LAST TIME ON GUNDAM AGE QUEST: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Gundam+AGE+Quest

Follow/Check my twitter for updates/reschedules: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

Your name is Dirk Crocker and you are currently aboard the Diva-Class vessel, transporting the prisoner and your friend, Zeheart Galette, to Big Ring the HQ for the Federation Forces. You have been traveling a day and it should take you at least a few more hours to arrive there thanks to Zarth’s closer location to Earth. Once you arrive you’ll be staying there to participate in the Defense of Big Ring from a suspected invasion fleet.

At the moment you are sitting in your room, dressed in your new military fatigues. You and Asemu were given the rank of Petty Officers and assigned to Woolf’s MS Team. Yurika and Akito are still members of Levithan so they expressed they may be assigned elsewhere.

The first day aboard the ship was boring, you helped with some repairs, ate, got assigned your rank and became a member of the Earth Federation forces.

You just woke up from a good nights rest. What do you wish to do now?
>>
Call mom, who knows what happened back there.
After that, let's grab some grub and go see Asemu and Woolf, maybe we can help them with something.

(Anyway, man, is everything over there okay? How did the incident with the deer go?)
>>
>>25660603

Seconding this.
>>
>>25660543
Grab some food, then head out to check on the prisoner.
>>
Pardon the off topic but, does anyone know what Happened to Bright Quest?
>>
>>25660725
No idea, sorry.
>>
>>25660725
(I'm afraid not, I haven't heard anything. I hope it's OK, it was pretty bitchin)

(Everything is fine. Busted headlight, some bumper damage to the car. Everything is fine. Mom has to take it up to Watertown tomorrow for repairs, but all is well)

You whip out your G-Phone (Yes Dad made you swear to call it that) and dial Mom's number. You get a "Unable to Connect at this time" Message and decide to call to Scarlet and get the same thing. It's probably just local interference or maybe some kind of jamming back at the colony? You can always try again after breakfast.

Exiting your quarters you make your way to mess hall, located in the gravity block along with the crew quarters. You grab some Mac & Cheese and take a seat beside Woolf and Asemu who are chatting it up.

"Hey guys, how's it going?" You ask cheerfully as you dig into your food.

"Not much. Me and Dad were just chatting about how it's nice to be together again" Asemu smiles, looking happier then he has in ages. "Me, Mom and Dad all together for once. Sure we're in the military, but at least we're all in the same hou-er, ship for more then a day."

Woolf smiles and nods. "Again, I'm sorry about being away so much. Me and your mother knew we had a responsibility to continue our military careers to help providing a proper living for you. We never meant to leave you all alone, we love you too much for that..."

"Nah, It's alright Dad. We're together now and that's what matters."

Your glad to see Asemu is taking things well and ask if they have anything they need help with.

"Not really, but I heard we've been having communication problems, some kind of weird interference. Maybe you could stop by the Bridge and talk with the captain about it?" Asemu suggests.

You nod and finish your meal, going off to see the prisoner. Entering the brig you are searched and scanned for anything as a security measure. After leaving all your stuff with the guard you walk over to where Zeheart is being kept.

He's lying down on the cot, looking up at the ceiling. He seems better now and has a blank look on his face, like he's waiting for something.

What do you wish to ask/say Dirk?
>>
>>25660830
"Yo, you okay? Want me to fetch you some food or something?"
"I promised Yurika I'd take care of you, so don't you dare die on me from starvation or some shit like that."

On a side note, I don't think bringing Zeheart to Big Ring was a smart idea.
For all we know, he could be waiting for a rescue by the Magician's 8.

You don't think it's a smart idea to take Zeheart to Big Ring, but apparently HQ has big plans for Zeheart and plan on using his capture as some kind propaganda campaign to demoralize Vagan Spies or something.

Akito promised he wouldn't be hurt, the Federation is going to keep him alive in one of the super prisons they built at one of the poles down on Earth. He shouldn't be able to escape once he gets there, so you won't have to worry about ever having to fight him again.

"Yo, you okay? Want me to fetch you some food or something? I promised Yurika I'd take care of you, so don't you dare die on me from starvation or some shit like that."

Zeheart remains dead silent, continuing to stare up at the ceiling. He obviously registers your presence and appears to be listening, but he doesn't say or do anything in response.

What do you wish to do?

"Zeheart. I know you can hear me."

"Listen, I can guess what you're thinking about. You're going to Big Ring to be processed, and I guess you're terrified of that. I would be too, if I ended up being brought up to your HQ or something. And I guess you're pissed at me for that mind-rape thingy I did back on Zarth. For that part, I'm not sorry. I'm not going to apologize to you for saving everybody back home."

"But I'll do my fucking best to see you safe. I'm not going to sit by if you getting captured means that you'll end up as a public execution or something. I'll not stand by it. You're a fucking human, and you'll be treated as a human, not as some entertainment or an example for some dicks."

"So, once again, talk to me, because I'm trying to be friendly at the moment. Do you need something, you ass?"
>>
>>25661127
You tap on the glass separating you and Zeheart in an amusingly irritating fashion, attempting to get his attention and get him to speak.

"Dirk to Zeheart. Come In Zeheart." You say, tapping mock-morse code.

"Do you require additional sustenance?"

Eventually after 10 minutes of playful irritation you stop and cross your arms.

"So, once again, talk to me, because I'm trying to be friendly at the moment. Do you need something, you ass?"

Eventually after a good couple of seconds, Zeheart responds. "Yes...there is something I need. Iron tablets. I usually take vitamin supplements, specifically iron tablets. My body seems to have a naturally low amount of Iron in it, so if I don't take vitamins for it I grow lightheaded and often get migraines. If you get me some vitamins I'd appreciate it..."

What do you say Dirk?
>>
So, world building question.

We know that Vagans have that weird last-name issue - Desil's mom apparently kept the name Galette, while both her husbands took it from her, and passed it on to their children. Are they functioning like a clan? Does their nobility force the surname down on whoever marries into the clan, while the others keep whatever naming convention they used before?

I guess the families either has to be completely military ones (the Galettes), or they rule some of the nearby colonies. I guess the other Vagan colonies (besides Second Moon) serve mostly to produce food, while metals are mined directly from the surface of Mars.
>>
>>25661291
"Sure thing. I'll be sure to mention that to the guys in the kitchen for your future meals."
"Anything else?"

If not, go grab him his vitamins. Or if we have some on us, let's give him ours.
>>
>>25661322

This is good.
>>
>>25661303
(I am myself unfamiliar with the functioning of a Clan. However from what you described I'd have to say that they most likely do in one sense or another. They see themselves as a 'family' but they function like a plan)

>>25661303
>>25661375
"Sure thing. I'll be sure to mention that to the guys in the kitchen for your future meals. Is there anything else?" You smile, nice to see Zeheart is coming around.

"Yes, please tell Yurika to visit me. You can send her up with my vitamins if you wish. I have a lot of things I need to apologize for..." He looks at the floor, seeming somewhat guilty.

"I'll tell her when I get the chance Zeheart." You give him a friendly wave goodbye and leave, informing the guard of his request. He seems to see it as fine, if it were any kind of potent drug then he probably would have said no, but Zeheart doesn't seem the type of guy to try and kill himself from iron poisoning. The guard approves the request and gives you a permission slip to give to one of the doctors in the infirmary.

You exit the brig and are now standing in the hallway. What do you wish to do now Dirk?
>>
>>25661532
Let's see the captain. We need to get going on those repairs.
Possibly send Yurika over to Zeheart with his pills.
>>
>>25661532

See if we can't find Yurika on our way to the bridge. We can give her the slip and tell her that Zeheart needs some Iron tablets from the infirmary and that he wishes to speak with her.

Sounds like a plan.

As for the Vagan industry, I don't see any green surfaces on the colony, so I assume all the agriculture is done on other, lesser colonies somewhere nearby. Their only purpose would be the production of food. And considering the rampant starvation on their homeworld, I guess they either can't produce enough, or Ezelcant loves to mess with his people and sabotages them so that the weak die off from hunger.

The big red thing in the middle is the population center, while those two large silver structures surrounding it are probably military bases and factories, considering how it's much easier to build stuff in zero gravity. Possibly even the laboratories. I assume that all the industry and military is centered in those two.

And considering the size of these things they make, as well as the size of their ships, bases and what else, I guess they have a pretty advanced mining industry - they probably mine the nearby asteroid field, as that'd be cheaper than actually building and mining on the surface of the planet, and then bringing the stuff up.
>>
>>25661757
Yeah, Vagan don't really seem to actually live on Mars so much as around it. Which is a big problem with their situation right there. Burrow underground and you have much fewer problems from cosmic rays, with all that mass serving as a radiation shield. Not to mention that it would be a lot harder for the Federation fleet to bombard them if they were in underground shelters. Maybe they had ground-based colonies and they were the first targets in the Federation's attack. Second Moon could have been spared because it was a relatively minor colony at the time, and has since been built up into the capital of the new Vagan civilization
>>
>>25662084
Maybe that thing above the ground (which looks like wraps) is an attempt to build an outer layer?

I guess that thing in the middle was originally an asteroid, and that it proved much easier to build on top of it than to dig inside. Maybe they even got a couple of the nearby asteroids and brought them together, build cities on top of them, and added that artificial ceiling thing that created the atmosphere. Now, they're trying to that make that outer wall that'd both protect them from the rays as well as serve as a defense in case of them being bombarded. Kinda like building an additional roof above their head, just, you know, on an unprecedented scale?

Ezelcant's attempt to placate his people - he doesn't want the tech for curing the mars sickness to be made, but at the same time, he doesn't want to appear incapable of saving them.
>>
>>25662210
Given the name of the colony, I wouldn't be surprised if Second Moon actually is Mars' second moon. Neither Phobos nor Deimos is that rich in minerals, but if you've got them already there in orbit for raw materials, you can make a colony out of it easier than you could imported asteroids. Probably it's Phobos, given its size.

But yeah, I like the idea that the oval extensions are the start of a second layer of colony building. They're extracting material from Phobos to build a larger shell with better defensive ability. In the process they've smoothed out the moon's shape a bit so it has its current appearance. Eventually the extensions will merge together and you'll have something closer to a normal space colony design, only much larger. Then they'll take the remaining material and spread it over the insides for radiation shielding and soil.

You head to the bridge to speak to the Captain about the communication issues and look for Yurika on your way up. You find her as she enters the gravity and relay the message. She seems happy about this news and goes off to the infirmary.

After leaving the gravity block and making your way past the hangers, you make your way up to the Bridge, eventually entering it and meeting her.

Mrs. Woolf, or Captain Millais, looks rather unhappy at the moment. Several technicians are examining the communication console on the bridge.

She looks over to you and tries not to direct her frustration towards you. "Yes Petty Office Dirk?" She asks impatiently.

"W-Commander Woolf told me you were having communication issues, I was wondering if I could be of any assistance."

"You can help if you wish. All of our communications aren't getting through to HQ. The last communication we received was that Leviathan was sending an escort ship to make sure we got to Big Ring safely. After that, everything went dark"

You walk over to the console and begin to run some tests...

(Roll 1d100 vs Engineering Skill. 80 or below will pass. 1 is a critical success and 100 is a critical failure)
>>
>>25662426
That makes sense, considering how Phobos is about 11.1 km in radius. It's much easier to convert something like that than begin creating another moon from the nearby debris. And as for the plating above, it'd both give them protection from the rays, would give them additional territory for agriculture, and serve as a neat defense in case of something going wrong - probably during their move towards the Earth sphere.

Hell, if we assume that Vagans rule colonies through clans, maybe he planned his clone (Zera Gins) to inherit the completed Second Moon - ablative plating and all. The Ezelcants would rule only the core, while he takes control of the entire colony. And considering how the kid is an insane murderhobo, he'd probably order it crashed into the Earth. Now, something of that size (we're talking larger than 11 km in radius) would probably annihilate everything on the surface.

It doesn't make sense to a normal person, but this is Ezelcant we're talking here. The guy who worships Social Darwinism even though he doesn't get it. Everyone would finally be at peace, mostly because they'll either die or try to reform society while orbiting the dead Earth.

Well, we know Second Moon is mobile, and can dock with La Gramis to boost its power. It probably doesn't need to crash into Earth to destroy it, once its finished. I would be very surprised if the finished version doesn't have planetary bombardment weapons. Zera Gins will have all the destructive power he needs without colony drops.

Oh shit. Crazy idea. Vagan Gear SID doesn't happen at random in this timeline, it happens on purpose. Vagan Gear is explicitly designed to merge with SID and control it. And with the mimetic drones from last thread, SID is going to be able to re-purpose structures to its needs. Gins is going to take control over SID and turn the entirety of Second Moon into one giant mobile armor with Vagan Gear at its core. It'll be the Cathedral Terra Lazengan, and bring full circle the joke that Jake is Lordgenome as we have a crazy giant battle.
>>
>>25662927
That... That'd be so awesome, I don't even have words for it.

Actually, I had a similar idea for Leviathan - we know that there're a lot of abandoned and destroyed colonies surrounding Earth. They take one, and modify it into a giant battle station whose only purpose is to take the war to the Vagan. So basically you get one huge structure, with reinforced walls and everything, loaded with weapons and artillery and automated factories based on salvaged pre-war tech. It flies around using those solar panels as a sort of solar sails, and it houses the largest photon cannon or whatever in existence - it's only purpose is to get to the Vagan and unleash a colony blaster.

And on a side note, I think that there're multiple SIDs in our timeline. We assumed that the EXA-DB SID is protecting only has stored military tech blueprints on it. Maybe there're more - some dealing with medicine, another with cybernetics, another with nanotechnology and so on. The Silver Chalice treaty basically meant that all the colonies should fall back to the tech before the war started, so they probably locked away all the tech that was developed during the Colony Succession Wars. And those apparently lasted for a couple of centuries, before Arthur came in and ended the war piloting the Gundam (see thread 1).

So the SID drones we saw attack Zarth last time? Possibly belonging to another SID (a spidery one), who's in charge of nanomachinery. And considering how Rena brought that shit and showed it to everyone, we can assume that those things are probably tracking down Dirk and his crew.

>16, 59, 79

You spend 2 whole hours running tests, examining parts, checking external hardware and checking and rechecking all the related and occasionally unrelated software involved with the communication systems.

Here's what you figured out. Everything is working perfectly. Outside of one or two maintenance issues, a 12 year old PB&J sandwich someone left in the chassis of a wire hub and some minor fragmentation issues regarding the software, everything should be working perfectly. But it's not.

That means all the problems are external. You are being jammed. Not just regular jamming, intense jamming. Microwave and laser communications should still work, unless the jamming is worse then you are to believe.

You inform the captain of this and she becomes quite worried. "This is bad, that means the Vagan are up to something. I want all battle stations on high alert. We're cut off from communications, which means we're vulnerable to an assault. Dirk, I want you to join Woolf and assemble in the hanger, I want you to deploy as soon as possible, I believe someone is after our prisoner..."

What will you do Dirk?
>>
>>25663191
"Ma'am, yes, ma'am."

Go to the hangar and fill Woolf and Asemu on the current situation. You just knew taking Zeheart with you was a bad idea.
>>
>>25663191
Listen to our captain, she knows what she's doing. Equip the Merlin with the solid ammo weapons, as we still don't have beam weapons capable of easily piercing the new Vagan armor. But rail cannons and grenade launchers should mess them up pretty bad.
>>
>>25663244
That sounds like a plan.

The Merlin is still modular, right? I doubt we made solid ammo weapons for all its slots.
I'd call Yurika along, the Phoenix wear she has was pretty kickass back on Zarth, but I guess Dirk wants her as far away from battle as possible.
>>
>>25663292
(Heads starting to hurt. Need to take a breather. Give me 30 minutes)
>>
>>25663335
Sure thing.

On a side note, we're aboard the Diva. Arisa and the other pilots from Gen-2 haven't been transported aboard, or have they?
>>
>>25663219
>>25663244
>>25663292
You go to the hanger and tell everyone what's happening. After helping everyone set up you equip the Merlin with a pair of 90mm tribarrel cannons onto one the forearms and a 2--tube missile launcher to the other. You equip an EM Bullpup and plenty of ammo clips. The Beam emitters in the knees should do pretty well in close combat but you put a pair of beam sabers on the ships just in case.

Calling up to the Captain, Woolf asks if Yurika should come down or not. Along with word of reinforcement, HQ asked that Yurika be put on standby until she can speak with her superiors in Leviathan.

That leaves you and the team to sit in the hanger and wait. Here is the current team roster.

Woolf Enneacle- WMS-GB5 G-Bouncer
Asemu Enneacle- AGE-2F Gundam AGE 2 Flat
Dirk Crocker- AGE-X3 Merlin
Arisa Gunhale- RGE-1100 Adele
Max Hartway- RGE-1100 Adele
Obright Lorain- RGE-X1000 Genoace III Prototype

You are unfamiliar with most of these people besides Woolf and Asemu. What do you wish to do?
>>
>>25663845
"So... Yeah, hi, name's Dirk. I guess I should have introduced myself sooner. Nice to finally meet you all."
Introduce ourselves, stay frosty and cool. We haven't been embarrassed in front of them. Yet.
>>
>>25663845

find out what everyone specializes in. Don't want to lure enemies into CQC with the Sniper, do we...
>>
>>25664014
If I remember correctly:
> Woolf - Super Pilot, perfect all-rounder.
> Asemu - soon-to-be Super Pilot, all-rounder, too hot-blooded.
> Dirk - X-Rounder with no training, specializes in long-distance combat.
> Obright - all-rounder, team coordinator.
> Arisa - ranged.
> Max - ranged.
>>
Idea for potential Merlin upgrade:
Allow MID to integrate with the Merlin as an AI helper, just like MaG did with the Crusader.
>>
>>25663845
We introduce ourselves to Arisa, Max and Obright. Though odds are we've already met Arisa in passing. We do hang out in the same area her dad does, after all, so Dirk could have conceivably run into her by now. On a similar note, we've got to be Obright's wingman when he starts flirting with Remi. We have to get involved. It's the Crocker family tradition to prevent love interests from dying.
>>
>>25664121
We did that with the Crusader. He gave a minor bonus to aiming rolls. Though that was when he was assisting Ma G instead of acting on his own. He's not really designed for combat support. He's still a kid, basically. Maybe by Gen 3 he'll have grown up enough to learn a profession.
>>
>>25664156
Hell, we might have met Arisa before. Didn't Dique had a chubby daughter? Wonder where's she now.

As for Obright, hell yeah, we're going to intervene as a wingman. It's probably going to be confusing at first.
> "Dirk, I don't want to see you around Remi anymore, got it?"
> "...why?"
> "I heard all about you from Asemu. How you're a ladies' man, and how you capture their hearts wherever you go. You even had a fangirl club in high school!"
> "...really?"
>>
>>25664071
>>25664014
>>25663897

You introduce yourself and take some time to learn what roles everyone plays. Max, Arisa and Obright are completely new to you and you enjoy talking to them. They seem quite nice, although they seem to doubt you and Asemu's abilities since you don't have any kind of proper training. However they seem to doubt more out of worry for your safety then arrogant douchbaggery.

From what you've gathered Max and Arisa tend to focus on ranged combat and Obright seems pretty good all around and is a great team coordinator. Max has been wanting to learn proper melee skills for a while but can't seem to get the hang of it so he sticks to ranged.

Time begins to slip by and your left sitting and waiting, not a whole lot to do. Who do you wish to talk with specifically?

>>25664121
>>25664200
MID would like to help but his programming hasn't really matured enough for him to act as a combat A.I. However he is useful to keep around in the cockpit for moral support and company, that's why Asemu brought Haro along.
>>
>>25664272
Woolf. We need to become a better pilot, and fast, and who better to teach us than the White Wolf?
Well, Jack of Pumpkins, but he's not around at the moment.

Too bad about MID. We could use an AI to help us with this.
But I guess him chirping around the cockpit cheering us is adorable enough.
>>
>>25664272
You make a good point, Crosswire. Even if our little robot friend can't help us pilot, he's still our little robot friend. What sane person wouldn't want that cheering them on?

Let's talk to Arisa. Don't we know her from somewhere? She definitely looks familiar, anyway. Maybe she's related to someone we know?

You sit down and speak to Woolf about giving you some training and he agrees to do so. "Training takes a while Dirk and during an alert isn't the best time. We'll fit it in when we can but not now"

"What do you mean we can't train during the enemy alert? I'm sure the enemy would be happy to participate" You say with a sarcastic grin, getting an amused eyeroll from Woolf.

You stop by Arisa and chat with her, finding her familiar. For some reason.

"Have we met before?" You ask, taking a seat on a crate across from her.

"Once, it was a long time ago though..."

You think and think and think some more and it eventually comes to you. "OH YOU WERE THAT FAT KID" You exclaim in a sudden moment of remembrance only to realize what you just shouted.

How will you cover your ass Dirk?

Way to respond to a comment three hours late. Well done, sir. Leave the kid alone. Besides, we're already in too deep to not have stupid references everywhere. Did you miss the part where we were on the Magic School Bus? Or the space pirate based on Hulk Hogan? Or the protagonists named after fucking Homestuck characters? It's that sort of quest thread. We encountered an Elder God that eats deodorant a few threads back. Stupidity in the name of what we think is cool or funny is what this thread is all about.

Not that guy, but STAAAAAAAHP.

Please, gentlemen, don't start arguing now.
>>
>>25665378
Yes, quite so. We came here to pretend to be socially awkward teenagers, not actual be them. Let us focus our thoughts upon the thread once more.

I expect Yurika to yell at him how that wasn't very nice.

(I agree, no fighting. However Jack is not remotely inspired by ANYTHING Homestuck related.)

"I'm... I'm so sorry about that. Please forgive me, my mouth is faster than my brain is sometimes."

Arisa stands up and kicks you in the groin before sitting back down, smiling as you float back, holding your groin in agony.

"Nah, it's fine." She says with a shrug.

"G-glad your so calm about it..." You say, feeling like your about to choke up your own balls.

After a couple minutes of choking you find out you may still be able to have children in the near future if you never call Arisa fat ever again.

Who do you want to talk with now?

Welp, so much about first impression.
Go talk to Asemu, tell him to stop laughing his ass off.
>>
>>25665672
Let's talk to Obright. We will need the friendship of a great man to help us recover from our shame. And when a man eventually reaches the point where he can calmly shank X-Rounders in ace custom suits, you want to be on his good side.
>>
>>25666011
That sounds like a plan. I guess the other pilots are over there laughing at our misery.

While we're waiting for Crosswire, we could fluff the Federacy a bit.

We know that they're run by political families (the Olfenoas, the Zarths) and that other families eventually become legacies (the Asunos). I guess that a lot of the corruption stems from these ancient families bickering and arguing with each other, going so far as to openly sabotage each other for their personal gain.

Each colony is ruled by one (or two, depending on its size) noble families, and the system that they employ varies from colony to colony (Fairdain was in a constant war between two houses, Minsry is probably controlled by Yurin's family, Nora was a democratic one and so on). Each colony is technically independent (like Minsry, which originally was a neutral colony in the Federation-Vagan conflict), but they're free to join the Federacy and its trading routes.

You talk with Obright. He's a pretty cool guy and seems to have an interest in mobile suits and piloting, as well as a certain cute engineer apparently...

"You would look really badass with sideburns" You state, looking him over.

"Really?"

"Yeah, in a couple years they'll look great on you!"

What else would you like to talk to Obright about?
>>
>>25667050
It depends entirely if Crosswire approves of the fluffing.
>>
>>25667057
"So... you're an experienced pilot? I don't suppose you have any tips for a newbie?"
"That and, what can you tell me about the rest of the crew? I'd ask them myself, but you saw how that went."

>>25667081
Just brainstorming, is all. We had discussions about the setting all the time.

(I agree that political families hold a presence in the colonies and in the Federation. However not all Familys are political. Some are industrial, others military and so on. The Asunos were originally entrepreneurs and industrial genius and still are for the most part. The Einus are a Military family and the Olfenoas and the Zarths are political/business families. The strength of the families are meager compared to what they once were but they still hold some power and some colonies are still ruled or advice by them.)
>>
>>25667219
That makes sense. So there are legacies and bickering among them, but they lost much power compared to the old days.
Possibly something Ezelcant saw as a sign of corruption in the old Federation, and decided to change it back on Vagan. That, and the cover-up of them trying to off each other in the past. Ironic, considering how apparently (by our fluff) he ended up recreating the same system back on Vagan, with one family ruling over everything, just like the Olfenoas did in the past.

And knowing what he does, that the Olfenoas covered up the failed Mars colonization, he could easily blackmail them - such a stain would probably mean the death of an entire legacy, something the current Olfenoa couldn't allow. So he allies with Ezelcant more to save his good looks and reputation then for the benefit of the Federation.

"So... you're an experienced pilot? I don't suppose you have any tips for a newbie? That and, what can you tell me about the rest of the crew? I'd ask them myself, but you saw how that went."

Obright puts a hand to his chin and thinks. "Hmmm, I guess I'd have to say is remember to use your teammates to your advantage and to let your teammates use you to their advantage. Working together means relying on each other, knowing each other and watching out for each other. Also, don't forget to watch your surroundings. Use the terrain to your advantage and abuse your enemies weaknesses. As for the crew...well they're pretty good. This ship is getting old but we have a pretty amazing crew. I have to say that the cooks really suck, your better buying your own food."

"Oh no the cooks are bad? The Vagans will defeat us for sure..." You laugh and sake your head.

"Seriously, this is a god notch crew. Dique is a great engineer. You need help or advice and he should be able to help you out."

You talk and bond with Obright a little more.

What do you want to do now Dirk? You haven't spoken at all to...what's his name again? Max?
>>
>>25667519
> bad cooks
And that's how we're going to apologize to Arisa, with a decent meal we make ourselves.

Before that, let's go introduce ourselves to Max.
>>
>>25667580
You go over and meet Max and immediately start to notice some issues. Over the course of your conversation he raises a LOT OF DEATHFLAGS. I mean it's ridiculous, eventually he ends on

"My favorite food is pineapple salad!"

You stand there, awestruck at how Max is a walking breathing deathtrap.

Before you can utter an explanation or warning however alarms scream and someone yells over the comms. "BATTLESTATIONS! THE VAGAN ARE ATTACKING!"

(And this is where I'll end things)
>>
>>25668104
See ya tomorrow for part 36.2.
>>
>>25668104
Poor Max, you'll never stand a chance. Oh well, at least the pineapple death flag requires you to go out dramatically instead of like a chump. You'll sacrifice yourself to save us all.
>>
>>25668196
Nah, we'll make sure nobody dies.
That's what we do, apparently. Save people raising death flags.

At the very least we'll prevent Woolf from dying. His death was sad enough in canon when he was only figuratively a surrogate father to Asemu. We can't let it happen now that he's literally Asemu's adoptive father. Though there's no doubt it would lead to such pathos that Asemu would level up to Captain Ash almost instantly. But it wouldn't be worth it.
>>
>>25668382
Nah, Woolf will survive and see his grandson, which will be named Ash.
We'll make sure of that.

As for the pathos, Asemu calling Flit out in front of everybody will be interesting enough.
