This is Yellowman Quest, where you play mysterious voices in the head of a scout commander named Scott Yellowman that advise him. Yellowman, along with a trio of tiny aliens, a newman paladin, and a New Vegas bouncer, are caught up in an interdimensional death race for a grand prize of a wish.

Currently, Yellowman and company are stuck in the city of San Drad, overrun with xenomorphs. They're about to try and ram an APC through a swarm of them. Let's watch, shall we?

“Everyone hold onto something, this is gonna suck!” Scott shouts as he pushes the controls forward, launching the APC towards the sea of black shelled aliens. The vehicle becomes a blue of gray, angular armor as it speeds up, Elyse and Charlie holding tightly onto their seat restraints while Fat-Fot-Pot flies up into the overhead storage racks and takes refuge there.

The APC jolts and begins rocking and shaking as it strikes the alien swarm, running them down and squishing them underwheel as the vicious beasts attempt to leap onto the vehicle with no success. Scott swerves the APC from side to side to shake them off, and though several times the APC almost tips over or falls into a crater or pile of ruined cars, it maintains its course. Thanks to Scott's surprisingly talented driving and liberal use of the forward 20mm guns, which blaze to life shortly after entering the horde, the APC succeeds in smashing through to the other side of the assembled foe.

Elyse lets out a loud cheer, which Charlie gladly echoes as the swarm is left behind the speeding APC, but Scott coughs.

"That was close, but it's not all sunshine for news, kiddies."

"The APC's wheels and underbelly ate a lot of acid thanks to us just running over so many xenomorphs. It's holding together so far, a minor miracle in of itself, but we should be careful. That little bugstomp also ate a lot of ammunition," Scott says over his shoulder. "Any comments?"

"WATCH THE ROAD!" Elyse and Charlie both shout as Scott turns just in time to barely avoid slamming into the corner of a skyscraper.

"It's fine, it's fine!" Scott says, hastily turning the steering controls. "No need to pani-HOLY SHIT!"

>Encounter roll: 10
Bearing down on the APC, directly down the street it's on are a trio of massive aliens, each easily twice the size of a man.

"Can we turn... no we can't," Charlie says, answering his own question as the alien horde comes into view behind the APC.

"They followed us?!" Elyse shouts in disbelief.

"Persistent buggers ain't they?" Scott says, bracing himself. "If no one's got any bright ideas, I'm going to try and drive past them! Charlie, fire with the 20mms, open a path!"

>If you have a better idea than Scott, state it. Otherwise, roll 2d100 to proceed.

APC Structure: 70%. Ammo: 25%
>>
>>25801372
Can we take a turn and go down a side street? We should try to avoid more acid on the APC.
>>
>>25801372
Could Elyse cast a spell that would throw the Chrysallid Xenomorphs into the air, preventing them from being able to move with nothing to push off of? Would that be 1 spell or 3?
>>
>>25801372
Third idea is to have Elyse cast a spell to make the APC fly like a Hover System equipped DeLorean.
>>
>>25801635
What about a wall of force over the front of the APC, so when they try their roll it launches them up, over and behind the APC?

"All right, we'll just bulldoze through them! Elyse, cast a moving Wall of Force attached to the APC!" Scott shouts as Charlie fires the 20mms at the charging monsters.

"Right!" Elyse says, standing and beginning to chant loudly. The APC begins to glow with magic as a translucent field of blue energy begins to form in front of it. The energy field moves with the APC for a few seconds, then stops suddenly.

The APC does not.

With a sickening crunch, the front half the APC collapses inward as Elyse goes flying towards the front of the vehicle, her requirement of standing to cast putting her very life at risk. The wall of force shatters as the APC plows through it, spinning around in a circle as its momentum carries it directly towards the Chrysalis aliens. A chain of explosions rip through the vehicle's interior as several fires ignite in the interior, the sound of screaming filling Yellowman's ears...

Charlie's seat restraints not only save his life, but save him a great deal of pain. Between his natural toughness and the protection granted by the APC's heavy-duty crash harness, the few scratches he receives aren't enough to warrant any attention.

Fat-Fot-Pot is similarly lucky. Although extremely fragile, the tiny aliens' ability to hover in place as well as their location near the back of the vehicle saved them from any notable damage. Even now, they buzz around Yellowman's head, screaming at him to wake up.

Yellowman... Yellowman is barely holding on to consciousness. He manages to see Charlie rip himself out of the crash harness, whole and alive, and painfully turns his head to the side. Elyse is lying in a heap near the front of the APC, blood staining her once pristine armor and tabard. Yellowman himself cannot feel his legs, and everything seems to be happening in a haze of pain and confusion. Charlie is at his side, yelling something and pulling. Yellowman takes his hand and slowly begins to crawl from the wrecked driver's seat, his mind returning to him in steps.

The first thing noticed is the wetness soaking his pants just above the knee. The second thing noticed is the jutting shards of bone through his legs.

"What..." Yellowman murmurs as Charlie drags him out of the burning APC.

The third thing noticed is the ground is shaking, heralding the inexorable approach of the three giant Chrysalis aliens.

The fourth is the simple pulsing of Yellowman's card, indicating another racer is nearby.

>Yellowman loses 3 Wounds and his legs are broken.
> Charlie loses no wounds.
>FFP loses no wounds.
>Elyse, status unknown.
>APC destroyed.

Charlie try to get Elyse to drink a Potion.
>>

Since FFP is fine, have him go check on Elyse. Dump a healing potion down her throat or something. If she's dead, we'll need to put her body in the trunk if we can.

Yellowman needs two potions right now. Hopefully they heal broken bones. Hopefully the racer is Sam, he owes us one so we might be able to trade that for help. Can we see who the racer is?

Fat Fot Pot floats over to Elyse and a relieved cry goes up from the plant-self.

"She's OK! Well, no, she's not, she's unconscious and terribly injured, but she's alive!" Fat shouts while he dribbles sap over Elyse.

>Elyse is now at 2 Wounds.

The trained mimic walks over to Scott and opens up, allowing the beleaguered scout to grab a potion and swallow it, sealing the wounds shut, but not restoring his legs.
>3 Wounds after Adamant Armor, unaffected by Ablative Armor. Scott's shields are down, but the healing potion heals the bodily damage.

Charlie grabs a potion and goes back into the APC wreck, dragging out the bloody and still form of Elyse. Frowning as he looks over the unconscious paladin, he pops the top on a potion vial and pours it over the worst of her wounds. The magical liquid goes to work immediately, aiding Fat's efforts to keep the paladin out of the danger zone.
>Elyse is now at 3 Wounds.

>2 potions used.

The shaking increasing as the Chrysalis aliens near the group, letting out a shrill shriek as they charge in unison.
>>
>>25802549
From a nearby rooftop, a bolt of light cracks the pavement near one of the Chrysalis aliens, the same weapon that killed the sandlurk queen. While it fails to hit its target, one of the Chrysalis aliens stumbles on its impact crater and its charge falters. The other two bowl over Yellowman and Charlie, sending the bouncer down to the ground as they stampede past, then turn around to hiss a challenge as they close to melee once more

>Yellowman's Ablative Armor expended.
>Charlie takes a wound.

Scott grabs a pulse rifle from the trained mimic and levels it at one of the Chrysalis aliens, firing a high explosive contact grenade at the alien's feet and knocking it over, though not killing it.

"Damn it!" he swears. "I was aiming for the head!"

Charlie fires a three-round burst from Gertrude that tears into one of the others. It hisses as acidic blood begins to leak from its side where the carapace had been pierced.

"I can't bust out this early!" Charlie curses. "I've barely been dealt in!"

Fat dribbles the last of his healing sap over Elyse and gently rubs her face with his leaves. The newman paladin begins to slowly come to, a dazed expression on her face.

Meant to roll 5 dice, but it worked out.

From the roof another bolt of light catches one of the Chrysalis aliens in the head, causing it to explode in a shower of acid before it can near the downed racers. The alien Scott knocked over thrashes and screams and manages to right itself... only to be knocked back down with even more injuries as Scott fires another grenade at it.

"Stay down, this time!" Scott shouts.

The third giant alien suddenly lunges at Charlie, grabbing him by the shoulders and lifting him into the air before he can react. The monstrous extraterrestrial opens its jaws and a second mouth begins to slowly extend...

The sounds of gunfire and the squeal of tires on pavement can be heard in the background as the alien swarm slowly catching up to the APC ceases its pursuit and begins to move down a different street. The reason why is soon apparent as another APC with a large muscular man standing on top of it rolls past them, the man on top mowing down scores of aliens with a cybernetic arm with a gun mount.

Elyse lays her hands on Scott's leg and the scout screams in pain as the bones forcefully set themselves and knit back together, muscle and sinew reconnecting beneath the skin that was already sealed shut with a potion.

"Holy FUCK that hurt!" Scott breathes as he fires a sustained pulse rifle burst at the Chrysalis grappling Charlie. The ten round burst tears through the alien's shoulder, barely allowing Charlie to wriggle free and drop to the floor as the xenomorph's second mouth chomps into his shoulder inside of his head.

Another ten round burst goes wide from Scott as Charlie barely manages to free himself from the alien's clutches. He manages a single grazing shot with his shotgun before hitting the ground.

Elyse makes short work of the Chrysalis alien facing her, her new skills combining with the severe wounds of the alien guaranteeing her victory. However, it is not a flawless victory, as the venom weakens her further before her immune system nullifies it. A quick slash of the Photon Sword and the alien is slain after a fierce struggle.

Scott looks through the scope, first at the sniper. Even with the scope it's hard to get a lot of details, if for no other reason that the sniper is moving all over the place to make it harder for the yautja to lock onto her.

At this range, Scott manages to tell that the sniper is a woman, wearing heavily modified Ghost armor and wielding some sort of long rifle. A long blue ponytail hangs from the sniper's head, falling a little past the small of her back. Several time she vanishes only to reappear somewhere else. Scott blinks as he realizes something.

"Her cloak was damaged... She's teleporting all around the roof," he murmurs.

"Uh, boss?" Pot asks.

"Oh, right," Scott says, swinging the rifle around and lining up a shot at the Predator firing on her. The yautja makes aiming difficult, leaping from ledge to ledge to throw off the sniper's aim, but Scott manages to fire a single shot that strikes the alien's arm. The hunter roars in anger as it realizes it has new prey, then leaps off the rooftop and is lost to sight.

FFP, try to get onto a frequency that the Ghost uses.
Scott, may as well wave at the Ghost and thank her. Then see if the map computer in the APC is still operation, and try to orient us.

Charlie, Elyse, see any cars we can carjack around here?

And everyone be aware of the Yautja; he's got other weapons besides his plasma caster.

"Right! Here, lemme see your helmet..." Fat Fot Pot says, floating over to Charlie.

"Just don't get space goo on it, little fella," Charlie says, holding it for the alien while the three fiddle with it. Pot scoffs.

"They're SPORES thank you very much! Unless you mean Fat's sap..."

"I don't see any cars in usuable condition, but we're not that far from the target. Maybe we should just walk?" Elyse asks.

"Hey, we gonna leave our new pal up there? What if he needs help?" Charlie asks.

"Her. And thinking about that," Scott replies.

"Her? Ohoho, now I definitely think we should stay!" Charlie laughs.

"Noted. Let me get what I can off the APC, and then we'll see," Scott says.

"It's OK. I got a good look at the map," Scott says, returning from the APC after hearing Fat Fot Pot's apology. "If we want to go to the sewers, it's not that far. We can either stick to the streets or try to cut through the buildings."
>>
>>25806719
Xenomorphs thrive on CQC, and cutting through buildings gives them the perfect opportunity.

Hey, if the Ghost is still there, have FFP just fly up there. Stick close to the building, though, because the Yautja might still be around and have one of those Razor Discs.

Depending on how bad the damage is, the cloaking might be offline until he can get to a Yautja spaceship; since this is the only place he could get to one, he's likely to try to make contact with the Yautja here, but if he's REALLY pissed off, he make be irrational and try to ambush us. Fat Fot Pot flies up to the rooftop while the others wait patiently around the APC wreck. It's a good ten minutes before all of a sudden a woman in heavily modified Ghost armor appears in front of Yellowman. The most notable difference is that the Ghost mask has been altered. The re-breather is unaltered and in place, but the Ghost optics are centered on one eye, the other eye not covered by the mask. Said eye is ice blue and seems to glare at Yellowman with intensity. Her long rifle now slung over one shoulder, the sniper looks over the group before speaking.

"Your Zoq-Fot-Pik companion managed to make an oddly compelling argument, but time is short. You wanted to speak with me?" the racer asks.
>>
Thank her for the help, offer to let her travel with us due to safety in numbers.

I honestly have no idea what to say to her. I'm about 3 hours past my falling asleep point.
>>
>>25807407
"Yeah. First, thank you. For the time back in the previous world, and for saving our butts in this world.
"Second, Vincent Conti, some kind of mob boss that's in this race, he's getting his organization to help him cheat by smuggling him weapons and such. If you can kill his flunky, that should take out some of his smuggling help; apparently he's the one that makes the signal used by Conti's men to breach the dimensional jamming used by the Race organizers to prevent cheating like this.
"He's expecting some more cheats in less than an hour; got no idea what they're planning on bringing, though.
"Third, you don't have to join us, but me and my friends here, we're all Racers but we'll play a game of poker for the prize at the end. No need to try to kill each other when we can resolve it some other way.
"Finally, we heard from one of the other Racers that the Portal is in the sewers. We're trying to meet up with her, find where it is specifically. Your call if you want to come with us or search yourself."

I'm not asking her to join us, just to have a truce for now because a Xenomorph infested world is like a Zerg-infested planet; let's point our guns at the bugs until we're safely away from getting infected.
>>
>>25807640
>offer to let her travel with us due to safety in numbers.
Well, she can teleport and has a cloaking unit that's almost as good as a Predator's. I'd say she's safer alone, than traveling with a big group that'll attract xenomorph attention like us.

But yeah, general truce and let's not shoot each other when there's facehuggers, a cheating scumbag mob boss, and a pissed off Yautja around.
>>

"Well, you're welcome. And thanks for the heads up on Conti, I knew he was managing to have his goons drop things for him, but if that sidekick of his is setting it up, that'll make it easier to stop," she says, her arms holding her sides. "I'm sorry, but I can't accept your offer of a poker game. Make no mistake, I don't want anyone to die here that doesn't deserve it... I've gone out of my way for that, but I HAVE to win."

Her eyes narrow. "Even a poker game is too much a risk. Some stakes are simply too high to bet on."

"Baby, betting is all you CAN do when the stakes are high enough," Charlie says with a wink. The sniper gives him an icy glare.

"Say that when the stakes are your mother, or your father, or your whole family. Say that when the sort of thing riding on you isn't poker chips or credit chits, but souls and lives," the sniper replies, waving one hand. Charlie seems to shrink at the rebuke. "No. Some things require you to go at them full force. Make no mistake, I intend to win this race. I just won't let myself become more of a murderer by stooping to Conti's level."

"What about a temporary truce until we're off this damned world?" Scott asks. "I just said you didn't have to join us."

A pained roar echoes in the air and the sniper turns.

"Maybe. That'd be the yautja healing himself. Time's running out. Anything else?"

"Portal is in the sewers, guarded by two sentry guns. And be quick, we just saw the Main Characters for this world go by in an APC, which means that pretty soon, they'll be getting to the Weyland-Yutani ship at the spaceport, then overloading its reactors to nuke this entire city. You really want to be gone by then."

Alright, let's go to Ed's presumed location. We gotta hustle, now that we don't have an APC to ride in.

Sticking out in the open, Scott, Elyse, Charlie, and Fat Fot Pot make surprisingly swift progress along the now deserted city streets.

"Most of the aliens must've followed that crazy meathead on the tin-can," Charlie comments. "Lucky for us, eh?"

"Yeah, something like that," Scott replies, keeping a careful eye on his motion tracker. "Did the pred run off?"

"Maybe he left to chase down that sniper?" Elyse suggests.

"Man, what was her deal, anyway? That eye of hers, it gave me chills. I've seen that look once before, and that was way back when I saw this one broad asking around for clues about the Legion slaver that took her kids," Charlie comments. "Gotta be a story there, not sure I wanna know it."

"Wait..." Elyse says, her ears twitching as she looks around. Her eyes widen as she spots a trio of small red dots on Scott's chest armor.

"Get down!" she shouts, tackling Yellowman to the ground as a pair of razor sharp U-tipped spears zip over his head. She reflexively makes a gesture and a ball of fire roars towards a nearby building, exploding in one of the windows and outlining a large humanoid in fire. The yautja howls in pain, then leaps down to the streets.

"Fuck!" Yellowman exclaims, bringing his pulse rifle up. "Why didn't I get it on the tracker?!"

"It wasn't MOVING!" Charlie shouts, bringing up his own pulse rifle, having switch to it to conserve shotgun ammo. "It was WAITING!"

There are quite a few alien corpses dissolving in pools of their own acidic blood on the group's way to the waste processing substation, but nothing living bars their way.

The substation itself is a squat concrete building situated next to several large sealed vats ensconced in machinery. A single metal door with a computerized lock appears to be the main entrance. There are few windows, narrow and slit-like.
>>

Does this include the fishnet and can we convince Elyse to wear it?
>>

Check the windows, be careful just incase there's guns poking through the slits.
Maybe ask Elyse if she's okay and wants to talk or something? Ask her if she's dealt with Yautja before?
>>

Alright, let's check the computerized lock.

Have Fot take a look in through the windows, but don't go inside.
>>

I'd imagine the fishnet would've been burned with the body since that's its 'clothes'.

>>25821658
"Elyse you all right? Ever deal with yautja before?" Scott asks.

"I'm fine. Just not comfortable with stripping corpses is all. I know it's something that has to be done... I just find it unpleasant," Elyse says. "No, never before this."

"I checked around, windows are all sealed. No guns poking out," Charlie reports back to Scott.

"OK, we'll have Fot take a peek in through them, then," Scott nods. "I'll examine the lock in the meantime."

Scott walks over to the front door and begins fiddling with the lock-panel, removing an access port and using his electronics kit to interface with the system directly.

"All right, simple enough electronic lock. I just have to... uh, OK, not so simple. Well if I... no, that won't work either. Wait, no... No! This time I got it! I GOT IT!" Yellowman shouts. Suddenly a pair of blast doors slide shut over the front door. The scout commander winces. "OK, I don't got it."

>93
Fat-Fot-Pot fly over to Yellowman a few minutes later as he is still struggling with the control panel, getting increasing frustrated at his inability to do anything to what should be a simple hack job.

"Commander, Fot's had a look at the interior from all sections. It looks like there's no one in there anymore. Also, someone left the back door open."

Scott looks up from the partially disassembled control panel.

"...what?"

"There's a back door around the other side of the building. Someone left it open," Fat repeats.

Scott's eyebrow twitches and he grits his teeth. "...good. That's very good. You did a good job."

"Hear that fellas?!" Fat happily says. "We did good!"

"Yes!" Pot cries, leaping up a bit on his hover disc. "We rock!"
>>
>>25822166
Damn, Ed must have already gone ahead. Lets go in through the back door and see if Ed left us a message about where the Portal is located, and if there's a car we can use in the parking lot.
>>

"No, I know that, and even if I didn't, he tried to kill us! We just defended ourselves," Elyse says.

>>25822017
"I'll try to keep that in mind, but the yautja have a really bad reputation in the Crusade," Elyse says with a frown.
>>
>>25822244
Oh? Care to share, I'm curious as to what they say?
Generally I try to treat them like anyone else. If they're trying to kill me, I'll fight back. If they're willing to help save the earth from xenomorphs, I'll have their back. I mean, I've seen humans do some horrible shit too, at least you can usually count on most Yautja to be honorable.
Speaking of honor. Elyse, if you ever encounter a fighter named Akuma, don't fight him. Don't even look threatening. He'll probably ping as evil, but it's seriously one box that Pandora would be better not opening.
>>
>>25822340
"Just that the yautja usually don't give a damn about other sapients except as fodder for their hunts," Elyse replies.

>>25822203
"I can see where the reputation comes from, but I know at least a few that were exceptions to that," Scott remarks. "Anyway, let's get into the substation now that Fot found a way."

Entering through the back door, the interior of the substation is indeed deserted, though as the group makes its way past banks of monitors and control stations, they begin to note a lot of damage. Several consoles have been smashed to bits, there are bullet holes in the walls, and blast craters marking where machinery used to be.

"That's not good," Scott remarks.

"No, but the fact it happened to someone else is," Charlie comments. "How's the tracker, Scott?"

"Nothing in range," Yellowman replies.

"Hey there's a sign over here that says 'Sewer Access!" Pot excitedly reports.
>>

Can anyone tell the caliber of the guns used here?

Any shells or casings about? It might not be much, but we might be able to see if some exotic weapons were used here.

"Wh-wh-wh-what sort of calender IS this?!" Elyse exclaims as she stumbles across the workstation of a particularly lonely worker.

>93
"We found a working security station!" Fat calls as the others slowly make their way to the three tiny aliens, who hover around a monitor bank that is still active. Fat pushes a few buttons and the screens flicker back to previously recorded times. He presses a few more and a handful of cameras activate in the sewers. One of them just barely shows two sentry guns swiveling on its left border.
>>
>>25822846
Which area of the sewers is that camera with the sentry guns?
Any indication of Xenomorphs or other racers with the cameras?

And look for a map of the sewer system.
>>
>>25822846

Ares Corp? That's a Shadowrun corporation, isn't it?

I hope that Six-Slash Sam didn't think to get some revenge on Ed. Especially with all the Xenomorphs faffing about.

Those sentry guns are going to be murderous in such a tight tunnel, but with little other means of transportation, it might be safer going through there than in the streets.

Yes, Sam uses an Ares Predator pistol.
Either he came and tried to kill Ed, or Ed hacked his cyberware and used him as a combat doll.
>>

"Does the computer have a map?" Scott asks.

"Let me see... yep! Here!" Fat says, tapping a few more keys and bringing up a large map of the sewer system with a few red dots on it. "The red dots are the active cameras."

"Can you isolate the camera with the guns?" Scott asks.

"Let me see... Yes! That one."

"Area D-13... Got it," Scott murmurs, tapping the screen where the only remaining red dot is after they wink out one by one. "All right, give me a minute to figure out a route there."

"Looks pretty q- wait, nope," Charlie says, looking at some of the other monitors. "No sign of any of the other racers, but there's a few aliens still lurking around. Most seem to be streaming towards the other side of the city."

"The gate's not that far, I think. Just about twenty minutes walk," Scott reports, looking back from the map.

"If we keep up our pace, we might be able to get out of here before Conti manages to bring in whatever he's trying to bring!" Elyse says, brightening.

Charlie bursts out laughing. "I was saying you were dumb, not easy! Whose mind is in the gutter now?"

>Encounter rolls: 89, 65, 100.

With careful use of the motion tracker, Scott is able to lead his team through the maze-like sewers while avoiding most of the few nested or patrolling aliens not scrambling to heed whatever invisible call they hear. What few aliens they cannot bypass they quickly and quietly eliminate with plasma, pulse, and divine fire.

There is a bit of a scare when a group of warriors drop from the ceiling among the group, but Elyse's new skills combined with the adrenaline boosted shooting of Scott and Charlie make short work of them. Several times the group passes large groups of slain aliens, indicating the struggles of past racers.

At least twice they encounter blast doors left open, big animated smilie faces where the computerized lock's readout should be. In a windfall, they discover a discarded smartgun rig with a 500 round drum left at the site of a particularly large battle. A pair of humanoid-shaped holes let in light from the surface.

>Gained Smartgun
>The Smartgun cannot miss or strike friendlies. Rolls only determine whether or not it manages to hit a critical area.

Only after five more minutes of tense creeping since finding the smartgun does Scott hold up his hand to stop. The gentle mechanical swiveling sound of activated sentries can be heard from just ahead.
>>
>>25824078
Scott, use the Mirror we got to look around the corner. The mirror should be small enough to not trigger the sentry guns.

FFP, see if you can get a IFF ping from the sentry guns to see if the IFF beacons on our comm sets in the Marine/SWAT helmets will be accepted by the guns.
>>
>>25824218

If that doesn't work, Elyse could cast a barrier spell while one of the guys tries to snipe the guns. Or some sort of reflection barrier so that the turrets will ping themselves.

Do we have any grenades left?

Scott uses the mirror and looks around the corner with it. The robot sentries are indeed the ones by the gate, because Scott can see the gate directly behind them. Not to mention his card is pulsing in the way that indicates the proximity to the gate.

"Uh... No?" Fat Fot Pot says. "I mean, there's no way for me to tell with the gear we have with us. If we had like, a really good hacking kit or something..."

"I could step out and see if they fire at me before heading back to cover," Elyse offers. "I'm pretty sure they won't be able to kill me right off and I can just heal the wounds."
>>
>>25824297

That might not be the best idea. If those sentry guns are meant to put down Aliens, then they're probably going to put out an absurd amount of rounds per second.

If we really wanted, I guess we could get a long stick or something and stick one of the SWAT helmets on it, then use that helmet-stick to see if the guns will fire on it.

We could also try our luck with tossing grenades around the corner using the mirror as reference and seeing if that'll knock the turrets out.

Yellowman, how far are the turrets down there from your estimate? Think you could lob/bounce grenades that far down?
>>
>>25824297
Use the crowbar to dangle Elyse's helmet around the corner to see if the IFF works. It's safer.
>>
>>25824434

>>
>>25824707

They might be programmed to fire at the BACK of the racers instead of the front. We may still want to do the Combistick-helmet test at the other side of the guns just to be sure.

Although, if Ed was here first, she'd probably hack the turrets to ensure that they don't fire on her as she passed. It might have been general enough of a hacking job to only target Xenomorphs or ignore human-sized targets.
>>

>Elyse Skill Suggestions

Clearcaster: Upon using this skill, Elyse can ensure that the next spell she casts will always have a minimum degree of success. (Clearcasted spell cannot fail; however, rolls can still dictate how powerful it will be).

Divine Insight: Elyse gains two more castings of Divine Magic spells and two more Tech castings.
>>
>>25825418
No those are on top of that.
>>
>>25825752
Clearcaster is too powerful given that the limiting factor of Elyse's spell system is that more powerful spells are harder to cast. With that skill, you could just use it and then cast "Kill All Other Racers" or something.

If you make it a skill where the spell cannot critically fail and gives a large bonus, say +20 or so, then it would work. Three uses a session sound OK?

Then again of course you still have the previous options as well.
>>
>>25825806
>>"Kill All Other Racers"
Suddenly Kubo-tier trolling, "I was never actually a racer."
>>
>>25825763
Then I shall update the skills now.
I'll also begin counting up ammo used.
>>
>>25825806

Ah, right. Didn't know that the Divine Magic was a flexible sort of spell.

Here's the re-worded skill:

>Clearcasting
Upon using this skill, Elyse ensures that the next spell she casts cannot critically fail. Said spell also gains a +20 bonus.
>>
>>25826021
Make clearcasting remove critical successes too. Or maybe you can reword it as a super-gamble skill: Increase crit ranges. Make it much easier to crit fail as it is to crit sucess.
>>
>>25826121

>Clearcasting
Upon using this skill, Elyse ensures that the next spell she casts cannot critically fail and gains a +20 bonus to the dice result. However, the spell cannot critically succeed either (max dice result of 80, plus bonus).

Or here's another version if we're feeling lucky:

>Wondrous Recall

After casting a Divine Magic spell or Technique, Elyse has a chance of casting the spell/tech for free. However, more potent Divine Magic spells will be harder to recall.
>>
>>25826326
Cool.
>>
>>25826326
I'd prefer to keep the critical success for the Clearcasting by making it limited to 3 times per session. We're unlikely to use it that many times in a single session.
>>
>>25825763
MetaOP, how much ammo was used during the trip from Sub-Station Sewer Access to the Portal?
Or did we recover enough ammo from the battle site where we got the smartgun that we effectively used no ammo?
>>
>>25826572
>>Clearcasting
Upon using this skill, Elyse ensures that the next spell she casts cannot critically fail and gains a +10 bonus to the dice result. However, Elyse cannot gain additional Skills or Traits from a Clearcasted spell crit.

For a skill that can be used 3 times per session, I think +20 might be a bit much, given the flexibility of Elyse's magic.
>>
>>25825806
Oh, MetaOP! I just remembered! Did we get the Predator Racer's Racer Tarot Card?
>>
>>25826619
>For a skill that can be used 3 times per session, I think +20 might be a bit much
Well, the way it was worded here >>25826326
Clearcasting could be used as many times as she has spells, just that she can't crit succeed.

I don't think it's overpowering at all, especially with our rolls like they are.
>>
Another question, MetaOP:
Is Elyse's Mag capped at 10 Charges? Or does its attack merely cost 10 Charges?
It'll mean the difference between her currently being at Charge 1 and Charge 2.

Right, but I'm just saying that we started this session and Fat's 2 uses of Sap were reset, and we haven't used them yet.
We should use them during this break so that they're reset when we get to the next world.
There's no telling how much of a beating we'll take, and there's actually a lot of damage to heal.
Charlie and Elyse both need 2 Wounds healed each, and Scott needs 1 Wound healed.

2 uses of Sap on Charlie, 1 Tech heal on Scott, and the last Tech use on Elyse, and she sleeps in the Magic Bedroll for the last Wound.
Then when we get to the next world, all abilities reset and we're fully healed.

"Yeah, I know. I'm actually fairly familiar with Amestris, though I'm no specialist," Yellowman replies. "The Gate of Truth... if it's not already summoned somewhere... wouldn't we need to find someone to summon it for us? None of us are alchemists."

>Crit success: Yellowman will autopass most Lore checks for the next Stage.

"Well, like I said, it would depend on where in the timeline we are.
"If we're near the end of the series, we just have to hide and sneak in after Edward while avoiding the Homonculi into the sunken city, and go through the Gate then. Or if it's when they're kids, wait until they try to revive their mother."

Anyway, the Gate looks like the one from the 2003 FMA anime, and not the 2009 version/manga.

You enact this plan to heal everyone to full health.

>>Vignette Spacer: OP is too tired to write one properly now, but this is a good place for a vignette, and will be revisited later.<<

Are you prepared for the next stage?
>>
I believe so. If Scott were to acquire a book on alchemy, would he be able to use it?

Assuming that everyone slept, and we'll get to come back to this point later for more character development, I suppose we're ready.
>>
>>25827841
It isn't known, but you certainly don't have the years it takes to learn alchemy.

The pocket plane fades away at your mental command and you wake up in what looks like a dark alley.

FFP, scout the area a bit.
Scott, what time of day does it look like?

Elyse's paladin armor has repaired itself, hasn't it?
That's what I put down, anyway.

We need to finish up selecting skills, stats, and abilities before we get into a fight.

My vote is for >>25825700
for all things.

"It's really dark out, and it's definitely winter," Scott says, shivering at the sudden change from Californian heat to Amestrian winter.

>>25828037
It has.

Roll a d100.

That was embarrassing. Try that again.

Fat-Fot-Pot buzz around for a bit and when they return, Fat and Pot say in unison.

"This city is huge!"

"We didn't see any traces of other racers yet, but like the last place, that doesn't mean much when the city is this big," Fat says.

"Oh! We did see a train station, though... and it looks like there's a big fortified building at the center of the city," Pot replies.

"And most of the city is lit up with streetlights!" Fat says. "That's good, right?"

Calling it for the night. Next session might be tomorrow, possibly picking up from this thread again if it's still around. If not, probably Tuesday again.

Taking into account that we need Repair to do engineering as well as to fix our Ablative Armor, I propose this skill layout:
+3 Longarms/Rifles
+2 Heavy Weapons
+2 Investigation
+3 Repair/Engineering

We still have the SULC, and now we have the Smartgun, so we should increase Heavy Weapons, and we need Investigation for this stage because we need to learn where in the timeline we are, and to track down Edward Elric to find the Portal.

I really want to get these skills locked in so that we can use them when we start the next session.
