A forewarning: I do not follow the meta-setting of SCP, outlined in the wiki's story entries. Also, some SCP numbers will be changed, removed, etc, to keep things fresh. Expect the unexpected.

"And I said: You have Broken our God. You hold his fingers, you hold his toes. We will not stand.
And he said: Nay, these artefacts are too dangerous for any mortal man!
And I said: You are not mortal?"
-Excerpt from The Bible Of The Broken God, Book 2: Sundering

You are Agent James.

You work for the SCP foundation. As an Agent, you are tasked with the retrieval of anomalous items, and the masking of their presence from the world of the unaware.

Currently, you are almost panicking. The line went dead after the call, your phone totally dead. It seems to have been a sort of EMP effect of some kind, knocking out all power in the facility, punching through EMP protection, not harming living things, but somehow destroying most sensitive equipment.

What do you prioritize?

>Find Kelly and Gerald, who went in before you.

>Secure the nearest SCP cells (Safe level)

>Move to secure the most dangerous SCP (Keter)

>Move to secure the D-class holding area

>Move to protect staff

There might be something helpful in those.
Gerald is more than competent enough to look after himself AND Kelly.
>>

From what I can tell, Kelly is the cute newbie and Gerald is literally Gerald of Rivia.

Instincts as old as your teenage years kick in, and you move, not sprinting, not jogging. You draw your weapon as the Eyepods wheel into view, pushing a wheelchair'd scientist out into the hallway with their usual chittering. Once he's there, they turn and follow you, wheels hissing with effort.

The Safe SCP are not truly dangerous - not alone. Combinations, in the wrong hands, and the like - that is when a Safe SCP becomes a hazard. For example, the Witches are considered Safe, because they are predictable in their motivations and simple in their actions. However...

The Maiden, black of hair and white of skin, is hand in hand with Terrence. You almost fire, until you realize they are moving back towards her cell.

"Agent! It's insane, all the power-"

"Went out, I know." you reply. "Maiden, do you know this disturbance?"

"Nay, hedged knight." you rankle at the term, from when the Foundation was quite young. "This is not our doing or our sort."

You sigh. "Get her back in containment. See if you can't emergency start the backup once she is secured." you say.
Terrence nods.
"I catch you with her later, there will be no discussion. Clear?"

"Yes sir."

You part from them and move on, securing two other cells - mostly it is checking the heavy doors, making sure they are shut. The Superball got out, you find it in the hallway in a D-class's chest. The Crone was tending him, you bring her back. Gerald is in the hallway.
Missing an arm.

Bleeding, unconscious, currently getting eaten by something?

Regardless, help him!

"Good lord, Gerald!"

He grins as he turns to you.
"You should see the other guy."

"At least tell me it's properly dressed."

"Better than I usually am."

You look around. Nothing in the area hints at a Keter lurking about. "Don't worry. I came out here to check on the Coven." he says. He has a connection to them - they were his first catch, and he feels somewhat responsible for them. "But it's hell in D-class apartments and Keter zone. Overseer's sealed the areas with the failsafes. We're not getting back in until the power comes up." he sighs.

You frown.
"That's a little hasty."

"No, it isn't." he says. "Not after what got loose. We have to move as soon as we find Kelly." he says, choking down a Panacea. His missing arm will develop a stump soon enough, then.

"Why?"

"The Church and the Hand teamed up. Hand busted our power sources, somehow, through the lines. We suspect an artifact. The Hand slipped in."

"...What did they get?"

"The Heart of their God."

"No."

"682."

You feel your belly drop out. Merely catching it the first time took half the Agents of the time and a small town in central Asia. "There's no way they breached the security that fast."

"They had someone working the inside for months, Overseer thinks. An hour before the attack, we lost the acid bath. Before we could act, everything went to shit."

Your eyes slip to the missing arm. "Not the Beast. Was the doors. Overseer gave me a minute more than he shoulda."

>Find Kelly!

"We need to find Kelly."

He nods. "I sent her to check on Happy." he said. "Had to be sure he didn't get hurt."

You chuckle. "I'll go make sure she's alright." you say, dashing off. "You go secure Safe block 2!"

So delegated, you part, and make your way to Happy's cell.

Happy is a huge orange blob with the consistency of peanut butter, and the intellect of a puppy. Everything he touches, he makes happier, and he likes to touch things. Between him and the Eyepods, the facility is known for being quite peaceable and good to work in. Very few even knew the Beast was here.

You find Kelly neck deep in happy and giggling madly.

"James!" she calls, wading out with a few fading laughs. "Thank goodness you're alright. How's Gerald?"

You shrug.
"He'll be fine. Knowing him, he will replace his arm somehow."

"He lost his arm?"

"Yeah, safeguard doors bit him." you say, "Not literally. He just wasn't quite fast enough. He's dressed it. More importantly, we need to equip up and get moving. We've a containment breach."

"A Keter?"

"Yes."

It's not "organics"
It sliced up a D-Class before you even tried to hurt him.
You had to put it directly up to a mouse it even hurt it.

Perhaps it has to do with what the subject we're trying to kill is feeling?
Or what we feel to IT?
>And 682 has adapted to a lot worse than sword wounds.
It's a temporary measure, especially since we can do it through walls.

You're mostly unarmed, the pistol in your hand feeling useless for the moment. You still aren't sure what that gun does. If only you could remember...

You reach for the sword, moving as fast as you can, swinging with all that you have.

Nothing happens. Oh god. Oh god, you're going to-

A sword emerges from the mans chest at the same time the gun goes off, and it hits your hand. Immediately, Kelly takes the sword from the air, and severs your hand, nervousness in her eyes as you scream in pain.

Not in the severing, in the gun wound. It hurts, it hurts on a level you cannot even begin to imagine, gripping your heart and your your soul, barbed wire across your bare spirit.

That's right.

The gun shoots your soul. NOW you remember.

"Stablize him!" you hear distantly. "Get a Panacea!"

"Alpha squad, really? Aren't they usually for larger scale?"

"Yes, but..." he hedges.

As far as I recall that was the only way they saw for some instant-kill thingies not to kill it.

"You really think that gun will-"

"Shh." you say. "Let me aim." The gun feels familiar in your hands. For the second time in a long time, you fire.

The gun SCREAMS, making you recoil in shock as a hole appears in the beast, and your gun shakes and vibrates, skittering on the floor. Geralde puts his foot on top of it.

"The fuck did you do?" he asks. "The fuck did WE do? The hell just happened?!" he asks, as the Beast simply falls from the sky, towards the earth.

You look down, shaking at the hands that held the gun.

"James." Gerald says. "James, man, what..."

One hand is covered in slick, oily flesh, ending in claws. You feels something, something there, from the gun. Something's not right.

Something is very, very wrong. Something happened when you shot that thing. Something went inside you, replaced what was missing.

"Disgusting..." you manage, passing out.

Well shit, you were right.

682 is now our hand?
>>
So shooting the Thompson at the beast injected a piece of his soul into us, replacing our phantom limb.
>>
>>26586128
Wonderful now we have to cut off our hand.
Again
>>
>>26586192
Shooting the Mosin Nagant SCP it gave us a new hand.
Made out of 682.
>>
>>26586128
KIMOCHI WARUI.
>>
>>26586225
The hand grew back before shooting the nagant
>>
>>26586192
It took a chunk out of 682, and put it into us.

It's some kind of vampric Mosin Nagant. Except instead of draining blood or energy or whatever it just straight up tears shit out of whatever you fire at and uses it to patch you up.

At least, that's my current theory.

Gonna archive this?

>WHAT IS THAT COMRADE RIFLEMAN?
>YOUR HAND APPEARS INCOMPLETE! QUICKLY, I SHALL TAKE THE FLESH OF THE FASCIST ENEMY AND GRAFT IT INTO YOU TO REPAIR YOU

If this character isn't SCP labeled and/or terminated after all of this, I will be sorely disappointed.

The real reason is that there's extremely poor cross-communication between articles and the metasetting, as well as a good helping of "LALALA".
