For the second time in the past month, you are crawling out of your own coffin. How terribly undignified. Not to mention that your attacker has undoubtedly ruined your beautiful dress with blood.

However, the attempt on your life has clarified things considerably for you.

There are only two individuals who might want your doll. Only one of them would also want you dead.

Agen Lioncourt, formerly of Mori.

He has attempted to kill you. It's only fair that you return the favor, and take back your doll into the bargain.

If your Espowye warriors are worth anything at all, you'll have your teeth in his throat by the end of the night.

"Scarlet."

She nods.

"Bring me my armor."

You are Isabella Katarina Markova, twelfth of the line of Carmilla, thirteen generations from Dracula, the First. This places you with enough blood and power to make you a minor noble in Shadescast, the city of vampires, and possess your own castle- which does not necessarily have normal geometry, and which is not always in the same place. Though your physical appearance is that of a young girl, you are actually three and a half centuries old.

You spend your time responding to requests from other vampires for lore, and holding tea parties and other social events, both with humans and vampires. On occasion, you indulge in adding one or two of them to your collection of porcelain dolls...

Recently, you were attacked by a human vampire hunter who managed to temporarily kill you. Upon rising from death, you turned him into your faithful hound... but first he managed to majorly deface your castle and burn a portion of your library, including some hard-to-replace texts. Signs point to him having been hired by a rival vampire... one who was here, and took one of your dolls. Your first suspect wasn't the culpritā€¦ but that didn't stop you from eating him.

You have turned the Mayor of Mark into your soft, gooey servant. This is useful to you due to your airship yard there, which you got for a song off of a fellow vampiric noble by the name of Blackford. The deal took a little screaming at the foreman, but once it was sorted out, you returned to your castleā€¦

Which was when you found that one of your servants had disappeared. Fortunately, Scarlet, one of your Dolls' creations, dragged her back to the Castle for you. In return, Scarlet was given the girl as her maid.

Five minutes later, you almost ate Scarlet after taking backlash from a failed scrying attempt.

Since then, your head maid attempted to assassinate you with cutlery and is being held for experimentation on, and you have taken an enemy vampire's fief by the old tradition of murder.

It's getting harder and harder to fit the story-so-far into 2,000 characters. So here's the archive of past threads:

A personal note:
Apologies for the excessively long wait. I came down with worldbuilder's disease (Ooh, all these ideas would be awesome for VDQ! Let's keep thinking about how to make VDQ better and NOT ACTUALLY RUN THE DAMN THING!)

Yeah, sorry about that.

The massive gates from your castle into Shadescast are wrenched open, and onto the descending steps of the cliff face lopes a pack of snarling, chitinous hounds, each bearing their own a tattooed and scarred rider.

You sit at its heart, upon the most massive warbeat of all, white ceramic mask covering its face, but for razor-sharp teeth dripping black saliva. To your right, a woman with hair of blood; to your left, a thorn-wreathed angel. Before you sits the Huntmaster, leader of the pack; but he is not the one who will lead this hunt.

You raise a sorcerous spear in one carefully-manicured hand.

"My attendants, my creations! Bearers of the line of Dracula, standard-bearers of night back to the beginning! Shadow warriors and bearers of starlight!

WE RIDE, to destroy the FALSITY in the BLOOD! WE RIDE, to RETURN your LOST SISTER to OUR SERVICE! WE RIDE, TO RESTORE HONOR TO THE NAME OF MARKOVA!"

You kick your chitinous hound, and bound down the rocky crags- a charge that will only end at the gates of Agen Lioncourt.

No, it doesn't affect Celerity. Armor is not that heavy.
>>
Oh hey, you're still alive. Did I miss a thread or something? Did the assassination attempt go off?
>>
>>25757939
Yeah, people overestimate its heaviness and how cumbersome it is. It certainly wouldn't restrict a vampires movement much.

You slam the haft of your spear against the gates of Agen's castle.

"Open up, Lioncourt! Or are you too afraid to face a CHILD yourself, rather than sending PAWNS to do your bidding?"

A servant opens the door, and looks at you as if you've just said something terribly stupid.

"Agen is not receiving visitors, child. Go back to your castle; you may not enter!"

The fool thinks that the threshold will save him.

You have a /spear/.

You don't even have to touch the threshold to make a wonderful red puncture wound in his throat.

Even before he has hit the floor, you have spurred your wolf on into the hall.

You might not be able to walk in. But you can be carried.

The only question is: can you stay conscious after going through the threshold of a centuries-old castle?

What do we know of Agen's abilities? Is he powerful in eeriness, ferocity, or intelligence?

Do we know of any high profile staff he's got?

Did we get the illusionist from last time?

If not, be on guard for illusions (of course)
>>
>>25758095
The power of the threshold hits you like an ancient cliff wall, as immovable as fate, as unconquerable as time.

But you are burning from within with rage, and your will is like iron. You strike the diamond-hard ward of ages with intent like a hammer, and it fractures, and shatters.

It costs you precious strength; your head pounds and your veins rush. But you are beyond the threshold of Agen's court.

Your pack spreads out, running down the staff in the hall before they have time to mount any kind of defense.

Your wolf stalks through the halls, searching, scenting... And finds a familiar scent, the scent of a stranger that once gave him a mission, in another life, another time.

The hounds bay, and give chase.

>>
>>25758285
We've dealt heavily with twisting flesh to our needs, both mentally and physically. Ideally we would be well poised to be able to stage a counter domination effect; possibly striking multiples at once. If we meet with fleshcrafted troops that seem weak mentally, the very first time we'll hit them with a domination effect.

Just once, mind you. He'll be waiting for a second time for us to let our guard down to try it again. Keep up just behind the hounds. With the 26 we should be able to make it fairly easily.

We've got the discipline to burn a bit more blood, I think.
>>
>>25758445
Oh, if we're able to, give Scarlet some advance notice to keep an eye out for an immediate counterattack if we do this, as well (wait, is Scarlet following us? Or not?)
>>
>>25758325
Your hounds tear through the hallways of the castle. Guards appear from hidden doorways, from concealed trapdoors, from every nook and cranny of the fortress- but always behind you, always too late. Not fast enough. Not prepared enough. Not intelligent enough.

You burst into a study just as Agen disappears through the opposite door, slamming it behind him in a terrified haste.

You don't bother with the door. Your hounds simply smash through it. Agen runs, runs for his life; the pack snaps at his heels, tears at his clothes, but just as they are about to run him to the ground, he turns suddenly into a hidden passage. You follow, almost close enough to touch him- but he is going upwards now, into a night sky filled with stars. Your pack cannot follow him now; and you can hear the clamour of guards. You scream to your forces to take the castle and retrieve your doll, and follow Agen upwards into the night.

>>
>>25758644
Ah, ze children of the night.

But no, what you do, is have an arranged marriage, so that your child and the other person's child are both madly in love with each other, by mindcuddling them both to love each other with the force of a thousand suns with all the effect that that would have on vampire physiology.

Is it ethical to mould someone into a true partner for someone else? I could see two vampires who've fallen in love with each other deliberately leaving holes in their mental defenses to each other so they can both be dominated entirely by the other; though I'm not sure if that'd be beneficial (you can't dominate someone who's been so thoroughly ingrained to love, right?) or negative (open security holes will create exploits).

It's very romantic, though, in it's own warped way.

Agen gathers the night to him, becoming one with the sky and stars. Even your magic isn't enough to pierce his veil.

Too bad he's in such a hurry he forgot to cloak his scent and heartbeat. You bear down on him like a thunderbolt; he can't shake you. He does the only thing he can- keep running, discarding the half-formed veil as he devotes all he has to speed.

You duck and weave between marbled columns, face each other across lonely rooftops, feint and harry through the night sky. But you are faster, and Agen is running out of tricks. He cannot run forever.

Agen turns again, his wingbeats a little slower than before, and dives. You follow him, screaming through the clear night skyā€¦

And almost slam directly into a massive looming shadow.

What theā€¦?

It's an airship.

You're too slow to bear him to the ground yourself, but this could be your only shot at him before he summons soldiers to his aid.

As you wing closer, you carefully aim...

And hurl your spear directly through his shoulder, pinning him like a butterfly to the hull of the ship.

He screams in pain, and from around the other side of the hull you can hear the sound of someone raising the alarm.

As you arrive on the ship yourself, Agen tears the spear from his flesh, and faces you resolutely. From around the corner, a group of uniformed men piles out, leveling loaded muskets. Agen screams for them to shoot you, but they remain wary. Again he yells, but there is only pain in his voice, not power.

The soldiers level their weapons at both of you.

The soldiers' eyes flick towards the bloodied Agen, and as they do, you roll towards the nearest and tear his guts out. His suprised companions have no time to react as you cut your way down the line with your bloody nails; and from behind you, screams announce the arrival of your angel.

You turn from your slaughter to witness Agen hurl your spear into your angel's chest; then he dives down a hatch in the floor of the ship, still clutching his wound.

The sound of him hitting the bottom of the ladder is matched by the sound of your angel hitting the deck. With no time to tend to your fallen creation, you rip your spear from his gut and sprint for the top of the ladder, the sound of military alarm ringing all around you.

There is no threshold here for you now.

All those within are now intruders in your castle.

And there is a doll here who was taken from her sisters.

They will be very, very, angry.

On second thought, perhaps you don't need to do anything. The problem will take care of itself.

You whistle to yourself, listening to the orchestra of screams ringing through the halls; you tap your toe against the floor. It has a sort of beauty to itā€¦

Seized by a sudden impulse, you whirl and dance all through the halls to your sanctum, punctuated by the beat of your rapid-fire tongue.

We should definitely treat Angel to a reward, though, if he did manage to drug Agen.
>>
>>25759839
Yup, older generation, 10th instead of 13th, we're Lioncourt now, which is good since we hated the name Markova for personal reasons.

We kind of hit him with overwhelming force, and he was not the physical type of vampire, he was a lot like us in terms of skillset, he did not focus on Ferocity, and while we didn't either we just ate that other guy recently and that strengthened us a lot, he aimed for occult knowledge, intelligence, manipulation, and some fleshcrafting. We never gave him a chance to bring that to bear.

What we did was sic a horde of Murder Puppies with Tattooed Monster Hunters riding them on his defenses, that overwhelmed most of it, we poisoned him with Angel, we had a spear that said Monster Hunters made and blessed to fuck over Vampires, and then we rolled really well.

I think for the moment, timeskip while we consolidate Agen's holdings into our own. How do our castles interact? Do they merge? Or something?

We need to set each of our toys to be trained again. What can we salvage from Agen's entourage? We might just fleshcraft them all, but we might just twist their loyalties to us, as well. "Agen's blood is now mine; and so you serve him by serving me" coupled with dominance for example.
>>
>>25760750
Well that's snazzy. We also got our doll back.

We just nommed Agen and have all his stuff to look through, did he decide to fuck with us because of what we did, causing that riot in Mori?

Could we get a better idea of what we just gained in resources?

We need to consolidate that, and especially make sure that any servants are loyal to us now, not Agen.

Some people a while back were suggesting throwing a party, honestly with the change of name this might be a good time to hold a party, invite people over, socialize a bit, build up some more contacts, and we can even invite our sister to our little gala to show off.

We'll need to prepare properly of course, we'll have to make sure the staff is ready, that there are plenty of snacks, all sorts of things. What can you tell us about Vampire parties?
>>
>>25760824
After we consolidate everything, we need to celebrate our new name while rubbing our sister's face in it.
>>
>>25760824
Looking through Agen's notes, it would appear that the riot you started in Mori was... rather a larger event than you thought.

It would appear that the small riot you started escaping from prison resulted in a number of political prisoners being let loose, who then went on to become known as symbols of freedom under the Republic of Mori, and sped up many nations' conversion to the Mori cause.

You might well be the reason why the Republic of Mori exists the way it does today.

Completely unintenitonally, of course, but...
>>
>>25760885
now, mocking our sister isn't nice.
>>
>>25760885
Well not that explicitly, more of a showing off thing, less directly rubbing it in her face, more just us sending the message that we're not moping and feeling sorry for ourself anymore. And we don't have the stupid name Markova any more, she'll understand that message more than anyone else. Other than that we can be perfectly polite to her.

We also have other stuff to consolidate.

We need to populate that village we have in Ulvenwald for something, maybe production of some material, we'll use the Hounds and the Espowye to clear out any of the nasty critters and bring their bodies back to us for amusing Fleshcrafting shenanigans.

We need to add more Resources into our Wardrobe and make sure us and our Servants are properly dressed.

We can also put a bit of a Fleshcrafting Expo into the party, have some of our nicer examples of Fleshcrafting around so people recognize the stuff we've done, we don't show everything of course. Before any party we'll want to make a lot of interesting unique things.

We'll want to sift through Agen's Servants for useful and interesting people, as well as ensuring their loyalty.

Oh, we might be Hungry, we should sate that on someone we don't care about.

>>25760998
Oops, well, hopefully that doesn't come back and bite us in the ass, again.
>>
>>25760824
The resources Agen has will take some time to consolidate in full, but you know he has contacts in the Victorian Inquisition and a castle in Ulvenwald, which is likely this one.

As the castle is larger now, it can support more doors without becoming overtaxed.

But the largest resource you've gained is time.
>>
>>25761153
I'll let you discuss things a bit longer for the moment.
>>
I'm actually against a party.

I prefer to climb the ladder and catch up/surpass to the sister without letting her know. Catching people by surprise is the best, and avoids them trying to stop us. Or at least reduces the number of potential adversaries. Which is also good.
>>
>>25761153
Okay, so we'll want to look through any correspondence, files, papers, and the like Agen had. It might be hard to track down his contacts in the Inquisition, but very worthwhile.

Also, does he have any interesting Fleshcrafting or Magic books that we don't already have for us to peruse?

Has Isabella stopped singing and dancing since she got the name Lioncourt? I think not, and it might be confusing the hell out of everyone else.
>>
So, our objectives now are:

-Consolidate Agen's holdings into our own.
-Expand investments and Influence (hopefully in a discreet manner)
-Make the abandoned village useful
-Fleshcrafting. Fleshcrafting everywhere.
>>
>>25761204
We really can't catch up to her alone, you need allies, contacts, friends, relationships, and so on. And there's no way in hell our Sister, or really anyone who we take an interest in, won't know that we're up to stuff, they're not exactly stupid and people notice when other Vampires kick the bucket.

Throwing the party lets us network, get a higher client base, show off our Fleshcrafting to get more people to come in for consultations as well as prove that we're dangerous enough that coming after us is a terrible idea.

We don't rush throwing the party, we wait until stuff is consolidated, we have enough cool Fleshcrafting projects to show off, everyone in our Household is properly prepared for it and looking sharp, and we have gathered all the things needed for a proper Vampire party which probably involves a lot of bleeding people.

Also, we'll get to introduce Scarlet to high society which ought to be amusing.
>>
>>25761246
Additional ideas:

Take control of a criminal gang in eyesocket, through intermediaries ofc. Use it to dispose of our counterfeit money.

Continue to train up scarlet. She's our second in command and deserves an education and abilities to match.

Fleshcrafting. Specifically, complete our chess set
>>
>>25761285
She needs to be better trained first anyway.
>>
>>25761285
Adding to my post here.

We need to continue Scarlet's education in all sorts of things before we throw the party, she needs to know all manner of etiquette, proper behavior, poetry, writing, dancing, heraldry, and so on.
>>
>>25761307

Speaking of Fleshcrafting, between all of the chattel we have available and can get more of, and the woodland creatures we'll have the Pack and Espowye acquire for us we have a lot of material.

We want a variety of things, both for our own purposes, and to show off our versatility.

We'll want some human looking ones that won't be detected as inhuman, keep the human shape, but reinforce the muscle and bone underneath, enhance the senses by a fair bit, put concealed weapons in the legs and arms that can come out for proper murderosity. Have some more lithe, fast, and fragile to act as assassins, some bigger and tougher to act as guards that can be taken in public.

We'll want more household guards, we want something that can work in concert with our toy soldiers, the toy soldiers form ranks and fire, we take tough and rather tall humanoidish bodies, bind full plate to them to conceal them and make them look like decoration, give them axes, swords, shields, that sort of thing. Try for a knightly personality sworn to us. For some of them we could add large ranged weapons like cannons, giant crossbows, for the crossbow having a chain on the end of some bolts and barbed heads in order to impale things and restrict their movement may be fun.

For outdoors troops we can take things like bears and other large Ulvenwald beasts, make them into pretty much centaurs, but you know, not horses, get some light cavalry with ranged weapons and some heavy cavalry covered in armor with lances and sword/axe, to break right through things on a reasonably open battlefield.

Flyers, we'll want light flyers, akin to the late Angel, for scouting and harassing. We'll also want some Grotesques/Gargoyles, large, tough flyers.

Also, continue growing our garden, I like our garden. Spend time with the Pack, they all deserve some attention for having done a good job. And Ahote, I find him amusing, spend some time with him, chat about the future, have him tell us some stories of his people.
>>
>>25761579
I think we should also look for a new head maid, and maybe a bodyguard that we don't fleshcraft so we have someone to bring with us when we go into places with a lot of humans.
>>
>>25761246
Agen's holdings probably won't need too much sorting out. If they're too hot (The Viccy Inquisition contacts and such) then we can drop them, but land and money will be pretty easy. The second task goes hand in hand with the first, in this case.

I'm not sure what we want to do with the village, really. Maybe have the tribe live there if they don't want to live in Castlevania? We can just create a doorway to the village for easy access.

Fleshcrafting is definitely high up on the agenda, now. We need an army, and to create an army, we need a lot of feedstock. This is where Eyesocket comes in. We already know that the Eyesocket nobles are all the typical mad scientist type, so they are probably siphoning off the lower classes for experimentation. If we begin to rapidly drain those resources, they're going to start suspecting that something is up, *however*, they will probably suspect other Eyesocket Nobles, leading to a splintering of whatever strenuous alliances already exist which will just make it that much easier to subvert and dominate whatever resistance remains.

tl;dr, Start grabbing people from the streets of Eyesocket like it's a slave market fire sale.
>>
>>25761579
Completely forgot about the forest creatures. In addition to the Eyesocket feedstock, we can nab the leftover experiments that have been dumped into the Ulvenweld by the Eyesocket nobility and recycle them.
>>
>>25761285
Gotta wonder how Sister Dearest will react to being replaced. I mean, sure, she basically left Isabella behind when she moved on, but still.

This is going to be a crazy awkward family reunion.
>>
Also, I wonder if we can sort of combine our castle with the late Agen's castle
>>
>>25761924

Already done.
>>25760750
>>
>>25761953
ah, sweet, didn't see that.
>>
>>25761579
Tin soldiers are fine as household guards. They need a commander variant, though, because they're dumb as bricks and have literally no initiative. Maybe a 1 commander to 10 soldier ratio, to ensure that they aren't left without guidance? They should be heavily armoured with large shields, too. The tin soldiers are already pretty well armoured due to their, er, 'unique' anatomy, so combine that with plate armour and we should end up with something that can take a cannonball to the face and get back up afterwards.

Not really a fan of the centaur idea. Our fast attack role is already occupied by the hounds. What we are lacking, however, is some form of heavy assault. Something huge, with multiple heavy melee weapons and some ranged capability for distance closing and covering fire. Should be able to wrestle a tank, ideally.

Scouts I can agree with. Take the basic angel design, remove the legs, add an extra set of wings, remove the lower torso, and replace one of the arms with a weapon. Some form of crossbow for scouting, and maybe a large repeating rifle for straight up aerial offense. Maybe add a sort of bladed tripod at the base of the spine, both for aerial melee, divebombing, and so that they can actually land.

I think that covers all the bases? Well, except battlefield support, but that phrase applies to a whole bunch of different roles so we can probably cross those bridges when we get to them.

We could just make these guys. They work as fast attack, ranged offense, scouting and in a pinch, heavy support.

Give it two crossbows or rifles, or four pistols instead of a bow. Or maybe two swords and two pistols? I dunno man
>>
>>25762107
Let's try not to be too diverse. We don't want to make an organic Bradley. Focus on specialized units instead of having one fulfill as many as possible.

The idea of sergeants for the tin men is good, though.
>>
>>25761673

Please, no more independent people being put in charge again. That was a huge fiasco.

Instead of a head maid, however, how about a fleshcrafted Overseer? Something that can keep watch over every servant (or be able to see every part of the castle) and communicate telepathically with Isabella and the other fleshcrafted creations.

Crippling overspecialisation is just as bad a lack of specialisation.

The heavy assault would need some minor ranged capability to close distance, and the scout and aerial assault variants would be different enough that they would be considered specialised. The scout would use light and quiet weaponry and not be burdened by armour, while the assault would have a more powerful weapon(s) and have some plating over it's flesh - Slower, but with more kick to it.

The tripod idea is basically just so that they don't have to land on their faces.

If we really wanted to go jack of all trades we'd just go with >>25762302. This isn't necessarily a *bad* idea, and the amalaric sniper was actually what I was thinking of when I suggested the aerial construct. Forgot that they had four arms, though. Maybe the scout could go without the extra arms, but they could be present on the assault variant? Extra arms means a proportional increase to firepower, after all.

I support this only because the characterization it gives Isabella tickles me. She so desperately wants to create a surrogate family but her crazy keeps driving them away/making them try to murder her.

So basically this maid is a replacement Sophia, who is a replacement sister, who was a replacement for our actual family.

Ehh, I don't really see it that way. Sophia made it pretty clear that she wanted to murder Isabella because she took away her freedom. She was never anything more than an insubordinate servant who took it a step too far and got killed for it.

Scarlet is the one who vaguely reminds her of sister dearest, though. I find that bizarre surrogate sister relationship to be both rather creepy and more than a little endearing, which is what the character is all about when you get down to it.

Alright, fleshcrafting is sorted out. You also have the facilities to build airships, and I believe you were of the intent to build a fleet of your own. What would you like to do on that front?
>>
>>25762113
Sorry mang, it's not my fault you aren't canadian.
>>
>>25762811
Build up a small fleet that does some runs between there and Eyesocket, using the connections we acquire there.
>>
>>25762811
Weren't we makin that scout ship before? Maybe if it's done cooking we could put one of the big slow trade vessels in the oven.
>>
>>25762811
What did we go with, in terms of fleshcrafting?

As for fleets, I think having a few jack of all trade ships to start us off would be prudent.
>>
>>25762811
A trade ship and an escort or two.
>>
>>25762850
I'm just saying that the discussion is done with. I'll build the fleshcrafted army post later.

>>25762870
Do keep in mind that you potentially have decades here.
>>
>>25762879
Oh.

Then a bunch of trade ships and escorts.

Then maybe a few armoured transports.
>>
>>25762879
Well in that case we could time skip to fleet completion. I was thinking a bunch of the fast interceptors, a bunch of the big trundling megahaulers, and the flying fortress thing to serve as the fleet's core.
>>
>>25762811
I think we should first focus on building a trading fleet. Then we can use the profits to fund the construction of something big and scary like a battleship.
>>
>>25762879
Slowly build up the trade fleet, being careful not to get ahead of our business. And of course gain control of a gang in eyesocket so we can dispose of our laundered money tracelessly. Also, do the generic gaining influence locally.
>>
>>25762923
Keep in mind that none of the things we have access to are actually military grade tech. Combat ships would soles be for escort service.
>>
>>25762879
Hmm, if we're timeskipping a few decades, I do have to wonder how things are going to work out at the shipyard. Pretty sure people are going to notice that their boss isn't aging.
>>
>>25762962
You could make military tech, but it would be risky and certainly not something you could just do in a timeskip; either you'd need a wirt from the crown or you'd have to do it secretly/elsewhere.
>>
>>25762962
We'll have to try to bribe our way into a military contract sometime, if only gain access to the blueprints for later personal use.

No mil tech for now, let's try to stay legit. We've been attracted WAAAY to much attention lately.

1 Tower Class: Serves as fleet nucleus.
6 Galleon Class: Heavy, unarmed trade vessels.
4 Sword Class: Fleet escort.

How bout this? The Tower acts as a flagship. In the event of an ambush the Galleons can hew to the Tower while the Swords chase down attackers at their discretion. I'm sure the whole setup would be slow as balls but quite secure and it would let us carry MASSIVE cargoes. We could even become the major suppliers for a given city/state.
>>
>>25763028
We need to adopt some fashion quirk where we wear a veil at all times in public. Maybe we picked up an odd eastern religion during our travels or something.
>>
>>25763104
Yes.

All vampires have this problem, actually, but the younger ones have it especially bad.

Nobody notices if a thirty-year-old still looks 30 when he's 40 (in fact, they might compliment him on it.)

But everyone notices when the 12-year-old still looks 12 after 10 years.

This is part of the reason why you're a recluse. Maintaining yourself in the mortal effort is quite a bit of work.

1: what happened to Agen's illusionist? Did he escape or die in the attack?

2: Fleshcrafting OURSELVES older: good idea or BEST IDEA?
>>
>>25764524
I think Agen probably was the illusionist
>>
>>25764524
Could work, but I can't say it feels like the right option. Hard to put my finger on exactly why.
>>
>>25764524
1. We think he's dead, but... Illusionist.
2. Sure, if you're crazy enough to try and operate on yourself and you understand vampirism enough to know how not to kill yourself in the process.

Blood magic working on a vampire is... ehhhh.

Not to mention the fact that you've been in this body for 500 years and despite it being a pain, you're kind of attached to it.
>>
>>25764524
>2: Fleshcrafting OURSELVES older: good idea or BEST IDEA?
The risk of fucking up kinda outweighs the benefits. If you think we have a hard time passing as normal in public, imagine if we ended up horribly disfigured.

Time to become a rule 63 version of Dr. Doom.
>>
>>25764524
If we don't want to fleshcraft ourselves (let's not attach bits of others to ourself) we can do the next best thing.

Older-people-suits. Like powered armour, except a disguise. And biological.

We wear someone's still living, cored out body. It'll be kind of problematic to fight in though, meaning quick bloody eject might be needed. But hey, if we REALLY NEED A DRINK NOW we'd be wearing something disposable and tasty.
>>
>>25764577
If there are no objections I move that we proceed with fleet construction.

>>25764608
Aren't we overlooking the very simple solution of subtlety dominated finger puppets?

>>25764215
How do people feel about vampire economic conspiracy quest? Because I feel like this would be an awesome end game for us.
>>
>>25764630
Now that we've temporarily finished with our rivals in vampire society, we might as well turn to the simmering socio-economic discontent and start sewing the seeds of conspiracy and revolution.
>>
>>25764400
question: does Scarlet, our lady-in-waiting, look older than us?
>>
>>25764669
Yes, but her masquerade rating is balls, probably on account of the flood fountain on her head.
>>
>>25764608
I still think we'd be better off taking a normal, naturally aging girl, surgically altering her to resemble us, and then using her as a mind controlled puppet to interact with the world in our place might be better.

In another decade or two, we can have her pose as our mother and reappear in society as our true self.
>>
>>25764630
No objections to fleet construction here.
>>
>>25764681
That's fucked up.

I approve.
>>
>>25764681
>>25764630
>Fingerpuppets

Too easily spotted and laughed at; we'd also risk detection.

Fleshcrafted stuff isn't as magically detected so it's more of a surprise when A LOLI VAMPIRE SEEKING POPS OUT!
>>
>>25764681
YES
>>
>>25764669
Yes, but she's made of blood and if she goes out into Mark people will start screaming.
>>
>>25764743
We're basically making a 5-year plan here where everything will happen simultaneously over the timeskip.

So what about that revolution? Where would you like to start it and how?
>>
>>25764681
This idea does make a lot more sense, yes.
>>
>>25764807
I say go with thr banking plan. Its pure evil and we can work it. We will need to use some mind-slaved puppets as fronts for the money however.
>>
>>25764807
Begin laying the foundations for a speculative trading market. Form shell companies, staff them with loyal and competent minions. Promote fiat trading through deeds and promissory notes. Do everything we can to cosset and nurture the Markian economy while leaving it fundamentally unsound and exploitative.

Operation "Red Shield" anybody?
>>
>>25764863
All the while making ourselves out to be the only good boss in the industry, of course. Gotta have that worker support.
>>
>>25764863
Lets break a nation
>>
>>25764863
We should also work to spread distrust of religious authorities among the masses. Say that they're stealing the money of the working class and so forth, so that when the revolution breaks out, the angry mob will go after institutions like the Inquisition first.
>>
>>25764215
All my yes. You can have it. I don't need it anymore. As long as this is fulfilled.

Depends on whether we want to use the revolution or finance it's downfall. One way we have to deal with uppity commies, the other leaves the inquisition intact. Pick you poison.

>>25764908
Oh and we need to make sure the business network is so hopelessly confusing even we're not entirely sure how it works. Then we slowly move into commodities until the market takes notice, at which point we give the all sell order and collapse the market.
>>
>>25764968
Uppity commies that we control. Lets make the world "red"
>>
>>25764985
Acceptable risk factor. We should take measures to control them though. Oh and let's get our Money-mancer running the preverbial presses full tilt. As fast as we can safely diffuse it into the economy at large without attracting notice.
>>
>>25764968
Communists aren't dedicated to exterminating our kind. Play our cards right and we come out a hero of the people, anyway.
>>
>>25764968
We'll have to take steps to guarantee that we don't end up destroying the value of our own assets as well, though. And that luxury goods businesses don't all fail.

While destroying a nation is great, it's not worth reducing our quality of (un)life.
>>
>>25765025
>>25764968
>Then we slowly move into commodities until the market takes notice. We'll agitate for workers rights gently all the while so we come out with our holdings intact after the revolution too.
>>
>>25765061
Hmmmmm.

This is going to take a little while to work through the implications of.

I think I'll do this next thread. Unlikely to be tomorrow or wednesday; probably on thursday.

Also, the first chapter of the quest is now officially over with Agen's death. Congratulations, everyone. You've successfully taken Isabella from being a shut-in recluse to a political force to be reckoned with in vampiric society.

If there's sufficient call for a recap thread at this point, I may have one. If not, then I won't.

Oh, and that's just the beggining.

Just the beggining.
>>
>>25765387
It might help to do a recap, since you've been away so long and there's bound to be a few anons here who missed the start.
>>
>>25765414
We really need to get a drawfag to draw Isabella in a soviet officer's uniform.
>>
>>25765417
I'm told about every 20 threads is usual, and this right here is thread #20 if you count the threads that were split in two.
>>
>>25765493

Nah, don't. It's a waste of time and effort. If someone enw wants to join in, they go and read the archives.
>>
>>25765512
It's still good for refreshing people's memories on more forgettable events or when there's a good deal of time between threads.
>>
>>25765493
Piece of advice: Read some of the original Dragon Quest. OP did long timeskips with lots of player plans quite well.
>>
>>25765493
Seems ideal.

Issue is that expecting newcomers to read the archives is a bit of a tall order. I would always do so, but it's a matter of preference. A couple paragraphs of summary means that both crowds are happy.

For reference and planning I give you.... OPERATION RED SHIELD

PHASE 1: Boom
1. Build trade fleet. Once completed have it ply routes and cargoes that encourage reckless investment spending (construction, colonies, speculative mining, wars).
2. Abduct/gently dominate a new crop of servants to act as key agents for shell companies and revolutionaries. Use existing businessmen and labor leaders where possible but attract no attention.
3. Establish banking network and begin loaning money to increasingly risky ventures. Simultaneously nurture the growth of a revolutionary workers party.
4. Establish criminal enterprise (via Snackwell?) and have them start laundering our un-money into the economy and spreading propaganda about the evils of the royalty and their running dog lackeys in the church.
5. Let the money supply carry the economic boom on it's own and start transitioning out of investment sectors and into hard commodities (metals, timber, food, arms) as slowly as possible so as not to arouse suspicion.

PHASE 2: Bust
6. As the economy heats start agitating publicly for workers rights, avoid outright support and cloak our intentions as concern for stability. Pour fake money into the system through the use of fractional reserve banking. By this point nobody should notice the anomalous increase in credit.
7. Once the furor reaches it's peak give our shell companies orders to sell shares en masse and fall back into hard commodities.
8. As the currency collapses funnel arms and material support to the rebels.
9. Intensify support and assassinate opponents once the revolution starts to gain traction.
10. Use our plants in the revolution to secure our future in the People's Republic of Mark. Get involved in party politics to stay on top.
11. Rally the people under the banner of Great Helmsloli Isabella and conquer the world.

Disclaimer: assumes that other vampires don't have tumbs in the pie.
>>
>>25765961
Oh I just said that's the plan. Not that it won't all go to pot almost immediately. We could probably convince people that the glorious people's revolution is broadly in vampire favor. We just need to stop them from bursting the bubble too early to profiteer (politely ask/murder).
>>
>>25766001
Which means aiming the target at the Inquisition. Huh.
>>
>>25765961
I want to see a Maoyuu Maou style economist battle where one guy is trying to depress the economy while we try to make it explode.

FREEDOM DAY

Eh, you're not missing much, it'll probably be a recap thread.
>>
If we're having a multi-year timeskip, be sure to put a lot of time into working on our fleshcrafting infrastructure. We have ourselves, Scarlet, and the dolls all capable of acting as useful fleshcrafters; to move ourselves from doing spot work into having literal armies of fleshcrafted monstrosities (which we should, for reasons of paranoia and profit) we'll need to offload most of the actual construction work onto our faithful dolls. That means some time invested in teaching the less skilled fleshcrafters would be time well spent.

We should also use some of the profits generated over this timeskip to get better equipment. Appropriate clothing for every occasion (with associated larger-than-5-point stat boosts) is essential, for ourselves and notable servants. Specialized fleshcrafted/sorcerous trinkets, like the ones that give us sensory sharing/telepathy with certain constructs, are useful as well and should make more for use and sale.
>>
>>25765387
For the next thread, you can afford to redo the entire opening infodump, far more truncated than it is. New chapter, new infodump.
