@GhostAdjutant

You were a ghost operative of the Terran Dominion, under Emperor Arcturus Mengsk. Your Codename is Delta Phoenix. You received a transmission from Korhal. "The Emperor is Dead. Long live the Emperor. "

It seems like a lifetime since the fall of Korhal disabled your neural inhibitor and you went rogue. With the help of a rogue Dominion Marine, Jacob Henderson, you and your small crew secured a Gorgon-Class battlecruiser you now call The Daluke. The Dominion, bounty hunters, and criminal scum alike are all after you with a massive 1.5 billion credit bounty on your head. But they're going to have to earn it, first.

You have recruited, killed, or taken the remainder of Phoenix team prisoner. Using an MDF transport you return to the Daluke.

Adjutant A.I. online.
Autopilot engaged, Commander.

The flight up to the Daluke requires navigation through some serious ship wreckage. Burning halves of battlecruisers, and New Alamo station among them. Charlie regained consciousness at some point and sat up, but has yet to say anything. Whiskey sits at the back of the transport, half covered in darkness, and sharpens his knife. November appears to be playing some sort of game on his hacking equipment, and will occasionally curse in his thick accent.

You radio the Bridge.

>"Daluke Actual, this is Delta Phoenix. I'm in orbit and requesting clearance to dock."
>"Clearance granted. Proceed to bay four."

You can either talk to Charlie now, or give her some time to cool off in the Brig.

>"Move, Move, Move!"

The barbed wire overhead catches your suit occasionally and cuts through. The sound of automatic weapons fire thunders from the direction you're crawling. Several rounds hit to your left and send mud flying.

>"We've lost Gamma! Oh god, we lost Gamma!"

You reach the mound of dirt and duck behind it. Delta's taking cover to your left, Alpha on the right.

>"Seven on the left. Two on the right."
>"Too many, we can't flank them."
>"What - What happened to Gamma?"

You remember the young ghost, always joking. He was always picked on by the Sergeant.

>"Didn't keep his head down."

You look from Alpha to Delta, who nods in confirmation. You feel like you could cry.

>"I don't - Oh, god. Oh no."

You try to fight it but you start to break down. You feel your legs giving out. You feel Delta's hand on your shoulder.

>"We're not leaving you behind. -I'm- not leaving you behind."
>"Marines are inbound!"

You look around the mound of dirt you're using as cover. Five or six Dominion marines are charging you. You hear your instructor's voice over the loudspeaker.

>"Start shooting, Ladies! This godd'am exercise is live fire, not dirty looks!"

You pull the trigger.

Everything else is a distant memory compared to this.

You step into the briefing room with the rest of Phoenix squad. Zeta and Alpha sit at the front. Commander Dyson stands behind his podium.

>"Morning. I've got your briefings prepared. You're going to be on split deployments. The Zerg attacks have us spread thin at the moment so you're needed everywhere.

You open the file. You're going on a solo mission to Umoja to assassinate a councilman, no support, the only team on the operation is already MIA. This is basically suicide...

You look to Delta, she's already read your thoughts. "No, Don't do it, Delta!"

>"Commander, if I may, my mission's more suited to another member of the Team. Anyone can take out a rogue battlecruiser. You've got Charlie on a zero-support mission, though. I'd like to request a trade."
>"Chhhhh'damnit, Delta. You aren't supposed to use Psionics in briefings and you goddamn know it."

The Commander sighs before he looks to Alpha, then Zeta. Both of them nod.

You look at Delta incredulously. You can't believe she'd do that without your consent.

You are in the dark of one of the maintenance shafts. The only one you've found to not be bugged. This is where you've been planning your escape since you were kids.

>"This isn't just about you, Charlie."
>"Like hell it isn't. You don't think I can do this!"
>"Records indicate Migar might know something about who I am. Where I'm from. There's too much covered up here for someone with my access. They're -hiding- something about him from us."
>"You're just being paranoid."
>"It comes with the job. Just... be careful out there, alright? Once our missions are done we're too split up. I'll transmit Coordinates to you as soon as I can. We'll rendezvous and make for the fringe worlds."
>"Is... is this really going to work?"
>"Might be our only shot."

The memory flashes forwards. You're on the bridge of the Teron. Bodies of dissenting crew lay all around you. You sit at the comm center. You wait for those Coordinates.

And you wait...

And you wait...

And it doesn't come.

The message doesn't come. Delta doesn't contact you.

Whiskey comes in over the speakers.
>"If you're done bonding we're coming aboard the Daluke now, Delta."

You take your crew to the Bridge. You step past a few marines with combat scars over their CMC. The XO gives the new ghosts a suspicious look before he begins speaking.

>"Sir. We lost 9 marines, 6 medics, and 6 firebats in total, across all boarding actions. No ships. Murric doesn't have a death toll for us yet, but they lost New Alamo. Murric is requesting any supplies you can give.

The President has requested an Audience at your soonest convenience.

Dominion ground forces are scattered and surrendering.
>>
>>25954838
Right, begin repairs immediately.
Engines,
Main Engineering
Weapons control

These will be priority

Secondary considerations
Living Quarters
Armory
Docking bays

Continue with recruitment and train at least 10 more marines, 8 firebats, and 10 medics

Continue with construction of Goliaths to replace lost units.
>>
>>25954877
You have Combat Shields.

They are automatically applied to all non-hero units.
>>
>>25954890
Yamato damage would've been critical and rendered the Daluke unable to engage in combat during the fight.

Fortunately we have acquired the Aeron and New Alamo's survivng crews. We can now fire the cannon effectively.

>>25954903
We cannot jump until engines are repaired. That is the only requirement.
>>
>>25954906
soo, priorities:

Engines
Main Engineering
Weapons Control

the rest we can limp with, so I say, repair engines first, then main engineering

then pickup supplies/resources from our Island base on Murric

The pres can wait until after repairs are started and introductions are done

once the Daluke's repairs are planned and underway we can assess what supplies we can give to Murric
>>
>>25954906
Try and get the surrendering Dominion forces. Any that want to leave the Dominion behind and join our crew should be welcomed provided they aren't too indoctrinated via resoc.
>>
>>25954906
First things first, start repairing the engines, engineering, the bridge and living quarters.

Also get our resources offplanet.

Sell surplus supplies to Murric
>>

We got a lot of volunteers huh? Need to meet up with them soon too then...
>Planetside
We should sell excess supply to the most needy on Murric, and make plans to meet up with the president with Mac to discuss rebuilding their orbital defenses- they need that desperately.

We can trust Murric to run clean up operations of Dominion forces I assume?

After the plans are made, deligate micromanaging to our best officers and our XO, THEN it's time to introduce our ghost friends...after we ask Charlie if she'll join us.
>>

>>
>>25954959
We can bring this up when we talk to Murric's president.

If he has a number of enemy POWs, then that might be a problem. They'll face extreme hostilities from the people of the planet for their attack. And while they could provide labor for the planet as a "punishment", us taking them aboard, some at least, will lessen the government's workload of managing them.

>"You know me, always looking for new faces to add to our family."

Eventually the XO stops in, then Mac. You begin.

>"The Ghosts with me here are the surviving members of Phoenix team. They have chosen to defect and will be joining us."

You turn to face them.

>"If they so choose to. You are free men now, and you can choose your own names if you want. You don't have to keep your callsigns."

There is a moment of silence. You know none of them remember their names. But Whiskey speaks.

>"Whiskey Phoenix is my name. The name I was born with is cursed. It is the name I had when I was taken by the Dominion. But Whiskey Phoenix is the name I had when I was set free."

Henderson puts his cigar into his mouth and offers a slow clap, as do several other crew.

There appears to be a news crew in each corner of the building.

Murric has one moon with no available minerals or Vespene.

There is a barren rocky planet close to the sun with mineral and vespene deposits.

There is a desert planet with no life, minerals, or vespene.

There is a blue gas giant composed of Hydrogen, Caslon, and Nitrogen. It is visible at night from the surface of Murric. There was a listening station there that was destroyed by the Dominion assault.

I am detecting no other relevant celestial bodies at this time.

Why not? Do you want us to lose?
>>
>>25956447
After reading the dark templar series which perfectly explains how resoccing works I kind of don't want to do that.

We could look into psionic reversal of our own resoc process if we have time when we are a bit stronger psionically.
>>
>>25956482
Seconded
>>
>>25956516
We only resoc for training, not for personality alteration.
>>
>>25956135
Murrikans should look into bases on the OH GOD IT' SHOT world, and so should we.

QUIETLY. If we are going all in, may as well leave some hidden assets to assfuck any dominion forces that arrive.
also, we need to send both valkryies to the city world we helped lioberate and see if they cna help-
They still had an orbitla platform, a battlecruiser, and a bunch of cpatured dominion assets on hand when we left, as well as excess population.

They need food and space for refugees, murrika needs industry, hardware, and new workers to replace the millions of dead-
And we've got two jump capable frigates to provide escort/patrol duties, a hercules, good relations with both planets, and a match literally made in heaven.
>>
>>25956516
Because we agreed to

That was a terrible thing we agreed to. Not worth it at all.

Just resoc.

"No, I won't be doing that. Applicable POWs will be given a choice. Serve under my command, or continue towards their fate in you and your government's hands. To face whatever punishment you and yours see fit.

Now, onto other issues. I'm going to require your planet's moon. In addition to 'New New Alamo', which is a terrible name, by the by, I'm going to be constructing a shipyard and adjacent facilities on the lunar surface. With additional defensive batteries, this will increase your planets, and the system at large's, stellar capabilities."

Resocialized soldiers possess little or no initiative, often react poorly to changing battlefield conditions and tend to lack the depth of personality one might find in an ordinary human. Unique talents and expertise are largely wiped away.

To add ot this:
Escort skilled workers fleeign form NOT CORUSCANT to NOT AMERICA with valkryies, arrnage for one smaller jump capable ship to remain in either system.

Establish mutual defense pact, if one world is attacked the BC form the other comes to assist.

MURRIKA gives refuges land, sends food supplies, and any surviving orbital control personnel to help with the whole ACCIDENT EVERY SIX FUCKING MINUTES deal.

No. Why should we tell everyone all of our secrets.
>>
>>25956643

Not until we actually have done the repurpossing.

Also, we don't need to bother with resocced or desocced marines, we can just train new ones or recruit from the MDF. Or the marine contingents from the Aeron.

Also, we need medics. Those can't get resocced.

>Donate resources to Murric's reconstruction.

>Send transports and escorts to Kilario to bring back skilled workers.

We're having Mac look over it. Hopefully his engineering prowress covers software as well as hardware.
>>
Engineer Guyver's report on A.I. SCVs is ready:

>"They're slower, but they can mine, and they don't have to worry about cancer or extreme radiation. I might have a better solution, though. We can use the Nomad to drill underground and have a base in one of the planetary cave systems, and use those for mining. It's... kind of risky, though. Too much mining and the whole thing can collapse."

I have November Phoenix's report ready:
>"Lot of old code here. What is this, Broodwars tech? Yeah, we can do it. Any pilot that gets near enough to drop them off might have a bad time though. I suggest we wait for solar shielding or mine somewhere else."

You board the Hercules with a ground team and set a course for New Albuquerque. Your fleet remains in orbit over Murric, in case they're needed to defend the Daluke.

The planet appears red with the occasional large blue lake, and patches of green. It's not -completely- desert, but it's pretty rough. You land at the largest port town and disembark.

Commander, I have several offers for available Schematics.

You, Whiskey, Charlie, and November make for the coordinates - a small, dingy Saloon in the city. You see the mentioned captain sitting alone at the bar in an otherwise populated and noisy establishment.

>"Captain James Raven."

He turns around, and looks at the four ghosts in turn. He then offers a big smile.

>"Come to collect the bounty 'ave ya? Well I surrender. Won't even give you an ounce of trouble. I am woefully repentant for all the wrongs I have-"
>"We're here for the job."

Whiskey didn't seem too interested in double-crossing him, and you hope he's paying more than a bounty would.

>"Ah, yes! Treasure abounds, mates! Riches undreamt of! Mineral deposits so vast and blinding that they will... blind you... vastly, I suppose."
>"Wot's tha' mission, lad?"
>"Right. Let me throw you a hypothetical. Let's say these treasures are... locked away. We don't have the key, so we can't open whatever it is we don't have that it unlocks. So what purpose would be served in finding whatever it is need be unlocked - which we don't have - without first finding the key what unlocks it?"

>"So we're going after a key?"

>"You're not making any sense, love. No! We're taking a Dominion encryption expert hostage, comprende?"

>"We're attacking a Dominion target?"

>"You lot have the craziest ideas. No, no. He's gone rogue. He's hiding... here... in this... very... bar.~"

You look over your shoulder, there are a large number of individuals present. Any one of them could be your target.

>"What's his name?"
>"Dunno, love."
>"What's he look like."
>"Actually, not sure it's a he."
>"How do you know he's even here?"
>"I have ways! Now, how do we go about catching our rapscallious encryptologist?"

You search his thoughts, first. He has no intention of betraying you but his thoughts are incredibly scattered and erratic. The Dominion has a bounty on him and it's much smaller than yours, so you don't think trying to collect is a good idea, although bugging out is always an option.

You signal the rest of your squad to block the exits, and you sift through the crowd, filtering out the thoughts of multiple drunks, pickpockets, mercenaries, and other generally pleasant folks. You make your way up the stairs to the second floor, slowly.

You detect another Psionic, curiously enough. A fat-ish man with a mustache furiously working at a computer terminal. You sense a few thoughts about some sort of ghost program, and inbound dominion specialists, when he senses you back. He makes a break for it and jumps - tumbles rather - over the railing to the first floor.

Codename: Whiskey Phoenix
sex: M

Psych Profile: Extremely unstable. Multiple deep-cover operations result in possible conflicts of loyalty. Recommend memory resocialization.
Status: Active, supporting fleet operations in Murric.

Charlie is closest and - Breaks his leg at the knee with a kick, withdraws her knife, and holds him by the neck with her other hand, in complete silence.

Well that works.

>"Hey, that bitch broke 'is leg!"
>"What did you call me!?"
>"I didn't call you nothin'!"
>"I'll show YOU NOTHIN!"

Unfortunately this results in a full blown bar fight. Stools begin to be tossed, glass shatters, James Raven stands by the bar sipping some girly drink out of a coconut as your men drag the Encryption Specialist out of the room. You walk past the captain, turn around, and pull him out as well.

You continue down a back alley for some ways until the noise dims.

>"Well done, love. Regular knockout. Now, onto business."

Raven saunters over to the man and kneels down.

>"I can assume you are Big Daddy Bison one three three seven, yes?"

>"Raven, you got all you'll get out of me, you slimy backwoods pirate. I knew you'd turn me in to the Dominion!"

>"Slimy and backwoods though I am, Dominion Lapdog I am not. These fine apparitions are but mercenaries in my valuable employ. Now I need the codes to the station, and you are going to give them to me."

>"Fine, they're on a disk in my front jacket. I hope you get what's comin' to you for thinking this is a good idea, Raven.."

>"Of course I will, it -is- a good idea! Ciao, Bison. You might need to get that leg looked at."

The man hobbles off in pain. You look to Raven.

>"Well then, laddies and ladies. To my ship!"

You follow behind him, but the urge to ask about your mission overwhelms November.

>"What exactly are you after, Raven?"
>"Oh, some Minerals, a bit of Vespene gas, some training schematics. It's all rather mundane I assure you."

He's clearly with-holding something. You sense bits and pieces, but he doesn't seem to fully understand it himself. Just that it could be worth a lot of money to the right people.

Eventually you come up on a guild-wars era dropship.
>"This is your ship?"
>"No, my ship was commandeered by a mutinous crew and their pirate compatriots. I had to eject before they killed me so mercilessly in the depths of space. Instead, we are heading to a cloaked platform in orbit around this silly planet for a very, very important starmap."

>>

Oh yes, I remember that.
>>
>>25959008

Out of idle curiosity, what's the bounty on Big Daddy Bison? And would he consider joining up with us if we don't choose to turn him in? We could send some of our ground force to round him up easily.
>>
>>25958938
We told everyone to do it you retard.
she just happened to be closest and acted first.
>>
>>25959045
Use of excessive force on operative Beta Bison means it is unlikely he will join us at this time.

The Dominion offers the bounty of 1.7 Million at this time.

Tactical Advisement: It is unadvised we accept Dominion bounties at this time.
>>
>>25959073
hah yes.

Pity Charlie broke his leg.

>Tactical Advisement: It is unadvised we accept Dominion bounties at this time.
That would be an awkward conversation at the bounty office

Heres a thought, if we go bounty hunting, and get a lowly crewmember of ours to hand in and collect the bounty, whats the chances of the dominion catching on?
>>
>>25959093
bad idea. Baaaaad idea.

No harm no foul in at least checking. Someone who keeps their head down that well is at least worth looking at.
>>

Bounty hunting for the dominion would be amusing because nobody would expect an rogue ghost to be so unfathomably stupid as to bounty hunt for the organization they are wanted by.

Is the QMs way of saying "No, don't try it, stop being dumb please"
>>
>>25959073

We could take him into custody. For his own protection, he'd understand. There's a high bounty on him, and it would be a shame if he were to be dumped in front of some Dominion marshal's office. We could even heal his leg with one of our medics, and offer him opportunities to hide from the Dominion on a well-defended, independent planet. If he won't accept, well, we can keep him in a cell til he rots. No biggie.
