swamp seems natural

also, minor perk working or OP will skip that?

I'm here! Just went off for dinner, lizardfolk win!

Choose terrain (looks like we're already going swamp)

>Plain/grassland

terrain bonus, major river route
>>
>>25997325
The deeply religious seems the most useful long term, getting free stuff from the heavens every once in a while beats having a location dependent perk, or having a killable character thats slightly better than the rest
>>
>>25997339
Deeply religious is flawed in that we have to work to keep the gods inour favor, and no one says the gods would give us anything from it.
Mythical leader.
>>
Swamp

Deeply Religious - And not like druids, more like dragon worshippers
>>
>>25997325
Swamp

Mythical leader, because having a dragon that leads us and turns up from time to time would be fucking win.
>>
>>25997325
Swamp bonus of course and be deeply religious as fuck. We love the swamp mother.
>>

>>
For ages, the lizardmen had been unanimous and faithful in their worship of the Swamp Mother, the unseen spirit that protected the scaly folk's homes from outsiders and maintained the balance of nature in the swamps and marshes they called home. The Swamp Mother demanded piety and much in the way of tithes, but she kept her flock safe by maintaining her waters poisonous to the vile and hated enemy: the innumerable insects.

Until now. In a sweeping advance, the swarm spilled forth from their hives to shatter the defences of the lizardmen and defile their sacred temples. Though the priesthood prayed while the armies of the lizardmen fell one by one, no miracle of nature came to save the marsh from the suddenly evolved swarm. Only by the unexpected intervention of the great green dragon Otimgo were the spawning pools saved from a most gruesome devouring, and the insects driven back.

In the reconstruction period following the devastation of the lizards' homeland, a secret society formed to meet in the deepest waters of the swamps. Whispers spread amongst the military leadership about the declining influence of the Swamp Mother and the end of an age... Perhaps the lizardfolk should stop worshipping unseen spirits, and take stock in more tangible, more powerful, scalier gods!

The heresy spread in secrecy only for a month before the priesthood gathered wind of its existence. Furious with such sacrilege, the High Priests had many of the dragon worshippers' leaders imprisoned or executed, and turned the populace against the 'rebel elements.'

With no other choice but to face death at the claws of an angry mob, Colonel Tarakanov, a disillusioned, decorated warrior of no small repute, led a company of fellow dragon worshipping warriors in flight from the marsh. He would find the glorious lizard god who had saved them from annihilation, and with Otimgo's blessing, would make the lizardmen strong; strong enough to destroy the hated insects!

>>25998048
Stupid-dumb folks! Should've chosen mighty-swift skaven! Oh well, build up walls! Spawning pools must never be in danger again, and we must have good place to defend. Or, perhaps a less static defense? Camps in the edge of the swamp or beyond it could keep us alert to the insects. Yes-yes.

Also, get to breeding. We need more warriors, for Otmigo!
>>
>>25998406
D'oh, you got in before I could post up the start, but your vote counts!

>>25998048
With no hope of survival between the fury of the High Priests and the impending threat of discovery by the insects, the dragon worshippers flee their beloved swamphomes and work hard to construct a new settlement outside the lizardmen's ancestral breeding grounds. With military efficiency, the waters of a large pond were converted into a spawning pool, which was quickly filled with eggs.

One turn is ten days.

Pick 2 actions:
A. Scavenge/hunt for food.
B. Try to improve settlement.
C. Research technology (1/2 speed)
D. Scout the area (N,E,S,W)
E. Your Suggestion

Population: 80
Food: Rations for 1 turn.
Infrastructure: Spawning pool.
Weapons & Armor: Bamboo spears, stone tipped javelins, hide shields.
Tech: Wood Working, Mixed Unit Tactics
Defenses: None.
>>
>>25998436
Well we do need some walls to protect against the believers of the False Goddess, I also think we need to scout out and see our local surroundings
So, Scout the area (E), and build a wall around our spawning pool.

I don't really like the way /b/ goes about their civ threads, tbh. /tg/ is much more levelheaded and less "LOL RANDUM" in this regard.

And yeah, it's true you can't do those things, but Centaurs look to be the most well-rounded skillwise and you could easily build an economy on pillaging settled communities for gold and prisoners to make technological advances for you. And hey, history has a litany of sprawling empires forged by nomadic cultures.

A (3), B (2)
(17)
Driven partially by divine purpose, and partially by the knowledge of what would happen to them should their enemies find them defenseless, the lizardmen work in shifts to ensure the swift completion of wooden walls across key entrances to the swamp clearing, complete with bamboo spikes, an innovation of one of the faithful.

(10)
Meanwhile, a ten man force of skirmishers is led by Captain Arzai into the forests west of the settlement to scout out any potential threats. The search reveals nothing for the first four days, but on the fifth, a clearing of stumps is found with footprints and signs of logging activity. No one's around to be seen.

The Logging Camp
>A. Wait in hiding, attempt to establish diplomacy with whoever shows up.
>B. Wait in hiding, attempt to ambush whoever shows up.
>C. Retreat back to the settlement and report findings.
>D. Your suggestion.

(It's mid-July, it's been 20 days since the sojourn, and we'll say we've journeyed from the east through mostly uninhabited forest broken up by the occasional marsh.

Pick 2 actions:
A. Scavenge/hunt for food.
B. Try to improve settlement.
C. Research technology (1/2 speed)
D. Scout the area (N,E,S,W)
E. Your Suggestion

Population: 80 (40 eggs)
Food: Out of food!

>>
>>25998877
Wait in camp. Befriend whoever made this camp

Back at spawning pools, double up on food. Plant good plants near our home, the Little Fort, so we have a small supply in the future. Hunt anything edible, but preferably things with face-claws and whisker-anntenae. Also, can lizardfolk have less millitary titles? Perhaps some original names. Watchmaster, packmaster, claw-leader?

Looks like (a), A, D

The Logging Camp (13)
The skirmishers wait in hiding for another day before the owners of the logging camp arrive: they're humans! Twelve of them, to count. They're dressed for labor, with hand axes, saws and hauling equipment. Marshstalker Arzai steps forward out of the brush, spears tucked away and with open palms, while his retinue lies in wait with bated breath. "Greetings, humans, I would exchange words with you!" he calls out in broken common. Unfortunately, his common sounds more like guttural, threatening growling to the ears of men than anything else.

"Ah hells, lizardman!" cries one of the loggers, hefting his axe. "Back to the camp! We've got lizards on our case!" he shouts at his men, who
drop their equipment and begin to flee northbound.

The Humans
>A. Chase down and slay/capture the fleeing humans!
>B. Gather the loggers' equipment and retreat to the settlement.
>C. Follow the humans back to their encampment.
>D. Your suggestion.

(The way turns work, the time hasn't passed through the settlement's decision to gather food and scout yet. I'll write that up while you guys decide what to do about the humans.)
>>
>>25999235
See I told you we should've killed them, but nooo, "They might be allies, it'd be wrong to ambush them."

Now they're all running and there's too many to capture, and if we start trying to kill and/or capture them we won't be able to get all of them.
If we follow them, we can wait till they send off a hunting party to kill us off, then take over their village, and hold it hostage, for peace if the other anons still want to ally with them.

So, C for me.
>>
>>25999235
A) kill them
>>
A we need some metal weapons
>>
>>25999235
We should follow them. See where they live.
>>
>>25999235
C) we must follow! Find-find human-meat home. We must let them know we are no threat. We will tell their superiors, if they will see us, that we will sell much lumber if we can have metal in return. Yes-yes. Is good plan, will start economy, will give us strength. Also, send a runner back to the spawning pools. We must prepare in case humans are stupid-meat. If they are stupid meat that want to fight, send a runner to the high priests. They may praise swamp mother, but we must not let them fall to humans.
>>
>>25999302

>>

>>
>>25999509
they would kill the messenger with out listing, maybe torture location of camp out of it. we send scout back, the humans follow, we hide, humans and other lizards fight. humans win we kill the army take lizard city, lizards win we take human city we win either way.
>>
>>25999608
I like this
>>
>>25999608
We number only eighty scales (souls, people). We cannot take a city. We will be crushed if we try to fight the humans. We will have to abandon our spawning pools and rush to find the dragon that saved our people. And you wish to hurt our people when we only wish them enlightenment? Disgusting coward. You are no better than the insects that nearly destroyed us all
>>
>>25999608
How about we retreat and build up forces?
>>
>>25999235
gather weapons, hide. Maybe leave three as a watch to see if the humans come hunting for us

Enjoy Otimgo, the green dragon and object of our worship!

>>25999109
Mrrrhh, y'know... generic... swamplike... swamp... setting! :S Lots of forest, lots of water, moss and decaying logs everywhere, lots of aquatic life, that permanent funk in the air from decay...

The Humans (A) (10)
Cursing the humans' racism, Arzai leaps forward and casually hurls a spear with superb form at the nearest logger, who catches it with his lung and drowns in his own blood. "Fan out!" the lead scout barks at his retinue. "Not a single one makes it back to their camp! Honor to the one who takes a human alive!" The other lizards come crashing out of the brush, hissing and snarling as they chase after the humans. At the end of an hour's chase, however, the group has only returned seven more heads to their captain. It's dark, and there's all likelihood that the others have escaped or hidden themselves away.

The Chase
>A. Resume the hunt in the morning.
>B. Resume the hunt, entering the human camp if necessary.
>C. Gather spoils and return to settlement.
>D. Your suggestion.
>>
>>25999710

>>
>>25999710
We are stuck in this fool-dumb plan now. Find-hunt the rest of the humans. We cannot let them escape. They will tell-tell others of us, how we killed their fellows. We cannot have that. Our people just suffered an incursion by insects, and do not need another war.

B, find their camp. Kill every last one. Then, if we have insect parts from the war laying about, scatter them around the camp to make it look like they did it. Yes-yes. We cannot have search parties becoming supicious of swamp dwellers.
>>
>>25999710
Gather the axes and hunt the hummies down before they summon a greater force onto us.
Leave a few in the clearing to hide the heads and any signs of killing (in case more humans arrive).
Find the racist Loggers!
>>
>>25999797
Should we really assault the camp with our limited forces?
>>
>>25999645
they became our enemies when they tried to kill us, and we already have two enemies close by if we have a third our life will become terrible. my plan would destroy at least one of the three, possibly two. call me a coward but i would rather have the wolfs kill each other then have thee packs on our tail.

B is the course we should take, but >>25999789 and >>25999797 have the right idea blame our enemys if we can hide our numbers if we can't. but to add to the plan i say we leave a lizard for a few days at the camp if more humans come then we have a trail to our old tribe that tried to kill us.
>>
>>25999836
Perhaps not. Hopefully there is no other camp, and they are fleeing the swamp entirely. That would be best. No fight, no losses.
>>
>>25999710
Told you ten lizardfolk couldn't catch twelve running humans!
We can't return home, or they'll gather in a mob, kill us, and shatter our eggs.
Our only choice is to kill every last one of them now, before they kill us.

Perfect!

Looks like it's B, annihilate the human presence. (12)
Dawn comes, and gradually warms the cold-blooded hunters, energizing them for the task ahead. An able tracker in the group follows heavy bootprints to the main lumber camp, and goes unnoticed as he reconnoiters the perimeter defenses. Eight guards have taken post, armed in lacquered leather armor and armed with crossbows and shortswords.

The lizardmen leap into battle, stopping only to hurl a volley of javelins once in range, then leveling spears and charging in a line. The crossbowmen's armor stops all but one of the missiles, which deals a lethal injury to his armpit.

The crossbowmen fire their own volley at the charging line, holding fire until the lizards are close, inflicting 4 casualties. The remaining warriors engage the guardsmen, who break their spears with their iron weapons but fall to their own axes. Arzai and four remaining skirmishers kill off the cowering remainder and drag their fallen brothers into the marsh.

The trip back to the spawning pool is slow going (won't get back until next turn), and the survivors can only bring back limited spoils of war.

The Haul
>A. Bring back intact crossbows
>B. Bring back iron swords
>C. Bring back axes and lumbering equipment
>D. Bring human heads and meat

Hey! It's my first time, I'm slow at this ;;

The Haul (C)
The remaining scouts gather up some iron axes and saws to bring back to camp.

A. (16)
Thanks to the lizardmen's powerful swimming abilities, the pond's local turtles, fish and crocodiles are no match for the encampment's hunters, and a bountiful hunt results in three turns' worth of meat being stored. (But they eat one turns' worth now)

D. (11)
Dragon Priest Tarakanov sends out another scouting party of 10 skirmishers, led by Marshstalker Arzai's brother, Puddlejumper Usuno: an unproven but particularly zealous warrior who's eager to establish a connection to their god, the greatest of all lizards, Otimgo. The scouting party ventures northward for a few days and hears the unmistakable roar of a dragon, but fail to discern its location. Driven by zeal, Usuno orders one scout to report back to the settlement and takes the rest with him into the unknown, with little regard to the well-being of the settlement.

It's late July.

Pick 2 actions:
A. Scavenge/hunt for food.
B. Try to improve settlement.
C. Research technology (1/2 speed)
D. Scout the area (N,E,S,W)
E. Your Suggestion

Population: 64 (40 eggs) (6 killed, 10 MIA)
Food: 2 turns' worth.
Infrastructure: Spawning pool.
Weapons & Armor: Bamboo spears, stone tipped javelins, hide shields.
Tech: Wood Working, Mixed Unit Tactics
Defenses: Defensive positions (wooden), spiked barricades (wooden).
>>
>>26000414
How long do eggs take? Regardless of how long it does take for them to hatch, we must not engage in any more combat unless we have major superiority in size or numbers. With our scouts awol, we will just have to wait for them. Improve the settlement, try and plant a few crops to supplement our food supply in the coming months, and try a bit of research, preferably in the area of construction, so that we can have a small but sturdy fortress with all the lumber we will harvest with the incoming equipment.
>>
>>26000414
We should build a large moat around our camp, that way if the humans come after us they'll have to build boats to attack us, while we can swim across easily.

Also, scout north, I guess?
>>
>>26000414
C. We must get to Iron Working fast.
>>
>>26000414
A)
E) send someone to the human camp to gather the weapons, specially the crossbow, will save us the research, which seems to be slow
>>
>>26000414
C. Research technology
We need to create better weapons, and more of them. We also need better armor. Losing four men in battle back there was too much.

B. Improve our settlement
Let's try and build some more extensive fortifications, namely a moat or some more pungee pits using sharpened bamboo sticks
>>
>>26000526
Bad idea, four lumberjacks are still unaccounted for, from our little man-hunt.
The humans most likely have already gathered everything there, and are organizing themselves for a counter attack.

>>26000478
I'm changing my second action to what >>26000488 says.
>>
>>26000473
Mm, the thing says that breeding is "exceptional" for the lizardfolk, so... a clutch of eggs half the size of the population hatches... every season? The next clutch hatches in mid-September.

>>26000478
The way the spawning pool's set up, all the eggs and dwellings are in the pond itself, the eggs clustered at the deepest spot and the dwellings carved out of the mud in the shallow banks (not the most comfortable living, but the scaly folk work with it in a pinch). A human attack would probably already need boats.
>>
>>26000561
I'm guessing we got the axes from the battlefield as it seemed to have the majority's vote. If that's the case, that will make creating fortifications a lot easier.
>>
>>26000573

The scouting party led by Marshstalker Arzai returns, and bring with them tools that are sure to aid in defense and construction.

B. (20!)
The new tools are quickly put to use, and a great deal of lumber is harvested for such a short time. The remaining days are spent shoring up defenses with ramps and firing positions, and in a stroke of inspiration, a lizard in the working party orders the construction of several floating gardens from back home. In about a month the first harvest should be ready.

C. (3 :c)
The Dragon Priest gathers his brightest innovators, and orders the study of the human weapons brought in. They determine that it comes from within the earth, but their bestial minds cannot begin to fathom that iron is smelted from ore.

We desperately need some more food, and I'm really hoping this floating garden thing goes well.

C. Put our reptilian brains to work by figuring out how to make earthy stuff into pointy shiny things

Damn. We're low on food again. Send out hunting parties again! This time, let's see if we can add some fish to our lake or moat or what have you. With or new gardens, we will have a small but steady supply of meat and vegetation for our people.

Other than that more tech. We need better weapons, and we don't have the location nor the resources to make iron weapons. We must make do with what we have. Better throwing spears would be good. Perhaps large numbers of light javelins for every warrior, and then a large axe and shield? I think that ought to allow us to stay flexible but strong in battle

Work continues on a daily basis about the settlement, which by the grace of Otimgo has gone unmolested thus far. Dragon Priest Tarakanov's thoughts turn to his lost soldiers, good lizards all, when suddenly one of the sentries begins hissin' and a-hollerin' to the camp, "Our brothers return! Puddlejumper Usuno and his scouting party return!"

Usuno is summoned to the Dragon Priest, who begins to rebuke him for abandoning his comrades, but is stopped by his exultant cry, "WE HAVE FOUND OUR GOD AND SAVIOUR!" The rest of the scouts raise their spears and shout, "OTIMGO!" in unison, and all ears and eyes are on the scouting party. "Truly?" asks Tarakanov, hardly able to contain himself. Usuno draws a crude map in the mud depicting the approximate location of the lair of Otimgo, which no one had dared venture into but was identified by the unmistakable dragon tracks heading in and out of the cavern.

C. (19)
The leaders among the lizardfolk gather to contemplate how to best proceed with their campaign against the cowardly human, the hated insectoid and the hostile High Priests of the Swamp Mother. Time spent gathering and hunting for food could be funneled into more productive tasks if the lizardmen were to farm the aquatic fauna of the pond in sturdy wooden pools. Between the coming harvest and the farming of fish and turtles, the lizardfolk are now self-sustaining.

Though the former career soldiers of the Dragon Cult are accustomed to living in improvised shelters, the soon-to-hatch brood will need housing facilities. The lizardfolk gather some surplus lumber and start sawing up lengths to build basic huts along the shoreline, but find late in the process that almost all their stored wood has been compromised by termites.

Cursing insects, the lizardfolk manage to salvage wood for four small huts.

C. (19)
In a flash of inspiration, one of the lizardfolk carves out a long, tough rod of wood with holes punched into its sides. He then leashes several rows of crocodile teeth across its edges with the sinews of the beast, creating a wicked mace.

Meanwhile, one of the garden tenders posits to his swampmates that one might reap a more bountiful harvest if one were to compost waste products and dead fish and "feed" the plants with them. He's laughed out of credibility by the others, but goes ahead and fertilizes a plot all the same (will take more research for the discovery to become widespread).

Steeling themselves and bristling with anticipation, the six-scale party of lizards crosses over the threshold of the cave, cautiously navigating into the darkness. The cave proves surprisingly shallow, however, and before long the party has waded into a large, central chamber with a single hole in the ceiling above letting in a ray of light. The chamber appears empty, when all of a sudden Otimgo the green dragon drops down from the ceiling.

"I had wondered if you primitive little lizards would have the courage to return," he muses in a sophisticated manner. "I am, of course, Otimgo the Magnificent, as you must know. You, on the other hand, are a mystery to me," he says to Tarakanov, craning his neck in to get a better look at the shuddering lizardman. "Who are you, to so boldly intrude upon my lair without so much as a reason as to why I shouldn't strip the flesh from your bones and use them to clean my teeth?" He bares these in a grin that drips with corrosive acid, displaying hideous blackened teeth.

"Oh Mighty Otimgo, Saviour of the Lizardfolk," begins Tarakanov, "Your humble and faithful servant has journeyed far from the sacred temple swamps of our people to pay homage to the mightiest of the lizard deities!" This clearly strikes a chord within the conceited dragon, who despite being irked at having possibly been called a lizard, has never been addressed as a god before. "We seek your guidance, divine Otimgo, and beg your aid in destroying our most hated enemy, the insect, that we may make believers of the rest of our misled race!"

Feigning a rage, the green dragon rears and roars, "And what sort of sacrifice would such a mewling, pathetic skink make in order to earn such patronage from a god?"

The Sacrifice

"Glorious Otimgo, my entire tribe is willing to sacrifice all in the name of the mightiest of scaled warriors," declares Tarakanov confidently, "Every single lizard with me shall live and die by your command, without hesitation! There is no higher honor than to serve Otimgo!" The other lizardfolk in the room repeat the mantra with conviction.

The dragon rears back on his haunches and laughs, a high and cold laugh that reverberates about the walls of the cavern. "Your blind faith pleases me, drakeling," he declares. "When the time comes, you shall pledge yourself and your entire tribe as mine."

"BUT FAITH IS NOT ENOUGH TO EARN THIS!" he screams, lunging forward suddenly, "PROVE your misbegotten race worthy to be my faithful, lizard. Make war on the humans settled in the nearby hills. Bring me their women and children, and take the heads of their warriors. Burn their settlement to the ground! Then, and only then, will you be rewarded beyond your wildest imagining!"

The great green god has spoken, and the path is clear. Bowing profusely, Tarakanov and his charges back out of the cave, not daring to lift their eyes until fully back in the forest. The party of six returns to camp along the same route, and the small tribe of dragon worshippers is rallied. One way or another, the humans must be sacrificed.

Thanks to good scouting practices, the lizard warband easily spots the paladins without being seen, sneaking around them and onward to the hills.

Swamp Guardian Arzai's small warband makes it through the rest of forest to the hills with little incident, evading patrols and leaving few tracks. Upon cursory inspection, the human settlement appears to consist of a medium-sized village set at the base of a hill housing a mine shaft. The hill itself is robed in scaffolding and crawls with laborers hauling carts of stone from within its depths. A five foot wooden wall manned with crossbowmen encircles the town, though the gate is currently open. Black smoke drifts lazily toward the sky from within the walls, though you cannot make out the source.

B. Improve settlement (which we really should vote on a name for) (11)
In response to the growing number of hungry mouths to feed, the lizardfolk back at the spawning pool put together a few more floating garden plots. The lizardfolk will be self-sustaining again in late October.

The Mining Town of Underhill
B. Sabotage (7)
Brave though he may be, the Swamp Guardian is no fool. To take on a village with a warband this size would be a waste of Otimgo's warriors. Guerilla warfare, however, is not out of the question. The lizardmen slither out of hiding, belly-crawling under cover of darkness to approach the mining facility itself.

Suddenly, one of the scouts is spotted by a human sentry, who takes a wild shot and yells for his comrades! You hear the humans shouting frantically to one another from over the hill and through the mining camp.

The Homefront
Meanwhile, at the settlement, a sentry picks at his eardrum, wondering if he really did just hear the rustling of metal on metal. His suspicions are confirmed when he scans his approach and sees six ironclad paladins trudging through the marsh toward the settlement's defenses! They're moving rather methodically due to the adverse terrain.

>A. All hands (claws?) take defensive positions on the palisades!
>B. Arm up and sally out to meet the threat!
>C. Attempt diplomacy!
>D. Abandon all hope, flee!
>E. Your suggestion.

Snap Decision (17)
>A. Slaughter the humans for Otimgo!
Bloodlust boils in Arzai's cold blood, and a fit of rage overtakes the lizard warrior. Catching a bolt on his shield, the Swamp Guardian screams, "Slaughter the humans in the name of Otimgo!"

"Otimgo!" cries the warband in unison, before charging in serpentine pattern. Six sentries desperately unload their crossbows into the fast-approaching lizards, but only two go down before they're splattered all over the scaffolding by the wicked macahuitl.

Roused by the shedding of warm blood, the lizardfolk race down the hill toward the village, snapping their jaws in anticipation. A gruesome battle takes place within the walls of the town, and though the town militia is caught off guard by their enemy's savagery, they rally and acquit themselves admirably, driving the warband back (25 human casualties, 9 lizard casualties). The 15 remaining lizards lick their wounds and return to the settlement.

The Homefront
E. (19)
Thinking quickly, the former tactician Tarakanov leads his lizard warriors out through the gates to meet the invaders. The paladins shout and brandish their weapons at the lizardfolk as they approach, but the lizards keep their distance and encircle them, teasing them into deeper and deeper waters. Suddenly, one of them is grabbed from below and disappears under the water, never to be seen again! Five more lizards attempt the same, but the quick thinking captain of the humans illuminates the water with a spell, allowing her companions to smash the ambushers with boot and mace.

"Otimgo is surely watching, faithful ones!" cries the Dragon Priest. "Show him we are worthy of his benificence!" Twenty warriors engage the remaining paladins, with spear and macahuitl, from above and below. The fight goes surprisingly well, and at the end of it all, four paladins are taking mud naps, one lies unconscious and battered, and only fourteen lizardmen were killed in the fight.
>>
>>26009488
Kinda wondering what would've happened, if we'd have rolled a 20 on the first one (25 lizardmen waltzing down a whole town - a sight for the mighty Otimogo indeed).
>>
>>26009488

>>26009488
Is not best-good outcome. Cannot risk another fight after we finish Underhill till we have at least two more spawnings.

Salvage the human-meat. Take their metal-skin and perserve it from the waters. Eat their flesh, but keep their bones. We shall parade their armor and bones before Underhill, and give the town the option of tribute or death. Yes-yes, they shall give metal or blood, both will surely please Otmigo.

Spoils of War (B, C)
The victorious lizardmen ditch their macahuitl and belt the powerful magic weapons of the paladins. Perfectly balanced, eternally spotless, and possessing an uncanny tendency to separate a lizard's head from his body (demonstrated several times), the vorpal blades will serve well in the arms of Otimgo's warriors. At Tarakanov's command, the lizards haul the human captain back to the settlement, wrists and ankles tightly bound by sinew.

Study-learn magic blades. If we can endow simple weapons of our own with basic enchantments, we will make up for our currently low numbers. Yes-yes. And bring the prisoner to Otmigo, after intterogation. We must tell our lord we are too few to take on the settlement on our own without leaving our home Oziliken, unguarded. If Otmigo is truly mighty, can he not show us he will care for us even as we serve him? We will not serve an abusive, uncaring master, no-no
>>
C. (12)
The lizardmen once again turn their minds toward technology that can improve how they fare in times of war. Seeing that the humans have ingeniously supplemented their squishy, pink bellies with leather and metal carapaces not unlike those of the hated insectoid, the lizardmen set out to devise their own body armor. Though crude and improvised for lack of ability to gather better resources, the new crocodile hide armor will provide an extra layer of protection to the lizards' weak points.

It's early October.

B. (16)
The brood of the dragon cult requires more housing, especially with the cold season at hand. Lizard engineers draft plans in the mud for a large and ambitious project, a lodge capable of housing a hundred sleeping lizardfolk! Forest is clear-cut for the task, and work begins on shaping the required lengths for the project. In a month, the longhouse will be ready. Oziliken is beginning to get a bit cramped for space, and will need to expand to improve it's infrastructure.

The Wandering Orc
A. (20!)
Dragon Priest Tarakanov arrives at the gate to personally invite the guest into his humble lizardhome. "Evil" races have to stick together, after all, don't they? Barbatus and the Dragon Priest trade war stories through the night, and it turns out the orc was quite the sorcerer in his day. Having fought through campaigns on several continents against the dwarves and elves, the sorcerer became disillusioned with it all and abandoned society, preferring to live a solitary life and speaking only for himself. Before he departs in the morning, Barbatus scribes several magical scrolls for the lizardmen to use in their quest to please Otimgo. (Fireball, Summon Fire Elemental)

D. Lizard Orgy!
All this bloodletting, hard labour and serving Otimgo has given the lizardfolk of Oziliken both a lot of stress and a major hardon. The spawning pool lies empty, and food is plentiful, so for three days the lizardfolk do nothing but procreate, resulting in a clutch of 32 eggs (which will hatch in Spring).

It's not quite late October yet, the prisoner is still about to be offered to Otimgo, next post.
>>
>>26010335
But aren't orcs Naturally strong warriors wouldn't lizard orcs hybrids be a good thing? I'm pretty sure that they would help us kill all the Filthy racist humans.

The end result was something completely different from the start.

>>26010396
Ah but a great and mighty warrior as a sacrifice to show off our strength to the mighty Otimgo, that should earn us some browny points.
>>
>>26010396
it is their mightiest warior/paladin, sacrifice is guud
>>
>>26010412
True but most half breeds for instance the mule or Liger are infertile but i see your point

WAIT by scrolling up i see that Otigmo asked us to take the HEADS of their warriors so i say we decorate it within sight distance to the mouth of his cave but not too close as too annoy him
>>
>>26010349
I suggest we make it customary for warriors to take the heads of enemies also add a hook made of stone or wood to their belts(if they have any if not make them) specifically for holding heads and each warrior should they fell an enemy should take back at least one head
hopefully if we practice this enough it will become so second nature that we wont even need to spend a action to collect heads
>>
>>26010467
We should also practice fast knot tying so if the enemy has hair we can tie their hair to our belts or head hooks to keep the skull intact
>>
>>26010349
Next time we have free warriors we should train the best of them to become swamp hunters who cover themselves in mud and spend their free time exploring the swamp so we can have a sort of stealth unit that can hunt humans like animals and take many heads (we are going to be predators)
>>
>>26010349
The Dragon Priest and a heavily armed escort of six cultists travel the beaten path through the woods to Otimgo's lair. The paladin captive doesn't struggle much along the way, though her eyes widen when she sees the mouth of the cave and smells the stench of acid within.

"You return, whelp!" cries Otimgo, surfacing violently from a pool in his cavern, "And you bring me a single human captive! Am I to assume then, that there are another fifty strung up outside my lair, ready to be delivered?"

"N-no, your scaliness," begins the nervous Dragon Priest, "The campaign against Underhill continues, though we have struck a blow against them. We come to you today to offer this mighty human warrior in sacrifice to you, great Otimgo, one of six your faithful slew in glorious battle!" With that, the escort roughly cuts loose the paladin and shoves her into the presence of the dragon.

"Come on then, foul beast," she cries, balling her fists and beginning to radiate with holy magic, "Outmatched I may be, but I won't die here without leaving you a souvenir!" She conjures up a golden hammer of pure energy and charges at Otimgo, who casually flicks her into the water with a claw.

"A paladin, hmm?" He muses. "A most impressive haul, for a pack of delusional geckos. Your god is pleased, make no mistake, lizard priest." The paladin rises from the water, dazed and reeling. The dragon's eyes narrow into slits and he turns to her. "But first," he says, making arcane gestures with his claws, "I do so hate paladins." He casts his spell, and the paladin screams as she's transfigured into a half-dragon!

"Witness the power of a god!" roars the dragon. "Crush the remaining humans and you shall have this power!" Bowing ceaselessly, the dragon cult backs out of the cave and returns to Oziliken.

The lizardmen have no trouble digging out a deep trench with their powerful claws. They find little difficulty in channeling water into it. They even devise a method of covering the moat with dead foliage to hide it somewhat. But when it comes time to relocate the larger crocodiles into their new home, several mishaps claim the lives of 3 lizardmen. The moat is completed, at cost.

Study scrolls. Become fire summoning lizardmen. Destroy humans in spring.
>>
>>26010689
Studying the scrolls teaches the spell for good, but they're a one time use.
>>
>>26010573
what happened to half-dragon?

>>26010599
i agree, but magic would be more useful right now so i vote study scolls
>>
>>26010732
P.S. It's early November!
>>
>>26010732
study scrolls
>>
>>26010744
In Otimgo's lair, last you saw her.

I also miiiight have messed something up... wait nope, the hatchlings are all grown up next turn.
>>
>>26010750
is there a way to copy the scolls and make more??
>>
>>26010732
study scrolls!

how long till our young are grown up?
>>
>>26010773
Only a mage who knows how to scribe scrolls can. :I
>>
>>26010732
Pfff, study magic obviously.
Also, did we succeed with getting crocs into the moat? Or did we simply lose a couple of guys for nothing?
>>
>>26010742
have EVERYONE study the summon fire elemental it has the potential to double our army for short periods the other scrolls can come later STUDY THAT FIRE ELEMENTAL have only one person cast it at a time thou just in case it is summoned unbound to our whims

Also could we send a small scouting party our like say 3 lizardmen to find the orc and offer him food and lodgings in exchange for teaching the spell to a few promising lizardmen
>>
>>26010798
It did work, we do have a crocodile moat/farm, a few guys were eaten in the process.
>>
>>26010750
Can we expend an action to finish big-home now? If so, do it. If not, prepare more macqhuitals and javelins as an E suggestion. We must not be unarmed when we assault underhill. Also, we must train the hatchlings, some will need to come with us, and others will help guard our home
>>
>>26010744
i still vote for magic

its not a problem right now but i think we stopped bumping

>>26010800
study it but don't cast it till we attack the city it will be useful in the battle
>>
>>26010859
What if we summon unbound elementals that kill us? if we can learn the spell we would become much more powerfull
>>
>>26010732
Have our Dragon Priest learn the spells so that he may accompany us on our next raid
>>
>>26010732
The longhouse is completed at last, and just in time for the impending arrival of winter. The hatchlings are now full grown lizardmen... they grow up so fast! ;; 38 untrained lizardmen are now ready to take on their duties in the service of the right and true god of lizardkind, Otimgo.

E. The entire cult is rallied and tested extensively for magical talent for ten days. At last, two promising mages are discovered: a young adult named Lemprai, and a hardened warrior known as Gyandat (thank you, captcha). With the aid of Barbatus the Sorcerer's experience-infused scrolls, Lemprai learns to cast Fireball and Gyandat learns to conjure a fire elemental.

It's mid-November.

Oziliken
Pick any 2 actions:
A. Scavenge/hunt for food.
B. Research technology (1/2 speed)
C. Scout the area (choose)
D. Assemble a raiding party to attack the humans.
E. Expand the settlement.
F. Your suggestion.

Population: 84 (84 lizardmen, 32 eggs) (this number's probably fucked up)
Food: 2.5 turns' worth. (self-sustaining)
Infrastructure: Spawning pool, expanded floating gardens, fisheries, 4 wooden huts (houses 20 lizards), crocodile farm, longhouse (houses 100).
Weapons & Armor: Bamboo spears, stone tipped javelins, hide shields, iron axes, macahuitl, vorpal swords, hide armor.
Tech: Wood Working, Mixed Unit Tactics, Agriculture, Fisheries, Body Armor.
Magic: Lemprai (Fireball), Gyandat (Conjure Fire Elemental)
Defenses: Sturdy palisade (wooden), spiked barricades (wooden), crocodile moat.

D, with our new magic we just might be able to hurt the human town.
B.
>>
>>26010995
>D. Assemble a raiding party to attack the humans.
>E. Train magic
>>
>>26010995
C. Scout humans

F. Train Swamp Hunters to be a mud covered scout group
>>
>>26010859
>its not a problem right now but i think we stopped bumping
Mm, I'll rearchive this thread after the next set of votes and carry it on in a new thread.
>>
>>26010995
No raiding just yet, it's winter + a lot of our lizardmen are untrained. I say, train magic + train warriors.
>>
E. Train the new brood in combat
E. Begin making macuahuitls and armor, enough to outfit the new warband
>>
>>26011043
E. Train warriors
E. train magic users
>>
>>26010995

>>26011051
Agreed
E, train the new brood for combat

E make weapons and armor for them
>>
>>26010995
im changing my vote because its winter
C. Scout humans
F. train warriors from the untrained
>>
>>26011084
>>26011051
lets get them outfitted this turn so that next turn we can over run them
>>
>>26010995
E, E (training, and more training)

E. (train warriors) (14)
The old brood, veteran warriors and survivors of both the insect incursion and the High Priests' inquisition, have their work cut out for them teaching the new brood the ways of war. Through teaching the young, the veterans learn a thing or two themselves. A greater, more effective warband can now be mustered when necessary.

E. (Magic) (9)
Lemprai the young mage takes his sweet time mastering the Fireball spell. It's draining work, casting a spell, but after some practice, and an accidental airburst that fortunately didn't kill anyone, he figures he can cast Fireball reliably once an encounter. Gyandat has a bit more trouble perfecting his Fire Elemental spell, and is still conjuring unreliably (difficult roll to successfully summon).

(And with that, I think I'll be archiving this and starting a new thread to continue the Cult of Otimgo quest c:)

Train Gyandat and scout the humans.
>>
>>26011221
When can we expect the new thread?
>>
>>26011249
it is winter, we die in the cold.
let`s hold off scouting until the spring comes.
we can spend the winter training and breeding
>>
>>26011281
i agree
>>
>>26011281
True but maybe they know of our weakness we should at least have sentries
>>
>>26011281
Agreed. The winter is going to be hard, and we need as many people as we can muster to be at home helping us get through it. The humans don't know where we live, so it's doubtful they'll come searching for us in some kind of revenge mission. The next brood is set to hatch in the spring, so we can perhaps wait until they mature so we can attack with even more numbers in the summer. Or, we can just simply attack as soon as winter is over.
>>
>>26011329
agree aswell
>>
>>26011264
it's up! >>26011441
