You are Lord William Bordain, Lord of Morderengrad and the Norther Valley. Some call you the Iron Lord, as your wealth flows from the arms and armor you sell, and your demeanor is as unflinching and cold as castle-forged steel. Other have taken to calling you “The Grey Giant”, in reference to your great size, less-than-warm demeanor, and your recent marriage to House Tollett of Grey Glen.

You are a Lord by right of Murder, having slain the Targaryen children in the Sack of King’s Landing. After years of solitary brooding, you have decided to rejoin life, You have wedded the lady Alyssa Tollet, meaning that in time the lands of her father, lord Tollet of Gray Glen, will also be yours. Further, your wife has just announced that she is with child.

Which means that you have a legacy to create. You will not leave your child without care or resources, and so you have dived into the management of your lands and holdings, to procure a bright future for yourself and your children. But storm clouds darken the horizon. Tywin Lannister has asked that you seek to supplant Jon Arryn, your liege lord, as Hand of The King. Further, Oberyn Martell has crossed you, and this you will not let go unpunished.

You’ve just hired a passel of men to begin organizing and arranging your Land’s funds. Your gold mine has a foreman, you have a Banker, and accountant, and a foreign market liaison. You acquired an architect, and a mason’s guild. And Robert Baratheon paid you back!

Now, however, you and your family are surrounded by bandits, on your trip to the Eyrie. The rogues have just informed you they are planning to abduct your mother. You’re outnumbered, but so far, you’ve made a lot more of them die than your men.

Yes, right on time.

We continue our trend of "Page's life intentionally fucks over when he says he'd start" this week, with one of the players in the 40k match showing up late, without an army list prepared.

IN OTHER NEWS, we'll cover your lordly resources and holdings when you're not in the middle of a bloody fracas.

We last left off with you and your Bloodsmiths holding the line around your family, having been savagely ambushed and assaulted en route to the Eyrie. You have taken several blows, and are beginning to take injuries and wounds to accommodate the damage from the enemy archers.

The head bandit had just offered to let you and your party proceed if you surrendered your mother to their hands.

You seemed disinclined to acquiesce to their request.

The Chiefs of the Painted Dogs that ride with you have taken their place alongside you and your Bloodsmiths, expanding the ring of protection around your wife, mother, and sister.

You are several rounds' advance from the river, where you've been heading to form a defensive back, though the bandits seem unconcerned with the possibility of you making it there.

Your last question of me was what would be possible if you spent a Destiny point. TO answer, here's a list!

We are currently awaiting your response to the bandit's offer.

It is one thing to cross you. Men have bothered you, hindered you, and insulted you for years. It's another to attack you. That goes with the Lordship, and Squiring, you were ready for that. But this man, this dog, this worm stood before you, and demanded your mother. That was a threat to your family. These men have forsaken their right to dwell on the same world as you. They are the Stranger's now.

"A generous offer," you begin, stepping forward, your eyes filling with red. "But if you're going to forgive the men I kill, I may as well make a FEW MORE!"

(Roll fighting...)

So saying, you plunge your pick into the man who spoke's chest, your point tearing through his leather jerkin in the back, and spraying blood.

"KILL THESE DOGS!" You cry. And your Bloodsmiths go to work.

Roll fighting. (7d6)

It's actually uncommon for a lord to have his full retinue of guards with him, unless actively seeking or expecting battle. It's like... it would be like cops walking around the station in full Riot gear.
Half strength is a standard "I'm not leaving myself unprotected, but I don't expect a fight."

You and your men are trained with bows. At present, you'd need to order some back from the line to draw and ready.

Meanwhile:

Your knights surge forward, in an attempt to overpower and drive back the bandits. Between your furious swings, and the assault of your Bloodsmiths, 8 of the bandits go down in the next few seconds, though, lunging into battle, one of your Bloodsmiths overextends, and is brought low as well.

Current total: 13 vs 15 visible

>>26277968
If you wish to have selected any of them, feel free. I've just never described all 20 of your Bloodsmiths and you've never invesigated them, so I assumed beyond Egar, they were interchangeable in your eyes.

Good god man.

And your Bloodsmiths rolled just as well, jesus.

You call to your men another strategy, which they shift into position to execute. As they move, one of them fall, leaving a gap in your lines, which the bandits pour into.

Which was your plan all along.

Another Bloodsmith sidesteps, and the bandits find themselves surrounded by your men, and blocked in by their allies.

The feint traps 4 men, and as the bandits fall back, you claim another 4.
As you stand over them, the arrows fly from teh woods, but batter your shield harmlessly

now, 14 men on your side to 7 visible enemies.
Presumably, enemy reinforcements are on the way.

What do you do?

Keep on swinging.
>>

Lets go with Intimidation and bravado, I don't believe a word about the reinforcements, but I prefer the enemy I see to the one that remains hidden.

"There is only one William Bordain, and there is only one man whose name will be remembered for killing me. Who wants to be that man?!"

How is the non combatants doing? And we should be thinking about getting the hell out of dodge before more reinforcements show up.
>>

You decide you can't risk putting your family in further harm, it's time to end this.

You stride forward, and rise your warpick.
"There is only one WIlliam Bordain, and only one man who will be remembered for slaying me. WHO AMONG YOU IS BRAVE ENOUGH?"

(Rolling intimidate...perfect roll. jesus, you guys hate these fucking bandits.)

The remaining melee combatants draw back, and retreat to the woods, some scurrying, some walking back with blades drawn, but all definitely yielding the field.

You have beaten the current combatants, what do now?

You drive your men, and family, before you, keeping your position in the rear, between them and the threat of bandits. You set an aggressive pace, straining the women of the group, but you have no wish to be surprised again upon the road.

You make the settlement without further attack, and at the appearance of a dozen armed and armored men, the smallfolk are quickly hopping to aid you. Soon you have Dewall and Benn getting rough treatment for their wounds, which should hopefully keep Benn well until the Eyrie.
(Rolling to help Dewall...bare success) Dewall, you learn, may yet live, for now they've stayed him from dying, but that's all they do here.

You find yourself resting for a moment with your family.

>>

>>
>>26280421

I see the Red Viper's hand in this.

Our rival lords could earn more by our simply killing us than asking for ransom, and they were not from the hill tribes. The whole thing had a very personal tone. Ask father and mother about the attack but softly.
>>
>>26280523
Because they know we would have fought like a starving wolf with a toothache and rabies. And then she would have killed herself rather than give them the satisfaction.

You're still running a little hot, fresh off of battle, with a brisk jog. You focus a little.
"Mother, those men were after you. Any idea why?"

Your mother shakes her head.
"I'd never seen any of them before," she says.

"I doubt you would, men like that. But have you angered anyone of late? Crossed any nobles, spat on any pirates?"

Your mother thinks for a time, and shakes her head. "The most I've offended anyone of late was when I told a knight that I was your mother at the wedding, and he looked liked I claimed I was The Mad King himself."

Hmm. Not helpful. But why. Why her? Attack on you? Your father? There's a lot of variables. If only you had caught one of the knaves, you could make him talk.
