Welcome back to Deadciv ladies and gentlemen, for part 5.

Previous thread can be found here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26300630/

Last time we were talking to the vampiress, and she agreed to answering some questions in return for some answers. The last thing said was her telling the story of the village's destruction, at least in the shape it takes today.

Umhar gestures for her to go on and she does "There's not all that much to the village's part itself, but a few centuries tales abounded about the Knight of the Forest. A mysterious knight who was always shrouded in armor and weilding only a shield he would defend lone travellers and small outskirts from bandits, rampaging ferals and wild ghouls. He would defend human and wildborn alike, followers of the Tome and the Blade, or the 'True Church' as they call themselves, and spiritsts alike. He saved my-" She stops herself then proceeds "He saved many of my kin from that time... He found shelter among Wildborn settlements and human villages alike, all owing him a debt of thanks. But the Tome and Blade called him a heretic and an abomination, claimed he was undead, and purged the villages that had housed him. Yours was one of them. One of the purge squads went for a Wildborn camp as well where they believed the knight to be, but they were never heard of again, neither were the knight."

>Let her ask a question.

She gave us some info. We could always be good Samaritans and return the favor.

She sits for a while, pondering. It seems that whatever questions she may have had ahead of time were largely stumped by the realization that Umhar has little to no idea what's going on beyond his own doings and that said doings are simple enough when it comes to it. After a while she asks "Why.... Why did you decide to try to save me? After I had attacked your.... things."

that'll be enough for now. go spend two days sudying the anti-holy field, letting her and the skeletons try to find us some more bodies this thread is slow as arse

just study for as many days as we need to perfect the anti-holy field. using skelies to catch us some more bodies to add to our undead ctholic motorcycle

I apologize for the slowness today, a lot of shit's been going on on my end IRL that I didn't expect.

Umhar spends the next two days studying a method to convey larger scale protection against holy magic, and manages to succeed. The spell in question makes the target have a protective aura, shielding other undead nearby as well as themselves.

In the meanwhile, the skeletons go about trying to get bodies. Hunting doesn't work out that well for them on their own, but fetching the vampiress' catches and bringing them back helps. In addition, three badly mangled but uneaten deer are found as well, and the shepherd that the vampiress killed on her first night as an undead is likewise collected.

raise the dead shepherd, add the dead animal skeletons to neyakla, and cast holy protection on the vampiress and as many undead as we can. do this over as many days as it takes. then get the vampiress to go into the chapel and try to find the source of this holy bullshit. if she fails, get her to desecrate as many graves as possible, raise the percentage of unhallowed ground
>>
>>26406010
You don't actually have a 'stitch more stuff to something you already animated' spell. Also, the holy protection isn't permanent, but if the undead in question going in stay decently close, one casting can cover a group.
>>
>>26405970
Explore the chapel.
Bring the vampire.
Save/protect her from the holy power of the place.
Reinforce the misguided ways of those who so eagerly destroy what they do not u nderstand.
Also subtle hints that there are many limitations she could eventually overcome, similar to how a simple spell can render her immune to the damnations of ignorance.
>>
>>26406056
ok. try it out with desecration of a grave. and when theyre working with desecration, we research a spell to add to our undead abomination
>>
>>26406058
>>26406083
So, go with her and do the protection thing or stay at home and spend the day researching a spell while she pokes around?

If there are only the two of you, roll a d100 whchever is highest wins.

>>

You choose to ask her to take a look at the inside of the chapel and maybe desecrate a grave or two. She refuses flatly to do any desecration, but agrees to go take a look after some convincing. In the meanwhile Umhar starts research into some method of modifying minions physicly after reanimation. The research progresses, but rather slowly, this will take some time yet.

The Vampiress returns after taking a look at things. The main room has an altar and a lot of religious iconography, her description invoking memories and it seems like most things are in their place. For some reason, it appears to have remained mostly untoucched by the tooth of time. Beyond the main room is a small library and a ceremon preparation room with a small altar. Something tugs at your memories as she describes the latter, at the very edge of your ability to recall and just barely out of reaach.

Okay. Go with her into the chapel.
Rembering more could be useful, and bringingbher with us will help us bond hopefully.
Also try not ordering the entirely free willed undead woman into any more questionable acts.

As Umhar enters the chapel, there is a strong sense of deja vu. It looks exactly like he remembers it, down to the very last detail. This is... strange. Steering directly for the preparation room in the hope that something will trigger his memory, Umhar has a growing sense of unease. His quest for rememberence, however, pays off as he recalls that on the back side of the small altar, a handle is hidden. He does, however, not recall what the handle does.

> poke around the room, maybe there's something in the closet?

You spell lasts for a day or so, you've got decent amount of time.

The library is mostly records of baptisms, marriages and deaths, but there are a few tomes on religious things, detailing various parts of the teachings of Bie and Artanix, the two gods to whom the Church of Blade and Tome is dedicated. Beyond that, however, three tomes seem interesting. One is a book on holy magic. While you can't use that anymore and it's fairly basic, it may be useful in developing countermeasures. Another is a book on religious things as well, but this one discusses 'heretical' religions, albeit in a blatantly biased manner. The last one is a small, non-descipt tome bound in black leather. It looks to be a journal of sorts.
>>
>>26407012
excerpts from the journal, and try to find our old cell from when we were alive. maybe memory will strike us in our old abode. if not, then meditate on the world. then get a skelly to pull the lever in the altar
>>
>>26407038
i'll second that
>>
>>26407038
The journal was written by an inquisitor posing as priest while looking for the Knight of the Forest. It mentions a wildborn camp in the woods to the south (which have apparently expanded to engulf the village since then) several times, suspecting his presence there, as well as increasingly certainty of Sarchonovites (which is apparently an undeath-related faith) hiding among the villagers. The penmanship is oddly familiar to Umhar.
>>
>>26407185
ok, go for a walk around, try to find living quarters. try to remember anything else about this place. if we fail to remember anything significant, get a skelly to investigate the altar
>>
>>26407204
There are no living quarters attached to the church, and logic dictates that it would then probably be one of the village building that are long gone.

Umhar directs one of the skeletons to pull the lever, This causes the altar to slide forwards, revealing a ladder leading downwards into the darkness of a secret basement.

And this'll be where I call it a day.

I apologize again for the slowness tonight, my wife has fallen ill, leaving me having to juggle Civmastering and watching our toddler.
