Miho's Panzer IV slowly drifts to a stop, a thick trail of oily black smoke drifting upwards from the ruined engine compartment. As it creaks to a halt a small white flag springs up from the top of the turret.

You are the commander of the M26E1 Pershing Heavy Tank "Black Jack" and as you watch your team's commander's tank smoke and smolder, Darjeeling's Black Prince rounds the corner at a stately pace. You blink once and then pounce into action. The Glorianna commander had made a crucial mistake- you might not be the best team player, and the rest of your team might be green, but she's let this battle evolve into a duel and that is your bread and butter.

"Richard, reverse back, get the hill between us." Black Jack is not the most nimble of tanks, but compared to the 50-ton Black Prince it was a sprite. Immediately, Black Jack reverses back around the square's central hill, you keep the turret squarely on Glorianna's last tank.

You'd have a shot before them, but it was AP in the tube and you'd need HVAP to guarantee a kill.

"Up!"

>Aim for the turret- a lucky shot my blind them or damage their weapons.
>Aim for the hull- Try for a lucky kill.
>Aim for the tracks- a mobility kill will buy you time to get some range.
>>
Welp, so much for sleeping
>>
Aim for the turret. Let's trust Rose's aim
>>
>>25477273
>Aim for the Hull, we can penetrate 132mm of sloped armor at 500m with normal AP and we are at point blank, we can kill it now.
>>
>>25477332
This!
>>
>>25477332
Also to add on this is flat armor not sloped so it will be even easier to penetrate.
>>

>>25477273
>Aim for the tracks- a mobility kill will buy you time to get some range.
Easier, less likely to fail.
>>
>>25477273

Try for the turret ring. Being a low mobility tank, killing it's ability to rotate it's turret makes it harder for it to aim. Especially if the turret is off center...
>>
>>25477450
I doubt range will do us much good in urban combat. Still, I know where you're coming from there.
>>
I hope, if we win, Darjeeling in Anglerfish costume catches our interest. She is one of the few non-Ooari girls I would not mind our character ending up with.
>>
>>25477273
>Aim for the hull.
At this distance given the power of our gun, any shot will kill the Black Prince. Remember it only has 152 mm of armor and it isnt sloped.
>>
>>25477273
>Aim for the hull- Try for a lucky kill.

Ja, das ist gut.
>>
You do the math in your head- the armor piercing round will defeat 130mm of thirty-degree sloped armor at five-hundred meters- the Black Prince probably has frontal armor thicker than 130mm, but it's not sloped and you're nearly point-blank. "Richard, hold. Gun on target, Rose. Hull shot." It might work.

"Got it." She says, shift the aim downward slightly as Richard brings Black Jack to a stop. "Firing." The entire tank shakes with the power of the T15 main gun- the shot is dead-on accurate into the frontal plate of the Black Prince.

"Roy, load HVAP. Richard keep going, get us around the corn-" You're interrupted by Patrick patching an outside broadcast up into your headphones.

"-rince is disabled. Glorianna Girls Academy has no available tanks. Oorai High School is victorious."

You blink. Opening up the commander's hatch you stand out and look over at the Black Prince, a neat hole punched through the outer-armor, the shell only stopped from entering the crew compartment by the internal safety armor.

The Black Prince's commander hatch opens with a short belch of dust and smoke before Darjeeling climbs out, a stunned look on her face and a noticable tea-stain down the front of her blouse.

I'm not too well-versed in the lore surrounding the setting, but I though that the shells and armor were designed like the MILES system used by the US Army, and that the shells were never meant to actually penetrate, and that computers were supposed to handle all of the necessary calculations.
Are tank shells really supposed to penetrate the armor like that?

History class isnt supposed to cover every war. its supposed to cover the major events that lead to today, and you try teaching several hundred years of history in less than a year.

History classes are there so that people at least have a general idea of how we went from apes in africa to the modern world and that means focusing on peace as much as war.

Hitler was arguably a good leader, but really was a great speaker which was what got him to leadership.

But the dude was deranged even before the war. "Living Space" as he called it included all of Russia up to the Urals. And he wanted to populate it entirely with Germans. After killing all the Russians. Germany didn't have the people to populate such an area, not even close.

And really, the German Army wasn't that great.

Sorry, ranting in thread is bad I know.

>Ugh, mein Deutsch is schlect.
Deine Rechtschreibung lässt zu wünschen übrig, ja.

>Man, sollte ich ins Deutschland fahren wieder. Berlin war die beste.
'Mann, ich sollte wieder nach' Also, a construction like 'X ist das Beste' is usually avoided on pain of sounding like an idiot. I would suggest 'Berlin hat mir am besten gefallen' or 'Berlin war sehr schön' to avoid a plump global superlative. Those may be good custom -if not superior form- in Japanese and English, but are frowned upon in the context of German as they imply a lack of comparable experience or reflection. They essentially force anyone with a different opinion to openly contradict you so you limit your statement to either your own experiences and perceptions, formulate a non-superlative phrase or narrow down the scope of the superlative.

Yes, I am using commas as I see fit and not always as official grammar intends it. Problem, officer?
>>
You leans forward over the rim of the commander's hatch. "Hey! Darjeeling!" You say, snapping her back to attention. "I think your tank might need a bit of a wash." You say, wry grin on your face. "Seems it might have gotten a bit dirty." Yeah, you're gloating, but after what she'd said before the match, what was she expecting?

"Oh, I... I see." She says, running a finger over the top of her vanquished heavy tank. She still looks a bit stunned before she straightens up and nods at you. "I underestimated your tank and it's crew. In fact, your entire team performed better than anyone would've ever expected."

You nod at her appreciatively. "Thanks. It was a great fight- good game." You finally look back over at Miho's PzIV- She and her crew had wisely stayed buttoned up until the fight was over.

Not as boxy as the Maus though.

Which is the point.

Add to that the fact that the Tiger has bits and bobs on the outside. It actually looks like a complete tank, rather then something a kid would draw. Because that's what the Maus looks like. Big, boxy and made up of mostly free space.

And the Maus was exactly as shitty as it looked.
I mean in the design meetings, Heinz Guderian, Germany's number one guy when it came to tank warfare, tried to talk sense into the retards, explaining that it's too big, too slow, and useless against infantry, among MANY other problems. But they blew him off. So after a while of that, he basically gave up, and sat in the back of the room sipping coffee and drawing dicks on his scrap paper.
Okay, so I made up the part about dicks. Maybe. Let's be honest here, Guderian was a military man, he probably drew his share of bathroom stall dicks in his time.

You are now picturing Guderian writing "Adolf loves the cock" on the bathroom stall walls in the Eagle's Nest.

Pulling yourself up out of the turret, you slide down onto the hull and climb to the ground. Miho is helping Yukari and Saori down from tank- a wisp of smoke and soot stains on their faces attest to a small fire that must've broken out when they took the hit the engine. Richard is already up and out of the driver's position and you jog over to the disabled Panzer IV.

Richard immediately embraces Saori as Miho helps Hana and Mako down out of the tank. You finally get her attention. "Commander," You say with a grin. "Thanks for the save- that Comet had us dead."

Miho blushes. "I just wish I could've helped more..."

You grin at her. "You guys did plenty! How are the other crews?"

"They're all fine- Rabbit crew got behind some rocks and waited for the fight to pass them over..."

Without warning a hand claps on your back. "You won!" Anzu says cheerfully. "Excellent job- You are already earning your keep!"

You turn and stare down at the Student Council president. "Yeah, we won. So that's the end of all this Jellyfish dance business?" You say, hardening your voice. Saori perks up at the mention of the evidently reputation-ruining dance.

"The Anglerfish Dance?" She corrects you as she reaches into her breast pocket and removes a bag of sweet potato chips. "'Fraid not, Commander."

You blink. "We won. You said that-."

"You won, Commander. Black Jack won. The rest of the team hardly did anything- if you weren't here we wouldn't have done a thing." You pulls a chip from the bag and starts nibbling. "However, as I see it this was a group failure- so the rest of the crews will be doing the Anglerfish Dance. Shared responsiblity, shared punishment."

Behind her, Momo gloats silently. "That includes our crew, Momo." Anzu says.

"What?! I-I can't-" Face falling.

"We'll discuss it at the debriefing later." Anzu says with a tone of voice that implies that there will be no discussion. You look back towards Miho's crew- Miho herself looks confused, while Saori is weeping into Richard's shoulder.

>"That isn't fair! You don't get to just change the rules like that!"

Anzu and the other higher ups have shown many times that even though they say they want a team to "WIN", they instead have shown they are not putting full effort (be it tanks, funds, or materials) into getting the team fully battle ready. they have also proven to with hold important information about our opposing teams AND our own situation. The bottem line is that Anzu (and her crew) has shown a team killing mix of lack of trust and team work. along side the lack of time to practice and understand the performance of the tanks and their crew is also not helping.

This has to be corrected and fast! with Miho and the MC taking total (or near enough) control away from the bumbling and arrogent president.

They were a stopgap for the Poms until they could design a tank that could carry a larger gun.

They literally won't fit.
Unless you mean squeezebore adapters in general. In which case the Little John was only a stopgap, to extend the service life of the 2-Pounders past the point of their obsolescence. And none of the tanks Ooarai fields ever mounted a squeezebore adapter, so it'd be a rules violation even if we could make it work.

That ain't fair. "President- The StuG and PzIV crews both-" You begin; not every crew was completely up to par, but even without you it wouldn't have been a complete wash!

"Ah!" Anzu puts her finger up to interrupt. "We'll discuss it at the debriefing."

You seeth under your skin, but you know anger doesn't get anything out of Anzu, you have to play her game. "Then you won't mind if, for the team's victory, we go out for celebratory Ice Cream, then?" You say cooly. "Afterall, if the team shares our failures, then they should share our success."

"Why not?" Anzu says, patting you on the shoulder. "Get me the receipt, the Student Council will pay for it." Anzu turns around as a group of vehicals finally gets to the scene to transport the participants and clear the wreckages. "Let the rest of the team know that Debriefing is in two hours. Momo? Anzu?" She says, getting into the side-seat of a jeep being driven by some senshado official. "Let's go."

GRAGH! You were outmaneuvered again- just when you were trying to be the good guy she goes and makes it easier! "And I still have no clue what the Anglerfish Dance is!"

See, this is the crap I don't like. We make it clear we don't want something, we instead get "Ah ah, that's now how I'm writing it, she shuts you up."

Whiiiich doesn't make sense, considering we have been shown to be quite loud and clear when we are unhappy.

Everything going on is suggesting Anzu is going to have some fabulous plan, or some sob story to try and make us feel bad for her. I think the votes were quite clear about what we wanted, and despite our dislike of what Anzu is doing, we suddenly just let her do what she wants?

Ugh. Sorry BlackJack, this is really just lazy writing and railroading.

Yeah, its like he takes the winning choice, and then uses that as an excuse to lead into a premade piece o plot

Its fucking annoying when we debate and discuss for ages, and then the winning vote has no impact nor even semblance to what we voted for.

we clearly had certain expectation of what we voted for would ensue, and yet BJ completely twists it for his own purposes, BJ, if you're going to be a dick about it, at least make the options resemble the actual outcomes because all we're doing is voting to go east, and you make us go west, before spinning 720 degrees and falling off a cliff.

I want to get in touch with Blackjack and ask him why he's writing a quest and posting to /tg/ instead of writing a fanfic and posting to FF.net.

Yes, we won this fight, yes, we'd have probably lost/extended if we went for something other than "Fuckit, point-blank 90mm AP", but I feel like outside of tactical choices and deciding who to interact with (Find Yukari/Miho/Erwin/X), there's not really anything.

Next Time on GuPQ is a bit of that - I feel like Blackjack already has it written out, at least in vague terms - This, This, and This happen. We cannot change tha--- I know exactly what to call this. I feel like I'm reading a CYOA, not playing a game.

Is there some sort of IRC? Steam? Somewhere I can talk to Blackjack that isn't Here?

Heck, GhostDivision does the same, it's one of the reasons he does it once per week.

yes, but his plans revolve around the choices of his participants, BJ's do not

>>
>>25482910

>>
>>25482934

So you don't have proof that this could've only ended in victory?

I mean I'm not sure why I'm arguing this actually, if BJ comes out and confirms it you guys will just bitch like when we lost to Miho due to paranoia.

Yes, I know. Every GM has an outline planned, not all of them tell us. I just feel like I can't significantly deviate FROM the outline.

My fundamental question to Blackjack is "If the majority of the thread says 'Fuck this, we're going to Saunders'", would he write it?

The entire point of rolling dice and pretending to be wizards (as opposed to Vidya or Books) is the ability to say to your party members "Fuck this, let's go do something completely different" and turn "Fight The Evil Necrolich" into "Sky Pirates" because sky pirates are objectively awesome.

I digress, but basically I feel like GuPQ could easily be a fanfiction. A half-decent one too. Despite my complaints, Blackjack is a decent writer, and though I feel like he's doing anime-with-addition style plot (Rather than original idea do not steal), it's decent. No, above average. It's not shit, but it's not brilliant. Content is good enough, equal parts Tank and Social, characters are written well-enough (Except Anzu, not a lot of depth there). To repeat myself one more time because why not, I don't know why Blackjack is writing a quest instead of a fanfiction.
>>
>>25483006
Considering he wrote (or still writes) Thunder and Lighting for SWQ. Yeah... I mean really at this point it doesn't feel like the players can do anything that's outside what he has per-planned and has felt like this for a long time now.

Tsundere a shit. Especially the newer kinds that go from "Like" to "Hitting" at the flip of a coin. That's not Good Character anymore than lolinsane murderhobo is. That's bipolar.

You want a good underused archetype? Yaoigirls. Yaoi Girls are bestgirl, always. Or how about Useful Competent Women? You know, you got your typical lead or First-Mate type, except He is a She, and isn't even hiding it. But no, we can't have that because Japan. Anime would be so much better without Otaku and Jap Culture. Of course if they pander to americans, it's yonder upthread DEM FREEDOMS, so fuck that too.

All I want is realistic, believable characters that don't fall into the traditional archetypes and/or gender roles. Yes, yes that IS too much to ask.

What you actually want, is more of what YOU like. Nothing wrong with liking it, but to say that anime would be so much better without otaku and Japanese culture?

Something that anime is created and based around in the first place, along with in-jokes, puns, standard archetypes, and so on?
