Or, "Jesus, why do so many good quests also use this timeslot?"

You are Lord William Bordain, Lord of Morderengrad and the Norther Valley. Some have taken to calling you the Iron Lord, as your wealth flows from the arms and armor you sell, and your demeanor is as unflinching and cold as castle-forged steel. Those who oppose you are forged into your next weapons, or crushed and tossed to the winds.

Two years you brooded on the slaying of the Targaryen children, the deed that won you your Lordship, while your lands fell to bandits and saboteurs. Within the last two seasons, you have quelled these troubles, and made your lands safe again. You are betrothed to the Lady Alyssa Tollett, and will one day be Lord of Grey Glen in addition to your other holdings.

Having recently uncovered and defeated a plot against you by servants in a nearby House, You've turn your eye to a more prolonged campaign: your wedding to Alyssa Tollett. Having accidentally thrown the grandest wedding not directly involving a royal family in the last thirty years, you found yourself besieged with wellwishers from around the Seven Kingdoms, with the King himself at your wedding. You were just showered with gifts by your one-time teacher Tywin Lannister, who presented you with a terrifying mission: To make yourself the Hand of the King, whether officially or by example.

You have little time, however, to ponder this request, when you must ready yourself to meet the last of your great guests.

>>25184770
This wedding is going to be nuts.
>>
>>25184885

I think we should go with Tywin's plan, but do it to Jon Arryn gently and fuck over Tywin when we have the right position.
>>
>>25184841
From me, or others?

I've found it takes a while for my players to jump in.

Then again, I've never been running against Diarca before.
>>
>>25184908
I agree, we want Tywin to think we're working for him but really, we'll just continue with things as planned.
>>
>>25184936
Others

And I don't know who Diarca is, though I did see that name briefly when flipping through the catalog.
>>
>>25184936
Don't worry, Diarca is a slooow updater. Steps out a lot. Gotta be patient to follow Totemist Quest.
>>
>>25184940

With us agreeing to his plan, are we more ambitious than Karban or what?
>>
>>25184967
No fucking kidding, I think he's fallen asleep a few times and had threads pick up in the morning. Going on for days like that.
>>
>>25184770
Welp, let's hopefully not get poisoned by this guy.

Or have him not kill us with the spears we made for him.
>>
>>25184975
As I recall, he has a medication issue.
It's just weird, running against quests that I personally enjoy so much.

>>25184770

You can tell when he enters , even before Korbis announces him. The murmuring in the crowd grows louder, then quiets in a wave before him.

“Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne!”

The prince does not hurry into the room. His pace is just shy of an insolent saunter across your throne room. His riding boots, jet black and ending high on his calves, steadily snap against your floor. Click. Clack. Click. Clack. His stance is unhurried, unthreatened, and uncaring to the eyes upon him. He strides forward, to the base of the dais your chair sits upon.

Finally, he stands before you. The Red Viper of Dorne. Prince Oberyn. Uncle to two children slain by your hand three years ago. He stands, and turns his head, his long black hair loosely stirring from his face, as a tanned hand brushes it clear. His smile is friendly and open, but his eyes give the lie of it. You have seen Tywin Lannister gaze on Aerys mistreating his son. Your eyes have seen the Mountain’s in his full blood rage. These eyes hold no anger, as those did. They hold hate. Cold, poisonous hate. It is clear that Oberyn Martell has not forgotten the blood debt you owe him.

“Congratulations, my lord Bordain, on rising so far from your lowly station before. Truly, it is as they say, that those unafraid of a little dirty work can make their way.”

>Respond?
>>
>>25185137
Say nothing, raise eyebrow
>>
>>25185137
"Indeed, all it takes is ambition. Now, if you wouldn't mind I'd like to go against tradition and offer you a gift on my wedding day." Then motion for the spear(s) to be brought forth.
>>
>>25185137
No real good way to respond towards killing his niece and nephew. Did we kill Elia or was that someone else this time around?

"I'm sure you would know of such things Lord Martell. Some men must do what others can or will not.

Thank you for gracing me with the honor of your presence for my humble wedding."
>>
>>25185253

"They have no names. Though might I suggest, my Lord, of the names Ellia and Rhaenys? A reminder, for the event you obviously still hate me dearly for."

Be nice, polite yet rather blunt.
>>
>>25185179
This looks good.
>>
>>25185333

Suggesting the names seems kinda tacky and probably wouldn't go real well. What are we planning to do with Oberyn?
>>
>>25185333
Uh, wouldn't this pretty much provoke him?
>>
>>25185253
>>25185333

Fuck that forever.

You can't reason with a viper made of elemental hatred.

If you show weakness, he'll strike.
>>
>>25185355
He already hates us anyway.

Other than stabbing us outright or poisoning our food supply, I don't see much he could feel about us rather than what we know.
>>
>>25185377

What weakness?
>>
>>25185394
You don't think trying to buy him off won't piss him off into killing us right here and now?

>>25185429
To be fair, we are a beast in combat, and him trying to shank us in one of the largest weddings around wouldn't be good for him.
>>
>>25185456
We're good, but not that good. Oberyn could kick our ass in ten different ways without getting a scratch on him.
>>
>>25185446
Honestly the spear thing was a stupid idea to start with.
>>
>>25185446
I would stand up, meet his glare, and say something like "Lord Martell. Welcome to Morderengrad. I trust you'll find my home to your... liking." Icy stare, stone faced.
>>

Still don't want to play kissass to a guy who came here to specifically be a douche.

Yeah this sounds good.

Don't back down.
>>
>>25185507
I'm not saying to play kissass, I'm was just saying that us being a beast in combat isn't really quite true in comparison to him.

Posted this in two of the threads, but it was always at the very end where I doubt anyone actually saw it, so posting again! This time people would actually get a chance to see it.

Anyway, this reminded me of Bordain. What does everybody else think? Some resemblance? None? Looks good? Horrible? What?
>>
>>25185567
Well we're a bit less vampiric, and I think our hair is a manageable length, but overall it fits more or less.
>>
>>25185544
He's probably already trying to posion us, and I wouldn't be suprised if he's trying to goad us into a duel.

Fuuuuck now we HAVE to play nice guy, just to spite him.
>>
>>25185578

Well yeah we're not a vampire of course...

But just something about the overall vibe and dread reputation made me think of Vlad Tepes.

And at some point I came across a picture of the Count from Hellsing that I really liked, too, so there you go.
>>
>>25185586

I'm thinking more or less the same thing. Perhaps the dialogue in >>25185321
might be good?
>>
>>25185559
Page said we killed both Targaryan kids, but our memories don't have us killing a baby so...
>>
>>25185616

Page also said that Gregor killed Aegon and we cracked open the back of Rhaenys' head.
>>
>>25185321
I think the first line might be too provocative.

Maybe say something like "It's a dirty world we live in"?
>>
>>25185137

Awkward silence for a bit then say, "I don't suppose it would make much of a difference to know which ones I killed, would it?"
>>
>>25185629
I believe the official story is that Aegon ran away from the mountain, and then we caught him and killed him.
>>
>>25185616
Bordain replaces Amory Lorch and kill Rhaenys, the other kids were done by Gregor.
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/23600893/#p23603028
>>
>>25185651
But I don't think Page knew that Aegon was an infant, and thus can't run, even from Gregor Clegane.
>>
>>25185321

I think I like the wording on the second half of one. "Some men must do what others can or will not."
Like >>25185640 said, the first line (the "I'm sure you would know of such things" part I mean) seems a bit provocative. But the second part I like.
>>
>>25185137

You there, Page?
>>
>>25185640

Maybe just the last bit would be OK?

>Thank you for gracing me with the honor of your presence for my humble wedding.

Need to handle this with grace and aplomb. Or just politeness, even.
>>
>>25185682
I think an approaching Gregor could inspire an infant, or even a quadriplegic, to get up and run.
>>
>>25185695
Yeah that works.
>>
>>25185714
Add to that the whole 'Secret removal of Aegon probably' means Someone had to kill an 'Aegon'

Varys could arrange matters, with everyone else being none the wiser.
>>
>>25185730
So maybe we just killed a kid we were told was Aegon?
>>
>>25185686
Sorry, looked like you guys were locked in a discussion, so I stepped over to the kitchen to wash dishes.

As to the Aegon/Elia/Rhaenys thing:
I wrote several times you were noted for the slaying of the Targaryen children. This is, honestly, because I forgot The Mountain canonically killed Aegon.

So, my solution is: in this continuity, Aegon was 2 or 3 at the time of the Sacking of King's Landing.

My apologies.

>>25185722
>>25185695
Cool, I'll take these ones, Adn throw in the spears, because you decided to gift them last thread.

>>25185730
It is worth noting that it took you an hour or two to find the young boy.
>>
>>25185760

So long as we don't suggest names for the spears, I guess gifting is OK.

Unless we want to discuss that a bit more?

>>
>>25185791
No names, he wouldn't accept a name we gave them anyway. But if he's going to kill us he may as well use the best steel, outside of Valyrian steel, in Westeros.
>>
>>25185760
So, as a refresher.

Elia we found hiding and convinced her we were there to help. We swallowed our pride and drove a pick into the girl's skull from behind. Then we spent the next two hours looking for Aegon after we hear Clegane lost him? And probably heard what else he was doing, and needed to get away from that bedroom.

We found the 2-3 year old, and, Snapped the lad's neck.

>The only good that came of this, was the children didnt suffer, nor this Elia suffer being raped by a man with her son's blood and brains covering his hands.
>She was just regular raped.
>>
>>25185880

We killed Rhaenys, not Ellia.
>>
>>25185921
Typo. Sorry.
>>
>>25185760

We're giving the spears, no names, and we're being polite yet strong to Oberyn.

Write! Write so that we don't have to argue about this shit anymore.
>>
>>25185760

You rise, sighing.
"It is a dirty world, Prince Oberyn. we do what me must in these dark times. Dark wings, Dark words; dark times, dark swords."
"It is days like these we hope to bring a little light into the world. Thank you for gracing my humble wedding with your presence, and the sun of Dorne."
You gesture to a nearby servant, who brings you forth a box.
"If I may flout tradition a touch, I had a gift for you, Prince Oberyn."

The servant presents the two spears to Oberyn. They are beautiful weapons, both predominantly red in hue, one with gold chasing, and the second adorned with black, you think the subtle nod enough to convey their purpose.
"I have not had many shipments of the steel we forge here sent to the Kingdom of Dorne, and so I thought it a fitting gift. Forged by my household Smith, I present you these twin spears, in honor of your distant home of Sunspear. May they slay your enemies well. For my steel is without equal."
You lock eyes with him as you utter the last line.
After a beat, you continue.

"Please, enjoy yourself, and make yourself at home in my lands."

You nod, and return to your seat. The dismissal is clear, but not stated, allowing him to respond as he chooses.

He glances at the spears, and then to you.

"A fine gift, my lord. I shall make a point of trying them in the coming tourney. Mayhap I can steal your Queen of Love and Beauty."
>>
>>25186020
About as good as can be expected.
>>

>>
>>25186020
>"Mayhap I can steal your Queen of Love and Beauty."

...

I'm trying to think of a way to point out he said 'mayhaps' and a somewhat veiled threat likening him to Rhaegar and saying "Look what happened to him when he did that." without sounding obvious, evil or a cunt.
>>
>>25186020
You know, he didn't stab us in the face, all in all a good meeting.
>>
>>25186020
"My steel will serve you well, so now i've one more thing to worry about."

"Ha."

Now, Let's find Renly and Jamie.
>>
>>25186153
>evil
To be fair, that would be in character.
>>
>>25186180
I don't really consider William evil, more like forced to make a tough decision and constantly haunted by his past.

Then again, everyone is the hero in their own story.
>>
>>25186178
I don't know, hopefully since we gave him some nice spears to kill us with, he won't feel the need to poison us.
>>
>>25186209
Hah, nope.

>He's already going to try and kill us no matter what we do, being polite to him won't stay his hand any.

We're on his permanant shit-list, we need a way to dispose of him, violently, or otherwise.
>>
>>25186208
Our house rolled Villainous during creation. We've got the reputation for being a scary bad guy, and it'd be easier to use that to our advantage than it would to pull a heel turn face. I say we roll with it.
>>
>>25186267
He's currently protected under guest-right though.

So the only thing we can do is try to live through the wedding.
>>
>>25186020

You have present;y NOT been murdered by Oberyn Martell. You have welcomed everyone worth inviting to the events. NOW, WHAT. WILL. YOU. DO?

Options
>head into town, interact with Smallfolk
> Hobnob with visiting lords
>Check on your fiancee
>OTHER

Also, let's clarify something I forgot to make plain:
Do you see this as being "Tourney for a week, then the wedding to finish it off" or "Wedding now, week of Tourney to celebrate"?

I've been presuming the former, but if enough think the latter, we'll go that route.
>>
>>25186317
Well yeah.

I mean our goal is to dance on Tywin and Robert's graves.

But we don't have to be rude.
>>
>>25186342
The former, the Wedding is the culmination of everything. Then after the wedding there's some more partying of course. Because party!

>Check on your fiancee

We ought to see how our blushing bride is getting on.
>>
>>25186153

Yeah... How do you bring up Rhaegar without being crass about it?

And, I mean... it IS a good point. That this sort of thing can cause a boatload of trouble in Game of Thrones.

Rhaegar and Lyanna. Jaime and Cersei. Petyr's obsession with Cat. Lisa's obsession with Petyr.

Man. Loving the wrong people can really fuck things over in Game of Thrones.
>>
>>25186342
>Check on your fiancee
Then if she's okay, we go interact with the smallfolk. (Give the fiancee the knife first so that if Oberyn tries something physical he'll get at least one cut)

Wedding Now, week of Tourney to celebrate.
>>
>>25186342

Hobnob with visiting lords or check on fiancée.

Either way, I'd rather politicize with nobility than to go into town.

I mean, why would we head into town? Presumably we do that sort of thing occasionally anyway, as this is our land.

On the other hand, we can't always hobnob with nobility.

Plus, maybe we'd see an early chance to befriend Jon Arryn or something?
>>
>>25186450
>maybe we'd see an early chance to befriend Jon Arryn or something?

Oooh, good point!
>>
can't stop thinking about what I think Oberyn would have done next,
>casually take his leave
>Go back to own quarters

>Return and check out how well the spears throwing abilities are

>>25186342

>>
>>25186378
>>25186366

Though I think we should check in with our maester as well.

Like he said he wants to make us great? Well then the most powerful man in Westeros wants us to essentially run the country?
>>
>>25186342

Check on fiancee then hobnob. Let's see what's going on in the region and beyond.
>>
>>25186498
I can see us and Jaime having a lot in common.

"Kingslayer."

"Murderer of Children."

"Good to see you again. It's been a while."

"Yup, sure has."
>>
>>25186342
I support tourney first, mostly because that gives us a good excuse to avoid entering and having Oberyn 'accidentally' killing us in a joust or something. Also do we have anyone representing our house in the tournaments? Would be interesting to see a bloodsmith in the melee or something.
>>
>>25186553

Last time there was a "joke" about the 3 Game of Thrones PCs walking into a bar.

Can anybody think of a 3rd person to join Jaime and Bordain in a bar, and what they'd gripe about?

Jon Snow, Commander of the Night's Watch maybe? Tyrion?
>>
>>25186596
The Hound?
>>
>>25186596
Jon's only like, 5-6 now or something.

>Now Two for tourney first.

You go to check on your bride-to-be, hoping to not find her pinned to the walls with your freshly gifted spears. You find her talking with Lord Baelish of the Fingers. At your approach, your lady excuses herself from his presence, and crosses to you.

>What say/do?

>>
>>25186729
Warn her to stay away from Prince Oberyn and to refuse any food/drink of anyone from their house and Dornes in general for the duration, and to spend as little time in their company.
>>
>>25186700
Pick her up in a hug, spin her around once or twice, and give her a smooch on the lips.

"Have you been enjoying your time so far my dear? I'm sure you've been meeting all sorts of wonderful people.

Have you found any other strapping young knights to challenge me for your amusement darling? Because I must warn you there's already a surfeit of those who wish to kill me here already."

Then greet Lord Baelish, thank him for coming to our wedding, be polite, no reason not to.
>>
>>25186814

And give her the knife with instructions to use it if her life is in danger.

As well as to cut the face of every cunt that tries hurting her.
>>
>>25186845
We've already given her a knife, it was the first gift we gave her.
>>
>>25186768
>>25186829

Let's not bring that up.

Especially after Oberyn made that crack about stealing the Queen of Love and Beauty. It just seems a poor omen.
>>
>>25186845
Hell, why don't we assign her a couple of Bloodsmiths on rotation as a guard for the duration?

Also let's make sure their captain is always besides us for the duration, might as well play up the reputation for 'hard as steel.'
>>
>>25186845
>>25186864
We need to maybe get one of the Painted Dog women to advise her on how that kind of knife is best used.

Because using it on yourself for "honor" is a sucker's game, and I want to make sure our fiancee knows it.

>>25186700

She rolls her eyes and sighs, turning to Lord Baelish. "One boy makes a bad decision, and I must hear of it the better part of a year."
Petyr smiles.
"Your husband to be is renowned for not letting go of things, even when they hurt him, my lady."

You smile at the young lord. "My lord Baelish, enjoying our festivities?"
"Well enough, Lord Bordain. I shall no doubt drink myself to death if I have to much more of your wine, or truly, any wine meant for you."

It's clear Baelish is aware that the Viper is present and you have parted on less than amicable terms.

"Oh, that reminds me, dear," you interject, turning to your bride to be. "Perhaps no Dornish wines this week. Or wine from Dornish men. Or Things that have been touched by Prince Oberyn or his men, hmm?""
Your fiancee nods her understanding.

Not to mention we should probably avoid anything that could lead to 'accidental' death as long as Oberyn is here.

You have 4 ranks in Fighting.
You have 3 in Animal Handling.
So, not AS good, but you have definitely studied it.

Yes and no. For the younger knights, it can be seen as a "last hurrah". Those who do are pretty much expected to crown their bride the Queen of Love and Beauty.

>>25187181
"And since I just recently gave Oberyn a gift, and wanted to ensure you were not slighted, thinking that I thought him a fairer lass."
You produce from your doublet a finely wrought silver mirror. You explain:
"No doubt you're meeting some fantastic people. But should you need time to reflect on things, or if you need a touch of time alone..."

You show her how the knife slides from the mirror.

"Use this if you feel your life in danger."

She nods again.

>Anything else, to your fiancee or to Littlefinger?
>>
>>25187181

It will be a sore wedding without any drinking. We should make sure that a sealed case of wine is brought for us later on.

>>25187173

Yeah about that, the host and the groom (In both cases that's us) doesn't take part of the joust or the melee.
>>
>>25187335
Yeah, stay on the ground floor, have a guards by at all time, have a food taster for the lord and lady's meals, be Canadian-tier polite to everyone at all times, avoid horseback riding, hunting, swimming and other activities for the duration.

What else am I missing?
>>
>>25187374
Is Littlefinger the master of coin yet?

Because if not, we have no in-character reason to care about Littlefinger, or to slight him. Just make sure to call him Lord Baelish and we're good.
>>
>>25187374
I feel like there is something we should discuss with littlefinger... but I can't recall what it might be.
>>
>>25187374
>>25187462

Ask if we could talk about the business venture he wants us in on at a later time. Perhaps during a night around the tourney.
>>
>>25187462
He did mention that he had something he wanted to discuss with us. Though it might not be the right time and place to start littlefinger-scheming with our future wife present.
>>
>>25187460
He is a known friend of Lysa Tully, wife of Jon Arryn. He is the new Master of Customs at Gulltown.

>>25187462
He mentioned an investment opportunity last thread.

As a side note: I just checked the numbers, and we're a year older than Littlefinger, ad a year younger than Jaime.
>>
>>25187460

Even if he isn't the master of coin yet he should be in charge of customs in Gulltown. Not the name to dismiss quickly. Lets make pleasant conversion with him, while we may not drink freely our guests should be provide with twice as much drinks sent for a couple of cups and have a talk with Lord Baelish.
>>
Is Gregor coming to the wedding? We could always arrange a... meeting between him and Martell.

Which isn't to say Oberyn will become our best buddy, but he might not hate us as much if we can give him the man who raped and killed his sister. Of course, we had no idea it would happen...
>>

Well fuck, we're always ready to make more money, and if it fails it's only a mild setback!

>>

>He is the new Master of Customs at Gulltown.

If going through Gulltown is something we need to do for shipping our steel, we should make friends with Baelish.

As well as maybe get him to help us find anything strange that might be coming to our shores.

(I know he's a slimy cunt, but I don't think Bordain would know that)
>>
>>25187374
"On them, go for the throat or gut, if you use it on yourself for 'honor' I will be very disappointed."

Give her another kiss.

Talk to Littlefinger about the promising venture he mentioned earlier, our soon to be wife is part of our life now, we shouldn't keep her from this.

>>

>"On them, go for the throat or gut, if you use it on yourself for 'honor' I will be very disappointed."

Yes.

Also add a little bit where if she decides to geld them instead that we'll be rather amused. And horrified.

(But say that last bit with a bit of fake, humorous fear in our voice)
>>
>>25187687
>ask the Painted Dogs how it's meant to be used"

Are there any around that are available?
>>
>>25187879
I meant for later, but probably, since we didn't tell them not to come to our wedding.
>>
>>25187879
Probably, they're our people so they ought to be having fun at the festivities. Most of them are with the commoners but the chiefs and Luuk are probably around the castle area.
>>
>>25187615
A lot of seconds on this.

"The blade's for them, dear. Throat or gut. Geld them if you want to amuse and terrify your husband to be. Using it on yourself to save your "honor" wastes so much for saving."

Your wife gives the knife a quick, familiar twirl, and says she knows what she's doing.

Great, Luuk's giving your wife knife lessons.

You turn to Lord Baelish.
"Do you wish to speak of the venture you proposed earlier, my lord Baelish?"
"Certainly, my lord Bordain. And as your wife gelds your foes, so shall we gild our friends."

He launches into a fairly thorough description of events that essentially boils down to the idea of you, Belmore, Snakewood, and Corbray all pay to dredge the river. This lets you all move your goods to Gulltown by river and sea, rather than needing to send some of your larger loads by wagon. So you can have a shorter turn around on sending the weapons and getting paid for them.

>Thoughts?
>Ask wife?
>>
>>25187990
I don't really see any downsides.
>>
>>25187990
That doesn't sound bad.
"I presume we split the financial burden equally amongst us, or will we simply pay to have the river dredged through each of our own lands?"
>>
>>25187990
>Ask wife?

Seems fine to me. What do you think?
>>
>>25187990
"How much have you gone by the other lords with this, or am i the first?

I can see your point though, a good river running through all out lands would give us no small amount of profit, as well as bringing more trade to Gulltown, explains your stake in this. It would be one hell of an endevor though, could take many years."
>>
>>25187990
>>25188044
Ask Littlefinger what he gains from this venture, listen to his response, then ask the wife.
>>
>>25187990
It does look good, we ship heavy loads of steel around so making that cheaper is a lot nicer.

"Who are we liable to annoy with this move? What is the expected cost of the venture? What have the Lords Belmore, Snakewood, and Corbray heard of this deal?

How did you get involved in this? What do you stand to gain Lord Baelish? Last I checked your lands were not known for their exports."
>>
>>25187990

Hmm, not a bad idea. We should take further advantage of it better if we improve our port into a Harbor.
>>
>>25187990
Seems good, although we should pay an equal share in the venture. Unless taking a larger share of the expenses mean that we will receive favorable terms in taxes.
>>25188096
I'm guessing increased traffic through his port and the taxes that bring.

Also we need to introduce Luuk to Robert for shits and giggles.
>>
>>25188122
He's handling trade in Gulltown, if he can bring Bells (Belmore), Battlements (Us) and Balls (Ser Lyn Corbray) to Gulltown he only stands to profit.
>>
Another thing to ask, is whether Lord Belmore is going to be able to put up with us.

We... probably aren't very popular with him, to say the least.
>>
>>25188160
Yeah, Gulltown is going to see a massive uptake in trade, which will quickly turn into increased revenue frome tarrifs.
>>
>>25188160
>>25188178

If so and the other lord have already agreed, then we can't really afford not to. Ask what the others have said or if he's spoken to them. If not, tell him to return with their words on the deal. Use socializing as an excuse.
>>
>>25188193

We should try to normalize our relations with him, we have a lot to win by being business partners.
>>
>>25187261

All of my money to see this happen. We should ask Robert if it's true that an Arbor lord unhorsed him at the Tourney of Vines all those years ago.

>>25188069
>>25188080
>>25188122
>>25188122
Your mind quickly seizes to the potential monies to be had, and fires off several questions for Littlefinger, which, to his credit, he answers quickly and reasonably.
Yes, he has spoken to the other lords.
The financial burden would fall equally on all of you, as for instance, you gain more proportionally than Belmore, but Belmore has more river to dredge.
(Littlefinger does not that, in all likelihood, the devices and metal needed for this venture will be bought from you by the other lords, slightly offsetting your costs.)
Few will be hugely annoyed, though some of the interior houses will find their inns less well paid. The cost is difficult to predict without getting more understanding of the river and the regions, but if you all seem interested, he can get better numbers within a few moon's time.
Lord Baelish expects that faster trade means more trade, thus more tariffs, thus more wealth. Further, if he makes 4 great lords more money, he supposes he makes 4 great lords more friendly.

After mulling this over, you turn to your wife, and ask if she has any thoughts.

She asks what "dredging" is.

>Answer her
>Let Petyr Explain
>Decide to not get her input
>OTHER
>>
>>25188347
...Ask Petyr to explain.

I mean she's certainly not stupid, but I guess booklearning wasn't a priority for her education.
>>

"Well honey, when a shovel and a riverbed love each other very, very much..."
>>

Petyr's more likely to try his best to sell this. We would probably be more neutral as we do not, yet, have a stake in this.
>>
>>25188347

Answer her and request that Baelish send us better numbers with a few moon's time. So we might have a better understanding of the costs involved, but we are still very interested in the potential.
>>
>>25188347
Let Petyr explain. Its his idea and we might get it wrong. Also, I think she knows and wants to get some additional information that might normally not get loose.
>>
>>25188347
>Let Petyr Explain

It's his project, let him explain some of the details.

Tell Lord Baelish that we're very interested in the proposition and are would like those numbers.
>>
>>25188407
Ha.
>>
>>25188407
Do this, then ask Petyr to explain it to her.
>>
>>25188397
As a point of order: Dredging wasn't very common before the 1600's. Your character only has a vague understanding of how it works, amounting to "drag the mud out to make the river deeper."

I got three Petyrs to two self explains.

Petyr explains that it would use iron posts dragged by boats to tear out the mud at the base of the river, making the river deeper, so larger ships can sail in it.
She nods carefully, and asks "Where does the mud go?"
"It is washed away by the force of the river, my lady."

She thinks on this for a beat, then says:
"So, we are to tear up the bottom of the river, where crabs and river lobster hide, along with the worms and bugs the fish of the river eat, and then fill the fish's water with all the slime and sand from the riverbed.
Which seems to me like it cannot be healthy or good for any fishing harvest from our river, or the sea near our river. Am I right in this, My lords?"
>>
>>25188602
"My lady brings up a good point. What effect is this venture likely to have on the local fish market? This could be a problem for our towns and villages that rely on fish to sustain themselves.
>>
>>25188602
Dredging can create disturbance to aquatic ecosystems, often with adverse impacts. In addition, dredge spoils may contain toxic chemicals that may have an adverse effect on the disposal area; furthermore, the process of dredging often dislodges chemicals residing in benthic substrates and injects them into the water column.

The activity of dredging can create the following principal impacts to the environment:

Release of toxic chemicals (including heavy metals and PCB) from bottom sediments into the water column.
Short term increases in turbidity, which can affect aquatic species metabolism and interfere with spawning.
Secondary effects from water column contamination of uptake of heavy metals, DDT and other persistent organic toxins, via food chain uptake and subsequent concentrations of these toxins in higher organisms including humans.
Secondary impacts to marsh productivity from sedimentation
Tertiary impacts to avifauna which may prey upon contaminated aquatic organisms
Secondary impacts to aquatic and benthic organisms' metabolism and mortality
Possible contamination of dredge spoils sites

The nature of dredging operations and possible environmental impacts cause the industry to be closely regulated and a requirement for comprehensive regional environmental impact assessments with continuous monitoring. The U.S. Clean Water Act requires that any discharge of dredged or fill materials into "waters of the United States," including wetlands, is forbidden unless authorized by a permit issued by the Army Corps of Engineers.[11] As a result of the potential impacts to the environment, dredging is restricted to licenced areas only with vessel activity monitored closely using automatic GPS systems.

Looks like she's right.

>>
>>25188602
"You do seem to be quite right my dear.

Lord Baelish, this seems like it would drastically influence the fishing along our rivers and by the sea, and perhaps harm any farmlands that are fed by the rivers.

This would lead to a number of hungry smallfolk, and hungry smallfolk tend to be angry smallfolk."
>>
>>25188602

I love you dear, I love so much. It seen Lord Baelish that the matter needs further consideration.
>>
>>25188711
Yeah that sounds good.

Like it seems as if we'd have to trade the ability to fish for the dredging, which doesn't seem as good a bargain.

Is it possible to mitigate the negative aspects if we made the process really gradual?
>>
>>25188774
Everything I'm reading says how gradual the process is makes no difference. We should have known Baelish would approach with something underhanded.

"I'm afraid my lady is right. I cannot abide hungry, angry smallfolk in my land. The matter needs further consideration, I think, my lord."

By this I meant "Let's not just go 'Nope!' to him. Let's hear him out. And if we DO decide to turn him down, let's try to have a counteroffer for some other venture or something."

Because I dunno that Petyr would just try to screw over people. Since, I mean, he would also find profit in actually making friends with powerful or up and coming lords, you know.
>>
>>25189011
I agree with this guy, the love of our life brought something up that we didn't notice, but let Baelish respond before we just shut him down, and be polite about it.

There is a beat of conversation, as you and Petyr Baelish look at each other, Petyr blinks slowly, his mind clearly grasping that yes, he supposes, fish DO live in rivers. You begin to laugh, and kiss your fiancee.

"I love you, dear. I knew there was a reason I wanted you for a wife, someone needs to do the thinking."
You turn to Lord Baelish.
"We'll need to talk about this with the other Lords. The smallfolk rely on the fish for their meals in some places, and hungry smallfolk are angry smallfolk.
I'm afraid my lady is right. I cannot abide hungry, angry smallfolk in my land. The matter needs further consideration, I think, my lord."

Petyr nods his understanding.
"I'll consult with some maesters," he says. "If we can find a way to do it safely, I will raven you at once. Starving the land was never my intent." He smiles at your fiancee. "Leave it to a Lady to keep the smallfolk in mind."
He nods his head again, almost birdlike in the bob, and departs.
TOTAL MARITAL BLISS POINTS: 10

By the way, I had 2 vote for Tourney first, and 1 for wedding first. So we're going Tourney.

NEXT: HOBNOBBING.
Do you want to bring your wife, bring your wife up to speed (vis a vis Tywin and Oberyn), target first or generalize?
Let me make that clearer.
A) Do you tell your wife about Tywin's plan and Oberyn's danger to you?
B) Do you bring her with you to talk
C) Do you look for specific people (ie Jaime, Jon Arryn) first, or just the general crowd?
>>
>>25189011
>>25189141
Agreed
>>
>>25189123
I think he planned on being the one to sell us fish.
>>
>>25189166

Inform her about Oberyn, but leave out Tywin's plan. That can wait until later. Robert is being very gracious attending, so speak to him first since he is King and then Jon Arryn. He's our liege lord, after all. Then maybe Jaime. How well do we know him?
>>
>>25189166
A. Emphasize that so far, Tywin hasn't given much of a time limit, and she should already have known that Oberyn makes us look like a mere novice in the art of hatred.

As for specific people, I'd like to get in touch with our bannermen, as well as Jon Arryn. Bringing our wife along, if she's up for it, sounds smart.
>>
>>25189166
A) Do you tell your wife about Tywin's plan and Oberyn's danger to you?
>>
>>25189166
A.) Oberyn's danger, but not much about Tywin other than he wants us as a close ally.

B.) Bring her with us. Can't hurt.

C.) Jon Arryn, though I don't mind others.
>>
>>25189166
A) Yes, she's our wife, our partner in all things, we went out of our way to get a competent one with fire in her belly and steel in her spine. Though I'm alright with putting off telling her the Tywin plans until after the wedding so she acts naturally around Robert and Jon Arryn.

B) Of course we do.

C) I would like to visit with both of those, get the important people out of the way before general hobnobbery.
>>
>>25189266
Same guy here.

Adding in King Robert. Can't believe I forgot about him.
>>
>>25189166
>Petyr blinks slowly, his mind clearly grasping that yes, he supposes, fish DO live in rivers.

This, uh... Haha, okay, this was kinda funny.

>Do you tell your wife about Tywin's plan and Oberyn's danger to you?

I figure Oberyn's danger would be relatively obvious, so we can mention that.

Tywin's plan though? Eh... If we mention it, I would prefer we leave out the.. traitorous-sounding parts of the plan. Maybe we say something like "Lord Tywin 'suggested'/'hinted' that we would want to try befriending the King's Hand."

>Do you bring her with you to talk?

Sure, why not.

Also, people might be more willing to talk to Bordain and his *wife*, than just Bordain alone as we have, eh, a reputation.

>Do you look for specific people (ie Jaime, Jon Arryn) first, or just the general crowd?

Eh I dunno.

Eventually we'd probably want to sound out Robert, Jon and Lisa Arryn, and others.
Maybe we start off by general hobnobbing? So that we get an idea of who is willing to speak to us to begin with, and so on.
>>

>TOTAL MARITAL BLISS POINTS: 10

Hey, what do Marital Bliss Points do (or mean) anything anyway? Just a general "how much you like/love your wife" sort of thing, like Affection Points? Are these an actual ASoIaF mechanics thing, or something else?
>>
>>25189379
Yeah I mean we could just phrase it as "Tywin feels as if Jon Arryn could use assistance towards being the King's Hand, and thinks me up to the task"?

Or is even that too much.

>>25189498
>>25189519
>>25189527

Fair enough. Let her know. Talk it out, if we have to. No sense just shoving information down her throat before moving on. She's smart and strong, but this a big deal. We should remind her that first impression here will pave the way for both of us to King's Landing itself.
>>
>>25189527
We're not agreeing with the plan right now, we're setting up foundations that are good no matter if we're doing it or not, the technical agreement comes afterwards sending Tywin a raven.
>>
>>25189419
Originally, I gave you a "Marital Bliss point" when you asked their fiancee about something, rather than just making a decision without her, as a joke.
You guys responded fairly enthusiastically.
The idea was just "Have enough of these, and you're marriage won't suck."
I'm thinking on giving it some more oomph, after thinking about some of the marriages in ASoIaF.
Good marriages serve as these foundations for importance/greatness: Tywin/Joanna, Ned/Catelyn, Daenarys/Drogo
While Bad marriages seems to speak to doom, death, disrespect and failure: Lysa/Arryn, Robert/Cersei. Joffrey/Fucking Anyone.
Stanins/his wife is an example of a sort of neutral ground in this.
Which actually leads to some interesting questions/ideas with Shae/Tyrion, Tysha/Tyrion, and Margaery/Renly...

Let me quickly go over the answers, and post a synthesizing reaction.
>>
>>25189729
Do we get Marital Bliss points when we are openly affectionate and loving?
>>
>>25189166
Is there anything that stops us from using big-ass rafts or something similar to transport our products downriver? They aren't supposed to be sea going vessels in the first place and I figure if we're using something broad enough we could transport a large amount of stuff on fairly shallow water.
>>
>>25189766
You get them when you:
-Listen to your wife on an important matter.
-Side with her against someone else.
-Are openly affectionate and loving, if appropriate.
-Show her attention and concern. (Sending her a raven about a decision.)
-Basically, if I think "She'd like that" or "Aw, how cute" you probably get a point.

You lose them whenever you do the reverse.
For example, had you personally explained what dredging was, you would have gotten a few more points. You had Petyr explain it, and then listened to her advice, which scored you a good bit. Had you decided you didn't need her advice before hearing it, you'd have lost points. If you disagreed with her, and argued, you may have lost points, depending on tone and phrasing.

I'm currently working on The Taming of the Shrew, so I'm on a bit of a "good foundations make good marriages" kick. Petruchio and Katherina (in my eyes) so clearly understand and love each other that they'll do great, while Lucentio and Bianca might have some problems.

NONE OF WHICH IS QUEST STUFF
>>
>>25189964
Yeah, but Taming of the Shrew might be my favorite Shakespeare play, so it's alright, and it's relevant.

Basically it's be loving, caring, and respectful towards our future life partner. Treat her as an equal.
>>
>>25190003
We won't have any problems with that.
>>
>>25190034

Not really.

>>
>>25190003
I personally think the entirety of Kate and Petruchio's relationship can be summarized in Act 2, Scene 1, where it's established that Petruchio, for all he treats her like shit, is the only one who LISTENS to her. or compliments her.

BACK TO QUEST.

You decide to take your bride to be aside for a moment, and tell her of your day.
"Tywin Lannister wishes me to be a friend to Jon Arryn and King Robert," you state. "To be a friend of the King and his Hand would do our family good."
Your wife, keen as she is, responds "And whereby does Tywin gain from this?"
"In that he is my friend, and thus I serve as the pick on Robert's wall of anger toward his father-in-law."
Alyssa sighs, but nods. "Remember, my dear, when the great quarrel, it is the small who bleed." She pales a little at the accidental allusion to your past misdeeds.

The two of you set off to meet your guests.

What follows for the next few hours is, to your mind, some form of divine punishment. You are not one to speak and chatter with every passing man who wears a colored pin, but here and now, everyone wishes to speak with YOU. The man who got the king at his wedding. Along with the Wardens of East and West. People you've never met clap you on the back, as if you were friends long parted.
If not for your financee, someone would be dead. Probably multiple someones. Why did you so foolishly leave your warpick in your chambers?
Luckily, she is here. And for all your sullenness after the 12th landed knight from Nowhere greeted you warmly, and made a bawdy joke, she makes it fit you. You are Lord William Bordain, not one for small speech. For you, Iron Masters All. Or else you are nervous for the coming wedding. You have drunk too heavily too quickly, and speak briefly. A dozen little fibs to spare you indignities.
Having worked your way through the crowds and pressing masses, you find King Robert. He is eating from a Lamb Crown Roast. You suspect he intends to eat the entire thing, and don the bones. He has made a strong headway in this endeavor.
"BORDAIN!" He bellows, flecks of lamb popping out. "Good to see you!" he reaches forth an arm, and pats your shoulder, leaving a small pat of grease there.
"Bloody great wedding you're throwing, Molehill! Fine food, pretty girls," he leers a moment at your fiancee "and no damn small council nattering at me the bloody seven hundred problems of the seven kingdoms! You throw many parties like this, I'll move the capital here, see if I don't!"
He laughs at his own hyperbole.
"Tell me, what's a man got to do for some levity around here? Entertainment, you understand me?"
>>
>>25190571

Thanks!
>>
>>25190587
"Ahh! King Robert! The Tournament is just about to begin. I take it you're a betting man?"
>>
>>25190587
...Barely conceal hatred.

But yeah did we schedule anything?

It's too bad that bard we hired isn't back in town.
>>
>>25190587

Did we allow the whores to move in if they gave us a cut of their profits?
>>
>>25190587
We need to introduce Luuk to this man, preferably in whatever the hillmen has for formal-wear and have him tell Robert the story of how we subjugated them.
>>
>>25190587

I got just the thing your majesty, have you hear about the hill tribes? A wild people, *whisper* specially their women*whisper* or so I hear, but never worry for I have brought them into your peace my king. And tonight they will entertain us.
>>
>>25190710
He'll get a DAMNED good laugh about us just hurling a pick through the chieftain that'd been robbing us for so long as soon as he showed himself for a true fight.
>>
>>25190679
You had sufficient time to write for him before the wedding, if you want him here.
>>
>>25190587
Conceal hatred, put on smiling face, resist urge to ripe out throat.

"Well it looks like I can't throw any parties any more, having to personally deal with the business of the capital is a terrifying thought.

If you're looking for entertainment you ought to spend some time with the Hill-Folk, they are no strangers to drinking, carousing, and wild abandon. Lovely people once you get to know them, and hit a few of them with a pick. I should introduce you to Luuk, perhaps the finest example of them that I've ever met.

You might even find "entertainment" among them, their women are as wild as the men, and twice as fierce and independent."
>>
>>25190748
I think it'd be neat, since we may owe him some for improving our reputation.
>>
>>25190710

You had forgotten the young king's brazenness, as inexhaustible as your own recalcitrance. You swallow down hot bile, and smile at this King of The Andals.

"My lord, we have a bard, if you like, and the toureny will start soon enough, if you care to watch or bet. but first, I think, you would be happy to meet my bannermen, Tor and Luuk.
Men of the Hill Tribes, a people known for their love of women, fighting, and drinking. A more independent people I have never met and promptly brought to knee."

Robert laughs at your cruel joke.

"If I may, your lord, you have the bearing of many of their greater chiefs and warriors. I suspect the women of the tribe may find some way to entertain you.should the men's tales fail."

You lead him to Luuk, and explain who Robert is, and ask your lieutenant to make sure he's taken care of. Luuk nods, and leaps to the duty, challenging Robert to an Arm Wrestling match.

Having rid yoru self of the Kingly burder, you seek out your Lord Jon Arryn and his lady wife.

You find them in a small garden you apparently have, though you've no memory of it, Jon is resting a moment from the siege of court speech, while his wife burbles away at your plants. Jon turns his head to you.
"Lord William."

>What say?

fixing my post, I suppose we shouldnt forget ourselves
>>
>>25191030
>but I had more notable issues to address.
Couldn't this be perceived as rather rude? He is our liege lord after all.
>>
>>25190959
And may one of the women cut Robert's cock off and shove it down his throat. Amen.

"Lord Jon.

Are you also seeking refuge from the masses?

I never knew before today that I had so many dear friends so eagerly seeking my confidence and time. Perhaps I have won them over after long last and they have come to love me.

How have the both of you fared? Is Morderengrad to your liking? I know it is not the most beautiful place, but I have come to admire its rough charm."
>>
>>25191030
Yeah not this, seems rude.
>>
>>25190959

>>25191030

Change this to: "but I hope your are enjoying my hospitality I owe my Lord Arryn so much it could not do for me to be a bad host." Otherwise he may take offence.

>Jon is resting a moment from the siege of court speech

So, probably best not to babble away at him too much.

Hell, we're tired of the courtly speech thing ourselves!

So whatever we say, let's not be too verbose about it?
>>
>>25191118
>>25191143

I said notable. Tywin Lannister, Oberyn Martell and fucking King Robert Baratheon are more notable people than Jon Arryn.

I never said that we liked them better or they're more important (even though they kinda fucking are).
>>
>>25191125

I like this message. It get us talking with him, but not to such an extent so that it feels obsequious.
>>
>>25191125
>>25191013
>>25191030

"Well met, my lord."
You gesture to the bench, and he nods.
"Seeking refuge from the masses? I understand."
You look back to the castle.
"I did not know I had so many friends, before today. Thank goodness I held a wedding, or I may never have found them."
Jon huffs amusedly at this. You suspect his head is pained.
"I would have spoken to you sooner, but I had a stag to entertain, a viper to dodge, and a Lion to placate. It appears I own a menagerie today."
He nods his understanding, and you sit a while in silence, as Alyssa talks some words with Lysa.

"How is my Lord and Lady?"

He sighs.
"Your Lord, William, is tired. I had wish to stay awhile with my lady wife, but Robert already calls me back to King's Landing. He had need of my wisdom in the matter of the fled Targaryens."
He sighs again.

>Response?
>Let him rest?
>Nod your acknowledgement, let him speak in his own time?
>>
>>25191221

No, I agree with the guy who said that we shouldn't say "more notable."

Maybe we could comment on the mutual exhaustion from talking to everybody? ... Uh, I don't know what to say though.. Maybe a shorter-ish version of >>25191125 ?
>>
>>25191372
>Nod your acknowledgement, let him speak in his own time?

Let the guy vent.

Seems like he wants to get some frustration and annoyance out.
>>
>>25191372

Let's go with the value of silence again.

>Nod your acknowledgement, let him speak in his own time

He probably gets tons of "My Lord, what do you think of..." and "What about if" etc etc.
>>
>>25191372
>Nod your acknowledgement, let him speak in his own time?

>>25191404
This./
>>
>>25191372

If I my assist in any way my lord, it could be my joy to ease your worries.
>>
>>25191372
Nod and let him talk more, if he wishes.
>>
>>25191221
Well yes more important in the grand scheme of things, but as a lord of the vale we only (technically) owe allegiance to Robert and Jon. So as far as polite court appearance Jon is only second to the king as far we are concerned. Suggesting that there are more notable issues in plural could then be perceived as very rude towards our liege lord, not to mention that he's the god damned hand of the king.
>>
>>25191372
>Nod your acknowledgement, let him speak in his own time?

Let the man nurse his headache and talk in his own time, don't press him. He deals with enough bullshit.

If we have water on us, and honestly we should as we can't trust drinks given to us and staying hydrated is important, offer him some.
>>
>>25191372

>Nod your acknowledgement, let him speak in his own time?

Need to take this slowly. Let him know that we're actually here to listen and not just talk at him, like so many of the people who glossed Bordain's past deeds after hobnobbing with the King, Twyin Lannister, and Oberyn Martell.
>>
Maybe a simple comment at some point -- "The burden of duty." or the like.

>>25191372
>"It appears I own a menagerie today."

Nice line btw.
>>
>>25191372
"The remaining children you mean. Arys last son, last daughter. The late king's council become the new kings, so, perhaps it's better he has the ear of a friend first."
>>
>>25191404

Again, I vote for my idea here.
>>
>>25191466
>>25191458
>>25191437
>>25191430

You nod solemnly at your Lord's words, and let him speak in his own time.
You sit for perhaps a hand of minutes or two, and then life seems to reawaken in your Lord's eyes.
He turns to you.
"I never asked, how do you find your keep, William?"
"It is not the most beauteous place, milord, but I have come to admire its rough charm."
"That is well." He leans back. "If I may be frank, My lord Bordain?"
You nod your acceptance.
"You worry me greatly, William. Not for your past deeds. A hard thing you did. but I have seen it gave you no joy. Not for your conduct at my feast before. You acted as any man would, his honor challenged thusly. No, William, I fear you for what I do not see in you. Hesitation. I have not seen you falter, balk, or blink when a challenge faces you. No, you run into it, your pick swinging wild, as if you can break down a mountain through fury alone."
He pauses again, another one of perhaps a minute's length.
"I worry what a man who does not doubt himself, does not hold back when commanded, could be capable of."

>ANOTHER RESPONSE OPPORTUNITY.
>>
>>25191760
My doubts I do not make public my lord, my fears I do not show. However I know my limits, or so I believe, and when wrong I believe my lovely wife-to-be will have no issue pointing them out. I do not feel myself above my station, nor impervious to command. I understand your fears, it is simply that I refuse to embolden my opponents with outward expressions of weakness and vulnerability.
>>
>>25191760
Could we say that hesitation is one of the virtues our bride-to-be has given us?

Like we seem willing to consult with her on things instead of barging ahead.
>>
>>25191845
>>25191836

I think we should fuse these together.

Say we don't put our emotions on our sleeves but we are becoming more thoughtful due to our bride-to-be.
>>
>>25191935
Agreed.
>>
>>25191760
"Such a man is capable of little more than any other man could accomplish but do not for one reason or another, whether it be fear, worry, or honor that holds them back. They either get what they want or they die in the process, there are few other possibilities for them.

Lord Jon, I am not quite as fearless as I seem, just controlled and determined. Like steel I withstood the blows of the hammer and grew strong, if I didn't I would have broken.

I have my own doubts and fears, I spent years ruminating upon them in solitude, but I keep my burdens to myself. Perhaps it is not healthy, but it is my way.

But if the Mountain was in my way I would attempt to hammer through it if need be. Once I have chosen a course of action I follow it through until the bitter end. Thankfully my lovely wife ought to be of great help in making sure that the path I choose is the proper one as she has no fear in challenging me when I'm wrong."
>>
>>25191760
"I spoke with Lord Tywin earlier tonight. It seems he has gotten the impression that these past couple years has been an elaborate plan on my part, that I went into hiding as a calculated choice to soften the blow of my deeds.

He is... incorrect on that count. For two years, I was holed up in my castle, stewing in my own bitterness, doing nothing but faltering. I doubted my ability to rule my people, whether I had the right to this land I was given... and sometimes whether I had a right to be alive.

I still do not know what it was that finally enabled me to break through the inertia of my own inaction, but perhaps it was because I had already used a lifetime's worth of hesitation.

Though my wife-to-be has been an excellent supplement in that regard, and I hope will continue to do so in the future."
>>
>>25192050
Probably at minimum cut out the Lord Tywin part.
>>
>>25192050
I like the line about using a lifetime's worth of hesitation, it fits the character. Lord William Bordain officially ran out of hesitation to give.
>>
Rolled 3, 8, 7 = 18

>>25192050

This kinda seems... irrelevant.

The part about Tywin's thoughts I don't want to reveal.

And the part about how we brooded for 2 years is a bit... sideways to what he said.

Jon said that *WHEN* a challenge faces us, we do not falter, balk or blink.

What we do when there ISN'T a challenge or command driving us, is different entirely. Because we're not facing a challenge.
>>
>>25191935
>>25191958

You nod at his words, and then ask:
"If I may be frank as well?"
He nods.
"My lord, I was trained to not let my enemies see my fear, nor voice my doubts in public. I know what I can and cannot do, as best as I can. Luckily, I have found a wife who will tell me when I am wrong. She has already done so just today, and spared me seeming cruel. So fear not, my lord. For hose who wish to rule must in turn be ruled. And I am ruled by you, by Robert, and now by my wife.

I will not claim she shall make me gentle and retiring, my lord. Once I am set on a thing, whether by command or decision, I shall do it as best I can.

You say you have not seen me hesitate or falter, nor fear. This is true, my lord, for you did not walk the halls of this castle for two years. Two years I held these lands, and could do nothing. Two years I balked at eating, for the blood on my hands. I doubted myself. I doubted my king, my lord, my soul, at times, I thought I should take my own life, but thought it would just stain my hands further.

If I seem hot now, my lord, it is because I have been cold so long the difference burns the air. I did my waiting. I have hesitated too long for one life already "

This manifesto stated, we shall count this the end of your interaction with Jon Arryn, adn the end of the thread for the night.

I forget how long good conversations between you and other characters take, Jesus.

NEXT TIME: A FEW MORE PEOPLE, AND THEN YOU TOTALLY JUST WATCH THE TOURNEY. PAGE WOULD NEVER MAKE YOU ACTUALLY ROLL COMBAT AGAIN.
>>
>>25192095
I agree, not only could us telling conflicting stories come back to bite us in the ass, but I don't want to give the impression we're overly chummy with Tywin.

>>25192104
It is a rather nice line.
>>
>>25192174
Isn't being a lord a constant challenge?

One in which we threw in the towel for two years?

I mean we had NEGATIVE law.

"Being a not shitty ruler" was a challenge, and we faltered at that for a long fucking time.
