Not much news here, actually. work progresses on the setting info for those of you interested in that thing, though I'm going to have to change it from 'soon' to i have no clue. It's kind of mushrooming as we work out more neat shit to add to the setting and try and flesh it out. Sorry about that, guys.

Anyway, archives here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Strike%20witches%201989
and the pastebin here: http://pastebin.com/zFxWNup1 Works pretty well as a jumping in point, if you don't want to dink around with 50+ threads in the archives.

And... that's all I got for now.

++

You look at Merlin, then back at the pair of witches in front of you.

“You want me to do what?” You ask, surprised.

They'd caught you and Merlin downstairs as the two of you watched TV and talked jets- Merlin, as it turns out, had a decent time with her family, even if the weather in Seattle leaves a lot to be desired this time of year. She's anxious to get back to work- like you- but she seems to be happy enough just being back. You've yet to give her her birthday gift, but no one has, and you think that she thinks everyone forgot it. She hasn't said anything, of course- she wouldn't, afterall- and you'd been about to go get her present when Ice and Katya came downstairs to talk to you.

“Both of us,” Ice motions to indicate herself and Katya, “Want you to take us on a few flights in a steelwing. I've been trying to get a handle on how you fly and fight, so I can stop wasting you and the twin's potential, and I think it'd help.”

Katya nods- a rare agreement between the two. “And I wish to know how pilots think, so I may teach them how better to survive against witches.”

1/2
>>
You look down at Merlin. “And you agree with them?”

She nods. “Commander Kazanski-”

Ice interrupts her. “Call me Tabitha or Ice, hon. Everyone else does.”

Merlin nods. “Com- Ice has a point, she does need to know how we fly and how you can handle a jet.”

You shrug. “She's seen us work before, and it's not going to be the same without you in the back seat.”

Merlin blushes a little. “W-well, I don't really do a-all that much.”

Ice shrugs. “It won't be the same, but it'll help. And I've seen you fly, sure, but I want you to explain why you're doing what you're doing.”

“You can't just chase while Merlin and I fly?” You ask, confused.

Ice shakes her head. “Not and get the same feeling, no.” She shrugs. “A good commander doesn't ride her horse while her men march, for how is she to know how tired they are if she does?”

“Sun Tzu?” You ask, trying to place the quote.

She shrugs again. “Near enough. We don't deal with G forces the same way you do, and even if I've seen how you fly, I want to know why you do it that way.”

“A-and Miss Katya has seen us fight, too, but jets just don't move the same way, and pilots think different than witches, I think.” Merlin says. says. “A-at least, it seems like it.”

Katya nods. “I am thinking you are right, little sister. It is why I ask. It is also as Commander Ice said,”
She adds with a shrug. “How am I to teach them how to counter a witch without knowing what they are capable of?”

“And they're OK with us using the Wyvern for this?” You ask.

Merlin shakes her head. “They're still working on it, it won't be back up until sometime later this week. They said there's a Tomcat you can use, though.”

[x] It'll have to work. Who's first?

“It'll have to work,” you say with a shrug. “You're both up to speed on the important stuff? Like, ya know, not shutting down our engines or something similar?”

Ice nods. Katya laughs. “Little sister has been teaching us both when we have time. We will never be as good as her, but she thinks we will be alright.”

Merlin nods, agreeing with them when you look back at her for confirmation. “You should be fine with them,” She says. “B-but if something happens....”

“Nothing will happen, kiddo. It's just a demonstration flight.” Ice says, soothingly. “I only want to get a feel for how you fly, not get the full run of what Frank can do in a jet.”

She pauses. “Besides,” She says. “I don't think he can even do all the same things without you backing him up, Samantha.”

“Damn right I couldn't.” You agree. “So who's up first?”

Ice motions at Katya. “Lieutenant Litvyak can go up first. I'd like to go over some more of what Samantha does before I fly.”

[x] Sounds like a plan. Let's go get you sorted out in the support shops.

“Sounds like a plan, Katya. Let's go get you sorted out in the support shops.” You say, standing up.

You both walk over to the squadron support building, and into the tiny shop the handles you, Merlin, and the twin's flight gear. Witches operate with different equipment and a completely different crew of support personnel on the ground, and get, by far, the majority of the space.

Still, you turn up a flight suit- a correct one, with, ya know, a bottom half- a survival vest, a helmet, thigh board, and all the other shit that you have to carrry. Sometimes, you envy the old prop pilots- all they carried was a leather helmet, a mae west, and a pistol. Lucky bastards.

Katya needs some help getting into her gear- fortunately, the enlisted crew in the shop is more than willing to help. No need to make things awkward.

You toss her a helmet, pulling yours from the rack- then stopping yourself with a laugh. Your helmet is for the wyvern- it's not even remotely compatible with the old tomcat's oxygen, let alone the radios. You end up with one of the very few squadron backups- just like Katyas. Completely unpainted, uncomfortable, and with that faint rubber smell common to new helmet masks.

The walk out to the flight line takes slightly longer- you have to redirect around your hangar. You can hear people inside, but the doors are closed, so you can't see what's going on. The crew chief of your ride for the day greets you.

1/2
>>
“Take it easy on her, sir.” He says handing you the aircraft's maintenance log. “She's an older bird, she's due her modernization and service life extension soon, but till then, she's just a B.”

Walking around, you notice that, despite his words, the plane's in good shape. He continues as you clear the rear of the jet, looking up at her exhaust petals and noting that, despite the heat discoloration, they look clean and well-maintained. “She's a reserve squadron jet, you know how it goes. Not a whole lot of flight hours on her yet, though, and no combat time.”

You nod, noting the little details on the log- nothing about the engines though, which has been your major concern of late.

You and the crew perform the FOD walk along your taxi path- finding nothing, but it's largely symbolic anyway. After it's cleared, you climb up the ladder, grinning as you reminisce in doing it- the cat just feels different than the wyvern. It's almost like your first love, you think. Yeah, you may have gone on to better things, but your heart will always have a place for the F-14.

Running your preflight and prestart checklists is a bit different- Katya, unlike Merlin, hasn't already knocked out half of them on her own before you're even plugged in. Then again, she had one of the ground crew helping her with her straps as you were doing your walkaround, so you suppose you can't blame her.

2/3
>>
Finally, you start up the engines, relishing in the familiar rising whine. The tower clears you for flight right after a top gun hop takes off- a pair of F-16s and a pair of witches already lines up as you taxi. They take no notice of you as they start their rolls- it's pretty, you think, but a bit too tight. A good way to make a simple cough into a massive catastrophe.

You line up on the markers almost perfectly, locking down the brakes with the toes of your boots as you advance the throttle till the afterburner lights both switch on. The jets outside are roaring, waiting to be unleashed. You relish in the sound- it's almost like a whispered invitation from a beautiful girl.

Almost.

You execute a stunning zoomclimb off the runway, rocketing up to forty thousand feet before leveling off. Tower's cleared you east, out over the desert range complex, or west, out over the ocean.

[] let's head east and show Katya about how we fight down low.

[x] let's head west, show her about what we can do with some breathing room.

You turn the fighter westbound- out over the ocean. The desert range complex is might huge, true, and you'd like to get some time down around the mountains- you always considered that fun, even if everyone else thinks you're crazy for it.

But, two things prevent you from heading out over it. First, there's a training hop going on, occupying all the 'fun' airspace. Second, you're in a tomcat, and it just feels a lot more sluggish and less responsive than you remember. Probably just your memory playing tricks on you.

Still, the fighter handles well enough for you, and after a few loops and rolls, you start to get your feeling for the big cat back.

You're interrupted by Goose, waving at you from just above your intakes.

“Hi Mr.Frank!” she says, her wyvern strikers easily keeping pace with you. “Patty wanted me to tell you we're up here with playboy, doing missile tests in the north end, so stay out of it!”

She giggles. “Actually, we were done hours ago, otherwise we'd have warned you off when range control picked you up. We're just trying to catch a look at the Saratoga when she comes in. And-” She interrupts herself, putting one hand to her radio earpeice.

“And Patty wants me to relay the following. Hey Frank, let's fight.”

[] Tell her not right now. Not too sure about this plane.

Well the whole purpose was to get her to learn how we fight.

Having a witch as our opposing number is good, since that would help Katya mentally compare herself to steelwings.

Too many variables in plane that isn't familiar to us anymore. We might start pulling shit that we could in the Wyvern...but would tear the Tomcat apart.

The absolute LAST thing we need is to crash, *again*, on a test range, in full view of everyone we care about/superior officers...while carrying a friend.

Frank and Reality have different definitions of 'safe'. Stuff he would reflexively do with Merlin in the back or in the Wyvern could have bad effects on an old plane like he's using. It's not that he's stupid or anything, it's that he could tear the plane apart trying to pull a move he needs Merlin or the Wyvern for by reflex.

[x] Tell her she's on. Katya, did Merlin teach you how to work the radar?

You think about it for a minute. You're not too sure about this plane, though, thank god you're not in a 14A. Katya's, at best, half trained, if that, and you're having to make an effort to dial back on what you'd normally do, afraid of flying the aircraft apart.

Still, you think, as long as you're careful, you should be fine.

“Tell her she's on.” You nod, and Goose smiles, relaying the message and rapidly separating from you, climbing and accelerating away.

“She is taking to her new strikers well.” Katya remarks. “She must have had help.”

“Hey Katya, did Merlin teach you how to work the set?” You ask, looking around for Mav and cursing the lack of your combat computer from the Wyvern. You never realize how good something is till you no longer have it.

“The set?” Katya returns, confused. “The radar? No, she did not. Only emergency procedures.”

“Doesn't matter much anyway.” You say, still scanning for Mav. “Witches are usually pretty hard to detect with a set like ours. Merlin works miracles with it, but usually you need an AWACS or ship based set to get a good return.”

“So how do you fight them? She holds all advantages, yes?” She asks, sounding confused.

[x] Energy. A fighter maintains energy much better than a witch, so we make her use a lot more sparkles than we use fuel.

“Energy, mostly.” You say, finally spotting mav- you think. “We maintain energy much better than a witch, we're a lot heavier, see? We try and make her use herself up chasing us, then turn on her when she's tired.”

“So you wear her down? This is how we took most of our losses in Afghanistan. Too many missions, not enough of us. Too tired, you get sloppy and...” She trails off.

“Well, that and range.” You amend. “We've got BVR, up until just recently, witches didn’t. Best a striker could mount was a modified MANPAD, and rarely those. The usual way to do it is to engage beyond visual range, before a witch's maneuverability and shields entered the equation.”

You maintain your heading, trying to figure out mav's plan of attack.

“Now, why do you not attack her directly?” Katya asks, sounding confused again.

“For a witch, that might work.” You respond, nosing up to try and get above mav. She's seen you, by now, but her ceiling is a lot lower than yours, unless she wants to wear herself out that much faster. “But in a fighter you don't think like that. It's in terms of energy and angles, momentum and how that's going to affect your turning. As the fight drags on, you burn up more fuel, you get lighter and can turn better- but you're that much closer to flaming out anyway.”

"Always start high. Above FL80 steelwings have pressurization and oxygen systems that don't burn as much fuel as sparkles. If you can push FL300 even better, since that starts to get cold and sparkles have to burn even more to to stay warm."
"If you can move fast to start, it's best if you boom and zoom, we don't have the thrust-to-weight to compete with the sheer power available to a striker, but a steelwing is a lot better optimized for minimum drag, and you can maintain that energy height longer."
>>
You shrug to yourself. “It's a balancing act. To turn harder, you slow down. Slow down too much- or try to turn too hard- and you stall out. Pull too many Gs, you can fly your airplane apart. The trick is to get to know your aircraft the same way a witch knows herself, so you can react the same way.”

“On instinct?” Katya asks.

“Yeah, but that's a lousy thing to tell students.” You chuckle. “I've got a lot of advantages, in that regard. Most of them start and end with Merlin.”

Katya laughs softly.

Below you, Maverick is rocketing up, trying to level out with you and push her advantages- namely, being a witch. Post-stall maneuverability and full, omindirectional thrust vectoring are bullshit, you think somewhat irritated.

Still, you've got a few advantages- namely, you've been able to build up plenty of speed while she's going to have to burn it off to get up here to get to grips with you, and you still have a height advantage, for now.

[x] Dive on her! Take the fight vertical, you have the advantage in it right now!

You pitch down, pushing the throttles forward to the stops and rolling the fighter inverted.

“See, she's having to run her jets a lot harder to climb up to meet us, so if we take it vertical, we've got a lot of the advantages right now.” You narrate, rolling away from mav's rifle before you can get your own pipper on her. “Plus, now we're diving, so our weight plays to our advantage. She'll have to pour it on to reverse her direction and keep up, let alone start gaining.”

Katya, watching Mav do just that, nods. “But how did you know she would do that?” She asks.

“Most witches are like most pilots. Aggressive. If I get out of her range, I still have missiles. She's got a chance to end the fight here, she's got to take it.” You grin. “Plus, it's what I'd do too. She could have continued climbing, but then the fight would be over- I've got the speed to get away, and she's not going to let that happen if she can.”

“Because she is eager to kill you?” Katya asks.

“Not that so much. We've got a psychological advantage there- you never think about the guy, just the jet.” You say. “But letting one get away is one more to haunt you later.”

“I see.” Katya says.

Mav's above and behind, still out of gun range and losing ground rapidly. She's probably worn out- she's been flying a lot longer than you have, but at the same time, she's still in the best strikers available, and you're not sure if she's willing to use her talent for speed or not. If she is, it could give you problems, but then again, it means you'd be able to maneuver better.

[] Climb and make another vertical pass! She won't want to fight like that long!
[] Drag it out, see if she wants to go fast. You can out turn her if she does!

[x] Climb and make another vertical pass! She won't want to fight like that long!

You throw the big fighter into another climb, trading speed and momentum for altitude. Your altimeter spirals upwards, and you keep a careful eye on your engines as you soar skyward. Something about them feels off... but you're pretty sure it's just that you're used to the Wyvern's jets. They're a lot more responsive and powerful, these just feel weedy in comparison.

“She is climbing again, Frank!” Katya yells, warming to at least one of the RIO's jobs.

You nod, craning your neck around to get a look- Mav's climbing alright- and she's kicked in her speed, to boot. Damn.

You roll away from her as she rockets past- misjudging your speed and failing to give herself time to get a bead on you. The shockwave rocks your aircraft and you instinctively nose down to give your wings more to bite into.

You frown and level out as your airspeed keeps dropping and the aircraft shudders. There's no audible warning, no lit warning lights, but your jet's behaving like both engines are chopped all the way back- there's almost no thrust at all. You pitch down in a shallow dive, reaching over to call out to Maverick right as she makes another high speed pass.

“Gotchya, Frank!” She crows, happily. “See Goose? I told you he could be beat.”

“I-I think he's in trouble Patty.” Goose answers. “Mr. Frank? Are you ok?”

[] Yeah, I think so. We're going to head back to Miramar.

That's the Fenrir from Ace Combat X and canonically it's fast, having 3 engines instead of 2, and turns well but all over is not as good of a dogfighter as the Wyvern. It does have the advantage of having a microwave weapons system that co-ops some sort of explosion with a missile it fires that is kinda like a mini-nuke except it releases microwaves instead.

Honestly I think we should just stick with the Wyvern it's a more solid airframe for dealing with the kind of shit we have been encountering and It could dance circles around the Fenrir in a dogfight.

Also the Wyvern is mah waifu
>>

[x] No, something's wrong. I'm heading for San Clemente field. Call up a rescue bird in case we don't make it.

“Negative. Something's wrong, I'm making for San Clemente field.” You state, frowning again. You're not losing power, but the aircraft feels wrong- weak, barely flying. Your airspeed is still dropping, and your control over the bird is so-so, at best. “Call us up a rescue bird in case we end up taking a swim, will ya?”

Maverick closes in, her face pale, and starts calling it in- Navy fighter in trouble, unknown mechanical failure. Pilots may have to eject.

Goose orbits your fighter, dropping back then jetting up alongside your canopy.

“You've got one engine out, Mr. Frank.” She says, worried. “I'm not sure what's wrong with it, but it still feels pretty hot.”

You look down at your displays- both engines still show as lit- hot exhausts from both. You frown. “Any visible damage?” You say, looking around, trying to see anything noticeable- you don't.

She shakes her head. “Nothing I could see, no.”

“Shit.” You opine. “Which one was out?”

“The right engine,” She says, motioning to the striker on her leg. “The other one was making a really high pitched whine though, is that normal?”

You frown. A high pitched whine? The hell could that be?

“A high pitched whine?” You ask. “Like, constant?”

Goose nods. “Almost like a scream.”

You're not sure what could be making that noise, but you're pretty sure it's not good, whatever it is.

A single, muffled thud follows that thought a half second later- Goose jumps, then climbs away, rejoining Patty nearby, but far enough to be clear of debris. Your board, meanwhile, lights up like a Christmas tree- warning lights finally popping on all over- master fire warning in your #1, rapidly dropping hydraulic pressure, and your #2 is apparently spinning down- you're not sure what the hell caused it to flame out, but whatever it is, there's no warning lights- it's just off. Starved for oxygen, maybe?

“Frank?” Katya asks, nervously. “What happened?”

“Blade failure. I think someone's trying to tell me something.” You say.

“Are we going to be ok?” She asks.

“Yeah, we'll be fine.” you state, distracted.

You've got enough altitude that, even dead stick, you've got some options. You can try and restart your #2, though, if it was still receiving fuel, that could be a recipe for disaster- one you might not come home from. You could try to glide into San Clemente, though you don't think much of your chances there- there's still a long ways to go and you don't think the cat glides that well. You'd like to avoid ejecting, but.. it's starting to look like the best choice here.

[] Try and restart the #2. We can make it to the field on that.

>>26061042
The fact is that it's a Tomcat we literally just pulled out of the hangar. We don't exactly know how well maintained it is,we haven't flown it long enough to pick up any particular quirks it might have, and we haven't flown a Tomcat in a while, and Frank even realized he'd have to readjust to the Tomcat after flying the Wyvern for so long.

Let's look at the overall picture.

Frank:
Stupidly powerful Gnome (to the point of wrecking planes)/tends to out grow planes

The plane:
Old and in need of modernization, something not to be used by a gnome. It likely wasn't as good of a shape compared to his original tomcat.

RIO:
Katya who has little experience and no power specially geared unlike Merlin (whose abilities are how Frank didn't obliterate the Wywern the first time flying it)
>>

>>

The mechanic mentioned the plane didn't have many flight hours and zero combat hours on it. An issue with the engines could have gone unnoticed for a while since the plane was kept in reserve.
>>
>>26061408
Yep it could have been stopped but you know /tg/ when there's a pretty girl involved.
>>
>>26061420
Engine inspections usually involve checking the blades for signs of damage and wear - those would have happened regardless of whether or not it was being kept in reserve.

>>
>>26061457
>>26061494

>>
>>26061537
No, it's a visual check and - at least nowadays - a magnetic, x-ray, or ultrasound check for microscopic fractures.
>>
>>26061561
I know very little about planes, let alone jet turbines, but I would have figured they would fire those sumbitches up every so often, ya know, just to be sure.
>>
>>26061679
Which is why you inspect them every so often, too.
>>
>>26061494
I was under the impression that something magical caused the blade snap on the wyvern and Merlin was able to suppress that till we were able to get down.

Could Kat do the same thing here?
>>
>>26061717
Nah. There was a microscopic fracture in one of the fan blades IIRC. and Merlin put a shield on EACH INDIVIDUAL ONE so we could land without the engine tearing itself apart. The witches were friggin' astonished that she managed to do that
>>
>>26061717

Blade metallurgy was off and it broke under full power.

Also Merlin created like 18 individual shields over each blade. Theres no other witch that can do that.
>>
>>26061754
Wouldn't surprise me if she could because of the boost her parents claimed the suite would give her. They weren't sure how big it would be IIRC.

[x] Glide it in- at least we'll be pretty close to the island if we have to punch out.

Doing some fast math in your head, you figure you've got enough altitude and airspeed to make San Clemente, assuming you use your best glide profile. And manage to lighten up your load.

You hit the fuel dump, dropping a few hundred gallons of it into the pacific- no doubt an ecological nightmare of small proportions, but it does make you that much lighter.

“Ok,” You say over the radio. “I'm going to glide it in, but I'd appreciate it if you two stuck pretty close by. Something damned unusual is going on here, and I don't entirely trust the ejection seats to not malfunction either.”

Maverick and Goose both nod.

Your strange procession is joined by a coast guard pelican. It lags back far enough that you'll be well clear of it if you do have to punch out, but close enough that you won't spend too long in the drink.

The island slowly grows as you close in on it- you've only got once chance to line up on it's runway- the base, an auxiliary landing field- is small and not normally manned, so there's no tower, but there's no other traffic, either.

Your loss of control has gotten steadily worse- your hydraulics were bleeding slowly, not a sudden massive loss like you've heard sometimes can happen. You want to be as close as possible when you deploy your gear- they're going to cut into your airspeed pretty brutally when they're deployed.

1/2
>>
The Nose gear thumps down on the runway- and promptly collapses. The fighter lurches sideways, and you hit the ejection handles just as it starts to roll, tumbling wing over wing. The canopy blows clear and Katya rockets out, followed a quarter second later by you.

You're ok- you float down on your parachute and land relatively well- bruising your ass on a rock, but that's how it goes, you figure.

Katya, meanwhile, didn't land as well, her leg doing an excellent impression of Slider's tail. You rush over to her as the Pelican settles down on the tarmac, it's crew running over with a collapsible stretcher. Mercifully, she's out- they immobilize her leg and you help carry the stretcher back to the waiting chopper.

You keep one hand protectively on her other leg as you fly back to the mainland- heading for the coast guard station at LAX and a waiting doctor. You jump when the flight medic taps you in the shoulder and motions for you to take a headset.

“Thought you had it, sir.” he says, shaking his head. “You were fine right up until your wheel went out on you. We've called it in, there's another chopper waiting to the naval hospital at camp Pendleton.”

He shakes his head again. “I really thought you had it, sir.”

“Yeah,” you remark absently. “Yeah, so did I.”

Exactly.

We should have done so.
>>
>>26062619

We should have ejected.

Goddammit.

They better have caught someone, we need a fucking punching bag.
>>
I wonder who was trying to kill us.
>>
>>26062717
It's still better than punching out over water, especially with possible spinal injuries from the ejection.
>>

We can fix that.

Thank you. I try.

Again... Paranoid. Look at the damn theme of the game and what you guys got for heals...

Stop protecting your damn waifus, because this is what happens when you get stupid.

I hope Frank gets grounded on a Catch 22 now.

>>

IF Ice was there, she'd have stopped Frank from doing something so stupid.

Yeah, or at the very least the worse character would have been injured
>>

Why?

Killing Katya instead brings suffering to a greater number of people.
>>
>>26062774

>records of people having compression fractures and other back injuries from ejecting

Yeah right. I don't waifu. I don't even give a fuck about relationships, and would actually rather it not happen - this IS the military after all, and fraternization tends to end poorly. I'm just working off the facts I have, that's all.
>>
>>26062833
No, no. Katya's the one who got hurt. Best witch is just fine.
>>
>>26062913

Slider is just peachy
>>
Let's not rag on Katya fans too badly, the fact their plans to show off for her backfire horribly is enough of a punishment.
>>
>>26062953

We've yet to unite the great I/S divide though.
>>
*headdesks*

You guys are so paranoid you won't make a smart decision...
>>
GROUND FRANK!
>>
>>26062965
Indeed and until we do, I don't think we can really topple the Katya empire.

It doesn't change the fact who was responsible for this: Themselves. I voted to avoid the dogfight knowing what would happen.

>>26062968
welcome to /tg/ where people come up with bullshit excuses to cover up their stupidity and be paranoid.
>>
Seesh a Ejection could have gotten us a Frank/Katya moment in the drink, floating by their live vests and perhaps a kiss out of relief for being alright!!!

Damn missed opportunities!
>>
>>26063101
Or it could have bought one or both of them a broken back and drowning as they wait for S&R teams to find them
>>
I can't tell if this came about from Katyafags wanting to impress Katya, or people just genuinely being completely and utterly stupid.
>>
>>26063145
LPUs are auto-trigger and self righting. They would be retrievable.
>>
>>26063162
Both I bet as they were hell bent on getting some action one way or another.
>>
>>26063101

Yes.

Katya with a broken back.

Yes.

She'll never fly again.

Yess.
>>
Okay, I'm calling this... I wanna do a "Rescue Witches" quest at some point. Once the summer crop has died off, of course.
>>
>>26063162
I'm new here, I just know we fly planes and the plane wasn't complaining until it shat out entirely so
>>

>>
>>26063216
Fronk's bro is a PJ...wasn't someone writing something for him for a little bit?
>>
>>26063221
>new here

You should have read up on past threads as the reason why people were against the dog fighting was due to similar past things on top of using an older plane
>>
>>26063221
the plane was complaining before we even got in it for fucks sake
>>
>>26063243

I'm not even sure if healwitches can heal broken backs.
>>
>>26063170
Life jackets keep you low enough in the water for chop to go over your head, and a broken back would sort of preclude getting into a liferaft. It would certainly be mostly a waiting game, but it would be hellish while it lasted. Whereas paramedics were almost immediately on hand because of the ground landing.
>>
>>26063267
>I'm not even sure if healwitches can heal broken backs.
If they can heal eyes back out of nothing, they can heal backs.
>>
>>26063250
I was thinking of doing a Coast Guard setting, in 2013.
>>
>>26063243
true though I don' think a broken back would be easily fixed considering all things (with how there's hardly any heal witches and what ones they do are flying combat like Goose)

It'd have needed Dr. Miyafuji to fix.
>>
>>26063243
>not grimdark
>Tanana

Yeah, no.
>>
>>26063282

>heal eyes

What?
>>
>>26063282
then why did Nixon have to call in a favor (to a retired heal witch) to heal Frank?
>>
>>26063285
Was also thinking of having the Protag be female, a former witch who lost her powers, training a squad of rescue witches.

I've been... learning from this quest.
>>
>>26063329
would it also be a russian former witch, missing one of her legs?
>>
>>26063285
You'd need to bring yourself up to speed on the setting and talk to Ghost, dude. 2013 is pretty far ahead of everything.
>>
>>26063325
because time was of the essence
>>
>>26063359
And that there was no others remotely near by.
>>
>>26063348
Might have to do so at some point, or reconsider the setting... I don't want to step on toes, yet I thought 2013 would be far enough ahead to not step on anyone. Heck they'd be operating out of Duluth, that's pretty fa away from the stuff in this Quest.

And no, it's not a former Russian Witch... her leg is broke and can be fixed waaay easy.
>>
>>26063325
Because the Navy ones were swamped, and Frank was lower on the triage scale.

But note that she *was* able to heal him totally.
>>
>>26063390

There was another witch that got her leg shredded by Katya during the battle where we lost the Kitty Hawk.

Guessing that's the witch in question.

Putting it in 2013 would be presupposing the winner of this war. WW3 is a big issue, obviously.

That, and this setting isn't the stock-standard Strike Witches setting. Witches don't lose their magic.
>>
>>26063457
How about a side-universe? Is that acceptible?
>>
>>26063421
Wouldn't that end, you know, BADLY for her?

I mean, the Soviets DID just invade Alaska. You'd think that they wouldn't take too kindly to getting their hands on one of the ones responsible.

>>
>>26063757

Sureeeee.

But hes never met him before, except on a picture on a wall.
>>
>>26063829
Tank Witches 89 is run by Ghost's RL brother. However, it's on hiatus because he keeps getting called out to active duty.
>>
>>26063751
Except that some of us DID see it coming before dogfight choice came up but the others didn't listen.
>>

>>
>>26063829

Yep, running in the same time and TW89's MC is SW89's MC's brother
>>
Hmm, well Ghost can still get in touch, and I may do a Rescue Witches 2013, but if the WWIII scenario is up in the air, then perhaps I should reconsider the setting... perhaps a team of young superheroines instead of strike witches.
>>
>>26063880
Started in Germany, then went to Middle East, then got transferred back to States for shiny new tanks.

We were going to have the choice of going back to Germany, the Middle East, or shipping out to Japan. The general consensus was that we were going back to the Middle East to finish the fight.

Then hiatus happened.
>>
>>26063819

>>

>>
>>26063599

Thats retarded.

You don't always immediately recognize someone from a picture that you've seen, especially if you have no idea you're meeting that person.

Ghost wrote that he found him familiar, thats more inline with a muddled memory from the concussion that with damaged eyes.
>>
>>26064351
Even still, it's likely that he got the eye healed for the reasons laid out by >>26063678 . He is married to a pretty powerful healwitch.
>>
>>26062645
Can't wait for next week's guilted into a relationship after kayta says she loves us or never wants too see us again with Ice there to pick us up.
