Peter Parker Quest, Issue # 6

Rules: http://pastebin.com/w5G3aG3Y
Character sheet: http://pastebin.com/q1AqTT5h
My twitter: https://twitter.com/QuestOp

Las t night, you successfully recreated the adhesive applicators from the diagrams and schematics left to you by your father, Richard Parker. Their quality isn’t great, but they work. Probably. You haven’t had a chance to test them fully as you have nothing to put into them, but their mechanisms seem to work. You stored them along with the bag and hard drive before heading to bed.

Another late night and lack of sleep doesn’t help and when the alarm goes up, you’re blearily shaking yourself awake. You need to sleep, but you have things to do today.

Down below, Aunt May calls for you to wake up.

>You are currently exhausted (all rolls upgrade one difficulty---normal->difficult->hard->very hard->?)

Too bad our spider powers don't make us need to sleep yet.

Well, I was going to run Bleach Quest, but I immersed myself in spider-man comics earlier, so that's all I could think about.

Bleach Quest will come eventually, I'm just making sure I'm up to it first.

I know that feeling.
When I first touched Mass Effect sci-fi media and Mass Effect stuff was all I consumed for MONTHS.
Better to be super into something that way you can give it your all. When questing or gaming becomes a chore, it's time to take a step back and set it down for a bit, so please keep on running what/ when you're in the mood for. It makes your already enjoyable quests that much better.

>>
>>26743188

Drag ourselves to school.. I guess.. but seriously guys,, we need to call off one of these days so that we can get our science on without distraction..
Take an MMA fight or some BS wrestling gig for quick cash.
Or make our Spiderman outfit. I dunno.
Our grades are fine as they are, you know? And Venom's coming up soon with that shuttle coming back. We need to get our shit together so the suit wants us.
>>
>>26743404
Well, I can't say no to that.
>>
>>26743455
Weekends are a thing.
>>
>>26743404
Does she get the cool costume that comes with being scarlet spider?
>>
>>26743455
Do we actually know which universe this is based off of? Because I get the impression that we're going to get access to both natural and synthetic symbiotes, but probably the latter first.
>>
>>26743477
She gets a red Carnage equivalent.. It's gonna be sick.

>>26743469
Weekends are a thing but I think we've only got days before that shuttle comes back. We need to at least mug some muggers. or something.
Have it see what a specimen we are when we bond for the first time. We're going to need to at least take down Black cat that's also striking within days... Hell, there's a bounty off of that.
>>
>>26743188
>[ ]Head to school, but sleep through the day.
I'm kinda banking on a eureka moment (HD password) striking Pete during classes while he's asleep and embarrassing himself in the middle of a lecture.

Yeah, it's too far-fetched to think it could happen.
>>
>>26743504
It appears to be its own; quite possibly drawing influence from multiple universes and continuities.
Anything can happen...
well anything besides Uncle Ben living.
>>
>>26743188
Head off to school, but sleep through the day. Do that thing where you rest your head on your hands and pretend to look at your book, but actually fall asleep. Even if the teachers figure out that we're sleeping, our plausible deniability + being a great student means they're unlikely to say anything.
>>
>>26743518
Wait, did I miss something? I thought we'd only heard about Richards' excursion into space, not Jameson's?
>>
>>26743541
They encountered some kind of difficulties and have been forced to return.
>>
>>26743519
I'm pretty sure that the password is hidden (maybe physically hidden, maybe written in code) in dad's notes. Or he left it with uncle Ben.

Yeah, I recall that sort of thing happening in Ultimate Spider-man. After she died.

I don't want Gwen to die, people.
>>
We really shouldn't think about messing around with symbiotes anytime soon.

That road does not lead to good places.

I do agree with at least trying to take down the Black Cat though.
>>
>>26743292
What do you think about new femvenom
>>
>>26743558
Probably too late for that. Unless you want to kill Norm and Harry later today.
>>
>>26743558

She has spider powers this time.. It should be better.. and we'll need to work out communication with the venom symbiote so that it doesn't get too out of hand.
Outcast from its species, no one willing to listen? I'd throw a bitchfit too if the only one that I admired scorned me.
>>
>>26743584
I'm not averse to that.. though I'm fairly certain that Peter may be up for Norman after the revelation about his parents...
Let's go the route of anti-hero spiderman.. That might actually offset parker luck..
>>
>>26743558
she's got a fighting chance this time. Spider sense is a hell of a defense mechanism
>>
>>26743577
>What do you think about new femvenom

Mania? Well, I'm picking up that Issue of Venom in a day or two, but I'm interested. Unlike Scorn, who was awesome and then dropped like a sack of bricks, she has the potential of the sticking around.

Unless the symbiote contracted Parker luck and passes it around like an STD. Because Flash has had like, super bad luck ever since getting it.

If that's the case, she's doomed to die tragically to make Flash's life worse as a lead in to the Superior Spider-man vs Agent Venom event.
>>
>>26743574
Why would we want to take down the black cat? I thought his crimes were pretty much non violent? We'd be doing more good preventing violent crimes in the inner city, training ourself, building our gear, teaching Felix and acquiring supplemental mortgage payment funds (in some way that won't bite us in the ass...).
>>

>one hell of a reveal later.

>I an't even mad.
I am, because I just spent two whole fucking games proving that YES, Synthetics and Organics CAN coexist, only to have the game railroad the fuck out of me.
It was bad enough when my character had to work for Cerberus in 2, even though she swore to tear them the fuck down in the first game. I mean this is the organization that MURDERED her mates on Akuze. She has every reason to space Miranda and take the SR2 to do things herself right from the start, do things on her own, but I didn't get that option. I had to play her as being TIM's fucking errand girl.
>>

>Spock kills her off

>>26743622
Because there's a cash reward for catching him and our family needs that money.
also going after him is going to trigger a HILARIOUS night-long chain of tragic Parker luck as I detailed in issue 3 or 4)
>>
>>26743188
>[ ]head to school, but sleep through the day.
Voting this
>>26743268
> fake disorientation, well, don't hide disorientation, head to nurses office and see if we can convert a period to a nap.
Did people actually manage to do this in school?
I swear the nurse in my school would kick you out for anything less than a fatal wound.
>>
>>26743641
And then TIM says "Oh really?" and depressurizes the ship, has a salvage team come aboard and collect your corpse then fits you with that mind control shit Miranda left out of you or just kills you.
On the upside you would have finished the game in under 20 minutes though.

You can cry all you want about it, but the entire point of 2 was allying yourself in a moral grey area in order to accomplish what needed to be done.

You're a Spectre. You do whatever it takes to accomplish your mission for the greater good and sometimes that means playing nice with "the villain" for a while.
>>
>>26743756
really? my nurse was perpetually high, and anything not a stab wound would get you a lifesaver and nap
>>
>Slight delay, writing now.
>>
Have you guys seen the new Phines and Freb and the Avengers episode? ....It wasn't as cool as I thought it was.
>>
>>26743756

>Catch Black Cat on the streets, man that looks a lot like that Felix kid
>He runs in front of our uncles car
>he swerves and ends up getting killed
>We go to Felix's house in rage to investigate
>He begs us not to rat him out
>JJJ lampooning "Spider-Man" for working with Black Cat and being a terrible theif
>Gwen is mad at us for abusing our powers and running around in footie pajamas like a moron
>Our Uncle is dead
>We still have no money
>>
>>26743771
>You're a Spectre. You do whatever it takes to accomplish your mission for the greater good and sometimes that means playing nice with "the villain" for a while.

There were so many points in ME2 when it was an appropriate time to end that alliance of convenience it's not even funny, dude.
>>
>>26743826
...Wait are people thinking we're going to hunt down the Black Cat without going over it with Gwen first?

What possible reason would we have to do that?
>>
>>26743826
And you want to trigger this? Huh, how traditional.
>>
>>26743870
Because we're a teenage boy and we're stupid like that.
>>
>>26743870
Not to get Gwen involved in our crazy and stupid plans/ ideas
Freeing her from the eye of the law which she still wants to be a part of
Lets us be a little selfish and get at that cash we so desperately need

>>26743826
You forgot the part where Eddie is all gung-ho to catch this Spider-Man character, and finds out that we somehow might know who Black Cat is, so he starts begging us to tell him so he can keep his job.
>>
>>26743870
She's busy with family stuff, we gotta man up and take care of our pops! Er, surrogate pops!
>>
>>26743870
There were people that also wanted to rob criminals for money despite that justifying JJJ's claim's that Spider Man is a criminal.
>>
>>26743896
We know felix is black cat but peter doesn't. Actually we don't even know if Felix is black cat for all we know it's his dad.
>>
>>26743826
THAT'S OUR PETER!
>cue laugh track as Parker cries in a corner
>>
>>26743906
Yeah no. Uncle Ben and Aunt May raised us way too well for something like that.
>>
>>26743940
Taking criminal cash can't be much worse than beating the shit out of them and leaving them hanging upside down by web.
>>
>>26743771
>TIM says "Oh really?" and depressurizes the ship
Yes, because he can totally do that. Oh. Wait. No he can't. He would have done that when Shepard told him to fuck off at the end (when they FINALLY gave the player that option) if he could. But he didn't. Because he couldn't.
>allying yourself in a moral grey area in order to accomplish what needed to be done
Because a character who saw all of her unit die horribly in a moment that is considered defining of her nature would totally work for the organization responsible for that incident. This isn't a matter of being "the good guy", it's a matter of the character being railroaded into shit that is completely against their nature AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
>>
>>26743896
>freeing her from the eye of the law which she still wants to be a part of

Or, we become a cop also and create a special meta-human squad with Gwen to fight the criminals that baselines can't handle. Get Tony to write and pass a couple proposals giving us new sweeping police powers (and shielding us from destruction of property claims). Liaise with shield, have a decent salary, support for inventive initiatives and and be in no more danger than usual.

Let's follow in Uncle Ben's footsteps instead of wallowing in guilt and self pity for once.
>>
>>26743959
>He would have done that when Shepard told him to fuck off at the end (when they FINALLY gave the player that option) if he could. But he didn't. Because he couldn't.
Edi was unshackled at that point, TIM had no more power over the Normandy.
>>
>>26743957
It crosses a line.
>>
>>26743957
And? It's an action that is just douchbaggy. The reason people treated JJJ's crap as just that was because Spider-man never acted like that. Once we start robbing criminals, that goodwill goes out the window.

Anon cannot into reputation.
>>
>>26743995
I didn't mean to rob criminals every time, I just meant that if we're strapped for cash, with no time for a job, to steal a bit of money right now.
But yeah, now that I think it over, currently Peter Parker follows his families morals and they probably wouldn't like stealing from criminals.
>>
>>26744039
well we dont take a lot of the money, just like 150-200.
Something to get the bills paid.
>>
>[ ]Drag yourself to school

You get up and drag yourself through the motions of getting ready. Eventually, after double-checking everything’s done right, you head on downstairs and grab yourself a quick breakfast. Aunt May spares you a worried glance before kissing you on the cheek.

“I know you’re working hard, Peter, but do try to get some rest. I’ll be over at Anna’s again. We’re helping her out right now.”

She gives you a sly grin. “But I’m not going to ruin the surprise!”

You nod and shamble out the door and head to the bus stop. You sit and wait for the bus. You feel like the walking dead. When the bus finally arrives, you board it and sit next to Harry, who gives you a concerned look.

“Hey, Pete, I know you like to nerd out and everything and stay up late sometimes, but are you okay? You don‘t look good.”

You give him a glance and nod, yawning. “Yeah, just trying to make sure that my lessons for tutoring were good.”

He nods. “That’s cool and all, but don’t overdo it. Maybe you should go rest in the nurse’s office?”

You give him a non-committal shrug and lay your head back and nod off for the rest of the trip, trying not to brush off Harry, but you‘re father‘s note still bothering you. Harry shakes you awake when you arrive, but you’re still exhausted. You shamble to your locker and get your books but, yawning, you consider the merits of Harry’s idea, too.

He gives you a nod and you walk to the nurse’s office. When you arrive, the nurse gives you a look. “What’s wrong?”

“Not feeling well. Was hoping to rest for a little to see if I feel better.”

She gives you a look over and nods. “Alright. Sign in and take a cot.”

You only let yourself miss an hour or two, setting your wrist-watch’s timer for two hours from now. That’s only be two periods, one of which being gym. You drift off to a fitful sleep on the uncomfortable cot.

You wake up to your watch’s alarm and get up, yawning. You stretch and look around, but apparently the nurse has stepped out. You want some coffee to help get you fully up to speed, but you don’t know of where to get some. Except for perhaps Mr. Lee.

But nobody touches Mr. Lee’s coffee. Nobody. Its one of the few things that can ruin the man’s mood.

You shrug and go to lunch. You sit next to Harry who gives you a look. “You look better. Not great, but better.”

You nod and eat your lunch before getting a bit more of a nap in. You power through the rest of the day. When you head to you locker, you see Gwen there, looking worried. You walk up and she looks around before murmuring quietly.

“Are you alright? Is something… wrong?”

You look at the worried Gwen before realizing what she must mean. She’s worried that the spider bite’s finally taking its toll. That some negative reaction is now happening to you.

You shake your head. “No, it isn’t that. I’ve…

That's the definition of railroading, anon.
And guess what could be done while EDI was shackled? That's right, pulling the plug. Deleting the computer program. Do it while the ship is docked, and -BOOM!- venting the ship does nothing, and once his pet AI is gone, he can't do shit to you.
Face it, they fucked Sole Survivor background Shepards over completely. Any other background I could see, but a Sole Survivor working with the organization responsible for the hell they went through on Akuze with so few complaints just doesn't make sense.
And if you're so convinced about the "vent the ship to vacuum" thing, turn Miranda over to the council to be tried as a member of a known terrorist organization, and GET A NEW SHIP. There are several ways Shepard could have NOT worked with Cerberus, but they aren't even options.
And ironically, despite Mass Effect 2 being, by your assertion, more morally grey, it actively penalized you for playing a Shepard that isn't damn near pure Renegade or Paragon by making it practically impossible to get everyone through the Suicide Mission. While simultaneously making Renegade and Paragon a traditional "good/bad" dichotomy, rather than "Inspector Harry Callahan/Agent Jack Valentine" dichotomy that was so cool in the first game.
Believe it or not, I greatly enjoyed 2 in spite of all these complaints I'm leveling, it's just frustrating that the player was so limited in how they could go about their mission. I was hoping for MORE freedom of choice, more options, than in 1, and I didn't get it. And it's frustrating.

That is correct.
Last night (IC) we met with Felix and tutored him for the first time, Ran into family friend, divot Catholic, and troubled Daily Bugle reported Eddie Brock, opened up Dad and Moms old files, got materials, and built us two "adhesive applicators" and some cartridges. We had a busy night.

Trying to work on multiple "somethings" can do that.
We're pretty safe with talking to her about the tutoring gig with Felix and the results of the job hunt. The gadget we've been working on? Sure, just don't go into the intricate details and circumstances of how we got the plans.

The whole conspiracy thing with Dad's notes? We might wanna keep that under wraps for now. Not until we've gained a better lead.

But the warning we got about Norman? I don't think we need to involve Gwen with that one, since Osborn isn't out to get her directly (for now). Keep her low-key, so to speak.

Yay! Finally managed to catch a quest in progress!
Few thoughts that have been on my mind that I just want to mention now that I have the chance:
-In Spiderman canon, there have been all sorts of bad things that have happened at least partly because of 'plot shenanigans'. As a basic example of this, take the first Spiderman movie from a decade ago, where his presence at the death of the man who killed Uncle Ben lead to the police being suspicious of him. I think we should try our absolute hardest to beat these challenges, secure in the knowledge that cosgrove will almost certainly be throwing new ones at us.
-Spiderman is traditionally a lone wolf, albeit one who has allies on occasion. The thing with Gwen makes it pretty clear that we have the chance to change that, but right now, at the beginning of the plot is when the most change can be effected. Make sure Gwen doesn't die, Eddie remains a friend, Harry doesn't end up so dependent on his dad that he ends up following in his footsteps (seriously, this is one thing I really think we can start with now), and that Felix (assuming he somehow goes 'Black Cat') doesn't follow his dad into crime.
-Just want to say, I am amused by a potential plot set-up I've spotted. I was thinking about Eddie Brock becoming Venom, wondering if we might get a twist like Mary Jane becoming She-Venom or something, but then I realised that we already have an unexpected character with both motivation and thematics to embrace the Black Symbiote. Will have to see if that prediction pans out.

She nods, brushing a lock of hair out of her eyes. “Well, if nothing else, it should at least let us talk.”

You nod and open up your locker, grabbing your backpack and putting your books and notebooks into it. “I’m good to go, so whenever you’re ready.”

“I’ve got to stop by my locker, but then we can head to your place, Peter.”

You follow behind and make some small talk as she stops by her locker and grabs her backpack. When the two of you leave the building, she pulls out her cell phone. “Just a second, calling my dad.”

She calls a number and waits. After a few moments she lets out a sigh. “Yeah, this is Gwen, dad. I’m going to be over at Peter Parker’s place, so whenever you get this message you’ll know to call my cell, alright?”

She hangs up and she turns to you with a sarcastic tone as the two of you walk. “Best part of having a police Chief dad, he’s always busy with work, eh?”

She shakes her head, rubbing at the bridge of her nose. “That stupid Black Cat thing’s been keeping him in the office as Jameson’s been throwing a fit over it. I mean, yeah, he has the right to get protection, but he’s almost been harassing the police. God, I hope they catch that guy. Who knows what Jameson will do if the police fail to catch the unmatchable burglar.”

She lets out a sigh. “Well, that’s what things have been like with me. Sorry for being unavailable, but at least I got some time with my dad last night.”

You nod, not really knowing how to respond but listen all the same. When the two of you arrive at your house, you unlock the door to an empty house. Seems like Aunt May is still busy and Unlce Ben will be with her.

It’ll be… just you and Gwen at your house, tonight. It's all business, though, Peter. Just keep calm.

You close your eyes and let out a deep breath. There’s serious matters to discuss here.

“You know how I live with my Aunt and Uncle? Well, in a way, I got a chance to spend some time with my dad as well two nights ago."

She gives you a confused look as you head towards the basement and open the door. “And that relates to what’s been happening with us, too. So, follow me, I don’t really want to pull the things I found out of down here if I can help it. Also, be sure to get the door behind you.”

She nods and follows you, closing the door behind her. The tow of you head down into your father’s lab. While it was probably originally meant to be a chemistry lab, there’s other stuff here, too. Like the metal working machines that were originally your father’s left to you, and the computer area. It’s more of a general workroom, though it does have safety features, such as a safety shower and ventilation that are regularly taken care of by you and your uncle.

Honestly, sometimes this room is where you spend most of your day if you can help it. Gwen looks around. “Peter, what is this place?”

ou give a weak grin. “This is… was my dad’s lab. Most of the equipment is still here but the chemicals have been gotten rid of by my Uncle for safety. But this isn’t what I wanted to show you.”

You head over to the secret compartment and open it, pulling out your father’s bag, the hard drive, and the bag of your Adhesive Applicators. Hmm you really need a better name for those.

“I found some stuff of my dad’s an made these last night. They’re a way to apply a sort of bio-degradable organic adhesive that my dad cooked up. But, that’s not what I wanted to show you.”

You gesture towards the bag and hard drive after setting down the Applicators.

“I found these two days ago, in this secret compartment. Its been untouched, probably since before my Dad’s death. He left what he and his friend were working on to me. All of his notes and blueprints and formulas.”

You give her a weak grin as you go to get the key to unlock the bag. When you get it open, you slide over the note to her. “My dad’s final message to me, left in secret.”

She picks it up, careful to keep the torn bit where it belongs. After a few seconds she looks at you, horrified. “Peter, what this implies…”

Good luck proving it.

Our first enemy is a corporate giant before he started wearing a Halloween costume and throwing pumpkins.

And you just know that ol' Stormin' Norman will be mostly Spectacular, since that gives him the power of being a Weisman villain.

I do think this lends an air of credence to that "accident" threat we overheard (unless that scientist wasn't working of Oscorp).

>[ ]Possibly, but there’s no way to prove it.

You shake your head, a grim look on your face. “Possibly. But there’s no way to prove it. Norman Osborn’s a corporate giant after all. He’ll have covered up anything that could obviously lead to him and he has enough money and clout to make problems disappear.”

You let out a deep sigh, resting your face in your hands. “This is opening a lot of old wounds for me. I'm glad I can get to know my dad a little better through this. But, if this is true- If my parents were…”

You shake your head, eyes narrowing.

“I'm going to have to find that out. To expose what really happened and make sure those responsible end up behind bars where they can never, never do this again."

You look over at Gwen, giving her a sad smile.

"I'm really sorry for laying all of this on you Gwen, but you're about the only person I really trust right now."

Gwen looks at you, pity and sorrow and something else amongst the emotions on her face. “Peter-”

She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. When she opens her eyes, it’s like she’s shoved her emotions behind an iron wall as she stares at you, watching you carefully.

“…What are you saying, Peter?”

"Even though you don't have the same history with Osborn as I apparently do, thanks to that spider, you're still in the same boat I am.

If I want to discover and expose the secrets of one of the most powerful men in the city, there's a good chance he might realize that someone got bit by his Super Soldier spider, and I do not think he'd react favorably to that news. It's possible that we could both wind up in his crosshairs."

Only this because if we confess, the inevitable shit we get into will immediately be affecting her even if she might've been able to avoid it otherwise.
>>
>>26747138
I thought that was obvious and the only uncertainty with Harry is, how much he found out about his fathers plan for him to befriend us. He might have, in a more extreme case, have already found out everything after some years and simply refrained from telling us because he wanted to neither sour our relationship nor make us fight his father (which could only end in tragedy from his perspective).

Let's start with
>[]I'm going to do /everything/ I can to find out the truth

We're pretty raw about this so I think we can get away with serious conviction. Pause and look sheepish for a second, and follow with:

>[]...I don't know
"I really don't know where to begin though, all I have to go on is that note and the overheard threat of a Nobel laureate..." someone else write a transition into MMA and detective training stuff, I'm too damn tired to be bothered.

Finally, end with
>W-well, truth is

Because our on mortality is on our mind and we're about to embark on a dangerous path. Even if she isn't interested we want to know and know we gave it a shot.

>I, personally, am hitting the hay. G'night Cosgrove. Thank you for spinning this tale for us to play in and with.
>>
>>26747190
Also she seems to have just entered SRS mode, which doesn't indicate that she's receptive to awkward confessions at this specific moment in time.
>>
>>26747260

>>

I really like the second paragraph quote, because it really helps highlight that we've pretty much got nothing as of now.

We should make it clear that we're not in enough of a rush that we'd be stupid about thid.
>>
>[X]I’m going to do /everything/ I can to find out the truth. I won’t be able to rest until I know, one way or the other.

You close you eyes and think about it. What are you saying?

There’s a lot you want to say to her, a lot you could say, but at this point…

Ultimately, there’s only one answer that rings true.

You open your eyes and look at Gwen determinedly.

“I’m going to do -Everything- I can to find out the truth. I won’t be able to rest until I know, one way or the other.”

You stare at her unwavering. “Norman Osborn’s influence is strong enough that -IF- he was behind it, he made my parents along with my Dad’s friend go away and make it look like an accident. And if that’s true, then he’s extending that leeway over to Smythe, too. They’re able to break the law and cover it up- and they’re able to do it well enough for nobody to know that it happened.”

You let out a sigh, shaking your head. “I’d love to be able to just go to the police and tell them, honestly I would, but even if they believed me, there’s nothing tangible that I have that can be used as evidence.”

You give Gwen a grim smile. “I still think about ‘what if something happens and I have to go to the hospital.’ There’s no way that the hospital wouldn’t be able to tell that there’s something wrong with me because of that spider’s bite and from there it’s probably not too hard for them to hear about it and that’s it. I’m done for.

“I don’t want that fear always to be weighing over my head for the rest of my life, Gwen.”

You rub at the bridge of your nose with your index finger and thumb. “I’m not asking you to get involved Gwen. But- I can’t sit by and do nothing. I’d understand if you don’t want anything more to do with me, but…”

You shrug. “I’m not going to standby and do nothing.”

Gwen stares at you silently, but she’s masking what she’s thinking well. You wait for her to reply, but you don’t look away. Eventually she shakes her head, an exasperated look on her face.

“Peter… I’d like nothing more to do than to ring Osborn’s or Smythe’s doorbell and throttle and answer out of them… but I, especially, can’t. If I was caught doing something like that, my father- his career…”

She shakes her head. “I can’t do anything like that. But I’m not going to let you do this alone. You’d let things build up and build up without saying a word until it’s almost too much to handle.”

You open your mouth to protest but she holds up a hand. “Flash. That’s enough of an example I think, and he‘s -not- a millionaire with dark secrets and power whose son is your best friend. I can do my best to keep an ear open, as the Chief of Police’s daughter I do hear things, after all. Not to mention, within a week, you’re already falling to pieces.

“Somebody’s got to make sure you don’t bite off too much to chew, even if it’s just giving you a hand here or there so you don’t exhaust yourself on some project to keep your head clean because you’re bottling up things and don‘t have anyone to talk to about it.”

Gwen look at you over the rim of her glasses, waiting for a reply.

She laughs harder, unable to keep up her stern look. “Alight, alright. Fine. But now I know it works on you.”

You let out a sigh as Gwen pulls out a small notebook. “So, let’s make note of things, especially since we have somewhere to store notes safely now.”

She nods towards the secret compartment. “Firstly, who is this Carl?”

You blink. “Carl? Oh, that’s Carl Brock. He’s the father of Eddie Borck, who is currently a journalist at-

“Y-yeah, no problem, P-Peter.”

She hesitantly hugs you back and you let go, looking away embarrassed. “S-sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable, Gwen.”

You look around for something to start with.

Get the compounds/chemicals for those while talking about
Well, honestly, there’s this thing lately with my Aunt and Unlce and I wanted to ask your advice…
We need to multitask and prioritize what we can finish soon versus long term.

We'll run everything by hrr, of course, though we need to ease our own mind by the most immediate difficulties.

Also, bring up what she said about throttling Osborn herself, something about how much she'd love to do that, yet ruin herr father's career?

This seems like a perfect hint that we should both work on costumes of some sort... Or at least that we should and then show her the progress or something..
Stress that we wouldn't be throttling Osborn persay as much as we'd be using our newfound ninja powers to find out more.

Or have reason to, for that matter."

You show her the hard drive and explain what happened when you hooked it up. Gwen looks at it before shaking her head. “Sorry, Peter, but I’m not too skilled with computer programming. You might be right, your father might’ve put a trap on it in case, but who knows? Short of hacking the thing, there’s not much else I can think of for this.”

You nod and set it back down on the desk before letting out a sigh and handing her the unlocked bag that belonged to your father. I gave these a look through, but I couldn’t understand most of it. What can you get out of them?

Gwen nervously looks through them before slowly growing more interested, setting certain files to the side, but keeping a note of where they were. After rereading some she gives you a surprised look. “Your father and his colleague are brilliant, or insane. Look, this? Apparently, if I’m reading this right, they thought about making something to cure cancer using biochemistry. There’s nothing on how far they got, just theoretical works.”

She shows you the Arc Reactor blueprints. “and while I might not be too much of a tech whiz, this is obviously either copies of or legitimate versions of the original blueprints of the Stark Arc Reactor in California. Your father must’ve been well connected, honestly.”

She shakes her head, putting them back. “Regardless, these notes, blueprints, formulae? People would kill to get their hands on them-”

She trails off shaking her head as she covers her mouth with one hand, looking horrified. “I am so sorry, Peter.”

You shake your head. Its obvious she didn’t mean to bring up “It might not be too far off from the truth, though. Besides, I know what you meant, Gwen.”

You clear your throat and show her the Adhesive and its applicator’s blueprints. “This is what I’m currently working on.”

She flips through the adhesive‘s formula, looking surprised. “That’s it? But that’s so -simple- to make! I could do that in my house, even!”

You know, some real good could come out of these things if they got into the right hands. I mean, there's no way we ourselves would be able to use them due to Osborn's influence, but surely we can find someone we can trust to be able to use them for the right things.

Like, I dunno, that Richards guy. He's got the same name as our dad, so maybe we should give him a look or something?

You nod. You were equally surprised at it, too. You give her a grin. “Why don’t we make some then?”

Gwen looks at you, surprised. “Well, I’ve already made the applicators and I’ve got the money to get the materials for the adhesive, so let’s make some.”

She looks interested, but slightly uncertain at the prospect. “I’d honestly like your help. I don’t want to mess it up, so the best was would be to have someone help me.”

After a few seconds Gwen nods. “Alright. I’m curious to see how this will end up. Let’s give it a shot.”

She nods and the two of you pack up the room back into the secret compartment before heading out, locking the door behind you. It doesn’t take long to get the supplies. The materials are actually rather common and don’t raise any suspicion. When the two of you return, you set up the materials and equipment needed, Gwen trying her hair back into a ponytail as you turn on the ventilators just to be safe.

No reroll. My reasoning is somewhat unusual so please hear me out.

Currently, I don't see any way to get the really awesome and complicated stuff on the market without tipping of Osborn and his ilk. Something like a cure for cancer doesn't just come out of thin air and people will ask question.

It has, however, been mentioned repeatedly how simple and easy to make the formula for the webs is. Easy enough for high school students to understand and make. Probably even easy enough for the two most talented students of the school, who have suddenly been holed up in some kind of secret project to INVENT.

I suggest we produce some prototypes and get this shit patented. This will not only do a lot of good for the world in general. It will give us a lot of clout with Gwen's dad, whose police work was the main intended application of this stuff. It will solve our money problems. It could even give us an in with some trustworthy researchers and could pave the way for us to later make other project of our parents' accessible to the public.
>>

>>
>>26748381
>times
Oops
>>
>>26748376
A bit late friend
>>
>>26748376
Now the reason I didn't want a reroll was this Though I see I am too late..

Teenagers wouldn't normally get the perfect formula on the first try. In order to make the ruse perfect we would need to invest more time in it (Or otherwise spend time with Gwen and claim you have worked on this) and you would need several different prototypes until you come to the working end-product.

We should also claim that the initial idea came from Gwen, which would also serve as a convenient explanation both for her sudden interest in us and for us not doing this with the Osborn kid.

>>26748406
The plan would still work, but we would have to produce fake results instead of real failures.
>>
>>26748376
>>26748420
To summarize the result I want to achieve with this plan:

>Explain sudden connection to Gwen
>Solve money problem
>Gain clout.
>Pave the way for using future inventions.
>>
>>26748376
>bringing /our/ webs into the open
Get out. We don't even know how many enemies our parents might've had.
Patenting something a Peter Parkour was never seen or heard working on is retarded and eventually everyone will be flinging /our/ fucking webs everywhere, probably for stupid shit like what happened with Stark's suits.
>>
>>26748376
>>26748420
>>26748438
Making money by pretending we invented something we didn't doesn't sound very moral. We should at least improve it first.
Also, >>26748451
>>
>DC16, 24, SUCCESS
>Reroll used, Parker’s Luck grows.

It takes about half an hour of watching over it carefully, then and hour or two of keeping an eye on it before it finishes. In the meantime, you and Gwen work on compiling notes, anything you both know about the situation. You also fiddle with the applicators a bit.

Finally, the time comes to package up the adhesive. Carefully, very carefully, you get it into the resealable cartridges. Interestingly enough, it seems to be very well made and responds well when packaging it. There’s no spill or messes.

Finally, you load up a cartridge into the applicator and put it on.

Time for the moment of truth…

You trigger the mechanism and a strand of white-gray material spits out in a strand, smacking into a wall, cutting off the mechanism, you look in surprise at the result. Gwen gives you a wry look, prodding at the result. “Seems like you figured out how to give yourself webbing after all, Peter.”

You give the strand on the ground a feel, pulling at it. The part where it attached to the wall seems firm, but the rest seems to have quickly have grown less adhesive. And, from the way it looks, it does kinda look like giant spider webbing. Cool.

You look down at your adhesive applicators- No, they’re called webshooters now. Because it sound better. Webs for a human spider.

You give Gwen a grin.

“I wonder…”

PETER PARKER QUEST, ISSUE #6
END
TO BE CONTINUED
>>
>>26748451
>a Peter Parkour was never seen or heard working on is
That is the least problem with my plan. We have suddenly started secretly working on *something* with Gwen. Not producing any results would rise suspicions.

Our enemies already have a ton of more dangerous stuff to throw at us. Like GUNs. Or just the normal nets one can shoot out of a barrel. Giving them the net would not make them any more dangerous to us. At most the could produce some kind counter-measures against the web, but they could do that as soon as we use them anyway.

>>26748462
We would of course give credit to our parents+friends once this whole Osborn business has stopped. In my opinion spreading the inventions our parents made for the world is the moral thing to do.

One problem I see is that someone might now our parents had been working on this. In that case we would need to say we found some old notebook on this in the attic and completed it or something. Which would of course lead to questions whether there are any other notes left....

>Not producing any results would rise suspicions.
You think anyone at Peter's school was even listening to what he said to Gwen? If they did, they wouldn't think "the Parker kid must be inventing something, not obviously working school work". Peter barely talked to Gwen before, they wouldn't think he is doing anything major with her.

Getting our webs out in the open will give /anyone/ a simple and easy way to capture us alive with a launcher that wouldn't take long for them to design if they are competent.

>spreading the inventions
If they wanted them spread, they could have done that when they had them. They were more knowledgeable and before the spider, had more ways to defend themselves than us.
>our parents made
Top fucking lel
Do we have any substantial proof they actually made the stuff? No, we don't. They probably did, but we don't know for sure when we have the fucking Arc Reactor designs mixed in.
>>
>>26748508
>is the moral thing to do
O-okay
They either received the Arc Reactor designs from a man who makes weapons of war or they stole it.
>>
>>26748542
This in no way discourages me. In fact, I only feel more encouraged to run another Peter Parker Quest.
>>
>>26748599
>Getting our webs out in the open will give /anyone/ a simple and easy way to capture us alive with a launcher that wouldn't take long for them to design if they are competent.
There is already this: http://www.argoasecurity.com/product_detail.aspx?productID=320
There are many more ways to capture people. If super hero comics were remotely employing rational and competent villains the heroes would die. Giving them the net should not make anyone more dangerous to us because there are already more ways to harm us that anyone could possibly carry. If they want to harm us there are better ways to do it. Like Tazers, traps or, you know, actual guns.

>>26748611
I do not understand what you are trying to say. What has our parents possessing blue prints of the Arc Reactor to do with the web shooters?
>>
>>26748656
I believe you were implying our parents would want us to spread around the stuff they left us due to morals, but the Arc Reactor design was either stolen or given to them by a guy who made weapons of war.
>>
>>26748620
You're killin me Cos, you're killin me.
>>
>>26748680
Ok, are you saying our parents need to be evil by association? As in, they had once talked with someone who did something bad and now they are evil? Not to mention that Tony Stark is supposed to be one of the good guys, as far as I know?
>>
>>26748542
>>26748620
No no no, that isn't how you coerce Cosgrove.

You can't threaten to hurt someone, he gets off on that. I mean, have you read BQ?

No, you have to threaten to bring joy to the world in sufficient quantities that it might disrupt his supply of condensed despair. THAT will get you results.
>>
>>26748704
No, it's just that thinking our parents would want us to do the moral thing when we don't know/where they got some of the stuff they hid away.
I was talking about Howard Stark, Tony's father.
>>
>>26748727
...You speak too much. My sunday game with Kirei will have to have a discussion on how to discourage troublemakers like you.
>>
>>26748741
Ok, keeping our parents out of this.

The suggested area of application of this invention is non-lethal restriction of criminals by the police. Improving the ability of the police to deal with criminals in a way that is not harmful is a good act.

My argument works without any moral reasons as well, that was mostly thrown in because someone said it was not moral or something like that.
>>
>>26748760
Yeah that's good for the police. But we just made the fluid in 30 minutes with two people, who haven't finished high school yet. If the design goes to more people than just us, like the police, it will go elsewhere too.
The worst type of people will have a simple way to restrain, kidnap, kill, etc people silently. It would probably trash our reputation that we'd receive too.
>>
>>26748803
Somehow I don't think that restraining the people you kidnap has ever been a problem of any kidnappers. In which way would it be better than say, buying a tazer, a gag and some rope? If you want to kill people, guns are better anyway.

There is also the mention that the web stops being sticky when exposed to air. If it reacts with the air it won't stay sticky for more than a few hours anyway.

If I was a kidnapper, robber, or other assorted villain I wouldn't care for those web thingies that much. There are far too many alternatives. If I was to restrain someone I wouldn't shoot them with this thing, unless I was in a serious hurry. It would be far more secure to take the time and use duct tape or know them out or something like that.
