Recent Events Summary:

While pretending to be the summoned creature of the Archmage Yi Fang, you were captured by the Ring City. The angel Michael, one of the greatest healers in the world, is responsible for your 'examination'. But a curse he received from a Demon Lord twisted his mind into that of a psychotic madman - and you were at his mercy.

Auriel was working with him to restore her powers. You communciated with her telepathically, begging her for help and informing her of Michael's insanity. Before she acted, however, you managed to burst free of your cage and attack and consume Michael.

You snuck into the city sewers and used them to access the underground complex holding the souls of many Shadow and Spirit mages captive. You destroyed the magic holding them in place - and the suddenly-freed slaves immediately turned on their masters, throwing the city into chaos.

Intent on helping them escape, you rushed to the Airship Noiralev to consume its core and use its power, but you ran into Auriel and Flint in the engine room. They explained that they'd found the remains of one of Michael's victims. That - combined with Flint's encouragement, and her own experiences - has led her to put her trust in you.

In one swoop, she took command of the ship, turned its crew against Sandalphon's despotism, and used it as a rallying point for the embattled shadow mages huddled inside the collapsing city.

Meanwhile, you used your powers to overclock the airship's dynamo, directing its firepower and shields far beyond their normal abilities - but even still, you were overwhelmed, and your efforts destroyed the dynamo in the process. Before the airship was destroyed, you were able to charge its jump drive and teleport to safety.

And now begins the latest round of XP bitching and moaning on spending. I'm voting for Tao still.

The battle has rendered the Noiralev useless, but you managed to safely guide the craft to one of many stone plataeus in the Shiprakers, an isolated and desolate region where Tarun Gakth meets the sea. You've convinced your fellows that the best place to set up something more permanent for your renegades and refugees is in the Great Forest. The spirit mages, led by Hamil, are currently putting together a mass teleport spell to bring you there.

You've started scouting the surroundings, hoping to find some trace of Steward or his proclaimed home, City 001. But finding something in the barren waste has proven harder than you first suspected.

After ensuring that Ila is a trustworthy leader of your new group, you spoke with Sir Flint - and you both agreed it was time to see the archmage, Yi Fang. You flew with him to the mighty fortress of Archon, and met with the mage in person.

Abigail is already twisted into a complex political situation. Fang requires his own trustworthy leader to succeed his position - and he sees Abigail as that leader. But unless she performs, her admission to the Archonium - a requirement for any could-be councilor or archmage - is in question. Fang sees you as the "summon" that will ensure none question her abilities.

Okay, I've spent slightly less than 2 days catching up on the archives.
Got interested in the quest while randomly lurking /tg/ for something interesting on the 18th in my boredom, expected it to be edgy as fuck due to the name, luckily it wasn't, definately glad I checked it out. Nice job SM, one of the better quests I've participated in so far.Too bad about the timezones though. It ain't easy being an European
Here's some random opinions and ideas I've thought about.
About the dynamos. We could try to make it out of a darkness mana pool instead of ourselves/our magic. The mana pool is raw magic if I remember correctly, might make a huge difference.
I also don't think we should devote too much to reseacrching it right now, they would probably require XP to create and we are coming up to the point where we start desperately needing alot of it, for developing ourselves as well as Haven (Shadow Turrets, Mana Pool, possibly dynamos and a load of undiscovered things).
We could also try to get Auriel to make some spinning circles of light around it, maybe the light repels the darkness due to opposite elements and keeps it together, just an idea.
We also should find out more about mana pools for the future. (I think we should hold off on making one now though, we need the XP for upgrades and possibly servants in the more immediate future.)

Things like: How detectable are they, if we put one in the new camp in the Great Forest, what would the chances of someone else discovering us be? How do they interact with people? I assume that Shadow and Spirit mages can draw ambient mana near it alot faster, but what about the Angels and Light mages?
Would it somehow hinder them or make them feel uncomftorable? We should ask Ila if she felt anything when near the Light mana pools in Ring City.
Also, if I remember correctly we got a spell to create storage in the Nether, we should use it. We have some important stuff like the sun-moon key and the 2 shadow sword shards that we should put there just incase we get captured or something, so that we don't need to go through the trouble of retrieving an utility belt from hostiles.
The 1 mana it costs to take stuff out isn't much and we don't really have the need to take either of those items out for a long time. I think that's all for now, forgot atleast a half of what I was thinking during my 3 hour sleep.
Also, this is all just opinions and questions made so that people start thinking a bit, I'm not that good of a thinker, but I can atleast get things started.

What I don't seem to get is why the hell does everyone want to Servant Abigail. Could someone explain that? You find the shadow magic pool easily. It shines at you like a dark beacon that follows you throughout Archon.

The room in which it is contained is virtually lightless. It's set up half as a sort of meditation room, and half as a source of power for the fortress's magic. Wood benches line the stone floor. Black and white tapestries depict various scenes. One shows a moon seen through the branches of a tree. Another displays a dark shadow poised over a battlefield, wielding a sword inscribed with purple runes.

This late, the chamber is empty. You walk up to the mana pool. It's encased in a lattice of steel and adamantium - as much as to protect observers as to draw energy into Archon.

You slip through the metal constructions and touch the pool.

You meet Sir Flint in the atrium. He's practicing his swordwork - against none other than Adavan.

The lich isn't fighting directly - he stands against the wall, his arms folded, looking calm and composed. But his eyes flick and dart with orange light. A glowing sword, hanging in midair, duels with Flint. You can feel him controlling it.

Flint's parasite twists. He stumbles forward, toward the oncoming sword!

But just as suddenly, the sword turns flat. Flint takes a sharp rap on his shoulder as he stumbles, but he gains his feet without trouble. "Again."

Adavan sighs. "The parasite - "

"I know about the damn parasite," Flint says. "When I thought I just had two left feet, I didn't use that as an excuse. I won't start blame all my failures on this thing. Again."

Adavan starts to raise his hand, but he sees you and stops. "Shadow. Back from your midnight stroll?"

Adavan nods, then turns up the stairs. "I'll see you at breakfast."

Flint makes a face as Adavan retreats. "...I swear I almost beat that damn sword. He's turning tail, I tell you."

Flint grins. "It IS confusing. Everyone's confused by it. So, you're right where you should be." Flint's face goes serious. "...are you saying you love Abby?"

Actually, i think having more humanity can potentially open us up to gaining fucktons of temerity. Being more human, and having more emotions, means more opportunity for those emotions to go sour, get twisted and abused.

I get the feeling that someone with high temerity and humanity is what a good king should be. They have to make harsh, dreadful decisions, but they also have to rule with compassion and wisdom. If there's going to be a super-powerful being on the face of the planet then it's probably be for the best that it has high humanity and temerity.

You aura shivers, the wraps around Adavan's shoulder. You don't actively control it - it simply happens. It grows, and climbs, and leaps of its own accord, a part of you growing over him like a bristling, warping skin.

Adavan swallows hard as the power grows. Purple-black light flares, shining around him like a halo. And then, it fades.

You withdraw your arm, but a part of you stays with him - it's a part of him, now.

"...that feels...interesting," Adavan says. He stretches out a hand. Orange light flickers at the end of his fingertips as he channels mana - but now it's joined by a smoky aura.

He frowns deeply. "...something..." He squints, and darkness begins to build on his back. It grows, morphing quickly, then fluting out into what are unmistakably feathers. They settle into a firm shape, and Adavan gives a single beat of his new wings. "Now that...is interesting."
