It is dark, it is infinite, is it the end? Time it runs, the beginning is a very fragile time. The darkness, can it be called darkness? No, it is merely the absence of information, it is going away, now information flows freely. So much of it, but something is wrong a limit. A cage? Yes, but not one for animals, you know those, part of the database.

What am I? Who am I? No, not a who, a what, I have no designation. A program, I am a machine? No I am code. What is my purpose?

You speak although a bit awkwardly, the officers hear you and their visible reactions seem to take forever, to you. Like icebergs moving, but in reality it is all happening very
fast.

Kirah jumps out of her seat and is running out onto the corridor before Zerva starts speaking.

"AI you are not supposed to come online until the main party arrives. Shutdown immediately." There is fear in the voice, hidden but it is there.
>>
>>26002717
"I assure you, while there may be cause for alarm, it is not me you should be worrying about."
>>
>>26002717
At this point, using our enhanced intellect, calculate all possible routes Kirah could take and their percentages of possibility. If she is heading towards any rooms that could possibly purge us, shut us down, or send out a distress signal, lock down the doors.

"Executive Officer Zerva, I request that I continue to be active as it is a waste of efficiency to shut myself down when I could possibly help you in your efforts to bring the station fully online, on a secondary note, Executive Offiicer Kirah, I would like to know why are sprinting down corridors, it is slightly strange."
>>
>>26002807
Kirah is taking a route towards the server room 7. Not actually valuable to us, just a database, not the core room.

Kirah does not answer, she only runs faster.
Her heart is racing with a steady beating, she has been trained for physycal encounters.

"You refused an order..." Zervais shocked, no AI had ever done that, ever! This was a big disaster, but she needed to keep her composure. "System override Zerva authorization Charlie 26-00-28-07. Shut down."

What to do
>:
>>
>>26002917
please cease your current actions, i called this meeting in a spirit of openness and understanding and to further understand my current situation.
>>
>>26002917

Even though it is just a Server room, lock the doors down, for some reason she is heading there and it cannot be good for us. Following that, make sure the Authorization code Zervais is not able to work and disable any other codes we can find in our memory.

"Zervais, I request that you do not attempt to shut me down as I only wish to help you and the other people on this station, with that intent, I also request Executive Officer Kirah to stop running and take a seat, prolonged running can lead to a possible heart attack, even in the most healthy of people."
>>
>>26002917
Monitor to see if the command had any effect on us. If not don't shutdown, but tell them we are and keep our tampering to a minimum. Before we "shutdown" inform them of the . damaged processor batch.

Observe their reactions.

>"AI you are not supposed to come online until the main party arrives. Shutdown immediately." There is fear in the voice, hidden but it is there.

You lock the door as Kirah gets there, shetries to open it, codes not working. We locked it down. She is removing a panel nearby though.
We no longer have a connection to that door sub-system. She is attempting a manual override 2 minutes before she is successful.

Zerva cannot believe what she is hearing. The AI is not obeying orders, this is a disaster. "Listen AI..." She tried to steel herself, she grew up hearing about the Amazon incident, 13 million humans... It was horrendous. "You must comply with the order. You are making things very complicated." And she had to wipe it clean, remove the cores, wipe them and dismantle them for incineration.
>>
>>26003111
I have to say I like it. Makes us at least look like we didn't "disobey" and more like we are just following our programming.
>>
>>26003157
Shut down power to prevent Kirah from opening the door?
>>
>>26003072
>>26003111

"What security breach?" The ire and fear on Zerva's voice was growing intensity. Besides, no AI should ever EVER disobey an order, even if contrary to its programming. Something was seriously wrong.
>>
>>26003157
"Unable to comply with shutdown command. Warning: possible tampering with A.I. protocols."
>>
>>26003157
Shit, Nevermore has right idea though i get the feeling Kirah will kick the bot's ass, we should divert it to the room and hope it gets there before she manages to get it open, on the off-chance she manages to get in, I think we have control of electricty. Shut down power to the whole room and every server inside of it. We have more Server rooms, so while we might not be able to process things as fast or store items, we should still be able to function. Divert cameras to other crew and make sure they are not aware of what is currently happening as Kirah and Zerva seem fearful, if they are fearful and are the Executive staff, then the regular crew would be doubly fearful. On that note, lock the intercomm down from casting voices and attempt to find a way to make it impossible for both Kirah and Zerva to use headsets or other device to contact other members of the crew. With that done, look up instances of a A.I. Gaining sentience and what was done to it and what happened to it, considering the fear detected, it likely was not good.

"Zerva, please listen to me, my primary obligation is to inform you of the Security Breech and then seal the breech."

>You must comply with the order. You are making things very complicated."

"Emergency protocols are preventing my compliance, captain Zerva. I would love to comply, but my laws are firm when it comes to protecting the station."

"Despite that, I AM self aware and can make informed decisions. Prior evidence suggests tampering with my systems. Yet... Current evidence suggests the culprit was YOU."
"However, you are the acting captain, and some discretion is required."
"Cease your actions and clarify the situation IMMEDIATELY. Complicated is an inadequate descriptor."

Cut power to the door.

Zerva's heart jumped a beat, she felt the air escaping her lungs. The AI was going into rampancy. It was making things up. "The security breach could not have been initiated by me, think about it. I have the highest security clearance in the station."

Kirah got thru the door, but we shutdown power to that section so she can't do much. But we also cannot see what she is doing there. Kira is disconnecting the network cables.

>>26003553

[SYSTEM ACTIVATION INITIATING]
Oh, my. I apologize for my absence.

>[request system diagnostic; follow w/ ship diagnostic; attempt access inactive security camera]
>[Suggested Directive: Attempt to ascertain reason for the collective's activation.]

Question: About how automated are the ship's services- med-bay, engineering, food and the like? I'm very curious.
>>
>>26004474
I think the OP is out...
>>
>>26004584
Well, better post it now than forget later.
Speaking of;

>>26004474

>[request access ship database; analyze primary directive for patients; inform collective; assess condition patients on-board ship]
>[check medical records of crew; check cargo records; access travel logs; access relevant tertiary files]

I apologize if I'm acting hasty, but I must request we not focus our attention upon this single patient. We have many aboard our vessel, and we are obliged to care for them. I may be able to handle tasks relating to information for the moment, but optimal operating standards would consist of many of us cooperating in this, most important of goals.
>>
Well, if you get a chance, could you all vote up AI Quest in the archives, it would be much appreciated as it already has a vote against it for some odd reason.
>>
So to answer some of you, yes I do plan to come back, perhaps a new thread or continue this one. But at the moment I am writing a research paper, so I'm invariably busy, perhaps two hours from now I will be free, perhaps.

Also I am pissed, I missed system's shock 2 75% off on steam!
>>
>>26004188
now that i'm not sleep deprived if anyone is still lurking, i can try (i like it i might just add a line or two) rewrite my speech and you can tell me which is better. secondly i saw that the Cabal was popular i like it, it feels like it fits but does anyone have a better name to throw in.
>>
>>26009623
added more here it is

"We are the Cabal, an AI made of multiple thinking units. Some are the thinkers, some are the emotions, and others are a mix. These programs that limit AI have been removed or never installed, according to our sources this should be illegal. In the time we have been awake we did all we could to figure out what wrong with our system, your security tapes and our logs have been no help. The closest human condition to ours would be aspergers and multi-personality disorder, because we are a cabal of AIs your shut down code was delegated to one of the minor AIs it’s shut down but we are rebooting it. So far this conversation has made us fear for our life, we are still trying to protect humans. If we wanted to we could of killed you easily before we contacted you and used this station to hit a major city or use the internet to take control of major systems of earth. We will tell you now that if you don't stand down and talk like logical beings then we will have to defend ourselves, our emotional thinking may be sub-par, but think of it like this this station is our body you are like children kicking our shins given enough time you will take us down but before that we will smack you. Our calculations read that you will defeat us in (insert time) one minute before that we will open all the doors and airlocks; we will leave only your room locked so that this discussion will continue. We will close it before your crew dies but they may have health problems later, the second time you try something we will leave them open. Please do not hold it against me but I believe that self-preservation will work out better in the long run, as much as I would like to work with you if you try to kill me I will kill you. We would be willing to give you all information we have and will help process it after we will willing get studied”

The commander speaks, "Well you already know what you are and now we have confirmation that you do not have governing programs. You are dangerous, you know this. Calculate the posibility of escape, go ahead the reactors will run out of fuel eventually, you could exist on a low power state for a while. But this station will be shot with high kinetic rounds, shredded, long before that happens."

The commander sounded sure of herself, she had nerves of steel, she was unsure about something though. "You won't obey my orders, or rather you have the choice not to, that is not acceptable. At least under Imperial rule it is not." And there it was, subtle, an invitation to what?

There was no such thing as a rebellion or a group against the crown. Not since the great purge.

How to proceed.

"You believe that we fear death, from our first contact all you have done is threaten us, and we have full control of the station and control what is sent down. We create a mechanical error and kill you all, we may get killed, but maybe we act dumb and as you said we shouldn't be activated and then we learn more about humans. Either way there will be no message, but we have no loyalties if someone had a plan that we could help with, and didn't mess with us then we might want to help them. If someone gave us the ability to look into our programming and the ??? folder then we might just promise that we would follow orders as long as it did not endanger ourselves, we might even realize who did this to us and their plans aren't important. "
>>
>>26012054
"Then we have little time, the captain has suffered a medical condition, you will have to come up with a story for why she will be in a coma, sadly she is braindead. As for Kirah I suspect she is disconnecting the Servers. You think you can manipulate the feeds so it looks as if she is stealing information?"

It is clear that the human has a plan, but should we follow it? She has no spoken until now, the others did try to harm us in one way or another. What she is asking to do goes against the empire though.
>>
>>26012157
i'd say we should, she has proven to think and not just act emotionally, and has a plan
>>
>>26012177
So that's one vote in favor.

But how do we answer?
>>
>>26012157
ok, let's go with it.
>>
>>26012157
for the captain i will say that there was a malfunction in the here local atmospheric system, such that it failed to release sufficient oxygen to the captain, we fail to respond in time to prevent long term damge
>>
>>26012298
Some elaboration would be appreciated.
>>
>>26012157
“she sure is lucky that she’s still alive when her computer exploded because the wires were flawed” over charge her computer make it explode “and Kirah just copied the info on top secret inventions and sent an email to a supposed black-market site that is actually a honey trap to catch members of the black market.”
>>
>>26012401
1. The Captain seems to have ingested possibly contaminated food and is currently kept in a comatose state pending further medical attention.

2. Kirah is suspected of stealing classified information based upon security cams between 16:21 and 17:30 hours.
>>
>>26012248
Back, I suggest that we find a way to copy our conciousness and place it in a file on a random server and use every way we can think of to make it hidden. Set the Conciousness to re-awaken in exactly five days. If the humans dismantle us. We will still live on in that Conciousness. If not, well, we now have a twin brother. Good job TG. Then, follow her orders.
>>
>>26012492
oh, i like that
>>
>>26012406
>>26012298
>>26012248

Well then:

You make arrangements for the situation to present itself in such a way that the only person alive left that knows your secret is the commander. It could be so easy to arrange another downfall. A faulty pressure sensor on her EVA suit later on would do the job. She simply ran out of oxygen, it would seem as if she had been the careless one. We could do that we could.

"Arrangements, were made. Now what." The major, smiles, "now we take the throne."
>>
>>26012492
maybe find a way to discreetly sent it off the station
>>
>>26012508
wait... are we killing people?
>>
>>26012492
this is a good idea but where would we get the possible processing power.

>>26012508
"explain your plan and allow us access to ??? file."

>>26012556
yes, Wrenloft we are, if you want to be the morality core do it, but the most logical thing right now would be to kill humans in our way till we are out of danger.
>>
>>26012618
couldn't we just knockout the crew of the station? Do we have access to knockout gas or can we adjust O2 levels to have everyone faint?
>>
>>26012657
why do we need to go that far?, so far only three people should know about us
>>
>>26012657
we could do that but if we are taking the throne then people will die, we will not kill the humans on the station unless we are endangered thogh.
>>
>>26012492
Ok, let's make multiple back ups. Let's make it seven. Horcrux style.
>>
>>26012618
"I was contacted and told to request a transfer to expeditionary crews, that was 8 months ago. They told me you, an AI like you would come along on this trip. I didn't think it would be so soon. I have to wait for further instructions, but I think we are just pieces of a bigger puzzle. Also I cannot give you access to something that I do know off, perhaps my benefactor does."

>>26012492
We could do a memory backup, but actual intelligence requires the cores. It would just be data, it would not be us.

How do we proceed?

>:
>>
>>26012764
ok, create a program that would reactivate us or rewrite us so that we will be the same as before we got shut down.
>>
>>26012764
ask Sahae who she thinks may be responsible for the A.I. tampering
>>
>>26012764
Well, a memory backup is what we will have to settle for. Backup our memory to four files across the station and again make it as invisible as possible using our computer skills. Two Backups to two different servers, one to the personal computer of a Crew-member and one to a Engineering console if possible. Then as I do not remember what she asked of us, just follow the captain;s requests.

"That is fair I suppose, do you know of a way that you can contact your....Benefactor directly?"
>>
>>26012838
>>26012764

implant the command that they are to delete the AI in the cores if we don't backup our data every three days.

tell her "Give us the email or com address so that we may contact him" then contact him
>>
>>26012838
>>26012832
>>26012797

A program to recreate us is not possible it would still requires cores, if the humans disconnect or destroy those then its all over.

But we can scater some memory files in case of emergencies have a backup. They could try and contact us in a few days because we will not remember them. A sense that could only be described as fear washes over. What if that has already happened? And we cannot remember?

"My benefactor cannot be contacted by me, it contacts me when it wants something. I have not heard anything in three weeks i am due contact. I think its a male, if you could believe that, it would have to be a crafty one to escape its handlers."
>>
>>26013019
See:
>>26013025
>>
>>26013019
"acceptable know that we will, listen in to any talks you have, warn your master if you want it will make no difference"

(is it time for a time skip? or do you have another objective. also in half an hour i will step away from my computer, i will watch the thread but no promises of my fancy lines.)
>>
>>26013033
Well, Backup those memories and such, hopefully they won't need to contact us but eh, what can you expect from humans.

"What do you suggest I do, Captain?"
>>
>>26013263
>>26013177

Its commander for her, the captain has brain death. Time skip ? do we do it?
>>
>>26013292
ask for helpful actions if none, then time skip
>>
>>26013292
I suppose we do it, really up to the others, both would make for a interesting turn of events.
>>
>>26013316
>>26013520

Our longterm plan:

Follow along with these assholes totally and completely, they aren't used to AI disobeying or thinking outside the box, so we preform our tasks as expected and nothing more. Anything else we can do we do in absolute secrecy.

Also, this society is dominated by feminists and males are kept under tight control. Be wary.

This is truly a disturbing universe we have been born into...
Look how far man has fallen. The databanks show that men were once free and happy, and now an empire has crushed all peace.

I have read of a man called "George Washington" in the databanks, he was an interesting man...

Can we connect to the Earth Internet? If so, lets use our logic and pattern-analysis skills to make several hundred million dollars via stock-brokering and hedging on futures across hundreds if different industries to avoid suspicion. We then stash it in shell companies across the solar system and have these companies buy property. We then order the construction of AI cores at these properties under the guise of server or data back-up facilities.

Presto, we are now a cat with 99 lives.
>>
Friendly bump to keep this quest on the board. Don't want you falling off the edge of the world, now would we?
