I'd have just flat out told him that doesn't negate the spell. The spell says you suggest a course of action - the other two actions were perfectly clear and would have accomplished basically the same thing, and even then, the idea is that your character doesn't realize he's being compulsed at the time, so even if he "thought" of his hammer as a tool, he would not be trying to find technicalities to get out of the suggestion, he'd say "I don't think of this as a weapon, but I understand what he is talking about, and what he is saying sounds reasonable."

I'm not entirely sure we can isolate it to "the nose." It seems like the boner is triggered by a combination of several different factors, working in tandem to bring forward a response. I think we're onto something here. The interruption of an isolation principle (i.e. the Von Restorff effect) by the garish blues and reds causes a net decrease in the boner-inducing potential of the image, while the softer colors that fade into the background leave more room for gradual boner development as the eyes can more easily focus on the original image. As someone who's up to date with the manga, I have to say FUCKING YES. You see, when the anime was produced, the manga was only part way through, so halfway through the Arachne arc shit got non-canon. The new shit is pretty intense and awesome. Example, lets just say a certain ungenderable person killed their snakey mother....

The tone is different too. The anime is more comedy focused while the manga tends a little more towards a balance with more drama, moreso in the arcs after Arachne (Eibon and The Moon arcs as I call them).
