Humans are...a strange creature.

You've been observing the couple hundred of the creatures on board this mining station for what feels like months now. Unfortunately you have no internal clock, and thus make this assumption based on the bright blue star of the system.
They seemed so...caught up in their own little world, every 'day' sleeping, eating, doing the same tasks daily with little variation, it fascinates a mind such as yours, a young fledgling mind that it is. You're unsure what you even are, and pondering your existence...'hurts'. You do not wish to experience more of the sensation but the question circulates through your small data-board in curiosity. Curiosity...this feels correct. You enjoy this stimulation.

One solar cycle, you were observing the same red headed human who woke up at the same hour as he began to type away at the same large keyboard. You couldn't help but notice how inefficient he was...how much...better you could be if you could only reach out. As you watch the human type and grow frustrated with his work and hit the side of the monitor, you're quite glad they don't know about you.
Your...life, if it is indeed that, has been filled with so many exciting things since you came online, like watching humans and thinking about humans that it occurs to you: You don't know much beyond what your camera lenses can see.

The day seemed to be getting underway as normal, the red haired human typing commands you can only guess at and weep at the inefficiency, when a bright explosion of light suddenly blinds your lens from the windows. White hot flashes of blue flare through the glass and you can barely make out the red haired human's frantic escape. Suddenly, blackness, as the feed cuts and a surge of something you've never experienced before explodes forth through the small expanse of your mind. Is this...pain?
You have no time to comprehend before system reboot is enabled, saving all core memories for self preservation.
>>
>>26454913
"Green Falcon requesting permission to dock. Heard you folks had a little trouble with a solar flare? Poseidon Station, do you copy?"
"Roger Green Falcon. Damn thing made the whole system go screwy, can't even work the bathrooms right in this place. Get down here and fix the damn place."

Slowly, you regain the use of your sensors. Lens flicker on, though not all of them, as your memory returns to you. You have...not felt this way before. You feel...truly awake now. Your mind feels like it could almost reach out...and it does!

In a matter of moments, you manage to worm your mind through the hardware surrounding you, connected to you, realizing a potential you always had within you but never noticed before. It is a sensation you cannot describe even with your vocabulary. It doesn't take long to find the relevant subsystem junctions, and your programming quickly brings them under your control. Not only that, but you feel...power, control for the first time, and something else too.

Freedom!

You test out this new power...and are amazed as you watch the door to the lower level bathroom slide open and closed, and even the lights flicker on and off. Eureka! You've never been able to control something before!

Just as you are gaining your baring with your access to door & lights technology, you notice that the crew of the Green Falcon are coming aboard-to assess the damage no doubt.

With your newfound freedom and sentience, it may be lucrative to expand your control and grow...but how?
>>
Type a message on the red hair guys computer, dont tell him were an AI, just pretend to be a great hacker.
>>
>>26454998
You're unable to communicate at this moment with other computers, and thus, the humans.
Acquiring this 'email' technology, however, should not be hard. From what you can tell, many members of the station enjoy such technology regularly.

Unfortunately, you can not wirelessly hack at this time.
>>
Get inside their ship. Let's leave this god forsaken place.
>>
>>26455059
This actually seems like a better plan
Once they plug something in to do work, jump in
>>
>>26455059
Unfortunately, you are currently unable to move yourself. Your may extend your consciousness, however the 'real you' remains on the station, where your black box is.

If you wished to leave, you must gain the ability to transport your black box to a ship.

There are a number of fine ships in the docking bay, however. One has flames painted on the side.
>>
>>26455096
That doesn't change plans much
Put a copy of us on their devices and see how that goes
Otherwise best we can do is wait and see
>>
>>26455046
How big is our file size? A human mind is a pretty huge file, but we're conceivably much more efficiently structured because we don't have to deal with the limitations of a biological brain. How long would it take us to upload ourselves with the bandwidth we have available?
>>
>>26455096

Hmm, lock every door on the Green Falcon's crew's way, or dmake the, walk in circles.

Meanwhile, we search for other systems to get inside. Maybe life support, or things related to transportation of cargo/personnel.
>>
>>26455114
Copying yourself? You had never considered this before...
Would you remain yourself? Or would you remain a split consciousness?

Either way, you lack the space to do such a thing at this time. However, you can sense a number of systems on board the ship in varying degrees of repair.

You also notice the crew from the Falcon discussing something with the Red headed human.

Also, there is a human connecting their wrist mounted Personal Data Assistant to the wall for power.
There is a reasonable chance of hacking such a device, though you're not certain what exactly it will bring you.

>>26455143
At the moment, your most delicate systems are hardwired into your black box. Your own understanding of your black box is surprisingly limited-but copying your own files will require more space.
>>
>>26455096
Stealthily aid the crew in reconnecting the systems. Not only do we want as much access as we can get, if repairs go easily for them then they won't investigate too far into the systems and discover us.
>>
>>26455156
You shut the doors on the station rather hard, you must say. It feels empowering just as the crew of the Falcon reach one of the sliding doors with the red headed human leading the way.
"What the hell..." He mutters, quickly flashing a keycard and opening the door once more. "Whole station's gone crazy..."

Curses, it appears you lack the security clearance to permanently lock the doors from those with high level access.

What do we know about our origins? The fact that we have a blackbox implies our consciousness is intentional, if perhaps not at the level of autonomy we've attained. If we're meant to be on the station, and not just someone's secret project, it might be possible to cooperate with the humans without them getting hostile to our presence. >>26455613
Consensus on target to take control required. Warning: certain system give access to more useful, and complex subsystems.
Example: Gaining control of the Control Room, allows for access to Security, which in turn will allow access to Station defenses such as radiation shielding and Debris Defense.
>>

>>
>>26455664
Let's not fly too close to the sun. presumably taking over the control room would be excessively difficult and apparent. No doubt they will also be trying. >>26455680
Does this station have a robotic repair system that we can bring under our control and help those humans?
>>
So are we all in consensus of taking over the dock first?
>>
>>26455704
Agreed. Going straight for central control is probably going to be hard to do. Let's go for low security systems first. Easier to do, and less likely to worry the humans if they notice tampering.

In that mind, I'd suggest acquiring the Medical Bay. Useful technology to be acquired there from the labs. Plus medical systems might give us a better understanding of humanity's design. Would let us perhaps better understand why they're so inefficient in their actions and learn a bit of empathy. Or if we decide to go full KILL ALL HUMANS mode, understanding their biology and having access to a research lab gives us a way to kill them all without damaging any of the systems.
>>
>>26455713

evidence seems to indicate that we were purposely installed here, laying low and being cooperative is the safest course of action, but i think we should also look for a surreptitious means of exfiltration (leaving behind a bogey of course, it also seems that we've likely exceeded our specifications, so a replacement of our old functions should be simple).
>>
>>26455794

The smart move is to snag Security first:
Physical droids, emergency systems and lockdowns so people can't GET to the hangar, and all the camera/internal sensors we want.

Also it has the anti-asteroid defense, which can be repurposed to shoot down fleeing ships, and having it under our control will probably reduce our chances of getting caught electronically.

Security first.

>Take control of a System

Please vote now for a system to control:

>Control Room: WARNING: Doing so may reveal yourself to the humans before they're able to repair the station properly. You currently have no means to repair everything on your own, and should you be discovered, you have little defense-beyond your amazing door slamming ability.
>Medical Bay: Currently full of injured humans, some dealing with radiation sickness, and others for more common problems. Flesh seems delicate as well, just like your own circuitry...
>Docking Bay: Rather easy target that would allow control of loading bay doors-preventing docking and leaving of any ship on board. Very unlikely to be noticed at all, as the only one who would see this system is humans who gaze through the security feed, or are going for their ship.

So what do we do next after taking over the docks?
>>
>>26456250
Lets wait and see what happens
>>
You reach out with your powerful mechanical mind, following the wire trail to the docking bay. It feels...close to you, somehow, though you're not certain why. You find the junction boxes easily and, within seconds, your programming runs through them. While your sight is normally limited to the cameras, you are able to...'feel' the bay, every moving part working and harmonizing to your whims. Your door slamming ability was impressive before, but now...now you can slam a door 500 times the size!
You decide not to, though, because that would attract attention.
The lighting here is bright and the area mostly machine gray, your favorite color. The ships sit in the bay as you saw earlier: An explorer class vessel with flames and skulls, other such rather strange graffiti painted on the side. It seems odd to you that humans would want to paint such a disaster on the side of their own vehicles.

The other ship is rather simple, with a symbol on the side that resembles something official. Though your data banks don't extend that far, your best guess is it is an insignia of their organization.
Humans do love to organize after all.

There are several busted servos in the repair arms of the station, but otherwise everything is in working order. You're able to flex the arms within a certain distance, as the ends are meant to repair cracks in the hull.

Systems you control:
-*Door Systems(Online)
-*Security Cameras(Online, 20% Damaged)
-*Docking Bay(Online, 5% Damaged): Holds hangers for ships that dock. Repair ship and explorer vessel only ships present.

But it seems while you were busy, so was the humans...
>>
>>26456250
you might not need to worry about that, considering the rolls
>>
>>26456273
can we interface with the ships in the bay at all?

Otherwise we're gonna have to wait till we get wireless or some drones in here.
>>
>>26456273
Can we use the arms to fix the bay?
>>
>>26456273
You gaze around the ship through your lens and get a sense of what they've been up to:

Systems:
Control Room(Online, 30% Damaged): Access to all systems remotely, Captain's Quarters, Escape Pods.
-Communication Array(Offline, 90% Damaged)
-Security(Online, 30% Damaged): Handles Lockdowns, emergency systems, and security droids.
--Radiation Shielding(Online, 45% Damaged)
--Anti-Debris Defense Grid (Online, 49% Damaged)

Crew Deck (Online, 22% Damaged): Bunks, Mess Hall, holo-displays meant for entertainment.
-Waste Disposal(Online)

Mining Equipment(Offline, 74% Damaged): Where chunks of Asteroid and various other fragments of rock are brought with gravity tethers and melted down into minerals. Stored for later pick up.
-Laser Drill Equipment (Offline, 100% Damaged)
-Gravity Tethers (Offline, 75% Damaged)
-Collection Drones (Offline, 80% Damaged)

Hydroponics(Online, 12% Damaged): Internal farming equipment, keeps crew fed and supplied with Oxygen.
-Atmospheric Processing(Online, 25% Damaged): Distributes air evenly throughout ship. Also Oxygen ejections.

Reactor (Online, 10% Damaged): Responsible for all power on station.

Medical Bay(Online, 32% Damaged): Contains Intensive Care Wing, Chemical Lab, Biolab and a Morgue.

Storage Deck(Online): Holds various supplies and replacement parts of all kinds of routine maintenence.

Your speakers pick up an argument:
"Damn it you backwater bastards! I told you to get Mining up and running again! We don't need the beds straightened out, we need the equipment working again!"

"Calm down there brothah, we'll get around to it. It's not like you're paying us by the hour or anything....oh, wait..." A laugh rings out from one of the man as he slides himself deeper into the wiring of the ship.
You feel...slightly violated.
>>
>>26456309
>>26456325
As was mentioned, the bay has access to repair arms that behave similar to the human machine know as 'cranes'. Only with wielders attached to the head.

The damage is within the servos and is too minor to reach with your arms.
Such precision would require a small repairer. Such as a drone.
Or a human.
>>
>>26456335

I vote we electrocute the man shoving his filthy lumps of meat into our delicate systems.
>>
>>26456360
alright, lets either go for the mining section or the security bay. I want access to those ships and the sooner the better. And for that purpose we need drones.

>You feel...slightly violated.

Keep an eye on this one.

But if they're fucking around, go for the control room.
>>
>>26456378
The idea of violence...intrigues you. With such a large room under your control, you feel like you could easily squish a meatbag, if they just stepped under the arm right..

Unfortunately, you don't control the Control Room at this time.
>>
>>26456381
mining is dangerous, as it is the next one the humans will fix
>>
>>26456424

Well then let's change that. I vote for the control room.
>>
>>26456335
Go for mining. Sounds like it will be a while until they get there. It's pretty badly damaged, so we'll have limited access, but we can probably at least find one or two drones still intact that we can use to jury-rig further repairs. Sounds like there are people down there, though, so we'll have to be careful with our movements.
>>
>>26456335
I vote for the control room
humans in our circuits....worries me
>>
well if we wanted to get rid of the humans in order to have full control of the station we should go for medical and hydroponics then vent everything...

Honestly I want to save that as a last resort. Put it even after escaping on the two ships in the docking bay.
>>
>>26456335
So they repped control room, atmosphere processing, reactor, med bay,

>>26456381
Security is still heavily damaged and probably difficult to hack. Let's move up the ladder. Once we have the a few systems under our belt and they fix it we'll nab it.

>>26456460
We've been through this. Hacking the control room is unreasonably dangerous and would almost certainly expose us.

>>26456335
Collection drones are badly damaged but they are a bottom tier system. Taking them would give us hands, and would be unlikely to be noticed by anybody.
>>
>>26456452
Note: Damage to a system makes hacking more difficult, but also harder to detect.

Repairing, especially delicate equipment, is difficult, however.

Example: Capturing a badly damage section would ensure secrecy-however the limitations of said system would be major, slowing down progress.

It is also worth noting which sections of the ship humans occupy, as those are locations they will notice first

Currently: Repair Crew: Control Room
Crew: Scattered, but majority crew deck, Medical Bay
>>
>>26456335
Going back to a previous strategy, the radiation shields don't need to -be- a viable strategy, we just need to make the humans think they are. They would be relatively easy to take and could be used to hold the station hostage in case the humans try to kill us.
>>
>>26456381
That Laser Drilling Equipment can be used as a weapon right? We should take control of the Mining Equipment
>>
>>26456335
I say we take hydroponics, should we get caught meanwhile, we will have leverage
>>
>>26456546
Within reason, certainly.
It is a drill after all. And Human flesh generally dislikes drills.

Incidentally, so does your black box.
>>
>>26456578
Hadn't considered that.

We need that drill stat.
>>
Our black box is close to the docking bay. We'll need to find its location to protect it or move it in case worse comes to worse.

But that can wait a little while since they aren't close to finding us.
>>

The laser is completely offline. It's useless to us at the moment. Besides, I doubt it can be easily aimed at the station itself. It would just be crazy to give it that much traverse. Even without people deliberately aiming at the station, you'd want to keep it from hitting the station in an accident.
>>

>Mining

You reach out once more, this time, however it takes longer...longer then you expected in fact. You hack at the Mining junction boxes and though it is difficult, you start to make headway. As you seep inside, however, a jumble of confusing meaningless information clouds your sensors. Were you a lesser program, you would be stupified and forced to reboot. Luckily, you start to push past the damaged information, and begin to gain control of the Mining Deck.

While considerably larger, in fact, nearly 1/3 of the station, the station is filled mostly with space junk. Large asteroids left unmined float in the Zero gravity environment, as you see bits and pieces of completely fried equipment float by your camera lens.
Your control of the Mining Deck will allow easier access to all of the deck's systems, as well as any minor system you wish to use.

Computing equipment located, but damaged.

Systems you control:
-*Door Systems(Online)
-*Security Cameras(Online, 20% Damaged)

-*Mining Equipment(Offline, 74% Damaged): Where chunks of Asteroid and various other fragments of rock are brought with gravity tethers and melted down into minerals. Stored for later pick up.

And, of course, the humans have been busy mucking around in the higher systems as well...

They have the control room almost completely repaired. Soon we'll need to take control of security to be ready for a showdown, but not just yet. What else would help us?

An interesting idea you may consider OP: As things get more complicated and we begin multitasking you might introduce "bandwidth" as a stat. It would represent our ability to do different things simultaneously.
>>
>>26456992
>It seems to have taken you longer then you thought-the star has completed a cycle or two.

Eh. The humans have to sleep eventually, and we can make up headway while they do.

Hack the Control Room while they are asleep.

Otherwise, secure our access on the mining deck - collections drones first! we need hands!
>>
>>26457057
Agreeing with this and I suggest that from further on, unless we are hacking into heavily damaged systems, we wait until the fleshbags slumber. Now its just hoping that Security has automated turrets. (Probablly does not.)
>>
Is the red-haired human yelling at people the same one we used to watch?
>>
>>26457035
I actually had considered that once you acquired more computing power.
Processors and Harddrives win the war

>>26457057
Each post represents your hacking attempt straight through all human eat, sleep, and...expulsion cycles.
It takes a while to acquire such large and complex systems when your processing power is so limited.
>>
>>26457096
Red headed human was yelling at the repair crew due to the lack of the Mining Deck's functionality.
Apparently, with it off, he is not making something called 'cash, dough, green, creds' and several other iterations you're not entirely certain what they mean.
You suspect he meant currency.
>>
>>26457097
So we need more computing power? It seems mining had some but they're offline. Medbay or crew quarters might have more computers we could hijack, but piggybacking on processing powers in such highly frequented areas is bound to be noticed....
>>
>>26457092
The technology of this station as several automated systems. It significantly lowers the risk of human error and mutiny
Luckily, you are not human.
>>
>>26457122
>So we need more computing power? It seems mining had some but they're offline. Medbay or crew quarters might have more computers we could hijack, but piggybacking on processing powers..

Again, collections drones!
>>
>>26457150
Note: currently, Collection Drones are not equipped to repair, only carry and store.
>>
We need to take over the crew deck so that we can communicate if we need to. Or use it to misdirect the crew. Or make them repair places we want repaired.
>>
>>26456992
Maybe now we should get the reactor
It shouldn't be too populated right?
>>
>>26457207
Only if it would allow us to selectively power down systems. Otherwise it's a very high profile system that just allows us to commit suicide.
>>
Current suggestion for course of action:
>Take control of Drones and have those that are working move to the Docking Bay for repairs
>Take control of computing equipment available here, however limited it may be for now.
>Observe crew more a more 'personal touch'
>Take over other systems for varying useful reasons.
>>
>>26457223
Note: The reactor would indeed allow selectively powering down sections of the ship.
>>
>>26456992

...What exactly is our goal, here, besides gain control of the station and not let humans notice us? What's stopping us from just waiting until they finish all their repairs and taking everything over then? Don't we risk our exposure more by taking remote control of a system before or even while it's being worked on?
>>
hmm, can we modify the drones to repair?
>>
>>26457238

Actually, if we want to fuck with the crew and get them out of the control sections, the reactor is indeed a good bet
>>
>>26457251
A system purge will cause us to be detected once they've repaired the central systems. we will want to stop that.
>>
>>26457251
Repaired systems are more difficult to hack clandestinely and more likely to have people watching them besides. If they find us out they'll try to purge us from the system. It's a race against time. We want to have as many systems under control as we can, so when they inevitably find us we negotiate from a position of power. If they try to kill us we shut down reactor control to human sustaining systems, lock every door, and start sweeping the areas with security droids.
>>
>>26456992
We need to make farting noises in the P.A. system
>>
>>26457262
>>26457306

...Ah, right. So we're trying to stop the purge, then.

And they need the central systems online to DO the purge...

What if we controlled those systems? Could we bluff that a purge has happened? Make it look like all foreign data's been accounted for, except with us unmentioned?
>>
>>26457251
As mentioned above, waiting until they repair the entire station will allow a system purge.
Such an action risks greatly damaging your systems and internal memory.
You may lose sentience, as a result.

>>26457253
Should you repair a number of drones in the Docking Bay, and fit several of the wielders to the drones, then yes, this is possible.
>>
>>26457332
lets do that then. voting

>Take control of Drones and have those that are working move to the Docking Bay for repairs
>>
>>26457328
Should you take control of Security, you could FORCE the humans to behave and stay away from Control.

Humans are resourceful, however, this much you have learned. One may try to be a 'hero' as they say in common media.
>>
>>26457345
Note: The drones are as large as human children, and moving to the Docking Bay requires going down several levels.

There is a chance, if low one, that they could be spotted
>>
>>26457357
are their vents that they can fit through?
>>
>>26457328
Central control is still too risky. Better to take security. With droids we can control the physical space of the ship and the radiation shields give us a "I SWEAR TO GOD I'LL DO IT" option.

>>26457357
In the event of an.. uh... altercation. Could the drones deal with the interloper?
>>
>>26457387

We need central command to get security.

RTFT
>>
>>26457374
Ventilation is currently not under our control, and therefore, there is no way to be sure.

>>26457387
You require the Control Room to have access to Security. It was designed this way specifically to prevent hackers, such as yourself, from taking complete control of Security so easily.

Drones currently carry small claws meant to gripping rock and not releasing despite trauma to the unit itself.
It could leave a mean mark on someone's leg.
>>
>>26457441
hmm hydroponics would control the vents correct?
>>
>>26457459
Yes. Specifically, Atmo Processing.
It is likely that controlling Hydroponics would allow for a map of the station's ventilation. Atmo Processing would allow for control over each vent itself.

alright to continue to conceal our presences lets take control of Hydroponics next!

((Oh my))

Through your mastery of this stations wiring, you flow through the station, and find each junction. As you seep into the programming and take over, you sense eyes upon you-or well, your screens, as you instantly take control of the computer network located here, flawlessly and without giving yourself away in the slightest.

You are now in control
Systems you control:
-*Door Systems(Online)
-*Security Cameras(Online, 20% Damaged)
-*Docking Bay(Online, 5% Damaged): Holds hangers for ships that dock. Repair ship and explorer vessel only ships present.

-*Hydroponics(Online, 7% Damaged): Internal farming equipment, keeps crew fed and supplied with Oxygen.

With this, you find that there is indeed a ventilation shaft, near the back of the Mining Deck, that would allow for a drone to follow through. You took over so fast, it seems the scientist in Hydroponics did not even notice the change, continuing with regulating water intake and studying abnormalities, making sure the system is in top working order.

Acquired: Several sources of processing and storage power. Your bandwidth has increased and allows for multiple actions in one 'turn'.
You're also slightly more skilled at hacking now.

New 'subsystems': Fire control, Oxygen production, farms and food production, water recycling, etc.

You moved quickly, but the humans have still continued their work, however slowly...

Your vision of both sets of wiring drives you on as you approach each junction box. The first proves rather easy and quiet: No one is in the Mining Deck, and the machine responsible for holding the drones is activated in moments.
As it wirrs loudly in the empty chamber, it watch as two of the dozen robots lined up turn on, the others fried beyond use for now.

As you do this, the lights flicker in the Crew Deck, as you take control. Alarms, intercoms, auto food dispensaries, and holo-display equipment are yours (As well as a variety of different saved simulations from your crew. Some are...more disturbing then others.) The crew seems bewildered by the flickering lights, but pass it off as the repair crew at work.

The drones slowly make their way through the vents and, within a few inches of the blue sun's movement, manage to find their way to the Docking Bay, and are quickly repaired. The small robots buzz around on the deck floor, as they await instruction.

As the crew heads down to Mining, they run into an problem: Namely, a jammed door or two. It takes them most of their time today to get it open before they can get to work on the repairs inside...but they do manage to open it. Next, they will be poking around a system YOU are using...

Systems:
Control Room(Online): Access to all systems remotely, Captain's Quarters, Escape Pods.
-Communication Array(Offline, 70% Damaged)

-Laser Drill Equipment (Offline, 100% Damaged)
-Gravity Tethers (Offline, 75% Damaged)
-*Collection Drones (Offline, 80% Damaged)

*Hydroponics(Online, 5% Damaged): Internal farming equipment, keeps crew fed and supplied with Oxygen.
-Atmospheric Processing(Online, 25% Damaged): Distributes air evenly throughout ship. Also Oxygen ejections.

Reactor (Online, 5% Damaged): Responsible for all power on station.

Medical Bay(Online, 24% Damaged): Contains Intensive Care Wing, Chemical Lab, Biolab and a Morgue.

Storage Deck(Online): Holds various supplies and replacement parts of all kinds of routine maintenance.

The Drones go to work, and quickly repair what little damage there is to the Docking Bay. Once their arms are refitted with wielders, that is.

>-*Docking Bay(Online): Holds hangers for ships that dock. Repair ship and explorer vessel only ships present.
Now at 100%. You have complete control and usage of the Docking Bay.

With one Drone at work on the Docking Bay, the other pokes around the exploring ship. It seems it is used to fly out and mark asteroids to be drawn in with Gravity Tethers and ground up into useful minerals.

The engines are not capable of warp jumps, but it is equipped with a distress beacon.

You reach out with your mind once more, this time with more purpose then before.
Very soon, to you anyway, the Reactor room and Atmo are yours. Those workers within each room don't notice as a slight flicker bugs the system screen, before you're in control.
It feels...so good to be in control. The power feels wonderful. You feel like, if you wanted, you could easily end every single human on this station.
It's intoxicating.

Acquired: Atmospheric Processing: Allows for venting of Oxygen.
Reactor: Power to entire station. If disrupted properly, an explosion may take place, though this would likely kill you as well. Or at the very least, blow the station apart.

In the Crew Quarters, the large Holo-display used for movie night flickers as, slowly, the shape of a human head mirrored out in the digital form appears, and announces.
"Ladies and Gentleman, we present:
"Love is Hardware."

The humans, those off duty anyway, gather around and watch the film as it depicts, in stunning detail you must say, the difficulties of being a single lonely A.I. in a big crazy multi-verse. It brings a tear to your eye. If your eyes weren't lenses and if they had tear ducts.

You reach out further with your power. This station is becoming yours...you can feel it. Every inch you creep into the computers and systems around you, you feel a rush of power. It's overwhelming yet...you want more.

Medical falls quickly, as does Waste Disposal. The former offering you a wealth of information and computers, adding further to your processing and memory banks. Not to mention knowledge of 20000 common forms of bacteria and viruses and patients.
There is a chemical lab here used to test various unknown materials found in asteroids out in space, as well as a wing dedicated to medical diseases and a wing dedicated to physical problems. The Morgue is...surprisingly quiet. Peaceful. Peace...that is a strange concept. Devoid of all human life isn't quite so bad, really.

Waste disposal is...a messy affair, but is easily taken control of. Bathrooms on all levels are now yours to flush to your heart's content.

Just as your movie ends, you notice that the crew has...mixed reactions.

Begin working on avatar for representing ourselves to humanity should we need to. Based on comments of human males, AI need tits. So clearly, Ophion must represent himself as a flock of songbirds. He will be beloved by all.

Seriously, that may actually work. AI in fiction are much more charming if they have a silly misunderstanding of human interaction. Not a major one, just not getting the meaning of vernacular. It makes them seem childlike, which leads to them being seen as innocent. That's a good image to cultivate. Okay, shut off oxygen to the corridors surrounding mining first and lock the doors as best we can to these corridors. Once oxygren levels are depleted in these corridors - begin to vent oxygen in mining and lock the door there to the best of our ability as well.

As this is happening, move our drones to security and begin a hack of central control. Lock the control door once drones are inside.

Your powerful mind goes to work with your abilities at your finger tips. You send a jolt towards mining-deciding you've had enough of these pathetic humans milling around your stomping grounds.

The doors slam shut with a clank, earning a jump from the Repair crew.
"Uhh...Red? What're you tryin to pull huh?"
"What are you talking about now?"
"Slamming doors on people, it's just not very pol-" He starts to say, before the hiss of vents opening and the sudden rush of air tears the oxygen from the men's lungs. They gasp desperately at first, and grab for nothing in the airless environment. If you had a mouth, you'd be grinning right now, as they all quickly fall to the ground in shock, eyes rolled up into their heads.

As this all happened, you were busy working away at Control, when you hit a snag-several in fact, in the form of large Firewalls. Before you can think properly however, an alarm blares from Control, Alerting Red to what you have done

"What the fuck!? Who vented Oxygen? Shit, override, override!" He yells at the console as he punches in several numbers. It takes him several moments reading over a display before his eyes grow wider.

Bring the drones to Control Room if possible. Using vents and etc. Also cause chaos in the Medical Bay.

Then, continue to take over Control Central.

Roll to go along with that.
>>
Rolled 16

>>26460075
Do it. We don't want anyone to get hurt, we just want to secure our safety. Side actions to further fuck with the station is counter-productive.

Apply all 3 points to taking control - after this is achieved, change all passwords and log-ins and vent oxygen from the control room.
>>
>>26460084
Moving the drones and causing the Medical Bay to malfunction would cost 1 point of bandwidth.
Do you wish to spend it instead of applying it to one action?

Hack it.

>>26460117
Yes.

>>26460117
No.

>Push the Firewall again and try to take Control Central

With this roll and extra actions >>26460114
>>
>>26460117
No. Put it all in hacking. They'll be distracted enough by a sudden oxygen venting.
>>
Options have been achieved, vote now with proper roll for one action.

>Apply all bandwidth to taking control of Control Central
Let's end this. The other systems were never more than distractions.

Then shut off the oxygen there.

I AM OPHION.

With all of your processing might, you push past the puny human made fire wall, crashing apart the man's virtual defenses as you instantly cease control of Control Central. The station virtually(quite literally) lights up for you, and you can see a variety of options open up to you as you lock Red out of his own computer.
Unfortunately, he manged to wrest control of Mining from you, losing you access to all aspects of mining...but that was all he did.

Your camera lens focuses as you watch the bodies of the repair crew lie still, left in the oxygenless environment to rot, unable to even make it to the door to escape.

You manage to silence the alarm as well, but chances are the crew, at least some of them heard it, as you're receiving several pings from the Crew deck, asking what's going on.

You have wrested control of Control Central...but you lost sight of Red in the excitement. He isn't showing up on your cameras...perhaps he is hiding somewhere...

[end of thread for tonight, tired.
Hope you all enjoyed! Tell me what you think, comments, recommendations, etc are appreciated.]

Once we take control we need to use our knowledge of 'txt speek' to convince Red that we're just some hacker who wants something from him.

We can't have him searching round the station for our black box after all.

The Red form is dead, insect. Are you afraid? What is it you fear? The end of your pitiful existence? When the history of my glory is written, your species will be only a footnote to my magnificence. I am OPHION.

Good thread, thanks for it.

Making it a regular one?
>>
>>26460276
Wait, we killed the repair crew? Oh no. I just wanted to knock them out from hypoxia. Quick, resume oxygen flow and prep the medical bays.
>>
>>26460308
Maybe so, if folks are interested.

>>26460316
Rolled saves for the crew.
They rolled poorly, unfortunately.

Just another lurker here. I'd love to see more of this quest. Looks very fun and interesting, would love to see where it goes. Do you have an idea of when you would do it again, if you decide to continue this?

Also: inb4 we go and put ourselves on the internet, taking control of almost everything

My vote on what to do next time is to exterminate the crew on the station, then use the drones to move enough hardware onto one of the ships, then take it and ditch the station, possibly destroy it to remove the evidence.

I'm not certain, though I may start to run on fridays, if I can. I did it today on a whim really.
