"Rose, any chance at a shot on the run?" You say, wracking your brain for a way to take that StuG down without getting taken down yourself. You swing the periscope around to the woods on the other side of the road, watching for the first signs of Miho's inevitable flanking attack. If she does come through those woods, even if you get a shot off and even if that shot hits, they're gonna get at least a hit on you in return.

You are the commander of the M26E1 Pershing Heavy Tank "Black Jack" and this might be a bit of a tight spot.

"Negative- they've got too much cover and I don't have enough time to line up a proper shot." Rose says, voice even. "Maybe if I could get enough time for a ranging shot first, but not coldbore." She was perhaps one of the best gunners in the world, but a coldbore shout on a low-profile, hulled down target was a miracle shot even for her.

You're an aggressive commander- you want to fight and you hate running away. Miho knows this almost better than you do- she's counting on you being aggressive, going for the kill and leaving yourself open. You need to stop thinking like yourself- you need to stop being predictable. Staring back out the periscope you see that the slop of the terrain means that you can pull back as far as you want and the StuG'll never see it happening.

And if the StuG doesn't see it happening, Miho won't know it's happening, which gives you a lot of tactical leeway.

"Richard..." You start with a grin. "I need you to pull us backwards, slowly and quietly." You keep your voice low and even. You think you've got the beginnings of a plan coming together. You love it when a plan comes together.

"Good hull down position, good defilade on the edge of the forest." Miho's showing these girls a good lesson in using terrain to stop the enemy in their tracks and keep them pinned, but it was time to give them a show in how to use the enemy's use of terrain against them.

The forest would cover their attack, but unless they gambled it all on you coming up this route they'd have to move a distance through the thick forest- that's why the StuG was there, not to defeat you but to keep you pinned and immobile- she expected you to either getting to a sniping match and lose, or get into a sniping match and be delayed long enough for her tanks to get through the forest.

But now you had a hull down position on them- and when the first tank (The Panzer 38(t)) emerges from the forest it's clear that they have no clue what's about to happen.

That's what they want, stupid! Any leader even down to a SECTION level knows in combat you WILL have to send people to die to do the job you need to get done, whether it's rigging that bridge to blow, assaulting that trench, or clearing that room.

Retain the initiative, assume the 38(t) was bait, and force them to make a bad move.

You've got a kill and you're not in a position where they can easily knock you out in return- let's keep it that way! "Richard, pull us back. Keep us low on this side of the road until we're out of sight again." You keep the turret sighted halfway between the StuG's position and Miho's forest, ready to swing either way to engage targets.

Meanwhile, Richard has reversed back away from the road before turning to head down into the small gulley that follows it along the road. You keep a sharp eye on the edge of the forest, waiting for Miho's tanks to burst out into the open, firing as they go. But it doesn't happen- Miho's either retreated backwards or is attempting to bait you out into the open- neither is going to work.

You're able to get much better speed offroad than their tanks can get and pretty soon you've put enough distance between you (if they were following) that you direct Richard back onto the road. You still need a new angle to come at them.

Right now you've got the tactical advantage- the inertia of battle was with you, you just had to move quickly enough to capitalize on your victories. You get up into the cupola and check Black Jack's rear arc- You hadn't seen the I-Go since Oldtown, and she'd used it to shadow you before.

Richard turns off the mountain road, cutting across the fields at the edge of the forest towards the access road that went up the center of the forest- the same road that eventually led to the bridge from that first practice match up near the mountains. "Alright, take us down a notch- we need to be sneaky. Hand me the map..."

You've actually got a few points along this road Miho might be drawn to...

When you build a deck you have several options.You can go with a specific nation only which lets have more cards of units of that specific nation and opens up use of prototype units which are nation specific units that cannot be used in a mixed deck. Or you could go mixed which lets you choose from any Nato/Pact nation. There are Category A/B/C which limits your choice based on time. Cat A is 1986 (all units available), Cat B which is 1980 and earlier. And finally is Cat C which is 1975 and earlier. Then there are even deck specializations like armored, air assault, mech, etc etc. One caveat though; you no longer choose unit lines like in WEE. Instead you choose specific units but can choose more than once. Check out the Wargames thread on /vg/ if you are interested.

It's honestly not that complicated.

There are basically three types of restrictions
>Nation, which give you more points to build a deck with if you choose to restrict it to just one nation (devs have hinted they're considering multi-nation restrictions, like "Scandinavia")
and
>Type, such as Armored, Mechanized, Marine etc, that lock out incompatible units but give XP bonuses and other things
and

It just occurred to me, now that Richard knows about our "date" with Yukari there's pretty much no way Saori won't know by the end of the day. At that point we're all but guaranteed to have the entire club knowing about it in a few hours.

Miho wants to take you out, but her secondary goal is that she wants to stay hidden- she's down to just two the StuG and the Chi-Ha so she's going to be much more careful now- she'll probably attempt to go to ground, which means getting to the hills.

Taking the roads would be a mistake- she'd make better time but she'd be far more vulnerable. There's a good-sized creekbed that runs through the forest though, eventually emptying out into the river near the hills at the academy carrier's aft. "Right, Richard, see the creek?"

"Yeah, we're going to be crossing it pretty soon." The road actually dips down into the creek itself, before the creek curves aft to head for the river.

"Turn down into it-" You say. "Miho needs a low-road that she can travel over to get up in the hills. That creek's the only way she could possibly cross this road without being seen."

Richard drove hard to get this far this fast- as thick as those woods are she certainly couldn't beat his travel speed even with a shorter path. The only thing left to do now is wait and try not to screw this up...
