefully examine the drainage pipe. The alloy it's composed of is quite durable, and very resistant to the caustic effects of the chemical waste flowing through it, but it seems to be so
somewhat vulnerable to heat.

You can easily blow it apart, but the damage will be difficult to repair.

Do you:

A. Place a remote mine on top of it and set it to detonate on a timer. The entire section of the pipe will be destroyed, and the resulting flood will be uncontrollable.
B. Fire a plasma caster shot at it, and create a large hole.
C. Strafe it with your needler caster and create many small perforations along its length.

You aim, and fire a burst of needles with your needler caster. Hundreds of needles slam through the pipe, and a split moment later, foul chemicals jet forth from each small perforation.

You quickly sprint away. A nearby technician scurries over to investigate, and becomes drenched in the chemical. He begins to howl as the liquid eats through his clothing and flesh.

You hear an alarm go off all around you, and a storm of footsteps heading towards the leaking pipe.

Do you:

A. Sprint past the engineering section and head straight for communication controls.
B. Stop by the reactor and plant a few remote mines around it.

>>B. Stop by the reactor and plant a few remote mines around it.

You dash through the commotion around you and avoid attention with ease. From what you can pick up on comms traffic around you, the technicians are attributing the blame to poor filtration equipment rather than sabotage.

Synthetics are pulled from their patrols to help with the containment, and you're able to reach the reactor room without much issue.

You quickly set up a few drone mines along the reactor itself, and continue moving forward.

At last, you find yourself in the communication controls section of the facility. The main control room is on a level below you, and you were able to find a small ventilation duct which leads you to it.

The room is fairly large, and staffed by six technicians. They seem to be relaying and analysing information gathered by the antenna arrays.

You continue to observe and listen. You listen in on a conversation carried on by two engineers below.

"What's going on in the engineering deck?"

"Some sort of leakage. Chemical flooding. Don't worry about."

"Right. Watch it, we've got another ship heading towards Earth. One of ours."

"Is it in the registry?"

"Negative."

"You know the routine. Check it out."

"Right. Running a deep scan now. This new prototype antenna is incredible. I can see everything. ...and... it looks clear."

"Alright, I'll call off the drones."

"You really think someone's going to sneak by using one of our ships?"

"That's what we've been warned about. That's what this deep scan facility is built for."

You record the conversation, and analyse your options.

Do you:

A. Attempt to drop down into the control room and tap into the computer system.
B. Look for a way out and detonate the mines around the reactor.
C. Toss a mine into the control room and destroy the equipment inside.
>>

>>A. Attempt to drop down into the control room and tap into the computer system.

You carefully lower yourself into the room behind a stack of equipment, out of sight. The room is poorly lit, and the engineers are all focused on the screens in front of them.

You follow the communication cables to a small hatch on the floor. You carefully lift the hatch and drop yourself below.

You find a major communication cable leading above ground and tap in with a probe from your wrist computer.

To your surprise, you're able to instantly interface with the system. You discover much of the comms technology was built on bits and pieces of Yautja tech, which your wrist computer is easily able to access.

You find the registry you heard about earlier, and find it to be a list of ships approved by Weyland-Yutani HQ, which do not need to go through deep scanning.

Do you:

A. Find a way to shut the entire system down.
B. Look for a way to add your disguised Weyland Yutani vessel into the registry. (DC: Medium)
C. Tap into the root system to give you full remote access to the entire sensor facility. (DC: Hard)

>>A. Look for a way out and return to the surface.

You decide to head back to the surface. You'll also need to decide what to do with the mines placed by the reactor. Detonating them will destroy the reactor and likely cause enough radiation leakage to render the facilities useless for a long time.

Or, you can simply disable the mines and have them self destruct.

Do you:

A. Set the remote mines to detonate on a timer.
B. Deactivate the mines.
C. Have them remain on remote detonation mode.

>>

>>
>>26818425

The trip to Earth would likely take longer than a few hours.
>>
>>26818414
Indeed.

I got an alternate idea though, but it would still require the station to detonate ASAP.
We blow the facility, then transmit an SOS to Wey Yu HQ on Earth that there's a reactor accident.

Maybe we can pull away some ships guarding Earth with this maneuver?
>>
>>26818448
Good idea - but there should be enough resources on Europa locally to deal with the reactor accident.

After all, it's just one facility.
>>
>>26818469
Well if it probably won't cause them to pull any reinforcements from Earth then we might as well not detonate at all so we can keep the element of surprise with us.
>>
>>26818399

Alright, I'm going to make an executive decision here.

We're going with A -> timer set to 10 hours.

>>A. Set the remote mines to detonate on a timer.

You set the remote mines to detonate in approximately 10 hours, which should give you enough time to head to Earth and complete your mission.

With the majority of the base dealing with the chemical flooding, you easily make your way towards one of the antenna lifts, heading for the surface.
