LAST TIME ON GUNDAM AGE QUEST: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Gundam+AGE+Quest

Check My Twitter for updates and reschedules about the quest: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Gundam+AGE+Quest

Your name is Jake Crocker. You, the “Magnificent 7” X-Rounder Special Forces team and your old friend and the reason you exist, Daiki Ryuuzaki, have just activated the Grand Wing System and are traveling a few minutes into the future to bridge the distance from Earth to Mars in a matter of minutes opposed to a matter of months.

However upon entering the time stream you have been met with a horrible monstrosity the moment the Treasure Star enters the Time Tunnel. It’s a large black, shapeless mass blocking the tunnel 300 meters down the tunnel. It’s less of a monstrosity really and more of the mother of all toilet clogs. Maybe you overreacted thinking it was a monstrosity, but still it doesn’t look like anything you want the ship or anything else for that matter, to touch

What do you wish to do Jake?
>>
"Wow. Still not as scary as my wife."
"Prepare for evasive maneuvers. I don't want that thing anywhere near us. Daiki, you're the time travelling expert around here, what the hell is that thing?"
>>
>>25512104

Is there a way around it?
How much of a bad Idea is shooting it?
can we drop out then jump back in?
Will Pancakes solve the problem?
>>
Open fire.
>>
>>25512104
"Somebody get me spectroscopy on that thing. I want to know if it's made of normal matter before I start panicking about Elder Things from beyond time."
>>
>>25512533
Would spectroscopy even work in a time tunnel? Aren't we moving faster than light at the moment?
>>
>>25512571
Maybe? We can see it, though, so there's some sort of optical interaction. I figure we can at least tell if it's made of atomic matter or not. This thing, even if it isn't actually alive, is a lot scarier if it's made of quark-gluon plasma or some such exotic matter.
>>
>>25512625
Agreed on that. We're probably facing something with enough density that it disrupted the time-space continuum, which is always bad.
Hell, considering all the possible shit that can happen, this may well be the Treasure Star going back in time.

We need an analysis of this thing, and to slow down the ship and take evasive maneuvers.
>>
Wild mass guessing time (we haven't had one in a while):
What if Daiki isn't the one who altered the timeline?

We know that the Treasure Star had a larger crew, so what if one of them slipped away while they were traveling to the past and he changed everything? His disappearance could have easily been overlooked in the chaos that followed once they returned to their timeline, so no one would actually notice the perpetrator missing.
>>
>>25512452
"Daiki can we use the ships weapons?" You ask, hoping to be rid of the damn thing as fast as possible.

"Now while the Grand Wing System is running." He says with a frustrated shake of the head. "If we want to use the weapon systems we'll have to shut down the Grand Wing System before this sequence can finish and trust me. You don't want to do that"

"Can we at least slow the engines down?"

"Well I can slow down the progress rate of the Grand Wing System's sequence, that should do that trick..." Daiki adjusts some controls and the ship halts to a dead crawl. At this speed you won't reach the creature for at least an hour.

>>25512137
>>25512533
>>25512625
"Someone try using the sensors, I want to know what the fuck that thing is and it BETTER not be anything resembling the Elder Things." You demand and the Magnificent 7 get to work.

"Daiki what is that thing? Your an experienced time traveler of sorts, what is it?"

"I've never seen anything like this but...sometimes we ran into things. Mostly it was other ships and pirates, I liked to call them Time Pirates. Apparently when two things are trying to travel through time at once they tend to bump into each other. I guess this is one of those times only...I have no fucking clue what that thing is. All I know is that it wasn't here the last time I was." Daiki says with a worried look on his face.

Rena reports their findings. A lot of their sensors aren't working due to the fact they are traveling through time and space but they did figure out a few things.

-It's made of regular matter, not some kind of anti-matter or exotic plasma.

-It's a mix or organic and inorganic material

-And ether has time travel capabilities or was placed here by someone with time travel capabilities. Since what you leave in this nullspace, stays in this nullspace according to Daiki.

What do you wish to do Jake?

"Can we evade it somehow or steer around it? I'd rather avoid touching this thing, I have a nasty feeling it's alive and dangerous."

>>25513784
Let's not. I have this bad feeling it can infect the ship and that it's the equivalent of the Thing combined with some space ships.
>>
>>25513866
"There's not real way to avoid something in here" Daiki says with a sigh. "That's why I named it the Time Tunnel. You don't want to know what happens when you hit the walls of the tunnel"

"Well shit, I don't exactly feel like blowing something up. For all I know that thing is some kind of demon-god that will infect the ship and turn this into some kind of bad horror movie" You say with a sigh.

"We could always take our mobile suits out to investigate it" Desil suggested.

"Or we could plug our mobile suits generators into the main gun and cook the fucker" Rena suggests.

"Maybe we can communicate with it?" Carlos shrugs, trying to think of something.

Well Jake? Any ideas?
>>
>>25514010
"Carlos... Yeah, let's go with that."

Could we perhaps make a probe by using the AGE builder and some of the spare materials we have at hand?
Throw some optics and scanners on the missile, remove the payload, and launch it near the thing to remotely investigate.
Use the probe missile to check that abomination out. Add to the probe some communication relays.
>>
>>25514010
Let's do the sensible thing and send a group of people to be diplomats to the creature.
>>
>>25514126
It's going to eat us if we get too close.

How about this.
Let's make that probe using the builder and send it instead of us to investigate that thing. Outfit the probe with sensors, scanners and communication arrays, so we can establish contact with the Elder God from a safe distance instead of risking our lives. Meanwhile, just in case, we plug the suits into the main gun.
Or if the probe making isn't an option, just open communications arrays while keeping your distance.
>>
>>25514010
>communicate
for the love of god don't let carlos say anything
>>
>>25514126
>>25514029
>>25514184
>>25514180
You have plenty of materials for the AGE Builder, but only an hour till you reach the probe. Obviously you want communication devices and sensors on the probe, but is there anything else you want on it? Arms, legs, maybe a built in bomb?

What would you like on in Jake?
>>
>>25514629
Optic cameras, microphones, all kinds of sensors. As for communication, a radio transmitter and something that'd allow us to communicate via light signals. Throw some regular communication devices as well. Add some small thrusters so that the probe can examine the thing and move around. And a couple of arms in case we can get a sample of this thing. The sample needs to be in a container we can quickly analyze and that we can dispose of even quicker. And throw in a self-destruct system, just in case.

We need this thing to be a fully functioning robot that can be controlled remotely - we don't want to risk the lives of our men.
>>
>>25514761
You give the probe Thrusters, tracks, arms, the works. For unusual communication, you give it a light and microwave transmitter. In 15 minutes you manage to get the probe finished and launched. By then the Magnificent 7 have hooked up their mobile suits to the gigantic DODS Rifle stretching the length of the bottom of the ship and serving as the ships main gun.

"We have enough power for one shot and plenty of missiles to follow it up!" Rena declares.

"I hope we don't have to use it though..." Carlos says with a worried expression.

"Don't worry, the SUPER DODS Rifle can blow anything away, we didn't keep it around for nothing" Daiki says, smiling confidently.

"Where did you get it?"

"I fought a gigantic version of the AGE-1...it's a long story." Daiki explains.

What do you wish to do Jake? You can have the probe get close to the entity, communicate with it, make physical contact, take samples, or scan it with it's more fine tuned sensors.
>>
>>25515001
Slowly approach the damn thing all the while scanning it.
Occasionally emit a light signal and a hailing frequency, and see if it responds. If it does, attempt communication.
>>
>>25515113
>>25515151

Thirding this course of action.
>>
>>25515151
This. Also, take some samples if the probe gets close enough without any response. I want a better compositional analysis of this thing.
>>
>>25515237
That too.

I'm just worried that taking a sample of this thing doesn't immediately turn it hostile and it begins lashing with some biotech tentacles at us.
Or that the sample turns into something that infests ships and we end up abandoning the Treasure Star because IT WANTS US TO GROW INSIDE ITS WOMB.

Fuck. We're going Gundam meets Event Horizon tonight, aren't we?
>>
>>25515286
Almost certainly, yes. Maybe we'll get lucky, though. Maybe it's just a mix of organic and inorganic components because it's another timeship collapsed by the exotic physics of this place, and we're detecting the horribly mangled corpses of its crew fused to the metal. Still horrifying, but not a self-replicating horror.
>>
>>25515113
(Thank you for the reminder, my memory SUCKS)

>>25515151
>>25515177
You move the probe closer and attempt to communicate with it on every hailing frequency in and out of the book with every transmission and receiving device on the thing.

After a mere minute you get...a response. At least it sounds like a response because you've never heard a damn thing like it. Put a kitten in the microwave, bolts in the blender and throw a man legs first into a running wood chipper, listen to all this at the same time and you might have a fraction of what you hear.

"What the fuck?" You mutter.

"You might be able to translate it using the Treasure Star's systems. A program here might do the job"

You run the program through the computer, inputting in the situation, the time, the scenario, the context and after five intense moments of waiting for the translation you finally get to see the entity's message which reads....

DO YOU HAVE ODER EATERS?

You read the message and immediately assume the message is wrong. However no matter how many times you send it back it always comes back the same.

"Guys, what do you make of this?" You say, showing everyone the message.

"It thinks we stink?" Carlos suggests

"Maybe it actually requires odor eaters?" Rena says with a shrug.

"How many does it need? I got a whole bag full of them" Duke says, unzipping a duffle bag full of the damn things.

Well Jake, how do you want to approach this? You can communicate with the entity, ask it questions and receive answers much faster then before. You don't believe the translator is malfunctioning...

Oh god. It fits the Bydo perfectly. Bizarre technological/biological fusion, cast into a temporal non-space only to emerge in the deep past of an alternate timeline. Well, maybe we'll at least get Force technology from this.

"This is the Federation ship Treasure Star, and we come in peace. Can you read us? We have received your message, but we're having trouble understanding you."

And the ending would be disappointing and consist of Jake choosing between three colors of an explosion.

( "I choose the forth color. FUCK YOU" would probably be Jake's response to the three color option bullshit)

"This is the Federation ship Treasure Star, and we come in peace. Can you read us? We have received your message, but we're having trouble understanding you."

You wait a moment and get a reply.

ODER EATERS. WE REQUIRE ODER EATERS
>>25516287
"Why do you require them?"

FOR SUSTENANCE OF COURSE. WE KNOW THE TALL STINKY ONE HAS THEM IN QUANTITY AND WE DESIRE TO CONSUME THEIR PURE SINK-CANCELING GOODNESS.

WILL YOU GIVE THEM TO US OR DO YOU REQUIRE COMPENSATION?

Well Jake? What the hell do you make of all this?
>>
>>25516758
See what you can get. They may have some sweet tech.
>>
>>25516758
"Duke. Man. Cthulhu just called you stinky. Did somebody record this, because this is the funniest shit I've heard in a while."

To the ship:
"Okay, we shall give you the 'odor eaters' as a sign of friendship. Do you accept?"
>>
Rolled 56

>>25516758

"You know what, I don't even care anymore. Duke, The Aliens want your Oder Eaters. Deal with them, I am going to go and make an imprint of my head on this metal panel here..."
>>
>>25516758
"Um, sure, alien people. Take our odor eaters. Let us call our drone back and load them onto it, and we'll ship them over. How did you know we have them, though? We're behind a vacuum-sealed bulkhead with enough radiation shielding to block most scanning systems. That's some pretty impressive senses you've got."
>>
>>25516813
"And... in return, a small favor. Could you perhaps move from our path? We are unable to change course, and we'd like to avoid a collision with you."
>>
>>25517205
"And... in return, a small favor. Could you perhaps move from our path? We are unable to change course, and we'd like to avoid a collision with you."

OF COURSE. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. FEED US OUR ODER EATERS AND WE WILL BE ON OUR WAY.

You load the Oder Eaters into the probe after it's return and send it back to the entity...which promptly open it's millions of mouths and tears the probe to pieces, chewing the metal and the oder eaters slowly and methodically as it opens a hole in itself big enough for the Treasure Star to get through.

Ordering full power you pass through the entity and it is soon behind you, eventually disappearing into the distance.

“That was fucking weird” You say aloud, thinking on the weird ass situation.

“Did I say everything made sense when traveling through time? No. Also, if you see a blue box flying past, don’t stop it or talk to it, trust me the guy on their brings nothing but trouble and he'll bitch about pears."

“What?”

"Never mind"

Daiki explains it'll be an hour until the ship will finish it's time travel process. Is there anything you wish to do in that time Jake?
>>
>>25517746

>>
>>25517746
Weep. Weep for the loss of our illusions that the universe makes sense. We just fed odor eaters to an Elder Thing. Nothing will ever be right again.
>>
>>25517780
It would be nice to know its name. We told it ours. Provided it's not the sort of thing that would destroy our minds to know, I'd like to have a name to put to that encounter.

"I promised you adventure beyond your wildest dreams. I delivered you humanity's first encounter with an alien god that feeds on deodorant."
"Stick with me, gentlemen, and you'll see even weirder shit. Like, that one time me and Flit were stuck inside a virtual reality by an insane AI..."
I guess we should unplug the suits from the main cannon, hopefully we won't need to arrange for it again.

>>25517856
We'll probably run into it again on our way back. Or maybe it's following us. It's an elder god, I wouldn't be surprised if it is able to communicate at this distance.
We also might have found a way to safely destroy the Treasure Star - we open a time traveling rift, load this thing with Old Spice and have Yog Sothoth devour it.
>>
>>25517981
And there's the name for the encounter - Old Spice.
>>
>>25517856
>>25517780

You didn't get to ask it any questions however you did give it your name and got it's name in return. It's name is NUGSHEGORATH apparently. Doesn't exactly roll of the tongue does it?

You tell the long, exciting story of your battle against a crazed A.I all while having the mobile suits disconnected from the main gun. As long as the Invisible Umbrella system or the Grand Wing System aren't activated, you'll be fine.

You still have some time to yourself. What do you wish to do now Jake? Nap, talk with the crew or just think on how fucking bizarre that encounter was.

You talk with the crew some more. You learn from Duke the horror's of body oder and his almost phobic fear of it, thus the duffle bag of oder eaters. He seems almost destroyed at their lose, all you can do however is tell them that the Vagan homeworld shouldn't stink.

Jessica and Zeal are pretty excited about everything. They apparently haven't had many adventures before. "Stick around me and you'll have plenty!" You say, tosseling their hair out of reflex.

You mess around with Carlos and Desil for a while, until you notice the ship the Time Tunnel is gone and there's something strange in the distance...

"That's a weird moon." Rena states.

"That's no moon..." You say, eyes widening.

(And this is where I'll end things tonight. Tomorrow you guys will get to pick between Scarlet and Dirk's scenarios)

Would such a thing even function as a rail weapon?
I'd love to see something like that, but haven't we established (in the quest's universe, as far as I know) that rapid firing rail guns are simply too energy consuming and that we don't have the necessary power output for our suits for something like that?
Hell, I don't think that even the EM bullpups are capable of rapid fire, and those things are closest we've got to rail-based assault rifles.
>>
>>25521450
Backpack power supply?
>>
>>25521518
Or a direct connection to the ship. Which would only leave the problem of overheating the damn thing, but we probably could create some heat-sink system. Possibly steal that idea from Mass Effect 2 where you don't actually replace the clip holding the ammo, but the heat sink the gun uses. The enemy is still faster and more mobile, but that won't mean jack when you're shooting faster than he can move.
And if we go with a backpack power supply / direct connection to the generator thing, we could increase the impact of each bolt fired. And after our last battle with the enemy where we needed several bolts instead of one to take them out, we definitely need a greater damage output.

Did we just make Devastator Gundams?
