Ah, Tuesday. that day that reminds me it's quest time by giving me horrible losing streaks in WoT till I ragequit and get posting. Almost like it's a conspiracy. almost. If i wasn't so burnt out on farming in warframe, i'd play that instead.

anyway, no new news.

Archives here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Strike%20witches%201989 They're kind of long, but if you've got time to kill...

List of characters here: http://pastebin.com/zFxWNup1 also works pretty well as a cliff notes version of the archives, if you want to jump in without reading for three-four hours.

++

You wake up with a sudden gasp, a half-remembered nightmare fragmenting away in your mind as you blearily slap for your watch. 02 in the morning- way too early to be up, but you're not likely to get back to sleep tonight.

Truth be told, you've been having these kinds of things happen a lot more frequently, especially since after Tanana. You'd go see someone about it, but they might ground you if you do, and besides, it's not like it's anything major, right? Just your mind handling the stress you've been under.

Besides, every pilot dreams of death. Well, you think. You've always been kind of unique in that regard- you're not invincible, and you're well aware of it. It's your job to stay between the witches and hostile fighters, and you've got to stay alive to do it. That was one of the things hammered into your head relentlessly in your early days- you stick with your witches, you interdict and provide the BVR capability they lack. You dive in, guns blazing, as a last resort.

Of course, you also had a bad tendancy of letting Orion pressure you into popping off every bit of BVR you were hauling and diving in anyway, guns blazing and sidewinders tearing from your rails. Sometimes it worked, sometimes, it didn't. When Ice took over, it got curtailed quick- you operated by the book or got an ass chewing.

1/2
>>
You got your ass chewed a lot more than you'd like to think about in those early days.

Merlin's faint snoring carries across the room- she, at least, has avoided the worst of it, you think. Kid has a right to that, at least. Hell, that's the other thing. She's just as much your little sister as Jessica is, really. Maybe more so, if not by blood then by shared experience. Maybe if it was just you in that aircraft, you wouldn't have a problem diving headlong into a suicidal fight, but with her in the back? It makes a guy think twice.

You shake your head with a half smirk, taking a drink of water. Shall defend was right. The problem is, you're stretched thin covering them sometimes, and god knows that their own attitudes towards you don't help. You may not be a witch, but so far you've proven to be almost fully capable of standing in for one- and you've tangled, twice, with a witch one on one and damn near won both times.

Downstairs, the TVs on, someone else can't sleep, maybe you could go talk to them? 'Course, you could always go for a run- it's early, sure, but this is a military base, it's not like you'll be the only one up. Maybe jog down to the burger king here on post, it's a 24 hour joint, and god knows piping hot bad coffee could help clear your head a bit quicker.

[x] Go downstairs. Could use someone to talk to.

Quietly, you pull on a shirt and a pair of shorts. While you're not too worried about waking Merlin up- she's a pretty heavy sleeper- these days, you're never sure. Kid's got some kind of sixth sense where you're concerned, and you'd rather not tempt it.

Fortunately, this time, you're lucky. She stirs in her bed briefly, then her snoring picks up again. Kid still sleeps with your jacket draped over her like a blanket- which, when she manages to kick her sheets off, is kinda funny, since it covers her from neck to knee, just about. You make sure the door doesn't click when you close it, still paranoid about waking her up.

Downstairs, Slider lays sprawled out on one of the couches, an episode of tales from the crypt just starting up on the TV. She stretches around to look at the stairs when she hears you- how she manages to, you have no idea, but you don't complain.

“You're up late.” She remarks, sounding slightly bored as she turns her attention back to the TV. “Couldn't sleep?”

“Nah.” You say, shaking your head.

“Mmm.” she responds. “Something wrong?”

“Nightmares,” You say with a sigh. “Been getting worse, too. But keep it to yourself, will ya?”

She looks over at you, mild surprise registering on her face. “You're kidding, right?”

You shake your head. “Why would I be?”

“I- We just thought that you hadn't seemed that bad off after Tanana, so....”

You smile, weakly. “Maybe it's just catching up to me. Maybe two near misses with disaster the last two times I've flown-”

She snorts. “Like every other time you've flown, you mean?”

“Not quite what I-” She cuts you off.

“Not what you meant, sure. But look at what you're saying, then look at almost every time we've gone into combat. You routinely tangle with four of five jets against your one, you go toe to toe with witches, you do everything the book of dogfighting says not to do. You scare the hell out of Tabby, mostly 'cos she's got daddy issues and sees a lot of him in you.” She pauses. “Don't tell her I said that.”

“Wait,” you say. “Hold the phone. Daddy issues? Something you're not telling me?”

Slider sighs. “Look, it's kind of one of those deep dark secrets. Anyone finds out I told you, your ass is mine, you got that?”

You nod.

“Ok, look. Her dad was... well, according to the official record, a lot like you. Flew with task force one-oh-eight off the Oriskany. Ask Nixon about that one. Phantoms, back then. Maybe a couple of crusaders- witch and mixed units hadn't phased them out, yet.” She says, her attention on you.

“ Long story short, they had a blown mission over Cambodia. Lost a witch and two jets- with another witch wounded and her dad's bird shot all to hell. His WSO couldn't get out, I guess- knocked out, maybe, and they didn't fancy their chances in the jungle anyway. He was hurt too, but not real bad, I guess.” She continues, but you think you see where it's going.

“They got bounced by some Migs on the way home. Their last crusader, Lieutenant Santos, his weapons all jammed.” She pauses. “Ice's dad's bird still had a pair of sidewinders and his gun, but his phantom was pretty much on prayers, at that point. He took it in to the fight anyway. Bought the lieutenant time to get away, but took a dud twenty three mil round into his chest.” She shakes her head. “Crash-landed on the carrier, died as soon as his ground crew went for the rescue handles.”

“Jesus. I don't remember seeing him on the wall at Annapolis.” You note.

“You wouldn't. The entire op- even the following CSAR job by force recon and the PJ teams was black enough that most people don't know about it, and can't find out even when they try.” She says. “We know only because the witches recorded it in their unit history, and most academies keep pretty strong ties to their units.”

“So he got shorted a medal because it was black?” You question, attention totally off the TV.

“He go- oh, hi kiddo” Slider says, looking over your shoulder.

It's all the warning you get before Merlin flops out beside you, laying her head in your lap and pulling her blanket- and your jacket- up over her shoulders. “Couldn't sleep.” She mumbles, before going right back to sleep.

Slider chuckles, looking at Merlin. “For what it's worth, his WSO didn't fly again after that, but at least he lived. It's taught as an example of why things like this-” She indicates the house, and by extension the squadron- “Are so rare. Witches used to fly with squadrons of guys all the time. But then the war happened, and...”

“And a witch would go up with twelve big brothers, and come home alone.” You finish. Slider nods.

“But that's not what we were talking about. Nightmares, huh? Of what?” She asks.

Personaly why I can't get on board on Ice's train is that I can't get past her being our CO. In SWQ I was firmly on the Trude train because of that very reason. If for some reason support for Katya collapses or she is out of the running it'll be Slider or Bust.

I can't exactly see it, too much actually filling her in on US life and not progress of note in romance or character development... and from the character who gets a lion's share of the page time.

>>25385144
well until both camps unite under one, I don't think I see the trends changing, though how to go about choosing which one eludes me.

Truth be told I'm currently neutral waiting for something to rise up that I'm interested in. Not that I dislike Katya, I just wish there'd be more to actually like than being a 'easy' Sanyaclone (does this mean these same people would lewd Sanya?)

>>25385185
I don't think that'll happen short of a equal group rising up. I was leaning towards trude because she was a nice girl and not a goddamn tsundere (even though I know how such things end in the tsundere's favor 99% of the time)

I doubt that as Merlin's pretty popular and I've heard of things getting canceled just because they SEEMINGLY killed off a popular character, even if it's in a Genre known for fake deaths or such.

>>25385425
>choosing between Merlin and Katya

That would begin the song that ends this quest as all hell would break loose and it'll break loose various other hells in the aftermath as one side will not forgive the other.

And then Ghost would live on as a broken inert lump of man.
>>
>>25385248
Considering that Trude punched Young twice, and knocked him out the second time, I would not say that she really fit the ''Nice girl'' archetype, which quite frankly is just as bad as the ''tsundere'' archetype.

If you want to like a character, judge them by their interactions, their past, why they are who they are and all the importance stuff. Look past and beyond the first impression so to speak.

Which is why, incidentally, I was rooting for Minna, because I could see and understand how that relationship came about, changed and all that jazz.

With Trude, it just didn't feel as much.

Naw, Shirely was too much of a bro, but yes she was hot.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that most of Anon was violentely opposed to Minna because she was a tsundere, but that things kind of changed as they tried to get along with her for Young's, the war's and the unit's sake. And things started to change little by little as they interacted and, well the rest is history.

So maybe that's why it felt so natural to me. It reminded me of Kurisu and Okabe actually.
>>
>>25385664
>Bro

That sort of comes off as unbelievable mainly it's something that people try to use against Slider and Maverick (among other characters in quest history for sure) for no real reason beyond removing obstacles from their (often) more feminine waifu's path.

I dare say Minna on her end ends up sort of broish with her trolling stunts.

From what I remember the moment her tsundere side showed, it was clear that she'd be a major force... and she was with only Trude being able to oppose her.
>>
>>25385721
Shirley was also our Bro's bro. There's some places that are risky places to go.
>>25385664
I like the way you worded that
>>
>>25385664

It did.

The progression from man-hating bitch was fun to watch.
>>
>>25385721
Well, it's really just a feeling you know? It's like how the real choice was only between Trude and Minna. There really wasn't much between Shirley and Young for there to be something. Yes, part of that was because of lack of interaction, but another part was likely that those two just got along too well. YMMV though.

Naw, Minna's trolling is pretty clearly sexual in nature directed at making Young her bitch. Though to Broish part may just come from that fact that they got along suprisingly well when he's not being retarded and she's not being bitchy. He's still going to under as the submissive one though. Poor Young.

I thought it was less the Tsundere side, and more the realisation that she had very good reasons to act in the way that she acted and that we might have been too harsh and too assholish. That's when she became a major force

[x] Point at Merlin. “Dunno what you're talking about, Slider.”

You indicate Merlin with your head. “I dunno what you're talking about, Slider.”

She gets it, you think. “Oh, uh. Yeah. Must have misheard the TV, thought it was you.”

You two sit and watch the show- something about a guy getting the 'gland' from a cat that gives it nine lives. The usual horror/comedy crap the show's so good at, but it gets a few chuckles out of the both of you.

“So, you're our exec. What's on tap this week?” You ask, after a good twenty minutes of just watching the TV. It's a marathon- reruns from last summer, the new season won't start for a couple of months, yet.

Slider shrugs. “We’re all still getting used to the new strikers. Patty's up, out getting some coke for Goose- she's been really sick all week.” She shakes her head. “You pilots think you have it bad, getting used to a new aircraft. This is worse.”

I have a story that might not be very Strikers 89 related, but I just have to tell it to you guys. This was related to me by a WW2 glider vet who volunteers with me at an air museum. His father was a fighter pilot in WW1.

>dad is in flight training
>only one instructor
>loves to pull pranks
>training aircraft has an easily removable control sticks (pull one pin and it it comes right off) and dual cockpits
>his favorite prank was to pull off his control stick, tap the trainee on the shoulder, then throw it overboard while the trainee watched
>"Both of our lives are in your hands now"
>does this to every trainee, it's well known among the base staff
>dad figures this out
>goes to the mechanic
>"Can I have a control stick?"
>mechanic asks why
>"I can't tell you"
>mechanic says he can't give dad a control stick unless he knows what it's for
>dad says why
>"I absolutely cannot authorize that. Now, I'm going on a 20 minute break, so don't touch the control sticks in that box over there, OK?"
>dad gets hint, takes control stick
>hides it in his cockpit
>goes on training flight with instructor
>instructor taps him on the shoulder
>looks back
>instructor throws his control stick overboard
>dad: "Oh, OK"
>takes spare control stick, throws it overboard
>instructor's face when

>Later, instructor goes to base CO
>says he wants dad court martialed
>CO: "You'll be the laughingstock of the army if I do"
>dad is never punished

“I think I remember talking about Rosalie about this, kinda.” You say. “Something about how each different set of strikers puts different demands on a witch?”

Slider nods. “Ask Ice for the specifics. Long story short, though, we all react to it differently too. Goose gets violently sick.”

You look down at Merlin and try to picture, with startling success, the image of her spewing the contents of her stomach into a bucket every time you had a new airframe.

The look on your face must have given you away. Slider chuckles. “Better than some, worse than others. Ice transitions pretty well, and with me, it's hit or miss. Either I'll get the worst combination of bad hangover and cramps ever, or nothing will happen.”

“Sounds like fun.” you note, drily.

“Could be worse.” She says, with a shrug. “And there's some old timer's tricks, but unless you happen to have a line on some really old whiskey, we're out of luck. Hopefully it doesn't last long, but you never know.”

[x] “let me make a few phone calls, I bet I can get the whiskey.”

You smile, and Slider frowns briefly. “What's funny?” She asks.

“Just so happens I might know a guy...” You start, then look down at Merlin, who's managed to get herself wedged right up against your abdomen without you noticing.

Slider chuckles at the look on your face. “I'll take her, if you're going to go call.” She says.

“Deal.” You nod, helping slider lift Merlin. A frown crosses your RIO's face briefly, but she doesn't wake up, and before you're even out of the room, she's asleep again, curled up against Slider.

The phone rings twice before it picks up, and an older man's voice cuts across the line. “Hello?” He says, his southern gentleman's voice modulated a bit by his annoyance. “This is the Lee residence, Edward speaking.”

You grin again. “Colonel? It's me, Frank, Frank Bishop.”

His voice brightens, somewhat. “Frank! Been a while since I've heard from you young sir, how have you been?”

The guy was raised mostly out east- Virginia, you think. According to him, he's descended from Robert E. Lee, though that's hard to prove. He's also a gentlemanly drinker, preferring scotch whiskey above all else.

“Well, Colonel, I'm good, but I need to call in that favor.” You say, wincing. You hate to do it, you know he'll miss the scotch for the time you have it, but it's the best stuff you- or your dad- has ever run across.

“Of course, of course. What can I do for you?” He asks.

“I need that whiskey of yours. The stuff in that green bottle.” You say. “It's for one of my squadronmates, she's pretty sick. They said this'd help.”

“Hmm. Old witch remedy, I'm sure?” He says, his voice light with mirth.

“Yessir.” You respond. “We’re transitioning into new equipment, and she's not taking it very well.”

“Well, sir, you've convinced me. If you want to drive right down, I'll get it out of the cabinet for you.” He says- though you get the feeling he didn't really need any convincing. He hangs up before you can thank him- though that's his way.

[x] “Hey Slider, help me get Merlin in her bed, then we can go get that scotch.”

You walk back into the room, smiling. “Hey, Slider. Help me get Merlin back up in her bed, and we can go get that whiskey.”

She looks at you, guardedly. “Where in the hell did you find whiskey at this hour that wasn't brewed in a bathtub?”

You give her your best shit-eating grin. “I am a man of constant amazement and ability,” you say, dramatically. “Or something like that. In this case, it was just a family friend.”

“You seem to have a lot of those.” She says, indicating you should pick Merlin up and carry her upstairs.

Merlin, thankfully, doesn't weigh much, and you're able to carry her up without waking her up. You take a second to throw on a pair of jeans and grab a jacket- not your jacket, but one you keep extra, just in case. You've learned that's kind of important, honestly. You apparently have joint custody of your jacket with Merlin. And right now, she's not giving it back.

You scrawl out a quick note, leaving it on top of Merlin's glasses- short trip inland, maybe an hour or two, tops. Slider came with.- and again, quietly head out, careful not to put your boots on till you're downstairs.

Slider took the time to put on something she could at least be seen in- her witches' flight top and a pair of cutoff jeans. She shrugs when you look at her with a smirk. “Shields, asshat. I'm not as worried about road rash as you are.”

You shrug, careful to walk the harley out a bit before firing it up- while you're sure it'll wake someone up, no need to get every light in the neighborhood on. Still, a few do pop on as you head down the road, exiting the base gate and turning onto the highway.

Is Fronk a war monger?

I have seen no ic reasoning to support him running off to another war when this one is done.

The colonel doesn't live far- about 45 minutes, actually, though most of that's highway. You turn off onto his dirt driveway- almost a mile and a half long- carefully, noting that, as always, the junction between the driveway and the road is full of loose sand.

He greets you at the door, his treasured whiskey in his hand. He smiles when he sees you and Slider dismount from the bike, “Good evening, Mr. Bishop,” He says as you walk up, shuffling the bottle to his left hand to return your handshake. “Pleasure as always to see you. You're well, I trust?”

“Yes sir, very.” You say. “And it's good to see you too.”

He smiles, turning slightly to regard Slider. She actually blushes a bit when he kisses the back of her hand. “And who's this enchanting young lady?”

“Lieutenant commander Rachel Kerner.” You say, with a smile. “Our squadron's executive officer. Slider, this is Colonel Edward Lee, CAF.”

“CAF?” Slider asks, momentarily confused.

He nods. “Confederate air force. I also have the pleasure of commanding the 26th North Carolina reenactors.”

You smile when she turns back to you. “If we get the chance, and the colonel's ok with it, we should come back and see his old warbird collection. He's got quite the flight line.”

“I'm always looking for more, too, so if you ever happen across a boneyard, I'd be much obliged if you'd tell me.” He says. “Care to have a cup of coffee with me? I was about to go help Billy put a new merlin in that defiant we have.”

You shake your head sadly. “We'd like to, sir, but we really need to get back. We have our own Merlin to take care of.”

“And a sick witch.” Slider adds. “Not taking her striker transition well at all.” She tacks on, for the colonel's benefit.

“That reminds me,” He says. “I have some old strikers back there. Stuff from the war. If you know anyone who'd like to fly them for us...”

Slider nods. “I can think of at least a dozen girls who'd love to, me included. I'll have them contact you, if that's ok?”

He nods with a smile. “Much obliged. I suppose I should get going, though- we're supposed to fly out to Ohio for an airshow next month, and I'd love to have this plane with us.”

You snap your fingers. “That reminds me, colonel. We found a boneyard up in the Aleutians. That was pretty good sized. You'll have your work cut out for you, some of those old hulks were in rough shape, but...”

“Adak?” He says, shaking his head. “The great graveyard of the north. I've never been up there, but I hear the name is misleading.”

You shake your head. “We were based there for a bit. There's plenty of birds there, but they'd need a major rebuild.”

He scratches his chin. “Hmm. Well, I'll have to send someone up after the war, then. Thank you for the tip, Mr. Bishop.”

“Anytime, colonel.” You respond as he closes the door to the house and steps off the porch with you. “If we have time, we'll stop back by.”

He nods, and shakes your hand again as you get on the harley, Slider slipping on behind you. “I'd enjoy the company! And feel free to bring your squadron, you know I enjoy having our fighting men and women over!”

You nod with a smile as he heads back to the 'barns'- a series of prefabricated aircraft hangars near his private runway. The lights spilling onto the pavement from one of them speak of a late night for his crew.

Slider takes the wrapped bottle of whiskey and deposits it in a saddle bag, frowning when she notices Gunny bear already occupying the space. “How'd you get in there, gunny?” she mutters, just as you start up the engine.

Personally, you just think he wanted the fresh air.

The ride back is just as quiet, and Slider's less amazed by the sights, though you're pretty sure she's enjoying the ride anyway. You pull up to the building and kill the engine, pulling the whiskey free from the saddle bag while Slider pulls gunny bear up and stuffs him in the front of her shirt, his head just peeking out below her chin.

Smug little stuffed bastard.

You forget his beady, glossy, gloating eyes as you walk into the building and hear Maverick comforting Goose, who's moved down to the couch.

Mav's eyes go wide when she sees the bottle. “Where- at this hour?” She asks when you hand it to her.

“Remember the colonel?” You say, sitting down across from Goose while Slider tucks Gunny bear down next to her. Kid looks paler than usual and very, very sick.

Maverick nods, pulling the stopper out of the bottle and taking a tentative whiff, then regarding the bottle again with surprise.

“That's from his private stock. Best stuff to be had this side of the Mississippi river.” You say, nodding to Goose when she turns to look at you. Your heart nearly snaps in half when you see the tears in the corners of her eyes. Kid must be hurting a lot worse than they're letting you know.

2/3
>>
Slider hands Mav a tumbler, and mav pours two fingers of the whiskey in before handing you the bottle back to you. The muted pop of her familiar emerging indicates her use of magic- though, as good as it is, the whiskey never had that faint glow.

“Here, drink this. It'll make you feel better.” Mav says, gently handing the glass to Goose. For her part, she takes a sip and frowns, turning her head away from the glass. “It'll help Goose. I promise.” She says.

Goose takes a second, then drinks the rest of it- she doesn't toss it back, and tries to drink it like a glass of anything else, which makes you cringe, but she finishes it, at least. She falls asleep seconds later, her breathing deep and even.

Mav smiles. “Thanks, Slider, Frank. She's been miserable. I appreciate that.”

You nod. “No problem, Mav.” You indicate Goose. “She going to be ok?”

Maverick looks, briefly, at her sleeping wingmate, then nods. “She's just taking the transition really badly. Y'all did us a big favor in going to get that whiskey, we won't forget it.”

You shrug. “I'm sure she'd have done the same for me.”

You only hope the tales from the crypt marathon won't give the kid fucked up dreams. God knows there's enough of those in the house right now.

The sting of the antiseptic on his arm woke the Technical Sergeant from his trance. Hissing, the man glared half-heartedly at the medic sitting next to him.

"Jeez, Doc, think you could ladle a little more acid on my bug bite?"

"Hush, Bloodhound. I swear, for a man who makes a habit of charging Red positions, you sure are a baby about proper medical procedure."

Bloodhound grumped. "You'd think they'd find a way to make that shit not hurt as much."

"Cry some more, see if I care."

"Shouldn't you be taking care of them before that scratch?" He jerked his head back at the three prostrate figures under shock blankets in the back of the Blackhawk. "Figured a couple of downed airmen and a freakin' witch would warrant more than a grunt like me."

"You did your job, Sergeant, now let me do mine. The Lieutenants and the Captain are in stable condition, and I've done the best I can for them until we land. Hold still."

Bloodhound grumbled more. He was sure his twin never had to put up with this kind of crap. Then again, said twin definitely had the cushier job. Pansy.
>>
>>25390349

Screentime =/= time spent together but point taken, we need to spend time with the two.
>>
>>25390384
It had been an open and shut extraction, really. A ground attack witch had taken a golden BB while strafing a troop convoy and gone down in some dense woods on the Polish border. The flight lead of the Strike Eagle package sortieing alongside the witch had stuck around to provide cover and a location for the downed sparkly, and had caught a missile volley off a Tunguska- Grison, whatever- for his efforts.

Bloodhound thought the whole thing was textbook stupid on the part of the Captain, but pilots is as pilots does, he reckoned. Too attached to the ideal of being the knight in shining armor zooming in to rescue the damsel in distress. Of course, when said damsel had magical jet engines on her legs...

Bloodhound's squad had been sent in to recover the three downed NATO aviators. The Sergeant had always hated helicopter insertions, always preferring something that was a bit harder to hit with an RPG for getting him on scene. That said, the tech boys had obviously been hard at work on outfitting birds to get them in and out without attracting undue attention. They weren't silent by any definition of the word, but the MH-60L-S had proved itself time and again.

Tonight had been no different. No, the helicopter hadn't gotten them shot at. That had been the damn witch's screaming. Bloodhound surfaced from his reflection on the mission and glanced back at the smallest figure behind him, heart softening slightly. That wasn't exactly fair. When she came down, her left striker had failed to separate properly and gotten caught in a pine tree. The Sarge knew from experience how bad a broken leg hurt, and compounded with the adrenalin from the crash finally wearing off and any number of lacerations, he was surprised she had kept quiet as long as she had- or that she was even conscious when they found her, which was more than he could say for the F-15 drivers.
>>
>>25390451
Still, she did finally scream, and that had the fucking Cossacks on them faster than he could blink. Bastards must've been nearby, hunting for potential POWs. Like most firefights, he couldn't remember much beyond what he sighted down his M4, and even that was mostly a blur. Hell, he hadn't even realized he'd taken a hit until they were back on board the 'Hawk and watching the Strike Eagle and strikers go up like Roman candles.

Doc Roebuck had been less than pleased with Bloodhound at that point. "Just like your damn brother," he had said, which had only earned a glare from the Sarge. He didn't mind being compared to his brother, not at all. It was any insult to his twin, implied or otherwise, imagined or otherwise, that set him off. Maybe it was just being five minutes older than his flyboy brother that made him so protective. He didn't know. Still, the Doc had made of point of probing Bloodhound about the last time he'd even written to his brother, much less his parents. He let his family occupy his thoughts for the remainder of the flight back to the forward base, then on to Ramstein.

After a routine debrief for the routine mission and visits with Roebuck to get his wound checked over- just a graze- and at the postmaster's office- checking on when the next mail shipment was going out- Bloodhound found his way back to his bunk. Rolling his eyes, he figured that maybe Roebuck had a point. His twin had always been the easiest for the Sergeant to talk to, so he decided to start with his letter.

Pouring himself a cup of coffee, Technical Sergeant Rex Bishop sat down at his desk and started writing, mumbling the letter to himself as he wrote. "Dear Frank... aw, hell, he'd never go for the 'dear'..."

Aaaaand that's all she wrote for tonight! I'll try an' have somethin' else together for next week. Maybe a little longer. Just wanted to get my feet wet this time. Thanks for the background info and the setting, Ghost! ...and the main character here, I suppose, too.
