An old healer from Kaalun has returned with the others, offering to help mend the female Roc's leg. However, he'll probably be asking for something in return at some point.
~
A little bit of research has gone into Rozooll's new slime. It seems to have a variable amount of uses.

Seems a bit zergy. This better not be a creep expy
>>
Curios ones research uses, and prepare an expedition to Eastcave!
>>
NOTE: I've added a 'Special Items' section. This is where decidedly non-mundane items will be listed, that way they can be distinguished from the other supplies.

>>26380632

I can definitely see the similarities, but I've specifically engineered it to be less...organic/hive-mindy.
>>
>>26380622
Okay guys we have practically ignored the princess lets make it a passive action where the queen and the princess spend time together.

Passive Harvest yields 10.3 Units of food
~
The Curious Ones further investigate what they can of Rozooll's slime. It takes a bit of time, but exposure to air eventually hardens it into a durable resin. This could be applied to a multitude of uses, such as construction, reinforcement, road making, and temporary patchwork. Further uses may be discovered.
~
Mazooll has been somewhat neglected since she was born, so Rozooll decides to take this time to learn about her child and successor. The two spend hours with each other, Rozooll teaching her about the duties, benefits, and responsibilities of leadership. Mazooll listens attentively and when asked to demonstrate her authority on some errant Workers, she gleefully accepted, happy to exercise her sway over them.
Mazooll is very happy to have spent time with Rozooll.
~
The healer from Kaalun, an older fellow by the name of Gellen, is still working to mend the Roc's leg. So far the bird has complied, but the fickle nature of the bird towards outsiders has slowed the process a bit.

send 9 warriors, 5 scavengers, 3 nomads, 3 curious ones, 3 tunnelers, 9 workers and 2 Harbingers to East cave and ask the princess if she wants to go.

Use clairvoyance on the path to East cave and East cave itself just in case anything has happened.
>>
>>26381302
Actually make my second suggestion to lay eggs with some worship.(if we can)
>>
>>26381473
We'll have to dedicate both Actions to Egg Laying and Worship, then.

There's always SOME worship going on, but if you want an effect from it, you actually have to commit an action to it.

D) Keep researching uses for the slime
G) Egg Laying

We don't know what it is exactly. It might not be hostile but we are just preparing for the worst case scenario where its an enemy. Also whenever we lay eggs its best to worship as well that way we get an increase in egg count. Its usually around 3-4 eggs but that still more units.

A section of the farm is starting to look a bit dilapidated. It will probably need re-cultivation soon or harvest will start to suffer...

Gellen reports that around 2 more weeks and the female roc should be 'right as rain'. He does mention something about 'payment' though.

The Hive gathers in the hatchery to worship their Queen. They clitter, clack, chitter, and (in the case of the humans) chant praises. Their worship bolsters Rozooll's strength.

~
Deciding that Mazooll is mature enough to leave the Hive and ready to lead her subjects, she is offered the opportunity to accompany the dispatch to Eastcave. She eagerly accepts, ready to prove her power and relishing the opportunity to exercise her sovereignty.
The risks are obvious, but the troops would undoubtedly have heightened morale from the presence of royalty.
~
The female roc should be healed in 1 turn. Gellen is getting antsy about his lack of compensation...

The Roc and the other Rozoolliim have returned! Unfortunately, a few Crawlers didn't survive the trip, but the others return safely, with a half-dozen eggs! They're quickly placed in the roost above the Spire. The female's foot is in considerably bad shape, though...

Nope that is from the past thread.

We shouldn't wait too long to send the expedition, we should just get them out the door as quickly as possible. We can wait a turn to begin work on the tunnels.

Gellen is offered a payment of food and shiny bars. He's...less than thrilled that it isn't any sort of coinage. He's willing to take the food, but he asks if there's any coin he could have.
However this will be resolved when we come back.
~
Mazooll chitters excitedly at the opportunity given to her. She hurriedly prepares to leave with the rest of the group.
Before she departs, you may choose to equip her with any of the weapons you have in store. She's observed the Warriors' sparring enough to have a decent grasp of their use.

You may choose:

She refuses to use spears or daggers.

The Princess finds that the Glaive is her favorite weapon, for its favorable range and deadly slash.
Mazooll and the rest of her squad depart Greenhome, heading east, towards the strange, sunken structure...
(For the time being, we will leave focus of the Hive, returning when/if it's urgent.)
After several days, Mazooll and her underlings reach the entrance of Eastcave. The great maw of an opening stands unguarded, with no doors left to bar passengers from entering. Unfortunately, none of the original dispatch team is still alive, so all there is to go off of is what they reported back the first time...
The sun is starting to swing low in the sky. You could strike camp outside of the entrance for now or march into the structure.

>>
>>26383843
Lets make camp for now

Always have a base camp before we explore a cave

Besides if anything dangerous pops out of the cave we'll have the advantage on them and we can tactically asses the threat later on
>>
>>26383843
A) Strike camp outside the cave.

It is much harder for any force to attack a camp. It involves much more strategy to successfully attack one, and the only direction they can come from is the cave entrance which will act as a bottleneck keeping any forces that would attack from swarming us with numbers and force them into a small space limiting their attacks because they would be packed too tightly.
>>

A) Strike a camp
>>
>>26383843

>>
>>26383913
I figure that if we do that while the goo is still wet would make the armor misshapen and non consistent with some weird portioning if we move around with it when it's wet especially when we roll around on the floor

But what we can do is have the workers gather fine and I mean very fine sand and when the goo is on the bug still wet the workers can sprinkle on some of that sand all over the goo allowing better camouflage
>>
>>26383933
I'm pretty sure that you know I mean outside the tunnel entrance instead of saying cave.
>>
>>26383984

>>

Deciding that a base of operations would be prudent, Mazooll instructs the group to set up camp near the entrance of Eastcave. The camp is complete just as night falls, with a small collection of leaf-covered stick-huts huddled around a central fire pit as their temporary home.
~
Mazooll sends a few Scavengers to peek at the entrance and the general surroundings. They come back at length, unharmed. They report that just beyond the entrance's threshold, there is a grand hall. Inside, there are great stone figures and paintings on the wall, however much more couldn't be gleaned, as they dare not to enter the structure itself. Speaking of which, the structure seems to only be slightly sticking out of the sand. Time and harsh winds appear to have sunken a large portion of this thing under a tide of sand. It may be much bigger and deeper than anyone has realized...
Satisfied with the report for now, Mazooll rests for the night, determined to explore the cave at sun-up.
~
At dawn, Mazooll and her troops enter the great stone behemoth that looms over their camp...
The entrance is just as the reports described, with great stone statues and monoliths lining a large hall. The pictures painted on the walls are vibrant, but time has not been kind and their contents are quite hard to discern...
~
At the end of the hall, there are two more halls, each leading in an opposite direction, one to the left and one to the right.
A faint breeze is coming from the one on the left. No noise can be heard from the right.

The hall descends slightly, eventually curving into a larger room. This room is much less damaged than the entrance, housing the sullen and rotting remains of what appears to be bedding. Apparently whatever this place used to be housed denizens of some type. Very little is salvageable. A Worker breaks from the formation and goes to inspect a pile of bedding that's unusually large. However, on his way there, he trips a cord stretched between two seemingly broken posts. A dart flies from the floor, puncturing his soft underbelly. The wound itself is minor, but the Worker's legs wobble weakly and he collapses. He's alive, but something in that dart is debilitating him.
A quick search of the room indicates that that was the only trap of its kind in the room.
The pile the Worker went to inspect is still there, but whether that's trapped or not is to be determined.

Another Worker goes up to the misshapen bedding and pulls back the cloth drapi-
...
....
.....
......
Nothing happens.
Underneath is a large lock box with its hinges rusted off. It slides open easily, the rusty metal lid hitting the stone floor with a dull 'kuh-lunk'. Inside, it's mostly empty except a small, golden amulet. It's simple, yet beautiful at the same time. At least...conventionally speaking. It's plated gold, with vivid blue spirals snaking its way towards a small, modestly sized gem in the middle. The Rozoolliim know nothing about how this was made or what materials make it up, but they all recognize its beauty...especially Mazooll. She commands the Worker turn over the trinket to her, but...the rest are unsure.
She's demanding the amulet, but despite being above the other Rozoolliim, an overwhelming response against it could change her mind. But it would definitely sour her mood.

>A). Let her keep the amulet. She IS the boss after all...and keeping her happy could keep everyone else considerably safer.
>B). Let another member of the group hold it. Better safe than sorry, right? Well...you just might be sorry if Mazooll doesn't have it, either.
>C). Leave it in the chest. Maybe NOBODY should have it?
>D). Write-In

>>26385178
Best have the worker hold it less it be cursed
>>
>>26385178
Have a Worker wear it first to see if its cursed if nothing happens give it to her.
>>
>>26385178
Have a worker first try it on, if nothing happens then take it with. But do not let Mozooll wear it, magic be cray cray

This
>>
>>26385208
>>26385245
Actually guys maybe we should ask her to wait until we bring it back to the hive to see if it is cursed wouldn't want her to get hit by some mysterious curse that isn't immediately apparent.

The treasure most likely isnt going anywhere. The area should be secured first before we do this. BUT we know SOMETHING HUGE has been here before.
What if its a dragon?
>>
>>26385325
Then I guess we'll be firebreathing bugs soon enough.
>>
>>26385301

>>
>>26385325
Hmm then lets ask her to do this >>26385301
and also ask her to get it on the way back instead of right now but promise her that unless the item is cursed or some other unforeseen event happens the necklace WILL be hers.
>>
>>26385361
Sounds good to me. But she isn't going to be happy about it.
>>
>>26385368
True but better safe then sorry. Maybe she will see reason if we promise her the necklace.
>>

Deciding that the safety of the Princess is more important than her eye for fashion, the Worker chimes that it'd be safer if it was unworn, at least until they return to the Hive. The others agree after a few seconds and opt to let it stay in the rusted lock box until they leave.
Mazooll's grip on her Glaive tightens and she chitters angrily, seething that her soldiers would directly disobey her. However, their decision seems absolute and everyone's safety hinges on reliance on each other, so she leaves it at that. One thing's for certain, she's definitely not happy.
The repercussions of this, if any, have yet to be seen...
~
The passage still continues before Mazooll and the rest of them. It snakes downwards, still, the breeze from before much more distinct now. However, this time there's a...slightly sour smell in the air. It's faint, still, but is detected by everyone.

>A). Continue down the passage.
>B). Turn back.

A) but carefully as hell
>>
>>26385516
Well mind as well go down there and investigate
>>
>>26385516
Continue down the passage. Be extremely careful and keep a slow pace.
>>
>>26385516
Send a tunneler behind a Scavenger to slowly scout it out Scavenger in the lead to see traps and Tunneler in the back in case things go bad have Tunneler use his ability to come back and warn us.
>>
>>26385516
I say we go back the way we came. This way has traps and a smell. There is obviously something this way. Lets clear our backs first then we can move forward.
>>
>>26385556
Sure do this i just realized my idea may not work because of ROCK FLOOR.
>>
>>26385516
>A
But check the passage for more of the traps that we encountered before as we slowly move along.

Can we have our curious ones make some copper/other metal coins for that healer?
I think that, him, being a somewhat influential person to other humans, should be properly compensated, for appearances atleast, also that way no humans should be found unwilling to aid us, for fear that we won't pay.
>>
>>26385675
Yeah the problem is that we don't know how to really make a coin so our coins could probably be counterfeited really easily if they aren't a valuable metal in themselves so they either have to be copper silver or gold for them to be worth anything really
>>
>>26385755
We could have the people of Kahlun make them.
>>
>>26385516

Mazooll, sour at her lack of prize, decides to press on anyways. Perhaps hoping for more treasures at the end of this path. After another minute of travel or so, yet another room is found. This one, however, has a single shrine, dusty from countless ages of neglect. A bust rests atop the shrine: a featureless insectoid face peering into what seems to be infinity. The eyes are empty, only lightly dusty sockets remain. However, it seems something fit in them at one point. The bust itself is of a dull, but shiny metal, almost the same color as Rozoolliim's chitin. It could be valuable. And perhaps whatever fit in the eyes could still be found. Take it?

>Yes
>No

The breeze has turned into a steady stream of air. And a faint sound can be heard now. Its pitch is high, and numerous calls can be heard. What could be making such a racket? The source of the noise is just beyond the next turn.

>A). Continue and explore the source of the noise.
>B). Turn back. Noise? Nuts to that.

>>
>>26385905
C) Don't take it yet, investigate the noise, Then, if everything is clear, take it.
>>
That bust could be made of silver, bring it home to the hive and melt it down later
>>
>>26385905
>No
>A
This should mainly be an exploration mission. We just need to get a layout of the cave, then come back en-mass if it is worth it.
>>
>>26385959
>later

>A
>>
>>26385905

Mazooll says that despite the beauty of the bust, it's not worth lugging around while exploring. It's left alone for now.

The group slowly goes down the passage. At the end, it curves, where a light shines through brightly.

Roll for stealth.
I'll be averaging this one. Rolls will close in 5 minutes.

The group manages to stay quiet as the round the corner and peer into the next room. What they see is marvelous, if not a little horrible.
A sprawling room, much, much larger than the others, opens before Mazooll and the others, the roof easily 50ft above their heads. A bright light shines from the far side and after a moment, they realize that it's a hole in the ceiling and that the sun is shining through! However, small dark figures dart back and forth, causing a strobe effect on the single source of light. The creatures are almost human, with thin frames, short stature, and feathers across most of their body. They squawk loudly, almost deafeningly as they soar across the room, high above. Interestingly enough, the bottom of the room is littered with mostly-empty cages, some with skeletal remains of inhabitants long-dead. However, there's is one still occupied, a large creature with plated skin and gruesome tusks lays within uncaring of the clamor above.
They don't seem to notice the small group of outsiders peering in. What should you do?

>A). Turn back. We've seen enough of...whatever this is.
>B). Sneak around within. They seem decently occupied, especially being so high up. However, it could be a gamble.

A prisoner? The thing will probably get killed if we leave it be.

This seems like a plot gook worth following. Sneak in a group. Who do we have in our group again?
>>
>>26386317
we have 40 and mozooll.
>>
>>26386317

Leader: Mazooll (Equipment: Glaive)
9 Warriors, 5 Scavengers, 3 Nomads, 3 Curious Ones, 3 Tunnelers, 9 Workers and 8 Harbingers
>>
>>26386241
I say we sneak in, get all our numbers in the room and arrayed to our best advantage (warriors taking point as they have been trained better). Then get their attention and ask them who they are and introduce ourselves.
>>
>>26386373
Seconded! Night everybody!
>>
>>26386351
Any archers? We may want to station a group at the entrance of this area, to ensure that our exit (in the case where things go awry) is as smooth as possible.
>>
>>26386373
Can we check the corpses first before calling their attention? See if they're eating their apparent prisoners. They may be a savage group.
>>
>>26386391

Warriors and Harbingers are capable of archery.
The Harbingers are untrained, so results are spotty.
There are currently 9 bows with you guys.
As a side note: Mazooll's sheer size and strength lend her a veritable edge in combat.
>>
>>26386373
This sounds like the best idea so far. I'd have the harbingers do the talking.
>>
>>26386427
we brought 9 bows, theres 8 harbingers. One does the talking. Therefore two bows go to warriors
>>
>>26386241

Deciding that having Harbingers around could possibly help in negotiation, Mazooll orders the Rozoolliim to fan out and be ready for anything.
The other harbingers are armed with bows, as well as two soldiers, while Mazooll stands tall behind the Harbinger that will hail the creatures.
After they're in position, the Harbinger, in commontongue, calls out towards the roof, where the flying creatures seem to congregate. They stop, peering down at the Rozoolliim below, and a loud shriek is heard from the other side of the room.
