You are Captain Numeon Smith of the Knights Inductor, and commanding officer of the Aprior sector Joint Task Force, currently deployed to the icy world of Volkgarod to battle the savage orks who have taken root on its surface.

Currently fighting in the agricultural cities at the planets equator, you have just completed a series of ambush raids to destroy the majority of the orkish force within the city, and were preparing to redeploy to the industrial centers to aid sister Cypress and her attack group in retaking them.

Your task force stands as follows.

SpecOps: ASIS task force, Eldar Ranger squad.

Air Support: Valkyrie Avenger dropships, Shrike air-space fighters.

Heavy Armor: Fenris main battle tanks, precision rocket artillery.

Infantry Support: Sisters of Battle, Battlesuit Team.

Special Units: Confessor, Tau Commander.

cool. So the agricultural centers are more or less secure?
>>
>>25361628
Can we redeploy via droppods and dropships?

Also, will we be able to get the rail lines from the Agricultural Sector to the Industrial Sector repaired now?

Also, can we get a thermal scan of the Industrial Sector to get an idea of how the Orks are spread out?
>>
>>25361628

So how are we redeploying? By taking the dropship? Or should we go all the way up and perform some multiple simultaneous deep strikes?

I suppose it's too far away to be riding a tank into battle.

Let's just load up the more compact death packages we have, that is to say Marines, Sisters and Battlesuits.
>>
>>25361642
To the best of your knowledge the agri centers are 'secure' to the point where the locals can deal with them.

>>25361654
Yes, but you will have to wait for them to move to you, and you must specify if you want to use the dropships of the combat gunships.

Also, you must decide which forces, if any, you wish to leave behind to secure the city from further attack.
>>
>>25361676
I'm sorry I had to.

>>25361686
Leave behind 1 squad of Knights and the Fenris battletanks.

We'll take the Rangers, other squad of Knights, Sisters, and Battlesuits. We'll use the dropships, so that the gunships can continue their air support duties.
>>
>>25361714
This will leave you with 2 squads of knights, 2 squads of sisters and the battlesuit team.
>>
>>25361766
Well, Cypress is already at the Industrial Sector with 1 Squad of Knights, 2 squads of Sisters, the ASIS Team, and the rocket artillery, right?
>>
>>25361819
True, as well as various guardsmen forces.
>>
>>25361834
Alright then.
Let's go. We'll link up with Cypress, and then determine what we'll do from there.
>>
>>25361866
>>25361834

Try to fit the infiltrators in if we can
>>
Reveal to the Sisters of Reason that they aren't real Battle Sisters. Us Reasonable Marines simply killed all of the real Battle Sisters and took their stuff to create knockoff Sororitas.

They are fully aware of this, and trying to atone for their orders ancient bloody past.

Consensus to link up with Cypress, leaving the guard behind to secure the city. Content in a moment.
>>
>>25361628

You activate your vox. "Cypress, we're done here, coming to link up with your forces now."

"Glad to here it Captain," She says in between bolter shots, "We'll try to save a few for you."

"Don't wait up on my account." You say as you close the link.

You vox air control on the 'Flame to send some gunships to extract your forces, and a few hours later you are loading your men into the various craft which will carry them north to the manufactoria where Cypress does battle.

You yourself clamber into the Thunderhawk and give one last salute to the men you are leaving behind as the ramp slams shut and you lift into the air.

Overflying the agri city for the first time, you get a good look at how severe the battle damage to the city really was, entire blocks lie as nothing more than charred rubble and many buildings are but gutted shells, a testament to the ferocity of the orks, and the stubborn courage of the Volkgarod soldiers who fought here.

In a moment the burned city is replaced with the rushing countryside which quickly turns white as you speed north.

All seems to be going well, as you keep a constant line open to Cypress and her detachment, it seems that they are rolling the enemy back, but very slowly. The orks, it seems, have dug themselves into the mines and twisting manufactoria and are proving very hard to dislodge.

Then, about 45 minutes into your flight, you receive a vox call from the commander of the JTF forces back in the agri city.

>>
>>25362248
>>25362215
We could send the Sisters and the Rangers ahead, while we turn back with the Battlesuits and the Knight squads.
>>
>>25362287

True that. And we might succeed spectacularly or lose the reinforcements along with the beleaguered base. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. The Emperor protects.
>>
>>25362178

"Captain!" Comes the voice of the guard captain you left behind to guard the city.

"Captain, we are under attack!"

"What is your situation?"

"Bad sir, the orks are mounting a major offensive, we never saw them coming! A whole horde is pounding on the city, no clue where they came from!"

The captain starts talking to someone else, but you can still hear what he says, "On the, did you say the eastern flank? Frak, how did they get inside the perimeter! Tell Hammer to deal with it, I can't take my men off the line."

He returns to you. "We are under heavy assault sir, I request immediate reinforcement!"

You call up the thermal scan on the dataslate. Sure enough, an ork horde as big as the one you fought before is storming the city. Unlike the disordered force you fought before, this group seems more coordinated, and is moving towards the center of the city with single minded determination. They are being held with the pounding of tanks and dug in infantry, but it seems like a matter of time before the city is overrun.

>>
>>25362405

Well, sounds like Cypress will have to hold out a while longer. How many birds are we travelling in and what does each contain?
>>
>>25362405
That big, eh?

Tell the Sisters and the Rangers to continue on to aid Cypress. Vox her of the change in plans.

Have the dropships with the Knight squads and Battlesuits turn back and make best speed for the beleaguered position.

Can the Flame provide an orbital strike on the rear positions of the Orks, or are they too close to the human positions?
>>
>>25362448
You are currently traveling with a Thunderhawk with one Knight squad, two more in Valkyries, the sister squads in Avengers, and the battlesuit team in a Valkyrie.

>>25362452
Orkish forces are completely within the city, and the 'Flame is aiding Cypress in her fight half the world away. They could reposition but it would take time and their support would be limited to missile attacks, rather than the main guns.
>>
>>25362405
Can the Midnight Flame's sensors pick up a large heat signature that would indicate a warboss?
>>
>>25362514
Okay, we can't move the Midnight Flame, then. And the Shrikes are helping Cypress as well, correct?

Voting to have the Knights and the Battlesuits turn back to the Agri-Center, and have the Sisters continue on to aid Cypress.
>>
>>25362519
You do not have that kind of precision with your instruments, he would just blend into the other orks around him.
>>
>>25362557
Another task for a Tech Magos if we had one.

Wait, should we have the Rangers stick with us?
They could scout for the Ork that's rallying this horde so that we could take it out.
>>
>>25362514

Leafe Flame as it is. Better to waste her guns on transit time. Seconding >>25362452 in letting sisters continue their trip to aid Cypress, although Eldar might be more of use to us in breaking the offensive...

Shrikes are around Capital, I take it?

And finally, should we drop in to defensive positions, or behind the enemy advance to hit their rear?
>>
>>25362582
No battle magos, though that seems a popular choice for your next special unit.
>>
>>25362586
A few Shrikes are with you and Cypress, most are around the capitol.
>>
>>25362586
>>25362582
Alright, so we're having the Knights, Rangers, and Battlesuits turn around, while the Sisters continue on to reinforce Cypress.

Battlesuits should probably head right for the Guard position to reinforce them, then we drop the Rangers off to find the Warboss.
Once found, the Knights will go in and kill it.
>>
>>25362605
Magos and Silencers.
Magos because of all the modern weapons and equipment we could field, and Silencers because it lets us laugh as psykers and daemons run from the Nulls.

sounds good. Where's ASIS? Are they in separate craft?
>>
>>25362687
ASIS is with Cypress.
>>

How about the Knights knock out Ork ammo dumps, Mek Boyz and their vehicles while the Rangers look for the Warboss. It'll probably take a bit to find the Ork directing this horde, so we should have the Knights cut down Ork reinforcements.

>>25362405

"Hold on captain, we are coming back around."

You change channels, "Sisters, continue on to help your leader, I shall lead the others back to battle the orks here."

"Yes Captain."

The flight back takes no longer than the flight out, but it certainly seems longer as you listen to the constant reports from the agri city, telling of the crushing advance of the orkish horde running rampant through the city, running roughshod over the hasty defenses.

It seems that the tanks are giving them something to think about, and the Aprior guard are as skillful as they always are, but the sheer weight of numbers presses them back towards the inner sanctum.

You see that the majority of the orkish forces are on or near the front lines, leaving only a few to defend the rear positions, one of which vaporizes under a hellstrike from a nearby Valkyrie.

How do you deploy your forces?
>>
>>25362821
So we swoop in, crush a column of Orks, then get out before they can organize a counterattack. Then we do it again, somewhere else, using the Thunderhawk and Valkyries to move from one spot to another quickly and with massive force.
We reduce the number of Orks assaulting the Guard position and we force the Warboss to start looking for us as we assault the Ork positions.
>>
>>25362878

Get behind their advance, but also a bit towards the flank so that they can't envelop us too easily.
>>
>>25362878
Go with >>25362629 and >>25362889

The Battlesuits will continue on to the Guard position to reinforce them.

The Rangers will get dropped off and they are to find the Warboss.

The Knights will be dropped in the rear of the Ork position and with the Valkyries will begin fast strikes against Ork reinforcements going to the front and destroying what Mek Boyz, vehicles, and ammo dumps that the Orks have.

"Vael, take your team and support the guard in the city, everyone else drops behind their lines and attacks their flanks, keep moving and catch them between us and the guard, hammer and anvil."

Your men acknowledge your order and deploy, Vael's Valkyrie swooping off into the center of the city, your gunships circling to find a target.

You see one, a column of several hundred orks rushing up a street, and order your forces to drop and engage, putting your troops in the buildings to either side of the street.

The descending gunships rake the ork mob with canon and las fire, killing many, but the rest go to ground to avoid the scything gunships.

Your boots crunch on the rooftop overlooking the street, which still contains a number of orks, while you also hear more howling downstairs.

You have around you a single squad of knights, the other two squads putting down on other buildings to maximize the killzone.

State plan and roll to engage, roll out of 100, low is good, best of three.

"Knights, cut them down in the street!" you cry as you lob a grenade into the mass below before opening up with your bolter. Around you the Knights cry "Light up the night!" as they pour the fire into the massed orks below.

The noise is deafening, the staccato boom of the bolter, continuous crack of the stormlas, even the constant scream of an Avenger ripping the orks below to shreds. Dozens fall in the first few seconds.

You hear the tromping of hobnailed boots on the stairwell, and you turn to engage, decapitating the first ork to step onto the roof.

"Clear the street brothers, leave these ones to me!" You leap down the stairwell, grabbing the next ork by the ears and throwing him into his comrades, the stairs cracking and breaking under your combined weight.

You plummet to the floor together, crushing ceramite atop a mass of writhing greenskins. You rise and jam a grenade into the pile before tackling a standing ork through the wall, the explosion painting the room with ork viscera.

You bring up your bolter and fire two shots into the next ork, and then the next, and then the next, taking them down swiftly and efficiently.

TBC
>>
>>25363381

When your bolter clicks empty you draw your pistol and maul, firing into the orks at point blank and smashing the survivors apart. When your pistol runs dry you bash an ork across the head and exchange it for your fighting knife, decapitating an ork with it as you stove in anothers skull with your maul.

A pair of orks come through the doorway and you throw your knife, the spinning blade slashing the first orks throat before burying itself in the next ones skull.

You dive and roll, retrieving your knife before killing another few orks. At some point your realize you have moved into the street, and are engaged in a whirling melee with at least a dozen orks at once, but it does not slow you down.

Your brothers lay their fire into the horde, some advancing to the street to watch your back as you move through the mass like a dancer, obliterating orks with a merest touch.

You raise your weapons together to strike down one more ork, and as it hits the pavement a sudden silence falls over the street. You stand there, crackling maul in one hand, bloodied knife in the other, standing alone amidst the pile of orkish corpses.

This is a fight which will be spoken of by the Knights and their comrades for years to come, with each retelling embellishing the tale. Without such fanciful additions, it is clear that you have felled at least a hundred of the mob, with the rest destroyed by your brothers as they attempted to flee from you.

Taking one last look at the pile of corpses, you climb back into the thunderhawk and set off to your next target.

You continue in this way for some time, battling the orks one by one, air-striking static emplacements and conducting airborne ambushes on the mobile forces.

The battle is hard fought, but the presence of Hammer and his tanks, as well as the decision to leave the guardsmen behind allowed them to hold onto the center of the city, the anvil upon which you beat the hammer of the Knights to break the orkish army.

In seven hours this force is as broken as the one which preceded it, and all seems well in hand until you receive a vox call from Crais.

"Mon'keigh, we have done as you wished and located the ork leader."

The line is silent for a moment.

"And? What is his position?" You ask.

"He is currently fleeing the city and has just entered an underground passage and has left our sight, if you hurry you could catch up to him."

You check your slate, and see that the warboss appears to be taking a metro tunnel out of the city, your map of the line shows that the tunnel goes out some miles from the city before going to the surface and stretching back to ork held territory.

Knights and battlesuits dig in, Rangers go into the tunnel and hide to give us a heads up when the war boss is about to emerge.
>>
>>25363814

"Thanks for the intel Crais, follow the warboss if you can, I will set up an ambush at the tunnel mouth."

"Very well." Crais says before cutting the channel.

You take your Knights and battlesuits to the mouth of the tunnel, the trip only taking a few minutes in your gunships.

"Mon'keigh I bring news. The warboss is not going on foot, but rather by armored train, he is departing now, swiftness would be advised."

"Very well."

You grab the package next to you and leap from the thunderhawk, falling the ten feet to the ground and taking off running.

TBC
>>
>>25363904

A few minutes later you are circling the tunnel exit in the thunderhawk, your brothers doing likewise. Suddenly, an orkish contraption emerges from the tunnel, a ramshackle train covered in slapdash armor and guns, black smoke pouring from its engine.

"Where's he going?" Vael wonders.

"Nowhere." You say, as you click the detonator in your hand.

The mines placed on the rails detonate spectacularly, sending the train flying sideways off the tracks, rolling once before settling onto the ground with a shriek of tortured metal.

A moment later the orks begin to boil out of the wreck and run in all directions. One group runs close to a mossy boulder, only to be cut down as the camo net flies back and the battlesuit stands up.

As you watch, you see an ork of great size and strength rip his way out of the train, a flashing metal claw on his arm. He smashes a smaller ork out of the way and begins to run like the rest.

"Terminate the warboss." You vox, and a moment later the fleeing ork vanishes in a cloud of dust and smoke as your main gun thunders for a brief moment.

Without their leader the orks are even more lost than they already were, and are swiftly hunted down and destroyed. This battle has concluded.

"Cypress." You vox, "What is your condition?"

For once, Cypress' vox is not muddled with the sounds of gunfire and explosions. "Condition green Captain, no pun intended. The city is secured and the orks driven back, it took some doing but we finally dug them out, though we have lost many good people today."

She is quiet for a moment, "It seems that we have won today."

"Indeed." You reply, "It seems we have, we have killed the ork leader, hopefully with him gone the enemy will be unbalanced and we can strike against them more effectively.

With that battle done, you oversee the rebuilding of the garrison in the agri city and, with one last salute from colonel Federov, turn the thunderhawk skywards and return to the capitol.

The day was a long one, even for a Knight, and you feel weary from the day of battle. Upon your return you lead your brothers in their rites before the evening meal. You raise your glasses in remembrance of the fallen and observe a moment of silence for their sacrifice, then you reflect upon the battles fought and the bravery of those who stood beside you.

That done, you retire for the night.

The next day dawns gladly without incident, and it seems that no new crisis arises before you eat breakfast. How do you proceed with your first battle free day on Volkgarod?

"How is your orbital surveillance grid progressing priest? The thermal imaging it provides is invaluable."

"We are fabricating satellites as fast as we can sir, but building them is not an easy task, and it takes time to deploy them. We have deployed enough to cover the area around the cities you recently liberated and the capitol, but it will take several weeks to get a full planetary grid up and running."

You frown, an unfortunate development. "Very well, keep at it. The data they provide is of extreme value to this campaign, liaise with Lieutenant Reed to target orbital attacks and airstrikes on any ork concentrations the satellites detect."

"It shall be done."

Well, we succeeded in our objective to liberate the farms and.... the city? in one decisive strike!

Our First priority should be checking in with our fighting forces. Keep the morale up. Get a sense of losses.
Our other First Priority should be to assess the objectives we came here for, and set up the supply lines. Fortunately, we can delegate that.

These underground orks may prove a problem later one - we should begin scouting other underground tunnels for access points, and sealing them off. Scouting elements other recon to locate the rest of the ork hoard.

Ourselves? Do a meet and greet, get a sense of where we're at. Throw our weight around as an Honored Astartes and be an inspiring presence to lesser men and women. See if there's anything useful left in the liberated parts of the cities

With your conversation with Kalec done, you decide that it is time to see the the recovery of the recaptured cities. Knowing that a war cannot be fought on stored stocks alone, it must be your first priority to restore the functioning of the centers of production if you are ever to retake Volkgarod in its entirety.

You arrange a meeting with the planetary leadership to discuss the matter, and in the meantime you walk the streets of the capitol, speaking with the citizens of Volkgarod, learning of their plight and offering what comfort you can.

Again, many of them drop to their knees in reverence as you pass, and you often must gently pull them to their feet and coax words out of them. Once they calm down, it seems that many of them have the same thing to say, that they are loyal citizens of the Imperium and serve only the Emperor and his chosen servants, and that no sacrifice is too high if it is done in his name.

Honestly, you find their unshakable conviction a little surprising, although on a world as bleak and barren as this you suppose that strong faith would give them the strength to carry on.

You check the time and see that the scheduled planning meeting is only a few hours away. Was there anything you would like to do in the meantime or proceed directly to the meeting?

You find sister Cypress a few blocks from the palace, watching over a group of workers rebuilding a collapsed shrine to the Emperor. Walking up to her you notice the fresh scratches and dents on her armor, testament to the hard fought battle. As you approach she turns to you.

"Captain, good to see you in once piece."

"And you as well sister," You reply, "I know your victory did not come easily."

"Yes," she says, looking over the destruction before her, "It was a close fought thing."

You are both silent for a few moments.

"How bad?" You ask finally.

"Bad." She says grimacing. "Not many of the miners made it out before the orks moved in, they were cornered in dormitories and work houses, they were butchered by the thousand."

She shudders. "When the battle was over a fresh batch of workers was shipped in by train and sent into the mines almost before the blood had dried, working along like nothing happened while the soldiers stood guard."

She shakes her head. "I knew I would see a lot of new things when I left Aprior, but this is beyond anything I could have imagined."

>>
>>25365909
We need to just tell her how we feel. Tell her that she's the most amazing woman we've ever met, and that we want to spend the rest of our reasonable lives with her and have reasonable children together.
>>
>>25365909
>Also, well said Anon, well said.

First time to the quest! Saw an opportunity and i took it! I hope i didn't disservice the character!
>>
>>25365987

>Not at all, welcome to the game.

Thank you! I suppose I'll stick around a bit.

....

>>25365978
is seriously a typical one of your players?
Romance No Jutsu and ancient chinese Wai Fu in a SPACE MARINE quest of all things?

"With that kind of spirit I cannot see how the orks will stand for very long." You nod to her, "I know what you did was difficult, but I would not have entrusted the operation to you if I did not have complete faith in your abilities, you performed admirably in a difficult situation."

"Thank you sir, I will not let you down." She nods and goes over to the workers, who smile and rush over to hear he word.

"Of that I have absolutely no doubt." You say before you turn and walk toward the palace.

As you walk you look about to see the workings of a city being rebuilt, playing out in repeat from your time on Tyrae. You see JTF techpriests leading red robed acolytes around to repair power junctions, crews of haggard workers clearing away debris. To one side you see a number of people toiling to clear away the damage to a small park, the central statue of some unknown general being worked over by a half dozen men and women with brushes and plaster.

You pass a citizen on the street, a man in a dirty fur cap and torn overcoat. As he passes you hear him say "Hey Cap." In a thick Vostroyan accent.

You turn, a bit surprised, to take another look at the man, to see Jager smiling at you from under his disheveled furry hat.

He falls in step beside you as you continue on.

"What are you up to now Jager?" You ask warily.

"Well," He begins, "you may recall back when you retook this city you tasked ASIS to investigate the people of this fair planet, and I am happy to tell you that my report is prepared."

He's not a usual as far as I know, but there were a few guys wanting to fast-romance Cypress. I told them that a long term romance was not out of the question, but such a thing would have to progress naturally over time, rather than all at once.

All the players here are actually pretty cool.
>>
>>25366208
>is seriously a typical one of your players?
No. It's just a troll.
>>
>>25366268
Order our forces to open fire on the troll. Kill him.
>>
>>25366268
"Go on." You say, listening to the operative carefully.

"Right, from what we have been able to observe, the people of this world are very loyal and devout, almost to a fault. As I am sure you have noticed they have a temple about every hundred feet."

An exaggeration, but not much of one you must admit.

"We have analyzed their culture, as well as we can in this limited time frame, and we have found that their devotion to the Emperor takes the form of absolute obedience to the state, and its head the Secretary General and the government he endorses. They see their leader as the living will of the Emperor on Volkgarod, and to devote your life to the SG is to devote your life to the Imperium."

Jager shrugs.

"As I am also sure you are aware, the locals don't seem to put much stock in the value of life, we are still investigating as to exactly why."

Anything further to say to Jager before you move on to the meeting?
>>
>>25366527
Nothing, just to continue their analysis.
>>
>>25366527
"Thank you Jager, keep up the good work."

"Right Cap." says a stranger in a thick accent again who promptly vanishes into a passing crowd.

You continue to the palace, entering the building once again through the lobby and walking to the study room where you held your last meeting.

Upon arriving you find General Zhukov awaiting you, as well as a few junior officers. The door is guarded by soldiers in full uniform with their stubbers slung.

"Captain." He says, drawing himself up, "I regret that the Secretary General was unable to attend the meeting, he has been detained by matters of state."

You nod, his absence is likely a sign of greater problems ahead, but at least Zhukov seems willing to work with you."

"Good general, I appreciate you meeting with me, there are many things which we must discuss. Firstly, the repairs and refitting of the liberated cities, this conflict must be fueled by both industry and agriculture in order to be won."

"Yes, I agree completely," he says, "I have already begun the redeployment of workers to the cities in question, and the stockpiles there are being moved to the capital for safe keeping."

Next topic? And did you intend to offer to upgrade his manufactoria to produce lasguns as was previously discussed?
>>
>>25366527

"That is certainly odd. Continue your observations. Hopefully their practices have not strayed much... further. But effective. I was among their people and citizens earlier, as well. Their reverence was.... palpable. Permeating the air. Being bowed to is..... an unsettling feeling. Faith is one thing. Where it is aimed, is another...."
>>
>>25366786
Consider these types of thing to be retroactively said.

Also, I hate to pry but did you check the archives? If you have any questions about the backstory or major events I would love to give you the short version.
>>
>>25366782
Yes, offer the upgrades
>>
>>25366922
Confirming to offer upgrades to weapons.
>>
>>25366953
Confirmed, but I'm leery.

I feel like the Secretary General is going to stab us in the back.
>>
>>25367030
>>25366953
>>25366922

"On that note, feel free to contact Kalec, my head techpriest, he will see to the upgrading of your weapons production facilities to produce lasguns. Had you been better armed then you would have suffered far fewer casualties before we had arrived."

The General nods thankfully, "Thank you Captain, I am sure we can make good use of your gifts."

Other things to talk about?
>>
>>25367092
We need to identify civilian survivors and other pockets of holdouts in cities that we have yet to reclaim.

"The more workers we recover, the more factories we can repair and bring online, as well as more soldiers we can draft."
Maybe if we appeal to their desire for more weapons and soldiers, we can get the locals to cooperate with our efforts to save civilian lives.
>>
>>25367185

" We must also see to the recovery of the people displaced by the conflict. The more workers we recover, the more factories we can repair and bring online, as well as more soldiers we can draft."

Zhukov nods. "I will do what I can Captain."

He stands up and walks over to the balcony, and you follow.

"Truthfully I will do all that I can to get as many people out as possible, but I do not know how much can reasonably be done."

He pauses for a moment, seemingly lost in thought.

"Though I would be loath to say this to anyone else, the Secretary General is a man of many faults. He will not be the most enthusiastic about taking soldiers away form the front lines to round of civilians, but I will do what I can to persuade him. He is a hard man, but he can be made to bend with the right pressure."

The General looks out over the battered city.

Was there anything else to discuss?
>>
>>25367301
"Perhaps if you couch the argument in terms of drafting those civilians rescued into more soldiers and workers, he will be more amenable."

Until we can get more factories online and soldiers ready, I don't think there's much beyond lightning strikes at Ork concentrations that we can do. The JTF has lost a good number of its forces, and we need to be more conservative with them.
>>
>>25367301
Do the locals have the capacity for powered flight?
Maybe we can also get them to start building bombers, so that we can have some airpower.
>>
>>25367301

"Perhaps if you couch the argument in terms of drafting those civilians rescued into more soldiers and workers, he will be more amenable."

Zhukov nods. "Yes, you have he measure of the man it would seem."

He glances back to the sentries waiting by the door.

"It seems I must leave now, it has been, interesting speaking with you Captain."

"And you general."

With that, you leave the palace and return to your HQ. In the days ahead you coordinate the war as best you can across the planet, orkish concentrations are being targeted and destroyed with orbital bombardments in most cases.

Where the orks wander too close to settlements you organize, and sometimes lead, lightning strike forces to swoop down and destroy the orks wherever they can be found.

You are largely surprised by the progress of the conflict, the fighting seeming to have died down considerably since your engagement at the agri city, with only a few roving war bands being found and destroyed.

The days stretch to weeks and more of the same continues, your daily routine falls into place, supervise the conflict read intelligence reports, dealing with the local government and, when you cannot take it anymore, heading into the field to shoot some orks.

It is about a month and a half after your arrival on Volkgarod, and it seems to you that the situation has become fairly manageable, even with your forces somewhat bloodied as they are.

You should have known it was too good to last.

-----

And I think that's it for tonight, yes I'm evil I know, but I have to hit the ground running tomorrow.

Thanks for playing everyone, I will hang out here for a little bit longer to discuss with anyone left, but that's the end of the story tonight, thread starts again tomorrow at 4:00 eastern, same time same place.
>>
>>25367698
>You should have known it was too good to last.
Aw fuck, is it the other Imperial reinforcements?

And can you answer this question >>25367625
>>
>>25367752
Yes, locals have powered flight, but high winds at high altitudes make it difficult for their tech level to make use of it on a strategic scale.

Our craft can deal with only minimal problems, and the orks scoff at such silly notions as aerodynamics.

It would be possible to upgrade their aircraft capacity, but this would not be able to be done in any reasonable space of time, especially with the refits to the small arms factories still ongoing.
>>
>>25367824
Ah, then could they make Leman Russ tanks?
>>
>>25367698
>You should have known it was too good to last.

During this time, I want to develop some new doctrines. We are reasonable marines, after all.

We seem to rely on a combined arms force, with infantry support quite a bit.

Lets see if we can't get some landspeeders - repair, buy, barter, salvage, manufacture - and bring back the Landspeeder Drop for infantry.

Basic helicopter and urban assault tactics.
What say you? I know the sisters squads might appreciate a lift here and there!
>>
>>25367945
That's what you brought the Avenger pattern Valkyries for, you just haven't seemed to use them very much yet.
>>
>>25367936
Yes, but this would take time and effort to refit their production lines. You could leave the information with them, but it is unlikely that they will be able to produce a much better pattern of armored vehicle in any short space of time.
>>
>>25367995
Ah, okay.
>>
>>25367995
I assume the Ragnarok or siegfried are also off the table. Those designs are supposed to be easy to make.
>>
>>25367973
>Avenger pattern Valkyries

Not familiar with pattern! please elaborate!
>>
>>25368159
Unique variant dreamed up by the Aprior techpriest (our homeland).

Basically a standard Valkyrie with a shortened troop bay and side by side cockpit, smaller and more maneuverable for deploying Knight or guard fireteams where speed and flexibility are more important than the number of troops being deployed.
>>
>>25368159
Modified Valkyries that fill the same tactical niche as the Stormraven, because mars doesn't like to share.
