You are Princess Lydia Tannhäuser Von Cygnus Gates the third, second in line of succession to the throne, duchess of Tannhäuser, and executive director of the Royal Rocketry Corps of Midland.

The equinox party is over and Amelia got a ride back to Castle gates, leaving you at Stonefield to see the results of the tests. Klaus has fallen asleep on the desk still clutching some papers and Minerva has placed her alchemists robe over him like a blanket. "We have determined that the residue on the gears and in the can that was used does not match the sample given to use by the manufacturer." Minerva says as she greets you. "There are also a few discrepancies between the two cans, although this is not immediately obvious without a careful examination. We must then conclude that grease used on the gears was a cleverly forged counterfeit" She explains this in the same manner you remember from her lectures before producing a letter addressed to you. "I also found this near the door shortly after you and Amelia left for the Ball. Do you have any idea how it might have gotten here?"

It is turn 19, The weather seems to be clearing up back at Tannhäuser island, your weather satellite detects no further storm systems nearby and storm season will end next turn. You have 50 points of RnD to spend and you are out of luck.

All posts must use the royal we. Any suggestion unfitting a princess will be ignored

We shall read the letter.
Depending on its contents, we may need to take drastic measures.
>>
>>25957685
We think it was either improper inventory management, in which case, we propose a system. We call it Spacesafe. Spacesafe is a complex system of quality assurance to ensure this will never happen again.

If it was sabotage, I also propose an internal group, the Department of Space Internal Affairs. We will investigate people working at our infrastructure, along with external threats to our space program and infrastructure.

OOC: Based on SUBSAFE and NCIS respectively.
>>
>>25957901
We have not the budget for such when we can request the Military Intelligence Office and the Intelligence Agency to look into it.
>>
>>25957886
The letter reads,
"Luna,
The society expresses it's deepest concern over the malfunction of your teliscope and hopes you will recover from this setback. We will contact you when you have more to report.
-Lilith"
Well this is disappointing, if they are holding a meeting tonight, you weren't invited.

What are your plans for this turn and how will you spend your budget?
>Stay in Midland
>Go to Halcyon Manor
>Go South
>Go back to Tanhauser
>Go farther east

Also, please set the status of your radio teliscope.
>Scan the pole for any signs of Faux Stars.
>Scan the ecliptic for any anomalies.
>>
>>25958079

This. We shall request the proper organizations that deal with this kind of thing to investigate. After reading the letter, of course.

For the RnD, we should invest in MultiVac, one of the radio-reactive projects, and improving everyone's skills.
>>
>>25958154

We shall return to Tanhauser, and set the telescope to scan for anomalies. After >>25958179.
>>
>>25958079
We can however make at the least, a program to increase safe standards internally, to prevent this.

Scan the Ecliptic.

We concur with
>>25958179
>>
>>25958179
Which skills are we improving and on who?
>>
9 RnD for MultiVac 10/15
35 RnD 10/15 for Radi-Reactive Pile
6 RnD to develop the princess's engineering skills

Is this how it works?
>>
>>25958309

THinking of the princess, since she will be the one to adjust things on land.
>>
>>25958361
seconded.
>>
>>25958154
We shall return to Tannhauser Island and assess the damage. We will determine the budget once we have seen how damaged our facilities have been.

As for the Radio-Telescope, we shall scan the poles for Foe Stars.
>>
>>25958361
And ignore the development of the Meteor, which we need for the Reusable Capsule project and bonus?
>>
>>25958361
You may only spend one RnD to improve a person's skill each turn. Training them also prevents them from doing other things, which here would include travel.
>>
>>25958519

Oh. Then I propose this:
9 RnD for the MultiVac 10/15
35 RnD for the Radio-Reactive Pile
1 RnD for Corbham's engineering
4 RnD for the Meteor 10/13
1 RnD for Hawtry spacesuit 2/5
>>
>>25958678
So you're going to ignore the fact that we can begin repairs on Tannhauser Island now?
>>
>>25958154
((Eeesh, running really does cut into your ability to monitor the catalog. Only just seen the thread.))

>>25958678
If it's safe to do so, then working on the radio-reactive pile is probably a priority. We should probably head back to Tannhauser and see what the damage is first, though. We need to know how many RP we'll need to divert to repairs.
>>
>>25958519
Seeing as how the weather forecast shows everything to be clear, has an estimate of the damage to our facilities been made?
>>
>>25958782

Make your budget.
>>
>>25959069
We can't until we know how much needs to be allocated for repairs. What part of this do you not understand?
>>
With a series of blinking lights, beeps, and electronic hissing noises, MVAC screeches to life and begins to print out a report from the Colonel back at Tannhäuser island.
According to the satellite forecasts everything is cleared up and there will not be another storm coming this way. If you trust the machine it should be safe to return home.

Damage has been minor. Aside from general cleanup it will simply be a matter of re-assembling the launch tower (which was disassembled before the storms) and putting the roof back on the workshop. Both tasks will cost 25 points to complete. Fixing the Launch tower will allow rocket launches, fixing the workshop will allow construction of parts.
>>
Player stated goals from previous threads were.

1) Launch a second lunar probe
2) Refine and test the Meteor (Complication, Harker won't allow anybody other than himself to fly it presently)
3) Upgrade MVAC
4) Finish Test Pile.
>>
>>25959424
25 points each, I assume that is? So a bit over half of what it cost to fix things last time.

I recommend:

25RP fixing the workshop
9RP MultiVAC 10/15
6RP Meteor 10/14
10RP Radio-reactive pile 6/14
>>
>>25959551
Request to know status of pile, also, how many FLOPS is MVAC?
>>
>>25959551
The Meteor is a Mass 4 Reusable Capsule, so your Budget should be:
25RP Fix Workshop
9RP MultiVAC 10/15
10RP Radio-Reactive Pile 6/14
4RP Meteor 9/13
2RP EVA 2/6
>>
>>25960896
Oh, damn, you're right. I couldn't remember its Mass, so I looked it up on the Wiki, and saw "Mass 2". Didn't notice the "Dry Mass" part - it counts as a Mass 4 part for actual improvements, doesn't it?

Support that budget, then.
>>
>>25960896
>>25959551
What ever happened to launching a second probe?
>>
>>25961083
We need the workshop and launch pad fixed first. If we fix the workshop first, then next turn we can construct a new probe and fix the launch pad, then launch it at the end of the turn.
>>
>>25961119
Yeah that is what I was suggesting. We can worry about MultiVac and the other things after remember we get points for the probe.
>>
>>25960896

I am ok with this budget.
>>
>>25960896
>25RP Fix Workshop
>9RP MultiVAC 10/15
>10RP Radio-Reactive Pile 6/14
>4RP Meteor 9/13
>2RP EVA 2/6
Confirming budget updaiting wiki.

What shall you do for this turn?
>Oversee the repairs
>See how the EVA thrusters are coming
>See how the Radio pile is coming
>Talk to Harker or Cobham about the Meteor
>>
>>25961585
>See how the Radio pile is coming
After the Moon Probe, MultiVAC and Meteor, this is the next big project.
>>
We shall see how the Radio pile is coming
>>
>>25961585
I agree that we should see how the radio pile is coming. Hopefully our investment has made it a little safer, at least.
>>
As you go to inspect the Reactive Pile, Minerva hands you a heavy white robe, apparently lined with lead. "You'll need this inside the chamber." she tells you in her usual tone as she begins to unlock the door. "Ve packed everything away for the storm season, but once we put it back together ve should be able to bring it to criticality at any time." Klaus explains. "Once it vorks ve can enrich radioelements into there more energetic isotopes." He sounds giddy now, preferring this to the lab at Stonefield.
>>
>>25963183
I don't quite like the idea of going into the test chamber. Is there any way we can observe from somewhere safer.
>>
>>25963183
"Once we finish the MultiVAC project, we should be able to move resources to finishing this project. Patience, Klaus."
>>
>>25963298
"There are no reactions underway at present Lydia." Minerva tells you as she leads the way into the room. All the radio-elements are stored in large lead lined casks. "Once the reactor is resembled however I will not be able to let you in here." She says as she points to the pit at the center of the room where the reactions will take place.

The expression Klaus had while you were at the party returns. He dosn't say anything but it looks like he feels underapreceated. He's not nearly as stoic or reclusive as Minera.
>>
>>25963614
"We shall have much work for you both, once some of our other current projects are completed. We hope that we can begin work on the radio-reactive turbine within the year."
>>
>>25963614
We can't have him feeling under appreciated.

"Klaus, perhaps you can show me how the system will work. And perhaps we can talk about other projects you have ideas on."

Can't have the huns getting their hands on him.
>>
We shall ask if it wil be safe to have the reactor working during the storm season once development is complete. If it's not, then inquire about how to make it safe.
>>
>>25964185
Minerva pauses and thinks about that for a while. "I would advise you shut down in those events. I can't make any grantees as of yet."
>>
>>25964478
"Perhaps we can move it into the hill, when it is shut down."

We should get going to the next Turn soon. We have a lot to do.
>>
>>25964541
It's already dug into the hill, there isn't much deeper you can go. You could expand the blockhouse upwards a bit, but that wouldn't be making things any safer, just more room for upgrades.

It is now turn 20, The Tang contract is renegotiated in 2 turns. you have 50 RnD points to spend you are out of luck.
>>
>>25964628
Turn 20 Budget:
25RP Repair Launch Tower
22RP Lunar Probe (Cheribum 12RP + Pathfinder 3RP + MiniVAC 3RP + Television Module 1RP + Photovoltaic Panels 1RP + Void Thrusters 1RP + 4 units of Fuel 1RP)
3RP MultiVAC 11/15
>>
>>25964786
I'm just going to support this budget and then I am absolutely going to have to go to bed, what with it now being past *dawn* here. Good night, God Mother. ((Or good morning, I suppose. Whichever.))
>>
>>25965327
It's a slow night, I guess things move faster on the weekends.

>>25964786
25RP Repair Launch Tower
22RP Lunar Probe (Cheribum 12RP + Pathfinder 3RP + MiniVAC 3RP + Television Module 1RP + Photovoltaic Panels 1RP + Void Thrusters 1RP + 4 units of Fuel 1RP)
3RP MultiVAC 11/15

Confirming budget but seeing as there are only two people online and one just went to bed, i won't launch until next thread.
>>
>>25965846
Alright.
