You are Ssen, a Lamia raised by a human Paladin who adopted you after killing the ones who birthed you. You are grown now, and Father has passed on. After a great deal of work, you have become a Paladin like your Father, and now take up his duties.

You are accompanied by your best friend from childhood, the insect druid Tricia; Mage, a magic user who ran away from his family of cannibal raiders known as the Ghouls (Yes, his name is Mage. It was his idea); Persephone, a 22-year old thief/ex-guerllia fighter (She goes by Peri), and Mari, a 13-year old prodigy scholar/now sniper, who has her mind and soul trapped within Peri's body; and Lea, a deeply religious musician/martial artist, trained by her father, a famous trainer for arena fighters, she's covered from her mouth down in bandages to hide the horrific state her body has become thanks to the 'cures' that saved her from cancer.

Your journey continues...

Thanks to a magically created windstorm, your poison gas, and judicious violence from everyone, you, Tisgut the scout of the Red Wolf tribe, and the orcs of the Rat Tribe were able to repel the orcs of the Hawk Tribe.

You were also able to successfully rescue two human slaves, siblings Terry and Tammy, from the Ice and the Things that dwelled on it.

However, you were faced with a very bad situation. The Hawk's final suicide attack had destroyed most of the structures, tents, and defenses of the Rat's camp. Also, it was all but certain that the Hawk Tribe orcs would soon return for a second raid.

You had to move, but with the destruction, there wasn't enough shelter to safely camp out on the open tundra. There were two friendly tribes in travel range though, the Boar and Red Wolf.

Boar was the biggest tribe, and the safest, but the Rats could only call them 'friendly' as long as they paid tribute to them. Right now, that tribute would almost certainly be children, the shaman Sirala, and they'd expect tribute from you and the Dawnchasers as well. You could fight them, to show that you're above that...but Boars have long memories and keep grudges against those that show no respect to them.

Red Wolf was more openly friendly and willing to trade for a few 'special items' that the Rats had been saving. However, Red Wolf's camp is across the Ice. To reach it now, you would have to cross it. At night. A deed that even gives the mighty Tisgut pause.

You didn't want to have the Rats suffer, give up tribute, or alienate what could hopefully be the army that you'll need to match the Phoenix Empire's. So, you chose to go to the Red Wolf tribe, and brave the Ice in Darkness.

You've made stupider decisions. That's what you keep telling yourself anyway, as you pack up Wagon. Although, right now you're a little hard-pressed to find one that matches this.

"You said that once before." Sirala says.

"Twice important." Tisgut says.

"I really wish you would take better lessons on how to speak the language of the humans, you make us all appear to be debased savages." The Rat Shaman says. "It isn't as if you can't learn to speak simple contractions and prepositions. I did, and I was kept in a traveling freakshow for three years!"

Tisgut shrugs. "Speak well enough. Languages hard. Understand, enough, yes?" He asks you.

>>
>>25959170
>Our human civilians are going to be in the wagon with us, yeah?

Yes, you'll have Lightmare pulling Wagon which has your travel gear, equipment, a bundle that Sirala gave you for 'safe keeping' (She has asked you not to untie it unless all the Rats are dead.) and the other Dawnchasers.

Tisgut is riding one of the Rat's Tundra Hinds.

The Rats have five wagons. They're each twice the size of Wagon. Four are packed with people, one with things. Sirala is riding in the things, along with another wrapped bundle that she has on her back.

Tammy and Terry look horrified to the point of armed futile mutiny.

"First you throw us back to the orcs that destroyed our home, then you're taking us to MORE orcs, and NOW you expect us to go BACK out THERE? IN THE DARK?!" Terry screeches. "What kind of inhuman, soulless, monster ARE you? Haven't we suffered ENOUGH?!"

"You know, the quip was probably a little much, and a little mean spirited...or at least could be taken as such." Lea says as she wags her finger at you, as she gently picks up Terry and puts him in Wagon. "A Paladin is supposed to be of comfort."

"You have to be such a killjoy?" Tricia asks.

"It's why you keep me around." Lea says.

"Don't worry, he's not dead, or hurt." Mari says to a shaking Tammy. "Lea knows how to knock someone out. We don't want your brother to get hurt."

"But...the code?" She says softly.

"My code does not exist to make your life perfect, or even happy. I would if I could, but that's not why I'm a paladin. No, my duty as a paladin is to make sure that you survive. As long as you're alive, life can get better. I'm here to get you to the light at the end of the tunnel." You say. "Also, we really can't just kill off a whole tribe of folk to take their things. That's exactly what they did to you folk. An eye for an eye isn't how the teachings go."

She looks down at her feet and nods. "Okay. I...I understand."

You can tell that she doesn't. She still thinks that her life has just traded one monstrous master for another. She's just agreeing to avoid displeasing you and possible punishment.

You notice that there's some empty clay jars in the van of goods. They're smaller than the usual water jugs.

"What are those for?" Mage asks when you pull one out.

"Dried herbs, powders, seeds, flower petals. Little things that need to be stored." Sirala says.

"Ssen..." Peri asks, very VERY cautious. "What are you thinking?"

You remember how very very quickly that oil soaked rag went up. Plus the idea of flaming oil is pretty basic, just with this black stuff instead of animal fat.

"I have an idea." You say.

Tisgut, Sirala, and the other orcs want NOTHING to do with what they see to be as one of the most suicidal creations they've ever seen.

Tisgut is riding a Hind by himself. He's actually strapped torches to the poor creature's antlers and lit them. The Tundra Hind doesn't seem to mind, though. It actually seems to be trying to use the flames to impress Lightmare.

Lightmare is chewing on a hunk of what you think might be partially-exploded-dead orc-slightly fleshy-bone chunk, and is unimpressed.

You all travel together up to the very edge of the Ice. It's not THAT dark yet, The sun's just starting to set. You've got a few more hours of light left...but that's while you're on land, of course.

Tisgut takes out a spy glass and scans the horizon. He stops and hands it to you, pointing.

You look, you do indeed see a point of light in the distance across the ice. It must be a very large fire...just the thought of being near such a huge lazing fire makes your scales shiver in excitement.

"GHA!" Lea screams as a bolt of lighting hits the ground just a few feet away from you, the noise is deafening and ice shards fly up and embed themselves within the side of Wagon.

"KEEP GOING!" Tricia says.

You look out at the side and you see...well, you see people. Lots of people. They're standing, lying down, kneeling, in countless positions, and they're everywhere. All frozen. You aren't riding over a frozen ocean, this is a frozen mass grave. All of them looking identical to each other.

They aren't human. They're humanoid, but they've got three insect-esque segmented eyes, and three mandibles. You could make out more features, but you're torn away from the mass of bodies by seeing what is causing the howling.

They have the bodies of hairless wolves, deadflesh wrapped around something slimy, cold, and red. Their legs end at their ankles, and their feet are claws of Ice, they snap off and regrow and they keep getting sharper and more jagged as they snap and warp.

They have no heads. but from their necks is a collection of arms. The smallest has five, the biggest has nine. They're all black and frozen and have ice crystals jutting out of the skin. The arms end with hands and the palms are split open, revealing mouths with a circular row of teeth and black tongues. The mouths are the thing that are howling at you.

The hands rip and tear at anything that they can reach as the ice claw/legs propel the creatures towards you. They rip at the frozen dead bodies of the Three-Eyes as they pass, and the mouths goggle up anything they can.

The lighting strikes again, and Lea's forced to make Lightmare turn to the side for a moment, then back up. The slow down is enough that the Hounds are starting to catch up.

>>
I doubt we'll need to do anything, we're way ahead.

I'm still waiting for the ambush in front of us.
>>
>>25964537

It's still not enough though. You can wave to it as it slowly loses its pace and Lightmare and Wagon speed away.

The lightning seems to have stopped as well.

"SHIT!" Lea screams and Lightmare makes a hard bank the OTHER way.

You scramble upwards, past Tricia and Mage's groaning forms and get next to Peri.

"It just ripped open right in front of us!" Peri says.

"AGAIN!" Lea shouts and it's true, the ground split open a fissure right infront of wagon, you snap your head to look behind you and you see the Ice Fissure snap close with such fury that chunks as big as your head are flung into the air.

A blast of lighting again almost hits the cart.

"AGAIN?" Peri screams. "COME ON!"

It's a shriek this time, and it comes from the air. You turn and you see the Long-Legs. A chain of frozen deadflesh limbs, all chained together up, up, and up, at least thirty feet high. They stride across the Ice, with no hesitation or unnessecary breakage. The thing that's connected to these giant four appendages is a mound of ice covered in deadflesh, save for it's moth a gaping maw that looks more like the inside of a butcher's sausage grinder. A spinning mass of canine teeth, shrieking and wailing. Thin spiderweb thin tendrils fling out from the mouth, trying to latch onto Wagon, slow it down, so they can catch up.

We start over again. The fissures and lighting blasts are slowing Lea down, so it's now a score of 150.

One tendril latches onto the side of Wagon. It's not enough to slow you down any.

Options are: Mage's spells (4 uses), firebombs (6), fire arrows (Infinite but have to hit), deal with tendril (special), Peri's special shot (2), Tricia's swarm (Roll for effect). You can use as many or as few as you like. You can also tell Lea to just go for broke and get an auto 25.
>>
>>25964812
I think we've got a problem.

Let's solve a problem. Oil slick, or bomb-fed tendril if we can catch one.
>>
>>25964877
Stab the tendril with beacon and shoot a fire arrow at the culprit.
>>
>>25964877
I say deal with the tendril by sticking a bomb to it then cutting it off the wagon. If not is the official voting time.
>>
>>25964877
FEED THEM FIREBOMBS
>>
have mage fireball one, and shoot arrows at another one, they are too far up for firebombs to be very effective i think
>>
>>25964904
Considering the shockwave when we actually threw a bomb, I don't think this is a good idea.
>>
>>25964998
how else are we supposed to feed them firebombs?
>>
"Guys, don't look behind us. You wouldn't like it." You say.

"Too late." You hear Tricia whimper.

Alright, in order for you to stick the /lit/ firebomb, to a tendril and send it back, you're going to have to make two separate checks. That thing is covered with micro-stingers and His Light knows what else. So, any tactics you want to use other than 'Light it, stick the bomb on, rip the thing off Wagon?'
>>
>>25965014
Spit a nice little splash of Clear on it?

>>
>>25965014

>>
>>25965014
Let's tie it on with a bow More reliable than just sticking, and we don't have to touch it.

Also, use a heated blade to slice the thing off. This is my plan. If anyone wants a different plan or strategy, go nuts.
>>
>>25965014
Can't we cut its tendrils off with Beacon?
>>
>>25965014
Stick bomb on, cut the tendril off wagon.

Hopefully it'll have a sort of elastic effect and propel the bomb back into it's mouth.
>>
I say we go with arrows, the firebomb thing sounds like something that could get us killed with a bad roll.
>>
>>25965079
yeah, but that would be the wise thing to do. When's the last time we did that?
>>
In order to be able to stick the bomb onto the tendril and then cut it off, and have the tendril STILL hold the bomb, you'd have to stick it to the thing in mid-air. It's a guaranteed thing if you stick it to the part that's still on Wagon and then pull the full tendril off.

Otherwise you're holding out a bomb hoping that it wraps around it, or chuck a lit bomb at a thing that's about as thick as your finger.
>>
>>25965179
point. if nothing else, it would be a shame if we never used our rerolls
>>
>>25965072
I was thinking string up the bomb to a rope on an arrow, plant the arrow, and dangle the bomb behind the lead... thing.
>>
>>25965196
Fuck it, we're grabbing it then.
>>
>>25965196
Yeah, we're sticking it to the part on the wagon then whacking it off. Am I missing something here? Where's the mid-air part come in?
>>
>>25965244
let's just use our precious, precious handkerchief as an intermediary between our hand and the tentacle. That way we can release.
>>
Question:

If we strike these stragglers off with beacon do we start charging Beacon's Flare?
>>
>>25965201
Or we could just not use a bomb. We also have Mage's spells, fire arrows, Beacon, and Tricia's insects. Plenty of options that don't involve blowing ourselves up.
>>
>>25965291

>>
>>25965201
>>25965291
>>25965300
Yeah, if echo is telling us the stick-then-cut plan isn't viable, we don't have to use it. I'm having a hard enough time trying to imagine just what the heck these ice corpse monsters look like, let alone how much tricia owes us 5 gold.
>>
>>25965253
Oh, you want to stick the bomb to the tendril, then pry the rest of the tendril off before the damn thing explodes?

That's a possibility...but your 'fuses' are ANYTHING but reliable.
>>
>>25965300
And four fire spells. And less effective fire arrows. And a melee weapon. And part of our lover's body.

The bomb will be fine if it is dragging a safe distance BEHIND the target, but that advantage is lost if we let it get too close.
>>
>>25965196
Let's cut the tendril off and chuck a bomb at the ones coming to us.
>>
>>25965300
Are for throwing at things from a distance, not detaching things from Wagon.
>>
i'm given to understand that a poison strong enough to actually be dangerous to us is sorta a big deal and i'm guessing that any poison on this thing would be there as an afterthought.

besides, it would be nice to actually put our poison immunity to use in combat for once.
>>
>>25965330
I thought our fuses just worked when the bomb broke. Which means we'd have to hope the thing breaks it when the tendril gets back to the mouth, or shoot it when it's close to the main body.

But yeah, that's the (stupid) plan.
>>
>>25965355
I'm not actually worried about poison so much as getting stuck to it. And then our hand being sticky after we cut it out. All day.

They're hiding under a blanket, praying. They are your heaviest burden.

You need to ditch two equipment, or one person, to effectively add more speed.

And one tendril has latched on, and the one that Mage blasted away has caught back up, so next turn it'll be able to attack.

Well the good news is that you're still outpacing the creatures...the bad news is, like the Hounds, they're changing themselves to try and catch up. One of the things has eats the others, they make a shrieking sound that you know you'll hear for the rest of your life in nightmares. and has ripped off their legs and attached themselves to the body. It's now this huge, bloated, longleg spider-Thing, howling and dripping that green yellow ichor from its maw as it skitters towards you WAY too fast.

"Again, THIS is our new standard for HORRIBLE IDEA!" Mage screams as the creatue gets closer and closer. The tendrils are longer too, but just out of range of Wagon.

You think you hear that sound Lea might have mentioned. A rumbling noise, also, you can see that there's been a change in the ground. You're still traveling over a sea of frozen corpses, but now you see the Ice take on a Yellow-Green glow deep within it.

If you have Lea go for broke, you can probably out pace the thing. It's not designed to go for long distances on the ice with legs arranged like that.

Or you can try something else, any monster that you deal with is something that the Rats and Tisgut aren't dealing with...you hope.

oil slicks aren't hard to hit, we could light it with our free arrows. Our only concern is using our one slick now or later. My bet is the next monster is a worm, so the slick will be worthless, and thus can be used now without consequence.
>>
>>25967248
You can smash a bomb on the ground and ignite it to make an oil slick. It'll hit, but the damage it does is questionable, and might not slow it down at all.

Beacon's actually at 3 charges now, when you clear the longlegs you'll be at 4.

So...I see two votes for oil slick, one for gunning it, and one for chucking all four bombs at the thing.

Do I need a vote or can there be a consensus?

"Lea, keep steady while we try to roast this thing from a distance." You say.

You smash one of the jars on the ground, and see the black goop spill all over on the ground, You then light an arrow and light that mess up, just as the Daddy Longleg charges through it.

You see the flames creep up one of the legs, and the leg hisses steams, and snaps in half with a brittle CRACK! You see the limp spurting that yellow-green ichor everywhere, and Daddy Longleg crashes into the ground.

"I can see the fires! I can see the camp!" Lea shouts.

You turn and almost laugh with relief. It's right THERE! You can see the flames and the buildings and the-

"AAAAAUGH!!!" Lea and Nightmare scream as the first geyser erupts.

"Oh you have to be KIDDING ME!" Peri shouts.

All along the ground geysers of that yellow-green ichor are bursting up, spraying that ooze into the air in spouts that are up to 30 feet high. The smell is horrific, and there are bodies and skulls of the Three-Eyed people popping out of the ice with them.

Lightmare, for once, is freaking out. The lightning continues to try and strike. The chasms still rip open and slam close lik hungry mouths and this ooze is now everywhere, along with dead bodies, and more and more geysers are erupting. And the damn camp is RIGHT there! Thank His Light Lea is so good with this horse or you'd just be spinning around in circles.

"Ssen..." You hear Mage say quietly. "I love you. You're my sister, and you saved me...and I love you. And Tricia, and Peri, and Mari, and Lea...you're my family." He swallows. He's looking behind you. "I just wanted you to know that."

>>25967713
You're not getting there fast enough.

Well...you know you have to...so you turn and look.

Call it the Choir. For the skulls and bodies that are sticking out of it are...singing. Wordless, mindless, each a different tone, But they're singing and it's...probably the most lovely sound you've ever heard in your life. The thing is a mass of Ice and semi-frozen ichor. It's still growing, in size, in volume, and in beauty. You feel tears drip down your face as you look at the abomination.

When it moves, it slowly slouches, that's the best word for it. It just shifts its great mass forward one way, then forward the next. Tentacles made of ice and ichor grow out of it, wave in the air like a conductor, and then sink back into its flesh.

You hear the song...you hear the story...you are not fighting a land spirit...you are fighting God. The civilization, the race, the wise ones with three eyes and mandibles reigned here. They tamed all, and eventually the decided to tame God.

As a one, as a race, as a people, they transcended...they became a God. They became THE God, and they Rejoice...for all they seek is your ease. They weep for your suffering. They wish to let you be God as well, to rule, to live, to love...Thou Shalt Be.
Thou Shalt Be Us.
Thou Shalt Be ME.

(cont)
>>
>>25968044
The Choir sings, and you see Tricia weeping for joy. Mage keeps speaking of his love for all of you, for his new life. Peri and Mari have dropped to their knees and are singing hosannahs. Lea...poor poor damaged Lea...she doesn't hear it...doesn't WANT to hear it...she's like these pig-dogs...the foulness...the slaves who do not know their PLACE! There IS no GOD without those to pray, those to bow, those who OBEY!

And the noise, that horrid horrid noise! The scratching and screetching of a thousand minds and bvoices. Each with a will and a life and a thousand million thoughts! NONE can listen to it and stay SANE! So you RIP it apart, or MAKE it FIT, or...and this is the best...make it Understand...for a mind that is in Praise. A mind of Glory and Hosannas is a mind of peace, and quiet to the Will of God.

A world of Quiet Devotion, no thoughts save those for God. Blessed Be.

This is what the Fifth wants.
This is what the Dragon Who Was Of Shadow wants.
This is what Peace wants.
This is what Citadel is creating within itself RIGHT. NOW.

You blink and close your mouth, your throat is sore.

"Oh thank His Light!" Lea says. "Ssen, you've been screaming in terror for the last three minutes!" The other three Dawnchasers are still in a state of rapture.

Lea has bandages stuffed in her ears and is doing EVERYTHING she can to get away from the mass of the Choir.

You see the blackpowder pistol that Mari has in her belt. It's already been primed with a charge and wadding. All you need is the bullet, and thank His light, that brat of yours put the bullets in a small pouch that hangs from the butt of the pistol.

You grab it and take out one of the bullets. It's not metal...it's a lump of stone that, when you get it near Beacon, it glows.

It's not 100% pure, but it's over 60% pure. A brillitite bullet.

You can fire it at Choir's center of mass, at one of the large collection of exposed singing heads, or it's 'head' where you see a lot of skulls directly looking at you and Lea.

Okay. So 8+3 for the Oil explosion, and a multiplier of 4 for the Brillitite...44. Okay.

The pistol's CRACK is one of the loudest things you've hever heard in your life, and the recoil, it's as if the gun was a living thrashing creature. You nearly drop the damn thing.

The sound and the flare of light is enough to bring the other Dawnchasers back to normal. They look at you...then they look at the Choir.

More specifically, they look at the growing red/blue light that's growing within it.

"LEA!" Peri yells. "UNLEASH LIGHTMARE NOW AND GET DOWN!"

Lea lets your horse go and the nightmare bolts towards the pillar of fire that signify safety.

You all dive to the bottom of Wagon and brace yourselves.

The song stops for a moment, and you hear a soft gasp of disbelief.

Then the world explodes in a mass of light and fire in an explosion so bright, that Maxine says that she saw it back in First Wood.

The Phoenix Empire took it as a sign of blessing.

Same as did the White Tree purists.

First Wood thought it was a sign of trouble, an omen.

You look up and see that there's another crater thanks to your efforts. It's bigger than the last one too. You wagon is also limping along on the force of the impact, having being blown forward, and you inch onto land proper before the wheel gives out and breaks all together, dumping you all out in a pile of limbs, bodies, and tail. Tammy and Terry are still in their blanket, now passed out.

Also, it's not the middle of the night anymore. It's just on the verge of twilight. The sky is a deep clear blue, with a hint of yellow on the horizon. The weather is cold but mild, and the air smells as crisp and clear as it did on the Tundra Plains.

You also have about fifty orcs pointing polearms at you.

"STOP!" A voice says. You look up and see Tisgut galloping across the Ice. The other wagons are right behind him, all five of them...well...the fifth one is kind of smoldering a bit and still slightly on fire. But they're all there.

Tisgut starts to shout in Orc, and he takes out a small blade and cuts his palm, while he's on the Ice. The other orcs see him bleeding freely while on the Ice and make way for him and the Rats.

He doesn't waste any time. He jumps off the Hind and points at the mass of you, talking rapid fire in Orcish.

That's about when your body gives up on the adrenaline and all the nightmare that you just went through and you pass out.

You have a nice, peaceful, muddle-dream, sleep. No blank space. No sings. No Song of Choir.

It's almost time to hug everybody.

"I don't think we died!"

Amen.

Honestly? If they understood what just happened, EVERYONE would breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Always darkest before dawn.
>>
>>25969154
ah, there we go, KOed. I expected us to go out soon.
We go unconscious a lot. I think humans can deal with stress better. Like, they can put up with this and just go catatonic, not right up pass out. Either that or the cold got to us.
>>
>>25969182
Yeah, but we can stare at a full manifestation of Darkness and not go crazier. I think we got the better deal.
>>
>>25969212
yeah, I'm just noting these biological differences as they come up. They're interesting to me.

If I could, I would watch documentaries in a british accent on fantastical creatures all day.
>>
>>25969182
Probably the cold, dealing with manifestations of evil and the smiting of said evil.
>>
Can we tell Mage to add 'splitting of the atom' to his extensive to-do list? If we fail to gather the Orcs, we're going to need big booms against the Phoenix army.
>>
I wonder if we basically took all the monster aggro for the rat tribe.
>>
>>25969182
>I think humans can deal with stress better. Like, they can put up with this and just go catatonic, not right up pass out. Either that or the cold got to us.
Little of column A, little of column B...mostly B. Humans go crazy or in denial as defense mechanisms, Lamia brains just take in everything and process it, until the point where they just shut down. It's an imperfect design. Humans go crazy, but can keep going and even be totally unaffected, look at Lea.

>Honestly? If they understood what just happened, EVERYONE would breathe a collective sigh of relief.
Yeah...uhh...the Ice God isn't dead. Not by a long shot. You just blew up one of its cheerleading teams.

Anyway, I hope you liked the Ice Run. Trust me, this is just the opening act. You're going to go into the Three-Eye's Ruined Capital! Fun times for everyone, and souvenirs a-plenty!

Next thread will be on Sunday, July 14th, 3-6pm PST.

May His Light watch over you all, and may you not die.

>souvenirs
I was WONDERING what we should bring back for the little ones!

See you sunday. Sad I didn't get to see how the orcs reacted to our wild wild ride.
>>
>>25969338
I wonder if that wasn't Tisgut's plan.
>>
>>25969365
You know, perhaps. I wonder how much of our ride tisgut saw- the blizzard IS blinding to anyone on the ice.
>>
>>25969346
It was awesome. Thanks Echo.

Considering The Dragon who was Shadow being sealed and trapped in a remote mountains for a damn long long time and the Ice God. Huge, huge power difference. The knowledge of sealing a Land Spirit is gonna be extremely extremely valuable to the orcs. Perhaps valuable enough to take down 500 000 soldiers?

Something tells me we're going to need a Light of our own.
>>
>>25969401
I really hope someone has taken us out of power by the time nukes are invented.
>>25969396
I'm hoping they'll help us on the merit of those 500,000 being dicks. I want them to change their ways in exchange for a god sealing.
>>
>>25969275
Considering the rarity of Brillite? We'll need every gram just to deal with Citadel and Destiny.
>>25969346
Damn it, Echo. Should have known it wasn't going to be this easy.

Well, just so I make it a tad more clear. The Orcs WERE a slave race to the Three-Eyes before they did what they did. If anything, the Orcs (with the exception of the Hawks because they're jerks, and bitter) are amazingly kind and care for their slaves to a degree that would completely mystify the Three-Eyes. They're still slavers, yes, but...well...the garden you get comes from the seeds you so.

An Orc who gets a slave treats them well, ensures that they're fit, fed, and capable of work and doesn't over work them. What use is a slave that's incapable of work? An Orc would always give water to a slave who asked for some, because that's what they need. Slaves are things...but in the Tundra, things are valuable and should be well used.

A Three-Eye would work an Ork to death, let it die of thirst. And then just get a new one and move on. They were things...replaceable and disposable. There were nice Three-Eyes of course, and Three-Eyes that moved for an end to slavery, moral Three-Eyes who tried to make life better for the lower class. You're...better off not knowing what the Ruling Class did to them. Let's just say that the Things that you've seen so far? They had prototypes. BEFORE the Ascension.

I can just imagine coming back to White Tree and having them try to turn us away at the gate.
>"We have defied Gods and slain abominations of the Myriad Darkness that are beyond your ability to comprehend. We have survived horrors that went even beyond FAIRY TALES, and seen things that would give your nightmares nightmares. I have seen the true depths of primordial Darkness, a foul force that would have dominion over the whole World, and the Dawnchasers will be the tip of the spear that drives those foul Gods back to the Darkness that birthed them."

"Stand. The fuck. Down."
>>
>>25969346
eagerly awaiting the next thread.

also holy crap Echo, your monsters rival some of lovecrafts stuff, hydra arm headed wolves with mouthes on the hands....

if I ever DM a game those are going to show up.
>>
>>25969562
well, marvelous. Still needs to be cleared up. We should start with our own country though, is there any slavery in citadel or the UFK? We should ask one of our friends once we wake up.

Are they still turning us back at white tree? I thought they let us in for diplomatic stuff, but we just didn't need/want to.

probably inspired-by.

Her Incontinent Self still hates our guts, I think.

All because we made her do her job. Once.
>>
>>25969660
I don't think she even really hates us that much. It's unwarranted to be calling her names as of yet. Besides, she's been doing her job near constantly since we left if her making a theology is to be believed, so she might have gotten better.
>>
>>25969604
I would be ever thankful for art of the Ice Things.

The Headhunter, the Hounds, the Longlegs, the Same Ones, The Dark Cold Man, or even Choir.

I'm working on more too. Like I said, this was just the opener.

Or just a regular Three-Eye, how they look just human enough to be familiar, but with it's side mandibles and a sense of awful superiority on its face to make it totally alien.
>>
>>25969699
She lived and worked under Citadel's coddling. I think she's less a leader and more a spoiled pontiff, especially based on that green paladin's description of her behavior.
>>
>>25969701
As long as we can find some good souvenirs and get back alive with all our parts, I'm happy.
>>
>>25969701
Yeah, little bit of Lovecraft, little bit of Carpenter, little bit of EC comics, and a few nightmares I had from watching Disney's Peter and the Wolf as a child.
>>
>>25969701
Is the Dark Cold Man even the real local baddie? If he is, he certainly doesn't keep a low profile where we're concerned.
>>
>>25969747
Still, being a spoiled pontiff really isn't that bad all things considered. I'd like to shoot for making her a better leader. Also maybe seeing if that mandalin spell thing did anything to her, it could very well have and we just never looked into it.

Anyway, I just scrolled back up and Ssai and Ssah are still adorable.

It is if you're the highest source of spiritual authority on the continent leading your followers through a time of intense hardship, turmoil, and uncertainty.
