Um.. Guys, I am back... ;_;

Welcome back to Commissar quest!

You are Otto Schulte a twelve year old girl on her way to destiny, you've just for the third time in your life put your feet down on a planet.

Last week we freaked out over planet mold, read our data-slate and landed on a planet!

Roll rules:

Highest of first three rolls for things the character is skilled at doing.
Median of first three rolls for things the character is "capable" at.
Lowest of first three rolls for things the character is utterly shit at.

You have to "beat" your stats (which for now are hidden by popular demand, this may change) so low rolls are good.

Cont post explained:If there is a post marked at the end with "cont" its becouse your QM is lazy, and can't type fast - or becouse he wants to give you the option to jump into the current events, or offer opinions, if none are offered he'll continue as normal

Disclamer in regards to Re:Spelling: I suck at spelling big time, if anyone actually cares its due to the fact I suffer from Dysgraphia, its the primary reason I got into RP in the first place, trying to practice my spelling. Its not about "don't complain about it!" but rather: "If you've got the time and want to proof read it great! But lets not clog the thread with it, send it to my E-mail! (Yes I do use a spellchecker)

You had been on planets before, twice actually if you count the planet you where born on - not that you remember that... The second was a few years back when you had followed your Uncle down to a place he called a "hive city" - it was not that diffrent from a ship after all - just that the roof had been strange, it was so far up! And you could not see anything in the murky depths of it, your uncle had explained it was not a roof, but the sky - and it was smog you saw.

But you never really understood the differance.

This however, was much different. You looked out from the ships open rear end stunned by the landspace around you, at first you had presumed that the vented heat played tricks on your eyes - but the "shimmering" air had soon faded, leaving no doubt as to that it was there... feeling your hands fall to your sides you notice several kids where already running past you out into.. well, that.

It was a large opening - the size of a lesser administratums hall - perhaps three hundred meters across at its thickest, but it was not parted of with walls at all but rather.. you assume them to be trees - you had not come completly inprepered to the planet after all! But it was so diffrent them from seeing one in a pict on a faded data-slate screen.. And there was so many! Everywhere! All around you, lumbering above streching out arm-like things topped with green.. stuff towards the sky.

But that was not the most sureal part of all this, no - not even the odd floor - covered in such thick layers of dirt you could not see the floor plates, nor was the odd green.. things sticking out from it at places - in particularly between the.. trees - no, not even the odd blowing sensation you felt, as if standing next to a ventilation shaft. None of thesr things - no, the most sureal thing was the sky, you realised now that planets no doubt don't have roofs - otherwise you'd never be able to see into it.

You felt a bit stupid for asuming they did but you where not prepred for this... You'd seen the planet from above, a scene you where use to - the void, the planet - the odd features on it, in particular this odd molding..

But when looking upwards you saw, blue. Blue roof, with dots of white - nothing else for as far as you could see aside from the glaring sun, it was reasuring at least that the systems star was visiable - you reconiced it from the ship, even if it seemed smaller from down here.. it meant that something was like it should be.. but the stars? Where are the stars, the planets three moons? You could not make either out among the endless blue.

Someone bumped into you as they hurried past, tearing you brutally away from your revereis!

"Nothing comes for the waiting man.." springs to mind as you begin to decent the ramp to the planet proper, it was an old quote from a picture of the emperor and some army you'd seen on the ship, it had been several like it all around, and you remember your uncle always reading them a loud when you passed, for what-ever reason.

The trek down the ramp was fast, your not sure what you expected, something, perhaps just a "Welcome Schulte" you'd been traveling here all your life...

Something odd does happen when you do finely step onto the planet - you'd half expected it to shallow you whole and a sense of panic enters your mind as your feet begins to sink, just a split second as the ground gives way for your heavy-clad feet with a wet "squishing" sound.

Planet mold! - its all true, the planet is fal- ...your not sinking anymore..?

Looking down you notice your foot have submerged itself in some icky brown ..thing.. come to think of it all the ground around you that is not covered by the green-yellow... things appears equally submerged... It

(Seeing as there where no more rolls on this I'll take this one)

You take the opportunity however, while exiting to look around for Nikkobars friends, you do not notice them until by chance you take a quick look over your shoulder, but they appear still secured in their chairs! What slobs!

You decide to ignore the yelling men for now - there is no doubt going to be awhile before everyone is out of the ship anyway, besides if you stick around, perhaps you could meet the women in armor again...

You decide therefore to let curiosity get the better of you - if this planet really is molding, you need to know - and this icky brown stuff is a prime suspect! Bending forward you stick a finger into it... its cold - and a bit yielding..

You swoop some of it up on your finger, lifting it into the air - its brown.. icky, and really sticky.. but surprisingly.. smooth, you poke your other finger into the mass collected... this is actually a bit fun...

You are interrupted however by the voice of .. that guy, Lak calling out behind you: "Playing in the mud are we..?"

>What do we do?

For now, you don't mind with Lak - he's a big double-heretic with some "twin" thing, you've got way more important things to worry about then him, if there is planet mold around someone needs to know.

So you kneel down and give brown icky stuff that is apparently called "mud" another few pokes with your fingers, testing its structure - partially reminded of the way Uncle Eric used to test the stability of metal by poking it with his hammer.. perhaps if you'd had a hammer..

"Oi, little girl I am talking to you - what is up, got mud in your ears?"

.. Ignore him.

You give the mud another few pokes with your finger, digging into it a bit, looking for what-ever is bellow it. Perhaps if you could stir it up somehow? You look around for anything, perhaps a wrench..? Just as you where about to use your hand to scoop up some instead Lak reminds you of his presence, he's right behind you now...

"Hey there, I am talking to you - I don't like being ignored - Are you stupid or something? Huh? Answer me!?"

... Perhaps you ought to test the structure of the mud using Laks face.

Yes, yes you should.

You turn around on your heels, using your small nimble status to your advantage as you give Lak a face full of the brown goo. Making sure to push it in hard before letting go - forcing him back a pace or two as he claws it away from his eyes with a series of feral grunts.. like some sort of broken servitor.

"Hello Lak"

>What do we do?

>Run before he recovers, (specify location: Red clad men, ship, other)

You don't bother giving him the time to retort as you hurry away running over the "mud" clad ground, its surprisingly hard actually and you nearly fall twice before you merge into the crowd gathering around the red clad men, tossing an eye over your shoulder you notice Lak following suit, this time however his brother is behind him.

You can't make out what he's saying in the cacophony surrounding you but Lak eyes shot las-cutters, as he rubbed the last of the mud from his face with a few swipes, he stroke his neck twice, as if man-handling a none-existing beard while he looked at you silently, you could see the cold anger raging in his eyes, his mouth crawling together as if he'd just ate a mouth full of the sour orange paste..

You smile to yourself.. that is for being a double-heretic!

You wait for a spell as the crowd grows - using your small status to slither forward in the group - few are willing to push into a little girl after all. As such you notice that the group have crowded around a small collection of boxes, where a group of the red-clad men where standing, before long one steps up on the boxes, smiling before calling out with a voice that seemed to carry itself effortlessly above the orchestra of voices.

"Good morning children, Welcome to Besvir - today will be your first day in the Schola proper. I am Commissar Relond and will be the first man to become your teacher, and by extension - welcome to your first lesson."

"At this time, its 06:00 Besvir time - or 12:00 imperial standard - a day on Besvir is short, just fifteen imperial standard hours, meaning we've got about six hours until dinner is served - at the schola. The schola is roughly Seven Imperial miles standard away, a fairly short distance all things considered - and here's the simple nature of your first lesson: Make it to the Schola - by foot, naturally before dinner is served or be without."

A general rise of voices cuts through the crowd as the youngsters begin to protest - its however soon shut down by the man continuing.

"Should you fail to reach the Schola before tomorrows morning lessons, you will be considered.. failed, failure before the god-emperor is not acceptable and will be punished by summery execution, should you be found sulking our forests - its more likely however one of the native predators that roam during the night will get to you."

The crowd goes dead silent.. "Execution" you muse.. as it, shot?

He continues: "The Schola is easy to find - we are located on Mount O'raly - continue down this slope (he gestures downwards - a wage parting in the "trees" mark a path" and you'll see it, eventually, there are no clear paths to it however."

"Well, what are you waiting for? Time is ticking, and I sure won't be missing my dinner." - with this he steps down, and begins to walk away, the crowd parting around him and his men, if by respect - or the nasty looking poles they are carrying you don't know.

The mud flows bellow your shoes with a "squish" "squish" as you being to walk towards the parting in the "trees" ... its odd, all this open space - but at least you've got a bit of a head start on the others, your feeling a bit.. odd in other senses as well - its hard to put your finger on as you continue the trek, its like... like your feet get up a bit to quick when you pull them up, and every motion a bit to strong, its been like that since you exited the ship really.

Its adaptable - but it makes you feel a bit.. odd.

You give your surroundings a brief look, it appears the once coherent crowd is slowly splitting up, the trees acting like natural crowd disperses - its still close enough to see several people around, you don't notice Lak anywhere despite looking for him, but you do notice Nikkobars friends.. they rushed a head and are now only a few paces behind you, counting heads you make out four - no wait, five.

You do feel a bit sad about not seeing the women in white, but if you make it to the Schola perhaps you'll find them..?

Perhaps they'll let you try out the armor...

That thought gives you a certain spring in your step as you continue the trek - its soon however made harder as the "path" between the trees fade in favor of... well, they are hard big things - and long things that run along the floor from the trees...

Giving a eye over your shoulder you notice Nikkobars friends behind you - the only faces you can still make out clearly among the "trees"...

>What do we do?

You stride forward in confidence - deciding to use your small status to "lose" the oafs behind you - its easy enough really, turns out while your heavy boots are not the most comfortable they make traversing this uneven floor a lot easier, especially being able to crush down all these odd green things that are -everywhere- they sort of look similar to those things inside the hydro-bay inside the ship - the one that crazy old man kept, you'd only seen it once when you snuck down together with a few other children.. mostly because you wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

These however, where not in neat boxes, at first you tried to avoid stomping on them, but as time slowly passed and a few miss steps made you crush several anyway you gave up that venture - nikkobars oafs seems to have lost you, and its not far before you find yourself looking out over a wide.. well, hollow? At the bottom you saw it, tucked in between a long line of blue.. was that a plasma conduit in the open?... It must be huge! And another "hill" - you presume you where standing one one, planets sure where more uneven then they looked from above..

Regardless - you take some basic directions, "that way" ought to get you to it you muse... and so you begin your downward path. Its easier at first! Your not used to these angles but you cope - you are Otto Schulte after all! But it gets harder, and its not soon before you lose your footing, suddenly without any stable ground bellow your feet you wave your hands around!

You stabilize - its nothing compared to losing footing on a ship when gravity cuts after all - grabbing onto one of the nearby.. tree.. things, you manage to right yourself rather curtly - noticing however, something far behind you.. a rustling in the trees... did not the red-clad man say "predators..?" your fairly certain you've heard the term before, somewhere.. it was in a book about large fanged things...

.. Perhaps you where just seeing things right?

Still, your belly rumbles.. you continue down your way - if you remember right, there should be the big plasma conduits first - there ought to be a crossing there, I mean, you can't walk over an active plasma transference, that'd be suicidal at best! Perhaps that was the challenge..?

Regardless, you trek on! You soon make a game out of avoiding anything yellow on the ground - for indeed, you soon learn that there are many colors in this "tree-planet-land" not just green, its rather interesting all things considered - and where it not for this strange feeling you're being watched, which is silly - you shook off Nikkobar's oafs a long time ago, and you can still occasionally hear the other kids in the forest, so it was probably just them.

Hours begin to creep by, and you feel yourself getting more and more tired, you've walked long before, you once walked the entire Rangers talent's length! But it was uneven ground, and seemed to drain your strength.

You are soon however interrupted by the sound of.. water, you think - or liquid in general being poured out, sort of like a sink...?

You continue you walk, with every step, the odd pouring of liquid intensifies, soon its drowning out all other sounds - the sounds, in particular took awhile getting used to. This "blowing" had shook the tree's making them impact each other, at first it had been startling but you soon grew to accept it, ships had all kinds of noises and in a way it was good to have it, if planets where completely silent you'd feel awkward.

This noise however was getting rather tiresome as it soon grew into a roar like sitting near the engine housing on a ship..

Your not sure what to make of it as you approach it however... its well, at first you presumed it to be some sort of ditch - (you grew accustomed to them as well, it took you awhile to overcome a particularly tricky one that did not look like a ditch, but was as a matter of fact deep as your ankles!) but it soon became clear that it was not.. it was deep, a crack in the ground itself - and looking down into it.. water.

Or at least you presumed its water, flowing freely outside of a pipe, as if there had been a rupture... Did they not have pipes on planets.. was this how they transported water - in long cracks..? Won't the water get dirty..

More importantly, how do you get to the other side..?

We are pretty easily offended, and we don't seem to like things we don't really understand.
We are also not afraid to get violent even against those bigger than us.

I'd say that's commissar material right there.

You.. think its right - it should be towards that hill, up there somewhere.. it looks different from down here however, but you begin trekking towards it - following this.. "water-filled-crack" for the time being - another few minutes creep away, an hour.. two - you begin to question you took the right path when you notice something up a-head.. its a bridge!

With renewed vigor you begin to stride towards it, but you notice something is odd about it - people are crowded around it - just a handful, but they are not crossing.. deciding to slink past into the woods to gather more information you get closer - without being detected.

Its Nikkobars friends camping out, they have all lazily slung themselves down on the metal bridge, there are more now - eight, no seve- no, eight you reaffirm. They seem not to have noticed you.. but neither are they looking to move it seems.

Its all however put on tilt as you notice something while looking the large metal bridge over - bellow it are several pipes, smaller ones for certain, a few large ones... if you used the infernal green stuff to hide your approach you could slip straight into that opening and crawl across... hoping you don't split to your immediate death, of course...

You begin the approach...

You think fast, while dashing away from you assailants, the best way would be for now to gain ground towards the schola you think, quickly turning right as you exit the bridge proper, you've got no idea how close it is, but perhaps you'll find an adult on the way..?

You rush, feeling the ground bellow you hitting into your legs with every step.. your surprisingly tired you suddenly realize, you try and push yourself harder but your legs just won't move as fast as you'd hope.. you feel the air in lungs being to burn as you continue the mad dash, the ground is uneven here as well - not by a lot, but you feel it every time you expect the (somewhat) softer dirt but hit into a hard rock, making your entire body shudder from the impact.

While your head yells for you to move faster, your body just can't keep up, and the boys behind you have longer legs, and appears rested, a quick glance over your shoulder reveals them between the trees - gaining ground! You've got to figure something out!

You renew your efforts, pushing yourself to the very limit - you -won't- fail here, these oafs will give you a beating if they catch you, fueled by either a strong will - or fear your legs continue their motions, rounding a tree however you notice the ground littered with smaller hard-things, and an idea creeps into your head.

You snap one of them up in flight, only turning slightly to the side as you launch the thing sideways - hitting a tree, but hopefully they heard it.

You keep at it, three random stones.. four.. five, its not until you feel like you are going to topple over and they'll get to you when a rock hits someone - and someone calls out in pain.

You've gained some time perhaps, hopefully so. You risk a glance over your shoulder properly, stopping your mad flight for just a second... it seems you've held your small advantage, but you still see at least two of the big oafs running towards you - the others must have given up.

Still, your beat - running like this will kill you at this rate! But what other options do we have?

Moments later you hit the ground with a low thud, shaking you to the core and drawing the breath out of you.

"Hah..hah,,ha- That all you got? You big oafs!?" you smile triumphantly - that ought to teach them! - Since they both just wave at you in a dismissing fashon, clearly to tired to retort you give them another yell of "Give Nikkobar my regards!" before giving them a cute bow and trotting off. Taking a path deeper into the woods away from the water.

As soon as you are outside of view you find a tree, leaning towards it with a sigh, resting you tired limbs for a spell - you really wish you had something to drink, your legs hurt. Your feet hurt even worse - and you've got a Bruise where your data-slate hit into your side as you ran, but you made it across!

Soon however, you find yourself pushing onwards, you don't want to miss dinner.

Minutes slowly turn to hours, and the creeping feeling of something following you returns as you several times notice the tree's ruffling, but see nothing there...

You are just about to give up when you suddenly step into a clearing.. or well, more then so. Its a black.. path? Floor that seems man-made for a change! Its marked with white stripes interestingly enough... you peer down one end seeing until it curves - but remain speechless when you turn your attention the other way - there in the distance a large gate stands proud - and behind it you notice several tall buildings! You've reached the schola!

Right, first off all lets try and see if I can convey my opinions properly in text - I'd use voice but I'd have to boot up the studio for that.

Right, first off: The "relationship" thing that keeps popping up in my quest - its not actually done so far in this so not sure if really needed to be talked about but in essence my opinions in short are as following:

I am a grown man, I am an adult - and I don't mind writing relationships - there might be none, there might be several - its bound to be a topic as we enter puberty naturally - but its up to you how committed we become to that.

Does that mean I want a Waifu quest? Let me put it down clear: "No" - I don't, there is a difference from interacting with a three-dimensional character, and enjoying his company then getting a husbando or waifu that fits the role of "your submissive partner" - expect teenage cheating, fads - passing "love" and their ilk if you get into relationships, and if you push it harder - the teacher s will intervene and be pricks about it as well.

In essence: Will you as a QM allow waifu stuff, and make waifu bait? - No, but I won't stop you from finding a character you enjoy and "sex them up" when appropriate.

Also: Since its come up in the past, will Commissar write smut?

Possible, I personally don't see it much "worse" then writing about shooting someone in the head - and for me as a writer sure is easier, at least I've got experience in that front - unlike the shooting dudes in the head front.

I won't actively seek it out however, nor will I post it on /tg/ - its a blue board, and while some anon said Janitors don't care about text, I won't take the risk.

I might use a pastebin, but its a lot of effort for something I doubt anyone would enjoy. I remain passive on this question.

>>
>>25721473
Moving on: "Why is this quest so slow!?" - To answer an e-mail I got from an Anon:

Its slow, I know - and I have tried to improve upon my writing with pre-made scenes, but I am very much an "on the fly" DM/QM most of the time I've got no idea what I am doing before I do it.

And even when I do - with clear guidelines I keep forgoing those to do other things, usually sticking only to the "main-plot points".

Right now, my "goal" is to get to where I can churn out posts with no more then ten minutes from reaching consus to posting it again - I failed a few times tonight, but I think having a timer helped me out a bit.

Also, to answer another question: "Will we "kill" things?" - This is the grimderp future of the 40k millenia, while I don't think I've had time to convey how horrible this setting is yet aside from you know, kicking kids into the forest saying "Make it or die".

Yes, we will kill people.

>>25721527
I'd love to hear more actually, In general I am open to suggestions, like I mentioned in the post - I'll leave this in the players hands I don't mind focusing on writing about planet molding and shooting heretics either - its what I came here to do naturally, but three-dimensional characters are to me important, as such I am willing to write all aspects of their persona.

But obviously only to the point people are comfortable with.

Do you have any plan to deal with the fact that casual sex/relationships inevitably leads to shitstorms? I know if I ever do a quest I'll either forbid romance completely or lock in a LI and never let the players go for anyone else.
>>
>>25721700
My "plans" are either A: Tell people to deal with it or B: Never let it get that far. I would presume people around here to be adult enough to deal with it.

I've seen a lot of posts around with "Its going to be a shitstorm!" - yet I've seen only mostly mature posts around these threads - perhaps I am just A: Ignorant, or B: Increadibly lucky.

Either way, being willing to write it an actually writing it is two completly diffrent things - for once, don't expect any reletionships in the story for several "ingame years" - by then we can talk about it like sensable adults I'd hope.

If not, I might bann it yes - if I see no way to solve it that would appeal to the players, its similar how I DM really - have a conversation with people, its to me the best way to deal with these things.

Right I'm just saying I'll be pushing for not pissing off any more people until we have someone who would stand on our side.

Like I mentioned, casual relationships buried Psion Quest in shitstorms, and Exabyte's quests have usually been perfectly polite and had no romance drama. I'm worried you're overestimating /tg/ here.

wasn't just the shitstorms either (though they were huge), it also turned every thread for a while into constant posting about which LI was better, and rampant flirting for every interaction with eligible bachelors and bachelorettes (though that particular problem probably won't pop up with a stricter quest-runner).

Probably yes, its warhammer there is a 73.343% chance of everything you love being eaten by Tyranids, smashed by orcs, corrupted by demons, or blammed for heresy.

Perhaps by giving an example I could get my point across better - there are the gaunts ghosts stories yes? While I can never claim to get even close to that level of writing skill, its something similar I am aiming for if we ever want to head down the relationship part. Which I actually don't think we will - it seems to be the general consus around that we are out to be Commissars and well, that is.

Which I am completely fine with.

I'll have a read on Psion Quest, I am new to QM'ing - this is my first attempt at anything like this actually, RP via text thats not tied into the very limited text-windows from WoW which I frequented back in the day. So I fully expect to do something silly.

I must say I am a bit taken back by the amount of "support" this quest have gotten, obviously I am happy but I am equally stunned.

I aim at making the best quest I can - and understanding the needs and preferences of the players would probably be the best way of doing that.

Be it that we decide to involve relationships or not.

>amount of "support" this quest have gotten
This might be because the biggest rant against quests is that their subject aren't /tg related.

Commissars are about as tg related as can be.

Very much could be the case to be fair.

To be clear, 'relationships' or multiple love interests isn't a problem (well, you'll probably see a good amount of posting about it that can get off-topic, but generally people will be polite). The moment you introduce the possibility of casual sex/changing partner/etc, all that teenage shit, though, anons will flip out to make sure that their favored character wins and call foul if you make that character do something (like cheat or similar) to sabotage it as you 'favoring' the other possible love interests.

It also means that waifufagging is rampant throughout the whole quest, as anons never give up on getting their favored character into the MC's pants. In comparison, just introducing some potential love interests, letting readers pick out one to go for, and then leaving it at that (not necessarily having the romance go great, but being clear that no other characters can be romanced) lets readers who are overly invested in romantic shit get it out of their system, and 'losers' can leave the quest instead of constantly trying to sabotage the MC's relationships and complain so their character can win.

After Psion Quest I don't think I ever want to follow a quest that does casual romance.

Nah, it's the QM that makes the difference, see Reasonable Marines Quest and the ire it gets.

>>25722002
On that train of thought Commissar was that a danger to us being attacked on our way to the schola? I mean by wild animals type of attack.

Hrm, fair enough - it sure gives me something to think of - Its not generally how I would have done it if I DM'ed, but quests are a bit differant if nothing else, not sure if I'd want to write a character just for romance, but then again - it could be a fun exercise just to make a character like that.

I think a key element is that no relationship is ever going to last due to the nature of the world itself.

I'd rather not this entire thing obviously turn into some sort of war over getting in people pants - which I am to a degree suprised that it is at all. Its the first time I've ever really been comfronted with the problem at all.

I'll read up on this Psion quest to see what you all mean by next week and have something more to say on the matter then, I always try and stick to as much RP as possible, but if this is doomed to become an issue I'll stop it before it can be, its usually the best for everyones enjoyment.

Perhaps clearly defined rules will help, not that I like it but you catch my drift.

Did he not actively try and break from Warhammer tho? Its in the name "reasonable" - I am inclined to agree I am getting cut some slack by the fact that its Tg writefaggotry.

>>25722321
Now, if I told you that it would be cheating~~~~<3

>>25722083
I'll admit I came into the quest because I figured commissars are cool and I like commissars.
What I got was a 12 year old girl beating up a boy way bigger than her and making faces in a mirror.
I can't say I'm disappointed. Actually I'm interested in seeing how she grows into a leader.

I'll be heading of to bed now, if the thread is around tomorow I'll read what-ever updates where here, if not just send me an E-mail, it ought to be all over the place by now.

Cheers for tonight mates, I had fun, hope you did as well, thats whats important at the end of the day.
