LAST TIME ON GUNDAM AGE QUEST: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Gundam+AGE+Quest

Check my twitter for Updates and Reschedules: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

Your name is Dirk Crocker and you could say you’ve had a rough time aboard the Diva. Your former friend Zeheart shot your arm off, MID became your new arm, you missed out on an epic battle between fighting Zehearts new Mobile Suit and Vice Admiral Flit. Worst of all however, you had to tell your best friend that his mother stole urine, fecal, blood, and ‘seed’ samples from both of you while you were unconscious.
“But…she’s dead” Asemu states with a frown.

“I’m more concerned about the fact she stole our DNA from us. I mean, why would she do that? I mean I have my ideas, but the last time I checked the Earth Federation wasn’t really into genetic engineering.” You say as you and Asemu walk to the mess hall, passing but numerous Big Ring staff and security along the way.

“Well Grod-er, I mean Alan did mention that Leviathan had a lot of resources and there was a faction inside their group that wanted to escalate the war and take more of an offensive. Maybe they have some kind of plan or program that needs the DNA from good pilots?” Asemu suggests.

“Makes sense. That or your Mom has a really fucked up sense of humor…” You’re tempted to ask about the circumstances about how Emily died, but Asemu looks like his mind is reeling at this point. Asking him now might not be the best course of action.

Entering the mess hall you realize why ‘BIG’ was put into ‘BIG RING’. The Mess hall is bigger than any you’ve ever seen. Thousands of troops are eating, chatting, and moving in and out at once, making the mess hall aboard the Diva seem like a sardine can by comparison.

You and Asemu get some not-drugged food, with you avoiding the fresh pancakes like the plague (Damn it Dad). After getting some grub in you that isn’t spiked with tranquilizers you and Asemu are approached by Woolf who explains the situation.

“We’re leaving Big Ring in 5 hours to head to the moon. There’s some checks they need to make to the Dagon and some repairs that need to be made to the Diva. I don’t have anything for you two to do, so use your time however you wish. Oh, Dique had something he wanted to show both of you.” Woolf turns and leaves, probably going to hang out with his wife.

There is a couple things you need to do…

[ ] Pass on the Nano-Machine Data to Admiral Flit so he can give you his thoughts on modifying the AGE Builder.

[ ] See Dique about that thing he wanted to show you.

[ ] Try to dig up information on what your DNA would be useful for

[ ] Other Stuff

Well Dirk, what do you want to do?
>>

[X] Pass on the Nano-Machine Data to Flit.
>>
Let's go see Flit about the nanotech. We don't want to miss the drama when he begins arguing with all of his kids.

You decide you better pass on the Data before it falls into the wrong hands. Finishing your food, you and Asemu leave to find the Vice-Admiral.

After asking around you manage to find Flit's office aboard the massive complex. You see Akito leave the office in a huff, followed by Yurika who chases after him.

The Vice Admiral exits his office, looking rather angry.

"Uh, excuse me sir?" You ask, catching the attention of the angry Admiral.

He turns to you, his gaze softening a little as he shifts uncomfortably. "Yes?" he asks.

You and Asemy give a salute. "I'm Ensign Dirk Crocker. I recently obtained some sensitive data that my father said you should look over."

You hand over the old data cartridge and Flit looks it over.

"Yes...Jake called ahead and told me you were bringing something important. I'll analyze it as soon as possible, but it'll be about an hour before I'm ready." Flit turns and leaves before you can say anything else.

He seemed rather uncomfortable. Was it something to do with you?

"Hey Asemu what was that all a-" You stop, noticing that Asemu is biting his lower lip, glaring into Flit's back as he floats down the hall.

"Asemu? You OK man?"

"Fine" Asemu snaps back. "Let's get out of here. We have other stuff to do, don't we?"

What do you wish to do now Dirk?

Let's try to dig up information about what they could use our DNA for. That's kinda important, we don't want our clones or something running around. I doubt that asking at random would help us, though. Let's see if we can find Flit's kids, maybe they know something.
>>
>>26491073
Also, make some idle chitchat with Asemu. He looks pissed, it's as if he lost an arm instead of us.

You go to the D&D Section of Big Ring in the hopes of finding someone who knows something about genetics.

While you walk there you try and talk with Asemu about what's the matter.

"Nothing. I just don't like that guy..." Asemu states firmly as you arrive at a check point.

"Do you two have clearance?" One of the guards at the door ask.

"Uh, no?" You say.

"Then I'm afraid you can't enter." The guard responds with a glare.

"What's going on here?" You turn around to see an old women with orange hair and wearing an admirals uniform approaching you.

You and Asemu salute. "Uh, my apologizes Admiral. We were just looking for some advice on a sensitive matter regarding genetics"

The admiral raises an eyebrow and looks at you. "Are you Jake Crocker's son?"

"Yes Ma'am"

"My name is Admiral Frizzle. I used to be the Captain of the Magic School Bus before I was re-promoted. I owe it to your father for helping me, so I guess I can help you out." She turns her attentions to the guards and get you through.

"I don't think I want to know what your issues involving genetics entails so I'll just leave you two to figure out things on your own." Admiral Frizzle leaves you and Asemu to gather information from the scientists by yourselves.

While wandering the lab you come across a friendly researcher who answers a lot of your questions after running a few tests.

"So why would someone want our DNA?" You ask after a bit of waiting.

"Well I can tell you right now we don't have the technology for proper clones. It's a tricky process and even if we made clones their life span and health would be pretty shitty." The researcher state comfortably, easing your mind of facing a clone army.

"However that doesn't mean they couldn't grow test tube children using your 'seed'. Both of you have good genes and possess high X-Rounder potential, however I think Asemu's DNA would be used over yours Dirk."

"Huh? Mine?" Asemu asks in surprise.

"Why wouldn't they use mine? I mean that's a relief but I'd still like to know."

"Well your X-Rounder abilities are powerful and unstable, but they will most likely not be in your offspring, especially if you mate with someone with a high X-Rounder potential as well. From what we've learned X-Rounder abilities have a tendency to skip a generation, especially if both the parents are X-Rounders themselves. This isn't always the case but it tends to be that way." The researcher explains. "Asemu's DNA carries a lot of X-Rounder potential that, if made with a person with no or low X-Rounder potential, will create an X-Rounder. Since skill and talent aren't based on genetics I'd say whoever stole your DNA wants you because of your X-Rounder potential, but they probably overlooked your condition"

"So my kids aren't going to have the same problem as me?" You ask.

"Probably not. Your instability was credited less to do with your genes and moreby your mother's implants affecting you in the womb. From what I can tell your child or children will have a high chance of having a learning disability, probably dyslexia. Outside of that they'll be fine." The Researcher pats you on the shoulder comfortingly.

What do you wish to do now Dirk?
>>
>>26492035
"That's... not really a nice thing to know. Fuck my life sucks."

Ask him about what else are they developing at the moment, especially about X-Rounder tech.
And why the hell Asemu?
>>
>>26492235
That's a good question. Do they have all our data here?
>>
>>26492035
Ask him how he knows all that from the top of his head. He's not examining our DNA right now, is he?
>>
>>26492035
Well, it's almost a given now. We're still going to have to deal with Kio. Canon characters just will not be erased from the time stream, somehow. We need to ask Daiki what that's about. The time shift erased his crew's families from existence, but not Flit or any of his his descendants? How does that work? Then again, that detail might just have been another hallucination on Daiki's part. We should check into that. I'm sure Daiki or Jake probably looked it up at some point over the years, but we should still get someone to check on it. Not that Dirk knows, but Daiki met Kio, so he should notice something weird going on in about twenty years.

Anyway, let's thank the nice researcher and then check in with Dique. He said he had a surprise. I hope it's a Hyper DODS.
>>
>>26492375
Yeah, he is. The narration mentioned blood tests. Pretty fast gene sequencing they've got there, but it's not implausible.
>>
>>26492407
(I may fib on the time it takes for certain things so the flow of the Quest doesn't tank. I mean do you guys really want to stand around for hours waiting for tests to finish while I tell you guys what magazine Dirk fell asleep reading?)

>>26492391
>>26492278
>>26492132
> Ask him about what else are they developing at the moment, especially about X-Rounder tech.

“Well considering we barely have any X-Rounders outside of the Magnificent 7, not much. I know the guys in the labs are smoothing out the Bit-Control System and are having issues with an Anti-Bit System due to the fact X-Waves aren't like radio or radar waves, they can’t easily be blocked or disrupted by anything other than X-Waves. X-Rounder tech isn’t very useful to us at the moment due to our lack of X-Rounders. Our biggest developments are in conventional weaponry and mobile suits. That’s what I’ve heard at least. If you want to know more go and see Liz. She's the head of the Mobile Suit R&D here on Big Ring" The scientist suggests.

"We have another appointment to make, but thanks for answer our questions and telling us there won't be any clones!" You say, waving goodbye as you make your way back to the Diva to check with Dique...

(Cont)
>>
>>26492391
Maybe time needs to catch up with Daiki? We ask him about Kio, he begins retelling a story and then realizes that that's not how it happened, but that time travel has messed with his head. But apparently canon characters are here to stay, though Kio might not end up as Space Jesus considering how he'll be raised in a lab. Poor Kio.
As for the surprise, considering our luck recently, it's going to be a cool upgrade for Asemu and the Merlin breaking down for no reason. And some guy Hunter is there.

>>26492407
Well, it's Leviathan. If someone has access to insane old tech, it's probably them.
>>
>>26492483
Oh, I wasn't complaining about the fast gene sequencing. It's a 1100 years from now. Even if a lot of it got lost after the Colony Wars, tech should still be pretty advanced. We're getting to the point of rapid sequencing already in the real world, no reason the space future can't have it.

Arriving back on the Diva you make your way to the hanger and find Dique working on two sets of unusual parts.
“Boys! I’m glad you arrived. I have some good news for you. After that battle with Zeheart the AGE Builder finished its work on a new DODS Rifle and two sets of parts for the AGE-2 and the Merlin Gundam.” Dique announces in excitement.
Your face and Asemu’s light up like Christmas Trees upon seeing the wears.

“First things first is the new DODS Rifle. It’s called a Hyper DOS Rifle. Don’t have much data on it yet, but it’s supposed to have doubled the power and penetration of a regular DODS Rifle. Problem is it uses twice the power, so you have a significantly limited number of shots with it. Only 15 per E-Clip compared to a regular DODS weapons 80.” Dique says, showing you a pair of nice looking rifles.

“The second thing is for Asemu. There was another wear that popped out, called the Double Bullet but Akito called dibs. Thankfully we have the Geist Wear for you to use. It’s a high mobility wear utilizing Vagan Light-propulsion engines in the binders. It’s based off Jake’s old Chimera Cowl and the data we’ve collected off the new Vagan suits you guys have fought. It also comes with the Ganymedecus High-Frequency blade. With this you’ll be zipping around the battlefield and cutting enemies to ribbons” Dique says with excitement. “Well, that’s if it works properly of course.”

“For you the AGE Builder popped out something called the Lunar Frame. It’s a set of modules that will make combat on and around the moon’s surface a lot easier. Outside of that I don’t know a lot about its functions. You’ll have to test out the Frame yourself if you want to know more about it.” Dique admits, the Dark Blue/Purplish parts as nice a glossy with a new smell coming off of them.

What do you wish to do Dirk?
>>
>>26492802
Okay, let's send the data for the HDODS back to Zarth, along with these new blueprints.
And lets finally take Woolf up on that offer to teach us to fly, might as well test out the new wears.

Lunar Frame, you say? Oh my yes. Anything like pic related?

Do we have Hyper DODS for the rest of the team, or just the Gundams? Also, did Akito get the original AGE-2 from Flit at some point? Because I can't see why else he would want the Double Bullet. Nice job tying the Geist Wear to the Chimera Cowl, by the way. It's a neat touch.

Flit gave his AGE-2 to Akito because he wanted to upgrade his old AGE-1 a bit. Yurika is still flying around in another AGE-1 with the Phoenix wear, though we can build her one AGE-2 as well considering how her brother can't fly with his injuries. Yet.

We should start producing the Hyper DODS for the rest of the team, and leave the blueprints here as well. We don't want to be using old tech when the Vagans arrive.
>>
>>26492942
(It looks something like the pic and thank you, the Geist looks similar to the Chimera Cowl in my mind)

Apparently Akito did get the original AGE-2 from Flit, AGE System and all, at least that's what Dique tells you.

You only have two Hyper DODS Rifles, that's because Dique doesn't want the others to touch them until they're cleared as safe. Not everything the AGE Builder churns out works all the time after all.

>>26492903
Retrieving the data and blueprints from Dique you transmit it to Zarth and look around for Woolf to get some training in before you go to the Moon.

You find him and convince him to take you out. Launching with the new Luna Wear, and Asemu launching in the Geist Wear, the two of you spare a little and train with Woolf.

The first thing you notice is the Geist Wear gives a significant boost in mobility and to the AGE-2 Flat while allowing a lot of control compared to a set of boosters. The Ganymedecus High-Frequency Blade also seems like a pretty fearsome weapon, even if it's just cutting through dummy balloons.

The Luna Wear makes the controls a lot tighter then before, the Merlin responds very well to the wear despite the extra weight. Apparently the Luna Wear automatically adjusts itself to Space and Low-Gravity environments. Combat on the Moon is new to you, but you've heard how difficult ground combat there can be with an improperly adjusted mobile suit. Those same adjustments can also fuck up a mobile suits Balancer and make them vulnerable in space combat.

With the Luna Wear, you won't have to worry about that. On top of that you have a pair of 'Scissor Anchors' on the waist of the Merlin now. Rocket propelled, these launch out, clamp onto a target and reel them into melee range while cutting into their armor. The Scissor Anchors along with the Beam Javelin that came with the Luna Wear will make melee combat more dangerous for your foes.

>Pilot Skill increased to 50%

Returning to the hanger, you notice it's been over an hour since you talked with Admiral Flit. He should be finished looking over the Nano-Tech Data you gave him.

What do you wish to do Dirk?
>>
>>26493323
Go look for the Admiral. Alone, this time. Dirk's a bit obtuse, but he has to have noticed how uncomfortable Asemu is with the issue of Flit. Might not know why, but he wouldn't want to make his friend do anything that would be unpleasant for him.

Speaking of nanotech, how's MID doing? I feel kind of bad for him, stuck to our arm like this. Is there any way he could modify himself to bud off a little drone that he can move his processor to and get some mobility? Even if he had to stay stuck to us he could at least get a remote-controlled system. Having him constantly with us is nice, but it's just not the same without him rolling around all over the place.
>>
>>26493323
Let's hit the R&D again. Maybe Flit left something for Liz there. If not, hey, it's Liz, she can help us tweak our suits a bit and give us some new tech.

As for the Lunar, it is kinda like the Avalanche, isn't it? Additional heavy armor, with some new thrusters and balancing mechanisms that allow what's basically a tank to move like a jet. Side note, those anchors needs to be modified so it delivers an electric shock to the target it hits and shuts them down momentarily, and the ability to be detached if necessary. And that extra armor could have some slots for more dirty tricks to be installed.
>>
>>26493435
You know, it's weird how nobody but Asemu commented on us having a nanotech arm.

And how did MID attach itself to us? Did he leave the stump as is, or did he clean it up and surgically remove dead tissue first? Did he eat some of our flesh so he can adapt to it? Is he growing? How will we shower with him as our arm? And more uncomfortable questions? But seriously, we should see if we can upgrade that arm a bit, maybe have some hacking tools or something in it. Or even let him link with the Merlin the same way MaG does.
>>
>>26493435
>>26493504
MID appears to be quite happy to be with you. No one's mentioned your arm because, do you really want to mention how someone's arm looks when it looks like it could rip your head from your body in a single motion?

As for the details of how MID attached, you aren't entirely sure. However you know for a fact that MID is waterproofed and is not growing, at least in size anyway.

"Hey MID? Do you have a problem being stuck to my arm all day? I mean you said yourself that your implants went pretty deep..."

Suddenly you lose control of your prosthetic arm and it begins spinning around. After several turns it detaches and drops to the floor and begins scurrying around you, using it's fingers like little legs.

You see that MID did not leave a stump, and instead replaced the dead tissue with what can only be described as a 'port' for the arm to screw into and lock. It looks pretty advanced and solid, confirming that MID's implants run deep into your body to prevent him from being ripped out.

"I'm not stuck, I can pop off whenever I want!" He exclaims, crawling up your pant leg and latching onto your 'stump' before reattaching himself.

After asking MID not to freak you out, you make notes to modify the Luna Frame's anchors before you you leave to talk with the Admiral, alone this time. You can tell that Asemu seems rather uncomfortable and angry around Flit. He won't tell you why, but you don't need to ask if he wants to come along.

Arriving at Flit's office you enter and take a see.

"This data...has the power to change a lot of things. With this data we could produce new weapons, more advanced mobile suits, and faster cheaper means of constructing. I want you to start working on modifying the AGE Builder to use Nano-Machines immediately. I want you to be careful however. If something happens or the Nano-machines are programmed improperly we could have a lot of problems on our hands" Flit states, looking quite invigorated.

"Keep this a secret however. Once you get a working Nano-AGE Builder, give the data to Liz down in R&D. No one but you, Me, Jake, Rena and Liz can know about this. Don't tell anyone about this over insecure communications."

Your thoughts Dirk?
>>

>>
>>26494134
"By the way, do you know anything about Asemu's mom? 'Cause she seems to still be alive. She swiped genetic samples from Asemu and me for something."

Maybe mentioning this isn't a good idea after all...
>>
>>26494196
Wow, let's not do that. For all we know, Emily got transferred to the Diva on behalf of Leviathan.
>>
>>26494282
Didn't she actually say she was? Let me check that thread. Yeah, Emily said she was the new doctor on the Diva. Though she might have just been messing with us. I hope she is, though. I want to see her interact with Woolf and Millais. I doubt they'll accept whatever excuse you have for abandoning their boy, Emily.
>>
>>26494282
Gonna be a fucked up situation any way it goes. But, yeah, this might not be the time to mention it. It'll bite us in the ass either way it goes. Either Dirk says nothing and we end up with a shit-load of X-Rounder super-soldiers fucking around, or mention it and possibly kick off a civil war right when the war with the Vagan is heating up again. What a cluster-fuck.
>>
>>26494029
What should we call the project? It needs a cool name. I'm thinking something like "EON System" where EON stands for Evolutionary ______ Nanofabrication. I just want to use that acronym for the successor to the AGE. Puns and what not. Anyone got any ideas for something for the O to stand for?
>>
>>26494367
Yeah, we're up for some drama either way. Emily aboard the Diva, Woolf and Millais confronting her, Asemu revealing who his father is, Yurika and Akito working for Leviathan against Flit's wishes, Akito and Flit in what's probably the argument that's going to split the Asunos...

>>26494370
The civil war thing is probably going to happen either way. I mean, we're currently on a secret mission from Grodek to find out Leviathan traitors who want to take over the Federation, but for all we know, Grodek might be the traitor who wants to take over and we're helping him with that.

As for the X-Rounder army thing, who's to say Vagan isn't already making one? They've got those Psycommu helmet thingies already, they've been messing with creating artificial X-Rounders back in Gen-1, and they apparently are light-years ahead of us with genetic engineering.

>>26494431
The Nanotechnology-Generating AGE Builder. Or the N-GAGE. It's going to suck.
>>
>>26494431

>>26494134
"Understood. I'd rather not end up as a puddle of grey goo because some nut-job got a hold of working nano-tech. We've got enough to worry about already." You say, wiping your brow.

"I'm glad you understand the dangers of this technology" Flit says with a nod.

"Sir, yes sir. Do you need us to do something else while we're here? We're to move to Luna base soon."

"No. I would however like to ask you to watch over Akito and Yurika for me. Akito is probably going to go into combat despite his injury and knowing Yurika she's probably going to follow. I'd do something, but every time I try to help Akito he only gets upset. Whatever you do, don't tell me I asked you to watch his back." Flit asks.

What do you say Dirk?
>>
>>26494518
"I would've done that without you asking me, sir. They're my friends, after all. I'll do my best to keep them safe."
>>
>>26494518
"Of course, sir. For what it's worth, I don't think he's mad at you. He's just working his way through some insecurities right now, and needs to prove to himself that he's competent. Hard to do that with your father watching over you. I'll do what I can to help him."
>>
>>26494464
You're right about civil war likely being inevitable. I'd just rather have a coup-de-tat than a civil war. Where Grodek is concerned, I doubt he wants to take over the Federation. Get rid of the traitors he suspects, sure. Overthrowing the Federation and risking the damage a civil war could cause? Probably not.

>>26494518
"No need to ask. I'll do my best to get them back home safely."
>>
>>26494643
>"Of course, sir. For what it's worth, I don't think he's mad at you. He's just working his way through some insecurities right now, and needs to prove to himself that he's competent. Hard to do that with your father watching over you. I'll do what I can to help him."

"Thank you Dirk. You're a lot like your father, minus his obsession with pancakes of course." Flit says with a grin.

"Oh, so that's why you always invite us to dinner and not the other way around..." You suddenly realize why you rarely have people over to eat when it's not a cookout.

You leave Flits office.

Now what do you wish to do Dirk? You have three hours till you leave for Luna.
>>
>>26494709
Let's bring that data to Liz.

>>26494680
Well, we know that Grodek is the Supreme Commander of their forces. That doesn't mean that he's the only one guy in command. Grodek probably still wants to exterminate all the Vagans, so he doesn't give a fuck about Federation politics as long as he has something to kill. Or maybe he got better and is now just a disillusioned bitter man who simply does his job regardless of where the orders come from.

A coup would be preferable, I agree with you on that. They do have the best troops and far greater numbers than the Feds do already, better tech, better funding, so it's a safe bet that they'll just do that, instead of going for an all-out civil war, especially with the Vagans hanging around. Maybe it'd end with them becoming the Empire and Akdamut becoming the Rebels.
>>
>>26494709
Let's go to Liz. We need to set up a secure means of sending her our results with the nanotech. Sure, we know she won't speak a word of it to anyone, but that doesn't mean it won't get intercepted.
>>
Side note, we should probably research some sort of nail bombs that could be used against those spider robots. They'll probably do little damage against mobile suits (maybe blind them or something) but the shrapnel should be devastating against lightly armored foes.
>>
>>26494746
>>26494746
You go down to the R&D Lab to meet this 'Liz' Flit and that researcher mentioned. After a long walk and several security checkpoints you reach a large workshop with a dozen prototypes, unusual parts and devices scattered around the room.

At first it seems empty but you quickly notice a women disassembling what appears to be the heat of an Adele with the screen removed you can see the Gundam Face underneath.

"Uh, excuse me? Are you Liz?" You ask.

The women turns, smiles and nods at you. You notice her hair is dyed a lime green color.

"I'm Dirk Crocker. Admiral Flit told me to give you this data for safe keeping and study. It's data on Nano-Machines, very hush hush. He wants us to build an AGE Builder that utilizes them."

She makes a lot of gestures with her hands.

"Shit, you're mute aren't you? I'm sorry I don't know sign language..." You admit, causing Liz to roll her eyes and grab a pad of paper.

"Alright. You need to go to Luna in a bit right? You work on building the prototype builder, I'll work on running experiments with the nano machines. OK?" Liz writes.

What do you think Dirk?
>>
>>26495273
"Sure thing."
>>
>>26495299
"Good. I'll get to work on my experiments. This is experimental tech so this will take a while. I suggest you get to work as well. I'll send over some materials to the Diva for you to work with." Liz writes before you nod in agreement and leave after looking around at the lab.

"Hey do you have any-"

"No" Liz rights in bold.

"But I didn't..."

"Your father was the same way. No. I don't have anything for you to use. Now go get to work."

Leaving the lab you check the time.

You have 2 and a half hours till you leave for Luna.

Do you wish to get to work or do you have something else you want to do?
>>
>>26495273
"Works for me."

Make sure we have the Hy-DODS and the 180s packed up for the trip to Luna. Grab the data on everything for our AGE Builder as well. Soon, it will be time for SCIENCE.
>>
>>26495447
We should probably call Dique, tell him to send the data from the HDODS and all that to Liz for further notice.

Anyway, let's look around Big Ring a bit. Who knows who or what else we can find hanging around.
Everything to delay the chat with Mellis about losing our arm. Mom's going to kill us.
>>
>>26495481
You have a pair of Prototype Hy-DODS Rifles onboard the Diva along with several 180s. You've got plenty of data for your experiments.

Gathering your materials you get to work...

>2 Hours: 75, 62, 41, 19
>Extra Hours: 26, 96, 8, 4

The first 2 hours go pretty smoothly. You design the basic frame and structure of the machine. It's around the same size of the original AGE Builder, not because of the needed machinery but the needed space to build large objects and contain the nano-machines. >75, 62, 41

After that things get a little complicated. Making the Nano-machine cluster was easy. >8

Getting them programmed however totally stumped you.
They weren't doing anything, they were basically dead on creation. >96

However after a bit of messing around you learn you need to program the nanomachines before creation. It's complicated, but it makes sense. You can't give the nano-machines orders and programs if they don't know what frequency to receive the instructions from. After incinerating the dead batch you make a new batch and give them basic programming during creation. >8, 4

Installing it in the new AGE Builder you get ready to begin experimenting with building them when Arisa taps you on the shoulder.

"Dirk? I've been shouting at you a minute straight! We need to meet in the briefing room for mission details. Come on the briefing is in 5 minutes! Why do you smell like poop?"

It appears you had your first 'Dad Moment'.

What do you wish to do Dirk? You want to clean up or just go straight to the briefing?
>>

"Uhhh... It's the oil."
Let's get cleaned up first.

It's a wonder we're standing, so I wouldn't be surprised if all the meds have a nasty side effect on us for a while.
>>
>>26496147
After showering, cursing your pants, and changing you manage to get the briefing moments before it starts. Captain Millais stands in front of everyone with a projection of a map of the moon behind you.

"The Vagan are in the process of assaulting Luna base. Our defenses are holding, however their defenses in other areas around the base are limited. We believe the Vagans are going to attempt a long range artillery bombardment from one of five positions." The positions show up on the map.

"LEVIATHAN Forces will handle areas 1 through 4. Woolf's Team will handle area 5. Expect heavy artillery, anti-fortress mobile suits and their support units. We are set to launch in 15 minutes. Dismissed" The lights come up and everyone begins to scatter.

You have 15 minutes till launch. What do you wish to do Dirk?
>>
>>26496454
Order the AGE builder to make some 180s and HDODSes for the team.
Lets see what's the plan for the operation.
>>
>>26496454
We probably don't have time to electrify the Scissor Anchors. Let's just get everything loaded out. Lunar Frame, Hy-DODS, grenade launchers in the arm mounts. We want heavy firepower.

Actually, before we do that we should secure the nanites. Don't want them getting loose during the fight. Probably won't go grey goo, but them spilling would set us back a lot of work. We don't have time to shit our pants working. Not again.
>>
>>26496538
Well, the ride to the moon is going to take a while, so we might have enough time to upgrade the scissors.
>>
>>26496454
Better arm up the Merlin. Artillery and heavy weapons MS to deal with, eh? Grab one of the 180s, some extra magazines, and a bullpup rifle as a backup weapon. The high power of the SSW (squad support weapon/180mm rifle) could cut through any MS and most MA like a hot knife through butter. Better take a bullpup as a backup incase of malfunctions with the SSW.

Give the Hy-DODS and a few SSWs to our teammates to test out. Artillery and Assault MS will take a lot of killing.

Can we count on the Diva for fire support? If worst comes to worst, a barrage from the Diva's missiles, beam cannons, and/or railcannons could save our asses.
>>
>>26496577
Diva's sure to give us some support. We're probably going to hit the Vagans from behind, while they're attacking the Luna base.
Which is weird, considering how apparently Luna base wasn't really important (it was a refugee center) because Big Ring was a thing.
Maybe this is a diversion?

Anyway, we should check on Flit's kids as well - we don't want Akito to do something stupid. Yet.
>>
>>26496577
We've got the chaingun/ grenade launcher arms, too. Plenty of solid munitions to fire in case we have problems with the big guns. The Merlin's pretty heavily armed in its current configuration. Hand-carried heavy rifle and beam lance, arm-mounted suppressing fire railguns and anti-ship grenades, hip-mounted scissor anchors, and beam blades in the knees. Which it just occurred to me we have to combo with the scissor anchors at some point. Haul the enemy in and knee them in the face. That'll be fun.
>>
>>26496693
We have to yell "GET OVER HERE" while doing that.
>>
>>26496570
(You are already at the moon. You are launching in 15 minutes. You've were working for quite a while)

>>26496538
Sadly in your Pants Pooping state you forgot to modify the Scissor Anchors. Seeing as how there are only two Prototypes of the Hyper DODS Rifle you and Asemu take them since Dique wouldn't mass produce them specifically so the others wouldn't blow up using them. The rest of the team loads up with Heavy Rifles, EM Bullpups, and plenty of explosives and ammo.

You load up with a Hy-DODS and a 180mm Heavy Rifle, aclipped grenade launchers on one arm and a vulcan cannon on the, and plenty of ammo to boot along with the beam Javelin.

>>26496658
>>26496577
You should be able to count on the Diva for fire support if ships don't show up.

The mission is to guard a sector from the Vagans so they can't launch artillery attacks on the Luna Base. The Vagans are already attacking the base, but they haven't gotten to those positions yet. You should have some time before they arrive, but when they do they are going to show up in force.

Woolf and the others are loaded and ready to go. Anything you want to say before you all launch?
>>
>>26496658
Our changes to the timeline could have made Luna Base more important to the war effort. Or it could be another dick move by some self-righteous Vagan fatherfucker to kill off a bunch of people for shits and giggles-I mean the GLORIOUS STRUGGLE!

>>26496693
Mn-hm. I had forgotten about the arm cannons. Stupid of me, considering that was my idea to begin with! God, this thing's a beast at range.

What kind of rifle does the Lunar Frame carry, though? Is it a Hy-DODS or a SSW? It'll wreck shit either way, but the SSW has longer range and is harder to see.
>>
>>26496844
Apparently we have both. Damn. We are a monster. Anything we run into is going to explode itself our of fear before we even fire a shot.
>>
>>26496828
Oh, I thought we were on Big Ring still.
Let's hear what the plan is. Also, find Akito and Yurika, we don't want them dying out here.

>>26496844
I think it's more of a attachment on the good old Merlin. This thing is modular as they come, so it'd allow us to use all our good old stuff, while improving on our armor, mobility, speed and giving us that sweet scissor anchor.

Hy-DODS and the 180 SSW? Is Dirk duel-wielding rifles? May want to consider adding sub-arms for reloading in the future, if Dirk decides to start dual-wielding rifles. Otherwise, he'll need to either drop one of the rifles or set one on a hard-point to load the other.

I'm slightly confused what you loaded the arms with. Did Dirk remove one of the arm cannons for a grenade magazine? The design (as I remember it) was for a 2-tube grenade launcher on the back of the hands and 90mm tribarrels in the forearms, with the option of removing the 90mm for an extended magazine for the launchers.

As for a speech, I got nothing right now.
>>
>>26497088
(Not Duel Wielding, but Considering the limited ammo capacity of both rifles it seemed like a good idea to take both in case one ran out of ammo or was destroyed)

>Current Loadout
1x Prototype Hyper DODS Rifle (15 Shots an E-Clip, Carrying 5 clips)

1x Heavy 180mm Rifle (5 Shots a Clips, Carrying 8 Clips)

2x Beam Emiters in knees (High Power, Capable of Piercing thick Armor)

1x 90mm Rotary Vulcan Cannon. (3000 Rounds total, mounted on left arm)

1x Clipfed 2-Barrel Grenade Launcher (10 shots a clip)

2x Scissor Anchors (Rocket Propelled. Maximum Grab Range of 50 meters)

1x Beam Javelin

>>26496929
Akito and Yurika have already loaded up and are getting ready for the catapult as you think.

"So Commander Woolf what's the plan?" You ask.

"Take defensive positions in the craters in that sector and hide. Once the enemy shows up, which they probably will, we'll ambush them and let loose with everything we have." Woolf states.

"Akito, don't you have a hand injury?" Woolf asks.

"Last time I checked I was in my Gundam so even if I do it's fully healed." Akito snaps from his AGE-2 Double Bullet.

"Yeah the doctor cleared him and everything..." Yurika says from the AGE-1 Phoenix.

A mere minute before launch, anything you want to say Dirk? No need for a speech, but this is going to be a fierce battle. You could lose friends. Sure you don't want to say something to them?
>>
>>26497088
I think the idea with the two rifles is that we'll swap between them as needed. One stored on the back with the beam lance, one hand-carried. Though this makes me remember that we don't have a shield to go with our rifle. Would be useful to have, but that might overburden us a bit too much.

As for the weapons, we'll swap them as needed. The 180 for sniping and taking out heavies, the HDODS for taking out those who approach to close. Also, we might be dealing with robot spiders again, so better stock up on all the ammo we can carry.

Idea for once we get the nanomachines working: Motile anti-beam coating that can apply itself. Why? So one of Asemu's wear packs, preferably the one he dons at a dramatic moment, can turn his mobile suit white in the transformation. Because that would be cool.
>>
>>26497578
"Fine, just don't do something stupid."
The DB is a ranged suit, so he should be fine as long as he just keeps laying fire on them and uses his X-Rounder powers to avoid getting shot.

>>26497699
And it'd be useful for stealth.
And we didn't pack any anti-beam cloths or the cowls, though with the advanced Vagan weapons, I doubt they'll be of any use.

Double Bullet has some pretty good melee, too. The beam wings paired with normal beam sabers makes for very good melee defense. Combine with X-Rounder abilities and he should do pretty well if he gets cornered.

>>
>>26497857
Where Asemu and Woolf are. Those guys could use a ranged hitter.
Also, cut a private line to that asshole, ask him if he's really okay.

>>26497796
Yeah, but it's not the Double Blade. It was made for taking out multiple enemies, and uses those nasty DODS cannons to rip and tear from afar. Those things are stronger than a HDODS, and to top it off, they're reactor fed - so no need to worry about running out of ammo.
But he'll probably manage to handle himself.
>>
>>26497796
With his injury, Akito's better off working as fire support. The DB's beam cannons pack as much power as a beam magnum, so he can trash anything short of a MA easily.

>>26497857
Go to the left crater with Asemu, Wolf, and Arisa. Set up the 180 and act as sniper support. The SSW can kill anything short of a ship, and doesn't leave a highly visible trail like the Hy-DODS. The rest of our team in this crater leans more towards close-to-mid-range, so some long-range power could come in handy.
>>
>>26497857
Let's back up the Woolf Pack. That way each crater has two HY-DODS to it. Two on Akito's Double Bullet, one each on us and Asemu. Between our ranged capabilities and Asemu's speed, we should be able to come to the other crater's aid easily if needed, so we can still keep our promise to Flit. Besides, best way to keep Akito safe is to shoot everything down before it gets to him. Covering more fire zones is the way to do it.
>>
>>26497947
It goes something like this:
> Close range - Max, Arisa.
> Medium range - Woolf, Obright, Yurika, Asemu.
> Long range - Dirk, Akito.

Wait, the Phoenix goes in close as well, with strong medium / long range capacities.
And going over the stuff it can do, this thing is a monster.
> The Phoenix is a melee combat mobile suit equipped with the "Phoenix Wear" Multipurpose Weapon System, which are mounted on the mobile suit's shoulders, specially made for Daiki's combat style as it can assume to different forms and resonate better on his X-Rounder abilities. The "wings" can transform to suit its 3 different forms: the Long-Ranged Cannon Mode, the Defensive Shield Form, and the Close Combat Sword Mode. Aside from its wings, the AGE-1 Phoenix is also equipped with a sword and a shield.
> Because of its ability to reconfigure, the AGE-1 Phoenix surpasses the original AGE-1 in ranged combat, speed, and offensive and defensive capabilities. Since it's designed to harness an X-Rounder's potential, only Daiki himself can bring out its full potential.
> The AGE-1 Phoenix is equipped with a Phoenix Sword, modeled after the CMS-574E Elmeda's Heat Sword. The Phoenix Sword is designed to cut through enemy Mobile suits especially the Vagans. It can also combine with the Phoenix Shield and the Phoenix Wear to become the Phoenix Wear Sword Mode, which functions as a Buster Sword. In this mode, the AGE-1 Phoenix can execute both powerful attacks: the Rising Shoot attack and the Star Slash F.
This thing is a beast.

Climbing into the crater with Asemu and Woolf to give them a sniper, you adjust your mobile suit so it’s unseen and wait for the enemy to arrive. While you wait you open a private comm link with Akito.
“Hey man is everything alright?” You ask.

“Yes. I’m fine. My hand won’t be too much of an issue. So please, just stop bugging me about it. You’re starting to sound like my father.” Akito says with a sigh. “Just focus on the mission and don’t worry about me. I didn’t make it into Leviathan because of my father you know.”

After a few minutes of waiting you are informed by Obright that enemies are on the approach.

“We have 8 enemy units on approach. 4 Baqto and 4 Gafran. Older units. Probably scouting ahead for the main party. What do you want us to do Boss?” Obright asks Woolf as he ducks his Genoace III back into the creater.

“Stay put and stay low. We can’t take them out without alerting the others to our presence.” Woolf states.

What will you do Dirk? Follow Woolfs orders or disobey them?

>>
>>26498460
Follow orders. Keep a bead on one of the Baqtos for now. If Woolf calls for the attack, Dirk needs to be ready. Can Dirk share targeting info with the squad without alerting the Vagan? We don't want to fry someone else's target and leave an MS unengaged.
>>
>>26498460
Did Akito take meds for the hand pain? Or at least a shot?
>>
>>26498701
He has a dislocated shoulder and a stabbed hand.
With enough painkillers, he should be able to bear it, but his mobility will probably be bust, even with him being an X-Rounder.
We should ask his sister (over a private channel) if he's really okay. That, and tell her to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid.
>>
>>26498739
Depending on how good Vagan ECM is, trying to contact Yurika could get Dirk killed right now. The Vagan don't know where our MS are right now, but if Dirk opens up a comms channel the Vagan could pick it up and home in on his squad. I could be overestimating their equipment and training, but better play it safe.
>>
>>26498826
Point. Let's do this later.

>>26498500
You stay put and follow Woolf’s orders. After a bit of searching the Vagan scouts stop moving and after peaking out over the edge of the crater you see more enemies in the distance. Three large mobile suits with long legs and MASSIVE guns trudge forward, followed by heavily armored mobile suits. The heavily armored suits appear to be some variant of the Abigel model.

There are numerous purple suits guarding them. They are a model you aren’t familiar with, but look similar to the ones that attacked Zarth minus the green paintjob and the whips.
Before Woolf can give the order to fire, one of the Gafran glances in your direction and spots your head.

Raising it's arm to fire, you fire first and take off it's head with a shot from 180mm. Unphased by the destruction of it's head it flips out it's tail rifle and fires at you, the shot glancing off your shoulder armor.

Firing again, this time aiming for the chest you destroy the suit but now the enemy knows you are there.

"Open fire!" Woolf shouts.

And the battle began...

(This is where we will stop today.)

(Well that and I wanted to get across the suits weren't being piloted by people)

Night everyone. Things are getting awesome! I can't wait till Gen 3! Of course I'm probably getting ahead of myself.

Slow down, we just started Gen-2 properly.
We still have a lot of work ahead of us.

Exactly. Center of mass is the way to go. Bigger target and with any practical gun you'll still get a kill. It should work the same on a mobile suit with a chest full of fusion reactor. But I guess it served the point of showing these were AI or remote control, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Rule of cool, all that stuff.

Should we be worried about your longing for Gen 3? That sounded ominous. I guess I'll just have to console myself with the knowledge we have nanotech now and can do horrible, horrible things with the machines we build in the next twenty-four years.

Gen-3's going to be interesting, to say the least.
Cyborg Zeheart taking down Ezelcant and assuming control of Vagan when he realizes that the old fart is insane. SIN drones everywhere. And who knows what else.
