It has been 2 years after the Empire’s defeat at Endor and the death of the Emperor. The Rebel Alliance, emboldened by this miraculous victory, has slowly spread its influence to other systems around the outer and inner rims. Afraid of losing more systems to the Alliance, the Grand Admirals have assumed temporary control of the Imperial army, placing blockades over vital manufacturing worlds and drafting more soldiers than ever before.

You are one such draftee; picked up by a recruitment officer on the streets of Courscant after you tried to pickpocket some creds off of him, you were given a choice of joining the army or being shot right there, “ either way you're dead” you remember him telling you. After months of grueling training and a couple of close calls you proved you were worthy of becoming a Stormtrooper and received your armor and standard issue blaster. Now you're being sent with a detachment to the planet Reecee; Imperial intelligence has reported the suspicion of insurgency on the planet and you've been sent to remind the populace who still owns them.

The Star Destroyer you're on arrives to Reecee after 3 days of absolute boredom, you're anxious to get planet side and stretch your legs. Your detachment crowds onto a shuttle bound for Relaxis; a city just outside of the capital that, according to the local authorities, has been a hotbed of Rebel sympathizers. You land on what appears to be a major landing bay and your detachment is quickly split up into three teams: Prime, Beta, and Alpha. You are placed on Beta team with 5 other recruits and a young female officer. Your first assignment is to provide security to the officer while she meets with an informant at a local cantina. You weave through the busy landing bay, enjoying the nervous looks and scared faces of the people you pass by. Suddenly an Ithorian stumbles into you, knocking you down. Finally, you think, a chance to blow off some steam.
A. Threaten the Ithorian
B. Beat him
C. Shoot him
D. Let him go with a warning

D. Let him go. One of the most important parts of fighting against insurgency and guerilla type warfare is not having the most firepower, but having the populace on your side. Without the support of the populace, an insurgency cannot be sustained.

Therefore, we need to first befriend the locals instead of pissing them off more.

You pick yourself up and look down at the Ithorian who is still trying to get up. He must be older, you think to yourself. Perfect.

A small circle has formed around the incident, your officer has placed the rest of the recruits around to make a barrier between you and the crowd. She is watching you intently; testing you.

" I think you owe me an apology" you say in a foreboding tone as you stand above the Ithorian. The alien bleats out in his native tongue, you don't understand the jumbled honking noises. You flick the safety off of your blaster; the high pitched humming sound causing some people in the crowd to gasp and whisper nervously

" I'm going to count to three" you say, placing your blaster right between the alien's eyes.

"one"

The Ithorian is on his knees bleating and honking incessantly; trying to form some kind of apology you can understand.

"two"

the Ithorian's eyes are darting around like crazy; the noises he's making are starting to sound more human, but still incomprehensible.

" thre-"

" TK-392!" Your commanding officer stops you before you can proceed. " That's enough, TK-'s 390 and 391, take this scum to the penitentiary." As the other troopers lead the alien away she looks at you and nods " Good job" she says " you sent these people a message without killing anyone outright, that kind of fear stays with people."

No man, we just salute. Do that, and it gives her good rep with the natives.

While it's completely fine if the natives hate our guts, showing that the officer is "harsh but otherwise reasonable" is good.
>>
Before we continue I'd like to remind everyone that it's a much better option to hide arguments rather than contribute to them.

After your little show of force the rest of your team arrives at the cantina. It's a run down place; the type where you know that you won't be the only one packing a blaster. As you walk past the broken down bar stools and drunkards you find a private booth towards the back with a tall Bothan sitting in the shadows. " Stay here and don't let anyone get near us." Your officer says before pressing a button and a thin plasti-steel privacy curtain closes around the booth.

You and the other recruit stand watch for a few minutes, watching the bar patrons talk amongst themselves and hollering at the holographic Twi-leks dancing on a ram-shackle stage. You scan the bar, looking for anything out of place.

As you look around the bar nothing seems out of the ordinary, but you can't shake the feeling that you're being watched. You express your concern to your partner " Well, no shit we're being watched, especially after you pulled your little stunt back there at the landing bay."

You shrug off the criticism, knowing he's just jealous. The next couple of minutes pass by uneventfully before the curtain opens and your officer walks out " We got what we came for, let's get back to the jail." As the three of you are about to exit the bar, you hear the sound of a table being overturned and glasses breaking

" YOU CHEATING SON OF A WOOKIE" you turn around and see a large Aqualorean screaming and shouting at a young man. " I SAW YOU ADD A CARD FROM YOUR SLEEVE, YOU THINK YOU CAN CHEAT ME?"

" Go take care of it, we don't need this much noise on our first day here" your officer says. You and your partner quickly walk over to the commotion. At this point the Aquelorean has lifted the man up off the ground by the cuff of his shirt; rifling through his vest trying to find where he's hiding his extra cards. He sees both of you coming " YOU STAY OUT OF THIS, BUCKETHEADS, UNLESS YOU WANT A BLASTER BOLT THROUGH YOUR GUTS!"

Both you and your partner set your blasters to stun and take aim at the enraged Aqualish. " Put the man down and place your hands behind your head" you say in an authoritative voice. The alien seems to give some thought to the options you just gave him and slowly places the man down on the ground. " Put your hands behind your head" you repeat, this time louder. The Aqualish gives you a look that would make a rancor pale, and slowly places his hands behind his head. You walk slowly towards him, keeping your blaster trained on him. While he's obeying orders, you don't trust him; Aqualish have a temper that's made them famous throughout the whole galaxy, there's no way this one would give up that easily.

You get closer to the alien and tell him to turn around, " No" he says defiantly. That's all the excuse you need; you squeeze the trigger.

... and nothing happens

Your stomach drops into your feet as you hear the pathetic "click" of a stun round misfire. The Aqualish roars and punches you in the chest; his inhuman strength propelling you a good 4 feet. You crash into the other recruit, knocking him out cold and sending you both to the ground. You try to get up, stunned and out of breath. The Aqualish picks you up and clamps his hands around your neck, making it impossible to breathe. Your world starts spinning, blackness is creeping into your periphery....

BLAM BLAM

You feel two streaks of heat pass through the space between your legs, dangerously close to your nether regions. The Aqualish roars in pain and lets go of your neck, clutching the two perfect circles burned into his abdomen. Before you can understand what's going on you hear two more loud blasts and see two red streaks pass through the Aqualish's head, dropping him instantly.

Your commanding officer runs over to you " You okay" she asks? you nod weakly, still trying to catch your breath and she helps you up. " You like being the center of attention, don't you?" she says sarcastically, " About as much as you like taking your time" you retort. The Aqualish recieved two blaster bolts to the head, making him very much dead. You have the local authorities deal with the clean up.

You make your way back to the jail and throw your captive inside a holding cell, he'll be released tomorrow after the proper paperwork has been filed and he's payed a fine. You find the resting quarters and take off your helmet; it's a great feeling. " TK-392!" you immediately spring to attention, doing your best to ignore the searing pain from the bruise on your chest. Your commanding officer steps through the door " you went on an active patrol without checking your weapon for faults. I don't want to sign through form after form detailing how you got yourself killed over something so stupid."

" Yes Ma'am"

The look on her face softens a fraction of an inch " Head down to the armory tomorrow and pick out another weapon, preferably one that works. If they don't like it, tell them they can take it up with me."

" Yes, Ma'am."

" That will be all TK-392, At ease". After she's left you close the door and remove the rest of your armor. You lie down on your cot and slowly drift off into a much needed sleep.
