I did a new name, and I lost count.
You are Lord William Bordain, Lord of Morderengrad and the Norther Valley. Some call you the Iron Lord, as your wealth flows from the arms and armor you sell, and your demeanor is as unflinching and cold as castle-forged steel. Those who oppose you are forged into your next weapons, or crushed and tossed to the winds.

Two years you brooded on the slaying of the Targaryen children, the deed that won you your Lordship, while your lands fell to bandits and saboteurs. Within the last two seasons, you have quelled these troubles, and made your lands safe again. You are betrothed to the Lady Alyssa Tollett, and will one day be Lord of Grey Glen in addition to your other holdings.

Having recently uncovered and defeated a plot against you by servants in a nearby House, You've turned your eye to a more prolonged campaign: your wedding to Alyssa Tollett. Having accidentally thrown the grandest wedding not directly involving a royal family in the last thirty years, you found yourself besieged with well-wishers from around the Seven Kingdoms, with the King himself at your wedding. You visited by your one-time teacher Tywin Lannister, who presented you with a terrifying mission: To make yourself the Hand of the King, whether officially or by proxy.

You have just finished speaking with your liege Lord, Jon Arryn, who expressed fear of your unflinching style of action.
At present, you have plans to speak with Ser Jaime Lannister, if he came with Robert, and then to enjoy your week long tourney, wed your wife, and get these loud oafs from your lands.
>>
All is well Page, I'm here after missing the last two.
>>
Normally here's where I'd put your lands and a map and so on, but I don't know that you'll need it today. SO YOU DON'T GET IT.

Your piece stated, you bid your liege lord farewell, and proceed to attempt to find a familiar face from your days as a squire: Ser Jaime Lannister, now the Kingslayer.

Okay, so last time we were talking to Jon Arryn, right? And our Bannermen are the Painted Dog leader and his son, Luuk, right?
>>
>>25329019
Right, follow up question. Does coastline do anything other than allowing the construction of naval buildings and ships and fishing? Last time I checked, coast/islands massively increase the cost of land, and I want to know why it's so damn expensive.
>>
>>25329019

Yep, that's us.
>>

In other news, here's the archived threads from after our hiatus:

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Iron%20and%20Hate%20Quest

And since you all rolled over 50, Jaime's here!

Jaime Lannister stands aloofly a few yards from where Robert Baratheon is reveling with Tor and Luuk, having struck a quick kinship with the large chief.
He is taller than you remember him, but this is no doubt true of you as well. You've not seen Jaime since he was...17. It's been about 3 years since you saw him, just before the Rebellion.
His hair is still that mane of shimmering gold that some maids prize more than his father's riches, and his face holds that same charming disdain for his surroundings.
He nods at your approach.
"Ah, William. Good to see you. Hopefully with two sinners such as us together, it will keep the good people of your lands at a distance. I've no desire to speak with any more bumpkins."

You know by his smile that his joke bears you no ill will.

>What say?
>>
>>25329062
I'm asking because IIRC we have something like 12 land at the start of the last thread, and I want to know what we should do with it. I'm kinda torn between using any land we get to upgrade our city, and using it to get some more areas to farm/mine.

Also I don't know if you're waiting for us to choose an action, if you're typing up another post or something, so I'm mostly asking questions to pass the time.
>>
>>25329106
"In the past, I found rumours of my supposed blood drinking kept the more troublesome courtiers at bay, perhaps we can fashion a good fascimile?"
>>
>>25329106

"A bumpkin is at least somewhat more honest than the people of the Capital, and the men it breeds. But, I expect you need dishonest men to tell you how pretty you are."

Said in the same jesting tone.
>>
>>25329106
"I'm not so sure Jaime, somehow they've taken a liking to me lately. I think it's because I'm moderately wealthy and throwing a party.

Don't worry, give it a month and I'll go back to be child killer and people will ask if I drink blood."

In the past I found my.... reputation kept the annoyances at bay. I throw one measly party and now all that hard work is gone.
I'm trying to think of a way to blacken my reputation, but honeslty, I don't know how to make it worse than it already is.
>>
>>25329106

I've become rather attached to the more uncivilized members of the bumpkinry. They help to keep most of the noble riffraff away.

It's good to see you again Jaime, how have you been?
>>
>>25329239
Would you really try an execute someone who can cause people to explode just by hugging them?
>>
>>25329124
>>25329062

My updater does things at a weird interval, so sometimes I miss things.

I would say that "All" a coastline does is allow for those things, yes. Now, those things are actually pretty important. If you have a properly fortified Port City, it's practically impossible to starve out in a siege. Trade is vastly easier with ports, and having a navy means you can attack at the same privileges.

It's not exactly cogent, I would say, given your relative distance from actual coastline.

Had a quick work thing pop up, give me 15 to get the response together.
>>
Yes its on again, I feel like Beavis and Butthead watching the Beastie Boys http://youtu.be/-YsiTUxe4MI
>>
>>25329106

"I feel much more safe around them then the civilized Liars at kings landing. It has been far too long jaime since I last saw you."
>>
"I tell you, Jaime, I spent months free from such pests, when they thought me a blood-drinker and feared my reputation. Now my wife throws a party and ruins all that hard work.

The more uncivilized bumpkinry held off the noble riff-raff for a time, but winter always comes in the end.

At least bumpkins are slightly more honest than the people of the Capital, but where would your ego be without those dishonest men to compliment your looks?"

You and Jaime Lannister lock eyes for a moment, and then laugh and slap arms around the other.

"It's been too long, Jaime." You state.

"Last I checked, that was your fault, William." Jaime countered. "You didn't see me lock myself up for years crying over Aery's murder, did you? I always knew I was the harder man."
"Harder, say you? Try me in the practice yard, we'll see who got slow and fat in King's Landing, and who hardened themselves in the Vale!"

>Machismor factor: M. Bison.

Anything else you wish to discuss, or move on?
I believe someone mentioned talking to your maester about Tywin's plan before you moved on to the Tournament proper.
>>
>>25329671
Sure, that's good, I also want to hang around with Jaime, since he's been the most enjoyable guest so far, maybe schedule a friendly spar in the future.
>>
>>25329671
Ask him what he's been up to in the two years we've spent crying over dead children. Any interesting news we might have missed out on.
>>
>>25329671
"You fool, I've been spending these last two years brooding, in order to make myself more appealing to the ladies, with my dark and mysterious reputation.

As you can see by my upcoming marriage, it's obviously worked."
>>
>>25329671
"Yeah, but at least you got a cool name out of it. I mean Kingslayer, it's evocative. I didn't even get a title from my murders. Besides, you can feel proud of what you did in private."

Spend some time catching up with Jaime, we haven't seen him in ages. And stories of the Kingslayer and the Child Murderer laughing together ought to be hilarious.
>>
>>25329671

>king to your maester about Tywin's plan

Not a good idea right now I say. Because we just got the guy I don't think William would trust him enough to mention this.
>>
>>25329821
I agree, I think we should mention that Lord Lannister has taken a great intrest in us, and our future endeavours, and ask him for any advice, or the like.
>>
>>25329805
Gotta agree. Spending time with Jaime will enforce our reputation as a hard person, and honestly, will help keep us away from the riffraff we dislike.

We can end here if you like Page, either works for me.
>>
>>25329859

And yeah, telling our brand spanking new Maester about the plan with Tywin right away is a poor decision. Let's not do that. Remember, these guys serve the realm, not the individual lords.
>>
>>25329778
>>25329734

"Besides, the two years of brooding made me an instant hit among the ladies, Jaime. I got a wife in half a year. Not that I expect you to care, you thought a clean white cloak was better than women."

He laughs. "Not all women, my Lord."

You gasp. "Jaime! Shame! To so dishonor your station by slumming! What further indignities could you stoop to?"

"I was thinking of trying murder, you know? I just can't figure out which of the Seven I'd have to kill to make people forget about Aerys."

"Oh, speaking of forget, any news I would care about in the two years I spent moping?"

You and Jaime pass a while speaking of the past, renewing your friendship, perhaps stronger now that you have both lost so much honor in the eyes of the common people.

Soon, it is time to for the feast, where you are expected to give a speech and toast to begin the week's tourney.

>SPEECH. SPEECH. SPEECH.
>THEN WE CAN ACTUALLY DO THE TOURNEY.
>>
>>25330036
>Speech

First let's ask Tywin about his daughter, the Queen.
>>
>>25330036

Your grace, My Lords and Ladies, knights and gentlefolk, thank all of your for coming to my wedding. I understand that some of you have ridden quite a long distance to be here, and for your presence I thank you. I'm not one for long winded speeches, so I shall be brief.

Thank you for coming. Tournaments start tomorrow, have fun. Try not to taunt the hill tribes. Cheers."
>>
>>25330036

Is Jaime going to be entering the tournament? Or is he not allowed to?

Also, did we warn Jaime about Oberyn Martell?
>>
>>25330036
Make sure Jaime knows about Oberyn and not so jokingly ask if he'll kill him for us if we get poisoned or challenged to a duel by him.
>>
>>25330036
"FRIENDS, NOBLES, DRUNKEN MEN! Lend me your ears! I'd like to thank ALL of you sincerely for taking the time to attend my... well, I guess I can't exactly call it a humble wedding, now can I? I hope you enjoy the cavalcade of delicacies I have to offer you today at this fine feast, and I wish you all the best of luck in the joust to come. Now then, let's eat!"
>>
>>25330036
OP I'm not a damn orator. Say something eloquent.
>>
>>25330262
Well he can't just spoon feed everything to us.
>>
>>25330270
I'm kinda tempted to say 'If the tournament is shite, I'll come down and beat the everlasting piss out of the winner.'
But I know that would be a horrible thing to say.
>>
>>25330303
>But I know that would be a horrible thing to say.

LET'S SAY IT ANYWAY
>>
>>25330328
No, like I said, it would be a horrible thing to say.
>>
>>25330328
>>25330303

Yeah, I like tacking that onto the end. It fits Bordain.
>>
>>25330036

Honestly given Williams personally he seems the type in this situation to just say.

"I wish all who has visited me on this joyous day well. May every one of you gain wealth and happiness. Now lets get to the tourney already I need to go honor everyone in the way I know best."
>>
>>25330408

Do you really want to say that with Oberyn around?

If he thinks he can get a way to cause an actual fight with Bordain, he'd LOVE to get that chance you know.
>>
>>25330127
He smiles "Ooh, kill the Viper? That's a good one. High profile, not well liked...I'll have a go at him if you kick it."

>>25330112
He is not explicitly forbidden, but he chooses not to.

>>25330078
Since this is a fairly major decision, (Assuming you mean what I think you mean.) I'd like some votes to go through with this.
(If you just meant it as a question, it should be noted that, as of last thread, asking after the health of his children is an implicit agreement to become Hand of The King.)

>>25330107
>>25330177
>>25330262

"Lord, Ladies, Your Grace, and assorted greats, mediums, and drunks. I thank you sincerely for your attendance at my..."humble" wedding. It is certainly much greater than I intended. I am not one for long speeches, so let me say this: Those who rode long, thank you. Those who ride, shoot, and fight, tomorrow: good luck. Eat, Drink, and if you get killed because you did something stupid, I will not grieve.

>>25330303
>>25330328
Oh, and, this: as this tourney is in honor of my wife. Fight well, or I'll fight you.

Now eat."

Robert seems to love your last few lines. Several lords and ladies can't decide whether you were joking or not. There is a smattering of applause, and then they eat.

Actually... continued.
>>
>>25330446
Actually, we could just say that his prowess impressed us greatly, and heap loads of praise on him, while grinning like a smug motherfucker.
>>
>>25330460
>That speech

I like it.
>>
>>25330460
Were we supposed to do that now, or did we have until the wedding?
>>
>>25330460

Kingly favour, bitches.

I imagine King Robert is on fairly good terms with us.
>>
>>25330586

I thought Tywin indicated that he would give us some time to think about it, since it is a weighty decision to make. IIRC, we can send the inquiry about Cersei's or Jamie's health via Raven if we want.
>>
>>25330639
Not to mention given how friendly we were with Jamie at the wedding, it'd hardly seem out of place.
>>
>>25330639
Yes we should wait a bit.
>>
>>25330460

"Why not fight 'em from the start, Molehil?!" A drunken voice calls out. Uh-oh.
Robert Baratheon, King of the Andals and the First Men, has risen from his chair.

"C'mon, boy, you never got to compete as jn-ikn-Knight! Have yourself a go in your own tourney! Schow 'em you can school them on your turf! Do it, and the Crown'll cover the wedding AND the tourney!"

You can feel, most specifically, Tywin, Alyssa, and Oberyn's eyes on you. This is a difficult situation. Back down, and you could antagonize Robert, or look a coward. Compete, you could get hurt.
Further, such an offer tempts both your COURAGEOUS and AVARICIOUS nature...
>If you want to refuse, roll 3d6.
>Otherwise, accept.

Both options have bonuses and penalties later.

>>25330586
>>25330639
You have a while, and you can make it solely a question, I just was unsure of that poster's intent.
>>
>>25330775

Let's get in on that shit. Crown our wife the hottest shit in the Seven Kingdoms.

Put a warpick in some fucker's breastplate.
>>
>>25330775
>accept.
"Well who am I to refuse the king? If you so demand it, I will take up the lance!"
>>
>>25330775
See, this is why I said this is a bad idea.
Fuck, every time a make a joke suggestion, people take it seriously and bad shit happens, even when I apprerently give a fucking warning how I'm not serious.

I am never going to make another goddamn joke again.
>>
>>25330775
Accept. This is going to be amazing.
>>
>>25330775

"I expect you to join as well, Your Grace. Can't have the lords and ladies of the Vale thinking their King is a weak one, now can we?"
>>
>>25330843
It was a good suggestion.

We're going to be friends with both the Baratheons and the Lannisters now.

Your grace! It is not only my wedding, my dear lady Alyssa is the queen of my heart and I am hers to command as well.
>>

Who am I to EVER refuse a demand of my King no matter the cost or deed.

*grin*

Of course your grace, I would be delighted to do so. Especially as you feel kind enough to offer the crown's support in this endeavor.

Tomorrow I ride.
>>
>>25330656
I am just hoping the mountain will show up so we can chill with him and Jaime.

>>25330775
Ask our dear fiance what she thinks if she agrees. State that if we do so the fighting better be DAMN good then kinda just fill the rest will silence allowing the listener come up with what will happen to them. Otherwise use it as an excuse to refuse.
>>
>>25330898
It was not a good suggestion, now we're going to get poisoned by a cheating fucktard of a dornish whore.
>>
>>25330938
We're not cowards. Bordain would rather die than lose his dignity.
>>
>>25330639

By the way, personally, and this sounds rather malignant, I say that we don't ask about either Jaime or Cersei's health, but instead ask about the health of both of them. Keep our options open, and pursue both plans until one or the other pans out.

>>25330989

Isn't that just the same thing? I thought asking about his children's health -generally- was an implicit agreement.

Would asking about Tyrion be a flat no?
>>
>>25330938

Nope. We can make it simple. We ride on one side of the lists, while Oberyn rides on the other. Let's not make it obvious that we aren't riding against him, but make it obvious we aren't riding against him. And if we are about to ride against him, lose the fight before it.
>>
>>25331032
Asking about Cierce is... We want to be the hand of the king. Jaime is we want to be Arys' advisor. Tyrion is a flat no. If I remember correctly.
>>
>>25331032

Asking about Tyrion is a flat no.

He said to ask about Jaime for one plan, Cersei for the other. My suggestion is going for both and seeing which path plays out better. Either way, we either replace Arryn as hand, or rule the hand.
>>
>>25331066

I say we should ask about Cersei.
>>
>"Robert does not want me as his Hand. Not after I served Aerys. This leads to three possibilities: First: You become the trusted aide and friend of Jon Arryn. This makes you the advisor of the advisor, and we can influence Robert that way. Second: You overcome Jon Arryn. Fiscally, violently, maritally, hell, merely in Robert's trust, it matters not. You replace him as Hand, and you rule the King. Thirdly...That is a hard road, and one unlikely. Let us consider the first two for the time."

>"I am no fool, to demand an answer now. You must think this through, and reach the conclusion on your own. Write me when you decide, and ask after the health of Jaime or Cersei, respectively, to show which plan you intend. If you reject the plan, and our future, ask after Tyrion."
>>
>>25330835
Second.
>>
>>25331164
I'd say option one is best.

It could even lead us to option two if he thinks we'd be a good successor.
>>
Rolled 67

>>25331190
This is also a good course of action because it can win us the respect of Robert, which will be necessary if we want to become Hand.
>>
>>25330835
That sounds good.
>>
>>25331066

Yeah we ask for Jaime and Cersei. We become Robert's friend and Jon Arryn trusted bannarmen.
>>
>>25330843
If it makes you feel better, there was a chance that this would have happened anyway.
My plan was to have you guys have to negotiate with a hung-over Robert to avoid it tomorrow, your boast moved up the timetable, and got him to pay for the whole thing!

>>25331032
"Jaime" means "I'll befriend Jon Arryn, and be the unofficial hand"
"Cersei" means "I'll REPLACE Jon Arryn"
"Tyrion" means "no", though I did just read something that told me that Tywin doesn't hate Tyrion AS much at present.

>>25330928
>>25330914
"Your Grace, let us not forget, for all our manly valor, that it may be my lands, but it is ALYSSA'S tournament. If she does not wish me to ride, I would scarce start my marriage on such poor footing, no matter how well I ride!"

Your quip draws some laughter, as the crowd turns to Alyssa.
She locks eyes with you. It is clear from your eyes (and the majority of posts) that you're willing to do this, so she nods, and speaks:
"Of course, your Grace. I only wish we had known this earlier, that I might have bought a better dress."

You grin, widely and fiercely.
"Then I am delighted to do so. Tomorrow, I ride."

There is a cheer.

Now, give me 10 minutes or so to draw up the lists.
>>
>>25331221

Exactly. And eventually, either we are ruling through Jon, or Jon reccomends us as his own replacement.
>>
>>25331212
>>25331219
>>25331221

If Jon Arryn dies as he's meant to and we grow in Robert's esteem, perhaps he'd choose us as Hand over Ned Stark. But to eclipse Eddard in his heart would not be easy...
>>
>>25331235

Let's ask about Jaime.
>>
>>25331256
Unless we kill Eddard...
>>
>>25331164
Man, we're going to end up some kind of villain with a heart of gold or something. Or maybe just a straight villain. Who knows.
>>
>>25331295
>Unless we kill Eddard...

...

While I'd rather not have that happen, it would be a great scene if Eddard and William have an argument that leads to fighting.
>>
>>25331260
Guys, this is a decision to make later.
>>
>>25331032
If we want to know about Tyrion we ask Jaime.

>>25331256
In all fairness that would be hell to pull off. We would inevitably do as >>25331295 suggests.
>>
>>25331322
Seriously, he said to write him a letter to send by raven.
>>
>>25331322
Yeeeah, I guess we don't want to seem too eager.
>>
>>25331256
>But to eclipse Eddard in his heart would not be easy...

Its not likely to happen, but we might be simply be closer than Eddard went the time comes, and Robert will be content with that.
>>
>>25331322
Yeah we have like a week right?

A week to try our chances with both Jon Arryn and Robert Baratheon, to kind of get a good handle on what form the path before us would take.
>>
>>25331408
Ideally I'd say that by the time Jon Arryn dies, we would already have done such a good job as his aide that Robert will just give us the position since we were pretty much filling it already.
>>
Cool. As a Lord, you get to skip the first few rounds, as hedge knights and landed knights duke it out.

SO. WELCOME TO THE TOURNAMENT.

Day 1, you don't Joust. Any actions you wish to take today?

>>25331456

I'd rather he not die, if we can help it.
>>
>>25331673

A bit of sparring to prepare ourselves? Make sure our armour and weaponry isn't fucked with in any way.

Maybe talk to our maester about Tywin's offer as well...
>>
>>25331673
Make sure our armor and weapons are in tip top shape. Take a nice long ride to settle ourselves in the saddle. Hopefully get back in time to sit with King Robert and bet on the joust a bit.

>>25331673

>>
>>25331673

See, that our lady is happy, we is probably piss at us.
>>
>>25331673
Spar.
>>
>>25331673
Spend time with our wife to be, and arming ourself properly. Go over our gear heavily, and have Grell keeping a watch out on Oberyn.

Speak with our actual friends like Jaime and find out if the Mountain showed up or not.
>>
We should make sure all the iron we use in the tourney comes from our own forges, just to make sure.

Is there any way we could make a super heavy plate, and use the song of iron or whatever it it's called, and wear it like regular full-plate?
>>
>>25331825
Plate is not that heavy.
>>
>>25331825
I know that, but we treat all armour made in our lands as one category lighter or something.

Plate is the heaviest armour in the game, IIRC, but if we reinforce it, we could make a new category of armour or something and wear it as regular plate.
>>
>>25331796
>>25331699
>>25331712
>>25331739

That morning, you invite Jaime Lannister out to spar with you to get warmed up for the coming jousting. Jaime is happy for the exercise, and impressed at your skill. You might not be quite as good as him, but you're very close.

You ensure that all your equipment is in order, and guarded by men you trust.

You then meet with your wife. She is concerned for your safety, of course, but fortune has favored you: You do ride on the opposite side of the lists from Oberyn Martell. To face him, you must both ascend to the finals.

>>25331757
You approach Lord Belmore about Littlfefinger's idea, and he forestalls your input by sighing, and saying that Littlefinger had told him of your wife's discovery, and that he remains hopeful to find a way to do it. In the interim, he wants to talk with you about your new gold mine and his gems, but that can wait for a later date.

END DAY 1.
DAY 2. You have a joust in the afternoon. Any thing else you wish to do?
>>
>>25332031
Sit with the King and whoever he has with him. Propose some friendly wagers on the joust.

Maybe we should get an Artisan jewler in the future, having easy access to both gold and gems would be nice in that profession. All we'd need is a steady access of silver to finish it.

Also Dreadnaught armour gogogogo!

Make sure we have a very good set of reinforced heavy full plate from our forges. We already probably have a pile of plate lying around, shouldn't take much to reinforce it some, beef it up, and fit it for us.

Also, pay attention to our wife, give her plenty of affection, spend breakfast with her, if she wants to join us in the forges let her come and show her all the stuff in it personally and how it works.

You ready yourself for your joust by checking on your opponent. He's a hedge knight from the North, no real connections. You inspect your equipment again, And flirt with your wife, getting a kiss for good luck, and a token to ride with. You nod to her Bloodsmith guards, who solemnly nod back.

Finally, you mount Stelgar, armed and armored for the coming battle. The air is heavy with tension. Glancing at the stands, you see Jaime watching, and he waves. No sign of Oberyn.

You charge your opponent.

The Bloodsmiths are your Elite Personal Guard. Which means that the 20 of them are roughly equivalent to 100 other Veteran or Elite troops.
To be a Bloodsmith, you must pass a variety of tests, the final one done by you, where you brand your sigil over their heart, and they are not allowed to call out, weep, or fall.

To give you an idea: The Unsullied are Elite Infantry. Your Bloodsmiths cost more than a 100 Unsullied.

>>25332358
The two of you slam into each other, your lance and his colliding with the other's shield. Both Lances shatter, and you see him rock back into his saddle, leaning back, back, and snapping upright again.

>>
>>25332534
Yes. They are a step above Unsullied. And we have troops that are just as good as Unsullied, but wearing better armor and wielding better weapons.
>>
>>25332485
I'm kinda entertaining the of using future power to upgrade the Bloodsmiths in the future. More numbers, peak equipment, that sorta thing.

Also Bloodsmiths that aren't able to fight should be given jobs in the castle, Quartermasters, Drillmasters, that sorta thing.

Not only does guarenteed job security cause them to fight harder for us, but helps improve the odds that they settle down here with a family and raise a new generation of powerful, loyal troops.

Last pass, roll 5d6.

>>25332534
Technically, they're equivalent. But, their unit size is different. The game counts 20 Elite Personal Guard as the same as 100 Infantry. So, individually, yes, your men are better than unsullied. But they would almost never fight just their number of unsullied

The Bloodsmiths don't need to be expanded. Each man in the group is chosen by his peers for entry into the smiths. They put him through the tests, we administer the final tests, and the number always stays at 20. Exit from the smiths is typically through fatality, and has so far been the only way that people leave the smiths. That doesn't mean we treat them as walking dead when they are hurt, but that they get the best/most expensive care possible.

They also are utterly loyal. They can't fight harder for us, because they are already at that level.

Also, their equipment I don't think can get any better. These guys would each be our own equipment equivalent and if we are at least 4/5th as good as Jaime, these guys are close to our level of talent, and probably some of them exceed us in a few areas.

I would match our Bloodsmiths against the current crop of kings guard and expect it to be a bloodbath on both sides, with no survivors.

These guys are literally that good.

>>
>>25332791

Don't know how much good that would do really. We already have something like 1/4 of the entire standing military force in the Vale under our command. We have elite troopers everywhere, and our men are also armed with some of the best, if not the best, gear available. Right now our military expansion isn't going to be the #1 concern truthfully, we can already take on just about any of our neighbors and slaughter them.

I'd say that we focus on consolidating our gains, and expanding on building what we already have into bigger and better. Expand the castle possibly, the town certainly, the mines, the smeltery, etc.
>>
>>25332810
Shouldn't we, y'know, save that for AFTER the wedding?
>>
>>25332831
Bloodsmiths are probably better fighters than we are. Their only job is to fight and protect their lord, we have a myriad of other duties.

>>
>>25332831

Probably, but remember, the Kingsguard never fight fair. Neither would the smiths, but as I said, it would be a hell of a fight, and I wouldn't expect anyone to come out of it on the good side. Remember the old adage, if two men get into a knife fight, the winner goes to the ER, while the loser goes to the morgue.

True the smiths would probably win from numbers, but it would be brutal.

Fine then, is there any way to make our Elite troops even better? Training from bloodsmiths? Access to top quality arms? I doubt we'll match any Great House in quantity of troops, so we have to outmatch them in quality.

Winter is coming, and if we expand our troops too much, I'm afraid we might have trouble feeding them all.
(I don't think the RPG has any rules for logistical demands of troops, but I'm assuming there is, anyways, besides, it takes maybe a month or two to forge a set of gear, it takes almost two decades to forge a warrior.)

Top quality arms. Check and already done in purchase of the units. This shit ain't castle forged steel, it's better.

Training. Check and still doing. These guys aren't just allowed to laze around doing jack all.

Match Great House in quantity. Urm... Page, how does our troop count compare up to specifically Jon Arryn? Didn't you say that we were either equal or damned close to it in numbers a few threads back?

Match great house in quality. The only thing we don't have compared to great house is household knights. The Bloodsmiths could make it as Knights, but our best bet is to possibly recruit a few promising younger landless knights from here and there during our tournament and see if we can get them to stick around.

Also, Page, the one group of people that NONE of us have even thought to ask about.

Our parents and family.

Yeah, I'm for a castle expansion, town expansion, and etc for each of our improvements. Especially if the crown returns our 20 wealth back to us that we spent on this shindig. >>25333192
I have a storyline, but no one's really asked, nor has it come up.

Let's talk about some of it NOW.

Riding out from the Jousts, you dismount, to have someone grab your shoulder and spin you around, before grabbing you in a fierce bearhug. It's your father, Ser Reynard Ruttiger, clasping you to him.
"WILLIAM!" He shouts, his mouth mere inches from your ear.

AS you flinch away from his voice, you see your mother and sister behind him, a ways off.

"MY BOY!" Your father was never known for his love of peace or quiet, but by the Seven, could he not shout in your ear?

"My Boy! It's been so long! How the hell have you been?!"

He's patting you fiercely, looking you up and down.

Your father is large man. He'd have to be, given your immense size. But where you have hard, flat muscles from long hours, he is as broad as the Wall. His hair is wild, tangled, and as red as ever. A landed Knight of Casterly Rock, he was set to train his eldest son, Tytos, to serve like him, and honor the house, when they saw a pack of bandits descend on some travellers. They rode to their rescue, where Tytos died protecting one of the nobles from the bandits. That noble, your father learned over his son's corpse, was Tywin Lannister, and he owed your father a debt.

pic of your dad. And pretty much your mom.
>>
>>25333553

Trust me, we can (and will) spend it. That's a given. And yeah, we are swimming in filthy lucre for the time being. But you can bet that we will have to spend money to make more money. And after all, we do have our own goals, even ones that Tywin doesn't know about.

Not so fucking guady, maybe etched with delicate and intricate inlays of silver, with some gold trim or something, shit's that's classy as fuck, not some kind of stupid bling weapons.

We want to give the impression that we're competent, leave the over the top wealth displays to the Lannisters, or something.
>>

>>25333682

Shitty example is mostly due to my lacking google-fu (apparently it's pretty hard to find images of gem encrusted weaponry).

Most of it is because we're wating for Page to update.

Yeah. We aren't really splitting hairs, just setting up planning for later while waiting.

And sadly, my waiting is just about at an end. It's 1:30am where I am, and I have to get up at 6am for work sadly.

Last thread's wealth is post Tywin's gift.

>>25333662
Your father was a Landed Knight of the Westerlands. His name is Ruttiger. You could not be made Lord of that land and name, as your father would have to be first. And they wanted to reward YOU. So they gave you a new name, to avoid confusion, and your lands in the Vale. It's weird, but how that thing goes down in history.

>>25333762
>>25333691
"Father, I am...better than I was."

"Ay, son," he says, a sudden wash of solemnity falling over him. "We heard of your troubles, and the deeds you had to do. We thought to visit, but...no one knew exactly where your lands were! We'd have wandered the Vale for months! Know that we...well, your mother and I never stopped loving you." He grasps you in another crushing hug, which you return with almost equal strength. you stand clasped together for a minute or two, in the vain hope that pressure could drive out tragedy, before your father releases you.

"Now then, where's this girl you go an marry without showing your father and mother! Your mother's been going wild as a shadowcat, for fear of wearing the wrong color dress to her son's wedding!"

You hug your mother, who greets you calmly. "You know, William, a single raven a year isn't too much for a mother to ask."

You go to hug your sister, who flinches away.
"Don't touch me!" She cries. "If I could have refused, I wouldn't be here. Murderer!" Spitting the word at you, she storms away. Your mother and father look at you, at her, and look elsewhere, shame and sorrow clearly written on their face.

Well, that was...deflating.
>>
apart from Obryn we don't have that much of a security risk, relax and chill out if there is a fight coming I'm guessing were going to see it coming a bit before the storm hits
>>
>>25333997

Wave it off and go talk about how things are going with mother/father. We had to have expected at least one of our family would feel that way.
>>
>>25333997
Well... that sucks. Try to maintain composure (I think there is a roll for that)? While taking our parents to see our bride to be.
>>
>>25333997

"I... see. Mother, Father... I am sorry. I haven't been a true son to either of you. Please, forgive me. Stay for the wedding. I'm sure Alyssa would love to meet you. You shall not want for anything under my roof. I... want to ammend for my mistakes. Please, forgive me, I-I'm... not so good at apologies."
>>
>>25333997
Welp, time to punch something big, heavy, and taller than we are for that remark.

And break it.

"Was only a matter of time til someone called me that to my face, on this day. My own sister though..."
>>
>>25333997

While understandable, it's sad. :(

Let's introduce our bride-to-be to our parents and show them to Lord Tollett.
>>
>>25334072

This.

>>25334074

Also this.
>>
>>25334071

I like this.

99% of the time, William is a hard man with steel emotions.

But with our parents, however, we're an open book in emotional levels.
>>
>>25333997

I see that my reputation proceeds me, even amongst mine own kin. I take it father, that she has taken to believing each and every word that has been whispered about both me and the deeds I performed. No matter, it is good that you have come, and mayhaps with time she will come around to understand that I did what needed to be done.

Mother, forgive me for not writing, it has been a bad time for me until recently. I shall endeavor to never let it go so long again.

Let's go see Alyssa and you can both of our approve of one of my choices for once.

>>
>>25334071
>>25334173
can't choose which...
Something this anon would like to bring up a plan.

For you see we no some of the tagaryen children would of escaped and they would be a means for our redemption. We also are building up a massive army and I would just hate for it just to sit around doing nothing. Which is why I shall bring up this plan.

Send out our spare forces to serve as mercs across the seas(tasty monies). This will provide precious experience(seasoned/better troops) and keep our men from getting to bored not to mention advertise our wares through example(yet more monies). Naturally they would cycle with our garrisoned force at home to give them some relaxation time. Now the trickiest part we are gonna want to have some people who we can trust COMPLETELY with this next part. These people are to keep an eye on the children from afar. IF they can get away with helping them without anyone discovering they should be encouraged to do so.
>>
>>25334204
Fuck that.

Killing the Targaryans were never not a good move.

Gambling on hoping that they'd grow up to be the next Rhaegar, who clearly used up the last amount of decency in that entire family line, is for suckers.
>>
>>25334204

No. That would be treason, and it would be our head on the spike along with our men, our own family, and Alyssa. Fuck the Targaryen kids, let them rot.

If WE knew that the kids escaped, it would be our solemn duty to find them, and butcher them. It is exactly what our liege lord at the time (Tywin) commanded us to do, and is what our king would command us to do. Especially given that we have proved that we are willing to do it already.

And we are already planning on joining Tywin in one plot, we don't need to go fucking him, that would be our end very quickly indeed.
>>
>>25334071

Little too sappy for me. William seems the type so far to be hardened to things like this. So while I can see him getting angry. Apologizing is a little off. He lives though his reputation of hardness and you don't just toss that away that easy even with family.
>>
>>25334204

Bordain doesn't want redemption. He wants to ruin the people who forced him into the whole business with the Targaryen children.

That may also be meta-gaming.
>>
>>25334266

Agreed.

Bordain isn't our for redemption. He embraces who he has been forced to become. Doesn't mean he likes it, but he does plan to use it in his own way for his own vengeance.

And yea, meta gaming is bad.
>>
>>25334204
I don't want to start backing the Targaryens. It just seems unwise. I mean we were put in power by their fall. The mercenary idea doesn't sound half bad though. Not that our elite troops can get any more experienced.
>>
>>25334265

William may not want redemption, but it's clear his hatred for Twin and Robert comes from the shame and guilt of what he did. His family has suffered for it and we neglected them. Apologies don't make a man any less hard. A man recognizes his flaws. Even iron has imperfections.
>>
>>25334291

Kind of think of him as having mixed feelings. He realizes his murder of the children was useful to him. He knows his reputation is useful in power plays and the like. At the same time emotionally he doesn't like it and hates that he had to do it even while he enjoys the fear he causes.

You gaze after your sister, a year older than you, who played with you when Tytos didn't want to, and just threw murderer in your face. For a moment, you let the sorrow bubble up within you, staining the world the shimmering blur of unshed tears, before you choke it back down. All told, you stand frozen for perhaps half a minute, your parents watching you, tears in their eyes as well.

"I-. I see that my reputation has proceeded me, as it ever does. I expected to hear it at some point this week, but...not from her. I hope she will understand why I did what I did, in time. But you can't rush these things."

You shake your head. You pride yourself that no drops fall. You can cry inside, but not without. Not again. Never again.

"Where are my manners? You came all this way for a wedding, and to join our family, at the very least you must meet the family!"

So saying, you lead your parents to your wife's seat, where she and her father watch the competitors. They are a short distance from Tywin, Robert, and Jaime. Jaime and Tywin both acknowledge your family's arrival, Jaime waving and Tywin nodding as he looks sideways at you.

The rest of the day passes with your family getting to know Lord Tollett, and Alyssa.

Let's use the rage. We have it, we may as well use it to prove a point.

Joust #3, use a fate to add to our roll to ensure that whoever we face is knocked right the fuck out. Make it clean, make it utterly professional, and use it to push out some of the rage that is bottled up from our sister's reaction.

OH! Fees instead of feels, I didn't notice at first.
>>
>>25334496
fate?

Let's continue with the tourney
>>
>>25334360

Who is our opponent?
>>
>>25334524

Yes. Fate. It's a pseudo hidden stat that lets us do things during "scenes" that otherwise we wouldn't be able to do. It can mitigate wounds, make us more powerful or charismatic. It can be temporarily used for situations like this, or permaburned for emergencies.

A situation like this calls for a use of one, but not a burning of one.
>>
>>25334496

Fate is a little valuable though. Though if we just use one I think we will get it back soon enough. Still want to save it for our dear friend poisoner
>>
>>25334564

Yeah, burning one for this is fucking stupid.

Using one, however, seems fine.
>>
>>25334524
How many do we have?
>>
>>25334564
I thought we stopped using fate points a while ago?
>>
>>25334437
SPECIAL BONUS POINTS.
That night, you speak alone with your wife to be about your sister's reaction, and the pain it caused you. She is sympathetic, and tries to comfort you, though, lacking siblings of her own, she cannot perfectly relate. She is still moved by your inclusion of her in this emotional even for you.

FUCKING 10 Marital Bliss points! Total now 23 unless I can't count. (might be 28?)

>>25334524
Another thing that doesn't come up often:
I'm totally just using the A Song of Fire and Ice Roleplaying game for the math. And that game lets you use Fate points (actually destiny points, but whatever.)
Typically, I use them for what I think of as "important" re-rolls and bonuses. You guys can totally just say "I want to use a destiny point" though.

I don't advertise that it exists, since I use my discretion on what/when a "story goal" is, and I would hate to have half of the threads be "Should we use one now?" "It's risky" "I think it's worth it."
So, most of the time, I just give you guys a couple invisible re-rolls every session.

You've actually still got 4 until the next story goal. So you can use one now and against Willas, as some people have mentioned. and even against Oberyn.

>>25334615
You mount Stelgar, who feels your simmering rage, and paws at the turf, huffing in joint anger.
This Joust does not. take. Long.
Like a lightning blot you slam your lance into his shield, as his lance snaps against your shield. For a moment, your lance holds, and you shove forward with all the rage and power in your heart and arm, the lance bowing, bowing, bowing, and then shattering in the blink of an eye.

But that does not dissipate the force you pour into him, oh no. He is thrown. Like a stone from a catapult. (He had to pass a 15 in 3d6. He rolled a 4) He crashes to the ground like a fallen bird, and you hear the crack as he lands on his leg. He is ushered from the field to a doctor's care, as the crowd cheers your fury.

(He is Maimed. Unless you feel angry enough to make him Dead.)

Sparing the poor knight your displeasure (I mean, Jesus, you dealt 19 damage after his armor. He had 6 health!) You have completed the first half of the jousitng of the tournament.

Also, since their seems to be some confusion, a current timeline:

Start of thread: Day -1: Meet Jaime, Feast.
Day 1: No joust, some talking.
Day 2: Joust, invite wife to bed, Family arrives.
Day 3: Level that poor fool.

You may now do anything you wish to for the rest of the day. Tomorrow is the Archery contest, no jousts will be held.

Then there's the last two jousts, and the Grand Melee.

(only 4 events left! Yes!)
>>
>>25335126
So in two days it's the semi finals, and the day after that is the finals?
>>
>>25335126

Have dinner with our family and Alyssa. Maybe invite someone else. Tywin or Jaime, maybe.
>>
>>25334951
Don't kill him. The man fights in your honor, remember? It wouldn't be fitting for him to die at the hands (or lance) of his lord.
>>
>>25335138
No, the grand melee is seperate. The finals are the second joust, presumably against martell.
>>
>>25335110

To kill the viper? I think there is exactly ONE person more detested throughout the realm than us.

And that's him. As I said, I would permaburn one to kill him in a joust. It's known to happen, and if he died, then well fuck, I guess we add "Martellsbane" to our name.
>>
>>25335153

I say we ask our lady wife if she'd like to go for a ride in the country side, and find out what she does for hobbies besides riding. Ask her what she thinks of our new maester, and if she's had a chance to meet him. If not, we should introduce them.
>>
>>25335168
On the other hand, now I'm just fine with murderizing him, I'm leery of burning a point, however.
>>
>>25335153

Dinner with us, our family, and wifes family. This also is an important suggestion. We have a liege lord who is both our lord, and our wife's fathers lord. No insult to Robert or Tywin, but Jon and his wife would probably be a good choice to invite, even if he says no.
>>
>>25335126

I say we talk to our sister. Well, try to, at least.
>>
>>25335168

In reality, you had a LOT of knights come, so you're basically doing the VIP jousting, while there's another 10 or 20 Jousts a day.

You'll have an important fight tomorrow, and the next day, if you're still competing.

We should look for some prospective talent in this tournament, it's a fucking huge one, meaning there's talent about, and the fact that everyone knows that we can afford to throw a tournament so big that the King and Tywin came means they know we have enough wealth to support them.

We should be able to find a nice crop of knights to add to our house, hell with the amount of people attending, and our fame rising because of it, we might even be able to afford to be choosy about it.

A marriage is a binding not just of two people, but of two families. A chance for the love of two hearts to catch light in the higher branches of their family tree. It is a way to share the burdens and joys of life. Marriage has kept my parents together through the raising of two boys, and the loss of one. It has brought Lady Arryn to the height of the court, and given my lord a woman with which to share the burdens of a job I would not wish on my enemies, and it has given me a light, in a life that seemed so dark.
Let this dinner, and this marriage, show each of us as we are to those who love us best, and may it be the first of many."

(That may have run away with me.)

You receive a(n)...(roll with bonus...crit success!) exuberant applause from the gathered people, before the table begins to eat and talk with each other. You see your father and Lord Tollett engaged in intense talk, which when you lean in, is about various boars the two have killed. Your wife and mother are talking to the Arryns, though if your eye is not wrong, Jon is paying more attention to the talk of the fathers, and itching to jump in with a story of his own.
Your sister came to the dinner, but seems intent on not participating, not meeting anyone's gaze, and idly toying with her food.

>any action, or let ti unfold?
>>
>>25335694

Hmm, maybe find a way to get Jon out of his current conversation, and then bring him over to talk with our father and father-in-law?
>>
>>25335694

Try and talk with our sister.

Be very gentle and diplomatic, and honest as well.
>>
>>25335694
First, try to talk to our sister, don't push her, but try to talk to her.

At some point join the conversation of the men, open a chance for Jon to join in with us and talk about his exploits.
>>
>>25335730
>>25335765

Personally, I think we shouldn't do this in public.

Leave it a private matter.
>>
>>25335765
>>25335730
I'm not sure about this, I think it could really backfire if she makes a scene in front of our liege lord.
>>
>>25335773
Yeah. Agreed here.
>>
>>25335773
This. Don't need to make a potential scene here
>>
>>25335773
He's right, this is definitely something for a later date.
>>
>>25335694

Mention our own exploits at the hunt and then ask Lord Arryn if he has any input.
>>
>>25335773
>>25335782

At least let us ask to see her in our Solar or something.
>>
>>25335804

This
>>
>>25335804
This, definitely. If we have no exploits in hunts then well... crap.
>>
>>25335782
>>25335789
>>25335791
>>25335795
>>25335765
>>25335804

You glance at your sister, but think better of speaking to her in mixed company, and decide to extricate your lord from the women.

You ask Lady Arryn to switch seats with you, and so doing, divide the table into the men's half, and the women's, allowing you to tell your own hunting stories, few as they are, and get Jon Arryn's. His hunting has focused more on falconry, though he recalls one hunt of himself, Eddard Stark, Robert Baratheon, and Brandon Stark, when Eddard and Robert were his wards, where they were hunting deer, but chased one into the den of a Bear, that emerged furious to have been woken.

You seem to have a good flow going with the men of the table, and all the women excepting your sister seem to be enjoying themselves.

(RESOLVE? CONTINUE? ASK TO SEE SISTER LATER?)

If continue, suggest a theme or something. While I could extemporize the dinner conversation of half a dozen people at one table, it wouldn't give you an chance to input.
>>
>>25335965
Maybe ask about the joust? Like not how we did, but everyone else?
>>
>>25335965
>If continue, suggest a theme or something.

We could talk about jousts and tourneys maybe? Riding that high with us managing to so thoroughly beat the guy.
>>
>>25335965
>ASK TO SEE SISTER LATER?
This can wait until the end of the meal, in my opinion.

>CONTINUE?
Try to steer the conversation towards work. Mention Lord Baelish's plan for the dredging and our wife's clever mention of the effect it might have on the fish in the river. Gripe about revenues and trade.
>>
>>25336039
To clarify, we would do this in the hopes of getting some insight into what's going on in King's Landing with Robert and Arryn.
>>
>>25335965
Continue the talk, talk lightly about business, our steel, our lands, gripe a bit, ask our father the state of his lands, how they've been since we've been gone, Jon may talk some of politics but don't push him on the subject. If he wants to gripe some let him.

Give our wife-to-be a smile and nod and listen in a bit on what they're talking about, trust her with the conversation just keep tabs on it.

Ask to see sister later, but not right now, we'll ask her around the end of the meal.
>>
>>25336034
>>25336036

You turn the talk to an analysis of the jousting. The consensus between Arryn and Tollett is that there's some interesting knights workign their way up, but the big money's going on:
Oberyn Martell, since at least one of his opponents dropped rather than face him;
you, after your slammed that man halfway to the Seven Hells;
Donal Clamon, who rides with perfect Technical style;
Willas Tyrell, a crowd favorite for his kindness. He's already ransomed back his opponent's steeds and armor, and freely given the funds to the smallfolk;
A Northman called Helman Tallhart, who has yet to even tilt in his saddle;
or a sellsword, named Kurt. He's an unexpected contender.

Lord Arryn notes that today your rode like a man possessed, his raised eyebrow indicating a question.
>>
>>25336175
>a sellsword, named Kurt.

Is that a reference to the Game of Thrones: Ascent facebook game?
>>
>>25336175

"King Robert demanded I participate in the joust and my Lady gracefully accepted. What choice do I have but to ride to my very best?"
>>
>>25336175
Fucking faggit Kurt.

Let's throw him in a vat of iron.

Sacrifice to strengthen the steel.
>>
>>25336175
>Willas Tyrell, a crowd favorite for his kindness. He's already ransomed back his opponent's steeds and armor, and freely given the funds to the smallfolk.

Hrm. How about we do the same? With the steed and armor anyway, I mean. Go easy on the guy a bit, after we mauled him.
>>
>>25336175
"I was called out to joust by my King and my Lady granted me her favor, how could I ride in any other way? I was not jousting for merely my own honor, but for those who placed their trust in me as well. I could hardly afford to put on a poor showing."

>>25336234
He's stubborn and a hedge knight, might need a place to work, like in Morderengrad.
>>
>>25336234
I think after crippling the guy, we should probably just give him his armor and horse back. We can give the hedge knight his armor back in exchange for his service.
>>
>>25336234

Though come to think of it, with our recent windfall from BOTH Tywin's gift and Robert's generosity, we could probably spend some money on throwing a feast for the smallfolk maybe?

>mfw, I just realized the King is paying for our wedding.
>>
>>25336278
Yyyup, and with Tywin's gift we ended up coming out richer for throwing the biggest wedding this side of the Narrow Sea.
>>
>>25336266
Wait, scratch that, got people mixed up.

The hedge knight who was stubborn we can offer a job, we can ransom that guy's armor back for cheap, we don't really need money right now and reputation from being a generous winner is worth a lot.

Who was that guy anyways?
>>
>>25336268
>we could probably spend some money on throwing a feast for the smallfolk maybe?

Let's do this.
>>
>>25336202
>>25336219
I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

>>25336213
He nods at your response, accepting the lie for what it is.

From there, you move to talk about your work, the news lands, your fathers' holdings, this proposal by Littlefinger, and all the many things that trouble a lord in his day.

Jon Arryn complains that if you or Oberyn kill each other before the end of the week, he'll have to go on another mission to Dorne to sort the whole thing out.

That seems to be the closest you'll get out of him tonight, as the dinner winds down. As it does so, you reach over, and tap your sister, who you suspect, is beginning to doze, and ask her to meet yo in your solar after teh meal. Her face tightens, and she opens her mouth, but then she closes it, and nods tersely.

AND THAT'S THE BALL GAME.

Join us next week for: Sibling drama! MURDER! Jousitng. Potentially no MURDER!

I've been your host, Page, and let me play you out.

>I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

In the Game of Thrones Ascent facebook game, there's a character named Kurt. He's a bard and your cousin.

Also, archived?
>>
>>25336325
Hyyyyyyyype. Thanks again, Page!

>Willas Tyrell
>Oberyn Martell
>William

In one tournament Willas in the future becomes crippled. I think I see why.
>>
>>25336346
Done.

Feel free to discuss tactics and ideas in the thread, or any questions you have.

I'll be around for another hour or so.
>>
>>25336399
Yes. "Future".

This is why Oberyn Martell is here. This is SUPPOSED to be that Tournament. But you might beat Willas, defusing the current generation's Tyrell/Martell feud.
>>
>>25336438
How did I guess? Though I don't think our Jousting skills are the best so the odds of beating Willas is low.
>>
>>25336458
Obviously we need our sister to say more hurtful things to us, so that we can defeat our opponents with sheer rage and greif.

Nothing can halt our unstoppable angst!
>>
>>25336325
Okay, for our sister, my basic idea of what sort of thing to say.

"Hello (Name), it's been a long time. I've missed you more than I can say.

You've heard a lot of terrible things about me, and the things I have done. I won't insult your intelligence by trying to deny what has been said of me, not all of it is true, some is a lie and exaggeration, I do not drink blood nor do I grind bones into my steel, but most of it is based in fact, I did kill children and get rewarded for it. I am often as cold and unyielding at the steel I make, I am a murderer and a villain. I could say that it was because I was ordered to, that it was my sworn duty to do so, that some men must do what others will not, but that wouldn't change a single thing.

Westeros has called me these things, and I have endured, their words have not weighed on me, not in comparison to my own guilt. But you were the one I wished least to call me a murderer. Perhaps that is why I did not contact you or the rest of my family until this day, because I did not wish to know if you hated me and preferred to be ignorant of it rather than find out.

Dear (Name), I do not expect you to forgive me, I do not deserve forgiveness. But I will always love you no matter what you say.

Do at least try to get along with Alyssa, I think you'd like her quite a bit if you gave her a chance. She is innocent in what I have done and deserves none of your hate. I truly do care for her, I don't want her to be unable to befriend because of what I did."
