You are Maro of Jin also known as Maro of the Lightning.
It has been two days since you fell unconcious from overexertion and tainted chi. Brought to the natural hotsprings on Jin by Ming and the rest of your companions you await whatever healing they can give you in hopes of finally fixing the effects of Lao Len tainting your chi.

You recall that the Jin area has many natural hotsprings due to being a volcanic island, the common folk of the islands have their own facilities but your family owns the modest wooden enclose with private rooms that you're sitting in right now. As Ming enters the room you start to wonder why your family didn't have you brought to the waterbender healer that lives in the town. You see Ming setting up a few things and wonder what they are.

Pausing in your next question, you look down and notice around the few scars where heated needles were driven into you, great purple spots spreading across your chest and leg.

Waiting patiently upon the table you had been placed on unknowingly at some point in time, you wait for Ming to begin her work - in truth you cannot do anything but wait for Ming to start, your whole left side is paralyzed again.

Her work with the needles is slow and deliberate and you start to regain some sensation on the left side of your body. Pan and Lily both come in to watch but they're quickly put to work by Ming, making an 'energy restoring' tea.

Despite the regaining of sensation you still have difficulty moving any of the left side of your body.

"It seems that my fears have been confirmed, acupuncture and even moxibustion are unlikely to fix you Maro"
"... What would then Ming?"
"I need to bleed the tainted chi out of you and it would work best if Lily and Rokan would co-operate to help you, but Rokan hasn't even been willing to be in Lilys presence since their argument over you in the litter"

Gesturing to Lily you are helped to sit up, hair falling in front of your eyes.
"Our relationship has changed Rokan, we are no longer tutor and student. You no longer dictate the terms of our exchanges. We - all three of us - are equals here."

Rokan seems to tear up at the reprimand, unsure of what to say.

"I care for you Rokan, though it has taken me a long time to realize exactly how I care for you." you continue "I care for Lily just as much. I want what we all have together to continue, but I cannot stand to watch you bicker with each other. Please, set aside your ego's and take comfort in the knowledge that I love you both"

Both of them are silent, processing the things you have said.

"We'll work on it" Rokan and Lily say in unison.
"Good. Ming needs your help to heal me, something about blood cupping - she needs you Rokan to heat the cups, and you Lily to make the small cuts that will draw the tainted chi out."

Lily lays you down again and both of them sneak a kiss before calling Ming back into the room. You drift out of consciousness as they leave and find yourself laying against a tree near the edge of a pond. Gen Xiao Ren stands before you, six arms folded and sneering behind bloodshot eyes.

Drifting out of the spirit world, you find yourself lying in hotsprings water, blood barely seeping out of three small incisions made in your shoulder, side and hips.

Looking around you see Pan, sitting with only her feet in the water.
"I'm here to make sure you don't slip and drown, it's been two and a half days since you last blacked out. How do you feel?"

Raising a hand out of the water you create a small but strong flame. "I feel much better"

Climbing out of the hotspring, Pan quickly wakes Ming who dresses your wounds.

It was hit-or-miss through the Arrancar arc. There were some bits of animation there where you can tell they pulled out their A-team for once, dusted them off, and shoved some new batteries in them. Lasted about three episodes at a time.

At the family estates, one of the servants escorts you and your company into the largest sitting room where you're greeted by both Sho and Maru.

"Are you well now Maro? I feared for some time that we might lose our only son" your father says.
"I am well father, my companions are excellent healers and bodyguards"
"Do you really need bodyguards Maro?" your mother asks
"For what I plan on doing. Yes. I told you both that I could not stay on Jin for long when I first returned. I intended to see Pan home safely, but I begin to worry that with my taking ill I've lingered here far longer than I should have"

Honestly, dealing with the Firelord gets our family in the clear, which is the first step in dealing with the other shit. It also gives us a good chance to fully investigate Pan's kidnapping, and to tease out any plans Rokan might have.

Grabbing your khakkara and tucking your sai into your clothes, mayu and you dash off to the docks. Doing some mental calculations you think that your companions will be able to have most of the villagers and your family into the hills in under an hour.

You notice the ship that brought you to jin still docked, the fire navy soldiers seem to be avoiding coming close to it, they brought four warships though... and you count twelve boats in the water, each with ten or more soldiers. Mayu climbs the lookout at the docks with ease and declares she'll be aiming for any firebenders. Once you've dealt with the boarding parties you can deal with the ships themselves.

Just glad you're back for another session.

Finally glad to be fighting near water and not having to worry about collateral damage your work up a great wave of fire with your arms and breathe further life into it as you send it out across the water. Two of the first seven ships you hit go down immediately, no benders on board. The remaining five have benders, but only two of them are skilled enough to part the flames you create, the rest go down. Two arrows streak towards the two ships that managed to part the flames and one bender is taken out.

Seven ships remain and two draw close to the docks, the remaining five are still some ways out. In the distance you notice another volley of fireballs being loaded up on the warships.

Building up another great wave of fire, you unleash it over the water, putting to ash all but three of the seven remaining ships.

The first of the three makes a miraculous defense, stopping your fire cold where the other two merely part it and then he lobs a bolt back at you which bowls you over when you try to defend against it. Trying to stand back up the firebenders on the first two ships continue to assail you as the third ship draws into the docks.

Mayu fires arrows desperately, but only strikes three of the soldiers in the first landing party, leaving you six men and a firebender to deal with.

Taking a deep breath as mayu sends more arrows flying into the soldiers charging up the docks you close your eyes and seperate your chi. twisting as you step forward you arc a bolt of lightning over the soldiers and into the first boat - throwing men everywhere, but the skilled bender ends up leaping towards the dock with a jet of fire..

The soldiers in front of you seem to pause stunned, giving you time to repeat the attack on the second boat. More arrows thud home and you're left facing two firebenders. A ball of flaming pitch arcs into the town and you hear it sizzle as though doused in water.

The skilled bender - clearly the commander of this operation throws a bolt of fire at you and with a rising kick clearly inspired by a dragon lashing its tail you throw out a blade of flame that consumes the bolt and forces the man to dive out of the way. Lowering your foot and leg, you spin and throw both hands to your right side launching you towards the other bender, fire screaming from your feet, he attempts to make a wall of flame but you soar overtop of it. Lashing out with a few kicks you overwhelm the mans defences as you drop infront of him - before he can do anything else you strike out with flaming breath.

The leader of the invasion stands up once again and takes stance - only for an arrow to thud into his neck.
