In a wild world ruled by the madness lurking in the heart of all humans, civilization hangs ever on the edge of annihilation. With witches seeking only to destroy all, monsters hunting the weak and once-human madmen devouring the souls of the innocent, only the power of the Eight Warlords keep the world as you knew it from self-destruction. But soon too will that come to an end. Now, men must rise to prevent the destruction of sanity for all humans.

>LAST TIME ON SOUL EATER: THE GRIM TIMES
You created Dirk, the taciturn & cool-headed mercenary, fond of money and griping. Upon the seventh day of your bodyguard duties, you ridiculed the son of your employer and then went and saved his life from a greenhorn serial killer by punch the shit out of the attacker. A lot. After doing this, you carried the foppish boy back to his father. After which, we cut and move onto current events.

You awaken to the light of day burning through your shut eyelids. You groan, turning over in the way-too-soft bed. A stern voice lightly chuckles before pulling off your worn blanket. "T'aint no more time for that, mister bodyguard! The constables be wantin' ta talk to ya."

You groggily start to get up, bitching incoherently every step of the way. "Whad they want now?" You yawn at the human-shaped blob in your vision. "They be wantin' ta talk about last night, ya ken?" Last night? What did he mean by.

Oh, right. You killed that guy, the serial killer or whatever. Ugh, you were never one for mornings anyways. "Fucking hell, its too goddamn early for this shit," you grunt as you rise out of the bed.

>You have control. You can hurry up to meeting the constable, meet with your client first or faff about until they come to you. You can also do something else.

Rolls only matter when called for. d20s, with a focus on 1s, then 20s then high rolls.

Also, little mini bio posting time!
>Name: Dirk
>Occupation: Mercenary for the Thresher >company

A man more akin to a brick wall in size, presence, mental attitude and build. Fully grown, this man has clearly seen combat from the various criss-crossing scars on his body. Infamous within his company for being quick to complain but slow to truly anger. Additionally well known for his unusual ability to make his blows strike with an unusual ferocity while in combat.

Gotta look less like a slugger and more like a professional. Going with this and meeting with constables
>>
You grunt as you decide to get up out of the bed the merchant had you sleeping in. As the fog of sleep slowly burnt away in the merciless glare of that bastard sun, you recall the events of last night with more clarity. You fought the unskilled killer, throughly pounding him with your power-infused punches before going for a coup de grace. Afterwards, you picked up the kid and shuffled back home. When you got there, you kicked the guardhouse door open and barked at the morning shift guards to get the constables and keep a lookout on the body and boy before you barged into the merchant's home. You wearily explained the details of what happened before going towards the bed to collapse into slumber.

Your eyes drift down to your hands as you splash cold water onto your face, the chill shaking you further into wakefulness. You noticed you tended to get really drained after you used that power of yours in a fight, at least once the adrenaline wore off. Normally, you wouldn't have used it but the principle's kid was in danger and it seemed the best idea to keep the little posh bastard safe. Besides, him being dead didn't get you any money while his being alive could. You crick your neck, looking amused as the servant that was sent to fetch you looks revolted at the noise it was making. "Is that so?" You finally grunt in response to his prior statement, to which you recieve a nod. You grin madly as you straighten out the mercifully bloodless clothes you had slept in last night. "Okay then, lead me to him. The servant bends at the waist. "Please follow me."

(CONT.)
>>
As you follow him through the house, you take the time to 'appreciate' the decadence of the guy who had hired you. Wasn't often you got to walk around in a room with floors of clean polished marble, now was it? The man seemed to lack any idea of how much things cost as long as they looked bold, the various 'works of art' being of a certain carnal nature. Clearly this was a man who had his joys and loved to share them with the world. You had seen worse but this guy just aggrivated you with how much he lauded this. The trip is mercifully brief as he leads you through the foyer into the adjacent dining room. The solid black wooden table dominating the center of the room held three men, your employer, a rotund and garish man with one of those horrible giant white wigs on his head, to the left and the constables to his right.

The constables were a sour looking bunch, their beards scraggly and half-shaven. Their eyes were heavy and dark with more than mere sleeplessness. One seemed to be chewing on something, despite the horrifying lack of food on the table whereas the other was smoking from a crooked pipe. Both were wearing dull leather and iron armors, the only light on them the gleaming bronze star of the constubatary. The pipe-smoker grunts as he waves his pipe at you to sit at the far end of the table. You do, begrudingly.

"First off," he starts with a voice like the crunching of snow unfoot, "I'd like to....thank you personally for apprehending the criminal...but a man in your....position is sure to......KNOW what kind of things happened..." His voice is slow and heavy with accusation, often pausing to speak words overly dramatic. The chewing constable rolls his eyes for whatever reason before leaning back against the high-backed chair he was sitting in. The constable interrogating you glares down at you. "After all, we don't want to....ACCUSE the wrong guy. It'd be a real tragedy, see? So why don't you tell us how you saw things, as they were, yeah?"
(CONT.)
>>
God, this man was dirty, gleefully dancing around how he obviously longed to blame you, the trained mercenary, over some random schmuck from this town for the serial killings. He stopped speaking for the moment, huffing from his pipe heavily as he waited for you to speak

>Your move, players. How do you want to advance? It seems pretty clear this guy wants to finger you. You could tell the truth, counter-accuse about how he's profiling against you, or demand to know what they know so far. Or perhaps you have some other brilliant plan, fair anons?

You glare down the edge of your nose at the man across from you, his gaunt and wiry frame trying its damnedest to look intimidating, a difficult enough process without you being in the room. Guys like this, all bluster and nothing else....really pissed you off. As much as you'd love to relieve some tension lingering from last night...you sigh in your head. The Old Man'd be fucking cutting a red row through you if he had to bail you out of jail. Again. Goddamn jumpy constables. It was hardly your fault you keep ending up in these ridiculous messes!

At the very least, it taught you a little something about this kind of fight. Be straight up. "First..." you speak, voice rumbling low like a miniature avalanche, "I'd like to request what you know. Wouldn't want to waste you officers' time." The pipe-smoker jeers, looking pleased as cat with a bird in the mouth at your saying that. "We're QUITE sorry but we can't tell you what we've gathered. Just in case, you know? It'd be a SHAME if the killer ended up knowing all of what we know, right?" You briefly nod. You hadn't expected it to be this easy, not in a town large enough to actually have a functioning prision and constabulary. A smaller town maybe, but here was a trade hub on the crossroad of several trade routes, a pretty big place, especially for cheap merchants who don't want to pay their dues.

You begin your explination of last night's events, starting with Jack's talking to you and ending with you returning with Jack and going to bed. The chewing one listens attentively while the other simple smokes with his eyes shut. You glance over to your temporary benefactor, who looks more and more unpleased as you speak what happened.

"Well, I hear the son of my employer scream bloody mary, I rush over to ensure his safety, see a crazed man, covered in blood, surrounded by corpses, going on and on about killing people and taking their power, So I do my job, Eliminate the threat, save the boy... Have to give the chap credit though, Had I not had any training, He would have easily been able to dispatch me... Too bad for him then, eh?"
>>
Finally, you finish as the constabulary leans forward, jabbing the end of the pipe at you accusingly. "Well, that MAY be the case, but I really doubt a guy like YOU could really beat a man into unconsciousness and then kill him like that!" His partner groans softly, pulling his helmet down as you are both forced to listen to this guy's bullshit. Looks like this guy's favored method of investigation was piss off people until he gets what he wants. With your fat boss nodding his double chinned head up and down at what this asshole was saying, you mull in your mind what to do.

>Your move, players. This cop seems unable to believe what you're saying intentionally. You could show a demonstration of your capacity. Or you could not, letting your words and inaction speak. Or you could ask about what the kid said. But I'm sure you anons have a brilliant plan you're waiting to show, so get to it!

The sheer gall of this man was agitating. Still, you kept your face impassive from years of practice. You flagged the servant that led you here down. "Get me something to drink, please," you requested of him. Just moments after, the dirty constable's fist slammed against the table. "Don't ignore me! We've clearly gathered evidence linking you to the crime and-!"

You interrupt him, giving him a glare that promised death before beginning to counter his accusations. ""Constable, I arrived in town approximately a week ago as a mercenary, you can confirm this with my employer and any records on file concerning me. The serial killings started before I arrived, part of my job was to protect my client from the serial killer, a task which I succeeded at." You cross your fingers together and lean forward, the light shining from behind you covering the smaller man's body in your omnious shadow."If you look at all of the bodies that were at the crime scene they were done by an axe, my client disallowed me from bringing any weapons aside my fists and my knife on this job, I did not bring an axe with me." The servant returns and you take an impassive sip before continuing.Ugh, you hate this fruity tasting crap.

"The son of my client was assaulted by the serial killer and it was only due to my timely intervention that he is still alive. Didn't you question him?" The man sputters before his partner speaks up. "We did. In fact, Jack Teller had been questioned last night by me personally. His version of events seemed to match up with yours." You nod at the man before drilling your last point home.

"Now, if you doubt my ability to have killed the serial killer I should remind you that I am a professional mercenary, fighting people for money is my job. It's what I do." The pipe smoking coppiceman sputters and fumes ineffectually while the chewer partner seems to look at you in a different light. He clearly wasn't expecting you to shut his partner up this way. He gets up and pushes his chair in. "Thank you, mister Dirk. I believe that's all we'll need from you. As procedure, I'd like to request you not leave the city until you've contact one of us, but as we've got a red soul waiting back at the jailhouse and you being a man of a travelling sort, we'll understand if you're not able. Thank you for your time."

The coppiceman gets up and grabs his slimy cohort by his ear out of the room, making him drop his pipe as he bitches along the way. As they leave, you hear them beginning to argue in the distance. You're alone with a suddenly very pale and very sweaty employer, Mister Teller, looking at you with fear. "S-s-so....a-about your fee...."

Somewhat polite, all we want is the payment owed, and a bit of an implication that stiffing a mercenary company will utterly fuck over his reputation or get him blacklisted from professional protection.
>>
>>26530873
"Will be in my hand by the end of the day. Word to the wise, your demeanor during and following that interview would lead a lesser man to believe that you had planned to avoid paying your debts. You honestly don't have the time or patience for this shit anymore. This guy kept you around for a week as a walking trophy to boast about and when you actually did something, this kind of goddam bullshit happened? And after saving this whoreson's own flesh and blood no less. You could barely keep your disgust from your face as you finish you drink, letting him simmer and squirm while you stare judgementally at him. When the cup was finally empty, you set it aside and tell the quivering merchant, ""Yes Mr. Teller, my fee. According to your agreement with the Thresher Mercenary Company you owe us payment for the job's completion and me risking my life on your behalf. An upstanding, respected, merchant like yourself will obviously have no problems in paying his debts. Correct?"

He had braced up, seemingly ready to accept some kind of verbal or physical punishment. When you replied, he seems flabbergasted by your words. "Wh-what?" he asks weakly. You grin widely. "Its still what we agreed on when you hired me." You throw your head back in laughter. "As much as I wish otherwise, there wasn't any clause about a bonus if I caught the killer, yeah? Hell, I slipped up by allowing your kid to get into danger in the first place. I'll even throw in self-defence lessons for him if he wants them, on the house. "N-n-no, I believe w-with your efforts last night, y-y-your presence will no longer be required. At all. Ever. S-s-so! About that payement, shall we t-t-t-take care of that now, mister Dirk?" You nod slowly as you both retreat from the dining room into his office in the back of the house. He opens up the large reinforced safe and begins to divvy up your pay. The clink of coin after coin going into a large sack for you to bring back is a joyful sound, the sound of you getting away from this sack of shit. As he counts out the last coin, he dumps the coins off in your grasp and practically pushes you out. "N-n-now, that should be all! Haveanicedaybye!" he calls as Mister Teller slams his office door behind. You shake your head and shrug. "Man, what a pain. Still, its about time," you quip as you toss the coin-filled sack up and down, enjoying the jingling it makes.

>Your move, player. Obviously you can leave now, but some seemed to want to offer the kid some lessons? You can also spend some more time in this manse. If you don't want to, you'll start to pack up and get ready to go back to the Thresher Mercenary Company Headquarters

Now that the job was done, you didn't really have a reason to stick around, so you decided to grab your things and head back home to Headquarters. Just as you were passing through the foyer, you hear the sound of feet slapping against stone from the stairs above. "So...you're leaving, mister mercenary?" Jack Teller asks as he descends the stairs, wrapped in an all too thick cloak. Poor bastard must have been taking it harder than he would have thought. Still, no one was able to just shrug off their first brush with death easily, not him, not any of his fellows, not even the Old Man, though he'd say differently. You look up to the traumatized boy and nod.

"I've done my job and its clear your father doesn't want me around anymore," you reply cooly. The lad scoffs, looking disdainfully in the direction of his father's office. "My father is a cheapskate and a coward," he replies brutally, ekeing a chuckle from you. "Ain't arguing there, kid." He looks back at you somberly. "So....that's it huh?" You nod. An awkward silence echoes between you two, bouncing silently off the stone of the room. Jeez, this kid really knows how to milk the silent approach.

You rub the back of your head awkwardly. "Alright look, if you're ever in Eva, come up to the Thresher Fort and ask for me. I'll...give ya some pointers or something, alright?" you answer quickly. He nods, a small smile cracking his face. "I just might do that. Goodbye mister mercenary. And....thank you." The kid looks away after quickly thanking you, so you just nod and step outside, leaving the manse from the foyer. As you enter the small manse's front lawn, you see the stables off a bit to your left and two figures that seem to be the constables down by the gatehouse. Though you can't make any of the specifc words out, you can clearly hear raised voices from over there. Neither sounds particularily happy.

Entering, you pass by the Teller's horses, several pack horses and some horses clearly meant to be rode as a means to look fancier than his mercantile position. You pass by all of them as you head towards your own mount. She whinnies as you approach, your plain brown jennet. You smile as she trots over to your end of the stall. "Hey girl, good to see you too. You just as antsy as I am?" You extend your hand as she pushes against it. "Hey, hey, alright, alright!" you lightheartedly qip as she presses against you. "Let's just get you all set up so we can go."

Several minutes later, she was cleaned and saddled. You mounted your horse and began to ride out of the manse. As you leave, you see the two figures are still arguing. As you get closer, you see that they are, in fact, the two constables. You trot your horse closer as their words become clearer.

"-illing a suspect because you don't LIKE him isn't what we do! We've been over this, Jaspar!"
"And I keep telling you, he's clearly guilty! All those foreign bastards are! Gastal, you've been a good mentor, but the sooner you see this, the sooner-"
"Dammit you whoreson! We've got the murder weapon and an evil human's soul in the Box waiting for one of Death's hands! What more do you want!?"
"That's circumstantial!"
"Circumstantial!? Your fucking whore of a mother was circumstantial to your father; that's the only way you know a word like that!"
"You fucking bastard!"

The sleazy man, now identified as Jaspar raises his fist to the other man, Gastal, and shakes it at him. It seems the tension is slowly building between the two, their weight shifting in ways your trained eyes can see. They're about ready to start a fight.

>Your move. Intervene? Or leave?

>>
>>26532297

>>
>>26532297
Gastal did right by us at the trial, and he politely asked us to check in before we were leaving.

Ride a bit closer. "Constable Gastal, thank you for your professionalism during the trial, it's good to see honest men, they're far too rare. You asked me to contact you before I left the city, and I'm heading out now. Good day.

Jaspar, it seems I have overstayed my welcome after dealing with the serial killer plaguing this place and preventing more innocents from getting hacked up by an axe. Next time you accuse people of a crime you may want actual evidence beforehand, I've heard that evidence is an essential part of investigating crimes."
>>
>>26532509
This.
>>
>>26532509
Yeah, let's go with this
>>
>>26532369
I'm going with this. If the argument settles down, we leave.

>>26532509
I don't want to even try to reason with Jaspar. He's already foaming at the mouth and almost at the point of considering to off us.
>>
>>26532297
Anyone else thinking that Jasper is infected with madness and near the breaking point? We might want to privately mention something to that effect to Gestal before we head out.
>>
>>26532509
Aye, he DID ask us to check in before leaving.

Doing otherwise would be rude.

If we just so happen to break up a fight in the process, well thats just a happy coincidence now isn't it?
>>
You decide to slow your pace and wait things out a bit, if only to catch them and tell them you are leaving for Eva. If they argue, who the hell cares? It's none of your concern. Jaspar presses his face up against Gastal's, leering up at the larger man as he continues his tirade.

"Everytime we let in more outsiders, more and more of them go mad and kill good born and bred citizens! They're to blame! They're little better than the beasts of the wilds, or the pre-kinshin or the witches! If we could just kill them all...."
"You're letting your personal feelings get in the way, Jaspar. Just because your father was enough of a fool to fall for a bandit's trick outside the wall doesn't mean you can take it out on other people, especially not a suspect in the case you're working on."
"Don't you dare talk about my father!"

As you and your horse are close, Jaspar swings wildly, only to be stopped by a well-timed block from Gastal's raised arm. With a single motion, Gastal grabs the back of the younger man's head and pulls it towards him as he rears his head forward. The brutal headbutt hits the man just below the rim of his helmet while the attacking Gastal's helmet was used to inflict the blow. Jaspar's eyes roll back, he takes two stumbling steps back and falls backwards onto his backside. Somewhat impressed, you cough to get Gastal's attention. "Ah, mercinary Dirk. I didn't see you there."

"Constable Gastal, thank you for your professionalism during the trial, it's good to see honest men, they're far too rare. You asked me to contact you before I left the city, and I'm heading out now. Good day," you grunt as you start to pass him. He nods back. "That's understandable, mister Dirk. I apologize on behalf of Jaspar here. He is rather....vocal about his beliefs. Trust me, were he not well sponsered, I'd have done worse than I did to him."
(CONT.)
>>
>>26532628
IC we don't know shit about madness, really.
>>
>>26532656
You grimace and nod back. Sponsered huh? Sounds like a pain, a guy used curried favor to keep a position like this. Probably looks the other way on some rich bastard's illicit deals to. "Sir, I'm really sorry for having to deal with an ass like him." Gastal just laughs and waves you off.

As you leave the manse, you decide to head out of the city while its stilly early, the merchants still setting up the open markets and the streets relatively unclogged. You go along at a steady pace, getting the eye of the few early birds that you pass by. From the way they murmur, its clear that the word has already spread about the events of last night. Thankfully, you don't have to deal with the people here for purchasing supplies, pre-packed as you came. You come upon the gates of the city just as they are opening up. The guards look at you and bow their heads in respect. "Thanks, stranger," one murmurs as you pass him by. As you look down the road towards home, you let out a sigh of relief. Though it was a ride of several days, it felt like you were almost home.

>Alright, now here's the deal. I've got to change locations so it'll be about 30-45 minutes before I start on the next update. While I'm away, I want you to decide on if you want to roll for a random traveling event or just get back to Eva.
>>

>>
>>26532677

travel event sounds interesting, especially since we are not in a rush to get back, meaning that we are liable to indulge curiosity over certain happenings or occurrences... Also, we are not expected to finish for a few days, so we could always do a spot of training...

If we needed to get somewhere with great haste and did not have the time to stop, then no events would make sense as we would just be storming past them with little thought...

so yeah, random for any travel which isn't Balls-To-The-Wall-Get-There-Yesterday speeds...

Something Jaspar mentioned? Dunno?
>>
>>26532902
Man we know about witches, they are common knowlage.
Well we know they are real at least.
>>
>>26532902
A miserable little pile of magic.

We probably know what a witch is, I mean Jaspar knew about witches, monsters, and pre-kishin, so it stands to reason that we know some about them. We're a mercenary, we travel a decent bit, and we're far from dumb.

We probably don't know a huge amount and it may be inaccurate, but we do know what that they're powerful magic using females with a penchant for destruction and we probably knows about the animal theme. I'm guessing we know the basics, we know what Monsters are, we know Magic exists and does stuff, not enough to use it of course, we would know that Kishin are bad news, we know of the Eight Warlords, we know about Death, and a maybe a bit about Souls. Advanced concepts are probably beyond us, we wouldn't know about Soul Resonance, Weapons since Weapons are a new thing, we might not know the difference between varieties of Monsters.
>>
>>26533031
We probably know we are at least a bit funky as well.
>>
>>26533031
Dudes make Golems in this world for common labor dont they? Its not like magic is a secret in soul eater land.
>>
>>26533066
That they do, though at this point Golems would be pretty new.

The existence of Magic isn't a secret, but how to use it properly, that's more guarded.

>>26533046
To a degree, we might not know exactly how Soul Force works, but we know we can touch some sort of power inside of us and use it through our fists. We know that doing that isn't normal in the least and could guess that it has to do with our Soul, but the exact details are probably beyond us.
>>
And I'm back.

SO YOU GUY WANT THE BOX HUH? ARE YA SURE?

>>26533066

>1 goddammit

The cold north wind blows through the trees as you and your horse plod along the road to seek a place to rest for the night. Its the third day since you left on your trip back to Eva. Unusually, you've had a very uneventful trip so far, which is setting you on edge. You've seen no bandits, no wildmen, no wild animals wanting a bite of you or your horse, NOTHING! It's been a perfectly calm and pleasing ride.

Almost TOO calm. It was eerie. This never happened, ever. With your coin sack jingling on the back of your horse, you expected at least one highwayman, but you've seen no one this whole time! Three days without seeing anyone is unnatural on a trade road like this! Add this on to the fact that for the last day you've felt like you've been watched has you really on edge.

Your poor horse feels your unease and whinnies sympathetically. You pat her mane to calm her down. "There, there girl, we'll find a place to camp for the night and we'll be out of this wood by tomorrow." She doesn't understand your words but your soothing tone helps calm her down. You peer through the trees, trying to find a cospe or someplace secluded to hole up for the night.

After a moment, you see several options
>A thick patch of trees off to your right seems a possible place,
>But there's also a small ridge to the right that could also work
>Or you can get off to save the horse and try to find a better place
>>

>A thick patch of trees off to your right seems a possible place,

A thick patch of trees will keep any wind and rain off of us, there'll be more than enough deadwood in the area to start a nice warm fire and get a hot meal out of our rations, if need be we can tie our horse to a tree, honestly it's a damn good spot.

So set up camp there, get our horse secured and fed, set up a cooking fire, get some food going.

You decide you are in no mood to have dirt or rocks fall into your eyes as you try to get some rest tonight. You turn your horse towards the thick patch of trees to your right, eventually getting off to guide her through. Luckily for you, in the center of the thick patch is a small circular clearing. Looking up, you see that the thick tree branches of this part of the wood got tangled up in one another, blocking out the sky completely, preventing any trees from growing in this clearing. How fortuitous.

"Well, isn't that a stroke of luck, eh girl?" you ask your horse. Oddly, she seems unusually hesitant to continue forward into the clearing. You try to goad her, pull her or even command her to enter but she simply will not go into the clearing. You are too tired to put up with this horsey bullshit and tie her up to a tree just outside the clearing. You set up a small camp, gathering firewood for a hot meal for you and take care of your stupid fussy horse. Before you know it, the food and long ride has taken it all out of you. You put down your bedroll, pull your longcloak tight around you and drift off to sleep, the wind whispering melodically through the trees.

You are unable to see anything but your horse, which is currently freaking out.

>I was going to roll here but then >>26534088 rolled a 20

You slow your breathing and try to listen for anything. The second you do, you notice it almost immediately. Just under the wind's noise is the sound of a human voice singing. As you turn and listen, trying to find the direction its coming from, your body begins to feel heavy and tired. You yawn. It would be a nice idea to sleep. You were so tired....yes....sleeping would be such a good...idea....you yawn again, smacking your lips before you realize that something is happening to you, something forcing you to feel so tired...so tired, yes, should just lie down....lie down and sleep....

Sleep forever.

You shake your head violently, a strangled feeling burrowing its way up from your throat. You weren't going to be manipulated by some goddamn singing bint! Just to be sure, you slap yourself in the face, the stinging sensation of pain mixed with adrenaline keeping your mind focused. Now that you aren't feeling sleepy, you can barely make out words in the previously garbled song.
sleep sleep lie down and sleep sleep with me forever

"Cut the crap! I know your trick now and I ain't falling for it! Now why don't you get out here and show your damn face!"
sleep with me stay with me we'll be together forever come here my love come to bed with me

"Enough!" you yell, further startling your freaked out wild eyed horse. Poor thing looks about ready to bolt. But until you could find the thing trying to make you sleep, you wouldn't be able to help her. Listening again, you fight past her song to try and locate where the source is coming from. After all, if she wasn't coming to you, you'll go to her.

>20
You turn and turn and turn again but no matter how hard you turn, you can't seem to find the direction from whence the singing originates. You look down as you slap your arms to keep you on edge and....wait. You look down at your feet and the song seemed louder. As you bent your knees the song got louder and louder. "From below?" You ask.

The song stops just after you ask and instinct, honed in you from years of combat makes you roll away just in time. Where you were standing, a pillar of dirt erupts like a geyser, a mottled grey hand clawing up where your heart would have been had you not moved. You look at the body attached, grey-green, rotted, draped in both a torn white dress and white hair. Red eyes full of hate, the woman looks at you and begins screaming. Your ears ring with the echoing scream your head feeling like its about to explode!

>Now, how are you going to fight her? She's currently screaming at you, so you'll need a good plan or else you'll just end up passing out from the noise.

SURPRISE POCKET SAND!
>>
>>26534479
How close is she to us?

What do we have on us?

Are there any large rocks at hand?

Where is our knife at?

My preliminary suggestion would be to Soul Force uppercut her in the chin to slam her mouth closed and then go to town on the bitch.

If she's too far away for that to be immediately doable then take our knife, which should be on our person right now, and throw it into her face aiming down her mouth. Then we Soul Force upper cut her. Then she'll have a knife thrown in her mouth and all her teeth will be utterly broken or she'll otherwise be fucked up.
>>
>>26534479
Take two gold coins and use them to block your ears. Take a rock/sand and hit her in the face/eyes Then go for SOUL PAWNCH. When she is down, stuff her mouth with some cloth or something so that she can't scream.
>>
>>26534493
>You are both currently standing in the middle of the circle of trees. She is roughly ten feet from you. Your horse is to the left, just outside the tree ring. There are stones around. The trees are roughly mansized with space between them is man-and-a-half sized.

>I'm aware of that, however fae are not revealed to exist in Soul Eater world, as far as we know. Its possible they do, given the mythological origin of Excalibur but.....I really don't want to know anything more about him than I need to. No one does.
>>
>>26534643
I suppose. I cant remember his what his origins were but those faries that hang around in his cave look pretty fae to me.
Not arguing though. Fucking Banshee
>>
>>26534582
Excellent, so throwing the knife into her mouth, or at least face, is eminently possible. I'd like to see her try to sing with a sharp piece of steel in there.

It should be more effective than a rock, it's sharper. Also blinding her with dirt and sand in the eyes could be useful.

That should give us enough time to get into Soul Force PUNCHing distance, aim for the head, uppercuts are good since it will slam her mouth closed, possibly around a knife, which will fuck up her mouth.

Trying to plug our ears with stuff might work, but it'll take a bit and give her time, so I'd advise against trying if we have other options open.
>>
>>26534621
Then we wouldn't have a knife. I say drown her out with our manly roaring, close the distance and take her down (knife/fist combo).
>>
Weren't there fairies near Excalibur?
>>
>>26534702
I really don't think our manly roaring, as manly as it may be, will be able to match up to a fucking Banshee in any way.

Besides, we're damn good with our fists, we have Soul Force with them and are an experienced brawler.
>>
Okay so it seems like you guys want to throw something at her, take advantage of the moment of distraction to get in range and Soul Force her.

What do you want to throw? Do you do anything else before you rush her? And are you sure you want to Soul Force her? Perhaps a roaring ballad to soothe the savage bitch?
>>
>>26534699

>Charge up SOUL FORCE PUNCH
>Throw punch right where the knife is
>Send knife straight threw her skull along with her brain

A roaring ballad seems a wee bit out of place. But the coins in ears and SOULFAWCE sounds like the best plan so far.
>>
Fae don't like iron, is dagger iron?

Captcha, comes goryxp. Jfc.
>>
>>26534767
I say the knife, it's sharp, if we get that down her mouth she won't be able to sing that well, it'll at least buy us time.

As much as I like the idea of plugging our ears it might take a bit to find something that we can use for that in our pockets and plug them, if we can do it really quickly, sure, if not then don't bother wasting the time unless throwing something sharp into her mouth doesn't shut her up.

I'm pretty sure Soul Force would be helpful against her, and if not it's still a good punch in the face, so go for it.

I really don't think trying to outsing the Banshee will work well.
>>
>>26534831
I dont think anyone like getting stuck with daggers
>>
You can't kill a banished due to it already being dead, but you can cut off the head and shove it in a box. By doing this the banished can no longer scream.
>>
>>26534808
>She's not a witch. That would have been a nat 20. Co-incidentally, that fact you guys rolled a 1 kept things tame up until this point.

>>26534888
>>26534831
>It's not a fae banshee, more like a human that went mad and lost their humanity and took on the form of a banshee. It does not have the traditional weakness of a banshee. If you were fighting a fae banshee, your head would probably have popped barring crit wins.

Alright guys, its game time. You've got six minutes to for a definite plan or I'm going with the throw rock-plug ears-soul punch plan.
>>
Rolled 3, 8 + 3 = 14

>>26534931
Alright how about this:

PAWNCH her

and then try to slice her up some?
>>
>>26534888
Depends on what myths you are working off of. originally they were just fairy women, not undead.
>>
>>26534931
I would prefer a knife over a rock, but both work just fine. Ought to shut her up.

Do we have any weird items on us that haven't been mentioned yet?

Do any of the trees nearby have thick pointy branches so we can Soul Punch her into them and impale her on them.
>>
>>26534931
I like that plan. Pretty sure punching and sticking knives in things works on everything thats not free in souleater land.
>>
>>26534973
>You have your leather clothes, worked in such a way to act as a light armor, your knife, your cloak you were trying to use as a blanket and that's it.

>The tree branches are all pushed up from the not-banshee's scream.

Okay throwing-plugging-punching plan finalized. Looking again, knife managed to beat rock, despite knife cutty and smashed by rocks.

Your eyes water. Your vision blurs. Your are unsure but you think you may feel some liquid in your ears. You grimace as you try to focus through the relentless sound, the noise an oppressive force trying to crush your whole body, one part after another. Slowly, you fall to your knees, clearly in pain and screaming as the creature screams into your ears. Some malevolent light gleams, presumably from her eyes as you can feel the source of the screaming get closer, the noise more oppressive. She was advancing for the kill, ready to give you a kiss to die for, her scream liquefying your brain and killing you instantly and incredibly painfully.

But you needed her closer....you couldn't see through the blurry mess in your eyes....couldn't see her from where she was. So you needed her closer....closer....She began to bend down, an ornate affair that took into account her twisted inhuman body. Almost....

almost.....

>18
..there!

With a deft movement, you pull your dagger from your booth. A quick turn of the wrist and you throw it, letting it fly towards the creature that was now within your sight!

You gasp as the pressure suddenly lets up. Falling to your hands and knees, you shake off the oppressive feeling now silenced forever by your dagger in her throat. She reaches for it in disbelief, as if she couldn't believe what was happening. Your world is...spinning but you can't stop...not yet!

>13
You get up to your knees. From your knees, you manage to get up to a standing position. Forcing yourself through the pain, you ball up your fist. Reach way back, down into yourself. The pain is intense, you feel like you'll pass out if you stop. So you don't. You advance. Forwards towards the banshee and down, into yourself. You grab your power, forcing it with what will you have left to obey. When you throw your punch at the banshee, you're not sure if you succeeded in hitting her with it or not. So you keep going. Keep attacking. Left. Right. Left. (CONT)

With each meaty blow, she falls back, her body meant to drain people of their souls and then ambush them, not to fight on semi-equal terms. And with her one weapon gone, all she had was the body of a frail mad woman. She kept trying to scream but your throw was dead center of her throat. She would never cry again.

You'd make sure of it. You rush her, bowling her over and slamming her against the ground. You reach up. Grab your knife. And plunge it. Down and down and down and down. You don't stop stabbing the body. Not after she stops moving. Not after it stops twitching. You keep stabbing until your adrenaline wears out.

>1
You roll off of her, your body weak, vision spinning. But you grin as you see the mess you've made and the soft red light of a soul drift above the corpse.

"Heh. I win," you say as the world swims to black.

That's why I'm hoping for the armor-Weapon. Because once we get the Soul Resonance thing down we'll be doing a lot of the same things as what we already do, but we'll be even stronger, tougher, and hit harder. Not to mention Soul Force attacks amplified by a Weapon.

We'll be very dangerous once we get the hang of it.
