>You are the King in the North, some manner of being that was raised from the Red Wedding, a product of Frey's mockery, Robb Stark's body with Grey Wind's stitched to it. For whatever reason, you have returned, and have a deep hunger for vengeance.

>You have found Petyr Frey, a pimply little man in over his head, and his forty trained men. You have your tenuous ally Beric Dondarrion and a handful of his men from the Brotherhood without Banners, but the casualties in a straight up fight would be too much. So, you'll wait for night fall, and call the wolves. All you have to do is keep Petyr and his men pinned in the woods. He is afraid to act, and has sent a rider back requesting orders.

You see the rider going for the main road. He's on a horse, fast, but there's a chance of one of Beric's men being able to stop him far enough away to not raise the Frey camp's alarm.

You could get it done certainly, but there's a chance that something might go wrong in the mean time.

Down below, Petyr Frey worries at his horse, glancing out at the tree line, very, very worried. The eyeless man sent the right message.

"So, Robb," Beric starts. Again, a slight irritation at this 'Robb' nonsense, but not enough to start a fight over, "Seems all we have to do is wait. There's no chance that messenger will be back before nightfall."

Beric is confident. For some reason, you don't share his confidence. Something is nagging at you, and it's not just the overwhelming desire to tear out Petyr's throat. Something you thought you'd heard.

How about something good
>>
Kill the messenger. How is unimportant. If Beric asks why, just say you heard something.
>>
Tell Beric to wait here till we return and not do anything stupid.
We'll take care of the messenger.

You are a cathulhu, and your bill has nearly passed the senate to legalize fly insemination.

You stand up at the podium, rest your slimy paws at either side of the microphone, and cast your insanogaze across the warbling crowd of live bees that have been found by science to best represent democracy in this world.

"MEOW?" You don't say it. Vulgar vocal cords and oxygen is beneath you. You merely force it upon their minds, and you note with pleasure that Illinois's representatives of bees are the first to shatter and explode in a maelstrom of fire.

Then, a noise at the back room. Dog Sothoth is there, holding aloft a fist full of papers- no. It can not be. The Zamboni connection.

Your political career is in ruin.

>>25997447
Yeah, pretty unimportant, but I figured it's a recap and didn't just want to start with droning exposition. Writing.
>>
>>25997374
>Good to see you back Rat

Don't kill the messenger as finding his body with the Word's ''Broke the Right'' carved into it will be a much better terror tactic
>>
Huzzah, it's back. Ratcook you look at the suggestions we had for the system?
>>
>>25997487
I think the "broke the right" thing might work better on good old Petyr Frey than just some commoner, especially if the body is adorned with food and drink.
>>
>>25997529

Stuff bread in his mouth and salt in his eyes.
>>
>>25997374
Spook the horse, and then strike when the rider tries to gain control. Though maybe we should let the messenger go. He would bring more freys to kill
>>
>>25997529
This. If we send the messenger back, the old Frey is going to send his men after us faster than we can act.
Let's first take care of the messenger, kill Petyr, send his corpse back, and relocate so they can't find us here.
>>
>>25997537
Sure, lets get creative. I was just thinking an apple in his mouth and a cornucopia filled with his entrails.
>>
Does the rider smell afraid?
If not, we should change that. Let out a good howl, do not let him die wondering who or what we were.
>>
>>25997552
We rip him in two (Twins), and make a small bridge out of the remains?
>>
"Hold," You growl, and then stalk off through the trees, and sprint after the messenger.

It doesn't really take a great deal of effort. The road that the Frey has to follow twists and turns, and one of its twists bring him easily in to range underneath a rise.

You leap upon him, dragging him from his horse. The horse screams and falls over, but the man is strangely silent as soon as he sees your face. Just goes pale beneath the helmet, before your weight pulls him off the horse, and down on to the rocks by the path. Your hands find easy purchase around his throat, and you squeeze until you feel that wonderful snap.

The screaming horse is an irritant, and you nearly turn and kill it, before that small portion of you that is calm tells you not to. You're far enough away that, at best, they might hear a slight echo. You might have use of this horse. You pull it up, tie it off on a branch, and then grab the message.

"Ryman, Petyr Frey seeking orders. Beric Dondarrion has not arrived. Something else killed our men in Havelof's village. Beric probably not here. Possibly linked to Lesser Arnof's encounter? Please give orders."

Hm. A coward. You ball up the message.

Well, at least Petyr wouldn't have his orders back by now.

>>
>>25997529
Yeah but i meant let the messenger get away so they can find him later after we've done a number on him
>>
>>25997595
Now that Petyr is cut off and stuck waiting with his thumb up his ass, now would be a good time to get Dondarrion and the broken banners to move. Let them have a few hours of normality as they lead them on a chase through the woods so we can bring the wolves on them at night.

I like salt and bread idea. Do that, put the rider back on his horse, and send the horse either back to Petyr or towards the twinss
>>
>>25997595
Let's go back to Baric. Did this little stunt cost us too much time?
>>
Okay, back to Beric. For now, you leave the horse with dead messenger tied to it- if you want to give Petyr a warning to really scare him, or send the horse on his way to more Freys, you have the option there.

Writing.
>>
>>25997595
Well, we associated the die with memories and people. The noble die are currently associated with Catelyn Tully, Jenny Poole, and our sister(s). The brutal die have been associated with the death of our family members, the breaking of the guest right, and the crown of the north.

It's been suggested that we should further associate the die with stats- strength, charisma, intelligence. Also that we should take damage by flipping die too many times. Maybe put a limit on the number of times that a die can be flipped from brutal to noble and vice versa before being burnt.
>>
>>25997754

Great!
>>
>>25997765
Also, a humanity or sanity stat. Once we burn a die, we can replenish it by taking a point from the humanity stat, but it has to be a new idea, person or reason to continue. Once we run out of reasons to exist the scourge just fades away
>>
Back to Beric. You tie the corpse to his horse, and lead it further in to the underbrush. You can leave it there as an option.

You creep back to Beric and his me. The men are still hiding. One glances up, and grins at you as you come back, "No blood? I'm surprised at your mercy, milord."

You're about to snarl when Beric whispers urgently, "Petyr and his men know nothing. However, Ser Reeve seems to have his head on straight. He's managed to plead his case, and Petyr is giving him leave to take five foot and five archers to the village to investigate. He's still gathering the men now. In my opinion, we can cut down their numbers while they're split up."
"That would spook them," Thoros of Myr, glancing over the rocks at the collection of Frey men, "One set of screams, Petyr can ignore, but if it happens again, even he'd wise up and get moving."
"Makes him more vulnerable on the move."
"Also makes running down survivors harder, especially if we won't have Robb's wolves."
"Well," One of the men, a particularly ugly bearded man leans over the rock, bringing up his bow, "I could hit Petyr right now from here- that's who we're after right?"
"No," both you and Beric say simultaneously. You glance at each other, momentarily surprised, before Beric speaks on, "Save that one for Robb. I imagine he'll want to try him."

A trial. How quaint Beric is. Still, they're looking to you for advice again.

Do you mean Jeyne Westerling, Robb's wife in life? Otherwise, these all seem sound suggestions, if vague. I like the idea of flipping limits. Humanity and sanity though I like the idea of, I'm unsure of implementation.
>>
>>25997945
The king holds his head in his hands, shaggy bloodstained fur knotted under his fingers.

"Urgh..." Leading...is hard. One parts wants blood, another part wants more blood but later on.
"...go around...before them...to the village....hide like they planned...to hunt us...no noise. Screams, we move in now. That Frey....does not escape"
>>
>>25997945
Oh yeah, Westerling.

I say for the sanity stat, just give us a pool of like, ten points and subtract them for extremely barbarous acts that seperate us from humanity.

Maybe set the current noble/brutal die as the defaults. We can't flip them more then once in a scene without risking burning them
>>
>>25997945
Are our men stationed in the village?

If not, let those guys investigate, while we move our men to a better position. Once they finish their investigation, they'll have to come back to Petyr and report, when we'll get them. That way, we get more time, better position to take out Petyr, and we are closer to getting the wolves.

>>
>>25997945
Survey party sounds like a trap. They wouldn't send a neglible ten men to the village unless they want to draw us out. Tell the archer to keep an eye on Frey's main troop.
Also get on our new horse in case we need to move quickly.
>>
>>25998152
Definitely.
>>
OKay. So, the plan then is to get Beric and his men snuck in to the village to ambush Ser Reeve and his men, while you keep an eye on Petyr Frey and his lot?
>>
>>25998187
Then I vote we do that then rush to follow Reeve, I doubt he's actually gooing back to the village he'd probably leave the idiot to die and send a proper report back to his lordship. Or I could be wrong and we'd get a chance to kill the one man with his head on straight making this so much easier.

Rolled 5, 6, 2 = 13

"Beric, can you get your men hidden in the village before Ser Reeve can get there?" You think to Beric.

"I really wish you'd stop doing this...Whatever this is," He waves at his head, wincing, "But yes, yes I can."
"What's he saying?" Thoros speaks now.
"We go to the village, get there before Ser Reeve and his men do, and ambush them when they enter."
"And he'll just handle the rest of the Freys then?" Thoros nods, "Good plan."

You're not sure if that's sarcasm or not.

Beric waves at his men, sends whispers down the line, and slowly the scabrous men rise, carrying their things, and march for the village.

You keep your eyes on Petyr Frey and his men. There's a few arguments, Petyr gets off of his horse, pursuing Ser Reeve giving all manner of orders, and what ifs, and what to do ifs, while Ser Reeve does his bet to ignore him, looking across the sitting soldiers, and gathering up the chosen few to go with him. You glance at the sun. Still quite a while before sundown. Frustrating.

Beric's men at least are quiet, as they leave the woods and make street for the fields, crouched low and careful. You can hear and smell them, but not see them as they move back to the village.

Ser Reeve barks a 'March!' and then his few men walk out of the Frey encampment, and make for the village. Just eleven men? Whatever the case, Petyr Frey is down to thirty. You might not even need the wolves after all.

Ser Reeve and his men enter the village.

>And I start rolling.
>>
>>25998454
The silence is agonizing. You have a vague relationship with time as it is, so you start measuring the time by how many times you could have killed Petyr while waiting. Five dead Petyrs, six dead Petyrs, seven dead Petyrs... You manage to reach eighteen dead Petyrs when you hear noises from the village. You hardly hear screams. Just short shrieks, and shouts, little cries of surprise.

Then you see Ser Reeve riding out of the village, four arrows sticking out of him, nearly sliding forward, shouting, "They're in the village! They're in the village!"

Petyr seizes up, pimply face stricken, staring down the road. The men, sitting, look up to Petyr. Will he charge? Will he run?

He's drawing his sword from his scabbard. You can make him break. All you'd have to do is howl, and he would run, and his men would follow. Or perhaps you want the full force of Freys to hit the village first?

You stand, and howl, to relish the fear that manifests across the pox scarred face of Petyr Frey.

"No," he shakes his head, whispers, then starts yelling, "Not that fucking wolf, not again! Stay away from me, you freak!"

He goes for his horse, and you surge forward down the hill to the Frey camp.

There are thirty men here, well trained, well equipped men, but they feel fear and uncertainty, and their equipment is far from their fingers.

"Stop him!" Shouts Petyr, swinging on to his horse, "Kill him! Twenty dragons, no a hundred dragons for whoever kills him!"

Greed bolsters courage. As you walk down to the camp, drawing your sword, you see thirty men springing to life. Take the initiative now, and strike them down before they can hurt you, or go straight for Petyr Frey's throat? Or something else?

You try to laugh again. It's an awful noise, and men slow in gathering their weapons and armor. Petyr turns, and looks at you, shocked. Suppose he hadn't expected a wolf's head to speak.

"You can't kill me," You growl, stepping forward, "I am already dead!" And then you surge forward, thinking the same though to Petyr as you run.

You broke the right.
"Who said that?" Petyr glances around, under the gray and green leaf filtered sun, turning his head around, trying to get his frightened horse under control.
You broke the right. A man is rising, shouts, raising a pole axe at you. You slice his throat as you run closer to Petyr.

"Stop saying that!" Petyr shouts, getting his horse back under control, trying to ride away, but he's still well within reach.

You broke the right, you broke the right, you broke the right, you broke the right, you broke the right.

An arrow catches you in the shoulder, causing you to stumble, but you still surge forward. A sword catches you in the side, but you hardly notice it. Another arrow, this time to a leg, but after a stumble, you tear it out and keep running. A man stands in your way, you cut him down. A pike tries to block your path, you hack of the arm holding it.

Some part of you worries. You'll be surrounded, by the time you reach Frey.

But another part of you is happy, so, so happy, as you cut Frey's horse out from under him, and send him careening to the dirt. Vengeance!

"Shut up, shut up!" Frey is blubbering now. Young man. Not nearly as young as Robb was, tangled up in the stirrups, a screaming, two legged horse on his left leg. He's trying to pull himself out from under the creature, "Stop it! You fucking backstabbed us first! You, and your stupid, fucking, whore!" He's trying to get his sword out. No use.

You walk over him. Another arrow, this time it catches you in the side of the head. Vaguely hurt that one, but doesn't interfere. He's here. Right here! Kill! Kill! Kill!

And we pull through.

Sorry, I need to make a pastebin for the mechanics. Basically, the King in the North has two competing pools- Nobility, which is used for diplomacy, being smart, and being human, and Bestial, which is used for killing, acting on instinct, intimidating, that sort of stuff. Currently, it's split between 8d6, 4 noble, 4 bestial. However, if you have something you really want to succeed on (Like, say, the King in the North facing down an army), you can swap dice, so the King would have 5d6 to gain successes when looking to kill an army, versus just 4d6. It's a bit of a long story, but one kindly anon has an embryo of a system here, called the Scourge, which I kinda borrowed for this quest.

Lemme write this next bit, then I'll see if I can figure out how to explain.

But. You hear the clatter of arms and armor, shouts, as a ring of spears and swords start to manifest around you two.

Lucky. You growl, wishing nothing more than to tear out his throat.

You grasp his throat, and drag him out from under the horse, him gasping all the while. You raise him up above you, and cast your gaze across the soldiers, and raise your blade.

"No closer. Orrr," You push the point of the blade to his belly. Petyr gibbers at the end of your arm, scratching futilely at your wrist.

"You should die," You think to Petyr, and you see his eyes bug out, "But not right now. You are still useful."

The soldiers surround you, and seem uncertain. You've bought time. You hear Ser Reeve in the distance. He's shouting inarticulately.

I mean for god sake's we have a wolf's head stiched on, an arrow through said head and multiple other arrow wounds
>>
>>25999821
Ok, so my suggestion is we lever Petyr. The Frey's are to throw down their weapons and surrender, or we'll start removing fingers from the royal pustule.

Ser Reeve can kiss Dondarion's ass for all we care, but we're not going to be denied Petyr- he's our next stepping stone to killing Walder. Ransom could draw out more then a few of his relatives into our hands...paws....er, whatever
>>

>>26000058
Nah, it's pool based. Successes are based off of dice rolled. 4s and above are successes.

Though, maybe making it additive would help make those extra dice from nobility/bestial swinging more tempting. Hm.

For now, we're sticking with the pool system, but I'll take a look at the other later.

"No closer," You growl. You belatedly realize that you're having a better time of speaking now. Still far from entirely cogent, but at least you have less grunting and struggling.

"Drop arms. Or he dies."

The men glance at each other. You clearly are unharmed by the damage dealt to you. What could they do?

Then you hear Ser Reeve clattering his way in on his horse. He's leaning over it, clearly not well. Arrows will do that to a man.

Petyr squalls something, "Reeve! Help!"

The knight lifts himself from the horse, and nearly falls out of it before a footman helps him from it. He leans heavily on the shoulder offered, and stares at you. He seems very, very tired.

"You're Arnof's beast then?" He murmurs, half lidded eyes focused on you.
"He'll," Petyr squawks, but you loosen your grip a bit, let him speak, "He'll kill me! Just, just drop your weapons! Please!"

Ser Reeve glances up, shakes his head, "If only I would be so lucky. Seems immune to arrows. Cut him to pieces, see how well he can swing a sword without arms."

As Ser Reeve slumps down on a rock, the thirty roar and charge at you.

You growl, crouch low, still holding Petyr aloft, as the soldiers surge forward.

You swing Petyr before you, sending half the number to a halt. No man wanted to be the one to explain to Lord Ryman Frey why they spit his son with their spear. The other half charge forward, and you raise your sword and howl a challenge.

Petyr whimpers as you sling him at the mob charging you. You bowl over a goodly group, as Petyr cries out again, and you surge forward, good steel in both hands, and let loose your fury.

They try to hold a formation, try to ward you off with spear and sword and poleaxe and pitchfork, but you push in, taking the injuries they give you and not stopping your charge, sending them toppling back as they try to keep the grip on their weapons. You strike down the man you stand over, smashing his face, then cut yourself free of their weapons. They back away as you pursue, pursue them to the edge. Every time you swing out the steel, it comes back red.

They shout, cry out, falling back. An axe blade embeds itself in to your shoulder, and you pay back the man with your sword to his throat. A dagger, in your eye, you return it to him, burying it in his mouth. A sword hacks at your wrist, leaves it hanging by a thread, but you crack his head like an egg with the pommel of your sword. You push them, push them until they're scrambling backwards up a hill behind the camp, until there is just one man, in full flight, who you grasp with your once torn wrist, and throw back at the formation of scared men behind you.

Just like that, a trail of twelve dead behind you. You smile.

"I am the Frey's beast!" You shout it, easy now, glorying in this, down at the men at the foot of the hill, trying to muster the courage to charge. You feel your wounds reknit, and once more see through your once ruined eye, "And I will have my due!"

You leap upon the last formation blade first, a howl of victory following you.

You see arrows flying into their number.
>>
Beric. Dramatic entrance. Him and his men shout, and charge forward, and for the eighteen men, they break. They are caught between some terrible beast out of a nanny's horror story, and to their fevered thoughts, what must be a dreadful army of green men come out of the woods to feast on their entrails. They run pell mell.

Through the blood and battle, you take a glance around. You see Ser Reeve, still upon the rock. His head is bowed, as one of Beric's men holds a dagger to his throat.

Petyr was grabbed and roped by two other bandits. They're sharing a laugh as Petyr's incessant begging and whining reaches your ears.

The Frey men retreat. Up to you if you want to kill them, or let them live to spread your legend. You can be sure that the next time Frey sends his men hunting for Beric's men, there will be far more than 40 with them.

Okay, so.

Three for killing them all and arranging them in some garish parody of a feast.

Would this include Ser Reeve and Petyr Frey?

Also, Beric Dondarrion and Thoros of Myr might hold some objections to the slaughter, but you're pretty sure their men are in the mood for reprisal, so you could probably swing it.

>>
Okay, back. Going with arranging a feast with corpses, and then hearing Beric's input regarding Petyr and Reeve.
>>
You give a command, "Spare none!" And Beric's men listen.

Beric doesn't contravene your order, but his men exalt at the chance. For men that have been labeled bandits, had to hide, had to run and skulk in woods for days on end because of these banner men, they leap at the chance to pay back in kind what was inflicted on them.

Not a single one of their soldiers survives. Cries of mercy fall on deaf ears. Frey, stares numbly, shivering. Ser Reeve continues to stare down.

"A feast," you rumble, an idea coming in to your head. One of Beric's men glances over.

"What was that?"
"Tables. Chairs," You wave out to the woods. The man stares uncomprehending.

You drag up a corpse, look at it mutilated and red. You twist a wound, "Wine and food a plenty," You turn. The man still stares, confused. Think your plan to him.

The man looks a little sickened- but also, a little gleeful. Probably what the Frey men looked like on your wedding night. Like school boys, filching cookies. They know they shouldn't, and try to look shameful, but there is always that temptation there.

He starts shouting to the others, while you turn back to Petyr Frey and Ser Reeve.

Thoros and Beric are there. Beric is smiling, Thoros isn't. He claps you on the shoulder, "By the gods, you are a fierce one. Good thing I showed up when I did though, eh? And what a gift you have brought me!" He brings up a signet ring, "Boy down there says he's Petyr Frey, child of Lord Ryman Frey! A fine ransom he'll make!"
Ransom. They seek to blunt your vengeance for money? But the little worm is already nodding, pleading, "Oh yes, oh yes, they'll pay, they shall."

Thoros looks past you, to the work that the brotherhood is doing with the corpses, "You didn't spare a single one of them then?"

You're about to speak, when Ser Reeve croaks something. He seems on the end of his rope- his arms and armor have been taken, and he sits in small clothes, swaying from blood loss. Murmuring something about crowns.

You're unable to conceal your interest. You round on Ser Reeve.
"Crown?"
"Robb?" Beric seems concerned by your sudden change of interest. Thoros is still watching Beric's men work.

"Crown," Ser Reeve gives a thin smile, leans back against his true, "I knew. I knew that would catch your attention," He looks weak, and dizzy, casts his gaze over to Petyr, "Fool's plan," He looks back to you, "I tell you. I tell you where your crown is. Just swear you let me live," He nods over at Petyr, "Can even get it for you. If you give me him."

Too far. You lean close, grab his face, snarl in his eye.
"Where?"

"Robb!" That's Beric shouting. Soft fellow this. You would love nothing more than to squeeze, squeeze his jaw until his little weak teeth sputter like seeds from an apple- but no. You let go. But move no further. Reeve coughs.

"You plug up my holes. Give me time to recuperate from your good lord's ministrations, who," He turns his gaze to Beric, "Should be dead. Didn't Gregor put a knife in your eye?"

Beric shakes his head, but Thoros finally turns away from the scene that Beric's men are making.

"How did you know about the crown?"
Reeve stays silent, doesn't speak. If you had to guess, it's that your legend is spreading. Beric clears his throat, gives you a thin lipped smile, "Like I was saying- we ransom Petyr, and split it with you. Two coins for you for every one we get. See that as fair, seeing as you put in most of the work. Then, you've got enough money to head North, reunite with your sworn houses, or see about reuniting with the Tullys," Beric grins at that, "Satisfactory end for all of us, I feel-" He turns, looks over at his men, and rolls a lip up in disgust, "What in the world are they doing?"

You glance back. A table of shields, rocks for chairs, and a feast of corpses set on it, with men pinned to stand up by spears put through them. The spot of honor at the head of the table is still empty.

The man on horseback was going at a trot, getting out of rough, rugged forest terrain. The camp had been situated in the woods in an attempt for stealth, as of such there wasn't a flat and even road for the messenger to take advantage of. The only even trail down the slope that could fit a horse was one that twisted, and the messenger had to take it slow.

The King in the North on the other hand is a bit of an undead abomination, and doesn't worry overly much about rough terrain. I see him as being stronger and faster than a normal man due to this, and able to make a straight line to the messenger before he could hit proper road.

I'm sorry if that was unclear.

>>
>>26002617
Agree to the Randsom, it's actually a good idea. Plug up Reeves holes but take him with us. When he's better we'll question him more.
We need to start thinking strategically more not just lashing out at everything that angers us (which is admittedly most things).
>>
Okay, writing.
>>
You ignore Beric's question, place a hand on his shoulder, "Fix Reeve," you think to Beric, "Feel free to ransom Petyr, AFTER I have seen to him."

Beric is, perhaps for the first time, visibly upset, "You're making my men set up this grisly tableau- why?"

"I didn't make them do anything," You think back to him, "Try asking them."

Beric's eye looks at his men. A Frey soldier is placed on a rock, and a spear driven through his mouth, in an attempt to make him balance up right at the table. It's hard going, but the men take to the task eagerly.

"At least these were men of war, not men taken under a roof of peace, with a belly full of salt and bread," You think to Beric. Then you remove your hand, "Tend to Reeve. I would have questions for him."

Beric nods, turns to Thoros, repeats your command in his ear. Thoros looks queasy at the sight of the feast you're leaving behind, but nods, lending a shoulder to Ser Reeve to lead him off for treatment. You will get your answer on the crown from him later. You will make sure of it.

You walk over to Petyr. By the gods, you would love nothing more than to slit open his belly, devour his entrails, and show him his heart while he dies living- but not right now. The crown, was more important. Petyr is getting rather sick watching the display. You wonder if he got sick at what happened at the Red Wedding.

You crouch forward, on your haunches. Petyr doesn't dare to look at you. You know, you know if you killed this man, you might have more strength for it, be rewarded for every step on your vengeance- but not yet. Not yet.

You later find out the crown is in Ryman Frey's hands. He is at Riverrun. Ser Reeve further states that he can deliver the ransom demand for Petyr for Beric and his Brotherhood. He just would need time to recuperate. Perhaps, he could persuade Ryman himself to deliver the ransom?

It'd be three days march. But crown and blood demand it.

>End for the night. Sorry guys. Next session Wednesday, 20:00.

No, Jaime lost his hand before the Red Wedding to Vargo Hoat while on his way to King's Landing.
