You are Lord William Bordain, Lord of Morderengrad and the Norther Valley. Some call you the Iron Lord, as your wealth flows from the arms and armor you sell, and your demeanor is as unflinching and cold as castle-forged steel. Those who oppose you are forged into your next weapons, or crushed and tossed to the winds.

Two years you brooded on the slaying of the Targaryen children, the deed that won you your Lordship, while your lands fell to bandits and saboteurs. Within the last two seasons, you have quelled these troubles, and made your lands safe again. You are betrothed to the Lady Alyssa Tollett, and will one day be Lord of Grey Glen in addition to your other holdings.

Having recently uncovered and defeated a plot against you by servants in a nearby House, You've turned your eye to a more prolonged campaign: your wedding to Alyssa Tollett. Having accidentally thrown the grandest wedding not directly involving a royal family in the last thirty years, you found yourself besieged with well-wishers from around the Seven Kingdoms, with the King himself at your wedding. Tywin Lannister wants you to join a plot, Littlefinger wants you for Business, and Oberyn Martell wants your head.

Luckily, your family has arrived. Unluckily, apparently your older sister hates you now.

You're wrapping up dinner with your family, Jon and Lysa Arryn, and Your fiancee and her father, when you ask for your sister to see you in your solar after the meal.
>>
>>25457068
What's our sister's first name?
>>
>>25457068
Hells yes, my favourite quest is starting!
Time to be a bundle of complicated feelings!
>>
Woo!
>>
>>25457068
Shit I'm going to miss this! I'll look it up when over so please if you get us killed let it be awesome.
>>
As a start of the thread list of things you care about:
-Your sister apparently hates you.
-You fight Willas Tyrell in two days.
-You probably fight Oberyn Martell if you win.
-Your bannerman has to fight Oberyn the day before.
- Tywin wants you to become Hand of the King.
- You are getting married in less than 5 days.
-This squab is a little too peppery.

>>25457093
Meghan. If you like, I can provide a full background and description of her before your conversation.
>>
>>25457174
Damn squab.

And yes, background and description on our sister would be greatly appreciated.
>>
>>25457068
Hey hey, did we tell our Artisan Blacksmith to start on the Dreadnaught Armour? The sooner we get him working on it, the better!

>>25457174
I'm torn between background info and wanting to get to the fightan.
>>
>>25457174
Squab? Too peppery? HANG THE CHEFS FROM THE BANNISTERS!
>>
>>25457210
Maybe he's new, and unused to cooking with such exotic spices such as pepper?
>>
>>25457174

Ok, lets try to talk to Willas before the joust, talk to Roberto a little more and get our men ready for the viper also ensure our wife to be is happy.
>>
>>25457174
>what the fuck is squab?
>stop, googletime!
>domestic pidgeon?
Excuse me, I need to go throw up.
>>
>>25457187
Your sister, Meghan Ruttiger, is one year older than you, making her 20 years old at present, of an Age with Cersei Lannister and the Kingslayer. She shares your dark hair, and some of your height, standing around 5'9". She wears your father's colors of Black and Orange, though she has always hated them. (Seriously, think of how hard it is to make those two look good without going full Tiger.)

She was two years younger than your brother Tytos, and preferred playing with you to your brother. She has some of the famed Ruttiger Rage (What, you thought you were the only temperamental one in your family?) which may be one of the reasons she's still unwed.

She used to have a crush on Jaime Lannister, though you've not spoken in 4 years, that might have changed with the whole "Kingslayer" thing.

>>25457256
You do know that they had to change wines for this course, as the vintage they had selected had gone sour. Perhaps it's a matter of not being able to cut the sauce correctly.

I'll describe the set-up to your sister's conversation in a minute. (Cobbling together a dinner for myself.)
>>
>>25457306
Lost your nick?
>>
>>25457290
The domestic bit helps a lot though.
At least their diet is not limited to plastic and garbage.
>>
>>25457174
The squad is poison! The viper shows his hand! Call for the maester a and make the viper eat the rest. I am not joking.>>25457187

>You do know that they had to change wines for this course, as the vintage they had selected had gone sour. Perhaps it's a matter of not being able to cut the sauce correctly.

I wouldn't know, I tend to abstain from alchohol in general.
>>
>>25457343
It wouldn't surprise me actually if Oberyn tried to kill someone from our family if he can't get us. He might actually go for our sister now that we know her name. As revenge for the death of his sister.
>>
>>25457306
>You do know that they had to change wines for this course, as the vintage they had selected had gone sour.

Nothing Dornish I hope.
>>
>>25457306

Well if we're having squab any sweet red would've done fine.
>>
>>25457343
No need to go that far.

Although it probably would be a good idea to have a bloodsmith or two be stationed in the kitchens and wine cellars.
>>
>>25457318
Yep, and then 4chan ate my entire next post.

give me a minute.

For Korbis escorts your sister to the solarium while you bid farewell to your guests. You feel like you've made good steps today, entertaining your Lord and Lady, while forging a bit of a bond between your family and Alyssa's. Now you just need to sort out your own family...

The solarium is lit by torches, since the night has fallen, the orange glow glinting off the corners of the panes that make up the roof of the room. Your favorite room in the castle, during the day the glass ceiling allows you to feel more out of doors, providing you some relief, though you still long for the long days in the sunlight and cool breezes, where meetings were held in tents or courtyards. Most lords use their solarium as a salon, a place to chat with guests and pass the time. You use yours as a personal office and refuge. You recall spending at least one night staring up into a passing thunderstorm, during your self-imposed imprisonment.

The room is sparsely decorated. A desk sits against the far wall, beside the door that leads to your chambers. In the center stands a round table that, whatever its intended purpose, is your default work/meal station. The floor has several rugs upon it, and a few chairs and couches line the room, mainly so your captains have a place to sit when in conference with you.

Meghan stands beside the window, gazing out upon the tourney grounds.

As the initiator of the meeting, it falls to you to speak first.
>>
>>25457404
You already handled that. Your Bloodsmiths are actually quite excited for all the extra work this week. Egar notes that it's "Like we're at war again!" His smile when he says it is comforting, in a violent way.

>>25457290
Squab's a fairly common dish, especially in the older times, because their was less in the way of truly unhealthy offal for them to eat.
Think of it as a Cornish Game Hen.
>>
>>25457552
"Hello Meghan, it's been a long time. I've missed you, I've missed you more than I can say. Though this isn't how I was hoping us seeing each other again would go.

You've heard a lot of terrible things about me and the things I have done. I won't insult your intelligence by trying to outright deny what has been said of me. Not all of it is true, some is a lie and exaggeration, I did not in fact pick up a taste for drinking blood nor do I grind bones into my steel, but most of it is based in fact, I did kill children and get rewarded for it. I am often as cold and unyielding at the steel I make, I am a murderer and a villain. I could say that it was because I was ordered to, that it was my sworn duty to do so, that some men must do what others will not, but that doesn't change what I did.

Westeros has called me these things, and I have endured, their words have not weighed on me. But you were the one I wished least to call me a murderer, one of the few who could cut me deeply with words.

I do not expect you to forgive me. But I will always love you no matter what you say.

Do try to get along with Alyssa, I think you'll like her quite a bit if you give her a chance. She is innocent in what I have done and deserves none of your hate."
>>
>>25457689
Using this if no one else posts in 5 minutes.
>>
>>25457802
The only alternative I have is an awkward attempt to break the ice.

Also not sure who's left in the thread.
>>
>>25457852
>>25457802
Same. Maybe tentatively ask her how she's been.
>>
>>25457852
>>25457916
So in summation maybe not break right into the speech just yet.

This is an awkward situation, not a Shakespearean play.
>>
>>25457852
I never know who's in. Also, I did start early with very little warning. We'll probably pick up in a bit. ANYWAY, time to turn that wall o' text into something a little more in character!

"Hello Meghan, it's been a long time. I've missed you, I've missed you more than I can say. Though this isn't-"

"MORE THAN YOU CAN SAY?!" She yells, throwing a nearby book at you, which you handily dodge. "What kind of tripe are you trying to serve me, Will?"

You sigh.
"This isn't how I was hoping us seeing each other again would go."
"Well, I wasn't hoping to be the sister of a MURDERER."
"Look, clearly, you've heard the terrible things about me and the things I have done. I won't insult your intelligence by trying to outright deny what has been said of me-"
"That's a smart move. I mean, it's not like it isn't the talk of the entire Seven Kingdoms!"

She is not making this easy on you. On the plus side, you think you're making progress.

"I WILL SAY," you start, before gaining control of yourself. "...not all of it is true. Some are lies and exaggeration, I did not in fact pick up a taste for drinking blood nor do I grind bones into my steel."

She snorts. That's a good sign, you think.

(cont.)

>>25457930
As a Shakespearean actor, I...will point out that most people who do that in the plays are SUPPOSED to look stupid.
>>
>>25457930
I'mma argree with this guy, that speech sounds way too rehearsed.

I kinda want to get back to running our kingdom, it's been what? 2-3 threads about this wedding so far, and it seems it'll be another 2-3 threads to go.

I wouldn't mind if this quest ran more often, but having this wedding/tourney take a month to a month-and-a-half of real time is quite frankly, depressing.
>>
>>25458030
C'mon man, be glad you're getting a game at all. We're at the mercy of Page's schedule, the game only runs when there's free time.

Anyway, political intrigue is a part of this game. Our recent actions have forced what could have been a low key political marriage into a fullblown story arc. Just enjoy the ride.
>>
Honestly I think we should just tell her that we really don't care what she thinks of us. But we still want her to know even so we care about her and we did what we had to do.
>>
>>25458030
>He thinks I don't intend to end this shit today.
Trust me, I'm in a similar boat. The main thing is you keep building relationships, which, while a good thing, takes forever to do properly.

You've got less to go than you might think. (Of the next 4 days, you don't have anything to really do for half of them.)

BACK TO SIBLING TALK.

"I did, however, kill children. And I was rewarded for it. I am often cold and unyielding as the steel I make, I am a murderer and a villain. I could say that it was because I was ordered to, that it was my sworn duty to do so, that some men must do what others will not, but that doesn't change what I did."

"You could have NOT done it."

"And then what, Meghan? Someone else would have. Some one would have hacked them apart like a pig in springtime! At least I killed them quick and clean! AT LEAST I DIDN'T LET THEM SUFFER."

There is a silence, as you take a few deep breaths to calm yourself, and your sister looks at you, some light in her eyes you don't recognize. You continue, spitting out the words:

"I got it, you know? When the smallfolk called me those things. When they were muttered behind my back But you, I expected least to turn on me. I thought the memory of who I was would hold your judgment. I am sorry that I was wrong."

Suddenly, it's not worth it, to be angry at her. She's just someone else who'll never really know you anymore.

"I do not expect you to forgive me. But I will always love you."

"No matter what you say."

As she opens her mouth, you snap your hand imperiously, cutting her off.

"Do try to get along with Alyssa, I think you'll like her quite a bit if you give her a chance. She is innocent, no matter what you think of me, and deserves none of your hate."

(cont)
>>
>>25458237

You gesture for her to leave.

"Goodbye, sister."

She looks at you. Not glaring, as you would have expected. Not screaming or cursing, as you feared. Just...looking. After a moment, she walks to the door.
"Goodbye. Lord Bordain."

CURRENT TALK: END

What do next?
>>
>>25458268
Sit there for a bit in our solar, think about what just happened, go for a walk out on the walls, get some fresh air.

After that we'll head to bed.
>>
>>25458268

Get a big bottle of wine and talk about our frustrations to our horse while we are getting shitfaced.
>>
>>25458326
Broodin' time. We'll get over it in the morning

>>25458343
Too many guests for that. You want them to think we're crazy?
>>
>>25458343
"You know Sthelgarr *hick* you're a thruh friend ya know that! *hick*. Evryone else keeps calling me murderer and stuff!"
>>
>>25458365
So we must look longingly at our horse while we seek comfort in our wife?
>>
>>25458268
Maybe call in our maester for some advice on what to do with jousting.

Like it seems as if our only choices are to be marked a coward in front of everyone, or ride against a guy who loves poison and really really hates us.

Can we maybe covertly switch out his lance for a new one? That isn't covered in poison?
>>
>>25458326
>>25458365
You spend the evening Brooding, in the patented Bordain style.

>>25458343
This post made me laugh ridiculously hard.
"Ffffuuckin', ffuckkin' bitches, right, Shtel? I mean, I guesh, Mares, for you."
"Hmmgf"
"FIne, shure, jusht eat your fuckin' oats, then, Fatass!"

THE NEXT DAY, it's the ARCHERY CONTEST.

Anything urgent you want to take care of, politics to be had, people to appease, or do you want to just watch the contest, and watch Grell terrify people?
>>
>>25458155
It just felt like this arc is going to drag on, and I would hate to see it end like how MEQ did. It's more of a matter of pacing that it is of schedule.
We'ven't gotten to manage our house in a while, and I really miss that aspect.

>>25458237
I figured the tournament would take a least a thread by itself to resolve.

>>25458268
Train our ass off for the tournament, bottle everything deep down, and release it explosively on the lists.
>>
>>25458469
Spend some time with our wife, watch the Archery contest with her, watch as our man curbstomps the competition.

Maybe we should meet up with some more of our neighbors and trade partners, just for a friendly chat, see what they've been up to lately.
>>
>>25458475

Thinking we should practice some in the morning of that day. Then afterwards ask our new maester what he thinks so far about the climate and the likes.
>>
>>25458469
I think we should spend some time with Lord Tywin.
>>
>>25458518
Yeah that sounds good, add in the part with watching the tournament with our fiancee.
>>
>>25458550

Sure if we have free time after talking to the Maester lets do that.
>>
Who's the sworn man facing off against Oberyn, again?

I know the Maester said that he'd have a lot of antivenoms and other cures for poisons of all sorts ready at the Tourney, but "accidents" can happen. What can we do to minimize deaths by Oberyn?
>>
>>25458622
Well I mean the lances have to be made of wood so make sure not to be cut by any splinters?
>>
>>25458589
>>25458550
>>25458524
>>25458518
That morning, you ride our some of your aggression in practice with Stelgar. Afterward, you all for your maester, as you tuck into your food.
Arban is wearing a robe similar to the one you met him in, though now in the Light Greys and Blacks of your house.
"Milord?"
"Arban, tell me, how is the climate treating you?"
"Well enough, my lord, though my robes need to be of a thicker cut than I am, used to. Oldtown was not quite so cool, and of course Dorne is much hotter."
"Good to hear. Listen, my bannerman Donnal Clamon-"
"Rides against Oberyn Martell on the morrow sir, I know. I shall watch the fight most closely, with my medicines at the ready, sir."
You grunt, happy to have a man with as much foresight as Arban.

That resolved, you proceed to the tournament, talking amiably with your fiance, and invite Lord Tywin to sit with you as you watch the proceedings.

(Anything specific to say, or just want to build rapport?)
>>
>>25458707
Just generally rapport.
>>
>>25458707
Ask him how things are going in King's Landing, and mention that Jon Arryn seems awfully haggard. Hopefully he'll recognize it as a subtle dig asking for more information before we agree to any of his plans.
>>
>>25458707
Make sure to show some pride when our sworn men are competing, because watching Grell win at archery is going to be fun.
>>
>>25458707

We should talk to Willas he is the heir of Highgarden and even if he is our opponent we should tell him good luck. So I guess this is before he got cripple or in this timeline it never happen?
>>
Sorry I'm late.
>>
>>25458707
Tywin isn't the sort of man to gamble with his money is he?
>>
>>25459007

I'm unsure when Willas got crippled, but it was done so in a tilt against Oberyn Martell.

Since he's signed up for the lists, I think that he either hasn't been crippled yet or something else happened.
>>
>>25458857
>>25458820
>>25458799

You speak with Lord Tywin as friendly as you can, including a subtle mention of Lord Arryn's exhaustion at the young King's demands. Tywin nods, and says he expects as much. Given Robert's youth and...straightforward nature, Jon Arryn must appease many of the older Great Lords, being a more dab hand at diplomacy.

The first round, Grell shoots perhaps the poorest you've ever seen him shoots. A full inch from the bullseye. Still in the second ring, and good enough to pass, but for the man, a bad shot.

Seeming to take this as a personal attack from the gods, he proceeds to cluster 8 arrows in the bullseye on the second round, even though the round only needed the first three. Several archers quit upon seeing the feat.

The final round, It's quickly narrowed down to Grell and one other archer. Their first shots are beautiful, slamming home with perfect ease. For the second, Grell waits for his opponent to lose, before shooting his arrow from the air.
(Fucking 29 archery.)

Unfortunately, such a shot is technically illegal, and the judges rule that Grell is disqualified. Even so, when presented with his ribbon, the winner, one Eric Stone, merely walks over and hands it to Grell, before asking if he can try to do the same move.
Grell looses an unsteady shot, which Stone clips the feathers from, sending both shots into the dirt. The two shake, clearly impressed to find someone almost as skilled as themselves.
>>
>>25459135
He became crippled sometime around 286 AL.

OH MY, JUST LOOK AT THE TIME.
>>
>>25459136

HIRE THAT MAN!

Seriously, someone almost as good as Grell deserves a post.
>>
>>25459136
Good to see he made a friend.

Now who does this Eric Stone work for?
>>
>>25459136
We must have this man in our retinue. I do not care who he is sworn to!
>>
>>25459136
>>25459167

Stone is a bastard name right? That should mean we don't have to pay any kind of premium for social status.
>>
>>25459182
>>25459167
Eric Stone, despite his last name, is a Knight of the Reach, and one of Wilas Tyrell's personal guard.

You may attempt to convince him to switch loyalties, if you desire.
>>
>>25459336
No need, he's good where he is.
>>
>>25459336
Eeeh... nah. I doubt we want to piss off Wilas Tyrell.
>>
>>25459336

Too risky. We'll just have to watch the lesser-known names and see if we can't get any good talent from there.
>>
we really should get the first hedge knight we jousted with.
>>
>>25459383
>>25459346

IN that case, we move to the next day! You ride against Willas Tyrell, Heir of Highgarden this morning. This afternoon, Donnal rides against Oberyn Martell.

Any pre-joust preparations?
>>
>>25459449
Make sure our armor hasn't been tampered with. Inspect our lances to make sure all of them are blunted and unpoisoned.
>>
>>25459449

Greet Willas before the joust his him luck and apologies for not greeting him before.
>>
>>25459461
>>25459475

Both of these are fairly good ideas. Though Martell actually likes Willas so I don't think we have to worry about him doing that as much.
>>
>>25459461

Could we do the same thing for Donnal? Or would that be perceived as too publicly mistrusting Oberyn?
>>
>>25459578

It doesn't seem like it, seeing as most people are aware he's a dodgy bastard.
>>
>>25459475

Seconded. Being polite to Willas is certainly not a poor decision.

>>25459461
Also seconded. Checking our armor, our lances, our horse, our saddle, etc etc etc is without a doubt going to be very important.
>>
>>25459578

For Donnal I think we should just mention he should check everything out before hand because who knows what plans could be going on here. There is plenty of political reasons to do this not even adding Oberyn to the equation.
>>
>>25459578

Probably a bit mistrustful.

>>25459612

Sadly, as Page pointed out last thread, right now Oberyn is actually rather liked. He may be a vicious snake, but people like him right now.
>>
>>25459650

Yeah, but isn't our feud with him pretty blatant right now?

I guess we might lose a bit of face if we appear openly mistrustful considering we curbstomped members of his family.
>>
>>25459475
As a point of order, you did receive Willas at the feast. There just wasn't any direct RP in the thread, because the two of you don't really know each other. He gifted you 5 casks of Arbor Gold.

>>25459513
First, you find the Heir of Highgarden, Willas Tyrell. He is easy enough to find. The young boy is tending to his gear, and clearly excited to have done so well. His curly brown hair hangs in a loose halo about his head.

"Lord Bordain!" he calls as he sees you. "I'm so excited! I hear you threw a man over ten feet! I hope I don't go half so far, but I'm ready to give do my best, milord!"

The boy, and boy he is, for he is still but 15, a squire still, is happy to take your wish of luck, and wishes you luck as well.

You then spend some time inspecting your gear, ensuring that all things are in order.

Finally, it is time to Joust.

As you ride up to the lists, you ride forward, and touch your lance to Willas's, and notice that his left stirrup is twisted. A small trick, it's sometimes used by knights who wish to remain in the saddle, or it could be an honest mistake. Most senior knights don't use it because if they fall, it means they're trapped by the stirrup.

Do you

He glances down, and you can see a bit of flush hit his cheeks. He leans forward.
"Thanks, Lord Bordain."

Here's an actually noble idea, that will probably play remarkably well with the watching nobility.

Ride the first round with our lance at high point. Do not aim for his shield at all, just hold it and hold ourselves. It's seen as a chivalrous act and is one done to show honor to an opponent without possibly causing harm. Kind of like a very respectful nod of the head.

I can almost guarantee that it'll earn us more than a bit of respect amongst the actual knights and "respectable lords", and may help us with reputation for drawing some of the lordless knights into our service.

In our youth we weren't a knight. That came just a bit before the butchering of children.
>>
>>25459900
You roll two degrees of success. Willas Succeeds Animal handling to resist unhorsed. (If you had rolled 1 higher, you'd have put him in the dirt.)
Willas hits you just as hard as you hit him.
And you go down. (You rolled 1,3,1,1.)
Unless you want to spend that destiny point to reroll?
>>
>>25460051
Spend away.
>>
>>25459991

Jesus, spend that shit.
>>
>>25460051

Don't spend.
>>
>>25460065

>>
>>25460051
I dunno, I kinda wanna fail so we don't have to fight the viper.
>>

>>

Negative. Ensure that we go down is fine. It bows us our of facing Oberyn and does it with honor.
>>
>>25460099
Because we want him dead too.
>>
>>25460051

I say we spend. We get a spent one back fairly soon and it gives us a chance to take out the viper and win the tourney which would be a big asset.

Yeah, I'd say spend. We have 4 after all.

The issue isn't that we want Oberyn dead, the issue is that we don't want his lance he uses to have been soaked in some horrifying shit so that when it splinters and we get poked, we die by shitting ourself to death. We really do NOT want to face Oberyn yet, honestly, we are good, we have been lucky, and we haven't seen TG dice truly fuck us as hard as it can yet. And that may put a damper on the wedding. Also, if we win our own tournament, it's going to put us into the tournament circuit and going to these incessant things. Much better to allow our reputation to inflate that we rode with the best and did damned well considering that we weren't raised to the lance as much as most lordlings and knights.
>>
>>25460051

I don't want to lose on purpose but I don't think spend a destiny point to win this match is worth it. So no don't spent the destiny point if we lose let us lose with grace. Plus the crown is paying for our wedding already it can also pay for our horse and armor.
>>
>>25460117

No.

If we joust Oberyn, either he cheats and kills us, or we cheat to defend ourselves and disgrace our honor in front of the King and all the lords of Westeros.

It shows honor, and gets us out of Oberyn's way just in case.
>>
>>25460393
Seconding.
>>
>>25459957

I get the idea that it would be a chivalrous gesture, but how exactly does it translate that way?

Not saying I'm opposed, I'm just unfamiliar with jousting etiquette.
>>
>>25460393
I support it, hopefully we won't be blinding by 'glorah' and try to keep going.
>>
>>25460393

No, don't make it obvious that we lost on purpose. We don't want anyone to think we're afraid of Oberyn.

Lose to Tyrell as subtly as possible.
>>
>>25460393
Because throwing a match is "honourable".

No, it'll show us up, and people will think less of us.
>>
>>25460426

It acknowledges that this is a worthy opponent, and that while we were lucky with the second hit, the first hit should have ended it, it also acknowledges that the other guy is more skilled/lucky this day without bowing out.
>>
Alright, quick vote: Who wants to do the honorable "Yield and salute", and who wants to finish the joust with the rolls? I see at least 3 for the former. I'll take whichever has more votes in 6 minutes.
>>
>>25460331

He is fairly rational though. He will want to kill both of us and he really can't though poison. Because it will be way to obvious. He could though and that is a risk I admit. But if we win it will send a message. But to be honest I'm fine either way. But if we just give right now in a obvious manor we look like a coward too afraid to challenge Martell. So we should at least make it look like we are trying.
>>
>>25460426

Also, would it not sort of disappoint Willas that his opponent bowed out?

I think if I were a young man, dipping my wick into jousting, I'd hate it if someone bowed out to me.
>>
>>25460455
No, we shouldn't throw the match.
>>
>>25460455
Ehh, it'd look like we through the match because we're scared of Martell. I say go for it.
>>
>>25460440

It's not throwing a match, it's a way of one competitor acknowledging that the other is better without admitting defeat.

>>25460435

Also... again, not showing that we lost on purpose, just that we are stating Willas is a better jouster than we after two hard passes.

Page, question, am I right in my statements or utterly wrong?
>>
>>25460455

I vote for the option that doesn't end with us dying in agony to Dornish poison.
>>
>>25460455

>>
>>25460457

Finish by rolling. If we lose, we lose. No sense bitching out at the last minute.

>>25460611

Honestly I would say closer to 10. This is a fairly popular quest and this is a very important decision compared to most.

Because I'm not to eager going against a guy who's claim to fame is poisioning people at every opprotunity.

Remember, our nickname is 'The Molehill' because we're basically a smaller version of The Mountain, who himself was killed by Oberyn.

Yet /tg/ seems to have a massive boner for wanting to fight him.
>>
>>25460482

You are...mostly right.
Remember, at present, you are still REVILED. That means that you just take a penalty to all social skills, and everyone starts a step lower when they meet you.
Your actions would be read by many as "The boy is better than me". Others would take it as a form of cowardice, but many of those would also take winning as a sign of "picking on a child."

WIllas himself, having FELT your blows, wouldn't think you a coward.

Alright, it seems a majority want to ride this thing to the end.

Rolling for willas...
And... we have a winner!

Willas keeps his seat, and slams a heavy blow into you.
You keep your saddle, to the cheering of the crowd. Wait...that's, not the crowd...that's...the pounding of your...
blood.
From the stands, your fiancee watches as you make it to the end of the list, only to slowly tilt backward, and drop your lance.

YOU HAVE DIED.
Kidding, kidding. In reality, I had to go look at the jousting rules, and learned you still take damage from tourney lances that hit. You took 10 damage over the match, (you have 9 health) and passed out. You're alive, you'll just need to spend the next few days recuperating. Which means you're unconscious for Donnal's match.
Unless you want to swap PoV characters.
>>
>>25460798

DONNAL IT IS.

Alright, you are Ser Donnal Clamon, Anointed Knght of the Seven, Landed Knight of the Vale, and informally, Lord William Bordain's spiritual advisor.

Of late your lord has been distant, wrapped in plans for his upcoming wedding. The tournament has proven to be a great opportunity for you, and you're about to go up against Oberyn Martell himself, when your lord's Maester, the new Dornishman named Arban appears at your tent.

"Donnal, I bring news."
"Then enter." He steps inside your tent. You are praying before your portable altar to the Seven, hoping for the warrior's blessing in the joust.
"William has fallen."

Your heart quails at the words. He was too young, you think briefly. Stranger, why must you take him now? The boy had a bright future, if only his pain could be soothed. Your grief burns quick to anger.

You rise, drawing your blade. "Who has done this? That Dornish Snake?! I'll have his head,, Prince or No!"

"Fallen literally, Donnal." Arban interjects "He jousted longer than he should have, and passed out. He lies in his chambers."

You seat yourself on your cot, relieved to hear your lord has not passed on.

...

Alright, given the number of votes for just waking up and getting a summary, and the fact that I have to go in half an hour, in the interest of expediency, here's what I want:

Roll 5d6 9 times, and 4d6 6 times.

Hey hey, you know in the RPG that these GoT quests are based off of, The LORD is the NPC? And that we play as their sons, daughters, sword swords, and ect?
>>
>>25461716
Considering we switched to Donnal's POV rather than waking up, evidence points otherwise.

I had a complaint way back in the beginning of the thread that our pacing is sluggish, and so far, all we've managed to accomplish in this thread is have a short chat with our sister, and fight one two tilts against one opponent.

It feels like we're barely moving forward.
>>
>>25461827
Yes, we're ALL ready to be done with the joust. Including Page. Thank you for your nuanced, original take on this topic.
>>
>>25461827

It's a wedding tourney.

It's not supposed to be really exciting.

Just some slow fun. (That's my opinion anyway)
>>
>>25461825
Not in any A Song of Ice and Fire game I've ever played in. I've run 1 campaign, and played in one, and both times one of the players was the Lord.
>>
>>25461716

I don't mind he took a decision, I mind he call for a vote and then disregard it. Better not he didn't bother with the vote at all and just go with the roll from the beginning. Its nothing mayor lets keep moving I am just it so he knows better next time.
>>
>>25461883
It's the largest tourney not thrown by the royal family since anyone can remember and is being attended by the king himself.

If anything this should be a huge fucking deal.
>>
>>25461926
I'm kinda pissed that skipping alternate POV's wasn't even an option in the roll.
>>
>>25461949
Honestly I'm worried because of this. Because holy hell this is the best situation for political moving ever for a long time. Lets hope we don't get screwed.

Oh wow am I angry.
That's like, the 4th fucking post 4chan ate today.
Then it locked the captcha box for 8 minutes.

Let me summarize the post, before I go blind with hate.
>Slow guy
We're actually jumping to the summary. I wrote the intro, realized it would take too long, said "fuck it, just give me some rolls, I'll tell you what they meant later."
>Busy guy
I actually had to start this thread early, because I forgot it's my friend's birthday party tonight. I don't think I've called any others before midnight.
I am busy though. 3 Jobs, a Shakespearean Full-length play going up in a month, and keeping a social life
>Why no wife point of view?
I was about to do it, when a wave of anti-wife posts came up. I like to keep you guys as happy as possible, so I figured the roll could give you the wife, but it gave a chance to avoid it.
Which I was happy with, because writing female characters is a big problem for me in play writing.

Give me 7 minutes to draft up the summary.
>>
Goddamn it is seriously fucking summer in the thread tonight.

>>
Okay, we're getting a bit off track...

Is it possible to have a buckler attacked to the upper arm of our armour? Since we can't wield a conventional shield with a 2h weapon, we should look for ways around that.
>>
>>25462163

But we use a warpick. Which is a 1 handed weapon. Which we use with a shield.
>>
>>25462198

It's something like this:
>>
>>25461967
1 was William. AKA the unconscious guy. That was "skip alternates"
I could have made that clearer, I suppose.

In the main, I didn't realize this alternate view points thing was going to be so divisive, with some really intensely anti-wife people, a lot of pro wife people, people who didn't want anything at all, etc.
So I decided to roll it, and then realized I didn't have time. Had I been paying more attention ten minutes beforehand, I would have not offered it, and we'd have skipped that whole kerfuffle.

So, you pass out for...10 hours. You awake that night, in your chambers, to find your fiance beside you.
"What-"
"You're ok, my lord." She says immediately, putt a hand on your chest to prevent rising.
"What happened?" You ask.
"I bear good news and foul, my lord. Donna lrode against the Viper, and they went two tilts, neither gaining the advantage. In the third tilt, Lord Oberyn looked me in the eye, smiled, and on that charge, lowered his lance, driving it into Donnal's side!" He eyes are red from weeping. "By Luck, Donnal unhorsed him with that blow, but he has been in your Maester's care since, my lord."

(Gotta make these poison rolls. Hoop de doo. As a fun side note, if Oberyn had rolled 1 lower, he would have been unhorsed on the first tilt, and would have had to move to another plot.)
>>
>>25462198
So... Does this mean we can attach a buckler to our armour while weilding a tower shield?

>>25462302
Yeah, It turns out it was listed under Crowbill on the table, which is why I couldn't find any detail about it.
>>
>>25462317

Yay. Our bloody Maester is going to be useful right now.
>>
>>25462317

Hug her. Then ask for Willas to come to our side and have a drink with him in congratulations.
>>
>>25462317
Oh that fucker.
As much as I want to kill him, we have to let him go for now. He has us over a barrel, but now, he's added himself a nice cosy spot on our shit-list.

He should feel proud of himself, he's in very distinguised company!

He honestly kind of screwed up here. Because now everyone knows he is willing to do that in a joust.
>>
>>25462436
Yeah, we should warn everyone we know from fighting the viper. He is so intensly blessed, that his enemies suddenly drop dead from non-fatal wounds!
>>
>>25462413

Tell the maester to give him something so he spends the rest of the wedding on the latrine. No one will blame or us for that kind of shit.

>>
>>25462517

>>
>>25462317
At that moment, Maester Arban enters the chambers. His eyes light at seeing you.
"My lord, it is good that you are well."
"Of course I'm well, what news of Donnal?"
"Good and bad milord."
"Ominous."
"The poison used was Widow's Blood, milord. It...it is not a pretty poison. A man drown from the poison of his own bowels. It is also not easily cured. It is however, fairly easily staved off by one such as I."
He hangs his head for a moment.
"Then again," he says.
"I am no man's fool. And just because a thing is not easily done, does not mean I can't do it. I will have our Ser Clamon on his feat in time to joust Willas tomorrow, if he pleases, this poison no more taxing than bad pork."
He beams, clearly taken by his own cleverness.

This is great news!

The next day passes quickly, and in a startling upset, Donnal unhorses Willas in the Second tilt! (seriously didn't expect that, but it's what the dice say.)
Willas is so excited to have done as well as he has, and congratulates you on your endurance, confiding that two of your three tilts nearly unhorsed him. He is sad that your man was wounded, but happy to see him raised and well enough to defeat him.

Next time: I tell you the results of the Grand melee, we have a BRIEF. I MEAN NO MORE THAN AN HOUR AND HALF WEDDING, AND WE MOVE THE FUCK ON.

Alright guys, I archived the thread. Use it to talk about whatever you want Iron and Hate related, Game of Thrones related, or how much you hate Page related.

I'll read it later, and if it survives this party I'm going to, I may even respond.
And yes, assuming your maester can PROVE that it was poison, you could get Robert to do something about Oberyn.
>>
>>25462772

I think you ran the quest well :)
>>
>>25462772
>assuming your maester can PROVE that it was poison, you could get Robert to do something about Oberyn.

Yeah, let's do this.
>>
>>25462772

I hate Page. I hear he farts in public and never excuses himself.

Just kidding
>>
>>25462795
The problem was the whole "Take control of someone else" thing. Things like that cause shitstorm, especially with female chars.
>>
>>25462772
Are the first two threads archived somewhere? I've completely caught up by i like reading the creation and start of the quest...
>>
>>25462852

Mentioning that I suddenly have a hilarious image of someone yelling we are waifuing. Even though she is his wife.
>>
>>25462852
Yeah, I probably wouldn't have even thought to do it, except I thought to myself "I want them to have that cliffhanger fall to the ground, but logically, they'd be unconscious. I know, Alyssa will see them! Use that for dramatic effect, and we'll just wake up. ...Or...."
Then bad things happened.

>>25462873
The threads themselves have links in them, which I know cover the two you don't see by searching the archives.

>Next time: I tell you the results of the Grand melee, we have a BRIEF. I MEAN NO MORE THAN AN HOUR AND HALF WEDDING, AND WE MOVE THE FUCK ON.
Thank god.

>>25462935

But we need more detailed descriptions of the food and the order that they were served to all the guests!

But in all seriousness, I was kinda surprised at the detailed descriptions of Lord Karban's various meals in Princely's quest. Though inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, it added a surprisingly hefty amount of flavor to the game (no pun intended).

The links to the first 2 threads are in thread three

If you want to medival food porn, just grab a Redwall book, they tend to be good in that.
area.

(Or Page can steal from Brian Jaques, whatever.)
>>
>>25463013

Oh christ no. I really hated that about the Redwall books. It's also my main complaint about the actual GRRM books.

And my real complaint about the Jordan books isn't the food porn, it's the huge history and family tale of the person who made the button that a minor character saw on a shirt they passed in the street while on the way to meet another minor character who just happened to look at a horseshoe made in blah blah blah blah
>>
>>25463013

Also, the easiest way to find them in the archives in my mind is just by searching one word. Bordain.

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Bordain

Or just searching Game of Thrones.
>>
So, Tyrell has our suit of armor, and, OUR DRINKING BUDDY!
But, we've got his armor and horse, and now we have the Viper's steed and his armor.

Does that mean Donnel won the joust?
>>
>>25463191
Hmm, I didn't know the suptg search hits up summaries as well as tags, Neither of those has all the threads however.

If you pair up =Bordain with =Game of Thrones you get them all, I think.

>vicissitudo Aancir
Goddammit captcha, do you hate me or something?
>>
>>25463222

Pretty much, yeah, except that our sworn man has Tyrell's armor. And Donnel won it, not us. It's his choice on what to do with it. Considering he also just won the jousting purse, and wasn't poisoned to death by Oberyn he's liable to be a very cautiously happy man.

We should get his ass married.
>>
>>25463281

Brother, I had one in fucking chinese earlier. I just about shat myself.
>>
>>25463222
>>25463301
On the other hand, this is a PERFECT excuse to forge Dreadnaught armour, not only will it prevent this kinda shit from happening again, but if anyone wins it from us, it'll likely be useless for them!
Well that, and we need some new armour...
>>25463321
Captcha is an asshole, no doubt.
>>
Hmm...

Who, if anybody, should we bring up the idea of the poison to? Should we respond in any way at all, even?

I mean, if we broach the subject to Tywin, he'd probably think of some way to strike at the Viper, but... Well. Tywin. Gah.
>>

It was hyperbole compliment.
There's a proper british metric fuckton of good fiction. GRRM is just a well known one.
In this scenario, It's praising accuracy to the series. It's like a really good- spinoff novel or something.
>>
>>25466649
Please don't, saying he has a good quest is fine, but saying 'you are the best writer of medieval fiction apart from GRRM himself' is retarded.
