The weak perish.
Those unwilling to change, fade into history."

The Rocs are still struggling.
One is being restrained by Rozooll's Dominate spell, though it's still resisting.
The other is physically struggling, but appears to have injured itself in the process.

Have Rozoll dominate the one resisting the spell.

Have her free children worship her for a boost.
>>
>>26297505
B) Worship Rozooll. We need to give her strength so that she may dominate their minds.
A bunch of workers will be exempt so that they may continue securing the Rocs with ropes, but have them focus more on the one that isn't being currently mind controlled. We don't want them getting out and eating us.
And lastly Continue Dominating the first ones mind.
>>
>>26297581
>>26297546
we should worship first and with the extra strength dominate the one roc completely also i can't decide if we should breed them or eat one of them.
>>

Lets discover their gender then decide.
>>
>>26297546

I agree, Dominate and Worship
>>
>>26297647
If they are both female the best idea would be to make them go out and get laid till they have eggs.
If they are both male there are 2 things we can do. Make them go get mates and let them lead us to the eggs or get them to convince them to have the eggs on our spire. Where we then mind rape the female rocs.
Capcha: wellrec was
>>
>>26297743
Lets see if we cant discover how long it takes them to lay eggs and how long it takes them to mature it may not be worth it.
>>
>>26297505

The Rozoolliim worship their Queen, to maintain her strength. Their praise bolsters Rozooll, allowing her to continue channeling Domination on one of the Rocs.
~
Rozooll's grip on the Roc is strengthening. It's nearly under her sway...
~
The Workers and Warriors still fight to subdue the other Roc. It's thrashing kill a few Workers, but it's still prevented from breaking free or flying away.

Honestly I want them as a status symbol. A show of the great power that we hold. No one has ever tamed Rocs. Showing that we CAN will prove a great boon to diplomatic affairs.
>>

With the help of her children's worship, Rozooll finds the strength to completely dominate the Roc!
It calms down, no longer struggling against its bonds or captors.
~
The other Roc is still struggling, but is starting to tire slightly. Unfortunately, in the struggle, a few more Rozoolliim are lost.
(1 Worker, 1 Warrior)

This-this! We will tame their children if they can bare any, and if not we shall eat them for evolution points! Yes-yes, very good

More worship, and have the Curious ones begin finding a way to make good weapons-armors out of shiny-metal bar-things

>>

I agree. This would confuse it more and make it more suitable to mind control.
>>
>>26298325
But we need to keep the worship up so that she can keep her strength up!
>>
>>26298162

With the first Roc under her sway, Rozooll coerces it to soothe the other Roc, who is still resisting, despite its ever-tiring efforts. It calms a little, temporarily ceasing its struggle. Perhaps now, it'll be more susceptible to influence?
~
The Rozoolliim continue their worship, their songs fill Rozooll with strength, allowing her to continue her control over the Roc. However, even with all of her children's praise, she is starting to feel the effects of fatigue...

The dominated Roc keeps the other docile, for the time being. The second Roc appears to have injured its foot in the struggles earlier.

No laying eggs yet. We need to secure the rocs first. Search the males memories a little. See if they are a mated pair and if they have a nest of eggs already. We also need to put them in a cage together would be better, heal her leg so that she doesn't become lame, and feed fish (probably the fish we used as bait in the first place they never got to eat it) them for they must be starving. after that we can worry about everything else

The rocs may already have chicks. In which case, I wonder if it's possible to send them with a few of our nomads to retrieve their chicks or eggs from wherever their nest is.

True we shall do some egg laying later. I kinda thought that you all meant breed the rocs and I was driving myself a little crazy.
>>
>>26299685
It would be prudent, however, to retrieve their hypothetical brood as soon as possible. They likely won't survive long without their parents.
>>
>>26299422

Wasting no time in keeping the Rocs sated, they're fed whatever stores of fish that have been gathered by the Workers. It must have been some time since they've eaten, since they finish their meal very quickly.
~
Rozooll combs through the mind of the Roc, looking for clues of a family or nest. It DOES appear that these Rocs are a mating couple and they do have a nest, however, it's very far. Very far. On the edge of the desert. However, the Roc has no perception of direction (that Rozooll can discern), so the direction escapes her. Though calmed through Rozooll's influence, she can sense that the creature is concerned for whatever is at the nest...

Curious Ones decide to tinker with metallurgy. Their research will continue for a little while...

>>
>>26300596
The queen worm part would probably be good, but I think we need a male worm from the wormcave for that?

Yeah. Either that or we eat the Queen Worm ourselves once she dies. We'd probably get an upgrade to our Tunnelers from eating that much biomass.
>>
>>26300013
Sorry. Was waiting for a decent consensus.

The Roc, by Rozooll's influence, convinces its mate to lead the Rozoolliim to the nest. Her leg is not fully healed, so it hobbles out of the Hive. It very reluctantly allows a handful of Insects (2 Warriors, Workers, and Curious Ones) to ride on her back. Though they aren't too keen to be on the back of a creature that only recently tried to kill them, either.
They take off north-eastward, with a small trail of Crawlers following them.
Time to return: ???
~
Rozooll, in the absence of the others, resumes laying eggs. She lays a clutch of 11 eggs.
~
The Queen Worm is currently busy digging for the hive-improvement project. She can be called back for inspection, though this will halt progress on the project.

Hello everyone, I would just like to remind everybody here what Eastcave is and to best do that here is what our scouts last saw

"They have much to tell of Eastcave...it's huge. As big as the Hive. Maybe even bigger. But it's dangerous...there are many things in there that kill. Living things. Sticks with sharp edges. Fire spit from the walls. But there are also beautiful things inside. Big stones, shaped like big faces. Even many that look like the Queen!
They relay that a big chamber was found, with a strange object inside, but an enormous creature lives within. The dispatch, fearing for their lives, escaped."

How about we scout it out again hmm?

Also have curious ones research fishing.

true on all accounts. I still think templing up the queen is a good idea though.

Yeah, eastcave should be our next priority.

We got rekt last time we tried to go in, but we have come a long way since then. Also, the "big stones shaped like faces" were identified as such before we met humans, implying they represented insect faces.

Yeah. If it turns out to be the home of our ancestors, it feels like it'd be a more appropriate place for us to build a temple in.

Deciding that upon their return, a place to house the Rocs and their potential young would be prudent. Workers flock to The Spire to improve its size and capacity for roosting.
It should be complete in 2 turns.

What is bronze?
>>
>>26301379
Neither of those things would be actually useless. We could simply give those to the humans for trades. We don't use it and it will most definitely help them. The more they like us the better off we are. We might even get them to pray to us for being their guardians if we play it right.
>>
>>26301425
Don't we have iron, though?

Even then, we'd need tin.
>>

Copper does not rust. Also, iron's pretty brittle and crap when it's not made into steel
>>

Worship Rozooll
Have Rozooll birth eggs. (btw the passive system we setup is working right?)
Lets actually not ask Ronin what it is. He basically told us he handles magic and that's it. We might piss him off if we ask him everything. Lets ask the humans we have if they know what it is. If not THEN ask Ronin.
>>
>>26301512
Do this.
>>
>>26301512

>>26301512
This except don't ask Ronin at all. Have the curious ones look at it if the humans are of no use.
>>
>>26301473
Or maybe...
Our current metal is copper/bronze, and we've just discovered iron!

I understand that copper is useful, but it's usage died out for a reason.

It was replaced by iron/steel.

Until we discover electricity, copper likely won't be an important resource.

Not that I actually think the QM would shaft us. Sometimes I just talk to hear my own voice.
>>
>>26301600
Copper is actually very useful (i would THINK) in lightning magic. Its also used as a decorative item alot. Mixed with the right metals it makes brass, which is an awesome metal that actually completely disinfects itself in 7 hours. Bacteria die on it.
>>
>>26301600
Again, copper is hardly useless, even if Iron/steel makes better tools and stuff, the rustless thing makes it great for cases where the hardness/durability isn't an issue, like jewelry (not that significant) and religious paraphenelia (pretty major considering that out queen is a physical god)
>>
>>26301590
> copper doesn't rust

...and I just remembered what copper does with exposure. Now I won't be sad if it is copper, that will just make us the most well-decorated hive on the block, what with the green statuettes and all that.
>>
>>26301671
Exactly. It doesn't decay, it just becomes even awesomer for decorative purposes (and therefore, even greater for religious imagery)
>>

Just as a side note: Passive worship has been asked about before. My response was/is basically that passive worship is a physical possibility, but strong, focused worship is what actually helps Rozooll. It's like the Sabbath, you know? Passive worship would feel nice, but the passive effects would be so small, it wouldn't have any noticeable benefit.

Does it make 'sense'? Probably not. But...that's what makes spending a turn on it so valuable.

The Rookery is complete! When...and if...the Roc returns, it will have a place to comfortably roost! In the meantime, the male seems content to keep it occupied.

Despite sharing more than a bit with the Roc, Rozooll has eaten a bit of fish to feel that familiar sensation. However...this is different. It doesn't feel...complete? She also feels something that she hasn't felt before. She wants something. No, NEEDS it! But...what? Talking with her acolytes, they remark that this is a common feeling called 'craving'. 3 are Crawlers

Rozooll consumes more fish. Her 'craving' subsides...slightly. It's satisfying, but she desires something else. Thinking on it, she realizes that she longs for the taste of Sandworm. She even goes so far as demanding it!
~
The dispatch to Kaalun returns! They discovered that the mysterious ore is actually 'Copper'! Not only that, but they were sent back with a small supply of the material, in addition to some other supplies.
(+10 Copper Bars, 3 hide, 2.1 Units of food)
~
Rozooll stretches her consciousness outward, towards Eastcave...
She sees what her scouts described so long ago: a large, stone structure, with markings on the walls and statues of varying shapes and visages. Most present are ones that resemble Rozooll herself, but with slight alterations. Finally, she sees a great beast of...questionable features. However, it is large, easily as large as the Rocs they capture, but much more solidly built. If this creature is hostile, she will definitely need a sizable force to take it down.

The Warriors sent to the Tunnel return after some time, with prize(s) in hand. A rather large worm carcass and several other worms, though these appear docile. They must sense some lingering Queen pheromones, because the worms immediately slither towards the Sandworm Den that the Queen has made.

The Queen feasts on her long-coveted bounty of Sandworm meat. She ravenously eats the entire thing to herself and pauses after her meal, clearly satisfied, however...
She heaves violently. Rozooll stiffens, before retching. Before long, she's covering herself in a thick membrane...it appears as though the Queen is entering a cocoon!

The lookouts in the spire report that figures are approaching from the north-east!

Scouts return, having met more desert-travelers. These, like the last, were friendly, though unsurprised of the odd species that greeted them. However, they did not stick around for long. Seems that word of the Rozoolliim is spreading, though.

The Curious Ones investigate the Sandworms occupying the Den, happy to have a safe look at them. It seems that all Sandworms, aside from the Queen, are male. The Sandworms have begun digging a pit in a corner of the Den. The Curious Ones theorize that this may be some sort of nest or spawning pool.

They pray to Rozooll for strength and for her well-being during...whatever changes are happening to her. The cocoon, as usual, casts an eerie orange glow on the hatchery in response to their prayers.

The Workers, to supplement this, place small stone decorations inside the hatchery. A Curious One, who has been feverishly recounting the experiences of the Rozoolliim, adorns the walls with crude tablets, records of the trials that the Hive has suffered through. We have been neglecting her really.....
>>
>>26303963
Wait....I'm beginning to understand.

I haven't read all the threads yet, but I'm guessing Xyzzy.....is related to that first god we ate....
>>
With 2 actions/turn we're neglecting a LOT of stuff. We need to improve our hivemind for better overall output. Ya know, maybe add some ancient worship as Rozooll's divine servants. Or something. Bug theocracy-hivemind is glorious so far.
>>
>>26304008
We know but we kinda have a plan. Evo points are few and far between. So we are trying to gain them to make a class that would allow us to get a lot of genetic diversity by eating things. We call them Matrons. They can lay eggs like the queen but they are like lieutenants in the social hierarchy. They would allow us to manage small hives in distant areas so we could eat different things so we could evolve faster. Man this post is going to be a small block of text compared to my normal length.

Caste not class. My bad.

The female Roc, though content in her roost, is in pain from her mangled leg. Ronin is asked if there's any healing magic he knows. He exasperatedly sighs and begins his usual rebuttal but is cut off when a Harbinger adds that 'anything helps'. He's led to the Spire and does his best to heal the wound. However, after some time, he says he did all he could, but he couldn't completely mend it himself.
~
The unexpected, but welcome appearance of the strange crystal, causes the acolytes and Rozoolliim to rejoice and worship their God-Queen. The cocoon's usual dull-orange glow intensifies greatly and it pulsates dangerously fast...

The Queen Worm has completed work on a large, inner-ring for the Hive! For details and pictures, the previous thread(s) have details. Or perhaps Tesla would be kind enough to repost them.
~
The Hive worships in a great, clamorous gathering mass within the hatchery. Their chittering and clattering carapaces make a cacophonous noise, vibrating the very walls of the Hive. The cocoon glows so intensely, it almost seems to radiate heat. As the praise reaches its culmination, the cocoon wrenches open with a sickening "Rip". Rozooll emerges from the tattered, wet remains of the cocoon. She seems mostly the same, except for a small, glowing, fleshy pouch near her 'stomach'. She demonstrates the use of this odd addition, but spewing out a thick slime from her mouth and onto the floor of the hive. The Rozoolliim recoil at first, frightened, but soon they find that the slime is perfectly safe. If anything, they feel more secure as it hardens into a thick, fleshy carpeting. What could this new mutation offer the Rozoolliim?
~
A small group is sent back to Kaalun, to find a doctor or healer proficient enough to help the injured Roc. They'll return in a week.

Have the Curious Ones explore the abilities of the goo. In the long run we could use Building Goo (to make our Hive durable as fuck), Binding Goo (beats chains if you ask me), Healing Goo (for bug hospital) and Strangling Goo (for traps), just to mention a few uses.

As second action, let Rozooll and Ronin examine the blue crystal
>>

Passive Harvest yields 12.7 Units of food.
~
The Sandworm Queen returns the her Den with the others. She regurgitates a viscous green fluid into a small dug-out basin and lays a clutch of eggs inside. Disgusting!
~
The Curious Ones investigate the new slimy goo that the Queen is able to produce. After hours of tedious testing, they find that it has a multitude of uses. It seems to greatly reinforce any structure its applied to, once it hardens. This also could make it a valuable adhesive, as well as restraints, for any who'd require it. The Rozoolliim also claim to feel 'closer' to Rozooll when in contact with it. Perhaps there's a type of communicative pheromone in it?
~
The dispatch to Kaalun returns with a single citizen. He's an older gentleman, but claims to be a retired healer. He sets himself to work on the Roc's wounds, despite its discomfort at a new face being so close.
