You are a human-form gargoyle crafted of marble set to protect a small town on the frontier of the wild darkness. Your people are still ignorant of what you are, and rightfully so.

Knowledge of what you are would simply prove that they fear you or the monsters among them tempt your destruction.

Last night: Angel chatted with Marble for some time, about what to do next, facing his sentences of either learning his name or facing exile.

Preparing for impending Exile or whatever learning his name may bring, he turned to his pedestal and devoured the powerful and personal artifact with the teeth that he's inherited from the Lady of Teeth.

After facing off against his inner "demons" and nearly succumbing to the Scylla, Angel comes back to the real world and reads his name aloud...

Arthur begins his decent down this rabbit hole...

Awaken Arthur, the night is mad.

(Apologies for my tardiness, fucked up the time adjustment... again...)
>>
You open the scrap of paper slowly, your heart Pounding if you truly still had one...

The paper begins to unfurl...

In the late of the night and the early of morning, sparse moonlight sifting in through the dilapidated roof of your church, and broken stained glass...

You see that the paper reads...

"The name of this Gargoyle is Arthur. An orphan taken... in..."

Your vision begins to go blurry as the memories surge forth, your body shakes with the realization that it was once a man.. you drew breath once... You push that as far back as possible and try to read what more is there...

"by... the order... of Masons. Known for the last forty years as "Stone Mason" upon graduating in the order..."

Your flesh.. your stone begins to hurt... begins to ache as even more comes rushing back... You... remember... You... read on...

"Within the last year, Stone Mason new his time in this world grew short... His life nearing... an end... Skill... near perfection..."

You close the note in your fist... you need to read nothing else... You were old, dying, you chose to make your last gargoyle... the one that all masons make before their passing. The one that takes all of their skill, all of their effort to create even as they infuse their soul into it.. as they tempt themselves into both demon and fae...

You feel a cold sweat come on.. or is that your stone... The walls seem to close in... you... you're trapped... trapped in this prison of stone... What... What have you done...

You've given... You've given your life for the final virtue and selfish act that the masons can carry out...

You... you were your own maker... and Marble... Marble was your apprentice.

She was unique among the orphans, with red eyes and white hair.. yet it was no surprise that her parents abandoned her.. Those would be signs of a demon child.. yet under your wing she learned the craft and you found someone for the first time that felt such empathy towards gargoyles..
>>
There's so much to remember... so much.. and...

You feel a sudden revulsion as you suddenly want to break something. You look to your side and you see that a pew is now broken, you smile. It was... fun... But now you're angry... you do it again, to another one. THis time paying attention to the way the wood is crushed under your fist...

Why... did you choose to be an angel? A demonic form would be much more... dangerous.

You can't quite remember and that makes you smile. It's funny. It was so important and then it's not there. It's almost enough to make you want to eat your arm.

You bite deeply into the left, holding your teeth there, feeling the copper and iron within you...

Suddenly it dawns on you... that you were a mason... that your name was Arthur... but why? And why should you care now?

That life is gone, nothing else really should matter..

You open the door to the church and stare at the waning moon looming over the town. The village is in ruins.... its your fault...
>>
You begin to laugh out loud at the ruin. The people must be suffering... You don't care... why should you care? You once cared...

Does it even really still matter?

What have you forgotten?

Everything.

You suddenly have a crashing for human flesh... it wells up within you... Your stone shuddering to contain it, a low growl emanating from deep within your throat... did you have a throat?

You kneel down and take to all fours, gripping through the soil with your marble fingers. The feeling soothes you... and through the earth you feel so much more...

The vibrations of people walking across the earth... the gentle reverberations of the cacophony of "sounds" as they panic, seize... go still..

The hunger is replaced with a need for teeth... Such sweet delicate things they are.. these...teeth... Sweets rot them away, yet before that they are so strong.. so.. white... Only the fae have such white teeth... the people only have shades of yellow...

Lady Manse has white teeth. Why does Lady Manse have white teeth?

You ponder the question...

>[] I want teeth of the people, perhaps they will adorn my own church steeple?
>[] How about the flesh of the sirens? After all, they deserve the liar's end.
>[] I should be teaching these people how to dance...
>[] I should ask the Lady Manse, why her teeth are so white, and if by chance..

Yeah, usually participate but I'm just too burned out today. Hopefully this'll be a good session once people notice it's up. Any way, g'night SM and thanks for running.

>>[] How about the flesh of the sirens? After all, they deserve the liar's end.
Let's see what happens.
>>
If I had to guess Id say the other guys may be at shadow quest trying to punch a lich in the dick.
>>
>>25209239
Guilty. Completely forgot to check for this for a bit there.
>>
>>25209239

That was my guess... running the same time as Shadow quest has proven slow before.
>>
>>25209278
Perhaps if you got a twitter for this?
>>
>>25209306

Thought about it, suppose I could.

Going with the flesh of sirens if no one else has anything to say.
>>
>>25209278
i blame your timing problems, wasnt sure if it was happening tonight either

lets go eat some fried fish
>>
>>25209221
Sure. Let's get moving. Also, what are you're thoughts on eating the priest Snaps?
>>
As a note, it's still not yet determined what's happening to Arthur.

He's having a very confused moment in his life right now.
>>
>>25209378
Clegane's a cool guy that I'd rather not kill.

And I think he's worth more as an npc than as whatever amount of xp he's worth.

Then on top of that is the fact that the Shadow could tell we ate the two necromancers. Clegane has much more life force, so to anything that can detect human eating, we'd look like a gargoyle that's eaten hundreds of people.
>>
>>25209447
>life
whatever you say mason
>>
Are the sirens fae or primal do we know?
>>
>>25209447
Well shucks, that changes things. Also, I'm kinda surprised that merging our fae mind and demonic core hasn't unlocked that last bit of the magic tree.

On further thought, if this is a weird moment in his existence I think Arty can make some more bad decisions.
>>
>>25209477
there are the creatures in the lake and gnomes in the mountain
>>
>>25209465
Oh, so you still want to protect the town. Disappointing since I expected this to allows a lot of cheap exp before leaving this waste of rubble behind us. Which reminds me, if our Mason skills are returning, we should steal the tools of the trade and make ourself a day walker. That weakness is too much whether or not we decide to go rogue.
>>
>>25209477

Arthur originally surmised that they were fae.

The Scylla, Eury had told him that they were sirens, demons that ate the flesh of man.
>>
Oh yeah I forgot about the gnomes. I was just wondering if they counted as some sort of watery fae because of the whole drowning people for kicks thing.
>>
>>25209598

Oh shit, Gargoyle quest is back.
>>
Your mind churns with stormy thoughts of the mermaids.. or sirens ans you've come to know them to be...

They lied to you and for that they will die.

Who else has lied to you? You ponder this...

The manse has not lied to you quite as much as the mermaids.. why should she die? She has an agenda...

No... She is the one that put snakes into your hope.

You spread your wings from your form and lurch into the air upon a heavy gust that tingles across your flesh...

This.. is indeed a good feeling... to be alive...

You soar over the tormented town, little damage in way to the buildings, yet so many dead.

You smile. So many dead...

You soar to the middle of the lake, among the rocks that you hid the Scylla's upper body...

You sense the red-haired Genevieve through the enchanting, bewitching mist.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Liars will meet a liars end. Your very own death my hands will send."

The mermaid seems surprised, she stares at you, with her enchanting, glowing eyes and fiery red hair running into the waters," I... have no idea what you speak of Gargo-"

You are upon the liar in an instant after a lunge from the stone, your body feeling... graceful, agile.. you plunge into the water with your hands around her neck, strangling the witch.

Your voice rings out, far more distorted than usual,"Pretend, pretend, the game of lies, it shall be your end, your own demise. Call for your family, t'would be wise."

The creature beneath your grip begins to writhe and squirm as her true form comes to the surface, the monster with a fish-like jaw and a maw filled with teeth. Her empty soulless eyes staring at you helplessly as her tits sag even in the waters.

Your weight presses down upon her as you soon reach the bottom, sunken into the riverbed, and you devour the soul of the mermaid, taking it whole.

I suppose we should go eat those sirens now. Proably should see if the weapons man is there on the way

Roll for trait.

1-2 Man Eater: You have an exceptional taste for human men.
3 Dead Seas: You permeate a subtle corruption that taints waters that you are near, turning it into saltwater.
4 Fixation: People that observe you become fixated, unable to look away until interrupted by an outside source.
5-6 Siren's Song: Enraptures mortals and lesser supernaturals to your haunting whims. making them docile or agressive based on your intention.
7-8: Illusionary Mist: You can conjure a mist that will cause the weak-willed to see what they want to see.
9 Mer-kin: Growing more familiar with the waters, you are able to operate as well as you would on land, negating any penalty to the sea. Any water-based primal magic receives a +15 bonus.
>>
>>25210108
Well...
>>
>>25210108
Excellent. Time to see Mistress Manse I think.
>>
You feel revulsion as the tainted creature enters your body... the flesh and soul of Genevieve bring an unholyness to your being.. one that you... somewhat enjoy...

Her family begins to gather around the death of their kin, their forms slowly changing... With you at the bottom of the riverbed, you can see that you are at a disadvantage... Yet there is always the sky... Isn't there?

You look at the rippling darkness, seeing that there's still not a cloud on this horrible, depraved night... Whatever shall you do?

A pair of teeth lock into your arm, the matron of the Siren... You have a set of those as well.

Your jaw snaps open and those shiny-white faerie teeth of yours extend into place as you bite through the head of the monster, more blood filling the water as you eat her too.

>Exp gained 3.
>Total exp 6.

The rest of the creatures clamor around, and you smile...

"Come one, come all. This here is a feast on the liar's grave. Look here at the ones you couldn't save."

Their anger, barely constrained, it becomes a feeding frenzy... for you...

5-6 Sirene Song: Enraptures mortals and lesser supernaturals to your haunting whims, making them docile or aggressive,
7-8: Illusionary Miasma: You can conjure a mist that will cause mortals to see what they want to see, and others to see what they see.

You work your way out of the muck and the mire of the riverbed, trudging along through the bloody waters, a smile plastered upon your face as you have taken sweet satisfaction upon those monsters, whatever they were.

It doesn't matter.

You take a moment and observe that it is now.
2:30.

The night is still so young, so very young... There are things to kill people to eat, and words to be spoken from the one called..

Arthur... your name is Arthur right?

Yes, the last of your days, you were a strong, yet very old man... the ripe age of sixty... Thirty years since you had finished your apprentice-ship... And twenty-five since you had taken in the five year old child that recently told you your name...

Poor Marble.. The dear girl only ever wanted to do right by you.. her incessant belief that there was indeed a god left in this world was scoffed at by some other Masons.. though you tolerated them... you tolerated them and told her that you believed... That you believed...

In what?

We need teeth. Where shall we find them?

Curse of Pain

Inflicts selected target creature and those within a meter radius a curse of increasingly agonizing pain. The more mana used in the spell, the more intense the pain is. The curse is more easily fascilitated with an item of personal possession and if infusion is cast with it, can generate a voodoo doll.

This is the prerequisite to Eldritch.

Rain

3XP. With master of wind and water, you are capable of gathering clouds in the sky and causing a downpour. The rain may be ended with effort on the gargoyle's part, however the forces of nature are fickle and may not obey under certain conditions.

Mist

1XP. Uses minor control over water and air to cause an obscuring mist to occur. With adequate water, it will become quite thick and heavy.

Eldritch: Increases Maximum mana by 10 (Current Mana 45/45) and hard-lowers the final cost of all spells by 1. (After modifiers.)

Global Spell reduction.

Dominance II (Acquired)

An upgraded version of dominance, increases success of primal rolls by +15 and negates the control of a primal creature with less than this rank of Dominance.
>>
>>25211419
Is it possible to do any spells that would have been 1mana pre-eldy for free now? Or does that just not work.
>>
>>25211481

The mana cost of most spells is x2 of the exp value. So your cheapest spell is gust for 1 mana. However with the ashes/bones of your original self, traveling with gust is a manaless endeavor as it regens automatically.

to the mountains for a small snack now huehueheuehuh
>>
You feel your bones move... the ones now embedded inside you as you tap into more of your latent potential.. the potential of all the hideous creatures you've devoured...

Your mind expands and you feel a crackle of power as a new vein runs through your body.. one that is old and ripe with magic... It originates from the shards of your bones implanted within your body and branches out from there...

You feel the power flow wondefully even as the oldest forces of this world seem to more readily bend to your call.

A mist sets upon the docks in which you stand, and your probing senses reach out into the town, yet then retract as you feel the gentle push of air across the land.

The dirt trudgers of the Western mountains... you'll find them....

You open your wings and expend the mana little mana necessary to call it to your aid in the form of a tailwind.

You are upon the mountains by 3:00.

You see that much of the mountains are still covered in snow from the avalanche, despite the summer.

A river has been made from the melt, following the road through the pass... it will be utterly ruined...

Oh... THe avalanche, this is where your fall truly began.. a bad gargoyle.. a very bad gargoyle would never dare to endanger its people... They could starve without the supply from Evidas...

They would eat each other if they ran out of food... Oh how the thought excites you... Fathers biting into their daughters, sons into their mothers...

You had a mother once, she loved you until the plague took her, at least that's what you had been told.

After the Masons took you in, it wasn't long before you learned that the Black Plague was caused by a demon with the aim to damn as many people as possible to an untimely death.

It was also then that your first demon took root... The demon called Wrath... One of the precursors of many more to come...

It was you that put the sword in the stone.
>>
You howl out into the cool night air, smelling out the possible fear of the gnomes... yet you attract the attention of a familiar black creature...

The Shadow of Evidas descends upon you!

Delivering a gout of flames to blind you, the black Gargoyle entangles itself with you, forcing the two of you on a long fall down, the masterpiece clawing futiley into your dense marble flesh at first, only for its claws to ignite and begin doing very real damage... it's not your concern really.. she's a beautiful piece,.. the very personification of a black demon... Ruby eyes burning and the mad rage she employs seeking to tear you limb from limb... This is what Gargoyles are made for... Murder..

Why did Marble never see that?

"You!" The creature shrieks. Why yes, me.

"Begone from my territory!" It continues, I don't see your name upon it.

"I've told you once, I'll tell you a second, and I'll kill you the third!" I'm afraid after growing so bored, I'd kill myself before she did.

The creature disengages upon impact and you slowly rise, smiling the whole time at the murderous art," My, my, what have we here.. It's so good to see a friend so near. What a greeting shall I give in return, a flurry of flame I received with such burns."

Well, if we're coherent enough, and still give a semblance of a fuck, then it'd be nice to ask her to help take out Manse before the demons spill into her territory.

Or we can just act like a looney bastard and ask to eat the gnomes. Not really excited about fightin' her to the death, but I wonder if we could do it.
>>
>>25212052

That Manse is going to summon / turn our people into or however that works.
>>
>>25211914
Tell her of Manse's intent to start a war. That we thought she should be informed given the disruptions it might cause. Also tell her that she looks beautiful with such hungry rage, and that if she would like to dance we are quite willing to have such a lovely partner. By the way, what kind of teeth do gnomes have (smile!).
>>
>>25211914

"Have I ever told you that fireballs really bring out your eyes?"
Then smile really big. Joker smile

You shift your body back and forth, humming a little haunting melody that you picked up from Genevieve... it lack any magic... however it's still... intriguing to you.

In time with the melody, you speak to the Obsidian Gargoyle before you, your voice, a song," Eyes of ruby burning bright, from your fires they catch the most exquisite light... Have I ever told you that?" You perform a box step, holding your arms out into the air, as though holding a partner.

The Wrathful Gargoyle snarls at you," What did you say?! What is wrong with you... child... Have the monsters whispered into your mind? The demons finally make their claim over your body?" She holds her claws together and an orb of pure red flames forms between them.

You simply smile, and smile simple.

"A demon dances within the dark, could war be the consequence of a wandering lark? My people, they require aid with this lady of Manse... It is by chance that she would settle a score... Between Demon and Fae, and perhaps forever more.."

You stop suddenly, and regard the Shadow of Evidas once mores,"Eyes of ruby burning bright, from your fires they catch the most exquisite light... Have I ever told you that?"

Your grinning smile goes wide, displaying the pearly white Ivoriess of the Teeth Lady.

The Shadow of Evidas seems taken aback now, snuffing the concentrated flames.

"You are.. quite mad aren't you... yet there is something to your words... The regent threatens her people?"

You usher a bow, and then leap throw the distance, talking the barely humanoid Gargoyle by her hands and leading her in dance, though somewhat forcefully.. You hear a low rumbling growl the entire time.

You speak through her disapproval," The Seal of a Solemn Man... Will usher in the demons of another land. For this I have no plan, though I'd hope you'd understand, and perhaps together, we could end a war before it's grand."
>>
The Gargoyle goes silent and follows along with your steps. You wonder if it knows the truth yet.. that it was a human... As the two of you go on, you will the snowmelt into a gentle mist... and soon raise it up into something of a Deluge.. damning any attempts of flames, and increasing the melt of that snow.

The Shadow of Evidas eventually speaks to you after pulling away from your antics," The sun will be rising soon. I will meet you the next night to see these things you speak of... should you be lying, I will melt you and your pedestal for this insult."

You snap your jaws upon the air, yet you hold your tongue with a smile plastered over your face... joke's on her... it's already gone... But she can't know that.. she can't ever know...

The Black Gargoyle takes her leave upon the night-winds...

Perhaps you could return to the current task?

Time is 3:45 a.m.

Goddamn. Eating the Lady of Teeth and losing our marbles was the best choice. We need our sanity back, but..... I LOVE Crazy Rhyming Angel.

We really should be trying to break out of the maddness somehow... but they did swing pickaxes at us...

Why in this world do we need our sanity back? Angelo is much more interesting now, don't you agree?

You laugh out loud into the crying night, a high point in your cackling eliciting an uncalled for flash of lightning... It seems the rain's become something more.. though it was not your intention...

With the rain running over your Marble form, you marvel and wonder if there could ever be more...

You had sworn to protect so many... Yet that was... Angel... not you...

You were a Mason.. you made Gargoyles to destroy such monsters...

Monsters to kill monsters.. that's the truth that no mason had cared to utter... and then the final act of any mason... to chop off their hands or make themselves into a gargoyle.

The most fitting fate for those that made monsters... scourges to all beings in the land should they go mad...

Scourges to all things with souls... power... family...

Marble was the first Family you'd seen in a long while. . . Speaking of family...

You've got a gnome family to relieve of their teeth.

You lurch with a powerful gust through the mountains, to where you had last seen the gnomes, hiding up in their pitiful little cave.

They swing a pickaxe at you. They deserve this.

After landing a few times to check the earth out, you discover tunnels, very small ones running throughout the mountains... this could be tricky. . .

That is, if you couldn't sense their life...

You zip to the closest cave entrance you see and enter, yet you see no gnomes.. despite sensing them so closely...

You examine the caven and see holes too small for your body to go through... It seems that they're smarter than they look... There are little Badger holes here... and they'd certainly not be coming out to greet you...

Maybe we should start calming down. Or search for demons.

Head home. Look for snacks on the way. When we get home, do a wide perimeter sweep, again looking for delicious entities to eat.
>>
>>25213113
Rhyme at them, rhyme like you've never rhymed before.
>>
>>25213113
OK now I'm fully on the crazy train. No need for sanity when ya got TEEF.

Also try our Voice of Sin and draw the little buggers out.
>>
The Gnomes slept softly in their homes
but then the monster came to see;
so they hid in their holes
played true to their roles

And such cowardly vermin they are.

So swing your pics
But do try to be quick,
or on your teeth I shall dine
,and like,
your souls, also mine.

Or something. Gotta rhyme at them

Voice of sin was not purchased.
Do you mean to eat into the holes...?

>>25213228
Angel could rhyme like he never has before...
>>
>>25213343
And just now realizing how bad that was. Owell.
>>
You place yourself against the badger-sized holes of the small earth Fae and whisper a haunting rhyme into their lair...

"The Gnomes slept softly in their homes
yet then an angel with teeth;
so they hid in their holes
played true to their roles

And such cowardly vermin they be-ith.

So swing on with your picks
Dig deeper through the thick,
or on your bones I shall dine
,and like,
your souls, also be mine."

Upon your conclusion, you snap your jaws at the opening a few times, causing the snapping shut of teeth to fill echo within. You smell the gnomes' fear...

Yet you cannot have at them... Begrudgingly, you leave the things alone, spreading your wings... and remembering your first Gargoyle... Not much to think about that one... it almost killed you...

With the power of gust, you head back to your small town of Hearthson, that could very well, and soon be upon the advent of destruction...

(Ending here for tonight... There will be some chances for Angel to rregain sanity in the near future, though residual madness may still occur... THe Rhyming is indeed a trait of the Lady of Teeth... Fae Nobles yend to speak with rhyming speech.

Next thread: Tuesday at 23:00. Maybe earlier maybe later.. I might set up a twitter in the meantime... Will be posted upon the discusssion.

Good night all!)

I cannot tell you how much I hope we fail those rolls, I'm loving the new direction this quest has taken. The broken angel somehow bound to protect his people, even while he strains agains the role. The way we are unintentionally furthering Manse's goals. It's captivating and rarely seen on /tg/.

Anyway, thank you for running this Stone Mason, I've thoroughly enjoyed this night.

Wow, thanks for that.

I was getting so tired last night I just fell into nbed... I knew for sure the quality would begin to drop if I stubbornly continued...

But yes, right now at his core Arthur/Angel means well, though his mental state is so very... broken...

Trying to become the man that he was, staying who he's been, and all the creatures within vying for control in that vortex, along with even more creatures being added to that mix. . .

Hell, if it was me, I'd likely lose.
>>
>>25218036
It sounds like Arthur isn't someone who paticulary cares about helping people, but instead he was about destroying monsters.
