@GhostAdjutant

Your codename is Delta Phoenix. You were once a ghost of the Terran Dominion. After Arcturus Mengsk died and Korhal fell you defected from the Dominion. Now you fight for freedom and attempt to unify the fringes against a coming Zerg threat. The Dominion continues to hunt you, as do criminals and bounty hunters.

You've begun to turn the tides. War between Terrans is all but coming to an end. Now the fringes are the battlegrounds of the remaining Protoss and Zerg, as Corendis is consumed in a maelstrom of battle. The Dominion fleet lies broken, their bases the last bastions of resistance outside of Dominion territory.

Your fleet is in orbit over Kilaro. After your near-death experience, you've returned to the Daluke. Alpha is still alive, somewhere. The Kilaran government- the council of seven- wishes to speak to your directly.

Adjutant A.I. Online.
Good Morning, Commander.
>>
((I'm beginning this thread out of Character for one reason: To tell you I won't be breaking character again. That said, after reading what those of you like to complain have to say, I feel a few things deserve answers. The game is based on Starcraft, an RTS. But quests are, at their core, RPGs. Anyone who complains about with-held information and has not specifically asked to contact a specialist on their crew of their opinion has no right to. I understand that, in many situations, I will give you a few brief lines of dialog from any given NPC when someone goes "ask everyone hurr". But I have a saying. Garbage in, Garbage out. If you don't give a fuck who answers, I don't give a fuck how good the advice is, or if it's even relevant. You're an intelligence officer, the first goal in any situation should be intelligence. If you don't gather intelligence, it doesn't exist, and I will use that fact against you because I am a firm believer in Murphy's law. It's not my job to prevent that. It's yours.

About me 'rushing you to decisions' and not allowing this, there is one psuedo-exception. Combat situations without a discussion phase. They have 'right' answers, 'wrong' answers, and moral decisions. Yes, in some situations, you could use psionics. But I am giving you a test when I ask you if you want to fight roaches with Hellfire Grenades or EMP grenades. I am testing either your logic or your game mechanics. There's sometimes a token dice roll to determine how -well- your plan is executed, but you'll generally win or lose based on the decision. I haven't made this point clear because, obviously, knowing that this is what's going on is a huge deal. You won't over-think it. You won't panic. I want you to panic. I want you to become emotionally attached because of that sense of impending danger.))
>>
>>26478964

((People seem to think I have the mentality of 'QM vs PCs'. I don't. That's rookie stuff. I do, however, get into character and taunt you with that knowledge. I play as Alpha. I play as the Queen. I play as Adjutant. I want to see you win, and I want to see you lose, simultaneously. This may not be apparent because I occasionally do get fed up with people who just flat out aren't trying, paying attention, or would rather complain about how unfair the game is.

The game -is- unfair. I have never kept that a secret.

You are going to lose. Even if you win. There are only bad endings. You just get to choose which bad ending.

You are going to lose every marine you build. I'm going to roll casualties every fight, win or lose. Because this is starcraft and the Marine said it better than I ever could. "You ever notice no one goes -back- to the barracks?"))
>>
>>26478974

((Now, some people think that I favor all the NPCs, and I just have it out for the PC. I don't. When Delta's gender was decided I wrote myself a huge backstory, I got more attached to this character, before I killed it and handed it to you. Entire sections of it will never see the light of day because the only relevant character is dead. You don't get to confront Whiskey about his betrayal. You don't get to know that they held his memories hostage, as well. You don't get to know that he kept Charlie alive because he felt indebted to you.

No one asks Henderson if he loves his Mama. No one asks Mia why she got that tattoo. No one asks Barney why his favorite color is purple. No one asks Mac why he works so hard. Half of you just accept that they're there and they save you occasionally, and the other half resent them for apparent favoritism.

The problem is that the PC is the only one who isn't playing the game by the right set of rules. The hero units are hero units -because- of their competence. Mia is a veteran pilot. Henderson is a mix of Tychus and 80's comic book power fantasies. Barney is so huge he straight up picked up a guy in a CMC and threw him. This isn't me playing favorites, this is me giving you tools because you would've died by now, otherwise. You just fail to see them as tools. You fail to see them as anything.

But the thing is, eventually they're all going to die before you do.

Every last one. You're going to be the last man standing.

And you're going to hate yourself for it.

So sit back, buckle in, and prepare for the last few threads with a completely in character Adjutant.))

>"Commander Delta. I am High Councillor Avilias. On behalf of the people of Kilaro I would like to offer you my heartfelt gratitude. If not for your repeated assistance we would've fallen long ago. I'm afraid there is not much we can offer you in the way of materials, but there is something we can offer you in the way of information. Prior to the fall of Korhal many universities here did work for the Dominion. Now, with our freedom, they are our most prevalent enemy. We would offer you all of our information on their installation at Promeshi."

Schematics are brought up on the main screen. Base layout, unit positions, automated defenses, security codes.

>"From what we know it was a frontier facility intended to test Dominion weapons on the colonies in the region, such as Murric or New Albuquerque. Schematics for every. last. bit. of Dominion hardware can be accessed there. Thors, Widow Mines, and god knows what else. The problem is the facility also houses an experimental ghost training program. And that... even we fail to have information on."

>"Thank you, Councilman. I'm sure we can put this information to good use. Have you received the supplies I've sent?"

>"Yes, and at the request of your head engineer, we've established the base just off-campus near our most prestigious university. I'm sure your recruitment efforts will be useful as there's no doubt a lot of young scientists and engineers looking to help you against the Zerg and the Dominion."

You nod and end the transmission. Then you review the casualty report for the fight for Kilaro.

Doc first, concerns our health or a road to it.

>>
>>26478980
well...that was a rather depressing few posts.
Not that I don't get why you did it, but...man, why am I playing if there are only bad endings? It feels like Dark Souls with no restarts.

I feel bad about losing big chunks of backstory too, you know. I WANT to see all that stuff, and I WISH I could play a more competent PC.

But it's not JUST me playing. It's not JUST any anon playing. It's a bunch of us who talk about shit and argue over which idea would get us a better chance to win.

But you said yourself you don't win, so...I dunno what all the arguing is really for, in the end. To make us feel like we tried I guess.

Alright, now is a good as time as any to strike at the Dominion Base since they did just lose 5 battlecruisers.

Still we should find out what the others have to say.

I guess that depends on what you mean by 'heavily defended'.
If we had a stealth strike craft to ride in on, maybe one of the ships that cloak that we own?, we may slip past any Overseers unless the air around the planet is just polluted with them.

Besides ghosts, it might be wise to bring some Widow Mines on a mission like that. Good at killing workers, they are. What do you think Doc?

Aw crap, too late.

Fine then, we'll go with something like

>"I'm not the one with psychic radar. I'll help you, but I don't think I should take him on by myself. We have no idea what kind of trap he might have set."
>>
Okay lets get do this plan

We first gotta recruit like mad especially in the space combat section. I say we get some mercs with a fucking minotaur class battlecruiser. We need fucking fleets of battlecruisers if we want to take that Dominion space yard

So get some additional smaller class battlecruisers

In order to do that we gotta mine like crazy

I suggest we build SEVERAL bases on different planets for whatever resources we we can mine.

Also Adjutant do we have a tech lab if not is there any offers from anyone for a tech lab and a fusion core? Check the black moon consortium (or whatever the name was) for offers

So Space yard first then we go for that zerg planet and bomb it to hell with nukes
>>
>>26479778
No no, not taking him on yourself, just meant finding out where he went...though I suppose you're right, we do have the radar.

Fine fine, but let's talk to everyone else first before we go chasing this guy.

Yes, let's move on to Mac and see what he has to say
>>
>>26479840
Yup, tell Charlie we'll get right on it.

Today's Agenda so far:
>Infiltrate a heavily fortified Zerg planet for gas and harrassment
>Track down an expert ghost who's specialty is going undercover
>Spread sunshine and kittens to the whole Fringe and unite them all under justice
>Fuck Adjutant's brains out, live happily ever after.
>>
>>26479840
So be it

How many resources do we have right now?

I wanna see how many bases we can establish.

Also I'd like us to buy some land on Murric for our tech lab connected with the space port and fusion core with it so we can make some battlecruisers
>>
>>26479876
We can't do shit about that zerg gas without that dominion equipment and for that we gotta get that Dominion space yard first. We crippled their fleet so we gotta quickly capitalize on that and round up some people to strike at that space yard
>>
>>26479876
I reckon killing Alpha should be first priority, before heaving to HA002, because he is on the planet we are on right now, we leave to do something else, and he will escape and it will fuck us over later
>>
>>26479950
Right so that's:
>Infiltrate Important Dominion Shipyard filled to the brim with guards
>???
>Take gas from heavily fortified Zerg planet
>????
> Win forever
>>
>>26479918
You have an excess of minerals and could establish about 10 command centers before it became an issue.
>>

Second, the Dominion base at Promeshi has a research A.I. developed by Kilaro. Looking at the specifics, if we were to obtain it, I could perform research without the prototyping phase. We'd be pushing the boundaries of Terran technological advances in a few hours."

That is a terrible idea, Commander.

Promeshi is a secret Dominion research installation. Schematics indicate that the automated defenses alone will pose a risk of serious casualties, and we do not have information on the ghost contingent there.

A more measured plan will be required.
>>
>>26480102
the Daluke is a gorgon, I doubt anything but the Skorpia shipyards is big enough to do the work needed
>>
>>26480094
Its gonna take too long to actually try and hunt him down. By the time we get him the Dominion ship yard housing the fleet we just thrashed from the earlier battle would call in reinforcement, repair, re arm and come back bigger and badder than last time. We gotta capitalize on the battle and strike them hard before they become a bigger and deadlier threat
>>
>>26480142
it won't take that long, we have Psionic Radar...

also, you seem to ignore the fact that Alpha will become the biggest threat in this sector to us besides the zerg if we don't deal with him
>>
>>26480125
Oh I thought it was on Kilaro and under the Kilaro gov control. My mistake

If that's the case then we set up a spaceport facility with a fusion reactor on either Kilaro or Murric. We gotta start building starships

And this is why nobody cares.
The shitposting was HORRIBLE in the first bunch of threads, no denying that, but then you refuse to give us basic information on the accounts of "But I was in Character. BAWWW!" and then blame it on us.
Nobody asks anything about anyone, because you keep killing them off. Why should we care that Mia is a pro whatever, or Henderson likes steaks when they're gonna get tossed into the meat grinder no matter what we do.
Hell, you want people to care about the other characters, then complain when we don't. This is ENTIRELY your fault. You wrote yourself into this uncaring corner.

>You are going to lose. Even if you win. There are only bad endings. You just get to choose which bad ending.
And this, this right here is bullshit. Starcraft is BETTER when you win. Sure it'll be hard as hell, and fighting through a gaunt paint of bullshit, but who didn't clench their fist and be all "Fuck yeah" when Raynor fought off the entire swarm, saved the girl, and possibly the universe. Sure he paid a high price, but it was a definite win that may have saved everything.

Honestly, I stopped caring awhile ago when the only interesting characters got killed off randomly and arbitrarily. I was sticking around to see if we could at least get a happy ending. But I appreciate you telling me that this is pretty much a railroaded story where it doesn't matter what we do. It means that I can spend my time elsewhere, and urge others to do the same. There are plenty of quests on /tg/ where shit you do matters, and you can win if you try.
>>
>>26480169
I don't see how a single ghost is deadlier than a pissed off Dominion fleet but you're right at the same time

I guess we do this

Adjutant can you check reports on any drop pods that recently landed on Kilaro and have the Kilaro gov sweep up the area around the drop pod for any unusual guests? Also us getting the location of the drop pods along with the closest towns would be great
>>
>>26480226

>"You wanted to speak to me, Officer."

We're not.. exactly consistent on what they might be capable of, however our science team suggests that if we're able to kill off the strain before its genetics are assimilated into the swarm we might be able to set the Zerg back."

Logic drives indicate that your opinion is invalid, commander.

If this were a work a fiction, the author already stated the character's importance to the story, and was likely attempting to illustrate the danger of the situation, the pointlessness of death, following the rules of random number generation, or other reasons.

However, as this is not a work of fiction, you should perhaps focus on the mission at hand.
>>
>>26480467
Officer can our radar pick up organic creatures?

If so I suggest we move the Daluke in with radars blaring on and shoot those new strains from the skies and have the firebats come in and burn the remains

>>26480506
There are big game hunters coming in from ship down to that planet leisurely hunting. I doubt theres any air resistance opposing us and besides there is no known zerg base established on that planet and even if there was I think it'll be too small for the big game hunting wardens to not know about it thus its quite basic too basic to pose a threat to our battlecruiser

The planet is currently in radio silence, Commander. We can expect that all of the big game hunters are dead or in hiding.

Okay then

I'm thinking we don't have several days

We have ravens then right?

If not we find someone selling it and get it

If so I suggest we do this
Leave Charlie and get her to coordinate Kilaro intelligence officials onto gathering intel and clues on the whereabouts of Alpha. Maybe even leaving henderson with her as backup with some detachments of marines for protection. No doubt Alpha is gunning for her.

Delta and Barney would go do that Jungle world along with several Medivacs, ravens and wraith support to investigate the current whereabouts of the game wardens and maybe gather enough hunters and guides from that world to effectively hunt down and destroy every last strain of this new predator.

Not sure if we should leave the Daluke on Kilaro or bring it to the jungle world. Probably a good idea to bring it to the jungle world but I have a bad feeling if we leave Kilaro out in the open.

Suggested Locations in order of projected difficulty:

>Barren World JZ01919/ Dick's Paradise: Mining Platform over a planet high in inorganic salts. Mining station is mostly abandoned. Zerg lifeforms minimal.
>Corendis: Jungle planet that was previously home to big game hunters. Radio contact ended a few hours ago after reports of new Zerg strains. Dark Templar may be present on the planet.
>Skorpia Shipyards: Dominion Fleet staging grounds over Vespene Gas Giant "Greth". Currently at minimal defense as it's fleet has been destroyed.
>Volcanic World HA002: Zerg Hive clusters in full swing. The planet is all but lost to the swarm. Serepene gas is present.
>Promeshi: Underground Dominion weapons testing installation. Massive nuclear arsenal and ghost training program.

basically we need to do every single one of these missions... and yet the way things go we we can't.

So prioritize

Alpha:

Cons: Won't effect the zerg. Will probably sabotage our efforts with unitning the fringe though.

Pros: He is RIGHT here. A few hours scanning and all we have to do is go down and kill him.

Big Game Hunter Zerg:

Pros: Destroy a zerg strand before it can integrate.

Cons: Takes time.

Psi Wave Device:

Pros: Zerg want it destroyed.

Cons: We have no idea what it does and if it will help us.

Dominion Base:

Pros: Needed for two quests. Do this

Cons: most likely heavily defended, will need to infiltrate instead of full on battle.
>>
>>26481113

Commander, even if you did, and assuming he did not take a dropship instead of a drop pod, it has still been several hours and the fastest means of locating Alpha remains your own psionic abilities.

Additionally, a 'total lockdown' is not possible, as Kilaro is a completely urban world, and struggling to supply it's own people. The population at large would start to riot and you are not equipped to handle that situation.

No more second chances. Alpha is too dangerous. He'll be able to undo everything you've worked for in a few days.

>"XO, take the bridge. I have to do a... thing."
>"Whatever you want to call it, Commander. I'll hold position."

You head to your own quarters and sit on your bed. You remove the helmet, freeing yourself from the constraints of the Adjutant's alerts and your own crew's demands.

You close your eyes and sense the planet below you. The screams and laughter of a billion souls. The tears and smiles of every man, woman, and child on that planet. You focus yourself. The psionics always stand out, like a burning fire amongst a field of dim lights.

There are several. Young children with Dominion refugees for parents. A man posing a professor at the university.

A man who doesn't know his own name. You focus. You find him. You project your mind to the surface of the planet.

>"She didn't remember anything. I don't know if I expected her to, but... it's like when they tell you about missions that you under-took, and you don't remember them, but you can see the officer remembers. -He- knows what you did."

Alpha's sitting on a crate of ammunition. He's holed up in a low-income apartment building. You hear children playing outside. He's in civilian clothes, blue jeans and his white long sleeved shirt, and that god-awful ascot. He's a good-looking man, blonde hair, blue eyes. In his hand he holds a huge survival knife. You remember it was Echo's. He appears to be talking to it.

>"Wish we'd known. You'd still be alive. She'd still be alive. Of course... wouldn't be her. She died a long time ago. The body just had to catch up."

He flips the knife around in his hand.

>"There's still Whiskey. There's still Charlie. I need to talk to them first. We might still be able to save these worlds, Eccy."

You return to your bed on the Daluke.

You know where he is.

Though it puts charlie in danger it might get him to let his guard down for a brief but crucial moment to tag him. If we go in ourselves he might notice our stealth approach and no doubt have them covered. He himself is a ghost after all so I don't think we can out stealth Alpha. If we get discovered we might not see in for a while because he knows we are somehow tracking him down with something. This'll force his hand to do something crazy against our crew.

tl;dr He's probably got every avenue of approach covered by traps and alarms. Get him now and he goes for the initiative. Charlie would get him to lower his guard

He's not trying to kill her yet so he wont have any reasons to try and use her against us. I'm not saying to let her get abducted and stay abducted for hours I'm saying when he's in the process of abducting her we track him to a place where he goes and try to talk to charlie and we go in bang and gas. He won't even think she's getting tracked making him lower his guard

i say put Charlie on that roof, to watch Alpha's buildings roof, while we go in via the field across the street, full stealth and be on the lookout for boodytraps, sensors, etc

The best way would be to deploy an ambush team on the roof and the ground with Recluse mines if Alpha decides to come up. Have Charlie cover the ground exit, wraiths backing up the roof and Delta to work her way up the building, since Alpha cannot possibly beat Delta in a straight up fight. The dropship lands at a small parking lot, where you and Charlie disembark. You fan out, activate your stealth, and head for the target building. You notice several men standing around the front door of the apartment building suspiciously. You don't need to be psychic to know they're guards, but, luckily for you, you are psychic.

You opt for the different entrance, and move to the side of the building between two alleys. Using your own skilled acrobatics you jump to the second story, then proceed to climb to the third. You break open a window and roll into the room. You glance around in absolute silence before you notice a little girl is looking directly at you despite your stealth. She holds a stuffed animal in one hand.

>"Are you a ghost?"

You stay perfectly still for a few moments before responding by bringing a finger up to your mouth.

You leave the awkward situation slowly and move out to the hall.

312, 313, 314....

You keep an eye open for traps, Dominion guards, something.

315, 316...

You lean up to the door and listen carefully.

>"What makes you so sure? Alright, get more men to the top of the tower. I'll move out the front. Let me suit up."

It's possible they found Charlie or at least know she's coming. He's heading out the front door. Now's your chance.

You walk through the door, rifle raised. You get a bead on Alpha. He slowly turns around, still unarmed and in civilian clothes.

The familiar sound of a bullet pacing through a silenced C-20-A barrel hits your ears just as his chest cavity decides to splatter the wall behind him red. The second round does the same. As does the third. He slowly sinks to the ground, his back propped up against one of the multiple ammunition crates. Blood runs freely from his mouth as he looks to you.

>"Good... game... Well played..."

You kneel down next to him. Your stealth fades with your focus. You're not quite sure why his death has such an impact on you.

>"You tried to kill me, Alpha."

He reaches up to his neck, and draws the orange Ascot away. He feebly holds it out to you.

>"Echo's... knife... on the table. Don't... forget us. No one else... remembers... ghosts..."

He passes away, his eyes still wide open. You close them, take the remaining momento, and tie the ascot around the knife.

>"Charlie, report."
>"Had to shoot my way up, Delta. He was expecting company on this side. Is he moving to the roof?"
>"Negative. Target is eliminated. Fall back to the LZ."

You take one of the wraiths to the surface, and disembark in the dense jungle. Rivers flow, but it's eerily silent apart from that.

>"Kassix. Where are you?"

Several dark templar materialize in front of you, Kassix foremost among them. You recognize them from your training. There are... less of them.

>"Soaring Phoenix. You have come to witness the afterbirth of the greatest foe we will yet face. Your kind joined us in hunting them, the Saltarlisk."

>"What are they, Kassix?"

>"Death. They are death. Come."

You follow him, eventually reaching the camp oft he big game hunters. A few steel prefabricated structures. Bodies, chunks of bodies rather, litter the field.

>"They are similar to Zerglings, though easily the size of a Hydralisk, and they stand upright. Their forearms are rending talons, and the rear legs capable of incredible leaps. But their physical form is not their strength. They are psychic. They are part of the hivemind, but they have their individuality. They are both primal Zerg and the swarm. They have the strengths of both. The weaknesses of neither. And they must all be destroyed, for like the cerebrates of old, their queen can reincarnate them. Death is not the end. They simply learn from it."

The carnage of the camp is unspeakable. It's clear there are no survivors.

Scans indicate three Recluse mines are available within the confines of the camp. You could attempt to set them in the treeline to catch them on the way in, or set them in the camp to prevent them from hiding when the battle starts.

The mines are good then, I don't want to kill them physically-like Kassix said, that just gives them achance to learn from their mistake.

Let's go set up that stuff and lure them in for the DTs to take control.
>>

>"One trait that all cerebrates shared was that of reincarnation. While the Overmind was alive, it could reincarnate a cerebrate through the use of cosmic energy. Slaying a cerebrate with this type of energy prevented reincarnation. Zasz, cerebrate of the Garm Brood, was permanently killed in this way by Zeratul, a Dark Templar. This created a brief mental link between the assassin and the Overmind; Zeratul learned of the Overmind's connection with the xel'naga and its plans for the Protoss race, while the Overmind learned the location of Aiur in a form it could use. The Overmind went into some kind of depression following this, and did not recover until the zerg completely destroyed the Garm Brood. Later, the protoss killed other cerebrates in deliberate attempts to "distract" the Overmind."

You scrounge together the mines and set them up in the buildings, hopefully preventing any Saltarlisks from getting a good hiding spot. As you move to the center of the camp, the templars form a defensive circle around you.

You close your eyes and try to sense them. What you sense is absolutely terrifying. You sense the sentience it has in place of compassion. The cunning it has in place of empathy. The hatred it has in place of mercy.

Behind that you sense the iron will of a thousand Zerg. The unified purpose to consume. To adapt. To overcome. To kill you. Something you can only describe as hunger.

Past the collective will of the Zerg you focus on a singular intellect. It is cunning beyond all tacticians. Brutal beyond all murderers. Efficient beyond all machines. It is the queen.

And she is coming for you.

>"They come!"

Several psi-blades light the ground as the Protoss take combat stances.

The first thing you sense is the fear. A lesser man would crumble into a heap almost immediately but your training lets you stand your ground, if unsteady and hesitant.

>"Stay calm! Use your psi-blades! We stand as one!"

Even the Protoss seem affected. They shuffle uneasily as the brush and trees rustle. Then, for a moment before the storm, there is absolute quiet. Absolute stillness.

They spring forward together as one, all twenty of them. You can sense the psionic energy they possess. It's all but overwhelming. They circle the protoss at obscene speeds, propelled by their powers. One, the largest of the bunch, his face scarred by Promethium burns, stands before you and Kassix. It stares at you intently. It knows you called it.

It wants you dead.

>"Go, Soaring Phoenix! Stay alive!"

Dark Templar fight a losing battle on all fronts. They are massively outnumbered.

They're winning.

You aim your gun at the beast and take some shots. It vanishes in a blink and it's right on top of you.

You can't stop them.

It raises it's claws to bring them down upon you. You bring back your cybernetic hand, the blade swings free.

You're all going to die here.

You bury your knife in the creature's throat. It begins to choke on it's own blood as Kassix quickly severs the head. You regain some composure despite yourself now that it's dead, but the Dark Templar lines have nearly collapsed. Only 3 of them still stand their ground.

Several of the Saltarlisks focus on you and begin to charge.

>1 Try to resist the fear.
>2 Give in to the rage.

>"I am the heart of darkness!"

You reach to the back of your head and withdraw the aggression inhibitor. You take a deep breath and focus all of your hatred.

You will still lose.

You line up your shot. You aim for their knees, and their arms. Entire extremities blown away with the pinpoint accuracy of the hand life has dealt you.

Death is not the worst thing we can do to you.

One of them rushes in close, knocking you back. The gun goes flying from your hand. You grab Echo's knife. Alpha's ascot dangles freely from the handle as you use it in one hand, your cybernetic in the other.

After you, we will kill Charlie. We will kill Sall. We will kill Henderson. We will kill Barney. We will kill all of them.

You find something liberating in each swing of the knife. Each maiming blow. You don't kill them. You don't want to kill them. You want to hurt them. And you want to go on, hurting them...

You can't save them. You're a failure.

You scream in incoherent rage. The battle at large doesn't concern you. The Saltarlisk does. Then the next one. And the next one. Severing tendons. Crushing bone. Rending muscle.

There is no hope for your kind.

You can't see out of one eye. The visor is absolutely caked in gore. You don't need to see. You need to hurt. You need to maim. You need to murder.

Seconds pass between your last target and the ending of the voices. you stand there, breathing heavily, caked in the blood of the 15-odd Saltarlisks you gutted with your blades. The other two templar occasionally slash in the background, a single roar might mark the end of one of the beasts.

You fall your knees and remove the helmet. It's too hard to breathe. You feel Kassix place a single hand on your shoulder.

Kassix's words perhaps alarm you more than they should. in the calm of the jungle. The birds sing again in the distance.

>"Did we get all of them?"
>"It is difficult to be sure. But I believe we have done all we can here."
>"What next?"
>"I must go. Judicator Euree has been stranded on the planet you know as 'New Ares' for far too long. I pray enough of our brethren survived to help us with the coming darkness. Return to your path, Raging Phoenix. Find peace in it. For soon we may have none left to us."

As suddenly as they appeared, the templars once again disappear. You take a few moments, before you begin the long walk back to your wraith.

They begin to catch up. You can hear them laughing. That gutteral chuckle they do. You know they're not smart enough to actually laugh, it's just an evolutionary response, but you can't help but feel mocked.

You trip, falling hard to the ground. You're immediately surrounded by the Zerg. Their insectile limbs drag you back against the rough ground. You kick and scream but it does nothing. The Daluke drops out of warp near the station 'Dick's paradise'. The drab gray planet below seems, as might be implied by the name, absolutely barren. You still read power and life support on the station, but no one is answering radio hails.
>>
>>26485236
You mean you haven't felt that, like 15+ threads ago?
>>
>>26485254
right, suit up and organise a team to investigate, get the XO, Charlie and the good doctors opinions on the situation

Have one of our wraith pilots circle around the facility cloaked looking for anything unusual around the body of the facility

No signals huh?
Let's ask the Doctor what we should expect from a device like this, surely she knows something right?

Er...or maybe Mac, if that's his thing?

>"XO, considering the possibility of changelings, I'm going on a solo mission."
>"Understandable, sir. I'll keep weapons and support ready if you need them."

You pilot the dropship yourself, eventually coming to the docking bays. While the station is apparently abandoned they are, fortunately, automated. You disembark and walk through the eerie halls of the small station until you eventually hear music.

>"And be a ssssiiimple~ Kind of maaaan.~"

You recognize it as a recording, but move towards it all the same.

>"Be something you love and understaaaaaand~"

The sound brings you to a cantina. One man sits behind the bar. Several emptied bottles of hard liquor are around the bar, one of them shattered against the wall. The man behind the counter responds simply.

>"We're closed."

You relax, having found a survivor for once. You sit at the bar.

>"Zerg bought all your good stuff, then?"
>"Not quite. Name's Dick. Welcome to my paradise."

He sets up another glass and pours the liquor into it.

>"You're not Dominion."

Although he states it matter-of-factly, he's obviously trying to determine why you're here.
>>
>>26485645
nope, but I am wondering why you're here all alone on a station that both the Dominion and Zerg have a great interest in

>"My name is Delta. I'm ex-Dominion. I try to help people, and I heard the Zerg attacked."

He pushes the drink towards you. You lift off your helmet, and take a drink. It tastes slightly off.

You wait for a few moments, before asking.

>"So why wait here?"

I wonder if the Saltarlisks were what the zerg learned from this place.

Well... we might as well see if the zerg left anything behind anyway.

As for this guy. "Would you like to make up for your sins in another way? I could use the help. The zerg have been building their forces for a long time."
>>
>>26485848
Well I have a way off the deathtrap if that interests you. You come and help out if you want or you could even come and assume direct control of our bar. I'm sure it won't have the same problem with wraith fuel, unless of course you have developed a taste for it.
>>
>"Do you want a way off this station?"
>"Not particularly. I'd just end up dead somewhere else. At least here I have booze."
>"Well... what about the Psi-wave induction matrix? Do you know what it does?"
>"It's what they used. Turns borderlines into class 5's or 6's. Even a couple 7's. Requires a heavy chemical cocktail on top of that but the stuff was all in the facility. I'll give you the Coordinates if you want to dig up that grave."

He grabs a pen and writes the location on a napkin, which he then holds out to you. You take it, slowly.

>"That doesn't explain who you are, or why you're here instead of in the Dominion, Dick."
>"We're in the fringes. Jack shit makes sense. I managed to talk an officer into being a 'freelance wrangler'. Fancy words for a sellout."

You radio the Daluke as you leave the bar.

>"XO, I have confirmed, one survivor, he's staying aboard. I'm moving to the surface to investigate the facility, over."
>"I read you, Delta."

The planet has no atmosphere, only the cold void of space. You land at the entrance to a cave. Hoping it's not some sort of trick, you move in. After several yards the cave becomes an installation. Plating is torn from the walls and automated defenses lie in ruins. The occasional body lays in the path, a grim signature of the Zerg attack. You follow the signs until you reach the Psi-wave's chamber. Large and circular, with a bottomless pit below the floor, possibly some form of cooling.

The machine itself, however, is missing. Torn from the chamber.

You continue to search the nearby information terminals. You're able to confirm that Terrazine, Jorium, the Matrix, and Serepene were all used to create the psychics. However, with the facility destroyed and the device stolen, all you can acquire are the schematics to build one.

You return to the Daluke. There's nothing left for you here.

You set a course for the Shipyard. As you jump in their size surprises you. Possibly even two kilometers long. You're surprised the Dominion had a shipyard this large out of their territory.
