Good evening, sorry that I'm a tad late to start. Either way, I'm here now. I'm going to mention now that this thread won't go on for as long as some of the others, as I need to sleep. Tomorrow I'm getting early far a trip, so I can't afford to do a six hour thread. That said, I'm going to try and speed up the updates slightly.

Previous threads:

Gronk spent the next few days practising with those trolls, and found something strange. Each day, they seemed to be getting slower and his axe was getting lighter. Eventually, he realised it was he who was improving daily. He found dodging attacks and wielding his axe easier and easier, as he moved it a blinding blur of metal and teeth. Moruk returned with his goblins while Gronk was sparring, and waited until he had finished. What he saw was impressive, and quite different to how Gronk normally fought. Mostly, Gronk used his body to absorb blows and the caught his attacker off guard. Now, he was moving away from blows and drawing his opponents off balance before striking. It was a welcome change. Moruk brought something special with him, the product of his trip. It was a huge bear pelt, the creature it came from must have been at least the size of Gronk. Moruk had killed and skinned it with his sword, eating the body out there in the mountains. He maintained there was enough fur to make a cloak for himself, Gronk and (here he gestured at the ragged, blood smeared are his sword entered the body) Vulug. Gronk withheld judgment on the cloaks, but nevertheless congratulated Moruk on such a fine kill.

Tak-Tak spent most of his time searching the archives with his under-scribes, feverishly seeking the plans to the ballista. He had narrowed down the area, using the time period it was built as a guide. He was confident he’s have it in a few days. At the same time, the trolls felt that Moruk had set the standard for how one must worship Gronk. They decided to go out hunting, and were given a clever idea by Moruk, the cunning one. He suggested hunting only those animals that preyed on the mountain goats, thus allowing the goats to grow in number unheeded. When the mine was almost empty of trolls, Gronk decided to test out something new. He had the goblins bring him a dwarf female, one of those yet to choose a dwarf to mate with. He lay with her for a night, trying his best no to damage her. Their coupling was not meant to be, however, as she died in the night. Gronk felt angered by this, but there was little he could do. He simply resolved to find new races in Märlas.

Great, we have one!

What technology specifically?
>>
>>26174196

Can we look at improved farming capabilities, food is going to be more scarce since we have so many trolls.

Either that or we go fuck märlas up..
>>
>>26174224
And what do you want to train? In general, any option that had various things after it requires specification.

Bumping before I write the update.

This one is here!

Worship Gronk, but change from Big Papa to the more elegant Great-Father. Include some dwarves in the worship. This one has plans to incorporate them into our growing kingdom.

We must scout! This one wishes to know troop movments around human-place. Send goblins, they are sneaky-faster than trolls

Have remaining goblins work at improving our above ground farms, and put some dwarf-meat on the job expanding the underground farm. We will need much more food in the future
>>
>>26174053
D: research chainmail. (we now have enough claws adn shields, gotta start on armor)
D: keep working on the ballista
E: train magic. gronk should make flaming earth trolls. that oughta scare the shit out of the enemy. or flaming balls of rock that explodes.
>>
>>26174261
I think we should look to train ranged for the goblins and ballista and melee for the trolls.

Then set off next turn to take the town.

How many ballistas do we have?

Troll-rat-meat-thing, I think we might ask the other regulars before changing the name... and I'm not sure elegance is a concern for trolls. Otherwise it's sound.

>>26174343
Just asking, but have you read the previous threads?

We have one ballista, and Tak-Tak is looking for the plans to determine how we would make more.
>>
>>26174334
Stupid-fool dwaf-meat! Chainmail takes long time, is hard to maintain and will delay our war by years if we try to equip all trolls with it. We have a handful of individuals that can forge.

And Gronk cannot make earth work like that. He has limited control of stone. And we have not yet even tried two magics at once. you asks too much dwarf-meat, slow down and plan for future AND immediate concerns
>>

he can make flame trolls. and he got a bit better at earth after the war with dorfs. he should be able to fill his flame troll with rocks.

Worshiping Gronk should now always take the form of trolls and lesser races bowing down to our statue while Tak-Tak reads from the Book of Gronk in trollish.

All young goblins learn trollish in addition to troll supremacy right?

This one has plan to incorporate dwarves into our nation. Free the ten dwarves that seem the most loyal. They can choose when to work, when to relax and sleep and eat. But they have a chance to earn "credits" if they work overtime. What are these credits for? Well, ten credits will free another dwarf. Earning those ten credits will take a single dwarf three months. And attendance to every worshipping of Gronk, and learning the basics of Trollish language. Dwarf-meat will work hard, even though it is free. Dwarf-meat will learn, even though it is free. Dwarf-meat will pray to US, even though it is free.

And so will all the dwarfs, in time. When all dwarfs have earned the freedom of their fellows, they will be loyal, and we will not need slaves anymore. Dwarves will form under-class with goblins, yes-yes, but will be free. We are not cruel. We are the Great Father, and these dwarfs are merely misguided children, that we must teach to be obedient.

Yes-yes. This will make for strong future
>>
>>26174696
While very cunning, this is very out of character. Gronk is not an accountant or a politician. Please try to keep the character in mind when making suggestions.
>>
>>26174696
or we could just kill anyone who doesnt pray, you know like a real god would do, and watch as the heretics die out and believers thrive.

>>
Hey guys.
>>
With his trolls engaged in worshipping him, Gronk practised his mastery of stone. He refined a lump of rock into a twisting model of a fire. It was a thing more intricate and delicate than anything than trolls had ever produced before, smooth and minutely detailed. Gronk was pleased with it, but knew that small changes wouldn’t be useful in a battle. He left the mine secretly for a few hours, using the time to shatter boulders bigger than himself higher up on the mountain. Using the piles of useless rock that the dwarves had dumped on the slopes, he practised throwing, breaking and twisting them. In the meantime, his trolls spent days roaring his name from the mountain peak. Once this had been to affirm their ownership of the territory, but now it had evolved. As Gronk was now master of every troll in the mountain range, announcing the borders in trollish had little purpose. Now it was a way of worshipping the Big Papa, a dedication to him.

Tak-Tak found the plans after a few more days of trawling the archives, bringing the plans directly to his office. He sent a message to Tink-Tank, asking him to come and examine them with him. Gronk had expected friction between the two, but it seemed they were more than willing to share power over the rest of the goblins. It was Tak-Tak’s message that likely saved Tink-Tak’s life. Some weeks ago, three dwarves had been brought into the forge to help with making claws for the bulls. They had been diligent, if very quiet, workers until that day. In the hours that Tink-Tank was away, they staged a bloody attack and sabotage of the forge. They killed the dwarves and goblins working there and placed some of the more volatile substances inside the forge itself, critically damaging it. The explosion brought goblins running, but it was too late. The larger of the two forges was now destroyed. The three dwarves who had committed the sabotage died in the explosion, but Gronk wondered about punishing the rest of the dwarves.

E: Train trolls to fight as one

why is the food little, mountain is supposed to be full of goats and we just sent trolls to hunt all the wolves around. we should have meat.
>>
UNACCEPTABLE! Punish the families of the dwarfs that did this, but only them. Everyone else will be free of punishment. Let it not be said we are a cruel master. Others will learn from this example

We must expand farms. Goblin farmers above, dwarf farmers below

Train trolls more. Teach them to obey signals during battle. Incorporate goblins into training.

Finally, rebuild the forge
Where is vulug? He should be here by now
>>
>>26175180
How about that there are a lot of trolls, dwarves and goblins eating the food and that there is no-one hunting regularly nor is there anyone farming. The dwarves are all working in the mines, which was chosen a thread or so ago. They could work on the farms, but they aren't.

>>26175208
How so? He was only sent off two updates ago, and it's a long journey there and back, apart from the time he will spend there.
>>

>>
>>26175092
Bad blood continues for three generations. Take all first generation (parents, brothers/sisters), second generation (children), and third generation (cousins) of the traitors.

Allow them all one chance to repent and kill themselves near our statue in order to redeem their sinfulness. If they refuse, ash-ify them.
>>
>>26175247
>repent and kill themselves
thats too forgiving. i like my original punishment better.
>>
>>26175265
Oh they won't do it. It just gives us the added bonus of looking slightly merciful, as is expected from a righteous God.
>>
So,

>Farm
>Work on Ballista
>Train the troll

And it seems that the dwarve's families are to be punished for their crimes.
>>
>Sorry it took me so long, computer keeps playing up

Gronk had every dwarf related to the offending dwarves slaughtered, but didn’t retaliate against any of the other dwarves. Instead, he broke the routine of labour in the mine and sent them to the mushroom farms instead. Swinging a pick to free metal ore from rock was much harder than gathering the large ripe fungi. And it helped bring in food for the trolls. Mushrooms were far less interesting than meat, but were better than nothing. The trolls were developing a great appetite with their training, which was starting to incorporate the goblins. The trolls were working on a routine of moving to allow the goblins to fire, before shielding them so they could reload. Wooden targets were peppered with bolts, before being smashed apart by the trolls. The simulation was less than interesting until teams of trolls were used as the targets. Their objective was to break through the training group and reach the goblins.

Although the larger of the two forges was now destroyed, the smaller one was still functioning. Most of the tools had been relocated after a few days, and the plans seemed sound according to the goblins. They began to construct a model that would be useable by trolls, removing the need for dwarf or goblin loaders.

Shouldn't food be less limited?

Take part in training. Set up Moruk and some other smart trolls as officers to give orders. Make sure everyone practices well and hard. For, by next thread, we will strike.

Send scouts, preferably goblins. We must know the movement of troops around human place

And work on the ballistaes. Nine or ten ought to be just fine for pierce-killing

About scouting; it's been done twice and Vulug is in Märlas now. I don't see why everyone keeps saying that we should scout, as it's been done often. What more do you expect to learn?

Attempt to create a troll usable forge.

H
Righto now we have 40F trolls, or at least 37/38F trolls not related to us.
I propose that the female trolls form into separate entity within the tribe, were females have ranks (Probably sorted out among themselves). The top say dozen none relation females are the troll king/leaders mates and everyone else get to choose the strongest/smartest/most accomplished trolls in the tribe to mate with, or hell who ever takes their fancy.

Give a good reason to have the trolls fight for ranking and therefore mating chance, and gets them some live action fighting (but NOT to the death).

This will prevent long term inbreeding and promote the already warrior like culture.

Also gather a load of goats and livestock for food/goat farms, we need to get some grub. Maybe in future look into some sort of food storage.
>>
>>26175678

What do you mean by troll friendly? If you mean 'usable by trolls' that will be difficult. We've already established that we are unable to build a forge, and the current ones are far too small. Even if you could build one, no trolls know how to use a forge.

so many different types of trolls in lore, i didnt realize these were those type of troll.

like i said new into the thread, we have alot of dwarf prisoners, dwarfs are great at crafting, how about we have them build a forge, that they can then craft us armor with?
>>
>>26175817
This one likes this idea. But it must be expanded. Cleverness and intelligence must be important as well. We are making a new kind of troll here, one that is smart, and will rule over dwarfs, goblins and humans. Any troll that knows magic automatically has rights to a mate. Make that a law. And troll-kin, such as Vulug, have first right to either a troll female or any slave-females. The Children must be strong, yes-yes, but smart too.
>>
>>26176055
they have it. we live inside dorf mines.
>>
>>26176055
This one would rather not wait to get proper armor. Trolls are already SPECIALISTS at melee, and they now have metal claws and big shields, and will soon be supported by ballistaes. Anything more than some other neccesary short term preprations for attacking human-place are unnecessary.

Things to do

Gronk decided to interrupt the training to send the bulls out hunting for goats. The bulls were glad, as the training had been a hard routine and the lack of meat was beginning to grate against them. Gathering the slow and lazy goats on the dwarven mountain was easy, the lack of hunting in their past not giving them the experience to evade the trolls. When they returned, Gronk made an announcement; he had decided to allow mating rights to two bulls. One would of course be Moruk, the other would be the winner of a contest between all the bulls. There would be bouts of non-lethal combat, with one winner proving themselves by the end. The battles were long and achingly close, but two trolls proved themselves the cream of the crop. One was a relative new comer to the tribe, a member of Fellash’s tribe. He had already sparred against Gronk, displaying incredible speed and a savvy battle knowledge. The other was one of Gronk’s sons, a bulky, slow moving fighter. Their fight was something of an anit-climax, in which the speedier new comer avoided his opponent’s attacks before launching his own. He was proclaimed victor and given access to one of the females, one of those spawned by Gronk.

After the excitement of the trials, work was resumed on the ballista. The first prototype was almost ready for testing. Tink-Tank grumbled occasionally about the smaller forge not being quite suited to the task, but mostly seemed to hardly have noticed the changeover, so absorbed in his work was he. Vulug returned about a week after the trials, in a new cloak of a thick black material. His hair had been trimmer and tied into a braid. On his waist, a silver buckle affixed a black leather belt upon which a metal sword was affixed. He had many tales of the human city to tell Gronk.

>Cont.
>>
>>26176574
With Moruk in attendance and a freshly cooked goat between them, the trollkin began his tale. His arrival to the city had been unremarkable, as finding a place to stay in Märlas was easy. First he had walked around the city and surveyed the walls and defences. He had not been impressed. Like Moruk and Ragnar had noted when scouting, the walls were in a state of disrepair and were hardly manned. The watch, what passed for the law in Märlas, were lazy, corrupt and incompetent. Vulug had spent several days talking with men about the origin of the city, and who ruled it. It seemed the city had been deliberately built outside the borders of any kingdom, so that it could be a haven from laws that restricted profit. It was ruled by a notorious criminal who had named himself Mayor when no-one else dared stand against him. Vulug had seen him from afar, and said that he was a large fat man with darting eyes. The city was only lived in by those who needed to be free from society’s constraints, or were banished. Mercenaries, wanted criminals, outlaws and merchants not interested in paying taxes were the city’s main denizens. Vulug had lured someone from the inn where he had been staying out into the alleyway, before tearing his throat out with his long, claw like, nails. He had used the man’s money to buy some better clothes, as well as various books. They were books on military tactics and history mostly, brought back for Tak-Tak to study and relate to Gronk.

>Cont.
>>
>>26176777
The most interesting piece of knowledge Vulug reported not only made Gronk reconsider his plans for invasion, but made something from his past a little clearer. Vulug spoke of a company of ‘Minotaurs’, great horned beasts that were famous for their skill at arms, that currently abided in Märlas. Apparently, Minotaur females were incredibly rare, forcing most males to travel the earth to find even one. These travelling males often formed into mercenary companies and sold their services to the highest bidder, giving them a chance to shed blood, make gold and earn a name at the same time. A company of at least thirty were currently staying Märlas, waiting for an offer worthy of their talents. If Gronk attacked the city, they would likely move to defend it, as they were deeply honourable. Apart from them though, there seemed to be little stopping the great Gronk from taking the poorly held city.

Interesting.... This one has a plan. We must demonstrate to the Children and the world our raw cunning. Why fight when we can take the city with words? We shall send Vulug back, and he well exhort the minotaurs to slay the corrupt Mayor. How can they tolerate being withing a hundred miles of his debased presence? Would they not rather serve a strong, mighty, honorable invidual such as the Troll-King? Vulug will gain the confidence of the minotaurs, and they will help us take the city. Then, we will clean up the city, maintain its status as a place free from laws, with the only change being trolls as ovelords. Yes-yes. Is good plan

What do others think?

For immediate actions, we must do something with the dwarfs. When we leave, they will surely try something, as we will take many bull trolls and goblins with us. We must reach them somehow, make them love us. What do others think? This one has no ideas on how to win their obedience

Also, more ballistaes, and practice with officers and magic mixed in with the training. After we hear back from Vulug about the minotaurs, we will strike. Yes-yes, very soon

Sorry Squeeskritch, seems you're the only one interested. I'll wait a few more minutes, to see if anyone else replies. If not, I'll leave it here for tonight.

This one is... sorry. But I need to turn off soon anyway. I'm almost sorry we aren't playing skaven, you're so devious you'd make a fantastic skaven player.

Okay, I'm going to archive this and turn off. This thread has been a bit slow, my fault for not putting updates out fast enough. Unfortunately, the next thread isn't going to be a for a while. In fact, it's going to be 9 days. For me, that's next Wednesday.

This one is here. We could discuss plans for Gronk and his nation.

This one is thinking of a glorious feudal kingdom, ruled by descednants of Moruk, with trolls as the knights and much of the nobility, and magic wielding troll-kin like Vulug filling out the rest of the nobility. Goblins, dwarfs, humans and other such beings will fill the middle and lower classes. And these people, The Children of the Mountains, will worship us as a god long past our death. In the future, they will say the Great-Father united the trolls, and ended squabbling. He found the goblins, and took them in, teaching them trollish and giving them safety and leadership. He came unto the dwarfs, and slew their cruel and vicious masters, so that he could enlighten them and give them true strength. Then, he descended from the mountains a cast out corruption from the City, and transformed it into the capital of a great northern nation, with armies of goblins, dwarfs and humans, backed by mighty trolls, clad from foot to toe in heavy metal armor, and magic wielding troll-kin who used the very flames that would otherwise harm their brethren to scorch the foes of the Children.

This is the future of the Children. This is the future of Gronkash Malasit Yursonk, the Great-Father

Or at least that is this one's plan for the future

Sounds nice but i'm going to be skeptical about noble trolls until we can hammer some civility into them.
>>
>>26178257
Perhaps only knights then. You must admit, a dozen trolls clad head to toe in armor with huge axes and shields would be equivalent to a cavalry charge. Except the mount and rider are one, and vulnerable only to fire, which can be mitigated if we have lots of troll-kin who can use magic.

More like living engines of war! I can hardly imagine a more terrifying force to fight. The only things i see stopping us are super plagues, starvation, arch mages, a unification of kingdoms against us or some unforeseen calamity.
>>
Aw damn, I missed it...

Perhaps it would be better if op started later in the day, when people have more free time. That would be better, yes-yes. But next game is not till wednesday of next week.
>>
>>26179191
Unfortunately. I'm actually still hoping that he will hop on see that some people are here and start it up again.
>>
>>26179217
This one is willing to start a skaven quest. Will be oneshot, or maybe will start up whenever a troll-quest ends. Will depend on how tired/busy/bored this one is.

Will prepare a post now. We will be skaven, yes-yes. We will be clever, yes-yes.

I like the sound of a Skaven quest! I'll play.
